Speaker 0

嗨,奥布里。

Hey there, Aubrey.

Speaker 0

今天咱们聊点啥?

What are we talking about today?

Speaker 1

我们今天聊旅行,特别有意思。

We are talking about travel, which is so fun.

Speaker 1

这可是我们最爱的话题之一,对吧?

One of our favorite topics, right?

Speaker 1

你最近去了斯洛文尼亚,听着真棒。

You went to Slovenia recently, which sounded amazing.

Speaker 1

你最近有

Do you have

Speaker 0

什么出行计划吗?

any upcoming trips?

Speaker 0

天哪,日程上现在啥都没安排,这可不太好。

Oh my gosh, there's nothing on the calendar right now, which is not good.

Speaker 0

咱们得赶紧安排点行程。

We need to get something on the calendar.

Speaker 0

不过我推荐去斯洛文尼亚。

Yeah, but I recommend Slovenia.

Speaker 0

徒步很棒,食物超棒,人也友善,旅行体验特别好。

Great hiking, great food, nice people, wonderful trip.

Speaker 0

没错。

Yes.

Speaker 1

太棒了。

Amazing.

Speaker 1

对,最近一集里刚好提到过。

Yeah, this came up recently in an episode.

Speaker 1

我们当时在聊,赶时间的时候,安检排队确实得想办法插个队。

We were talking about needing to cut in line sometimes in security if you're really in a rush.

Speaker 1

没错。

Right.

Speaker 1

我们之前答应过要整理一些机场沟通的常用表达。

And we promised to follow-up with phrases for airport communication.

Speaker 1

所以,现在就来吧。

So, here we are.

Speaker 1

这会很有意思。

This is gonna be exciting.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

我遇到一档子事儿。

I had a drama.

Speaker 0

我可能提过一嘴,但真是挺折腾的。

I may have mentioned this before, but a drama.

Speaker 0

差点错过从慕尼黑飞回丹佛的航班。

Almost missed my flight back to Denver from Munich.

Speaker 0

但说实话,我从来没在机场跑得那么快过。

But, luckily, I have never run so fast in an airport, honestly.

Speaker 0

我当时觉得心脏都要炸了,但我们居然赶上了。

I mean, I thought my heart was gonna explode, but we made it somehow.

Speaker 0

真的,就在我们登机的时候,他们正在登另一架飞机。

Made that Literally, they were boarding at the time we were getting on our other plane in Italy.

Speaker 1

这压力实在太大了。

It's so stressful.

Speaker 1

我以前在雅典差点错过航班,结果还真错过了,损失可大了。

I've been in that I almost missed I did miss a flight in Athens, And it ended up costing me.

Speaker 1

最后只好住酒店。

Had to go get a hotel.

Speaker 1

花的钱可不少。

It ends up being expensive.

Speaker 1

所以这种情形真的特别紧张,压力山大。

So, it's such a high pressure, stressful situation.

Speaker 1

我策划这期节目时,就在想,自己在机场用正在学的语言——比如西班牙语或法语——沟通的样子。

And as I was planning this episode, I'm thinking about me in an airport trying to communicate in a language I'm learning, Spanish or French.

Speaker 1

但我根本掌握不了这么多词汇。

I don't have all of this language.

Speaker 1

我心想,下次旅行前,我得把这些全学会才行。

I'm like, I need to learn all of this before my next trip.

Speaker 0

是啊。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

你到底是怎么错过航班的?

How did you miss the flight?

Speaker 0

到底发生了什么?

What happened?

Speaker 0

是打车出了问题吗?

Was it just a bad cab

Speaker 1

我搭的那趟车。

ride I took it.

Speaker 1

堵在路上好久好久。

Was stuck in traffic forever.

Speaker 1

我完全没想到去机场的路上会堵这么久。

I did not anticipate how long we would be stuck in traffic on the way to the airport.

Speaker 0

明白了。

Okay.

Speaker 0

懂了。

Got it.

Speaker 0

我这个人总是提前四个小时到机场,免得提心吊胆的。

I'm that person that goes to the airport like four hours early, so I don't have to have that stress.

Speaker 0

不过咱们待会儿再聊这个。

But, we're gonna get into this.

Speaker 0

但在进入这些必备的旅行词汇之前,我们想提醒各位听众,很快,就在接下来几周,我们将推出全新的C1高级英语流利课程,奥布里。

But before we get into all this essential travel vocab, we wanna remind our listeners that very soon, in the next few weeks, we will be launching our new c one advanced English fluency course, Aubrey.

Speaker 1

是啊,太让人期待了。

Yes, so exciting.

Speaker 1

这个课程太棒了。

This course is amazing.

Speaker 1

从对话、访谈和母语者的交流中,学到了大量实用的词汇。

So much great vocabulary coming out of conversations, interviews and conversations with native speakers.

Speaker 1

这些内容都是即兴的,没有脚本。

These are unscripted.

Speaker 1

这才是我们平时说话的方式,这种对话里冒出的词汇特别丰富、细腻又高级。

This is how we really speak And it's amazing how much colorful, nuanced, and sophisticated vocabulary comes out of that type of conversation.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

在这个高级阶段,我们正在深入探讨沟通的多个层面。

We're getting into a lot of layers of communication here at this advanced level.

Speaker 0

所以,如果你今年春天或这个秋天报了B2课程,那现在差不多该准备升到C1了。

So, if that sounds right for you guys, if you joined b two back in the spring or this fall, then you should be ready very soon for c one.

Speaker 0

即使你还在B1,也可以直接升级,加入C1课程。

Even if you're in b one, you can level up and join c one.

Speaker 0

获得权限。

Access.

Speaker 0

你将有机会参与口语练习。

You'll have access to speaking opportunities.

Speaker 0

赶紧加入名单,这样一旦开放,你就能第一时间收到通知。

So get on the list because that's the invite list to make sure you hear when it's available.

Speaker 0

Speaker 1

好的。

Alright.

Speaker 1

没错。

Yes.

Speaker 1

如果你还没加入我们的任何课程,那你可就错失了绝佳的口语练习机会。

And if you aren't in any of our courses yet, you are missing out on amazing speaking opportunities.

Speaker 1

我们每周都在 Zoom 上举办自由对话俱乐部活动,还有语言交流派对,你可以结识口语伙伴,和 All Ears English 团队直接聊天。

We have open conversation club meetups on Zoom every week, fluency parties where you can meet speaking partners, chat with us, the All Ears English team.

Speaker 1

特别有意思。

It's so fun.

Speaker 1

只要上了我们任何一门课的人,每周都能参加。

And anyone who's in any of our courses can join every week.

Speaker 0

我知道。

I know.

Speaker 0

我很喜欢我们现在多了这么多和学员实时互动的方式。

I love the fact that we've added so many ways that we connect live with our students.

Speaker 0

最重要的是,他们之间也能互相交流。

They connect with each other, most importantly.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

没错。

Yes.

Speaker 0

对的。

Yes.

Speaker 0

当然。

Absolutely.

Speaker 0

对。

Yes.

Speaker 0

好的。

All right.

Speaker 0

那我们来仔细看看机场相关的词汇吧,奥布里。

So let's get into the very nitty gritty vocab here, Aubrey.

Speaker 0

那在机场,我们第一件需要知道的词汇是什么?

So, what is the first thing we need to know about vocabulary wise at the airport?

Speaker 0

对,我们一般把这些内容分成几大类,

Yeah, we sort of

Speaker 1

就是你到机场后需要做的那些事,还有如果你迷路了、不知道该怎么办,可以问的问题。毕竟每个机场都有很多工作人员,你可能看到人,却不知道该问什么。

have this in buckets of the things you need to do when you're at the airport and some of the questions you might need to ask if you're stuck, if you're not sure what to do, you can always find there are so many people working in every airport, but you might see someone but not know what to ask them.

Speaker 1

比如,我该怎么开口求助呢?

Like, what can I ask to get help here?

Speaker 1

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 1

首先是拿登机牌。

So first getting a boarding pass.

Speaker 1

最近这事儿有变化,对吧?

This has changed recently, right?

Speaker 1

我们现在通常用手机上的电子登机牌,但还是得去自助机上刷一下。

Usually we have a mobile boarding pass on our phone, but we still there'll be like usually a little machine we have to check-in with.

Speaker 1

如果要托运行李,还得找工作人员办理。

And then if we're checking a bag, might need to go and check it in with someone.

Speaker 1

最近这些流程确实一直在变。

So it's sort of, it's been changing lately.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

对我来说,为了避免出状况,我一般直接在手机上办登机牌。

I mean, for me, if I want to make sure I don't get stuck, I do the boarding pass on my phone.

Speaker 0

我会尽量选经济舱,而不是基础经济舱,这样就能带随身行李。

Then, I try to go economy rather than basic economy so I can bring a carry on.

Speaker 0

如果是短途周末出行,我就想尽量避免排队、托运行李、办登机牌这些麻烦事。

If it's a quick weekend, so I don't get stuck anywhere in the lines, checking bags, getting a pass, you know, things like that.

Speaker 1

我尽量不托运行李。

I really avoid checking a bag.

Speaker 1

没错。

Yes.

Speaker 1

行李弄丢的可能性是存在的。

I mean, you could lose.

Speaker 1

我以前丢过行李。

I've lost luggage before.

Speaker 1

只要有可能,我就只想带随身行李。

It's such So, a if possible, I'm like, Oh, I just want carry on.

Speaker 0

当然了。

Yeah, for sure.

Speaker 0

所以这里有一些明确的表达,我们的听众可能会想记下来。

So there's some clear phrases that our listeners are going to want to write down here.

Speaker 0

因为我觉得我们的很多听众都是经常出国旅行的人,奥布里。

Because I think a lot of our listeners are global travelers, Aubrey.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 1

你可能正遇到一些变化带来的困扰。

And you might sort of be struggling with something that's changed.

Speaker 1

你以前对这套系统很熟悉,但一出门旅行,就碰到个从没见过的机器,你知道的。

Maybe you're very used to the system and then you go to travel and there's a machine you're unfamiliar with, you know.

Speaker 1

所以第一件事,你可以问:能帮帮我用这个机器吗?

So, for the first thing you could ask, you know, can you please help me use this machine?

Speaker 1

然后,这个人可能会

And then, you know, this person could

Speaker 0

帮你完成整个操作流程。

help you through the entire process.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 0

或者你能教我怎么拿登机牌吗?

Or could you show me how to get my boarding pass?

Speaker 0

有时候,这些机器该怎么做还真不太清楚。

Sometimes it's not always clear what you're supposed to do with those machines.

Speaker 0

所以我们这里其实用到了昨天节目里的 'can' 和 'could',挺棒的,Aubrey。

So, this is and we're actually using can and could from yesterday's episode, Aubrey, which is very cool.

Speaker 1

没错,对吧?

Exactly, right?

Speaker 1

我们问问题的时候,这些表达经常用到,对吧?

These come up so often when we're asking questions, right?

Speaker 1

直接说 'Show me how to use this machine' 其实很没礼貌。

It would actually be very impolite to say, Show me how to use this machine.

Speaker 1

或者这么说才礼貌:用 'can' 或者 'could' 来问。

Or, This is the polite way to ask, can or could.

Speaker 0

这点很重要。

That's an important point.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

在某些语言里,如果我们直接从母语翻译,可能会说‘告诉我怎么用这个’。

So, in some languages, if we're directly translating from our native language, we might say, Show me how to use this.

Speaker 0

告诉我怎么用这个?

Show me how to use this?

Speaker 0

问个问题更好,但还是不够礼貌。

Better if you ask a question, but still not great.

Speaker 1

太直接了。

Too direct.

Speaker 1

就连‘你会吗’也不行,对吧?

Even will you, right?

Speaker 1

你会告诉我怎么用这个吗?

Will you show me how to use this?

Speaker 1

还是太直接了。

Is still very direct.

Speaker 1

所以我们强烈建议用‘can’和‘could’,这样更礼貌一些。

And so, yeah, we definitely suggest can and could to even be more polite.

Speaker 1

您能教我怎么操作吗?

Could you show me how to do this?

Speaker 0

是的,我们从不建议直接从母语翻译过来。

Yeah, we never want to translate directly from our language.

Speaker 0

这其中涉及的文化和语法结构太多了。

There's so much that goes into that culture, grammar structure.

Speaker 0

好的,奥布里。

All right, Aubrey.

Speaker 0

接下来进入第二步,现在我们已经拿到登机牌了。

Getting into the second, now we've gotten our boarding pass.

Speaker 0

接下来是今天行程的下一个环节:过安检。

We're moving to the next phase of the day, which is getting through security.

Speaker 1

没错,就是这样。

Exactly, right.

Speaker 1

所以,你可能会不确定安检口在哪,这时候可以找个人问一下:‘安检在这边吗?’

And so, of all, you may be struggling to find where you go for security, so you could find someone and ask, Is security this way?

Speaker 1

对方会告诉你是不是走对了方向。

And they'll let you know if you're headed the right direction.

Speaker 0

当然了。

Yeah, for sure.

Speaker 0

那如果你迟到了怎么办?

And then, what if you're late?

Speaker 0

如果得赶紧通过安检呢?

What if you have to get through it faster?

Speaker 0

我赶不上航班了。

I'm late for my flight.

Speaker 0

我可以先走前面吗?

Would you mind if I go in front of you?

Speaker 0

这其实是个很聪明的做法,大多数人都是能理解的。

And so, this is a smart thing to do, and usually people understand.

Speaker 1

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 1

没错,就是这样。

Exactly, right?

Speaker 1

我知道,如果有人在我后面赶时间,又怕误了航班,我多半有足够的时间,完全可以让他们先走。

I know if anyone were running late behind me, and if they were at risk of missing their flight, there's a good chance that I have hours.

Speaker 1

因为很多人都到得特别早,所以你完全可以礼貌地请求插到前面,不过在英语里,这叫‘插队’。

Because a lot of people do get there very early, so you definitely ask to move in front, but we also call this in English cutting, cutting the line.

Speaker 1

你为什么不直接说,‘Lindsay,我能插到你前面吗?’

Why would you not say, can I cut in front of you, Lindsay?

Speaker 0

首先,‘插队’这个词听起来有点像占便宜。

Well, first of all, the word cut sort of implies cheating a little bit.

Speaker 0

没错。

If you Right.

Speaker 0

但问题其实在于,你没把前因说出来。

It's the problem though, really, is you're not giving the back story.

Speaker 0

你没解释为什么,对吧?

You're not giving the reason why, right?

Speaker 0

原因是我赶不上航班了。

Which is I'm late for my flight.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

你让我直接问‘我能插个队吗’,却不给任何背景,这合理吗?

Asking me why not just say, can I cut in front of you without giving any context?

Speaker 1

我觉得你刚才提了两个很好的理由。

Well, I think you brought up two good reasons here.

Speaker 1

首先,确实得把情况说明白,对吧?

First of all, definitely give the context, right?

Speaker 1

如果你说‘不好意思,我可能要误机了’。

If you say, I'm so sorry, might miss my flight.

Speaker 1

我可以吗?你介意吗?

Could I Do you mind?

Speaker 1

我觉得说‘请问我可以排到你前面吗?’才是最得体的说法。

I love the would you mind if I go in front of you is really the nicest way you could say this.

Speaker 1

即使你加上了背景说明,比如‘不好意思,我赶飞机要迟到了’。

But even if you give that context and say, I'm sorry, I'm late for my flight.

Speaker 1

我还是不会说‘我能插到你前面吗?’

I still wouldn't say, can I cut in front of you?

Speaker 1

因为我们用‘插到别人前面’这个说法时,就像你提到的那样。

Because we use this expression, cut in front of someone, like you said.

Speaker 1

它带有很负面的意味。

It implies it's very negative.

Speaker 1

好像你做了一件不该做的事,有点偷偷摸摸的感觉。

Something you shouldn't be doing, something sneaky.

Speaker 0

对。

Right.

Speaker 1

所以,你可以用很多别的说法,比如直接说,我可以……

So, instead, you can say it so many other ways, like, just, can I

Speaker 0

从你前面过去吗?

go in front of you?

Speaker 0

这话说得对,因为对母语者来说,这种说法很容易让人想起小时候,有人插队,带着孩子那种情况。

That's a good point, actually, because for native speakers, it probably brings up memories of kids, you know, saying that, oh, this person's cutting in line with their kids or something.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

就是那种耍小聪明、占便宜的行为。

Just sort of cheating and doing things.

Speaker 1

没错。

Right.

Speaker 1

这个词本身就带着负面含义。

It has this negative connotation.

Speaker 1

你可能会说,那个人插队了。

You might say, That person cut in line.

Speaker 1

真不敢相信,他们管这叫插队。

I can't believe this They call them line cutters.

Speaker 1

这背后确实带着负面含义。

There is this negative connotation.

Speaker 1

所以,如果你需要请别人让你先走,别用那种容易引发负面联想的说法。

So, if you need to ask someone to go in front of them, avoid using that chunk that is triggering these negative memories for people.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

这其实引出了另一个话题,我们改天再聊,奥布里——那就是排队这个概念,它非常具有文化差异。

And that actually brings up a whole other topic, which we could go into another day, Aubrey, which is the whole concept of lining up, which is very cultural.

Speaker 0

在美国,我们确实讲究排队。

And it's important to know that in The US, we do line up.

Speaker 1

我们非常尊重排队的秩序,也尊重每一个在队里的人。

And we really respect that line, We respect people in line.

Speaker 1

我们不会去试图插队。

We're not going to try and cut in front.

Speaker 1

排到

Are going

Speaker 0

队伍

to get

Speaker 1

最后面。

in the back of the line.

Speaker 1

这是唯一例外的情况:如果你担心赶不上飞机,那完全可以请求大家让你插队到前面去。

This would be the exception where if you're at risk of missing a flight, then absolutely you can ask people if you can move to the front of the line.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

我是说,我知道我环游世界的时候,去过一些国家,那里的人就像一群人在往同一个地方挤,对吧?

I mean, I know when I've traveled around the world, there have been countries I've been in where it's just kind of been like a group of people, kind of converging on the thing, right?

Speaker 0

大家都想挤进门。

All trying to come into the door.

Speaker 0

这仅仅是因为价值观不同,没有谁对谁错,但我们得搞清楚自己在哪个国家的机场。

And that's just because there's a different set of values and neither is right or wrong, but we want to know what airport are we in.

Speaker 0

我们现在是在亚洲吗?

Are we in, you know, Asia?

Speaker 0

我们现在是在美国吗?

Are we in The US?

Speaker 0

我们现在是在南美洲吗?

Are we in South America?

Speaker 0

排队的方式会完全不同。

Lining up is gonna be a different experience.

Speaker 1

这话说得对。

That's a good point.

Speaker 1

我想象在美国,如果一大群人涌向排队的地方,插到前面去是违背规矩和文化习惯的,对吧?

And I'm imagining in The United States, if there's a large crowd of people that's sort of funneling to a line, it also would be sort of against the rules, the culture to go to the front of that group so that you can get into the funnel quicker, right?

Speaker 1

礼貌告诉我们,得乖乖排到队尾,因为那些人比我们早到,应该让他们先走。

Politeness dictates that we just get to the back because all of those people were there before us and we need to let them go ahead.

Speaker 0

是的,我们改天再聊这个吧。

Yeah, we should come back to this another day.

Speaker 0

这真是太有趣了。

It is so fascinating.

Speaker 0

挺有意思的。

Interesting.

Speaker 0

不过今天咱们还是先说事实,对吧?

But for today, we're sticking to the facts, Right?

Speaker 0

所以现在通过安检了,Aubrey,接下来就是找登机口了。

So finding your gate, Aubrey, we've gotten through security now.

Speaker 0

希望你待的机场安检做得不错。

Hopefully, you're in an airport that does security well.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 0

凤凰城的安检怎么样?

How's your how's Phoenix for security?

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

凤凰城的安检特别快。

Phoenix is great.

Speaker 1

过安检特别顺利。

Really quick getting through security.

Speaker 1

从来不会排长队。

There are never long lines.

Speaker 1

不过我也去过一些机场,那里乱七八糟,等上好久。

But I have been at airports where it's a mess and it takes forever.

Speaker 1

我们那儿总是人山人海。

We're just always super crowded.

Speaker 1

这得看

It depends on

Speaker 0

哪个机场。

the airport.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

波士顿洛根机场有点乱,不过最近在慢慢改善。

Boston Logan is kind of a disaster, but they're getting better.

Speaker 0

他们正在努力,这点我很欣赏。

They're trying So, to I appreciate that.

Speaker 0

找登机口挺麻烦的。

Finding your gate.

Speaker 0

那咱们接下来去哪儿?

So, where do we go from here?

Speaker 1

你可以直接问别人:能帮我找一下登机口吗?

So, you might just ask someone, Can you please help me find my gate?

Speaker 1

一般在美国,登机口都是字母加数字的编号,你把登机牌给对方看一下,他们就能帮你确认。

And you can either tell them, usually it's like a letter number code, in The States at least, and you could just show them your boarding pass and they could see it on there.

Speaker 0

对。

Yes.

Speaker 0

或者直接问:请问B3登机口怎么走?

Or can you point me toward Gate B3?

Speaker 0

现在这种说法没那么常见了,但我挺喜欢的。

Now that's less common, but I like it.

Speaker 0

这么说很清晰。

It's articulate.

Speaker 0

你能告诉我去……怎么走吗?

Can you point me toward something?

Speaker 1

对,我也觉得这样挺好,对吧?

Yeah, I like this, right?

Speaker 1

问别人你是不是走对了方向,或者直接问‘你能告诉我去……怎么走吗?’,意思就是‘我该往哪个方向走?’

To ask someone if you're headed the right direction or can you point me toward it just means like, which way do I go?

Speaker 1

你不是要人家把每一步都告诉你。

You're not asking for every step of the directions.

Speaker 1

你只是想确认自己没走错方向,因为机场里通常都会有大标识。

You just want to make sure you're headed in the right direction because usually in airports, they're going to be big signs.

Speaker 1

只要知道方向没错,接下来跟着指示牌走就行。

Once you know you're going in the right direction, you'll probably be able to follow the signs.

Speaker 0

或者,你能确认一下我是不是在对的地方吗?

Or, can you confirm I'm in the right place?

Speaker 0

如果你不确定,最好还是问一问,尤其是在国外旅行的时候。

And then you show so, it's always better to ask if you're not sure, especially when you're traveling abroad.

Speaker 1

没错。

Right.

Speaker 1

对。

Yes.

Speaker 1

很多机场特别大,还有好几个航站楼。

And I mean, a lot of airports are gigantic and there are several terminals.

Speaker 1

你可能完全走错了地方,自己还一点都没察觉。

So, you could be totally in the wrong place without even realizing it.

Speaker 1

如果你转了一会儿,没看到指示牌,也搞不清楚状况,就找一位工作人员,用刚才那些话问一问,确保自己没走错方向或错地方。

If you're wandering for a little bit, not seeing signs, not understanding, just find someone who works there and ask one of these phrases to make sure that you're headed in the right direction or in the right place.

Speaker 0

对。

Right.

Speaker 0

有时候我们需要把这一步和上一步结合起来,因为有些机场不同登机口的安检是分开的,我觉得。

And sometimes we need to combine this step with the previous step because some airports, they'll have different security for different gates, I think.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

我知道丹佛机场就只有两处安检,过了之后就能去所有登机口。

I know for Denver, it's just two securities, and you can access all gates.

Speaker 0

你可以坐轻轨去所有登机口,但我觉得其他机场可能得过一次安检,然后只能去特定的几个登机口。

You can get to all the gates through the tram, but I think other airports, it's like you have to go through this security and then you end up only at these gates.

Speaker 1

所以我们要明白,在美国,每个机场都不一样。

So, were making a good point to know that in The United States, every airport is different.

Speaker 1

就算你对某一个机场特别熟悉,也不能指望其他机场都一样——有的有接驳车,有的有轻轨,有的所有登机口都在一个航站楼里。

So, if you're really familiar with one, you can't expect any other airport to Some work that have shuttles, some have trams, some are all in one terminal.

Speaker 1

真的很难说准。

You just never know.

Speaker 0

有些机场年代比较久远。

Some are older than others.

Speaker 0

有些地方人太多了。

Some are overcrowded.

Speaker 0

我知道丹佛机场,当初建的时候是按预期的人流量设计的,可现在每天的人数是原来的三倍。

I know DIA, the Denver Airport, they built, they expanded, they built for expecting, you know, X number of people, and now they have three X number of people every day.

Speaker 0

丹佛机场的客流大得吓人。

The traffic is massive at DIA.

Speaker 0

所以他们根本没做好准备。

And so, they're not ready for it.

Speaker 1

是啊,他们得扩建才行。

No, they're going to need to expand.

Speaker 1

这真不容易。

That's tough.

Speaker 1

确实如此。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

太离谱了。

It's crazy.

Speaker 0

所以,直接问这些问题就行。

So, just ask these questions.

Speaker 0

别不好意思。

Don't be sorry

Speaker 1

稍后再说吧。

later, Yeah.

Speaker 1

我们的第四个类别是提供更通用的帮助。

Our fourth bucket is for more general help.

Speaker 1

比如,你弄丢了行李,或者丢了别的东西,甚至不确定自己是不是在正确的地方。

Like, imagine you've lost a bag or lost something, or maybe you're not even sure you're in the room.

Speaker 1

也许你是在找地面交通方式。

Maybe you're looking for ground transportation.

Speaker 1

在机场里,可能会遇到各种各样的情况。

There could be a lot of things that come up in an airport.

Speaker 1

所以,这些都属于通用问题。

So, general questions.

Speaker 1

你直接说一句‘你能帮我一下吗?’就行。

You could just say, Could you help me?

Speaker 1

然后说,我东西弄丢了。

And then, I've misplaced something.

Speaker 1

我的行李没到。

My bag didn't arrive.

Speaker 1

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 1

各种情况都可能遇到。

There could be all kinds of things.

Speaker 1

你就从这句开始就行。

You can just start with that.

Speaker 1

你能帮我一下吗?

Could you help me?

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

你能帮帮我吗?

Could you help me?

Speaker 0

我喜欢这个说法。

I like that.

Speaker 0

我的行李没出现在转盘上。

My bag didn't arrive in the carousel.

Speaker 0

你能告诉我该去哪儿吗?

Could you tell me where to go?

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

总会有一个服务台是你得去的。

So, there's always gonna be a desk you're gonna go to.

Speaker 0

我们从斯洛文尼亚回来的时候就遇到过这种情况。

This happened to us when we came back from Slovenia.

Speaker 0

我们的行李被落在了慕尼黑。

Our bags were left in Munich.

Speaker 0

通常情况下,他们的行李都会送到的。

So, usually they do deliver your bags.

Speaker 0

花了几天时间,但最后我们还是拿到了。

It took a few days, but we got them eventually.

Speaker 0

没关系。

No problem.

Speaker 0

不过你得去服务台,调出你的记录。

But you will have to go to a desk, pull up your records.

Speaker 0

当时号码有点混乱,这种事难免会发生。

There was some confusion around the numbers, and this will happen.

Speaker 0

所以遇到这种情况别着急。

So just stay calm when that happens.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 1

对。

Yes.

Speaker 0

没错。

Right.

Speaker 0

这事儿也发生过在

This happened to

Speaker 1

我去巴黎的时候,那时候我的法语没现在这么好。

me in Paris and at the time my French was not what it is today.

Speaker 1

当时那种情况真的让人又难又紧张。

And this was difficult and stressful to be.

Speaker 1

幸运的是,机场里很多人会说英语。

Luckily, a lot of the people in the airport spoke English.

Speaker 1

我特别庆幸这一点,但真的挺棘手的。

I felt really lucky about that, but it's so tricky.

Speaker 1

很多情况下,出了问题还得用第二语言沟通,确实不容易。

A lot of these, when something goes wrong and you're having to communicate that in a second language, can be tough.

Speaker 0

天哪。

Oh my gosh.

Speaker 0

我懂。

I know.

Speaker 0

对我们来说在丹佛就很简单,因为都是用英语交流。

I mean, for us in Denver, was very simple because it was in English.

Speaker 0

但如果你在别的国家,比如刚出发不久,又急着找行李,那情况就不一样了。

But if you're in another, yeah, another country, and then you're worried, maybe you're at the beginning of your trip and now you need your bags.

Speaker 1

没错。

Yes.

Speaker 1

这确实让问题更复杂了。

That definitely compounds the issue.

Speaker 0

当然。

Sure.

Speaker 0

没错。

Sure.

Speaker 0

再说说我们刚才举的那个例子。

And then I like our last example.

Speaker 0

我们又回到我说的这一点了。

We're back to point me.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

你能不能直接说一句

Do you want to just say that

Speaker 1

一个例子是,

one Yeah.

Speaker 1

你可以先问‘请问能告诉我去……怎么走吗?’,然后接上到达区、地面交通、租车服务,你想要的任何地方。

Hand, Can you point me in the direction of, and then you can finish that with arrivals, ground transportation, rental cars, whatever you're looking for.

Speaker 1

开头就用‘请问能告诉我去……怎么走吗?’,再接着说出你想找的地方,这样行不行?

Start it with this question, can you point me in the direction of, and then share whatever you're looking for?

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

我觉得今天这句话在很多场景里都特别管用。

I feel like that phrase is really coming through today across a lot of these categories.

Speaker 0

你能告诉我去X Y Z怎么走吗?

Can you point me to x y z?

Speaker 0

你能告诉我去……该怎么走吗?

Can you point me in the direction of?

Speaker 0

这说法挺聪明的。

It sounds smart.

Speaker 0

听起来很有条理。

Sounds articulate.

Speaker 0

很清楚。

It's clear.

Speaker 0

这个说法对我们的听众来说很合适。

It's a good one for our listeners.

Speaker 1

对。

Yes.

Speaker 1

我同意。

I agree.

Speaker 1

喜欢

Love

Speaker 2

没错。

it.

Speaker 0

好的,奥布里。

Alright, Aubrey.

Speaker 0

我们现在来做一个角色扮演。

We are here for a role play.

Speaker 0

你现在在机场工作,而我过来问你几个问题。

And you are working at the airport, and I am stopping to ask a few questions.

Speaker 0

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 1

你有没有想过在机场工作?

Would you ever wanna work at an airport?

Speaker 0

你是说,你愿意做这份工作吗?

Would you is that something you would wanna do?

Speaker 1

不想。

No.

Speaker 1

确实有些好处。

There are perks.

Speaker 1

我有个朋友在机场上班,她可以免费坐飞机。

I have a friend who works at an airport, and she flies for free.

Speaker 1

她到处旅行,走遍全球。

She travels all over the world.

Speaker 1

天哪

Oh my

Speaker 0

我的天

gosh.

Speaker 0

是啊

Yes.

Speaker 1

我懂

I know.

Speaker 1

我觉得这工作压力肯定很大,但有这么多好处,也许还值得

I think it would be a very stressful job, but maybe worth it for all

Speaker 0

好处

the perks.

Speaker 0

挺刺激的

Exciting.

Speaker 0

我知道

I know.

Speaker 0

我那个继兄当年在犹他州的机场打工,读大学的时候,结果免费去了印度,还一时兴起去了日本。

I have a my stepbrother-in-law was working out at the airport in Utah when he was in college, and he ended up going to India for free, going to Japan on a whim.

Speaker 0

你懂的。

You know?

Speaker 0

他就直接去机场,看看能不能搭上飞日本的航班。

Like, let me go to the airport and see if I can get a flight to Japan.

Speaker 1

真聪明。

How smart.

Speaker 1

对于想到处旅行的年轻人来说,这工作简直太棒了。

I mean, what a great job for a young person who wants to travel.

Speaker 0

百分之百没错。

A 100%.

Speaker 0

那感觉太棒了。

It was fantastic.

Speaker 0

听起来你在扮演这个角色时,待遇很不错啊。

So, it sounds like you have a good gig in this role play here.

Speaker 0

好吧。

So, alright.

Speaker 0

不好意思。

Excuse me.

Speaker 0

你能

Can you

Speaker 1

帮帮我吗?

help me?

Speaker 1

当然可以。

Yes, of course.

Speaker 1

我该怎么

What can I

Speaker 0

帮您呢?

do for you?

Speaker 0

我不太确定该去哪个登机口

I'm not sure what gate I'm supposed

Speaker 1

该去哪个登机口。

to go to.

Speaker 1

没问题。

No problem.

Speaker 1

你有

Do you have

Speaker 0

登机牌吗?

your boarding pass?

Speaker 0

对,在我手机上看呢。

Yes, it's here on my phone.

Speaker 1

看起来是B34登机口,在那个航站楼。

It looks like your Gate B34, that's in the other terminal.

Speaker 0

哦,你能告诉我怎么

Oh, can you tell me how

Speaker 1

过去吗?

to get there?

Speaker 1

是的,你需要坐接驳车,往下走这个自动扶梯,跟着去B航站楼的指示走。

Yes, you'll need to take a shuttle, go down this escalator and follow the signs for Terminal B.

Speaker 0

谢谢。

Thank you.

Speaker 0

到那儿得花不少时间吧?

Will it take some time to get there?

Speaker 1

接驳车一直都有,离这儿也不远,你肯定来得及。

The shuttles run constantly and it's not far from here, so you should be fine.

Speaker 0

对,所以我们才特意留了充裕的时间。

Yes, this is why we leave extra time.

Speaker 0

我知道。

I know

Speaker 1

确实挺让人紧张的。

it's so stressful.

Speaker 1

哦,你跑错航站楼了。

Oh, you're in the wrong terminal.

Speaker 1

有时候去另一个航站楼还真得花点时间。

Sometimes it takes a while to get to another terminal.

Speaker 0

没错,完全正确。

Right, 100%.

Speaker 0

那么,奥布里,我们该挑出哪些表达让听众们复习呢?

So, what are the phrases we should pick out here, Aubrey, to show our listeners to review?

Speaker 1

是啊,首先是这些问题,对吧?

Yeah, so these first question, right?

Speaker 1

能帮帮我吗?

Just, can you help me?

Speaker 1

你可以帮帮我吗?

Or could you help me?

Speaker 1

如果你要找某个地方的工作人员,用这句话开场再合适不过了。

Is a great intro phrase if you're finding someone who works somewhere, this is the way to do it.

Speaker 1

非常礼貌,而且能轻松引起对方注意。

Very polite, and just to get their attention.

Speaker 0

是的,您能帮我一下吗?

Yes, can you or could you help me?

Speaker 0

没错。

Right.

Speaker 1

他们很可能会说:当然可以,有什么可以帮您的?

And they're probably going to say, Sure, what can I do for you?

Speaker 1

然后我们就顺势提出问题了,对吧?

And then we're diving into asking a question, right?

Speaker 1

你可以说:我不太确定该去哪个登机口。

You're like, I'm not sure what gate I'm supposed to go to.

Speaker 1

你可以说:您能告诉我去这个登机口怎么走吗?

You could say, could you point me in the direction of this gate?

Speaker 1

把登机牌给他们看一下。

Show them the boarding pass.

Speaker 0

对,我们特别喜欢这一句。

Yes, we love that one.

Speaker 0

记住这个说法。

Remember that one.

Speaker 0

你能告诉我去……怎么走吗?

Could you point me in the direction of?

Speaker 0

对。

Yes.

Speaker 0

还有别的吗?

And what else?

Speaker 0

我们来看看。

Let's see.

Speaker 1

然后你说,你能告诉我怎么去那儿吗?

And then you said, can you tell me how to get there?

Speaker 1

因为我当时说,哦,那是B34,另一个航站楼。

Because I've said, oh, that's B34, the other terminal.

Speaker 1

有时候,工作人员因为太熟悉这个地方,可能会默认你也一样了解。

This sometimes will happen where staff working somewhere is they're so familiar with the place that they're maybe going to assume you are as well.

Speaker 1

所以他们可能就直接说,那是另一个航站楼。

So they might just be like, that's the other terminal.

Speaker 1

这时候就得你自己开口问了,比如:能告诉我怎么过去吗?

And it might be on you to say, okay, could you tell me how to get there?

Speaker 0

我的意思是,这在生活里也一样适用。

I mean, that's a good thing to remember in life in general.

Speaker 0

不管你精通什么,都得小心别以为别人什么都知道。

When you're an expert in anything, we have to be careful that we don't assume other people just know things.

Speaker 0

别想当然,对吧?

Don't take things for granted, right?

Speaker 1

确实如此。

That's true.

Speaker 0

没错,太对了。

Yeah, it's so true.

Speaker 1

然后你还会问另一个问题,因为我跟你说,得坐接驳车,走那个自动扶梯。

And then another question you ask, because I'm telling you, Oh, we gotta take a shuttle, go this escalator.

Speaker 1

你可能时间紧张,很难估计到那儿得花多久。

You may be short on time and you would have a tough time knowing how much time it's gonna take you to get there.

Speaker 1

所以你可以问一下,到那儿需要多久,这样好判断自己得走多快。

So, you could ask this question you asked, will it take some time to get there to give you an estimate of how fast you need to be moving?

Speaker 0

是的,这句话也可以换几种说法。

Yeah, and you could reword that in different ways.

Speaker 0

比如直接问‘到那儿要多久’,这也是个不错的选择。

You could say, how long will it take to get there is another option.

Speaker 0

今天我们只是给你提供一些新的、不同的表达方式。

We're just giving you some new and different options today.

Speaker 1

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 1

当然。

Definitely.

Speaker 1

没错。

Absolutely.

Speaker 1

机场里能遇到的情况太多了。

There's so much that can come up at an airport.

Speaker 1

如果你要出行,提前想好这些事确实很重要,对吧?

You definitely want to think about this ahead of time if you're traveling, right?

Speaker 1

要是到了机场才发现自己没准备好该用的表达,那真的会很紧张。

It can be stressful if you get there and you haven't thought about the phrases that you need.

Speaker 1

所以今天学的这些表达能帮上大忙。

So, today's phrases will really help with that.

Speaker 0

是的,我觉得关键是提前安排好,别在机场手忙脚乱,尤其是周五、周日这种高峰期,或者周一早高峰通勤的时候。

Yeah, and I think making sure you set up the conditions so that you're not stressed out when you get to the airport, especially on busy days like Fridays or Sundays or when you know Monday morning, work commuting traffic.

Speaker 0

提前做好准备,别让自己显得焦躁,那样反而会让别人也跟着紧张。

Just set it up so that you're prepared so you don't kind of let off a vibe that stresses out the other person.

Speaker 1

说得太对了。

That's so true.

Speaker 1

确实如此,对吧?

It's very true, right?

Speaker 1

早点到,提前弄清楚你要去哪。

Get there early, try to know where you're going.

Speaker 1

另外啊,有什么不明白的,别不好意思问。

But also, you know, don't hesitate to ask for help.

Speaker 1

只要一觉得不对劲,不知道是不是走对了地方,或者该干嘛,马上找人帮忙。

The second you're not sure you're in the right place, you're not sure what to do, find some.

Speaker 1

附近肯定有人能帮你。

There's going to be people close by who can help you.

Speaker 0

奥布里,旅行真是个好话题。

Aubrey, travel is a great topic.

If it's very specific, we'll probably feature Yes.

Speaker 0

它

It,

Speaker 1

对。

Yes.

Speaker 1

还有别忘了,我们不久前刚做过一期节目,第1489期,讲的是旅行中常用的短语动词。

And don't miss, we had an episode not too long ago, All Ears English fourteen eighty nine, with phrasal verbs for travel.

Speaker 1

把这些旅行常用的短语动词记下来。

Pick up these phrasal verbs for travel.

Speaker 1

旅行的时候我们用的短语动词特别多,这期节目千万别错过。

We use so many different phrasal verbs when we're traveling, so don't miss that episode.

Speaker 0

对,今天的小贴士是,尽量创造有利的条件。

Yeah, and for today's takeaway, mean, kind of set it.

Speaker 0

为自己创造合适的环境。

Set yourself up for the right conditions.

Speaker 0

到了之后放松一点,这样这些表达就会自然地浮现在你脑子里,对吧?

Be relaxed when you arrive so that these phrases come up in your mind naturally, right?

Speaker 1

没错,完全正确。

Yes, absolutely.

Speaker 1

对,遇到困难别不好意思开口求助。

Yeah, and don't hesitate to ask for help.

Speaker 1

对,如果你心态够放松,时间也充裕,只是随便问问,那反而能跟机场工作人员聊上几句,这也是个好机会。

Yeah, if you're already set up to be pretty casual, all of these, you've got time, you know, you're just asking, and then it's an opportunity to have a conversation with someone who works at the airport.

Speaker 0

是啊,有时候这种交流真的挺温馨的,你说呢?

Yeah, sometimes those can be really nice exchanges, You know?

Speaker 0

你怎么应对,完全可以自己决定。

You can decide how it's gonna go.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 1

没错,就是这样。

That's Totally.

Speaker 1

或者如果你特别紧张,这种交流可能就没那么愉快了。

Or if you're super stressed, it might not be such a fun exchange.

Speaker 0

没错。

For sure.

Speaker 0

所以好好享受旅行吧,今天就到这里,奥布里。

So enjoy the travel, and that's it for today, Aubrey.
