Speaker 2

你好,米歇尔。

Hello, Michelle.

Speaker 2

最近怎么样?

How are you?

Speaker 2

嗨,奥布里。

Hi, Aubrey.

Speaker 2

我挺好的。

I'm doing well.

Speaker 2

奥布里,你有没有遇到过特别失控的行为?

Aubrey, have you ever experienced any completely unhinged behavior?

Speaker 2

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 2

这周打排球的时候,我遇到一个人行为完全失控了。

This week, I had an experience at volleyball where someone definitely demonstrated unhinged behavior.

Speaker 2

简单说吧,我和他同时冲着球去,但他冲过来之后还继续朝我撞过来。

And to make a long story short, someone went for the ball when I went for the ball and then kept running at me.

Speaker 2

我赶紧停住了,不想被人撞到。

I stopped because I don't want anyone to run into me.

Speaker 2

其实我最近刚撞过一次,也是同样的情况——我喊了球,他还是冲过来,结果我们撞上了,我还受伤了。

I actually got I collided with someone recently, same situation where I called the ball and they still ran at it and we collided and I was injured.

Speaker 2

所以我现在更小心了。

So I'm a little more wary.

Speaker 2

我有点犹豫,结果他还是冲过来,我就让了球,可他反而觉得是我错了,还说‘我没事啊’,我当时真觉得这人太疯狂了,我都开始怀疑自己还能不能继续打了。

I'm a little hesitant and someone still ran at the ball and then I let it drop and beyond that there was a lot of unhinged behavior of them thinking it was my fault and I'm like I don't know if I can play anymore and they're like I'm fine then like wow this person is unhinged.

Speaker 0

天哪。

Oh my gosh.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

在孩子运动时,人们也容易这样,对吧?

People can get like that also like with kids sports right?

Speaker 0

当父母的有时候会变得特别失控。

The parents can become a little bit unhinged.

Speaker 2

我也有个相关的故事,不过改天再说吧。

I have a story about that too but maybe another time.

Speaker 2

我可能已经讲过了。

I may have shared it.

Speaker 2

是关于我女儿踢足球的事。

It was about my daughter playing soccer.

Speaker 2

这种事太常见了。

That happens a ton.

Speaker 2

人们往往会特别激动。

Like people get really passionate.

Speaker 2

他们是在为孩子辩护,或者太想让孩子赢,尤其是当他们太好胜的时候。

They're defending their kids or they really want them to win if they're overly competitive.

Speaker 2

人真的会失去理智。

People can get unhinged.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

我的意思是,失去理智可能表现为有人不停地在网上发帖炒作混乱的八卦,或者在群聊里大发雷霆,又或者是老板半夜三更还发消息。

So I mean unhinged it could be someone posting online nonstop about chaotic drama or someone going on a rant in a group chat or maybe a boss messaging at all hours of the night.

Speaker 0

你可能会听到有人用‘失去理智’来形容这种情况。

You might hear someone describe that as unhinged.

Speaker 0

所以,奥布里,今天的问题来自YouTube用户Saddam Mohammed u one g,这位听众想了解一下‘失去理智’这个词。

So Aubrey, today's question comes from YouTube from Saddam Mohammed u one g and this listener is going to ask about the word, unhinged.

Speaker 0

你能念一下这个问题吗?

So, could you read the question

Speaker 2

当然可以。

for Absolutely.

Speaker 2

萨达姆说,他注意到这个词经常和一些其他词搭配,比如‘run wild’。

Saddam says, I noticed that this word wildly collocates with other words like to run wild.

Speaker 2

哦,‘wildly collocates’啊,对。

Oh, the word wildly collocates Yep.

Speaker 2

像‘run wild’,意思是行为失控。

With other Words like to run wild, which means to behave without control.

Speaker 2

比如孩子们在院子里乱跑。

Like kids were running wild in the yard.

Speaker 2

还有‘drive someone wild’,意思是让某人陷入浪漫的激动状态。

To drive someone wild, which means to excite someone in a more romantic context.

Speaker 2

她今晚的穿搭让我心动不已。

Her good looking outfit tonight drove me wild.

Speaker 2

还有‘go wild’,意思是变得特别兴奋。

To go wild, which means to become enthusiastic.

Speaker 2

我激动得不行,我们队进了个早期进球。

I went wild and my team scored an early goal.

Speaker 2

你能谈谈‘unhinged’这个词吗?

Can you reflect on the word unhinged?

Speaker 2

我经常在各种场合听到这个词。

I hear it a lot in many contexts.

Speaker 2

谢谢大家分享这个热门英文词汇,很有帮助。

Thanks guys for this helpful English trending word.

Speaker 2

我很喜欢萨达姆提出的这个问题,他之前听过一集讲‘wild’的词汇,现在在做对比。

I love this question that Saddam heard this other episode with this vocabulary about something being wild and he's comparing.

Speaker 2

他在想,‘wild’和‘unhinged’之间有什么关联呢?

He's like, how does that relate to unhinged?

Speaker 2

它们有关联,但意思不一样。

And they are related but different.

Speaker 2

今天我很期待深入聊聊这个词。

So I'm excited to dive into this today.

Speaker 0

对,没错。

Yes, exactly.

Speaker 0

所以,Saddam,谢谢你收听,也谢谢你提出这么棒的问题。

So yeah, Saddam, thank you for listening and for the great question.

Speaker 0

现在‘unhinged’这个词确实挺流行的。

So yeah, unhinged is kind of a popular word right now.

Speaker 0

我觉得它有点儿小潮流的感觉。

Like it's it's kind of a little bit trendy, I think.

Speaker 0

这个词特别适合用来表达情感连接。

It's great for connection.

Speaker 0

它非常有表现力。

It's very expressive.

Speaker 0

当你在对话中理解了这个词,马上就能产生共鸣。

So and when you understand it in conversation, it's instantly relatable.

Speaker 0

今天我们会详细解释它的意思,以及如何正确使用。

So today, we're gonna explain exactly what it means, how to use it appropriately.

Speaker 0

各位别忘了在你听All Ears English播客的平台点个关注,这样就不会错过我们的任何内容了。

And guys make sure you hit the follow button wherever you're listening to the All Ears English Podcast so you never miss anything from us.

Speaker 2

你可能已经注意到,最近听到米歇尔和我讲话的次数变多了,我们俩都觉得特别开心。

You probably have noticed that you're hearing Michelle and I a little more often which is so We fun for are loving it.

Speaker 2

林赛依然在节目中。

Lindsay is still on the podcast.

Speaker 2

你还会继续听到她的声音,她很快就会回来的。

You'll still and hear her she'll be back more even soon.

Speaker 2

不过她暂时休息一段时间,我们录节目的时候也挺轻松愉快的。

But yeah, we're having a fun time recording while she's taking a little bit of time off.

Speaker 0

没错,就是这样。

Exactly, yes.

Speaker 0

所以今天我们要聊聊‘unhinged’这个词。

So yeah, we're going to talk about unhinged today.

Speaker 0

从字面上说,如果你想想一扇门,它有合页,对吧?

So literally speaking, I mean if you think of like a door, it's on the hinges, right?

Speaker 0

就是那个金属部件让门能开关自如。

That's what the piece of metal that makes swing open and closed.

Speaker 0

它们是固定在墙上的。

They connect it to the wall.

Speaker 0

所以如果门脱了铰链,就不再连着墙了。

So if a door is off its hinges, it's not connected to the wall anymore.

Speaker 2

但我们家这些橱柜总是这样。

But We have these cabinets.

Speaker 2

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 2

铰链老是松掉。

That are constantly becoming unhinged.

Speaker 2

我觉得铰链质量不太好,经常开合的话就会松脱,得重新拧紧那个小铰链。

They just the hinges are not very high quality I think and if you open it often it just like is unhinged and you have to fix the little hinge.

Speaker 0

我们的也是,门都歪了。

And ours is like becomes like crooked.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yes,

Speaker 2

木材都快裂开了。

And like the wood could almost break.

Speaker 2

它们可能是同一款。

They're probably the same ones.

Speaker 0

有可能。

It could be.

Speaker 0

是啊,真让人头疼。

Yeah, it's very frustrating.

Speaker 2

是啊,要把铰链重新装回去挺难的,不然它随时可能掉下来。

Yeah, and it's sort of hard to pop the hinge back in so that it's not like about to break off.

Speaker 0

对,就是这样。

Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 0

所以从字面上看是这样,但我们其实很少用。

So that's more literally, but we don't really use it.

Speaker 2

不常使用。

Not often.

Speaker 2

即便如此,我也会说柜子坏了。

Even then I would be like the cabinets broken.

Speaker 2

我不会说它脱臼了。

I wouldn't be like, it's unhinged.

Speaker 2

我们平时不这么说。

We don't really

Speaker 0

对。

say that.

Speaker 0

没错。

Right.

Speaker 0

对。

Exactly.

Speaker 0

所以通常听到‘脱臼’这个词时,你想的都是那种更常见的意思,不是字面意义上的。

So normally when you hear unhinged, you're thinking about this, you know, more popular meaning, this less literal meaning.

Speaker 0

那‘脱臼’到底是什么意思呢?

So what is unhinged?

Speaker 2

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 2

指精神或情绪上不稳定、混乱、不可预测、过分夸张。

So mentally or emotionally unstable, chaotic, unpredictable, over the top.

Speaker 2

我们经常用这个词来夸张一下。

We use it to exaggerate a lot.

Speaker 2

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 2

比如打排球时有个人,我特别烦他的行为。

We're taking like for example, this guy at volleyball, I was really annoyed with his behavior.

Speaker 2

有些人可能觉得这不算过分,但我觉得已经很极端了。

Some people might not consider it unhinged but it was pretty extreme.

Speaker 2

所以我就会说,他反应得简直太失控了,对吧?

So I would use that like he was totally unhinged in his reaction, right?

Speaker 2

我们经常用这个词来形容人。

So we often describe people using this.

Speaker 2

比如,他自从分手后就完全失控了。

For example, he's been completely unhinged since the breakup.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

他可能整天都穿着睡衣待在家里。

So he just might be, maybe he's staying at home in his pajamas all the time.

Speaker 2

简直了。

Like super

Speaker 0

情绪崩溃。

upset.

Speaker 0

他一天给前女友打十次电话,你知道的。

He's calling his ex girlfriend 10 times a day, you know.

Speaker 2

可能还在跟踪她,对吧?

Stalking, maybe stalking, right?

Speaker 2

也可能干出这种极端的事,对吧?

Could be something extreme like that, right?

Speaker 0

如果一个人真的失去理智了,那情况可能非常严重。

It could be really serious if someone is unhinged.

Speaker 0

对。

Yes.

Speaker 0

其实我们用这个词的时候,差不多就相当于说‘疯了’,说实话就是这样。

So, you know, sometimes we do use it in kind of a it's it's like it's kinda like the word crazy, honestly.

Speaker 0

我觉得我们以前在节目里也聊过,用这个词合适吗?因为说一个人‘失去理智’听起来有点不那么政治正确,但你确实经常听到。

And I think we've talked about that on the show before is is it okay to use that because sometimes it's, you know, it it it's slightly un PC to say something is unhinged, but again, you hear it a lot.

Speaker 2

跟说‘疯了’的情况很类似。

In a very similar way to crazy.

Speaker 2

说一个人‘疯了’,其实也不太政治正确。

It's also slightly un PC to say someone is crazy.

Speaker 2

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 2

所以我们平时说口语的时候,经常会用‘这太疯了’这种说法。

So, yeah, like, we'll use it a lot in slang like, that's crazy.

Speaker 2

这太离谱了。

This is crazy.

Speaker 2

但直接说她疯了或者他疯了,感觉要严重得多,对吧?

But to actually say she is crazy or he is crazy feels much worse, right?

Speaker 2

给人贴这样的标签。

To accuse someone of that.

Speaker 2

同样,说他精神失常、她精神失常,听起来太过极端,也可能不公,视情况而定未必合适。

And the same, to say he's unhinged, she's unhinged feels very extreme and also maybe unfair, maybe not appropriate depending on the context.

Speaker 0

不过呢,我们在这儿就是要教你怎么听懂这些说法。

So, but yeah, we're we're gonna, you know, we're here to teach you how you will hear it.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

所以你说话时最好稍微注意点。

So you might wanna be a little bit careful.

Speaker 0

比如,别轻易说某人精神失常。

Like you don't necessarily wanna describe someone as unhinged.

Speaker 0

你知道吗,这个词更适合用来听,而不是一开始就随便用。

You know, this might be a good one to listen for a lot more than to use, especially at the beginning.

Speaker 0

不过呢,行为方面也可能用得上。

So, but yeah, it could be behavior as well.

Speaker 0

她车子抛锚的时候,表现得特别失常。

So she was acting super unhinged when her car broke down.

Speaker 2

对。

Mhmm.

Speaker 2

或者发在社交媒体上的内容,你可以说你最新那条帖子太疯了。

Or social media content, you might say your latest post was unhinged.

Speaker 2

搞笑极了。

It was hilarious.

Speaker 2

没错,我们平时就这么当俚语用,意思是出乎意料、吓人、或者太离谱了,就像说‘那也太疯了’一样。

And, yeah, we use it this way as slang to say maybe it was unexpected or shocking or crazy, you know, the same way we'd be like, that was crazy.

Speaker 2

我们会说‘那简直太疯了’。

We'd say that was unhinged.

Speaker 2

没错。

Right.

Speaker 0

对。

Right.

Speaker 0

所以这里的语气是指某种让人震惊或意外的事情。

So the tone here is like something that is shocking or surprising.

Speaker 0

可能更夸张一些,但也可能就像那个社交媒体帖子的例子。

It might be more extreme, but it might be that example about the social media post.

Speaker 0

也可能是一种让人觉得有趣的方式。

It might be in an entertaining kind of way.

Speaker 0

哦,就是太夸张了,夸张到你敢发到网上,简直疯了,还特别好笑。

Oh, like it was just so extreme that you could put that on line and so it was unhinged and that was hilarious.

Speaker 0

所以它也可能带有这种语气。

So it's interesting that could also have that tone to it as well.

Speaker 0

就是这样。

Exactly.

Speaker 0

或者带有

Or with a

Speaker 2

很多事都发生了,我想起泰勒·弗兰基·保罗,你们要是知道关于《单身汉》和《摩门妻子的隐秘生活》那整件事的内幕,不妨说说。

lot of things that happen, I think of Taylor Frankie Paul, if you guys have any inside info about the whole situation with Bachelor and Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.

Speaker 2

我看到有人用这个词来形容她的行为、她前夫的行为,还有把她推到这种境地的节目。

A lot of, I saw this word used to describe her behavior, her ex's behavior, the show that put her in these situations.

Speaker 2

那里头发生的事太多了,但很多都可以用‘失常’来形容。

There's a lot going on there but a of that could be described as unhinged.

Speaker 2

不仅是人们的行为,还有那些支持这种行为的公司所做的决定。

People's behavior as well as decisions being made by companies that supporting that behavior.

Speaker 2

总之,我们在新闻和社交媒体上经常看到这种现象,要么是夸大其词,要么是用这个词来描述那些出人意料、通常还带点负面色彩的事情。

Anyway, yeah we see this a lot in the news, in social media and to either exaggerate or not to describe something as unexpected and often negative.

Speaker 0

对,通常是负面的。

Right, often negative.

Speaker 0

没错,这词听起来一般都挺批判的。

Yeah, I mean it usually sounds pretty critical.

Speaker 0

你可能会听到有人说,他那番牢骚简直疯了,真该冷静一下。

So you might hear like his rant was unhinged, he really needs to chill out.

Speaker 0

但就像我们说的,也可能带着点玩笑的意味。

But it can be playful as we said.

Speaker 0

你居然对他这么说,我简直不敢相信。

I can't believe you said that to him.

Speaker 0

你是不是有点疯了?

You're unhinged, right?

Speaker 0

就是那种开玩笑的说法。

In a teasing kind of way.

Speaker 2

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 2

关键还是看语气。

So it really depends on the tone.

Speaker 2

有时候甚至带点褒义。

It can be positive.

Speaker 2

这可能是在欣赏某人的大胆或混乱。

It could be about admiring someone's boldness or chaos.

Speaker 2

这种情况可能没那么常见。

This is maybe a little less often.

Speaker 2

我之所以会对别人这么说,是因为我喜欢那些特别有趣、有点混乱、总能给我惊喜的人。

I might say this to people because I like people who are really interesting and kind of chaotic and surprise me.

Speaker 2

所以我喜欢我的朋友都稍微有点疯疯癫癫的。

So I like my friends to be a little unhinged.

Speaker 2

说实话,我觉得这样更有趣。

Honestly, I think it's more fun.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

没错。

Right.

Speaker 0

你可以说那位喜剧演员太棒了,完全就是疯得可爱。

So you could say that comedian was incredible, completely unhinged.

Speaker 0

所以,这话听起来可能有点冒犯。

So again, could sound insulting.

Speaker 0

提醒一下,如果用错场合或语气,会有问题。

This is a warning guys if used in the wrong context or tone.

Speaker 0

你得看准对象和场合,用这个词一定要格外小心。

So you have to know your audience and the context and you know, just be really careful with using this word.

Speaker 0

也许,再听一遍体会一下。

Maybe, again, listen to it

Speaker 2

这跟我们之前讲的‘调侃’有点像。

It's similar to when we were teaching about roasting.

Speaker 2

能被你调侃的人,你才能开玩笑说他‘疯疯癫癫’。

The person you can roast, you could playfully call unhinged.

Speaker 2

要是根本没法调侃他,那你就别叫他‘疯疯癫癫’。

You can't roast them, I wouldn't call them unhinged.

Speaker 2

这种玩笑得有特定的关系、足够的亲近才说得出口。

It takes a certain relationship, a certain closeness to be able to have that teasing, playful relationship.

Speaker 0

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 0

好的。

All right.

Speaker 0

等我们回来再深入聊聊这个。

So we're gonna talk more about this when we get back.

Speaker 0

好的,奥布里。

Okay, Aubrey.

Speaker 0

有听众提到和‘wild’搭配的词组,比如‘run wild’。

So the listener mentioned collocations with the word wild also, like run wild.

Speaker 0

那和‘unhinged’搭配的词组呢?你觉得有哪些?

And are there any collocations with unhinged, would you say?

Speaker 2

我们确实常和一些加强语气的词一起用‘unhinged’,这样听起来更有冲击力。

Well, we definitely use unhinged with intensifying words and that makes it sound even more dramatic.

Speaker 2

比如说,她最近完全疯了,或者他最近几个故事简直太离谱了。

So we might say she's completely unhinged lately or his last few stories are totally unhinged.

Speaker 0

对。

Mhmm.

Speaker 0

是的,没错。

Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 0

或者可以用一些词来稍微缓和一下这种表达。

So, or words that could, they could slightly soften the expression.

Speaker 0

比如‘有点’或者‘稍微’。

So like kind of or a bit.

Speaker 0

比如说,他们搬家期间一直有点失常。

So for example, they've been kind of unhinged throughout their move.

Speaker 0

那对在公交车上吵架的夫妇,吵个不停。

That couple on the bus was fighting non nonstop.

Speaker 0

也可以说有点失常,或者用‘一点点’、‘略微’这样的词。

It was all a bit unhinged or you could use a little or slightly.

Speaker 0

说实话,他们的老师看起来有点不正常,或者他老板太强势了,显得略微失常。

So honestly their teacher seems a little unhinged or his boss is so intense he seems slightly unhinged.

Speaker 2

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 2

这些都特别好。

These are all great.

Speaker 2

我们在日常对话中经常用这些表达,还有一些类似的我们也想分享一下。

We use these often in daily conversations and there are also some similar expressions we want to share.

Speaker 2

比如说,我们会说某人容易炸毛。

So for example, we'll say someone like to fly off the hinges.

Speaker 2

意思是发脾气,或者突然爆怒,更多是指愤怒,而不只是行为混乱。

Meaning to lose your temper or suddenly react maybe with intense anger And it's more about anger than just chaotic behavior.

Speaker 2

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 2

所以比如,别提预算削减的事。

So for example, don't mention the budget cuts.

Speaker 2

他又要炸毛了。

He'll fly off the hinges again.

Speaker 2

意思是他会气得不行,可能还会冲别人吼。

Meaning he's gonna get really mad and upset and maybe yell at someone.

Speaker 2

对。

Mhmm.

Speaker 0

有人在交通里插她的队,她当场就炸了。

Or she flew off the hinges when someone cut her off in traffic.

Speaker 0

你可能也会听到‘fly off the handle’这个说法。

And you might also hear fly off the handle.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

是的。

Mhmm.

Speaker 0

我觉得我常听到

I think I hear

Speaker 2

这个说法用得更多一点。

that one a little bit more.

Speaker 2

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 2

两个都行。

Both.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

或者说是脱了轨。

Or to go off the rails.

Speaker 0

意思是失去控制,开始行为混乱、不可预测。

So that's to lose control or start acting in a chaotic, unpredictable way.

Speaker 0

这通常是负面的。

So this can be negative.

Speaker 0

也可能带点幽默感,但得看具体情况。

It can, again, have like a little humorous edge, but it really depends.

Speaker 0

他丢了工作后就彻底失控了。

So he went off the rails after losing his job.

Speaker 0

看着真让人难受。

It was hard to watch.

Speaker 0

这情况很糟,一点都不好笑。

That's bad, not humorous.

Speaker 2

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 2

或者当公司换了老板,事情就开始失控了。

Or when the company changed owners, things started to go off the rails.

Speaker 2

这也属于糟糕的情况。

This is also bad.

Speaker 2

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 2

情况一直不太顺利。

Things were going badly.

Speaker 2

后来做了一些调整。

Changes were made.

Speaker 2

大家都很难适应。

Everyone's having a hard time adjusting.

Speaker 2

事情彻底失控了。

Things went off the rails.

Speaker 2

没错。

Yes.

Speaker 2

这跟我们英语里说的‘derailed’是一个意思。

This is related to this phrase we use in English derailed.

Speaker 2

事情脱了轨,跟‘go off the rails’完全是同一个意思。

Things got derailed, same meaning for it to go off the rails.

Speaker 2

字面上讲,火车脱轨或者偏离轨道,就是这个意思。

And it means the same literally when a train derails or goes off the rails, it means the same thing.

Speaker 2

它脱离了轨道,然后就出事了。

It leaves the track and wrecks.

Speaker 2

我们也会用这个比喻,来形容事情搞砸了或者彻底完了。

And we use this metaphorically as well to to talk about things ending or being ruined.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 0

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 0

那我们来角色扮演一下吗?

So should we do a role play?

Speaker 2

好。

Yeah.

Speaker 2

就这么办。

Let's do it.

Speaker 2

米歇尔和我是朋友。

Michelle and I are friends here.

Speaker 2

我们在抖音上关注一位博主。

We follow an influencer on TikTok.

Speaker 2

说到泰勒·弗兰基·保罗,这不一定是关于她的,只是泛指这类博主。

Speaking of Taylor Frankie Paul, this is not necessarily about her, a general influencer.

Speaker 2

我们正在讨论这位网红最近发的帖子。

We are discussing this influencer's recent posts.

Speaker 0

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 0

来吧。

Here we go.

Speaker 0

你看到她最新的TikTok视频了吗?

Did you see her latest TikTok?

Speaker 2

看到了。

Yes.

Speaker 2

完全疯了。

It was totally unhinged.

Speaker 2

我知道。

I know.

Speaker 2

她连续发了十多个视频。

She posted like 10 videos in a row.

Speaker 2

她一直在那里发牢骚。

And she was ranting the whole time.

Speaker 2

她前男友真把她气疯了。

Her ex really made her fly off the hinges.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

她分手后完全失控了。

She's completely gone off the rails after the breakup.

Speaker 2

没错。

True.

Speaker 2

但大家好像还挺喜欢看的。

But people seem to be loving it.

Speaker 0

确实挺有意思,不过也确实太疯了。

Well, it's definitely entertaining, but a bit unhinged 100%.

Speaker 2

这事儿特别有意思,尤其是我们现在录得早,等播出来的时候,泰勒·弗兰基·保罗的事儿都过去一阵子了,但眼下这事儿在新闻里正火着呢。

Oh this is so interesting especially you know we're recording a bit in advance so this will come out a little bit after this is all happening with Taylor Frankie Paul but it's really in the zeitgeist right now in the news.

Speaker 2

人们一边享受着别人痛苦和戏剧性的遭遇,一边还把这一切拍下来,这到底算多大的问题?

Like how much is it a problem for people to be entertained by the misery and drama and terrible things that are happening in people's lives and they're still being filmed.

Speaker 2

他们上了真人秀,现在这话题正热,大家都在讨论:这种事真的该发生吗?

They're on these reality TV shows And so this is a big deal right now where it's in the discourse, like should this be happening?

Speaker 2

这些电视节目真的该支持这种行为吗?

Should these TV shows be supporting that?

Speaker 2

可能真得改一改了。

Something probably needs to change.

Speaker 2

我们自己也得反思一下,是不是也在享受这种类型的媒体内容。

And also to look at ourselves if we're entertained by that type of media.

Speaker 0

那意味着什么?

What does that

Speaker 2

这说明了我们什么样的心态?我们该不该支持它?毕竟他们这么做是因为有利可图,节目赚钱正是因为有人看。

say about us and should we be supporting it because they're continuing to do it because they're making money for doing it and the shows are making money because there is an audience for it.

Speaker 2

这里面有太多值得说的了。

So there's just a lot to be said.

Speaker 2

我并不是不享受这些,我真的很喜欢《爱是盲目的》和《叛徒》,我超爱《叛徒》,但我清楚这反映的并不是社会积极的一面。

I'm not above enjoying, I really love Love is Blind and traitors, I love traitors but I recognize that this is not a good positive look for our society.

Speaker 2

如果外星人来看真人秀,他们肯定会说:‘算了,还是回我们星球吧。’

If aliens come and watch reality TV they're going be like nope and go back to their

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

这太搞笑了。

That's so funny.

Speaker 0

没错。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

那我们来模拟一下角色扮演吧。

So let's go through the role play.

Speaker 0

我说:你看到她最新那条TikTok了吗?

So I said, did you see her latest TikTok?

Speaker 0

你回我说:看到了,完全疯了。

And you said, yes, it was totally unhinged.

Speaker 2

是的

Yeah.

Speaker 2

总觉得她这个帖子比平常更乱,比一般发的内容要疯狂得多。

So something about it was a was more chaotic than normal, I would say, or more chaotic than the average post you would see.

Speaker 2

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 2

我说她疯了,是因为感觉她这事儿特别离谱,完全不正常。

So I'm describing it as unhinged because I felt like something was bonkers, crazy, like out of the ordinary in some way.

Speaker 0

没错

Yep.

Speaker 0

没错

Yep.

Speaker 0

没错

Yep.

Speaker 0

然后你说她前男友让她彻底炸了。

And then you said her ex really made her fly off the hinges.

Speaker 0

所以就是发脾气,有点失控

So like lose her temper, go a little

Speaker 2

疯狂一把,反正就是那样。

wild, whatever it was.

Speaker 2

这种情况是不是经常发生?

And that happens right?

Speaker 2

有人情绪极度激动,我们有时候能看出来,对吧?

Someone is experiencing extreme emotions and we see the evidence of it sometimes, right?

Speaker 2

所以我们才会炸毛。

So we fly off the hinges.

Speaker 2

意思是表现出极端的行为,通常是愤怒,某种情绪上的爆发。

That means exhibiting some kind of extreme behavior, anger, usually some kind of emotion that we're lashing out.

Speaker 0

对。

Yes.

Speaker 0

那我之前还说了什么来着,奥布里?

And then what did I say Aubrey?

Speaker 2

你说她完全失控了。

You said she's completely gone off the rails.

Speaker 2

这和脱轨是一个意思。

So this is the same as derailed.

Speaker 2

这个说法是指他们已经失去理智了,对吧?

This idiom that means they have left sanity sort of right?

Speaker 2

当我们说一个人脱轨了,就意味着我们再也看不懂他的行为了。

There's like we're not understanding the behavior anymore when we say someone's gone off the rails.

Speaker 0

是的。

Mhmm.

Speaker 0

对。

Mhmm.

Speaker 0

接下来这个挺有意思的。

And then this was interesting.

Speaker 0

我说,这确实挺有看头的。

I said, well, it's definitely entertaining.

Speaker 0

然后我问了个问题,但有点疯疯癫癫的?

And then I said as a question, but a bit unhinged?

Speaker 0

完全没错。

100%.

Speaker 0

所以这是我们当时用这个词的一种挺有意思的方式。

So that's a that's a interesting way that we used it there.

Speaker 0

好了,奥布里。

So alright, Aubrey.

Speaker 0

我们之前提到过另一期节目,讲的是能不能调侃别人。

I we we were mentioning our other episode about if you can roast someone.

Speaker 0

所以大家去听听吧,就是上一期,不对,是两期之前那期。

So guys, check out, yeah, just last episode well, two episodes ago.

Speaker 0

那是第2640期。

That was 2640.

Speaker 0

咱们来调侃一下All Ears English团队吧。

Let's roast the All Ears English team.

Speaker 0

那我们来看看这一段吧。

So let's check that one out.

Speaker 2

没看的话,你们得往上滑,赶紧去看看。

Missed it, you guys have got to scroll up and check that out.

Speaker 2

我们之前调侃过整个团队。

We shared a roast of the team.

Speaker 2

米歇尔、我、林赛,每个人都有单独的吐槽,特别搞笑。

Michelle, me, Lindsay, a separate roast for each of us and they're so I think they're so funny.

Speaker 2

我特别想知道你们觉得怎么样。

I'm really curious what you guys think about them.

Speaker 2

如果没看,往上滑,一定要听一下这一集。

So if you missed it, scroll up and definitely check out that episode.

Speaker 0

对。

Yes.

Speaker 0

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 0

好的。

Alright.

Speaker 0

在结束之前,奥布里,你今天有什么收获吗?

Any takeaways today before we head off the mic, Aubrey?

Speaker 2

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 2

这真的挺有意思的。

This is really interesting.

Speaker 2

这种说法可能很冒犯,也可能太过分了。

This type of vocabulary can be offensive, can be too much.

Speaker 2

关键看你们的关系如何。

It really depends on the relationship.

Speaker 2

就像我们说的,如果你能跟一个人开玩笑,那就可以用这种方式轻松地、打趣地聊你们的关系。

Just like we said, a person you can roast, you can use this playfully, teasingly to talk to them about your relationship.

Speaker 2

不然的话,你可能会对那些你不认识的人,或者在社交媒体上表现失态的人用这种说法。

Otherwise, you might use it for people you don't know, people you see in social media exhibiting unhinged behavior.

Speaker 2

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 2

这不一样,因为你不是当着他们的面说的。

That's different because you're not saying it to their face.

Speaker 2

所以这种话,跟人说的时候得小心点。

So this is the kind of thing you want to be careful when saying it to someone.

Speaker 2

但如果你看到一些疯狂的行为,用这些词来形容就挺合适。

But if you see some crazy behavior, this is great vocabulary to describe it.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 0

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 0

好的。

Alright.

Speaker 0

再次感谢我们的听众提出这么棒的问题。

Well, thank you again to our listener for that great question.
