Speaker 1

How did you know that your life partner was the one for you?

Speaker 1

Today, we talk about the role that intuition has on our lives and how to articulate this in a conversation in English.

Speaker 1

Hey there, Michelle.

Speaker 1

How's everything today?

Speaker 0

Everything's good.

Speaker 0

Lindsay, question.

Speaker 0

How did you know your partner was the one for you?

Speaker 1

Well, that's a good question, Michelle.

Speaker 1

I guess when you know, you know.

Speaker 1

There were just certain moments, you know, that happened, especially early on.

Speaker 1

Traveling together where we saw situations in the same way or we reacted in Traveling

Speaker 0

is a good way to know.

Speaker 1

What about you?

Speaker 1

How did you know your husband?

Speaker 1

Was Yeah, he right one for

Speaker 0

丹。

Dan.

Speaker 0

Yeah, I knew he.

Speaker 0

I don't know.

Speaker 0

I just always kept on having so much fun with him.

Speaker 1

他是个

He's a

Speaker 0

very fun person.

Speaker 0

So yeah.

Speaker 0

When you know, you know.

Speaker 1

When you know, you know.

Speaker 0

You know, you know.

Speaker 0

What do you think about that expression, Lindsay?

Speaker 1

It's a good one.

Speaker 1

It's a little bit of a cliche, but sometimes cliches are fun.

Speaker 1

You know?

Speaker 1

There's nothing wrong with them because we use them, especially around sentimental things.

Speaker 1

Sentimental things like finding your life partner.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 0

It's definitely a big one.

Speaker 0

对。

Mhmm.

Speaker 0

I mean, I also hear I hear this a lot in the movies and on TV shows, but also in real life when you know you know.

Speaker 0

It's also kind of fun to say.

Speaker 1

It kinda makes me think of, like, nineties romance movies, like Sleep was in Seattle a little bit.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

That vibe of romantic and, you know, like, is it meant to be this very optimistic Yeah.

Speaker 1

Nineties romance film thing that was happening?

Speaker 1

我

I

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

I know.

Speaker 0

I know exactly what you mean.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 0

So Yeah.

Speaker 0

We're gonna talk more about this.

Speaker 0

But first, Lindsay, do we wanna say thank you to someone?

Speaker 1

当然。

Of course.

Speaker 1

We wanna say thank you to all our listeners, but especially those of you who have taken the time to go and leave us a rating and a review.

Speaker 1

And today's name, today's listener is Mingwei Ren.

Speaker 1

Thank you for the five star review.

Speaker 1

This listener reviewed us in, I believe, Apple Podcast.

Speaker 1

Thank you so much for the review.

Speaker 1

Guys, go over and leave us a review.

Speaker 1

Tell us what you think of the show.

Speaker 1

Wherever you listen, Apple Podcast, Spotify, let us know what you think of the show.

Speaker 1

Alright?

Speaker 0

Love it.

Speaker 0

Thank you so much, everyone.

Speaker 0

Thank you, Ming Wei.

Speaker 0

So Lindsay, so what does that mean even to say when you know, you know?

Speaker 1

I mean, What do you are

Speaker 0

we talking about?

Speaker 0

We're not even saying anything.

Speaker 1

Yeah, think what we're trying to say here is like, when we know it's right, you know, it's right.

Speaker 1

Like, it's a gut feeling.

Speaker 1

It's like our intuition that something is a fit.

Speaker 1

Something is a match.

Speaker 1

Something feels right.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

But actually thinking about it, you could also use it about so when in something that feels wrong.

Speaker 0

I mean, when you know, you know.

Speaker 0

This is not but it does but I I think typically it has more of this optimistic, hopeful feeling.

Speaker 1

But I agree.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

Not not always.

Speaker 0

So you could use it in other ways.

Speaker 0

But, it is about that intuition.

Speaker 0

I think that that is the key word, that gut feeling.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 0

So but what do we use it about?

Speaker 0

What are we talking about?

Speaker 1

All the good things in life.

Speaker 1

I mean, the big thing the big kind of the big things in life, like choosing a pet.

Speaker 1

Oh my god.

Speaker 1

I love this.

Speaker 1

I love this.

Speaker 1

When you chose your beagle, did you when you were a kid, you had a beagle.

Speaker 1

Right, Michelle?

Speaker 0

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 0

对。

Mhmm.

Speaker 1

Did you adopt him from the shelter or, like, how did he end up at home?

Speaker 1

Did your parents bring him home?

Speaker 0

How did he yeah.

Speaker 0

So what what happened was my of course, my mom didn't want the dog, and then of course it ended up being her dog.

Speaker 0

That's how it goes.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

But we my dad was looking everywhere,

Speaker 1

然后

and

Speaker 0

he was we were looking for rescue dogs.

Speaker 0

One day he told me he that he thought he found one.

Speaker 0

I guess he had been in touch with this woman.

Speaker 0

And, we we were interested in beagles or dachshunds or different those types of breeds.

Speaker 0

对。

Mhmm.

Speaker 0

And so he said that there was a there was a dog, and so he told me, and we were so excited.

Speaker 0

But I will say so the first time he came and the first time I saw him, I was like, oh my god.

Speaker 0

He's so cute.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

But then we were playing with him in the front yard.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

And he was crazy.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

I started getting nervous.

Speaker 0

I guess he had the zoomies.

Speaker 0

You know?

Speaker 1

Oh, zoomies.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

Small dogs.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

And and I just I haven't really experienced that before and I was like, ah.

Speaker 0

But yeah, of course he was our dog.

Speaker 0

I mean, what about for you with Kiefer?

Speaker 0

Was it when you know, you know?

Speaker 1

Actually it was not a, it was not a you know, you know.

Speaker 1

The original Kiefer, we found a dog in Boston when we couldn't adopt yet, named Kiefer.

Speaker 1

That's his namesake.

Speaker 1

That dog was Kiefer.

Speaker 1

Kiefer won.

Speaker 1

And that's how we named our current dog Kiefer.

Speaker 1

But that dog, we knew we wanted him.

Speaker 1

But this dog, he was just a puppy.

Speaker 1

He was eight weeks old, and we had, you know, kind of presigned up for him.

Speaker 1

Right?

Speaker 1

Like, you sign up, indicate your interest, and then you go.

Speaker 1

And he was kind of the one that was all the red flags were coming up.

Speaker 1

Like, he wasn't coming over to us.

Speaker 1

He looked afraid.

Speaker 1

He was in the corner.

Speaker 1

He was a little antisocial.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

But the woman just kind of was like, well, do you want him or not?

Speaker 1

We're like, I guess so.

Speaker 1

So we just took him, and then he just grew he grew on us.

Speaker 1

You know?

Speaker 1

Like, you know, how they they imprint on you on the ride home, and then they just like Yeah.

Speaker 1

You just spend time and you learn to love them.

Speaker 1

You love them over it didn't take long.

Speaker 1

Trust me.

Speaker 1

He was the most adorable puppy.

Speaker 0

I mean, now he's pretty outgoing.

Speaker 1

He's a great dog.

Speaker 1

He's a great dog.

Speaker 1

So Yeah.

Speaker 1

I mean, these are the moments when we use this intuition because intuition matters for the big decisions in life, Michelle.

Speaker 1

Right?

Speaker 0

对。

Mhmm.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

So, I mean, for finding a partner, choosing a pet, your job, if you interview for something and it just feels right.

Speaker 0

Or also, I mean, a big one is finding a house.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 0

You know, you just, and again, sometimes you don't always have this feeling and that doesn't mean that it's necessarily not right.

Speaker 0

Just when you know, you know, there are, you know, I'm sure everyone has those moments in life where you can remember, oh, you just knew, you just had a feeling, you know?

Speaker 1

Yes, exactly.

Speaker 1

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 1

And that's kind of a cool magic in life where, thank goodness, we have some kind of intuition intuition kind of guiding us at times.

Speaker 1

Right?

Speaker 1

Mhmm.

Speaker 1

It would be so hard if everything were just logical.

Speaker 1

对。

Right.

Speaker 1

We need a little heart, right, to come out.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

And guidance.

Speaker 0

So, I mean, it's often used just when something is an important choice in your life and you know, you can decide based on your heart and not just with logic.

Speaker 0

So yeah, picking a pet is certainly one.

Speaker 0

Wait, so the other dog that you like, that dog was named Kiefer.

Speaker 0

So that's

Speaker 1

why you named Kiefer.

Speaker 1

Kiefer?

Speaker 1

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 1

Got it.

Speaker 1

I like it.

Speaker 1

It was way too early for us to adopt a dog.

Speaker 1

We couldn't have a dog in our apartment in Boston.

Speaker 1

You know, we had to move on, but we always thought about that that Kiefer.

Speaker 1

And then we just yeah.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

所以

So

Speaker 0

Well, let's show how this would be used in conversations.

Speaker 0

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 0

Do wanna do the Yes.

Speaker 0

先来

First

Speaker 1

I looked for a house for six months, and finally, I found one.

Speaker 1

It was perfect.

Speaker 1

Hey, when you know, you know.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

对。

Mhmm.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

对。

Mhmm.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

Or here's a little role play.

Speaker 0

对。

Mhmm.

Speaker 1

How did you decide on your puppy?

Speaker 0

Oh, when I saw him, it was a no brainer.

Speaker 0

When you know, you know.

Speaker 1

Oh, that's so nice.

Speaker 1

I love that.

Speaker 1

Oh, and it makes me wanna get another dog.

Speaker 0

I know.

Speaker 0

Oh my gosh.

Speaker 0

I I I definitely I'm in I I shouldn't right now, but I keep on looking at pictures and rescue sites and really not a good time for me.

Speaker 0

但是

But

Speaker 1

That's a lot.

Speaker 1

That's a lot.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

不。

No.

Speaker 0

Maybe in a in a year or two, though.

Speaker 0

Not too long.

Speaker 0

Not too far from now.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

Or what made you decide to go to UCLA?

Speaker 1

Like, towards so many schools, but it was an easy choice.

Speaker 1

When you know, you know.

Speaker 1

That's kinda how I felt about my college too.

Speaker 1

That's another good one, choosing a college.

Speaker 1

I visited my college, which was in Virginia, so it was way further south than where I grew up.

Speaker 1

It was a beautiful April day, and the weather was incredible, impeccable.

Speaker 1

The campus was gorgeous.

Speaker 1

All these kind of superficial things Mhmm.

Speaker 1

Drove me to believe it was the best choice.

Speaker 1

But I don't know if it was the right choice in hindsight, but it was college.

Speaker 1

You know?

Speaker 1

I love my college experience.

Speaker 1

It's okay.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

But I did have that feeling like when you know, you know.

Speaker 1

This is the place for me.

Speaker 1

You know?

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

Well, that's interesting because weather has such an impact Huge.

Speaker 0

On when you know, if you're going to look at a house, if you're going to, let's see, if you like a town, if you're it's it's and you it's so hard to keep it in mind because, yeah, you go tour around an area on a rainy day, it's gonna feel so much different than if you go somewhere else and it's sunny and gorgeous and people are outside walking around.

Speaker 0

It's just yeah.

Speaker 0

Weather weather can definitely play tricks on you.

Speaker 1

It's so true.

Speaker 1

The world just looks so different through, yeah, the gray lens versus the bright, sunny blue sky lens.

Speaker 1

It's just incredible.

Speaker 1

Any trip, you know, when you travel is the same thing, right?

Speaker 1

Anytime you're taking a trip somewhere, it's just, you know, when we went to Norway last fall, it was so gray.

Speaker 1

It was so gray.

Speaker 1

And I think our experience would have been completely different if it was just blue skies all the time.

Speaker 1

You know?

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

我不

I don't

Speaker 0

知道。

know.

Speaker 0

确实。

Sure.

Speaker 1

So alright.

Speaker 1

So, Michelle, can this ever be something negative we mentioned earlier?

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

Again, you know, we mentioned that it can be, but we both have this feeling of it's generally positive.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

I think so.

Speaker 0

明白。

Mhmm.

Speaker 0

But if it is negative, it's just kind of this feeling that something's off, that gut feeling.

Speaker 0

So for example, went on a blind date last night, but he wasn't for me.

Speaker 0

When you know, you know.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

I mean, that makes sense.

Speaker 1

That's acceptable.

Speaker 1

Like, that would no one would be like, you're using that wrong.

Speaker 1

Right?

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

Or we canceled our flight.

Speaker 1

It's just too hard to fly with the kids right now.

Speaker 1

When you know, you know.

Speaker 1

So here you just you it's like you have an intuition that things will just be too much.

Speaker 1

It's just it's your gut feeling.

Speaker 1

It's just too much.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

Or the house looked great on the outside, but we could tell right away it was not in good shape on the inside.

Speaker 0

When you know, you know.

Speaker 0

And, you know, you're more like, you're in these ways, I think you're more so just playing with the expression.

Speaker 0

对。

Mhmm.

Speaker 0

You're using it in a way that, yeah, maybe it generally sounds more hopeful and optimistic, but you're just kind of,

Speaker 1

是的,

yeah,

Speaker 0

changing it.

Speaker 0

当然。

Sure.

Speaker 1

没错。

For sure.

Speaker 1

对。

Mhmm.

Speaker 1

So in terms of experiences that we've had, I feel like I've had this feeling when I knew that I needed to go abroad after college, personally.

Speaker 1

Like, I knew that I had grown up in a small town in The US, like very small, and I'd been a little bit sheltered and I needed to see the world.

Speaker 1

I had to be in a big city, so I decided to go to Tokyo.

Speaker 1

Right?

Speaker 1

And I just knew when you know, you know that you need to get out.

Speaker 1

You need to see the world.

Speaker 1

There's this real intuition inside me that said, I'm going to live abroad.

Speaker 1

I'm going to live in some place that couldn't be more different than The US, which is too Right?

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

I mean, would you say that you often have this intuition guiding you in your decisions?

Speaker 0

Or is it more rare for you?

Speaker 0

Are you more,

Speaker 1

oh, what do I do?

Speaker 1

It's tough.

Speaker 1

I think as I get older, the analytical mind really wants to come in and override the gut feeling more.

Speaker 1

But I also feel like I also value the gut feeling more and more too as I as I get older, like with more experience of having made certain decisions and they went sideways or they were good.

Speaker 1

Now it's a balance.

Speaker 1

I think I have both actually.

Speaker 1

What about you, Michelle?

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

I I I also I sometimes it's just kind of I mean, Lindsay, we just recently did an episode about why not?

Speaker 0

You know?

Speaker 0

Sometimes you do have this more of this openness.

Speaker 0

It could also just be, you know, whatever's going on in your life Yeah.

Speaker 0

That it makes you feel more comfortable with taking those risks or just saying, yeah.

Speaker 0

I I can I just know?

Speaker 1

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 0

But Right.

Speaker 1

Sometimes there's stakes is what you're saying.

Speaker 1

Like, there Right.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 1

Totally.

Speaker 1

Totally.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

So I think it's just all you know, what's your perspective currently in that moment?

Speaker 0

What's been going on in your life?

Speaker 0

Are you kind of afraid to make a decision?

Speaker 0

Are you more open?

Speaker 0

You know, there's a lot that could be guiding us so we don't even realize.

Speaker 0

或者说

Or

Speaker 1

are there other people that are going to be affected what I'm going decide.

Speaker 1

Like when I decided I had to go to Japan when I was 24.

Speaker 1

Well, I mean there's there's no one else would have any repercussion like there are no repercussions for anyone else, right?

Speaker 1

If it didn't go well, it's just me, Right?

Speaker 1

Whereas if you have like a family of four or five and you decide you wanna move abroad, that's a much bigger might be less easy to just say, well, when you know, you know, we're going.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

没错。

Right.

Speaker 0

是的。

Right.

Speaker 0

对。

Right.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

So let's show some expressions that are kinda similar.

Speaker 0

好。

So Yeah.

Speaker 0

This one is to talk about also this feeling.

Speaker 0

So I just knew.

Speaker 0

Right?

Speaker 0

对。

Mhmm.

Speaker 0

I withdrew my application right after the interview.

Speaker 0

I just knew it wasn't their place for me.

Speaker 1

对。

Mhmm.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

Or something told me.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

Like this one.

Speaker 1

Something tells me or something told me.

Speaker 1

明白。

Mhmm.

Speaker 1

I could tell he was the one when he met my parents.

Speaker 1

Something told me we were meant to be together.

Speaker 1

Oh, that's nice.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

What else?

Speaker 0

Or and the the something is, you know, your intuition, your conscience, your whatever it is.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

Or I could feel it in my bones.

Speaker 0

Okay?

Speaker 0

This is where you can feel something very deep down.

Speaker 0

没错。

Yes.

Speaker 0

I knew we would be best friends.

Speaker 0

I could feel it in my bones.

Speaker 0

I was I was actually just talking to my friend about this.

Speaker 0

I have a weird thing where I can tell I've had three moments in my life where I can tell I'm gonna be really good friends with someone by the sound of their voice.

Speaker 1

Oh, that's interesting.

Speaker 1

That's cool.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

哇。

Wow.

Speaker 0

Just there's there's a some there's something in their voice.

Speaker 0

And I was just telling my friend that the other night because she's a newer friend.

Speaker 0

We had we've been friends now, I guess, for a year already.

Speaker 0

And I was just tell we were just reflecting on our friendship, and I said, I I I I knew that I was gonna like you right away because of the sound of your voice.

Speaker 1

Well, that's really interesting.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

What did she say?

Speaker 1

所以,

So,

Speaker 0

yeah, no.

Speaker 0

She thought it was cool.

Speaker 0

And then I told her about the other experiences in my life where I've heard sometimes it's that I hear someone's voice first.

Speaker 0

Like, they are coming in the door and I hear them talking and I'm like, oh, I like that person.

Speaker 1

Yeah, I can see.

Speaker 1

I think there is something about voices that you can sort of have an intuition into their character, their personality, right?

Speaker 1

对。

Mhmm.

Speaker 1

That's fascinating, Michelle.

Speaker 0

Yeah, it is interesting.

Speaker 1

I think biology gave us this intuition, right?

Speaker 1

I mean, We have this built in probably from the days of running from the tigers that we had an intuition a tiger was coming for us or something, you know?

Speaker 1

Like it's I don't think there's anything magical about this.

Speaker 1

This is very basic and human.

Speaker 0

没错。

Right.

Speaker 0

是的。

Right.

Speaker 0

Exactly.

Speaker 0

But to express this is just really good for connection, I think, because it's a universal feeling that people can relate.

Speaker 0

Oh, yeah.

Speaker 0

I've also had that feeling before.

Speaker 0

It's good to share about yourself, to tell stories.

Speaker 0

There's so much.

Speaker 1

Oh yeah, this is like a gold mine for connection.

Speaker 1

Just what we're doing now is really interesting because we can learn about a lot about each other's lives, about the key moments, the key decisions we made, and how we made them.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

Right?

Speaker 0

对。

Mhmm.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

It really can share your story.

Speaker 0

So let's do a role play.

Speaker 0

In this role play, I got a new car and I am showing you.

Speaker 1

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 1

This is gorgeous.

Speaker 1

Oh, thank you.

Speaker 1

I love it.

Speaker 1

So how did you choose it?

Speaker 0

Oh, I wasn't actually planning on buying a car that day, but when I saw it, something told me this was the one.

Speaker 1

Well, when you know, you know.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 0

I saw a few other cars a month ago, but I just knew they weren't right for me.

Speaker 1

Sounds like you could feel it in your bones.

Speaker 1

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

And, yeah, and this this could be used for buying a car too.

Speaker 1

It's a little bit less.

Speaker 1

I mean, we've been talking about, like, the big things of, you know, moving or, like, adopting a dog or having another child or something.

Speaker 1

Right?

Speaker 1

Mhmm.

Speaker 1

But this could work too for something slightly more superficial.

Speaker 1

Right?

Speaker 1

Like buying a car.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

Right?

Speaker 0

Well, and I think that it kind of was used in a fun way, you know,

Speaker 1

like Sort of joking.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

Like you said, I think you were the one who kinda moved it into so I said I wasn't planning on buying a car that day, but some when I saw it, something told me this was the one.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 0

And then you said when you know, you know.

Speaker 0

And I think you said that because I said that this was the one.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

Like, we're like romanticizing this car like it's a partner.

Speaker 1

Oh, so that's really interesting what's going on here.

Speaker 1

The undertones of this conversation is, yeah, it's basically a superficial topic.

Speaker 1

You chose this car.

Speaker 1

好。

Okay.

Speaker 1

It's a car.

Speaker 1

It's metal.

Speaker 1

Right?

Speaker 1

But then you triggered a bit more of a dreaminess to it when you said this was the one.

Speaker 1

And usually that's used to talk about your partner.

Speaker 1

Right?

Speaker 1

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 1

So interesting.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

明白。

Mhmm.

Speaker 0

So, yeah, you kinda took it on to to do that.

Speaker 0

Oh, well, when you know you know, almost to make it like it was a romantic decision.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 1

Interesting.

Speaker 1

So again, you said something told me this was the one.

Speaker 1

对。

Mhmm.

Speaker 1

And then I said, when you know, you know.

Speaker 1

So I'm kinda teasing you a little bit.

Speaker 1

Right?

Speaker 1

I'm teasing Yes.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 0

And then I said, exactly.

Speaker 0

So and I'm kinda laughing at that because it's kind of a joke the way you used it.

Speaker 0

And I said, I saw a few other cars a month ago, but I just knew they weren't right for me.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

Now we're continuing the same theme.

Speaker 1

Right?

Speaker 1

Mhmm.

Speaker 1

It would making it heavier than it might be.

Speaker 1

Sounds like you could feel it in your bones.

Speaker 1

Right?

Speaker 1

So that's

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

So I have this intuition.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

I mean, people are very, like some people are very serious about their cars.

Speaker 0

Some people name their cars.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

当然。

Sure.

Speaker 0

Right?

Speaker 0

So they do, you know, they do some people just talk about their cars in a way like they're a person.

Speaker 1

Oh, yeah.

Speaker 1

不是。

No.

Speaker 1

And we and we've done and I'm really glad we went into cars so much this year.

Speaker 1

I think maybe it was it last fall.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

Did a whole series

Speaker 1

on cars in American culture.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

Might seem weird, right, what Michelle just said, but it is really a big part of our culture.

Speaker 1

It goes back to Henry Ford.

Speaker 1

I mean, like, just go through the history of highways built in America post World War two.

Speaker 1

Right?

Speaker 1

It's huge.

Speaker 1

I mean, really important to know that.

Speaker 1

And so, yeah, some Americans definitely treat their cars like like their baby in some ways.

Speaker 0

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

It seems crazy.

Speaker 1

Alright, guys.

Speaker 1

Speaker 1

Alright?

Speaker 0

Love it.

Speaker 0

好的。

Alright.

Speaker 0

Lindsay,

Lindsay, any other takeaways for today?

Speaker 1

I think we've got it all right here, Michelle.

Speaker 1

We all have this intuition.

Speaker 1

It's fun to get in touch with it, and then to articulate it, and then to speak in different levels of maybe someone's not talking about something that to you seems like it would be this intuitive thing, but you can make it that way.

Speaker 1

You can tease someone a little bit.

Speaker 1

There's a lot we can do here.

Speaker 1

Alright?

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

Oh, super fun.

Speaker 0

Alright, Lindsay.

Speaker 0

Well, time to jump off the mic.

Speaker 1

我回头

I'll talk

Speaker 0
