Speaker 1

你好,Michelle。

Hello, Michelle.

Speaker 1

你今天怎么样?

How are you today?

Speaker 1

你好,Aubrey。

Hi, Aubrey.

Speaker 1

我挺好的。

I am doing well.

Speaker 1

奥布里,你上次帮别人忙是什么时候?

Aubrey, when's the last time you did someone a favor?

Speaker 1

哦,我想起了一个特别小的忙。

Oh, I can think of a very small favor.

Speaker 1

当时我们带女儿去迪士尼参加毕业旅行,排队时前面有个人问我们,能不能帮我们占个队,他们先去买点吃的。

We were at Disneyland for my daughter's grad trip and someone was in line just in front of us and they asked, they were like, can you hold our place in line so we can go get food?

Speaker 1

我们马上回来。

We'll be right back.

Speaker 1

我当然答应了,但其实这根本不算什么忙。

And I'm like absolutely and it's not.

Speaker 1

说实话,我这也算不上帮了他们什么大忙。

I'm not even really doing them a favor really.

Speaker 1

他们说他们要去办点事,然后还要回来。

They're like we're going to go and we want to come back.

Speaker 1

这样行吗?

Is it okay?

Speaker 1

你不会生气的吧。

Like you won't be mad.

Speaker 1

这只是个小忙。

It was a small favor.

Speaker 1

完全没问题,你知道的。

It'd be like absolutely no problem you know.

Speaker 1

那你呢?

What about you?

Speaker 1

我觉得我们平时都会做这样的小忙,但作为妈妈,帮朋友或其他人的忙就少一些了,因为我们的时间都花在孩子身上了。

Feel like we all do little favors like that all the time and then as moms it's a little more rare that we're doing other favors for friends and things because we're doing favors for our kids all the time.

Speaker 1

所以大家也不太会经常找我们帮忙。

So people don't ask us as often for favors.

Speaker 1

你也是这样吗?

Is that the same for you?

Speaker 1

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 1

确实是这样。

That's true.

Speaker 1

我这一辈子都在为孩子忙活。

My my whole life is a favor for my kids.

Speaker 1

对。

Yep.

Speaker 1

二十四小时全天候都在为孩子忙活。

Twenty four seven doing favors for our children.

Speaker 1

开车送他们去各种地方,给他们做饭,辅导作业,全是这种没完没了的帮忙。

Driving them everywhere, cooking for them, helping them with homework, just constant favors.

Speaker 1

不停地给零食,一个接一个。

Getting snack after snack after snack after snack.

Speaker 1

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 1

今天呢,我们收到了一位听众特别好的问题。

Well, today we got this really great listener question.

Speaker 1

对。

Yes.

Speaker 1

我来念一下。

I'll go ahead and read it.

Speaker 1

这个问题是YouTube上的。

It was from YouTube.

Speaker 1

Malroa9748说,奥布里在《我是多语者》节目上表现很棒。

Malroa9748 said, Aubrey was great on I'm Polyglot.

Speaker 1

好的,谢谢。

Okay, thank you.

Speaker 1

首先,我之前作为嘉宾,用法语参加了《我是多语者》播客。

First of all, I was a guest in French on the I'm Polyglot podcast.

Speaker 1

如果你错过了,可以去看看那期较早的节目,那次用法语对我来说有点紧张。

If you missed it, you could go and check out that older episode and that was a little stressful for me in French.

Speaker 1

是的,谢谢。

Yeah, thank you.

Speaker 1

感谢。但他们接着问,我想知道英语里有没有一个习语,对应“我想着回报这个好意”,但我觉得这不算习语吧。

Appreciate But that then they asked, I wonder if there's an English idiom for I thought about return the favor, but it's not an idiom, I guess.

Speaker 1

哦,这太有意思了。

Oh, so this is so interesting.

Speaker 1

这是一个法语习语,意思是回报一个好意或回敬一个赞美。

This is a French idiom, which means to return a favor or return a compliment.

Speaker 1

说白了,你就是做件好事,报答一下以前帮过你的人。

Essentially you're just doing something kind, a good turn for someone who helped you in the past.

Speaker 1

不过有意思的是,这个短语字面意思是把电梯送回去,也就是这么个意思。

But what's interesting, it literally translates to send the elevator back down is what that means.

Speaker 1

这里的 ascenseur 就是电梯的意思。

As an sire is an elevator.

Speaker 1

所以它暗示的意思是,如果别人曾经帮过你、让你有所提升,那你就该反过来去帮他们一把。

So it implies like if someone helped you or helped you rise, you would return the favor to then help them.

Speaker 1

特别有意思的是,我从来没想过要像米歇尔那样做。

And what's really interesting is I've never thought about the elevator Michelle.

Speaker 1

比如我坐电梯上楼的时候,我不会按按钮让它再下来。

Like when I go up an elevator, I don't hit the button to send it back down.

Speaker 1

我压根儿就没想过这事儿,你有过这种想法吗?

I've never even thought about it, have you?

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

没有,我从来没想过。

No, I never have.

Speaker 1

但问题是,可能有人在这个楼层需要电梯,但这种情况挺少见的。

But the thing is figured someone on this level might need to but take it that's pretty rare.

Speaker 1

如果我在16楼,更可能有人在一楼需要电梯。

If I'm on the 16th Floor, it's much more likely that someone will need it at the bottom.

Speaker 1

所以我在想,这个习语在法语里存在。

So I wonder if this because this idiom exists in French.

Speaker 1

我想知道在法国文化里,是不是大家都会按按钮把电梯送回大厅。

I wonder if that's common in French culture to hit the button and send the elevator back like to the lobby.

Speaker 1

对,我也想知道这个。

Yeah, I want to know about this too.

Speaker 1

我觉得我们太没礼貌了,都不把电梯送回去。

Think we're so rude that we don't send the elevator back down.

Speaker 1

也许吧。

Maybe.

Speaker 1

我开始怀疑一切了,米歇尔。

I'm questioning everything, Michelle.

Speaker 1

天哪,不是吧。

Oh my gosh, No.

Speaker 1

我以前从没想过这个,但确实,这真的很有意思。

I never thought about this before, but yeah, this is really interesting.

Speaker 1

所以,我是说,是的。

So, I mean, yeah.

Speaker 1

所以这全都是关于帮助和表达感激,这对建立联系很有好处。

So this is all about assistance and self showing gratitude, which is great for connection.

Speaker 1

这也有助于加强社会纽带。

It also helps strengthen social bonds.

Speaker 1

所以我们要分享几种用英语说“回报人情”的不同方式。

So we're gonna share a few different ways to say return the favor in English.

Speaker 1

是的,大家记得点关注哦。

Yes and be sure to hit follow guys.

Speaker 1

我们有很多精彩的节目,里面都是地道的表达和词汇,就像今天这样,能帮你更好地用英语交流。

We have so many amazing episodes with idiomatic language, vocabulary that you can use to connect in English just like today's.

Speaker 1

所以不管你在哪里听播客,都请订阅 All Ears English,这样你就不会错过任何一期了。

So wherever you find your podcast, follow All Ears English so that you never miss an episode.

Speaker 1

没错,就是这样。

Yes, exactly.

Speaker 1

好了,那么 Aubrey,我们是不是可以直接说 return the favor 呢?

Alright, so Aubrey, so can we just say return the favor?

Speaker 1

对,没错。

Yes, absolutely.

Speaker 1

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 1

当别人帮了我们,我们想让他们知道以后也一定会帮他们的时候,就会用到这句话。

We use it when someone helps us and we want them to know that we would definitely help them in the future.

Speaker 1

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 1

我们会说,需要我帮忙的时候告诉我一声。

We'll say, let me know when I can return the favor.

Speaker 1

如果我能帮上忙,我很乐意回报你。

I'd love to return the favor if ever I can.

Speaker 1

你就说,谢谢。

You're like, thank you.

Speaker 1

这是一种感谢和表达感激的方式,感谢别人为你做了某件事,同时让他们知道,我欠你一个人情。

It's a way of thanking and showing gratitude for someone doing something and letting them know like, I owe you one.

Speaker 1

我想回报你。

I'd like to return the favor.

Speaker 1

对,这样听起来非常自然、积极。

Yeah, So yeah, this just sounds super natural, positive.

Speaker 1

非常适合日常对话。

It's really good for casual conversations.

Speaker 1

所以这真的很棒。

So this is really great.

Speaker 1

我们来通过几个简短的角色扮演,看看这句话在实际对话中是怎么用的。

Let's let's show in a couple short role plays how this would sound.

Speaker 1

好的,没问题。

Oh, yeah.

Speaker 1

那开始吧。

Here we go.

Speaker 1

谢谢你周末帮我搬家。

Thanks for helping me move this weekend.

Speaker 1

哦,当然。

Oh, of course.

Speaker 1

去年你帮过我。

You helped me last year.

Speaker 1

我只是还个人情。

I'm just returning the favor.

Speaker 1

不错。

Nice.

Speaker 1

再举一个例子,我真的很感谢你帮我校对书稿。

Or another one, I really appreciate you proofreading my book.

Speaker 1

哦,没问题。

Oh, no problem.

Speaker 1

上周你帮了我修改简历。

You helped me with my resume last week.

Speaker 1

我很乐意回报你的帮助。

I'm happy to return the favor.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

我们经常这么做,因为这是表达‘不客气’的绝佳方式。更重要的是,你通过这种方式建立了连接,让对方明白你不是白帮这个忙的。

We do this often where it's such a great way to say you're welcome, but in such a great, you're connecting here by letting them know I'm not doing this for nothing.

Speaker 1

你帮过我,我很感激,现在我只是回报这份人情。

You helped me and I appreciated it and now I'm returning the favor.

Speaker 1

再来一个例子。

Here's another one.

Speaker 1

你不在的时候我可以帮你照看狗。

I can watch your dog while you're away.

Speaker 1

那太好了,如果以后有什么需要我帮忙的,随时告诉我。

That would be great and let me know if I can return the favor sometime.

Speaker 1

对,我们也是这样做的,对吧?

Yeah, we do this as well, right?

Speaker 1

这是一种表达感谢的方式,同时也让他们知道,以后我也很乐意帮助他们。

It's a way of thanking and letting them know I would be happy to help you in the future.

Speaker 1

这其实就是一种表达感激的方式。

It's just a way to show gratitude.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 1

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 1

所以,是的,回报恩情是个很好的说法,但如果你想丰富你的英语表达,我们会教你一些其他的说法。

So yeah, return the favor is a really great one, but if you wanna vary your English, we're gonna teach you some other things that you can say.

Speaker 1

第一个是“pay you back”。

So the first one is pay you back.

Speaker 1

这个意思是回报别人为你做的事。

So this is to repay someone for something they did for you.

Speaker 1

而且它比较随意。

And it's casual.

Speaker 1

而且它不仅仅是指钱,你听到“pay”可能会想,哦,那只是关于钱的。

And it it's not only about like, when you hear pay, you might think, oh, it's only about money.

Speaker 1

它可以指钱,但也可以只是人情。

It can be about money but it can also just be favors.

Speaker 1

任何事都可以。

Just anything.

Speaker 1

就像如果有人帮你买了午餐,或者你忘了带钱包,他们帮你垫付了,你就可以说“我会还你的”。

Just like returning to If someone buys your lunch or pays maybe you didn't ring your wallet so they have to cover you and be like, I'll pay you back.

Speaker 1

这跟钱有关,但我们也会用它来表示人情。

That is about money but we do use this for favors as well.

Speaker 1

我们来为这个做几个角色扮演吧。

Let's do a couple of role plays for this one.

Speaker 1

你忘带钱包了吗?

Did you forget your wallet?

Speaker 1

别担心,早餐我来付。

Don't worry, I can cover breakfast.

Speaker 1

哦,太感谢了。

Oh, thanks so much.

Speaker 1

下次我请你。

I'll pay you back next time.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

或者我帮大家付了酒店的押金。

Or I paid everyone's deposit for the hotel.

Speaker 1

谢谢。

Thanks.

Speaker 1

我可以用 Venmo 还你吗?

Can I pay you back on Venmo?

Speaker 1

可以啊。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

所以这两种情况都是实际还钱。

So both of these are paying back actual money.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

不过我们来练几个关于还人情的例子吧。

But let's do a couple for paying back a favor.

Speaker 1

谢谢你到机场接我。

Thanks for picking me up at the airport.

Speaker 1

我该怎么回报你呢?

How can I return the favor?

Speaker 1

哦,没关系。

Oh no worries.

Speaker 1

你以后请我吃顿好吃的就行。

You can pay me back with one of your yummy meals sometime.

Speaker 1

对,所以不总是等价交换,比如搭车换搭车。

Yeah, so it's not always like a ride for a ride.

Speaker 1

可以是请你吃顿饭来回报我。

Be like pay me back by inviting me to dinner.

Speaker 1

对,我很喜欢这个。

Yes, I love that.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 1

这个很棒。

And this is great.

Speaker 1

我经常用这个。

I use this one a lot.

Speaker 1

比如我会还你人情。

Like I'll pay you back.

Speaker 1

还你人情就是回报你的好意,对吧?

I'll pay you back means return the favor, right?

Speaker 1

对,没错。

Yes, exactly.

Speaker 1

天哪,这个话题真好,因为表达这个意思的方式太多了。

Oh my gosh, is such a good topic because there are so many different ways to express this.

Speaker 1

所以这真的很有意思。

So this is really interesting.

Speaker 1

对,还有一个说法是“互惠互利”。

Yeah, another one is quid pro quo.

Speaker 1

意思是用一个好处换另一个好处。

This means a favor exchange for a favor.

Speaker 1

这个说法稍微正式一点。

It's a little more formal.

Speaker 1

这通常用在商务或谈判场合。

It's often used in business or negotiations.

Speaker 1

偶尔在日常对话中也会听到,但比较少见。

Every now and then you'll hear it in daily conversations, but it's a little more rare.

Speaker 1

我们来做个角色扮演。

Here's a role play.

Speaker 1

要不我帮你准备演示,你帮我看看报告?

How about I help you prepare for the presentation and you review my report?

Speaker 1

听起来挺公平的,算是互惠互利。

Sounds like a fair quid pro quo.

Speaker 1

不错。

Nice.

Speaker 1

你有没有注意到,她支持他的提案之后,他就提拔了她?

Or did you notice he promoted her after she supported his proposal?

Speaker 1

对,有些人在猜这是不是一种利益交换。

Yeah, some people are wondering if it's a quid pro quo.

Speaker 1

对,所以我平时不太会在日常对话里用这个词。

Yeah, so I don't use this often in casual conversation.

Speaker 1

我确实不常用。

I don't.

Speaker 1

但如果有人说了,我也知道他们是什么意思。

But if someone said it, I would know what they mean.

Speaker 1

也许他们这么说就是为了开玩笑、闹着玩,或者故意显得正式一点,对吧?

Maybe they would even be doing it to be like joking or playful or facetious sort of intentionally being more formal for some reason, right?

Speaker 1

明白。

Mhmm.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

很多学英语的人都很注重语法。

Many English learners focus on grammar.

Speaker 0

他们希望句子是正确的,但流利不仅仅是正确。

They want their sentences to be correct, but fluency isn't just about being correct.

Speaker 0

这关乎听起来自然、选对词、快速回应,而不是在脑子里逐句翻译。

It's about sounding natural, choosing the right phrase, responding quickly without translating every thought in your head.

Speaker 0

这就是为什么有些人语法规则懂得很多,但在对话中还是觉得不自在。

That's why someone can know a lot of grammar rules and still feel uncomfortable in conversations.

Speaker 0

真正的流利来自于理解表达模式、语气和自然的说法。

Real fluency comes from understanding patterns, tone, and natural expressions.

Speaker 0

我们免费的“两分钟流利度测试”能帮你了解自己的水平,以及哪些技能能让你进步。

Our free two minute fluency quiz helps you discover your level and what skills will move you forward.

Speaker 0

现在就访问 allearsenglish.com/fluencyscore 来做这个测试吧。

Speaker 0

网址是 allearsenglish.com/fluencyscore。

That's allearsenglish.com/fluencyscore.

Speaker 1

好,下一个,Michelle,就是“你帮我,我帮你”这个说法。

Alright, another one Michelle is if you scratch my back I'll scratch yours.

Speaker 1

意思就是说,如果你帮我,我也会帮你。

This means if you help me I'll help you.

Speaker 1

意思是互相都有好处。

Something is mutually beneficial.

Speaker 1

这话挺随意的,带着点开玩笑的意味。

It's very informal, playful.

Speaker 1

我大概不会对同事这么说。

I would not say this to a coworker probably.

Speaker 1

这更适合朋友、家人或者特别熟的人,因为听起来像是在暗示肢体接触,所以可能会让人误会,没错。

It's more for like friends, family, people that you're really close because it is like you're implying physical touching right so it could give somebody the wrong impression exactly.

Speaker 1

举个例子。

Here's an example.

Speaker 1

好的,没问题,你帮我搬这个沙发,回头我也帮你组装宜家家具。

Yeah, alright, you help me move this couch Sure but I need help with the IKEA furniture later.

Speaker 1

成交。

Deal.

Speaker 1

这就是互相帮忙的意思。

You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 1

而且我觉得这个说法有点过时了。

And this is also a little outdated I would say.

Speaker 1

现在不太常听到了。

I don't hear it very often anymore.

Speaker 1

你可能会在电视剧、电影里听到,尤其是比较老的那种,现在也有人用,但我自己不太用。

You might hear it in a TV show, movie, especially something older and someone could use it right now but I don't use it often.

Speaker 1

感觉有点老派,有点过时。

It feels a little antiquated, a little old fashioned.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

有意思的是,我注意到你好像把“如果”省掉了。

And what's interesting is I noticed that you dropped the if, I think.

Speaker 1

这种情况也是有的。

That can happen.

Speaker 1

你可能会直接说,你帮我,我帮你。

You might just say you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours.

Speaker 1

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 1

所以这是另一个例子。

So here's another example of that.

Speaker 1

如果你洗碗,我就帮你做作业。

I'll help you with your homework if you do the dishes.

Speaker 1

当然,你帮我,我帮你。

Of course, you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

那个场景很有意思,去掉那个“如果”确实感觉更随意、更像日常对话。

That scene it's interesting how just removing that if does feel a little bit more, you know, casual conversational.

Speaker 1

不管怎么说,听起来都有点老派,但那样更好。

Either way, they feel sound a little old fashioned, but that is better.

Speaker 1

只要去掉那个“如果”,听起来就会顺耳一些。

Just removing the if makes it feel a little better.

Speaker 1

没错。

Right.

Speaker 1

对。

Right.

Speaker 1

确实如此。

Right.

Speaker 1

这个说法非常自然。

And this one is very, very natural.

Speaker 1

我欠你一个人情。

I owe you one.

Speaker 1

有时候人们甚至直接说,我欠你的。

Or even sometimes people just say, I owe you.

Speaker 1

对。

Yes.

Speaker 1

这个说法我已经提过好几次了,因为它确实自然得多。

Even said this a couple times already because this is so much more natural.

Speaker 1

我本来想说‘我要还你一个人情’之类的。

I'm like, I'm a return you the a favor.

Speaker 1

但我直接就说‘欠你个人情’。

I'm just gonna say, I owe you one.

Speaker 1

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 1

所以,对,这就是在说,你要承认别人为你做了好事,以后你得还个人情。

So, yeah, this is about, you know, acknowledging that someone did something nice for you and you now owe them a favor in the future.

Speaker 1

所以再说一遍,这个说法比较随意、口语化。

So again, this would be used with just it's casual.

Speaker 1

适合跟朋友、家人或者同事闲聊的时候用。

So casual conversation with friends, family, coworkers.

Speaker 1

真的挺实用的。

It's really useful.

Speaker 1

那我来做个小角色扮演,给大家演示一下具体该怎么用。

So I'm gonna start a little role play to show how this would be going.

Speaker 1

好嘞。

Alright.

Speaker 1

行。

Okay.

Speaker 1

谢谢你今天帮我顶班。

Thanks for covering my shift today.

Speaker 1

我欠你一个人情。

I owe you one.

Speaker 1

没问题。

No problem.

Speaker 1

包在我身上。

I got you.

Speaker 1

谢谢你的帮忙,好的。

Thanks for help oh, okay.

Speaker 1

这样就可以了。

This is okay.

Speaker 1

我觉得这是两个不同的角色扮演。

It's two separate role plays, I think.

Speaker 1

然后这里是另一个。

And so here's another one.

Speaker 1

谢谢你帮我把那些箱子搬上楼。

Thanks for helping me carry those boxes upstairs.

Speaker 1

随时都可以。

Anytime.

Speaker 1

说真的,我欠你一个人情。

Seriously, I owe you one.

Speaker 1

对,这有可能是恰好住在隔壁的同事。

Yeah, and this potentially could be coworkers who happen to live next to each other.

Speaker 1

但更可能是两件独立的事情。

But yeah, it could more likely two separate things.

Speaker 1

不过,说“我欠你一个人情”比说“我会还的”要地道自然得多。

But yeah, this is so native and natural to say I owe you one right instead of I will.

Speaker 1

总有一天我会找机会还这个人情的。

I shall return the favor one day given time.

Speaker 1

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 1

我们就会直接说“我欠你一个人情”。

We're just gonna be like, I owe you one.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 1

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 1

好了,奥布里。

Alright, Aubrey.

Speaker 1

我们要不要把这些内容串起来,做一个更大的角色扮演?

Should we put it all together in an in one larger role play?

Speaker 1

好的。

Yes.

Speaker 1

在这个角色扮演里,我昨晚在家办了个晚宴,你负责买菜并帮忙做饭。

In this role play, I hosted a dinner party at my home last night, and you bought the groceries and helped cook.

Speaker 1

行吗?

Alright?

Speaker 1

那我先来吧,好的。

I'll start us Okay.

Speaker 1

我欠你多少买菜钱?

What do I owe you for groceries?

Speaker 1

哦,50块,不着急。

Oh, $50, but no rush.

Speaker 1

你随时还我就行。

You can pay me back anytime.

Speaker 1

谢谢。

Thank you.

Speaker 1

再次感谢你昨天帮我做饭。

And thanks again for helping me cook yesterday.

Speaker 1

我一个人可搞不定。

I could not have done it alone.

Speaker 1

哦,不客气。

Oh, of course.

Speaker 1

挺有意思的。

It was fun.

Speaker 1

这次真是欠你个人情了。

Well, I definitely owe you one.

Speaker 1

其实下个月我办晚宴的时候,可能还得请你帮个忙。

Actually, I might ask you to return the favor when I host my dinner party next month.

Speaker 1

一言为定。

Deal.

Speaker 1

互相帮忙嘛。

You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours.

Speaker 1

好。

Okay.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

这事儿挺有意思的。

So this is interesting.

Speaker 1

你说这是不是叫‘互相帮忙’,对吧,米歇尔?

Would you say you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours there, Michelle?

Speaker 1

这种说法我平时不太用。

This isn't really in my vernacular.

Speaker 1

我也很少这么说。

I don't see don't really say it.

Speaker 1

我觉得这说法有点过时了。

I do think it is a little bit old fashioned.

Speaker 1

我现在其实不太常听到这个说法了,但确实,你知道,这种情况在我们的节目里会出现。

I don't really hear it very often now, but it is definitely, you know, there's so this happens on on the show.

Speaker 1

你知道,我们最后会教一些东西,然后我们会说,哦,这个可能不常用,但你可能会在电视剧、电影里听到,了解一下总是好的。

You know, we end up teaching things that we'll say, oh, it may not be used, but you might hear it in a TV show, in a movie, and it's just good to know.

Speaker 1

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 1

嘿。

Hey.

Speaker 1

如果有人用这种方式提到帮你挠背,那你就知道是什么意思了,不然你可能会想,等等,我现在要帮你挠背吗?

If somebody talks about scratching your back and then in this kind of a way, then you'll know what it means if somebody uses it because otherwise you're gonna be like, wait, I'm supposed to scratch your back now?

Speaker 1

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 1

挺好的。

Are good.

Speaker 1

这些了解起来很重要。

These are important to know.

Speaker 1

这是一个表达方式。

This is an expression.

Speaker 1

我们希望你知道它的意思,也知道在什么场合使用它。

We want you to know what it means and we want you to know what context to use it in.

Speaker 1

我不太推荐用它,因为它有点过时了,不过你可能会听到。

I wouldn't recommend it because it is a little old fashioned and so you will hear it.

Speaker 1

我很高兴你们知道它的意思,但我肯定会用其他更常见的表达,尤其是在日常随意的对话中。

I'm glad you guys know what it means but I would definitely use one of these others that are much more common especially in casual everyday conversations.

Speaker 1

对,对,确实是这样。

Yeah, yeah definitely.

Speaker 1

好,那我们要过一遍吗?

Okay so should we go through it?

Speaker 1

对,首先我说了,或者你说了,你可以随时还我钱。

Yeah so first I said, or you said you can pay me back anytime.

Speaker 1

对,这里的“还你钱”,就像我们说的,是指实际的现金。

Yeah so this pay you back, like we said, here it's for actual cash.

Speaker 1

买菜花了50美元。你说随时还我就行,这里指的是真金白银。但后来你也可以说,嘿,要不我做饭的时候你搭把手帮忙,就算还我了。

The groceries cost $50 You're saying pay me back anytime and that's actual money but you could also later say, hey maybe you could pay me back when I do the dinner and you could help cook.

Speaker 1

所以这不一定非得是钱的事儿。

So it doesn't have to be about money.

Speaker 1

挺有意思的。

It's interesting.

Speaker 1

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 1

然后你说,那我肯定得欠你个人情。

And then you said, well I definitely owe you one.

Speaker 1

意思就是欠了人情,不过我们很少会说,我想你可以说,我肯定欠你一个人情。

Meaning, owe a favor but we will rarely say I guess you could say, I definitely owe you a favor.

Speaker 1

不过这种说法其实更普遍,就是直接说‘我欠你个人情’。

But this is much more common just This to say I owe much common.

Speaker 1

“我欠你一个人情。”

I owe you one.

Speaker 1

然后你又提到,下个月办晚宴的时候可能会请你帮个忙来回报这份人情。

And then you said, I might ask you to return the favor when I host my dinner party next month.

Speaker 1

像这种具体的约定,我们通常不太建议这么做。

And then that one that we would not recommend as much.

Speaker 1

你帮我,我也帮你。

You scratch my luck.

Speaker 1

那我也帮你解答问题。

I'll scratch your question.

Speaker 1

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 1

这个问题问得真好。

This was this was a really great question.

Speaker 1

我很高兴能学到关于电梯的知识,也喜欢上了这句法语习语。

I'm glad that I learned something about the elevator and I like learning a French idiom.

Speaker 1

我可能以后会开始这么做了。

I know I might start doing that.

Speaker 1

等电梯把我送上去之后,我可能会去大堂转转,这样在大堂等的人就不用等那么久了。

I might start hitting lobby after the elevator takes me up because then the people in the lobby don't have to wait so long.

Speaker 1

这样可能性大多了。

It's much more likely.

Speaker 1

我怎么以前从来没想过这个?

Why have I never thought about this before?

Speaker 1

有点不可思议。

It's kind of crazy.

Speaker 1

我不知道为什么问别人是不是这么做。

I don't know why asked people if they do that.

Speaker 1

我很好奇,而且这真是个很好的聊天话题。

I'm very curious And this is such a great connection topic.

Speaker 1

所有这些都是在表达感谢。

All of these these are showing gratitude.

Speaker 1

它们不仅表明你愿意帮别人忙,而且你还有这些很棒的说法来感谢别人帮你忙,让他们知道你想回报他们。

They're showing not only are you willing to do a favor, but you have these great phrases to thank others for, you know, doing a favor for you and letting them know like, wanna pay you back.

Speaker 1
