英语学习者最大的错误是什么?

The biggest mistake English learners make?

Speaker 1

就是以为自己卡住了。

Assuming they're stuck.

Speaker 1

他们觉得自己已经到极限了,但其实大多数学习者根本没有到极限。

They think they've reached their limit, but most learners haven't reached a limit at all.

Speaker 1

他们只是把精力放在了不适合自己当前水平的技能上。

Speaker 0

嘿,Aubrey。

Hey there, Aubrey.

Speaker 0

今天一切怎么样?

How's everything going today?

Speaker 1

我很好,Lindsay。

I'm great, Lindsay.

Speaker 1

你呢?

How are you?

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

现在是夏天。

It's summer.

Speaker 0

我们现在正值盛夏。

We're in mid summer here.

Speaker 0

刚进入盛夏,亚利桑那州一定很热,但……

Just getting into must be very warm in Arizona, but It

Speaker 1

确实非常热。

is really hot.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 0

我们还在坚持着。

We're surviving.

Speaker 1

说实话,我不得不承认夏天真的来了。

In my heart of hearts, I have to admit that summer is here.

Speaker 0

对,这正是我想问的。

Yeah, that was gonna be my question.

Speaker 0

有没有什么事情你不想承认,但心里明白是真的?

Is there anything that you don't want to admit, but you know in your heart of hearts is true?

Speaker 1

不过对于那个问题,我其实还有另一个很好的答案。

I actually have another good answer for that question though.

Speaker 1

好,我们刚和邻居家一大群人一起去海边玩了。

Okay, so we just did a big neighbor family trip to the beach.

Speaker 1

我们每年都会去Rocky Point,这次旅行中有几次我都在想,这可能是最后一次了,因为我们很多孩子都长大了。

We go to Rocky Point every year and there were a few times this trip I was like this might be the last time because a lot of our kids are getting older.

Speaker 1

他们要去上大学了。

They're going to college.

Speaker 1

他们分散在各个地方,每个人都很忙,对吧?

They're like spread everywhere and everyone's so busy, right?

Speaker 1

所以越来越难找到大家都能去的时间,而且现在人这么多,有些大一点的孩子已经有自己的孩子了,所以协调起来越来越难。

So it's getting harder and harder to find a time we can all go and then when we're there, there's so many of us now, some of the older kids are having kids and so like more and more it's really hard to coordinate.

Speaker 1

谁也说不准。

You never know.

Speaker 1

我们也许还能再组织一次。

We might be able to pull it off again.

Speaker 1

但在我内心深处,我觉得这可能是最后一次了。

But in my heart of hearts, I think this might have been the last the

Speaker 0

最后一次,那种感觉怎么样?

last Does that feel?

Speaker 0

是觉得难过,还是说……

Is that sad or is that like

Speaker 1

全都很难过。

all sad?

Speaker 1

是的,一直都很开心。

Yes, it's been so fun.

Speaker 1

和一大群人一起旅行很有趣。

It's fun to travel with a big group.

Speaker 1

虽然很麻烦。

It's difficult.

Speaker 1

虽然麻烦,但有很多地方真的很好玩,我们总是很期待。

It's difficult, but it there's a lot of things about it that are really fun and we always really look forward to it.

Speaker 1

哦,不。

So Oh, no.

Speaker 1

这不是苦乐参半。

It's not bittersweet.

Speaker 1

就是纯粹的苦。

It's just bitter.

Speaker 1

我真的很伤心。

I'm really sad.

Speaker 0

听到这个我很难过,但至少你坚持了这么久。

I'm sorry to hear it, but at least you did it for so long.

Speaker 0

我是说,有时候人们不是说,不要为结束而悲伤,要为曾经发生过而庆祝,之类的。

I mean, sometimes what do they say of don't mourn the fact that it's over celebrate that it happened or something.

Speaker 0

这就是我们

That's what we

Speaker 1

需要做的。

need to do.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 1

我们每年都会拍一张大合照,现在看着第一年的照片,有些当时还很小的小孩现在已经上大学了。

We're looking at some of the we always take a big group photo and we look at the first year and some of the kids that were so little are now in college.

Speaker 1

真是不可思议。

It's crazy.

Speaker 1

我们年复一年地做这件事,已经好多年了。

We've been doing it for years and years.

Speaker 1

所以,是的,我们就庆祝一下我们曾经做到过吧。

So yes, we'll just celebrate that we were able to do it.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

所以我觉得这一期节目会有点伤感。

So this is gonna be a sentimental episode, I think.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

对。

Right.

Speaker 0

发自内心。

Heart of hearts.

Speaker 0

所以今天这期节目来自Kin的一个问题。

So today's episode comes from a question from Kin.

Speaker 0

Aubrey,你收到了Kin的这个问题。

And Aubrey, you got this question from Kin.

Speaker 0

跟我们说说这个问题吧。

Tell us about the It

Speaker 1

是在我们的问答环节里。

was in our q and a.

Speaker 1

我们个人教练班的学生每周都有一次问答。

So any students in our personal coach classes, have a weekly q and a.

Speaker 1

我会在那里,他们可以问关于英语的问题,比如课程里学到的内容,或者他们在听英语时遇到的任何问题。

I'm there and they ask questions about English, things they're learning in their course or anything that they find as they're hearing English.

Speaker 1

她在电视节目里听到有人说“in my heart of hearts”。

And she heard in a TV show someone say in my heart of hearts.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

而且从上下文来看,她不太清楚他们是什么意思。

And she it wasn't clear from the context what they meant.

Speaker 1

所以我们对此进行了很棒的讨论。

So we had a great discussion about it.

Speaker 1

我在电话里说,我要为《All Ears English》准备一集节目,因为这是很棒的词汇。

And I said on the call, was like, I'm going to prep an episode for All Ears English because this is great vocabulary.

Speaker 0

这个确实很棒。

This is a great one.

Speaker 0

而且既然我们这里讲的是连接,这集节目非常典型,因为我们需要能够表达生活中的情感,那些更感性的事情。

And since we're all about connection here, I mean, is a very quintessential All Ears English episode because we need to be able to articulate the emotional things in life, the more sentimental things.

Speaker 0

我们现在就给你们提供工具,朋友们。

We're gonna give you the tools to do it now, guys.

Speaker 0

但是,Aubrey,在我们开始之前,我们的听众应该立刻做什么呢?

But, Aubrey, what should our listeners do immediately before we start?

Speaker 1

对。

Yes.

Speaker 1

Hit follow wherever you are listening.

Speaker 1

打开你的搜索栏,输入All Ears English,然后关注这个播客,这样你就不会错过任何一集了。

Open your search bar, type in All Ears English, and follow the podcast so you never miss an episode.

Speaker 0

对。

Yes.

Speaker 0

大家现在就点击那个关注按钮吧。

Hit that follow button right now, guys.

Speaker 0

好了。

Alright.

Speaker 0

让我们开始吧。

Let's get into it.

Speaker 0

要聊这些感性的话题,我们得先学点词汇。

We need some vocabulary if we're gonna get all sentimental.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 1

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 1

我们的第一个表达是“in my heart of hearts”。

Our first expression is that one, in my heart of hearts.

Speaker 1

这个表达挺有意思的,我能理解为什么它听起来有点奇怪。

It is a funny because I can see why it would be strange.

Speaker 1

就像是在问“in my heart of hearts”到底是什么意思?

Was like what does that even mean in my heart of hearts?

Speaker 0

我是说,Aubrey,它到底是什么意思?

I mean what does it mean Aubrey?

Speaker 0

它是什么意思呢?

What does it mean?

Speaker 1

对,这就是你内心深处最真实、最诚恳的感受或信念。

Yeah, so this is your deepest, most sincere feelings or beliefs.

Speaker 1

通常是比较反思性的,对吧?

It's usually reflective, right?

Speaker 1

你得好好想想,当我思考什么对我来说最重要时,我真正感受到的是什么。

You're you're having to kind of think about what do I really feel when I think about what's the most important to me.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

这可能不是最方便接受的真相。

It might not be the most convenient truth.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

但它来自更深的地方,不仅仅是出于压力或对环境的反应。

But it's something that comes from deeper down than just like a place of stress or just responding to the environment.

Speaker 0

这就像一种直觉。

It's it's like a gut feeling.

Speaker 0

就是心里那种直觉,发自内心的感觉。

A gut a gut feeling in your heart.

Speaker 1

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 1

而且它可能跟遗憾有关,也可能跟真正的自我发现有关。

And it might be about regret or it might be about like real self discovery.

Speaker 1

你其实是在说,如果我愿意承认自己最深的感觉,对吧?

You're sort of saying like, if I'm going to admit my deepest feelings, right?

Speaker 1

想象一下,在你的心里面还有一个更深的心,你正在潜入那里,去感受最深处的情感。

So imagine a heart within your heart, you're diving into that the deepest of feelings.

Speaker 0

对,我觉得在现代文化里,你知道,有太多东西让我们远离那种对自己深刻的直觉。

Yeah, and I feel like in our modern culture, you know, we have so many things that pull us away from that deep sense of intuition about ourselves.

Speaker 0

我们对自己了解的那些东西,文化却让我们有点偏离它们。

The things that we know about ourselves that the culture pulls us away from it a little bit.

Speaker 0

但我们可以做一些事情来更接近它,比如花时间在大自然中,花时间反思,对。

But there are certain things we can do to get closer to it, spending time in nature, spending time reflecting, Yeah.

Speaker 0

也许冥想吧。

Meditation maybe,

Speaker 1

那我给你举几个例子。

So here's some examples.

Speaker 1

首先,在我内心深处,我一直知道自己想成为一名作家。

First, in my heart of hearts, I always knew I wanted to become a writer.

Speaker 1

所以,我可以想象,如果有人在公司上班,然后退休后终于能写作了,他们会说,你知道,在我内心深处,我一直知道这就是我想做的事。

So this I can imagine if someone's working like a corporate job and then they retire and later they're able to write, they would say this like, you know, deep down in my heart of hearts, always knew this is what I wanted to be doing.

Speaker 0

对。

Yes.

Speaker 0

再举一个例子。

Here's another example.

Speaker 0

虽然我不想承认,但在内心深处,我感觉这段友谊正在渐行渐远。

Though I didn't want to admit it in my heart of hearts, I felt the friendship was drifting apart.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

也许你和某人做了很久的朋友,一直都很亲近,但现在你们的生活走上了不同的道路。

Maybe you've been friends with someone for a long time and you always were close and now like your lives are taking different paths.

Speaker 0

这种情况时有发生,而且

It happens, And

Speaker 1

我们通常用这个表达,是在不得不承认自己感到遗憾的事情时。

this is often when we use this expression when it's something we have to admit that we're regretful about.

Speaker 1

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 1

就像,不想承认这件事。

It's like, don't want to admit this.

Speaker 1

我为此感到难过,但在内心深处,我不得不承认这是事实。

I'm sad about this, but in my heart of hearts, I have to admit it's the truth.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 0

还有“deep down”也是类似的意思,基本上一样,对吧?

And then deep down is another one, which basically means the same thing, right?

Speaker 0

我觉得差别不大。

There's not too much of a difference, think.

Speaker 1

对,没错吧?

Exactly, right?

Speaker 1

这两个可以互换使用。

We use these interchangeably.

Speaker 1

不过我觉得“deep down”更常用一些。

Well, I think deep down is a little more common.

Speaker 1

像“in my heart of hearts”就有点啰嗦。

Like in my heart of hearts is wordier.

Speaker 1

英语里确实有这些表达,有时候我们也会用。

We do have these expressions in English and sometimes we'll use them.

Speaker 1

但像那样五个词的说法,我们通常会找个更简短的方式来说。

But when it's five words like that, we often find a shorter way to say it.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

所以这么说更简单,对吧?

So so this is easier to say, right?

Speaker 0

所以内心深处,她知道她不想为了工作移居国外。

So deep down, she knew she didn't want to move abroad for the job.

Speaker 0

也许表面上,她表现得很投入,甚至还在做计划。

Maybe on the surface, she's engaging, making plans even.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

内心深处,她知道她不想这么做。

Deep down, she knows she doesn't wanna do it.

Speaker 0

明白吗?

Okay?

Speaker 1

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 1

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 1

当我们真正对自己诚实的时候,这些就是表达那种感受的说法。

When we're really honest with ourselves, these are the expressions for that.

Speaker 1

或者,内心深处,我觉得他很失望,尽管他说他没事。

Or deep down, I think he was disappointed even though he said he was fine.

Speaker 1

我们说的是,表面上的情绪和我们说的话是一回事,而我们内心深处的感受是另一回事。

We're saying there's the surface level emotions and what we're saying and there's what we're feeling deep down.

Speaker 1

我意识到我们也会把“在我内心深处”缩短。

And I'm realizing we also shorten in my heart of hearts.

Speaker 1

我们也会只说“在我心里”,在我心里,我得承认,意思差不多。

We'll also just say in my heart, In my heart, I have to admit this Similar meaning.

Speaker 1

但我觉得,是的,当我们想表达得更感性一点的时候,就会用完整的那个短语。

But I think, yeah, when we want to even get a little more sentimental, then we'll use that whole phrase.

Speaker 0

对。

Right.

Speaker 0

对。

Right.

Speaker 0

而且可能更多是在你向别人坦白某件事的时候。

And maybe it's more of an occasion where you're revealing something to someone.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

对。

Right.

Speaker 0

那时候你可能会把整个短语搬出来。

That's where you might roll out the whole phrase.

Speaker 0

那“如果我对自已诚实”这个短语呢?

What about the phrase if I'm being honest with myself?

Speaker 0

这个不错。

That's a good

Speaker 1

这个确实不错。

This one is a good one.

Speaker 1

它通常用来承认自己真实的感受,或者某个现实,尤其是那些我们过去否认过或者不太愿意面对的事情。

It's used when we're admitting any true personal feelings or maybe a reality, especially if it's something that we have denied in the past or we're uncomfortable with.

Speaker 1

那我们就是在说,好吧,我得承认这一点。

Then we're sort of saying like, alright, I have to admit this.

Speaker 1

如果我说实话,或者如果我对自己的话,这是真的。

If I'm being honest or if I'm being honest with myself, this is true.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

有时候我们只说“如果我说实话”,就像你说的,会缩短。

Sometimes we just say if I'm being honest, as you said, you shorten it.

Speaker 0

把“对自己”去掉。

You take off myself with myself.

Speaker 0

所以如果我对自己的话,我不是一个很有耐心的人。

So if I'm being honest with myself, I'm not a very patient person.

Speaker 0

好。

Okay.

Speaker 1

所以我们是在说实话。

So we're being honest.

Speaker 1

说实话,我可能应该和他分手。

If I'm being honest, I should probably break up with him.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

我们就像是在问自己,我能不能对自己诚实?

We're like, am I going be honest with myself?

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

我得面对这个残酷的事实。

I got to face the hard truth.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

我是说,有些人可以在一段关系里拖好几年,却从不承认这些事。

I mean, people carry on relationships for years without admitting these things to themselves.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

所以我们现在能学到这些说法是件好事。

So it's good that we're getting this vocabulary.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 1

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 1

我们得对自己诚实。

We gotta be honest with ourselves.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

好。

Alright.

Speaker 1

最后一点,当我真正认真思考的时候。

Lastly is when I really think about it.

Speaker 1

所以再说一次,这体现了深刻的反思,能让我们对自己更诚实,或者对某些事情得出更现实的结论。

So again, this shows deep reflection that leads to being more honest with ourselves or maybe more realistic conclusions about something.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

比如我仔细想想,我当时还没准备好承担那个责任。

Like when I really think about it, I wasn't ready for that responsibility.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

好。

Okay.

Speaker 1

所以你可能答应了某件事。

So maybe you agreed to something.

Speaker 1

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 1

我们答应了某种责任。

We've agreed to some kind of responsibility.

Speaker 1

结果不太顺利。

Didn't go well.

Speaker 1

而且,当我仔细想想的时候,我确实还没准备好。

And like, when I really think about it, I wasn't ready.

Speaker 1

当初就不该接下这个。

Shouldn't have taken it off.

Speaker 1

不该答应的。

Have said yes.

Speaker 1

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 0

对。

Yes.

Speaker 0

或者,当我仔细想想的时候,我更喜欢小聚会而不是大派对。

Or when I really think about it, I prefer small gatherings over big parties.

Speaker 0

所以也许你才是那个真正举办大型派对的人,但你从来不喜欢它们。

So maybe you're the one who actually hosts the big parties, but you never enjoy them.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

但你一直在这么做,然后你可能会向好朋友承认这一点。

But you just keep doing it, and then you might admit this to a good friend.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 1

比如,如果我对自己的内心诚实的话,我其实不想再去参加大型派对了。

Like, if I'm being honest with myself, I don't wanna go to big parties anymore.

Speaker 1

那没关系。

That's okay.

Speaker 0

或者举办它们。

Or host them.

Speaker 0

对。

Right.

Speaker 0

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 0

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 0

好的。

Alright.

Speaker 0

真的很棒。

Really good stuff.

Speaker 0

你有没有说过英语后感到精疲力尽?

Have you ever felt exhausted after speaking English?

Speaker 0

不是因为对话很难,而是因为你的大脑在加班加点地翻译、检查语法、找词汇,但真正的流利其实感觉更轻松。

Not because the conversation was difficult, but because your brain was working overtime to translate, checking grammar, searching for vocabulary, but true fluency actually feels lighter.

Speaker 0

你花在思考英语上的时间更少,更多的时间用来与人交流。

You spend less time thinking about English and more time connecting with people.

Speaker 0

好的,Aubrey。

Okay, Aubrey.

Speaker 0

是时候说点实话了。

Time to get honest.

Speaker 0

我们开始吧。

Here we go.

Speaker 0

现在来做个角色扮演。

Time for a role play.

Speaker 0

准备好了吗?

You ready?

Speaker 1

来吧。

Let's do it.

Speaker 1

我们俩是朋友,在聊前一天晚上参加的一个派对。

You and I are friends talking about a party that we attended the night before.

Speaker 1

我先开始吧。

I'll start us out.

Speaker 1

好的。

Yes.

Speaker 1

昨晚那个派对还行,但我有点觉得格格不入。

That party last night was okay, but I felt a bit out of place.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

我也是。

Same.

Speaker 0

我一直告诉自己我玩得很开心,但内心深处我知道其实并没有。

I kept telling myself I was having fun, but deep down, I knew I really wasn't.

Speaker 1

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 1

我发现自己就是不喜欢人多的地方。

I'm realizing I just don't like big crowds.

Speaker 1

我一直觉得自己是个外向的人,但说实话,我其实并不是。

I always thought of myself as an extrovert, but if I'm being honest with myself, I'm really not.

Speaker 0

我懂你的意思。

I hear you.

Speaker 0

对我来说,这真的要看情况。

It really depends for me.

Speaker 0

有时候我在大派对上玩得很开心,有时候却觉得特别累。

Sometimes I have a great time at big parties and sometimes it's just exhausting.

Speaker 1

我也是。

Same.

Speaker 1

说实话,我心里其实更愿意跟几个好朋友聚聚。

In my heart of hearts, I have to admit, I'd rather just catch up with a few close friends.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

这其实挺符合我们很多人的真实感受,我们都想表现得合群一些。

This is so I feel like realistic for a lot of us where we wanna be gregarious.

Speaker 1

我们想成为社交达人,成为派对上最有趣的那个人,但之后却累得不行。

We wanna be the social one, the one that's so fun at parties, but then we're exhausted.

Speaker 1

然后我们就会想,你知道吗?

And we're like, you know what?

Speaker 1

内心深处,我知道自己其实是个内向的人。

In my heart of hearts, I know I'm an introvert.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

我在想,生活中还有哪些事情是人们会去参与,但可能并不真正喜欢的呢?

I'm trying to think of what are the other things in life that people kind of go to and participate in, but maybe they don't actually enjoy them.

Speaker 0

我不知道。

I don't know.

Speaker 1

比如游乐园。

Like Amusement parks.

Speaker 1

我认识很多人,即使讨厌坐过山车,也会去坐,因为他们想显得有趣。

I know a lot of people that will go on a roller coaster even though they hate it because they wanna be fun.

Speaker 1

他们不想成为那个扫兴的人。

They don't wanna be the one that's like a party pooper.

Speaker 0

这个例子不错。

That's a good one.

Speaker 0

也许博物馆对某些人来说就是这样,他们去是因为觉得去博物馆显得有品位,但其实他们可能根本不想待在那儿,对吧?

Maybe maybe museums for some people like they go because it feels sophisticated to go, but maybe they just don't want to be there, right?

Speaker 1

或者音乐会。

Or concerts.

Speaker 1

你和我都不怕承认我们不太喜欢音乐会,但很多人去是因为觉得‘哇,这太酷了’,而且确实挺酷的。

Both you and I aren't afraid to, know, talk about how little we like concerts, but a lot of people go because it's like oh it's so cool and it's cool.

Speaker 1

光想想就觉得特别棒。

Idea of it seems so amazing.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

但到了现场他们却很难受,就像我一样。

And then they're miserable when they're there like me.

Speaker 1

就算戴着耳塞或耳机,我的耳朵还是特别疼,怎么都不行。

I like even with earbuds earplugs it still really hurts my ears no matter what.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

我唯一喜欢的音乐会就是那种免费的,可以坐在草地上的。

The only kind of concert that I like is a free concert where I can sit down in the grass.

Speaker 0

上周末我们去了一场,是个来自澳大利亚的新歌手。

Last weekend we went to one that was just some new singer from Australia.

Speaker 0

就是那种夏天在草地上办的音乐会。

Just a summer concert in the grass.

Speaker 0

很多家庭,还有人在喝啤酒、吃餐车的东西。

Lots of families and people like beers, food trucks.

Speaker 0

那种音乐会我才喜欢。

That's the concert I like.

Speaker 1

没错。

Right.

Speaker 1

那不一样。

That's different.

Speaker 1

那我就可以站在后面,离音箱远一点,这样就不会震得耳朵疼了。

Then I can be in the back away from the speakers so they're not deafening me.

Speaker 1

这种音乐会我喜欢,Lindsay。

I'm in for that concert, Lindsay.

Speaker 0

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 0

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 0

不错。

Good stuff.

Speaker 0

好。

Alright.

Speaker 0

我们来进行角色扮演吧,因为今天的节目里,听众们会学到四五个全新的短语,说实话。

Let's go through our role play because our listeners just are gaining in today's episode four or five brand new phrases to be honest.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 1

我们用的第一个表达是,你说的,我一直告诉自己我玩得很开心,但内心深处,我知道其实并不是这样。

The first one we used, you said, I kept telling myself I was having fun, but deep down, I knew I really wasn't.

Speaker 1

我们很多人都这样。

So many of us do this.

Speaker 1

我们想保持积极。

We wanna be positive.

Speaker 1

我们想装出一副开心的样子。

We wanna put on a good face.

Speaker 1

所以我们告诉自己我们玩得很开心。

So we're telling ourselves we're having fun.

Speaker 1

但内心深处,我们知道并不是。

But deep down, we know we're not.

Speaker 1

我们意识到,这不是我想待的地方。

We're realizing like this is not where I want to be.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

确实。

For sure.

Speaker 0

或者就算只是招待客人,对吧?

Or even just hosting in general, right?

Speaker 0

比如有些人,他们想招待客人,但真到自己家里办活动的时候,其实很讨厌,对吧?

Like some people, they they want to host, but then they actually hate it when they're hosting events at their house, right?

Speaker 0

请人来家里,因为得打扫一整天。

Having people over because you have to clean all day.

Speaker 1

这工作量

It's a lot

Speaker 0

很大。

of work.

Speaker 0

这确实很费劲。

It's a lot of work.

Speaker 0

我其实挺喜欢招待客人的,但对很多人来说,这可能是个大工程,对吧?

I actually like hosting but a lot of people it can be a ton of work, right?

Speaker 1

我也一样。

I'm the same.

Speaker 1

我喜欢招待客人,但说实话,我也不怪那些心里觉得不值得的人。

I love hosting but it's true that I don't blame anyone who's like deep down.

Speaker 1

不值得。

It's not worth it.

Speaker 0

对,不值得。

It's not worth it exactly.

Speaker 0

去别人家吧。

Go to someone else's house.

Speaker 0

对,对吧?

Yeah, right?

Speaker 0

然后我们说,我一直觉得自己是个外向的人,但如果对自己诚实的话,其实我不是。

And then we said I always thought of myself as an extrovert, but if I'm being honest with myself, I'm not So.

Speaker 1

对,这种情况确实会发生,对吧?

Yeah, and this can happen, right?

Speaker 1

当我们不得不做那些性格测试的时候,常常会发现,我们对自己的看法和测试结果很不一样。

When we have to, often we'll take those personality tests and maybe like this idea we have of ourselves, it gives us something very different.

Speaker 1

我们就会想,好吧,如果对自己诚实的话,我得承认这些结果都是准确的。

We're like, alright, if I'm being honest with myself, I have to admit this is all accurate.

Speaker 0

对,确实如此。

Yeah, for sure.

Speaker 0

确实。

For sure.

Speaker 0

然后最后一个,我也是。

And then last one, same.

Speaker 0

说实话,我内心深处不得不承认,我宁愿只和几个亲密的朋友聚聚。

In my heart of hearts, I'd I have to admit, I'd rather just catch up with a few close friends.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

这也是随着我们年纪增长,慢慢更了解自己的过程。

This is just kinda getting to know ourselves too as we get older.

Speaker 0

我觉得可能有一种自由感会出现。

I think there's a certain freedom probably that happens.

Speaker 0

感觉很多人到了四十多岁,就不再装了。

Feel like it happens to people in their forties where they just stop pretending.

Speaker 0

你懂吗?

You know?

Speaker 0

确实。

Absolutely.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

他们就是很坦诚,按自己想要的方式去生活。

And they're just very honest and they just kind of live life the the way they wanna live.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

你不再那么在意别人怎么想了。

You don't care as much what people think anymore.

Speaker 1

而且,如果,嗯,

And if yeah.

Speaker 1

如果你想让自己舒服一点。

If you're you wanna be comfortable.

Speaker 1

你想过得开心,而这可能并不总是周围人期望的样子,但在我们内心深处。

And you want to be having fun and that might not always be what everyone around would expect it to be and in our heart of hearts.

Speaker 1

所以我们知道,有时候你得稍微自私一点。

So we know that we need to, know, sometimes you have to be a little bit selfish.

Speaker 0

你说得对。

You got it.

Speaker 0

你说得对。

You got it.

Speaker 0

最后总结一下,我觉得,连接是一项重要的技能,尤其是当我们年纪渐长,越来越自在的时候。

And for a final takeaway, I mean, is a major connection skill, especially as we kind of, we get a little bit older, we get more comfortable in our own skin.

Speaker 0

在某种程度上,我认为这是幸福的关键。

It is the key to happiness in a way, I think.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 1

完全同意。

Absolutely.

Speaker 1

我同意。

I agree.

Speaker 1

我们这些比较爱牺牲自己、想让所有人都开心、总想当和事佬的人,真的需要明白,你不可能让每个人都满意。

Do need to, those of us who are more martyrs and are trying to make everyone else happy and be a peacemaker, you can't please everyone.

Speaker 1

到头来只会让自己很沮丧。

You're just going to end up frustrated.

Speaker 1

而且年纪越大,我们越会发现,既然没法让所有人都满意,那至少得确保自己过得开心。

And the older we get, we realize like if we can't please anyone or everyone, may as well make sure that we're enjoying ourselves at least Exactly.

Speaker 0

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 0

这确实是个很有意思的话题。

So really interesting topic actually.

Speaker 0

我们改天再从另一个角度聊聊这个话题。
