Speaker 1

Michelle,

Michelle, I have a question for you real quick.

Speaker 0

Oh, what is it?

Speaker 1

Yeah.

Speaker 1

How do you do when you make a mistake?

Speaker 1

How do you think of that?

Speaker 1

Or are you hard on yourself, Would you say?

Speaker 0

I have to say that I I I can be a little bit hard on myself with mistakes, but I know that I shouldn't be.

Speaker 0

But it it it is it's tricky to get in that mindset of not, you know, not feeling upset when you make a mistake.

Speaker 0

What about you?

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

Same here.

Speaker 1

I've historically been kinda hard on myself.

Speaker 1

That's why our idea of connection not perfection is so it resonates with me so much.

Speaker 1

Right?

Speaker 1

It's it's almost like we are free to focus on the right thing, which is connecting.

Speaker 1

But, yeah, I would say I am yeah.

Speaker 1

I do notice my mistakes.

Speaker 1

I'm a little hard on myself.

Speaker 1

I'm probably my worst critic.

Speaker 0

是的。

Mhmm.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

That's I always think of that quote.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

So today, guys, we have a quote for you from Einstein.

Speaker 1

Of course, Einstein had a lot of famous quotes.

Speaker 1

Sometimes I wonder if this is really Einstein's quote or someone else.

Speaker 1

But we that's how we found it online, and this is going to inspire you to think differently about your mistakes.

Speaker 1

Michelle, do you have the quote for us?

Speaker 0

有的。

I do.

Speaker 0

The quote is anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.

Speaker 1

哦。

Oh.

Speaker 1

And it's just so true.

Speaker 1

Right?

Speaker 1

What do you think when you hear that quote?

Speaker 0

It's kinda comforting.

Speaker 0

I mean, in a weird way because it it reminds me, you know, and it sounds like maybe for you too, if you tend to get, like, upset about mistakes, it just it just one of those things that is like, no.

Speaker 0

No.

Speaker 0

No.

Speaker 0

Like, this is mistakes are supposed to happen.

Speaker 0

If you're not making mistakes, it means that you're not learning, you're not growing.

Speaker 0

I just was watching something last night and they were talking about that idea and I do I do need to remind myself of this more, I think.

Speaker 0

But I mean, for our listeners, this is, I think, very important because practicing your English can be nerve racking and scary but the mistakes are okay and just look at it as a part of the process.

Speaker 1

Totally.

Speaker 1

And this really depends on who you surround yourself with.

Speaker 1

Like, know in the entrepreneurial world, like the startup world, venture funded startup world, the mistakes that people make, they're so proud of their mistakes.

Speaker 1

They love to say they start their self intros with, I founded my first company five years ago, and I failed beautifully, or I failed, you know, hugely.

Speaker 1

They actually brag about their failures.

Speaker 1

And actually, what they say is venture capitalists prefer to invest in someone who's had a big failure.

Speaker 1

Actually live, that means that they have learned.

Speaker 1

It's actually a red flag if all of your companies have been successful, or it's your second venture, and your previous one was success.

Speaker 1

It means you probably didn't learn as much.

Speaker 1

Right?

Speaker 1

没错。

So mhmm.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

So mistakes are so important, but we know a lot of you guys are stuck in perfectionism.

Speaker 1

Right, Michelle?

Speaker 0

对。

Mhmm.

Speaker 0

对。

Mhmm.

Speaker 0

明白。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 0

This perfectionist outlook and, like, sometimes it can just lead you to stay still.

Speaker 0

Right?

Speaker 0

And we don't wanna stay still.

Speaker 0

We wanna always move forward.

Speaker 0

When you make a mistake and you're you're you're moving forward, you might it might knock you back one little tiny bit.

Speaker 0

But if you don't even try, then you're just staying in the same place.

Speaker 0

所以

So

Speaker 1

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 1

Exactly.

Speaker 0

That's why it's so important, I think.

Speaker 2

Quick reminder, the doors to our b two English fluency course are closing tonight.

Speaker 2

This is your last chance to save $50 on basic or a $100 on personal coach.

Speaker 2

If you are tired of translating in your head, if you're tired of hesitating before speaking, if you're tired of feeling like your English doesn't reflect your true intelligence, now is the time to change that.

Speaker 2

Inside the course, you'll get a proven system, AI speaking practice, live conversation opportunities, and the support you need to finally move beyond the b two plateau.

Speaker 2

But in just a few hours, this offer disappears.

Speaker 2

现在就去 allenglish.com/btwo。

Go now to allenglish.com/btwo.

Speaker 2

网址是 allearsenglish.com/letterbnumbertwo。

That's allearsenglish.com/letterbnumbertwo.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

So I I think it's really about developing a new habit, a new way of thinking about mistakes.

Speaker 1

It's really about what you do immediately after you realize you've made a mistake.

Speaker 1

The only thing that matters.

Speaker 1

It's how do you frame this?

Speaker 1

We all see the world differently, so why not see it in a way of, oh, okay.

Speaker 1

I made a mistake.

Speaker 1

Let's let's let's correct it now and move on.

Speaker 1

Or let's not worry about it because the person in front of me is still making eye contact and I still have the connection.

Speaker 1

对。

Right.

Speaker 1

没错。

Right.

Speaker 0

Right?

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

Exactly.

Speaker 0

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 0

So don't worry about your mistakes.

Speaker 0

Just kind of I don't know.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

Try and look at it as those entrepreneurs that Lindsay was talking about.

Speaker 0

Try and be like, yeah.

Speaker 0

This is all part of my growing experience, and this is a this is a good thing.

Speaker 0

The mistakes mean that I'm learning.

Speaker 1

I learn from the mistakes.

Speaker 1

So good.

Speaker 1

So that's the takeaway for today, and that's what we wanna leave you guys with.

Speaker 1

Just be okay with your mistakes.

Speaker 1

Change what you think about right after you make that mistake, and you're gonna see an amazing amount of improvement, and you're gonna be able to connect with native speakers.

Speaker 1

So good.
