Speaker 1

你最近怎么样?

How are you?

Speaker 0

嗨,米歇尔。

Hey there, Michelle.

Speaker 0

你那边最近有什么新鲜事?

What's going on in your world?

Speaker 1

哦,没什么特别的。

Oh, not too much.

Speaker 1

真的没什么特别的。

Not too much.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

我还在想交通出行这方面。

I'm thinking I'm still about transportation.

Speaker 1

昨天我们聊了挺有意思的话题,关于美国的交通,还有城市里正在发生的变化。

Yesterday, we had a really interesting conversation about transportation in The US and how things are changing in cities.

Speaker 1

所以今天咱们继续聊这个话题,顺便学点实用词汇。

And so guys, we are going to continue talking about the topic, give you a little bit of vocab today.

Speaker 1

不过在开始之前,别忘了关注《All Ears English》这个播客,别错过任何一期内容。

We want to remind you though, before we get started to follow the All Ears English podcast so you don't miss any of our episodes.

Speaker 0

Speaker 0

今天的话题,像米歇尔说的,还是交通,不过我们会给你们一些关键词汇,让你们能跟母语者聊起这个话题。

And today's topic, again, like Michelle said, we're talking again about transportation, but we're gonna give you some key vocabulary terms to actually have a conversation with a native speaker about this topic.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

因为现在我们想把这个话题再深入一点。

Because now we wanna extend it into that idea.

Speaker 1

对。

Right.

Speaker 1

对。

Right.

Speaker 1

对。

Right.

Speaker 1

没错,林赛。

Exactly, Lindsay.

Speaker 1

那我们就开始吧。

So, yeah, let's get to it.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

昨天或者上一期,第18期,你们要是还没听的话可以回去听听,我们当时聊了越来越多城市现在可以租电动滑板车和自行车代步。

So yesterday or in the last episode, episode 18, go back and listen if you haven't, but in episode 18, we did talk about how in more cities, we can now rent scooters, bikes to get around the city.

Speaker 0

只要扫个码,付个钱,到地方了随便停就行。

We just have to scan the code, you know, pay for it, and then drop it off when we arrive at our destination.

Speaker 0

我特别喜欢这个。

I love this.

Speaker 0

Michelle,我最近一直在用滑板车。

And, Michelle, I've been using scooters.

Speaker 0

我之前去纳什维尔,正好赶上朋友过生日,我们就骑着滑板车把整个城市逛了个遍。

I was in Nashville a while ago, just, you know, celebrating a birthday, birthday, and we scooted all over the city of Nashville.

Speaker 0

我刚顺口扔了个动词给各位听众。

So I just I just dropped a verb, a little verb for our listeners.

Speaker 0

我刚说的那个动词是什么?

What's the verb I just dropped?

Speaker 1

你说的是‘scoot’。

You said to scoot.

Speaker 1

我们当时就骑着滑板车到处跑。

We scooted.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

就是用滑板车的意思。

That's to use a scooter guy.

Speaker 1

人家知道你一只脚踩着车,另一只脚在蹬地往前走。

They know you're you're on with the one foot and you're moving with the other foot.

Speaker 1

踩上去,然后就这么往前滑。

Hang it on and yeah.

Speaker 1

这就是滑板车。

That's a scooter.

Speaker 1

所以‘scoot’就是用滑板车的意思。

So to scoot is to use the scooter.

Speaker 0

不是的。

No.

Speaker 0

不过,米歇尔,这些是更高阶的滑板车。

But actually, Michelle, these are these are next level scooters.

Speaker 0

如果你没见过,它们是带电机的,我们根本不用发力。

If you haven't seen them, they're motor So we're not using we're not using any muscles.

Speaker 0

我们不用脚蹬地。

We're not kicking off with our

Speaker 1

脚?哦,就像我孩子那样,天哪。

foot Oh like a my kid gosh.

Speaker 1

不是的。

No.

Speaker 1

我从来没用过那种车。

Well, I haven't used any of those.

Speaker 1

哦,是这样。

Oh, yeah.

Speaker 0

挺好玩的。

They are fun.

Speaker 0

它们最快能到每小时14英里,而且是智能控制的,能知道你在哪里。

They go up to about 14 miles an hour, and they're computerized, so it knows where you are.

Speaker 0

如果地图上标了不能走的人行道,它就会发出提示音。我们以前在纳什维尔试着骑过一座桥,结果 scooter 一直滴滴响个不停。

So if there's some sidewalk that's not allowed on the map, it actually will ding or like, we tried taking them over a bridge in Nashville, and our scooters were constantly, like, ringing a bell.

Speaker 0

那场面可真尴尬。

And it was very embarrassing.

Speaker 1

因为路人看我们的眼神,好像

Because people looked at us like

Speaker 0

我们在偷 scooter 一样。

we were stealing the scooters.

Speaker 0

我们没偷,只是不该骑到那座桥上去。

We weren't, but we weren't supposed to take them over that particular bridge.

Speaker 0

所以它们特别像早期的网页时代,米歇尔。

So they're very web one web two point o, Michelle.

Speaker 1

天哪。

Oh, oh my gosh.

Speaker 1

明白了。

Okay.

Speaker 1

太棒了。

Awesome.

Speaker 1

那随便租一辆滑板车很容易吗?

So so is it easy to just kinda grab a scooter?

Speaker 1

租滑板车或者租自行车,具体是指什么?

And what does that mean, to grab a scooter or grab a bike?

Speaker 1

问得好。

Good question.

Speaker 0

这正是我们下一个要讲的词汇,朋友们。

And that's our next vocab term, guys.

Speaker 0

我希望你们把这些都记下来。

I hope you're writing these down.

Speaker 0

一定要记清楚,这样和母语者对话时才能准备好。

Make sure you write them down to get ready for this conversation with a native.

Speaker 0

不过确实如此。

But, yeah, it really is.

Speaker 0

我可以打开应用,看到哦,这个路口就有辆电动滑板车。

So I can open my app and I can see, oh, okay, here's a scooter at this intersection.

Speaker 0

我还能提前预订。

I can reserve it in advance.

Speaker 0

它会帮我留上大概十到十五分钟,但不会留一两天。

So it'll wait for me up to about ten to fifteen minutes, not a day or two.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

然后我就过去取车。

And then I go and I check out.

Speaker 0

我直接扫一下就行。

I just scan it.

Speaker 0

用完后一还车,系统就会根据使用时间自动计算费用,然后从我的Apple Pay扣款。

I check out, and then it records how much you owe by the time, and then it just it bills your Apple Pay.

Speaker 1

对。

Mhmm.

Speaker 1

哦,原来如此。

Oh, okay.

Speaker 1

明白了。

Okay.

Speaker 1

这确实挺方便的。

Well, that's really convenient.

Speaker 1

所以租一辆电动滑板车或者自行车,意思就是拿过来用,就是这么简单。

So grab a scooter, grab a bike, it means to take it, to get Exactly.

Speaker 0

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 0

我喜欢这个。

I love that.

Speaker 0

所以,各位,到目前为止,你们今天要学的单词是‘scoot’,对吧?

So, guys, so so far, your vocabulary words for today are to scoot, right?

Speaker 0

这是一个动词。

That's a verb.

Speaker 0

所以我们可以说‘我们scooted’,或者‘我们会scoot过去’,对吧?

So we go ahead and we say we scooted or we'll scoot there, right?

Speaker 0

或者租一辆滑板车,或者租一辆自行车。

And grab a scooter or grab a bike.

Speaker 0

我们说的是共享单车,对吧?不是你自己带车,而是通过这个App租一辆。

And we're talking about the bike shares, right, where it's not where you're going, you're getting one from this app.

Speaker 0

米歇尔,接下来听众们该学哪个词呢?

Now, Michelle, what's the next term that our listeners need to know?

Speaker 1

好的。

Alright.

Speaker 1

这个我特别喜欢。

This one I love.

Speaker 1

这就像骑自行车一样。

It's it's like riding a bike.

Speaker 0

好的。

Alright.

Speaker 0

那我们现在聊的是什么?

What are we talking about here?

Speaker 1

有意思的是,我们其实不是在说真的骑自行车。

Well, it's funny because we're not necessarily talking about riding the bike.

Speaker 1

骑自行车的意思是,你不会忘记怎么骑,因为它已经成了肌肉记忆。

So with the bike, the idea is that you don't forget how to ride a bike because it's always in your muscle memory.

Speaker 1

就是那种你根本忘不掉的事情。

It's like one of those things you just you can't really forget it.

Speaker 1

不过在我这儿,情况不太一样。

Although it's not true in my situation.

Speaker 0

你都忘记怎么骑自行车了。

You forgot how to ride a bike.

Speaker 1

我不是忘了,只是……

I mean, didn't forget it.

Speaker 1

我本来就没骑得多好。

I wasn't ever a great bike rider that to begin with.

Speaker 1

咱们先说这个。

Let's start with that.

Speaker 1

后来我试着再骑,一上车就摔了,摔得满身是血,真是吓人。

But like, when I did try again, I fell off and it was a little bit of a bloody mess and that's why Gosh.

Speaker 1

等等。

Wait.

Speaker 1

等等。

Wait.

Speaker 1

等等。

Wait.

Speaker 1

等等。

Wait.

Speaker 1

别动。

Block on it.

Speaker 0

米歇尔,跟我们说说这事吧。

Tell us the story, Michelle.

Speaker 0

这事儿是什么时候发生的?

When did this happen?

Speaker 1

好。

Okay.

Speaker 1

大概是在十三四年前吧。

So it probably happened like thirteen or fourteen years ago.

Speaker 0

嗯。

Okay.

Speaker 0

行。

Good.

Speaker 1

那时候我出去旅行,是一群人一起,他们安排了骑自行车或者购物两种选择。我想,好吧,那就试试骑车吧。大家都说自己肯定骑不好。

And we were I was on a trip and it was like a group of us and they wanted to do biking and you could either go biking or you could go shopping and it was like organized trip and I was like, oh, well, I'll try biking and everyone talked about how terrible they were gonna be at biking.

Speaker 1

他们好久没这么说过话了,我就说:我肯定骑得特别烂。

Oh, they hadn't written in in such a long time and I said, no, I'm gonna be terrible.

Speaker 1

他们说:我肯定骑得特别烂。

They said, no, I'm gonna be terrible.

Speaker 1

我说:我肯定骑得特别烂。

I said, I'm gonna be terrible.

Speaker 1

结果他们一上车就开始骑,我一上去就直接摔了。

And they all got on and they started and I fell off right away.

Speaker 1

哎呀。

Oh.

Speaker 1

还没到起点呢,就摔了。

Before the starting line.

Speaker 1

裤子都摔破了,满身是血,最后只能跟别人一起坐车走。

And, yeah, my pants are all bloody and I had to, like, ride in the in a van with someone.

Speaker 0

哦,天哪,米歇尔。

Oh, no, Michelle.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

什么类型的自行车

What kind of bike

Speaker 0

啊?

was it?

Speaker 0

是那种公路车还是山地车?

Was it like a street bike or a mountain bike?

Speaker 0

是那种赛车,就是竞速用的那种。

It was a rate it was a Racing bike.

Speaker 1

对,就是那种车。

Kind of bike.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 0

一辆普通的自行车。

A regular bike.

Speaker 1

这让我心里有点过不去这个坎。

And so that kinda, like, gave me a mental block on it.

Speaker 1

不过呢,我还会再试一次。

But, you know, I will try again.

Speaker 1

但一般来说,你说骑自行车,大家会觉得这事儿挺简单的。

But so but generally, when you say it's like riding a bike, it's supposed to be like, oh, it's something that's easy.

Speaker 1

那种技能会自然而然地回来。

It kinda comes back to you.

Speaker 1

你一上手就懂了。

You just get it.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

完全没错。

Completely.

Speaker 0

所以,朋友们,这个说法显然不限于聊自行车的时候。

So, guys, this can be used obviously outside of a conversation about bikes.

Speaker 0

你可以用在任何事情上。

You can use this with anything.

Speaker 0

比如,有人可能一辈子都在玩纸牌游戏。

If you you know, maybe someone has played a card game their whole lives.

Speaker 0

不过,这通常讲的是肌肉记忆。

Usually, this is about muscle memory, though.

Speaker 0

对吧,米歇尔?

Right, Michelle?

Speaker 0

这说的是你小时候学会的某种技能,一辈子都不会忘。

This is about some kind of action that you will never forget because you learned it young.

Speaker 0

比如滑雪。

Like skiing.

Speaker 1

对。

Right.

Speaker 1

没错。

Right.

Speaker 1

确实。

Right.

Speaker 1

正是如此。

Exactly.

Speaker 1

这点说得对。

That's a good point.

Speaker 1

通常都是小时候学会的。

Usually, learn it young.

Speaker 1

所以呢,你会突然想起来的。

So it's like, oh, it'll come back to you.

Speaker 1

就算现在记不太清了,但只要你一重新开始,那些本事就会自动回来,对吧。

Even if you don't really remember it right now, like, it's gonna come back to you, right, when you'd start to try again.

Speaker 0

我觉得我根本不可能忘记怎么打网球。

Like, I don't think I could forget how to hit a tennis ball.

Speaker 0

我这一辈子打过太多次网球了。

I have hit the tennis ball so many times in my life.

Speaker 0

小时候和青少年时期,我总是一整个下午对着后墙不停地打,砰砰砰,一打就是一整天。

When I was a kid, a teenager, I would spend hours, summer afternoons against the backboard, just boom, boom, hitting the ball all day.

Speaker 0

我特别喜欢这项运动。

I loved it so much.

Speaker 0

所以我绝对不可能忘记怎么打这个球。

So I could never forget how to hit that ball.

Speaker 1

你看,就是这样。

So there you go.

Speaker 1

就是这样。

There you go.

Speaker 1

就算你好几年都没碰过球,刚开始可能手感有点生疏,但很快肌肉就会找回感觉,你马上就又能打回来了。

Like, even if you even if you didn't hit a ball for, like, years and years, like, yeah, maybe for the first minute, it would feel a little bit funny, but then you would get right back into it, like, once your your muscles would kinda take over.

Speaker 0

还有件特别酷的事。

And there's something really cool.

Speaker 0

我觉得作为人类,我们都渴望精通一件事。

I think as humans, we love mastery.

Speaker 0

就是能把自己的事情做得很好,这种感觉特别棒。

Like, we love being able to do something well.

Speaker 0

这是人之常情,也是我们在这个世界上感到自信的一部分。

It's part of being human and and feeling good about ourselves in the world.

Speaker 0

所以一定要找到属于你的那种事,就像骑自行车一样。

So make sure you find that thing that to you guys is like riding a bike.

Speaker 0

也许我们可以在另一期聊聊,怎么找到那种让你觉得像骑自行车一样的活动。

Maybe we can talk about that in another episode, how to find that thing, that activity, that physical activity that we know is like riding a bike to us.

Speaker 0

对吧,米歇尔?

Right, Michelle?

Speaker 1

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 1

天哪。

Oh my gosh.

Speaker 1

太棒了。

Cool.

Speaker 1

今天聊得真开心,各位。

This was a lot of fun, guys.

Speaker 1

今天你们学到了不少实用词汇,还有我们的一些故事。

Today, you've got some really great vocab and, yeah, some stories from us.

Speaker 0

没错。

Absolutely.

Speaker 0

今天真是太精彩了,各位。

This has been fantastic, guys.

Speaker 0

下次和母语者聊骑行,或者聊生活、爱好时,记得用上这些表达。

Use these terms when you have a conversation about biking or just about life and activities with a native speaker.

Speaker 0

Michelle,谢谢你今天抽空来聊。
