Speaker 1

嘿,Michelle。

Hey, Michelle.

Speaker 1

你最近怎么样?

How are doing?

Speaker 1

你在纽约那边最近忙啥?

What's going on over there in New York for you?

Speaker 0

我挺好的。

Hey, I'm good.

Speaker 0

我很好。

I'm good.

Speaker 0

没什么特别的。

Not too much.

Speaker 0

就是好好享受这一天。

Just enjoying the day.

Speaker 0

纽约这儿挺棒的。

New York is great.

Speaker 0

你呢?你怎么样?

How are you?

Speaker 1

太棒了。

Awesome.

Speaker 1

今天能和你聊天我特别兴奋,因为我们聊的这件事对我们的听众来说太重要了。

I'm so excited to talk with you today because we're talking about such an important thing for our listeners.

Speaker 1

我们可以把教科书全扔了。

It's how we can throw our textbooks away.

Speaker 0

是吗?

Alright?

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

抛开传统的课堂模式,给我们的听众一种全新的学习方式。

Throw the classroom experience away and learn in a whole new way for our listeners.

Speaker 0

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 0

我喜欢这个想法。

I love it.

Speaker 0

我特别喜欢探索新的学习方式。

I love finding new ways to learn.

Speaker 0

所以Lindsay,我们想告诉听众什么呢?

So Lindsay, what what do we wanna tell our listeners?

Speaker 0

我们到底要聚焦在哪种学习方式上?

What way to learn are we focusing on?

Speaker 1

好的。

Alright.

Speaker 1

我们希望你能关注自己的兴趣。

Well, we want you to focus on your interests.

Speaker 1

我们知道你们平时总是背对话、重复练习、学语法,但这些东西太枯燥了,这可不是我们在All Ears English的教学方式。

I mean, we know that you guys are used to memorizing dialogues, and you're used to repeating things and learning grammar, but that stuff is boring, and that's not how we learn here at All Ears English.

Speaker 1

对吧,Michelle?

Right, Michelle?

Speaker 0

不对。

No.

Speaker 0

不对。

No.

Speaker 0

不是这样的。

No.

Speaker 0

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

你要找一种让你感兴趣的方式来学习。

You wanna focus in a way that excites you.

Speaker 1

没错。

Yes.

Speaker 1

如果

I If

Speaker 0

你对某件事没兴趣,就学不好。

you're not interested, you're not gonna learn as well.

Speaker 1

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 1

那咱们给听众举几个清楚的例子,说明这到底是什么意思。

So let's give our listeners some very clear examples of what that means.

Speaker 1

明白吗?

Okay?

Speaker 1

好的。

Alright.

Speaker 1

你知道,我的听众都知道,我在日本东京待了一年半。

You know, so for example, our listeners know that I spent a year and a half in Japan, in Tokyo.

Speaker 1

明白吗?

Alright?

Speaker 1

那时候我试过,但说实话,那方法对我没用,不过要是我坚持下去,可能就有效了。

And when I was there, this did I you know, it didn't really work for me, but it would have worked if I stuck with it.

Speaker 1

我其实报了个空手道班,日语里也叫‘空手道’。

I actually joined a karate in in Japanese, they say karate.

Speaker 1

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 1

我本来报名了一家空手道馆,而且去的课全是用日语授课的。

I would have I joined a karate school, and I actually went to the lessons that were given in Japanese.

Speaker 1

所以我在日本学空手道的时候,全程都是用日语学的。

So I learned karate in Japan, in Japanese.

Speaker 1

这确实帮我掌握了不少日常用语。

It did help me pick up on some phrases for sure.

Speaker 0

哇哦。

Wow.

Speaker 0

明白了。

Okay.

Speaker 0

这太棒了,林赛。

That is so cool, Lindsay.

Speaker 0

这想法真的很独特。

That is, like, a really creative idea.

Speaker 0

我猜那一定特别有趣。

I bet that was a lot of fun.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

没错。

For sure.

Speaker 1

我的意思是,米歇尔,你有什么兴趣爱好是曾经用其他语言学习过的,或者将来打算用其他语言去学的吗?

I mean, what's an example of an interest of yours, Michelle, that you have tried to learn in another language or you might try to do it in the future?

Speaker 0

如果我现在住在国外,想学点什么,我可能会选择通过音乐来学。

Well, if I were living abroad right now and I wanted to learn something, I might try doing it through music.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

去上音乐课。

Taking a music class.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 0

或者是做饭。

So I could or cooking.

Speaker 0

我出国的时候上过烹饪课。

I have done cooking classes abroad.

Speaker 0

你上过?

You have?

Speaker 1

我知道。

I know.

Speaker 1

你去过哪些地方?

Where where have you gone?

Speaker 1

你学了些什么?

What have you done?

Speaker 1

你想要学哪种

What kind of

Speaker 0

菜系?

food do wanna cook?

Speaker 0

我在东京上过一节烹饪课,还在佛罗伦萨上过一节。

A cooking class in Tokyo, and I did one in Florence Oh.

Speaker 1

在意大利啊。

In Italy.

Speaker 0

这也太棒了。

That is so

Speaker 1

真酷。

cool.

Speaker 1

你在东京学了做啥菜?

What did you learn to cook in Tokyo?

Speaker 1

我很好奇,因为你知道,我特别爱吃日本菜。

I'm curious because you know I love Japanese food.

Speaker 0

我们上的是做寿司的课。

We it was a sushi making class.

Speaker 0

学了怎么卷寿司,还有各种不同类型的寿司。

So we learned, like, you know, how to make the rolls and or different different kinds of sushi.

Speaker 0

在佛罗伦萨呢,我们也是。

And and and in in Florence Florence.

Speaker 0

我们做了意大利面,还做了提拉米苏。

We made pasta, and I think we made tiramisu.

Speaker 1

真的啊。

Oh.

Speaker 1

天哪。

Oh my gosh.

Speaker 1

你这么说我都饿了。

You're making me hungry.

Speaker 0

别说了。

Stop talking.

Speaker 0

那真的特别棒。

It was and so it was so cool.

Speaker 0

我的意思是,虽然我现在没住国外,但每次旅行,我们都会尽量报个烹饪课,毕竟我们太爱美食了。

I mean, so cooking class, that's something maybe I'm not living abroad right now, but when I do travel, we usually like to try and take a cooking class because we love food.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 0

我们厨艺不算好,但旅行时做点别的事挺有意思的。

We're not such great cooks, but it's just a different kind it's just a different thing to do when you travel.

Speaker 0

挺好玩的。

It's a fun thing.

Speaker 1

哦,这太棒了。

Oh, that's so cool.

Speaker 1

对了,今天早些时候我们录小组对话时,刚好聊到过这个。

You know, in the last earlier today when we were recording for our group conversation episodes, we actually talked about this.

Speaker 1

我们聊了做饭的事。

We talked about cooking.

Speaker 1

还有个办法,就算你不在英语国家,也可以选一道你爱吃的菜,把食材翻译成英文,然后用英文来烹饪。

And, you know, the other thing you can do, guys, even if you're not in an English speaking country, you can take in a dish that you love and translate the ingredients into English and then cook in English.

Speaker 1

比如,全程都用英文跟着步骤做。

Like, do the instructions in English, do it all in English.

Speaker 1

所以你可以用英语做一顿晚餐,做你最爱吃的菜。

So you can create an evening in English cooking your favorite food.

Speaker 1

比如说,你可能在做汉堡和薯条。

I mean, maybe you're cooking burgers and fries.

Speaker 1

这可是美式文化呢。

It's American culture.

Speaker 1

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 1

或者英式料理比如鱼和薯条,你也可以全程用英语来做。

Or fish and chips for British culture or something, but you can do it in English.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

没错。

Right.

Speaker 0

对。

Right.

Speaker 0

对。

Right.

Speaker 0

这确实是个挺有趣的做法。

So that's definitely a fun thing.

Speaker 0

所以。

So

Guys, you know, the tip is basically don't, you know, don't just sit with your book.

Speaker 1

不行。

No.

Speaker 1

别那样。

Don't.

Speaker 0

试着想想你现有的爱好,或者你感兴趣的、想尝试的活动,通过它来学习。

Try and think of a hobby that you have, something that or or a hobby you would like to have, something that that you're curious about, and learn through that.

Speaker 0

去做一件事。

Do an activity.

Speaker 1

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 1

在结束之前,我再给你们举一个例子。

And I'll give you guys one more example before we finish up today.

Speaker 1

还是说说我当年在东京的生活,我有个朋友也特别喜欢咖啡。

Again, going back to my life in Tokyo, I had a friend who also loves coffee.

Speaker 1

至于茶,我其实没那么感兴趣。

So I'm not really that into tea.

Speaker 1

我知道茶在亚洲很重要,但其实咖啡在日本也很有地位,我以前根本不知道这一点。

I know tea is a big deal in Asia, but actually coffee is a big deal in Japan too, and I didn't know that before I went there.

Speaker 1

所以每到周日,我和她就会到处去探访日本的咖啡馆。

So she and I would go around on Sundays and explore Japanese coffee houses.

Speaker 1

我们一边做着自己喜欢的事,一边用日语点单。

So we were pursuing our hobby, but we were also ordering in Japanese.

Speaker 1

那些都是很老派的咖啡馆,特别有传统味道,真棒。

These are very old cafes, very traditional Wow.

Speaker 1

用的是传统的日式手冲咖啡方式。

With the traditional pour over Japanese coffee.

Speaker 1

这简直就是深度的文化体验——我做着自己喜欢的事,同时也在学语言。

And it was such cultural immersion and I was doing what I loved, but I was learning the language at the same time.

Speaker 1

而且我还有朋友陪着。

And I was with my friend.

Speaker 1

真是太棒了。

It was so cool.

Speaker 0

哦,太棒了。

Oh, how awesome.

Speaker 0

我喜欢这个。

I love that.

Speaker 0

真不错,林赛。

Very cool, Lindsay.
