Speaker 1

嘿,奥布里。

Hey, Aubrey.

Speaker 1

你对新的一年感觉如何?

How are you feeling about the New Year?

Speaker 0

我非常喜欢新的一年。

I I love a new year.

Speaker 0

一个全新的开始。

A fresh start.

Speaker 0

你呢?

What about you?

Speaker 1

嗯。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

挺好。

It's good.

Speaker 1

感觉不错。

It feels good.

Speaker 1

感觉焕然一新。

Feels fresh.

Speaker 1

你通常会设定目标吗?你擅长为新年制定目标吗?

Do you typically set goals and are you good at doing that for the new year?

Speaker 0

我尽量吧。

I try to.

Speaker 0

尤其是锻炼方面的目标。

Especially exercise goals.

Speaker 0

每到1月1日,我都会制定一些非常具体的锻炼目标。

Whenever January 1 hits, I'll like make some really specific exercise goals.

Speaker 0

而且我坚持得还不错,至少能坚持一段时间。

And I'm pretty good with sticking with them, at least for a while.

Speaker 0

你呢?

About you?

Speaker 0

你会在新年时设定目标吗?

You set goals in the new year?

Speaker 1

我很少设定个人目标,但团队有时会设定一些业务目标, definitely。

I don't really set personal goals so much, but business goals, I think we do as a team sometimes, or Definitely.

Speaker 1

我个人嘛,是的,是的。

Personally I Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1

肯定得有一些我们希望在这一年里实现的目标,对吧?

There's got to be something, right, that we aspire to for the year.

Speaker 0

当然。

For sure.

Speaker 0

你知道,我们每个人在迎接新年时都会有这种感觉,对吧?

Know, we all feel that way, right, when we're hitting a new year.

Speaker 0

好吧,今年我一定要做出这个改变。

Okay, this is the year that I'm going to make this change.

Speaker 1

是的,当然。

Yes, for sure.

Speaker 1

说到目标,对我们很多听众来说,他们学习英语的一个重要原因是为了加薪、获得晋升、赚更多钱。

And so speaking of goals, I mean, thing for a lot of our listeners, a big reason our listeners are learning English is to get a salary increase, get a promotion, make more money.

Speaker 1

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 1

我们很少谈论这一点,但英语能力直接带来薪资增长。

We don't talk about this enough, but English skills directly lead to increased salary.

Speaker 1

我的意思是,甚至有数据支持。

Mean, there's even data.

Speaker 1

你能给我们讲一点数据吗,奥布里?

Can you give us a little bit of the data, Aubrey?

Speaker 0

好的。

Yes.

Speaker 0

培生公司的一项调查显示,良好的英语能力可以使薪资增加多达80%。

A survey by Pearson found that strong English skills can complete as much as an 80% increase in salary.

Speaker 0

想象一下,如果你的薪资增加80%,琳达,你能做些什么呢?

Imagine what you could do with an 80% increase in salary, Lindsay.

Speaker 1

天啊,想想看。

Oh my gosh, imagine that.

Speaker 1

这太惊人了。

That's insane.

Speaker 1

对,这就是我们在这里的原因。

Right, so that's why we're here.

Speaker 1

我的意思是,听众们都知道这一点。

I mean, listeners know this.

Speaker 1

他们知道这里有机遇,但如何抓住它就成了问题,对吧?

They know there's the opportunity, but how do we reach out and grab it becomes the question, right?

Speaker 0

没错,就是这样。

Exactly, right.

Speaker 0

为了获得这些晋升和加薪,你需要能够在会议中自然地表达自己,清晰自信地组织想法,并与客户和同事进行社交。

In order to get those promotions, that salary increase, you need to be able to do all of speak up naturally in a meeting, organize ideas with clarity and confidence, socialize with clients and colleagues.

Speaker 1

是的,确实如此。

Yeah, it's true.

Speaker 1

我的意思是,社交是商业成功的重要组成部分。

I mean, socializing is a big part of business success.

Speaker 1

这不仅仅是硬技能。

It's not just the hard stuff.

Speaker 1

不仅仅是数字、图表和电子表格。

It's not just the numbers and the charts and the spreadsheets.

Speaker 1

而是人际关系。

It's relationships.

Speaker 1

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

而这正是我们今天要关注的重点,对吧?

And that's what we're focusing on today, right?

Speaker 0

我们今天重点讲英语社交,因为这是建立人脉的关键技能。

We are focusing on socializing in English because this is such a key skill to building your network.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

而且这非常重要,实际上是一个巨大的重点。

And it's a big it's actually a huge focus.

Speaker 1

这是我们商务英语课程中的一个重要模块。

It's a major module inside our Business English course.

Speaker 1

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 1

特别是,我们在社交和闲聊方面设置了多个课程,但我们也教授一种三步准备策略,帮助你为社交互动做好准备。

And specifically, we go into multiple lessons within socializing and small talk, but we do teach a three step preparation strategy on how to prepare for a social interaction.

Speaker 1

对吧,奥布里?

Right, Aubrey?

Speaker 0

没错,对吧?

Exactly, right?

Speaker 0

正如你所说,这个模块内容非常丰富。

Like you said, that module is so rich.

Speaker 0

我们采访了一位在建立人脉方面取得巨大成功的首席执行官。

We interview a CEO who has had great success building a network.

Speaker 0

他参加过许多会议,获得了许多宝贵的建议。

He has attended so many conferences, has had such great advice.

Speaker 0

但没错,我们今天要向你们传授这个三步策略,帮助你们做好准备,建立自己的社交网络,应对闲聊或与之前认识的人建立关系。

But yes, we teach this three step strategy that we're going to share with you today so that you can be prepared to build your social network, to be ready for the small talk or building relationships with people that you have met before.

Speaker 0

这其中涉及的内容太多了。

So much that goes into this.

Speaker 1

这正是我喜欢商务英语课程的一点。

And that's one thing that I love about the Business English course.

Speaker 1

你们学到的不仅仅是从我们这里,还包括我们采访的母语者,我们会把这些录音带入课程中。

You're learning not necessarily just from us, you're learning from the native speakers that we interviewed, and we bring these recordings to you in the course.

Speaker 1

此外,我们还进行了调查,亚伯,从我们认识的活跃在商业领域的人那里收集了100份问卷回复,了解他们现在常用的词汇。

In addition, we surveyed, we got a 100 survey responses, Aubrey, from people that we know that are active in the business world of what are the words they're using now.

Speaker 1

这些词是他们提供的。

That came from them.

Speaker 1

不是我们或教科书里的。

That didn't come from us or a textbook.

Speaker 1

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 1

这些词被纳入了课程中。

And these words were placed into the course.

Speaker 1

太好了。

So good.

Speaker 0

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

这是一门很棒的课程。

It's an amazing course.

Speaker 0

我今天很高兴能和大家分享这个策略。

I'm excited to share this strategy with you guys today.

Speaker 1

所以,各位,赶紧行动吧。

So, guys, get in.

Speaker 1

好吗?

All right?

Speaker 0

太棒了。

Awesome.

Speaker 0

好的。

All right.

Speaker 0

让我们开始分享这个三步策略。

Let's dive in to share this three step strategy.

Speaker 0

如果你即将参加一个会议或活动,知道你需要社交、建立关系和拓展人脉,那么你可以提前做很多事情。

If you have a conference coming up or a meeting, if you know that you're going to be in a situation where you need to socialize, where you're wanting to build those relationships, build that network, there's so much that you can do in advance.

Speaker 0

那么,琳达,我们来分享第一步吧。

So let's share step one, Lindsay.

Speaker 1

是啊,总的来说,这一步我们称之为打开你的思维盒子,对吧?

Yeah, mean, the broad step here is what we call opening your brain box, right?

Speaker 1

这个概念最初来自IELTS Energy,但它对语言学习整体来说都是一个很好的理念,因为你是在为这个活动做心理准备。

This came up on IELTS Energy originally, but it's a great concept for language learning in general because you're kind of mentally preparing for this event.

Speaker 1

这不就是我们本质上在做的事情吗?

Isn't that what we're doing essentially,

Speaker 0

是的,没错。

Yes, exactly.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

在对话开始前,你想要思考并回答一些具体的问题,对吧?

And there are specific questions that you want to think about, answer before the conversation starts, right?

Speaker 0

在你去参加会议、参加电话会议、工作晚餐或派对之前。

Before you go into a meeting or take a conference call before a work dinner or a party.

Speaker 0

你需要问自己,例如,我会在哪里?

You want to ask yourself, for example, where will I be?

Speaker 0

比如,从心理上把自己代入那个场景。

Like, mentally put yourself in that place.

Speaker 0

我对这个地方了解多少?

What do I know about this place?

Speaker 0

在这种情况下,人们通常会聊些什么?

What do people talk about in this situation?

Speaker 0

在那里我有机会和谁交谈?

And who will I have a chance to talk to there?

Speaker 1

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 1

所以你实际上是在心理上预演一遍。

So you are literally mentally rehearsing it.

Speaker 1

这源于我昨晚的一次对话。

This came up in a conversation I was having just last night.

Speaker 1

我对话的那个人用了一个词,而这个词是我们两天前的对话中提到过的,我当时就想,哦,这就是你用这个词的原因。

The person I was talking to used a word that had come up in a prior conversation we had had two days before, and I was like, oh, here's why you use that.

Speaker 1

大脑中的思维框架是这个词出现的原因。

The brain box is the reason that word came up.

Speaker 1

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 1

我确信她对‘大脑框架’这个概念不像我这么感兴趣,但这些词就是会冒出来。

I'm sure she wasn't interested in the brain box concept as much as I was, but it's like the words are bubbling up.

Speaker 1

事情都在不断浮现,对吧?

Things are bubbling up, right?

Speaker 1

这给了我们一个准备的机会。

This gives us an opportunity to prepare.

Speaker 0

好吧?

Okay?

Speaker 0

没错,对吧?

Exactly, right?

Speaker 0

当你在考虑你会和谁交谈时,你需要问自己:我已经对他们了解多少?

And when you're thinking about who you'll be talking to, you want to ask yourself, you know, what do I already know about them?

Speaker 0

我已经知道他们的工作吗?他们有家庭吗?住在哪里?空闲时间喜欢做什么?

Do I already know their job, if they have a family, where they live, what they like to do in their free time?

Speaker 0

这会帮助你回忆起他们之前告诉过你的任何信息,或者为你提供一些可以问他们的问题思路。

This will give you, you know, help you recall anything they have already told you or give you ideas for questions to ask them.

Speaker 1

这看起来非常简单,似乎也很基础,但其实并不是这样。

It's so simple and it seems very elementary, but it's not.

Speaker 1

我的意思是,你也可以想想,有哪些关于他们的事情是你不知道但又想了解的。

I mean, you can also think about what do I not know about them that I would like to know.

Speaker 1

这样可以帮助我们避免大脑一片空白的时刻,我认为很多听众都会为此感到焦虑。

So this will help us prevent the moment that our mind goes blank, which is something I think a lot of our listeners stress out about.

Speaker 0

当然。

Absolutely.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

所以,举个例子,如果你知道一位叫珍妮弗的人会来,你就会想,好吧,她曾提到过她喜欢滑雪。

So, for example, if you know someone named Jennifer is going to be there, you'd be thinking, okay, she has mentioned that she loves skiing.

Speaker 0

所以,我会问她什么时候开始滑雪,以及她上次去是什么时候。

So, I'm going to ask her when she started skiing and when she went last.

Speaker 0

然后你会感到自信。

And then you're going to feel confident.

Speaker 0

你会做好准备。

You're going to be prepared.

Speaker 0

你可以想出一些可能会问她的问题。

You can come up with the phrases you would maybe ask her.

Speaker 1

嗯。

Mhmm.

Speaker 1

太棒了。

Love it.

Speaker 1

即使没提到或者觉得不太合适也没关系。

And no big deal if it doesn't come up or if it doesn't feel like it fits.

Speaker 1

这完全没问题。

That is totally fine.

Speaker 1

我们不必问这个问题。

We don't have to ask this question.

Speaker 1

这只是一个心理练习,帮助我们进入那个时刻。

This is just a mental exercise we're doing to settle ourselves into that moment.

Speaker 1

好吗?

Okay?

Speaker 1

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 0

好的。

All right.

Speaker 0

我们还做什么?

What else do we do?

Speaker 0

你要决定如何开始对话,对吧?

You are going to decide how you're going to start the conversation, right?

Speaker 0

通过提前做好准备,我们可以消除尴尬。

This is where we can eliminate awkwardness by knowing ahead of time.

Speaker 0

比如,好吧,知道我要和谁谈,以及怎么开始。

Like, okay, know who I'm gonna talk to and how I'm gonna start.

Speaker 0

你可以记下可能要说的话,写下对话可能如何展开的角色扮演。

And you can take notes about what you might say, write out possible role plays of how the conversation might go.

Speaker 0

就像林赛说的,实际情况可能不会完全这样发展。

Just like Lindsay said, it might not go exactly this way.

Speaker 0

你可能会在现场临时想到另一种方式,或者别的什么话来开启对话。

You might sort of on the fly think of a different way, something else to comment on to start the conversation.

Speaker 0

但这样做会帮助你建立信心,因为你已经有了想法。

But this is going to help you build confidence because you have ideas.

Speaker 0

它会

It's going

Speaker 1

帮助你更自然地应对,因为你有一个备选方案。

to help you be more spontaneous because you know you have a backup plan.

Speaker 1

你有一个小小的备选方案,知道可以说些什么。

You have a little bit of a backup plan of what you could say.

Speaker 1

这将给我们带来一种心理上的自由,我认为这正是我们在说英语和进行交流时所追求的。

It's going to give us that freedom of mind that I think we're looking for when it comes to speaking and connecting in English.

Speaker 1

所以,这可能会是这样的场景。

So, here's what it could look like.

Speaker 1

你会走过去对詹妮弗说:嘿,詹妮弗,最近怎么样?

You're going to walk up to Jennifer and you're going to say, Hey, Jennifer, how's it going?

Speaker 1

然后你可能会说:我记得你告诉我你很喜欢滑雪。

Then you might say, I remember you told me you love to ski.

Speaker 1

你滑雪多久了?

How long have you been skiing?

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

不错。

Nice.

Speaker 0

想想看,仅仅记住别人过去告诉你的事情。

And think about how just remembering something someone told you in the past.

Speaker 0

每个人都知道你正在认识这么多人。

Everyone knows you're meeting so many people.

Speaker 0

这已经超出了常规,对吧?

This is going above and beyond, right?

Speaker 0

她会感受到你记得这些,因而觉得被关心。

She's going to feel cared about that you remember this.

Speaker 0

而且这会让她觉得谈话很有趣,因为你问的是她的兴趣。

And it's going to be a fun conversation for her because you're asking about her interests.

Speaker 1

当你记得别人之前说过的话时,这非常重要。

It's huge when you remember what someone said before.

Speaker 1

大多数人或者很多人根本不会这么做。

Most people or many people just don't do it.

Speaker 1

他们根本懒得去记。

They don't bother to.

Speaker 1

他们可能有点太自我中心,或者只是心不在焉。

They're a little too maybe self involved or just distracted.

Speaker 1

所以,当你记得别人告诉你的关于他们自己的事情时,你真的能脱颖而出,非常显著。

So you can really stand out, remarkably so, when you do remember what someone has told you about themselves.

Speaker 0

对。

Right.

Speaker 0

如果你不做这种准备,你可能也无法做到这一点,因为你可能需要坐下来花点时间回忆谁会到场以及他们告诉过你什么。

And if you don't do this preparation, you might not be able to do that either because you might have to sit and think for a little bit to remember who's going to be there and what they've told you.

Speaker 0

如果你到了那里,才第一次想到这件事,你可能就记不起她曾跟你分享过这些了。

And if you get there and that's the first time you think about it, you might not recall that she had shared that with you.

Speaker 1

非常正确。

Very true.

Speaker 1

那么这个过程的第三步是什么?

And then what will be the third step in this process?

Speaker 0

好的。

All right.

Speaker 0

所以第三步是当你开始对话的时候。

So third comes when you start that conversation.

Speaker 0

要做一个积极的倾听者,对吧?

It is to be an active listener, right?

Speaker 0

当你问他们问题时,要认真听他们的回答。

When you ask them a question, listen to the answer.

Speaker 0

尊重你正在交谈的那个人。

Respect the person that you're talking to.

Speaker 0

你想要避免想着接下来要说什么,而是真正地积极倾听。

You want to avoid thinking of what you're going to say next and really listen actively.

Speaker 1

是的,我们经常被问到应该问什么问题?

Yeah, we get a lot of questions of what should I ask?

Speaker 1

我应该问哪些跟进问题?

What follow-up questions should I ask?

Speaker 1

跟进的问题其实就藏在对方说的话里,对吧?

The follow-up questions are right there in what the person's saying, right?

Speaker 1

如果你不知道该问什么跟进问题,那就说明你根本没有认真听。

If you don't know what your follow-up question is, it means you're not really listening.

Speaker 1

而这正是我们强调连接而非完美的哲学所在。

And this is where it comes back to our philosophy of connection, not perfection.

Speaker 1

当你试图建立连接时,不可能专注于完美。

You can't be focused on perfection while trying to connect.

Speaker 1

我认为,我们在这里相信,大脑无法同时做到这两件事。

The brain I believe, we believe here that the brain can't do both.

Speaker 1

大脑无法既陷入自我意识,又同时与他人建立连接。

The brain can't be lost in self consciousness and also be connecting at the same time.

Speaker 0

这太真实了,对吧?

That's so true, right?

Speaker 0

所以珍妮弗的这个例子是个很好的例证。

So this example of Jennifer is a good example.

Speaker 0

你无法预知她会说什么,所以不可能写好每一句话;你可以想象一些可能性,但你必须准备好去倾听。

You don't know exactly what she will say, so you can't write out every, know, you could imagine some possibilities but then you need to be ready to listen.

Speaker 0

如果她说她小时候就开始滑雪,那你就可以问她最初是谁带她去的,或者她在哪里滑雪、住在哪里,还有雪况怎么样?

If she says she started skiing when she was a young child, then you could ask her who she first went with or where she skied, where she lived and you know, how was the snow?

Speaker 0

根据她的回答,可能会出现各种各样的后续问题。

There are all kinds of follow-up questions that could come up depending on how she answers.

Speaker 1

哦,这里我们可以做很多事情。

Oh, there's so much we could do here.

Speaker 1

但其中很重要的一部分是,通过这一系列准备步骤给自己一个优势。

But a big part of it is giving ourselves that leg up by going through this series of steps of preparation.

Speaker 1

这是一个系统,对吧?

It's a system, right?

Speaker 1

这是一种策略,一个突破口。

It's a tactic here, a break.

Speaker 0

没错,对吧?

Exactly, right?

Speaker 0

在事前你可以做很多事情,来做好准备并在那一刻感到自信。

There's so much you can do ahead of time to be prepared and to feel confident in that moment.

Speaker 0

遵循这个三步策略。

Follow this three step strategy.

Speaker 0

这直接来自我们的商业课程,而且非常有效。
