嗨,琳达。

Hey, Lindsay.

Speaker 1

你最近怎么样?

How are you?

Speaker 0

挺好的,米歇尔。

Good, Michelle.

Speaker 0

今天是不是觉得有点困?

Feeling sleepy today?

Speaker 0

有没有想小睡一会儿的念头?

Are you feeling like you wanna take a nap?

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

我确实想睡个午觉。

I am feeling like I wanna take a nap.

Speaker 1

你经常午睡吗,Lindsay?

Do you take a lot of naps, Lindsay?

Speaker 1

你是个爱午睡的人吗?

Are you a napper?

Speaker 0

其实昨天我小睡了一会儿,不过我平时很少这样。

Actually, sort of took a little nap yesterday, but I rarely do.

Speaker 0

但不知怎么的,昨天就是觉得特别累,干脆躺下休息了。

But for some reason yesterday, I was just feeling a little tired, just decided to lie down.

Speaker 0

大概睡了三十分钟,这种事难得有一次,感觉特别舒服。

So it took like a thirty minute nap or so, which was really nice for a change.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

是的

Yeah.

Speaker 1

这挺好。

That's good.

Speaker 1

是的

Yeah.

Speaker 1

尤其是最近,我真的很需要小睡一会儿。

Especially lately, I absolutely need naps.

Speaker 1

我们以前在节目里也聊过睡觉,今天就来聊聊小睡这件事。

And, you know, we've talked about sleeping before on the show, and today we're going to talk about naps.

Speaker 1

是的

Yeah.

Speaker 1

因为这真是个人人都有共鸣的话题——谁没想过要是能小睡一会儿该多好。

Because it is a good conversation topic everyone can relate to that feeling of oh I wish I could get a little nap or something like that.

Speaker 1

如果想睡,能睡吗?

If they nap, can they nap?

Speaker 1

所有这些方面。

All of these things.

Speaker 0

确实挺有意思,上大学的时候,小睡变得特别重要。

Yeah, It's really funny how when you're in college, napping takes on a whole new level of importance.

Speaker 0

不过我学校里好像没这风气。

At least it didn't on my campus.

Speaker 0

我觉得那时候同学们经常小睡,也总在聊小睡。

I feel like kids napped a lot in college and talked about napping a lot in college.

Speaker 0

是啊。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

成年后就没那么频繁了,但偶尔还是能偷个懒打个盹。

Less so in adult life, but we still get to grab a nap once in a while.

Speaker 0

今天我们就来好好聊聊这些,不过在那之前,我想特别感谢一下在Spotify上留下评论和评分的几位朋友。

So we're gonna get into all this today and how to talk about it, but I wanna call out a couple of people that left comments and reviews over on Spotify and just say a huge thank you.

Speaker 0

感谢Saddam Mode。

So thank you to Saddam Mode.

Speaker 0

谢谢Eins。

Thank you to Eins.

Speaker 0

谢谢Giriardi,也谢谢Tony Souza 17。

Thank you to, Giriardi, and thank you to Tony Souza 17.

Speaker 0

这些都是听众花时间写下留言、打分和评论的。

These are all listeners who took the time to go and write a message, left a rating and review.

Speaker 0

无论你在哪儿听,都给我们的节目打个分、写个评价,告诉我们你的想法。

Wherever you listen, rate our show, review our show, Tell us what you think about the show.

Speaker 0

好吗?

Alright?

Speaker 1

当然。

Definitely.

Speaker 1

好的。

Alright.

Speaker 1

非常感谢。

Thank you so much.

Speaker 1

那我们先来学一些关键词汇,然后再做一些互动问题。

So let's go into so we're gonna do some key vocab, and then we're gonna do some connection questions, basically.

Speaker 1

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 1

这是第一个问题。

So, this is the first one.

Speaker 1

Lindsay,你昨天小睡了三十分钟,醒来的时候是立刻感觉精神了,还是觉得昏昏沉沉的?

So when you took that nap yesterday, Lindsay, the thirty minute nap, did you wake up and did you feel refreshed right away or did you feel groggy?

Speaker 0

是的,我觉得那不算真正的午睡,因为我根本没完全睡着。

Yeah, I guess it wasn't a proper nap because I never fully fell asleep.

Speaker 0

我只是闭上眼睛,放松了一下。

I just kind of closed my eyes and relaxed.

Speaker 0

不过我白天小睡后,通常都会觉得昏沉沉的。

But like, I do tend to feel groggy after I nap during the day.

Speaker 0

所以我就干脆不睡了。

That's why I usually don't do it at all.

Speaker 0

就是因为在小睡之后感觉不太好。

Just because of the way you feel after.

Speaker 0

‘昏昏沉沉’这个词用得挺贴切的。

So groggy is a good is a good word.

Speaker 0

昏昏沉沉的感觉是怎样的?

What does it feel like to be groggy?

Speaker 1

觉得昏昏沉沉,就是整个人有点懵。

To be groggy, you just feel like out of it.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

也可以说人有点懵。

You could also say out of it.

Speaker 1

就是感觉提不起精神。

You just don't feel.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

你有点迷糊。

You're like a little confused.

Speaker 1

感觉不舒服。

Don't feel good.

Speaker 1

其实也没觉得特别累。

You don't feel feel more tired really.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

没错。

Yes.

Speaker 0

有点脱离现实的感觉。

A little disconnected from earth.

Speaker 1

对。

Right.

Speaker 1

我总觉得好像是第二天了。

I always feel like it's the next day.

Speaker 1

你也有这种感觉吗?

Like, do you have that?

Speaker 1

真的吗?

I feel like really?

Speaker 1

明明都发生在同一天,可我总觉得特别奇怪。

Like this was all in the same day, but I feel it's just so funny.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

这感觉跟我看完一场白天的电影走出来时差不多。

It's a little bit of the same feeling I get when I walk out of a movie, like a daytime movie.

Speaker 0

突然间,光线打在身上。

It's like, oh, the light hits you.

Speaker 0

你就会愣一下。

You're like, wait.

Speaker 0

现在是白天?

It's daytime?

Speaker 0

今天到底是几号啊?

What what day is it?

Speaker 0

现在是第几周了?

What week is it?

Speaker 0

我完全懵了,一点方向都没有。

I'm totally confused and lost.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

所以你想找个完美的午睡时间,醒过来刚好精神饱满,这词儿用得真好。

So I it's hard to hit that sweet spot when you nap to where you just wake up feeling refreshed, which is another great word.

Speaker 1

对。

Mhmm.

Speaker 1

而且我觉得很多人都睡醒后昏昏沉沉的。

It's kinda and I feel like a lot of people wake up groggy.

Speaker 1

而且确实如此。

And Yeah.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

我经常遇到这种情况,一醒来就昏昏沉沉的,感觉快不行了,特别难受,但大概半小时后,才慢慢体会到小睡带来的好处。

A lot of times what happens to me is I will wake up groggy and I feel like I'm going to die and I'm like this is not a good feeling and then maybe in half an hour later then I start to feel the benefits of what I had done.

Speaker 1

不过刚开始确实挺难受的。

But it's not good at first.

Speaker 0

刚开始确实不好受。

It's not good at first for sure.

Speaker 0

我特别高兴今天我们聊到这个话题,因为我知道世界各地的听众中,小睡是很多文化的一部分,比如午休。

I'm also excited we're talking about this today because I know our listeners around the world, napping is a part of different cultures, siesta.

Speaker 1

没错。

That's true.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

很多文化都有午休的习惯。

And many cultures have a siesta period.

Speaker 0

也许在城市里这种做法越来越少了,但我记得去西班牙北部的时候,中午十二点到三点整个城市都停摆了。

Maybe it's becoming less and less common in the cities, but I know when I visited places like Northern Spain, everything is shut down between what, like twelve and three.

Speaker 0

所以我们的听众里,肯定还有不少人保持着每天午睡的习惯,尤其是在不同文化中。

So some of our listeners are still really enjoying daily naps, I'm sure, in different cultures.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

尤其是在气候炎热的地区。

Especially in hotter cultures.

Speaker 0

这非常重要。

So this is huge.

Speaker 0

这真的很重要。

This is huge.

Speaker 1

确实如此。

Definitely.

Speaker 1

说到‘groggy’这个词,拼写是 G-R-O-G-G-Y,你可能会听到有人说:‘我睡了大概二十分钟。’

So for the word groggy, G R O G G Y, you might hear, I slept for about twenty minutes.

Speaker 1

我现在还有点昏昏沉沉的,不过很快就会清醒过来。

I'm groggy right now, but I'll perk up soon.

Speaker 0

对,就是这样。

Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 0

‘groggy’这个词真的很关键,一定要掌握。

So groggy is a really important word to know.

Speaker 0

这就像睡醒后的醉酒感,对吧?

It's a bit of a sleep hangover, right?

Speaker 1

没错,这个说法挺贴切的,

Yeah, that's a good way to And put

Speaker 0

那小睡或者快速小憩特别有用,我们说要小睡一会儿的时候,到底想表达什么呢?

then cat nap or power nap is really good because what are we trying to say when we're saying we're gonna take a cat nap or a power nap?

Speaker 1

就是给自己安排一个能提神的短睡,让你恢复精力,而且时间很短。

You're gonna give yourself a nap that gives you power, that gives you that and it's a fast.

Speaker 1

甚至可能只要十五分钟就够了。

It's not like it could even be fifteen minutes.

Speaker 1

你不会把三小时的睡觉叫做小憩或者快速打个盹吧。

It's not you don't say power nap or cat nap about a three hour nap.

Speaker 1

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 0

对。

Yes.

Speaker 0

当然。

Absolutely.

Speaker 0

就是短暂地休息一下,然后你暗示自己醒过来会状态更好。

It's just a light one and then you're implying that you're going to be better off after.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

比如我会小睡一会儿,好撑过剩下的白天。

So for example, I'm going to take a quick power nap to get me through the rest of the day.

Speaker 0

今晚得熬到很晚了。

It's going to be a long night.

Speaker 1

对啊。

Mhmm.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

然后就会彻底垮掉。

And then there's crash.

Speaker 1

就是你累到不行,直接就睡着了。

That's when you're so tired, you just fall asleep.

Speaker 1

没错。

So Yes.

Speaker 1

对啊。

Mhmm.

Speaker 1

午饭后我会试着休息一下。

After lunch, I try to take a rest.

Speaker 1

我头一沾枕头就直接睡着了。

As soon as I as my head hits the pillow, I just crash.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

这在口语里是形容睡着的常用说法。

This is a really common slangy way to talk about falling asleep.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

说‘睡死’。

To crash.

Speaker 0

我昨晚十点半就睡了,比原计划早了一点。

I crashed last night at 10:30 a little earlier than I was planning to.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

这种说法在我们日常用语里到处都是。

I mean, it's everywhere in our language.

Speaker 0

这是睡觉的一种很口语的说法。

A very slangy way to say go to sleep.

Speaker 0

差不多就是这个意思。

Basically.

Speaker 1

是的, definitely。

Yeah, definitely.

Speaker 1

Lindsay,你小睡的时候,通常都能睡着吗?

Lindsay, so when you nap, do you normally fall asleep?

Speaker 1

你是故意想小睡一会儿吗?

Are you trying to nap?

Speaker 1

昨天你是打算好要小睡,还是不知不觉就睡着了?

Yesterday, were you like, okay, I'm going to take a nap or does it just kind of happen?

Speaker 0

要是我能给出答案就好了。

Wish I had answers.

Speaker 0

说实话,我很少小睡。

I'm not much of a napper, to be honest.

Speaker 0

我其实不太午睡,因为上大学那会儿大家都睡,我也跟着睡。

I really don't nap very much because I mean, I was a napper in college because everyone was napping.

Speaker 0

那时候大学里午睡成了一种风气,宿舍里大家熬夜,白天就得补觉。

That was like part of the culture in college because kids would stay up late in the dorm life.

Speaker 0

就是顺其自然地睡一会儿。

You just napped.

Speaker 0

那是大学生活的一部分。

It was part of your life in college.

Speaker 0

但说实话,当了大人以后,我就很少午睡了。

But I I don't really nap as an adult that much, to be honest.

Speaker 0

你呢,米歇尔?

What about you, Michelle?

Speaker 0

我的意思是

I mean

Speaker 1

我现在会午睡,但以前根本睡不着。

Now I do, but I used to not be able to.

Speaker 1

我朋友刚跟我说,因为我最近能快速睡个二十分钟的午觉,我就跟他说了,结果他说他根本做不到。

I mean, yeah, my friend just told me, oh, because I was able to take a quick twenty minute nap recently and I told my friend and he said, I can't do that.

Speaker 1

二十分钟算什么。

Gonna, twenty minutes is nothing.

Speaker 1

你知道吗,我以前要花好久才能睡着。

Know, it takes so long to fall asleep.

Speaker 1

最近我睡得快多了,不过现在又没那么快了。

Lately I've been able to sleep faster and now not so much.

Speaker 1

对我来说,最长的午觉时间是在车里,不是开车的时候,是坐在副驾驶座上。

Like the biggest nap time for me is if I'm riding in the car, not when I'm driving, when I'm in the passenger seat.

Speaker 1

因为那种晃动特别容易让人犯困。

Because it's all that motion.

Speaker 1

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 1

没错。

And Yeah.

Speaker 1

我孩子也是,我知道很多家长都有过这种经历。

With my kids even if, you know, that's how I mean, I'm sure a lot of parents can relate to this.

Speaker 1

要是孩子不肯午睡,怎么也睡不着,你多半会干脆带他上车兜一圈。

If your child won't nap, if your child won't fall asleep, you probably put them in the car and drive them around.

Speaker 1

而且这一点

And that

Speaker 0

我确实也遇到过这种情况。

does I've the that.

Speaker 0

是的,我听说过这种说法。

Yeah, I've heard that.

Speaker 0

对我来说,只有在之前一整晚没睡好之后,才容易补个觉。

For me, it's always like the nap will happen if I'm recovering from a time when I couldn't sleep.

Speaker 0

现在每次飞越大西洋去欧洲,那趟本该好好睡觉的夜间航班,我反而怎么都睡不着。

Every time I fly across The Atlantic to Europe these days, I cannot sleep the overnight flight where you're supposed to sleep.

Speaker 0

所以接下来总会有个短途航段,比如从慕尼黑飞斯洛文尼亚,或者慕尼黑飞意大利之类的。

And so there's and then there's always like a, you know, Munich to Slovenia or Munich to Italy, whatever.

Speaker 0

总有一段特别短的航班,大概一个半小时左右。

There's always a tiny flight that's like an hour and a half.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

我在这类航班上能小睡一会儿,但醒来后反而更难受。

I'll nap on that flight and I'll feel awful when I wake up.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

这方法不对劲。

It's the wrong way.

Speaker 0

身体根本搞不清状况,因为夜间飞行时屏幕太晃眼了。

It's like the body doesn't know what because the screens are really distracting at night on that overnight Yeah.

Speaker 0

大西洋航线上的夜间飞行。

Atlantic flight.

Speaker 1

总会有那么一个人把灯关了。

And there's always that one person turning the light off.

Speaker 0

天哪。

Oh my gosh.

Speaker 0

太离谱了。

It's crazy.

Speaker 0

我通常都在不该睡、也不想睡的时候打盹。

So usually my naps happen more at times when I probably shouldn't be napping or don't want to be napping.

Speaker 0

你懂的。

You know?

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

有时候我就觉得,要是睡一觉,反而会比不睡更难受。

Because sometimes I I remember feeling like, I'm gonna feel actually worse if I nap than if I don't nap.

Speaker 1

这种情况也会发生。

So that can happen too.

Speaker 1

这挺有意思的。

That's interesting.

Speaker 0

没错。

Totally.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

真的很有趣。

Really interesting.

Speaker 0

好的。

All right.

Speaker 0

这显然是一项非常重要的沟通技巧。

So this is obviously a huge connection skill.

Speaker 0

人都需要睡觉。

Human beings need sleep.

Speaker 0

我们都是普通人。

We are all human here.

Speaker 0

所以我们可以从最基本的人类需求上找到共鸣。

So we can connect on our, like, the basic human needs.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

而且说到这个能拉近距离的话题,你看——

So And I mean, as far as it being a connection topic, look.

Speaker 1

你跟我分享说,你现在不午睡了,但上大学的时候会,这就能引出一大段关于大学生活的讨论,有太多可以聊的了,但这些确实都是很好的开场话题。

Like, you're sharing with me, okay, I don't nap now, in in college, you know, and then that could lead us into a whole another, you know, conversation about college and So what it was there's so much there, but there are kind of starter questions here.

Speaker 1

所以,Lindsay,你能问的一个问题是啥?

So Lindsay, what's one thing you can ask?

Speaker 0

我可以问你,你平时能小睡一会儿吗?

Yeah, I mean I can ask you, are you able to take naps?

Speaker 0

就像我说的,不是所有成年人都有时间或者有能力小睡,对吧?

Because like I said, we said not all adults are able to or do or make the time for it, right?

Speaker 1

你甚至可以直接问:你是爱小睡的人吗?

Or you could even say, are you a napper?

Speaker 0

你是爱小睡的人吗?

Are you a napper?

Speaker 1

就是那种会小睡的人。

That's a person who takes naps.

Speaker 1

不过有些回答可能是:我睡不着,或者我真想睡,又或者我一有空就小睡。

But yeah, some answers might be, oh I can't nap or I wish I could or yes I nap whenever I can.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

你能在户外小睡一会儿吗?

Are you able to nap outdoors?

Speaker 0

比如躺在吊床上,或者在沙滩上睡?

Like do you nap in hammocks, on the beach?

Speaker 0

说不准,就是你在外头的时候,能睡得着吗?

Don't know, like when you're outside, are you able to nap?

Speaker 0

米歇尔?

Michelle?

Speaker 1

好问题。

Good question.

Speaker 1

等夏天我多在外面活动时再告诉你,不过目前我觉得自己不太会。

I will let you know when I am outside more in the summer, but no, I don't think as much.

Speaker 1

我多半是窝在沙发上,但在车里倒是有可能。

Think I'm on the couch, but in the car, that's

Speaker 0

对,车里确实是小睡的最佳地点。

the Okay, in the car is the sweet spot for that.

Speaker 1

对,没错。

Yes, exactly.

Speaker 1

那我再问一个问题。

So and then here's another question.

Speaker 1

你一般睡多久?

How long do you nap for?

Speaker 0

明白。

Mhmm.

Speaker 0

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 0

在日常口语里,很多人可能会说,句尾用‘four’听起来不太规范。

And here, know, in casual English, a lot of grammarians might say we don't like that four at the end Four.

Speaker 0

就是那个‘Yep’结尾的。

Of that Yep.

Speaker 0

但我们不在意,因为这是口语嘛。

But we don't mind it because this is verbal English.

Speaker 0

这是口语表达。

This is spoken English.

Speaker 1

人们就这么说。

People say it.

Speaker 0

这是人与人之间的连接。

This is human connection.

Speaker 0

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 0

这正是《All Ears English》的目标。

So that's the goal in All Ears English.

Speaker 0

我们在这里并不是要当特别死板的语法规则派。

We are not trying to be super strict grammarians here.

Speaker 0

我们会教语法,但始终更看重交流而非语法完美。

We're going to teach you grammar, but we're always going to favor connection over grammar perfection.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

所以我们教你的,都是我们平时怎么说的。

So we're going to teach you what we say.

Speaker 1

因为你不可能遇到一个母语者,然后聊天时问:'你午睡多久?'

Because you're not going to run into a native speaker and you're just having a conversation and you say how long do you nap for?

Speaker 1

人家会一脸惊讶:'啊?'

They're like, really?

Speaker 1

'多久?'

For?

Speaker 0

对啊。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

他们根本听不懂你这么问。

They're not going know.

Speaker 0

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 0

咱们在这儿学的,都是特别实用的英语。

Very practical English we're learning over here.

Speaker 0

所以,米歇尔,如果我问你你通常午睡多久,你会怎么回答?

So how would you answer this if I ask you Michelle, how long do you nap for?

Speaker 1

你可能会说,哦,我就小睡一会儿,或者一般睡十分钟、二十分钟,或者一个小时,对吧?

You might say something like, Oh, I just take a quick power nap or I usually nap for about ten minutes, twenty minutes or an hour, right?

Speaker 0

对的。

Mhmm.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

然后你睡醒之后会觉得精神焕发吗?

And then do you feel refreshed when you wake up?

Speaker 0

没错。

Right.

Speaker 0

这也是我们可能会问的另一个问题。

That's another question we might ask.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

如果你真的对午睡上了瘾,那可能你是在学着怎么当个成年人还能好好午睡。

If you're really getting into this napping thing, maybe you're trying to learn how to nap as an adult.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 1

你可以说,我醒过来感觉好多了,或者我醒过来还是昏昏沉沉的。

So you could say something like, oh, I wake up and I feel much better or I wake up pretty groggy.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

你也可以问,你有没有在最奇怪的地方睡过觉?

The or you could also ask what's the craziest place you've ever taken a nap?

Speaker 0

对我来说,肯定是在博物馆里。

For me, it was definitely in a museum.

Speaker 0

我最近好像就在博物馆睡了一觉,可能是在斯洛文尼亚,或者欧洲的某个地方。

I think I took a nap in a museum recently in maybe it was Slovenia or somewhere in Europe.

Speaker 0

那是刚跨大西洋飞行完之后的事。

It was after, you know, the Cross Atlantic flight.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

刚到欧洲的那天,你总会想撑着不睡一整天。

It's that first day when you if you go to Europe, you try to stay up all day.

Speaker 1

你

You

Speaker 0

通常早上九点或十点落地。

usually land around 10AM or 9AM.

Speaker 0

我们从丹佛、从东海岸出发的话,落地时间可能更早。

What we do from Denver, from the East Coast, you might land even earlier.

Speaker 0

我不太确定。

I'm not sure.

Speaker 0

但你千万别做的一件事就是马上去睡觉。

And then you don't like the thing you shouldn't do is go to bed.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

所以你得想个办法撑完整整一天不睡觉。

So you have to find a way to stay awake that whole day.

Speaker 0

我们通常会安排个美食之旅,或者到处走走逛逛。

We usually try to book like a food tour, like tours or moving.

Speaker 0

哦,这主意不错,不过这次我们去了博物馆,我居然在那儿看展览时打起了瞌睡,还坐在第一排,我觉得旁边的人可能都在笑我。

Oh, that's a good But I think this time we went to a museum and I definitely I was watching a movie in the museum and I kind of nodded off in the front row and I think people were laughing at me actually.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

那你呢?

So what about you?

Speaker 0

你遇到过最奇怪的……

What's the

Speaker 1

说到这个,我想起我嫂子,记得我二十出头住在纽约的时候,他们来探望我,我嫂子居然在酒吧里睡着了。

case Well that makes me think of, well I am thinking of my sister-in-law because I remember when I lived in New York, I mean when I was in my early twenties and they came to visit me and my sister-in-law fell asleep in a bar.

Speaker 0

太离谱了。

That's crazy.

Speaker 1

有人走过来,以为她喝醉了,是吧?

Somebody came over because they thought she was really drunk, right?

Speaker 1

但她根本没醉。

But she wasn't.

Speaker 1

她就是比我们其他人更容易犯困。

Just falls asleep earlier than the rest of us.

Speaker 1

那倒不是小睡,更像是她一有机会就想直接躺下过夜。

It wasn't so much a nap, think it was like she was down for the night if she could have been.

Speaker 0

真有意思。

Funny.

Speaker 1

晚上九点还在酒吧,人家就过来提醒她不能睡在这里,以为她

This is like nine at night in the bar and they're like you can't sleep in here because they think you're

Speaker 0

以为她喝醉了。

They think you're drunk.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

我印象中她就是这样。

That's what I remember from her.

Speaker 1

不过,确实。

But, yeah.

Speaker 1

所以那个

So that that

Speaker 0

挺有意思的。

was funny.

Speaker 0

这个真不错。

That's a good one.

Speaker 0

这个真不错。

That's a good one.

Speaker 0

在酒吧里睡着了。

Falling asleep in a bar.

Speaker 0

挺喜欢的。

Like it.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

好的,米歇尔。

Alright, Michelle.

Speaker 0

很明显,这是个关于联结的话题。

So clearly this is a connection topic.

Speaker 0

我们喜欢这个,因为我们都爱睡觉。

We're enjoying this because we both like we both sleep.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

所以我们有这个共同点。

So we have that in common.

Speaker 0

就像天气一样。

It's like the weather.

Speaker 0

你知道吗,有时候你真的可以顺着这个话题聊得很远,就像你说的,米歇尔,把它当成一个跳板,引向其他更有趣的话题。

You know, you can actually get pretty far sometimes and you can use it as, you said Michelle, a branching off topic, a jumping to off get into other areas that might be more interesting.

Speaker 0

那我们来做个角色扮演吧。

So let's look at a little role play here.

Speaker 1

来吧。

Here we go.

Speaker 1

咱们现在是朋友,正在吃午饭。

Here we are friends and we're at lunch.

Speaker 1

我今天真的好累。

I just feel so tired.

Speaker 0

那你有办法小睡一会儿吗?

Well are you able to nap?

Speaker 0

也许你回家后可以打个盹儿。

Maybe you can take a power nap when you get home.

Speaker 1

我睡不着。

I can't nap.

Speaker 1

我从来都睡不着。

I never fall asleep.

Speaker 1

你还能小睡一会儿?

You can nap?

Speaker 0

是的。

Oh yeah.

Speaker 0

要是下午不小睡一会儿,到了晚上我就撑不住了。

If I don't nap in the afternoon, I crash by night.

Speaker 1

那你一般睡多久?

Well how long do you nap for?

Speaker 0

通常就十五分钟,打个盹儿而已。

Usually just a fifteen minute cat nap.

Speaker 1

哇哦。

Oh wow.

Speaker 1

那你睡完会感觉精神些吗?

So do you feel refreshed when you wake up?

Speaker 0

我醒的时候还挺迷糊的,但过几分钟就好多了。

I wake up pretty groggy, but after a few minutes I feel much better.

Speaker 1

不错。

Nice.

Speaker 1

行吧。

Alright.

Speaker 1

我得再试试。

I'll have to try again.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

我觉得在美国文化里,很多成年人可能不太午睡。

I think a lot of I feel like in American culture maybe a lot of adults don't nap as much.

Speaker 0

我不太确定。

I don't know.

Speaker 0

这在我们文化里没那么常见。

It not as much of a part of our culture.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

不过我觉得,有些在家上班的人,我听朋友说过,他们特别累,就歇了一个小时。

Well, I do think that sometimes people who work from home, have I have heard my friends say, oh, I had I was so tired.

Speaker 1

然后呢,你知道的?

I had like a like an hour break and then I you know?

Speaker 1

但我认为这跟你在哪里工作有很大关系。

But I think it kind of depends where you work.

Speaker 1

在办公室里,根本不可能小睡一会儿。

Not going to really nap if you're working in an office.

Speaker 0

是啊,我知道德鲁。

Yeah, know Drew.

Speaker 0

我记得几年前听说有些城市在建那种小午睡舱。

I feel like I heard a few years ago that like different cities were building like little napping pods.

Speaker 0

那时候这生意还挺火的。

That was a business that was taking off.

Speaker 0

但最近我都没再听到关于这事儿的消息了。

But I haven't heard anything lately about it.

Speaker 1

你有在关注吗?可能是在某个地方试过吧。

I you've been checking Yes, was on on a tank maybe.

Speaker 0

对,没错。

Right, right.

Speaker 0

这主意挺好的。

It's a good idea.

Speaker 0

我们这个社会本来就普遍睡眠不足,对吧?

Mean, we're such a sleep deprived culture, right?

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

有时候,这正是你撑完一天所需要的。

Sometimes that's what you need to get you through the rest of the day.

Speaker 1

我们来仔细说说。

Let's go through it.

Speaker 1

你说你感觉特别累,我就问你,能小睡一会儿吗?

So you said, so I said I just feel so tired and you said, you able to nap?

Speaker 1

也许你回家后可以小睡一会儿。

Maybe you can take a power nap when you get home.

Speaker 1

我们为什么总问这种问题,比如‘你能小睡吗’?

And why do we ask things like, you able to nap?

Speaker 1

这种问题凭什么存在?

Why is that even a question?

Speaker 0

这其实是在问你的生活习惯——你作为一个成年人,真的能小睡吗?

Like, it's asking about your habits, your daily, like you, Are you capable of napping as an adult?

Speaker 0

你平时会小睡一会儿吗?

Are you a napper?

Speaker 0

你能睡得着吗?

Can you do it?

Speaker 0

我只是想帮帮你。

I'm trying to help you a little

Speaker 1

有点吧,我想。

bit, I guess.

Speaker 1

我的意思是,这句话可能是在问你有没有时间?

Well, mean, here it could either mean like, Oh, do you have time?

Speaker 1

是不是在问你有没有空小睡一会儿?

It could mean do you time for a nap?

Speaker 0

哦,也可能是在问这个。

Oh, could mean that too.

Speaker 1

对,你有没有时间小睡一会儿?

Right, do you have time for a nap?

Speaker 1

但这也可能只是说,人确实有这种能力。

But it could also just be like, yeah, there's this ability.

Speaker 1

有些人能小睡一会儿,但也有人根本睡不着。

People can nap and some people really can't fall asleep for that.

Speaker 1

有些人小睡之后,晚上反而睡不着了。

Then some people might take a nap and then at night they can't sleep.

Speaker 1

所以他们会想,唉,这会影响我晚上的睡眠。

And so they're like, you know, it'll mess up my night, you know?

Speaker 0

哦,确实如此。

Oh, true.

Speaker 0

有些人只有生病时才会小睡。

And some people only nap when they're sick, really.

Speaker 0

所以如果一个人老是想小睡,那可能身体哪里不对劲。

So, like, you know, something's not right if they're napping.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 1

是的

Yeah.

Speaker 0

每个人都有自己的方式。

Everyone's got their own style.

Speaker 0

这确实没错。

It's that's that's for sure.

Speaker 0

但我们还有个词叫‘crash’。

But then we have the word crash.

Speaker 0

这是很常见的俚语,意思是狠狠地睡一觉,对吧?

Very common slangy way of saying go to sleep or fall asleep hard, right?

Speaker 0

我说,没错,如果下午不小睡一会儿,到了晚上我就撑不住了。

I said, Oh yes, if I don't nap in the afternoon, I crash by nighttime.

Speaker 0

我们说‘晚上’。

We say nighttime.

Speaker 0

而且

And

Speaker 1

然后我问,你一般午睡多久?

then I said, How long do you nap for?

Speaker 1

你肯定不会看着我,一脸惊讶地说:真的吗?

And again, you're not going to look at me and say, Really?

Speaker 1

语法老师米歇尔。

Grammar Michelle.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

母语者根本不会那样做。

No native speakers are not.

Speaker 0

而且母语者也不会去纠正你,对吧?

And also native speakers are not going to correct you either, right?

Speaker 0

那不是我们想要的。

And that's not what we want.

Speaker 0

我们想要的是建立联系。

We want to connect.

Speaker 1

不,我们聊得挺投缘的。

No, we're a good talk.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

要是母语者突然停下来纠正你的英语,那场面可就尴尬了。

It would be awkward if a native speaker stopped and tried to correct your English.

Speaker 0

说实话,随自然就好,重点是建立联系。

Honestly, you know, go with the flow, find the connection.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

真正的流利就是这么来的。

And that's where the fluency comes from.

Speaker 0

明白吗?

Okay?

Speaker 0

很好。

Good.

Speaker 1

所以你说通常就是十五分钟的小憩。

So you said usually just a fifteen minute cat nap.

Speaker 1

然后我问,你睡醒之后感觉精神吗?

And then I said, do you feel refreshed when you wake up?

Speaker 0

我说,这说的是经常性的情况,指的是习惯性的行为,对吧?

And I said, now this is on a regular basis, we're talking about habitually, right?

Speaker 0

因为这就是为什么我们用现在时。

Because that's why we're using the present tense here.

Speaker 0

我说,我醒来的时候总是昏昏沉沉的,但过几分钟就会好很多。

I say, I wake up pretty groggy, but after a few minutes, I feel much better.

Speaker 0

你也可以这么说,我通常也会感觉好多了。

You could say, I usually feel much better too.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

是的,挺不错的建议。

Yeah, so good stuff.

Speaker 1

然后我说,也许我得再试一次。

And then I said maybe I'll have to try it again.

Speaker 1

大家去听听第2616期节目。

Guys check out episode twenty six sixteen.

Speaker 1

那一期的主题是《承认错误却不尴尬》。

That was That's on Admitting Mistakes Without Making It Awkward.

Speaker 1

所以别忘了听那一期。

So listen to that one.

Speaker 1

林赛,今天的要点就是犯困的时候。

Lindsay, takeaway for today is getting sleepy.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

咱们去睡个午觉吧。

Let's go take a nap.

Speaker 0

很高兴我们终于聊了这个话题。

I'm really glad we covered it.

Speaker 0

真没想到,两千六百多集了,我们居然从来没认真讨论过这个,虽然之前提过。

I'm surprised we haven't covered this topic in how many 2,600 episodes we've never talked about We talked

Speaker 1

以前聊过睡眠。

about sleep before.

Speaker 1

可能提过小睡,但像这样深入谈,确实没怎么有过。

We may have touched on napping, but this is certainly

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

至少最近几年我没印象我们聊过。

Not recently that I can think of.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

这其实特别棒,因为太有文化代表性了。

I mean, this is great because it's so cultural.

Speaker 0

这背后是有传统习惯的。

It's there are traditions.

Speaker 0

我们可以聊聊不同文化。

There are cultures we could talk about.

Speaker 0

这真是个很好的切入点,能谈一谈你和住在世界另一端的朋友之间在生活习惯上的差异。

This is truly a jumping off conversation where you could talk about cultural differences between you and your friend that lives in a whole other part of the world.

Speaker 0

还可以聊聊日常作息。

You could talk about daily habits.

Speaker 0

也能谈谈当今社会普遍存在的睡眠不足问题。

You could talk about sleep deprivation in today's culture.

Speaker 0

这里头能展开的内容太多了。

There's so much you could go into here.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

所以这才能成为引发共鸣的话题。

That's why it's a connection topic.

Speaker 1

是的,这个话题不错。

Yeah, that's a good one.

Speaker 1

所以说到这个,聊了这么多午睡的事,我都困了。

So anyway, on that note, all this nap talk is making me tired.

Speaker 0

可别在麦克风前睡着了。

Don't fall asleep on the microphone.

Speaker 0

对啊。

Yeah,

Speaker 1

那我来回答一下:你最奇怪的午睡地点是哪儿?

then I can answer the what's weirdest place you've taken a nap?

Speaker 1

我会说,天哪。

And I'll say, oh my god.

Speaker 1

就是在录节目时。

During an episode.

Speaker 1

真的。

No.

Speaker 0

好的,米歇尔。

Alright, Michelle.

Speaker 0

祝你今天愉快。

You have a good day.
