以1.7马赫的速度飞行,已经接到主要航空公司的130个订单。

Set to fly at Mach 1.7 with 130 orders from major airlines.

Speaker 0

Boom Supersonic的创始人和CEO——

The founder and CEO of Boom Supersonic-

Speaker 1

布莱克·肖尔。

Blake Scholl.

Speaker 2

波音已经20年没有造过新飞机了。

Boeing hasn't built a new airplane in 20 years.

Speaker 2

这是大卫和歌利亚的对决,但歌利亚在睡觉。

It's David and Goliath, but Goliath is asleep.

Speaker 1

我们在这里是为了恢复超音速客运旅行,最终让地球变得更容易接近。

We're here to bring back supersonic passenger travel, and ultimately, to make the planet dramatically more accessible.

Speaker 2

这整架飞机基本上是由50个人造出来的?

This whole airplane was built by essentially 50 people?

Speaker 1

由50个人。

By 50 people.

Speaker 1

一旦你成了专家,你满脑子都是过去,那你就完全没用了。

The moment you become an expert, what you're steeped in is the past, and then you're completely useless.

Speaker 1

勇气不是无所畏惧。

Courage is not being fearless.

Speaker 1

勇气是尽管害怕,仍然行动。

Courage is acting despite the fear.

Speaker 1

如果根本没有音爆,那就没什么好争论的了。

If there's no boom at all, there's nothing to argue about.

Speaker 1

世界需要超音速飞行。

The world needs supersonic flight.

Speaker 1

乘客值得拥有它。

Passengers deserve it.

Speaker 2

让我们欢迎布莱克·肖尔。

Please welcome Blake Scholl.

Speaker 1

早上好。

Good morning.

Speaker 1

休斯敦,我们遇到麻烦了。

Houston, we have a problem.

Speaker 1

1969年,我们登上了月球,还驾驶客机突破了音障。

In 1969, we landed on the Moon and we flew an airliner through the sound barrier.

Speaker 1

然而半个多世纪过去了,我们却去不了月球,也飞不过音速了。

Yet more than half a century later, we can't go to the Moon, and we can't fly faster than the speed of sound.

Speaker 1

协和式飞机的政治遗产,就是美国禁止超音速飞行。

The political legacy of Concorde was a ban on supersonic flight over the US.

Speaker 1

波音在1957年用707把我们带入了喷气时代,但快进到今天,他们最新的客机不过是第一架的碳纤维翻版。

Boeing brought us into the jet age in 1957 with the 707, but fast-forward to today, and their latest airliner is a literal carbon fiber copy of their first.

Speaker 1

顺便说一句,我们有些实习生出生时,波音还没推出新飞机呢,那还是2004年的事。

By the way, we have interns born after the last time Boeing launched a new airplane in 2004.

Speaker 1

这太疯狂了。

This is insane.

Speaker 1

但想象一下,如果飞行创新一直延续下去,会是另一番景象。

But imagine an alternate timeline in which innovation in flight had continued.

Speaker 1

如果我们能在三个半小时内穿越大西洋呢?

What if we could cross the Atlantic in three and a half hours?

Speaker 1

如果悉尼能像今天的檀香山一样方便到达呢?

What if Sydney were as accessible as Honolulu is today?

Speaker 1

那对商业、文化,甚至爱情会有什么影响?

What would that do for business, for culture, even for love?

Speaker 1

谁能解决这个问题?

Who could do something about this?

Speaker 1

十二年前,我还是一名软件工程师,在亚马逊和Groupon做广告相关的工作。

Twelve years ago, I was a software engineer and an ads guy from Amazon and Groupon.

Speaker 1

一个只有飞行员执照的人能解决这个问题,这个想法当时听起来很可笑。

The idea that somebody with nothing more than a pilot's license could do something about this seemed laughable.

Speaker 1

2015年,我向我以前的大老板杰夫·贝索斯推销Boom的种子轮融资,但他拒绝了。

In 2015, I pitched my old big boss, Jeff Bezos, on Boom's seed round, and he passed.

Speaker 1

然后他在2015年的亚马逊股东信里写了这些话。

And then he wrote this in the 2015 Amazon shareholder letter.

Speaker 1

有些事只有大公司才能做到。

"There are certain things that only large companies can do.

Speaker 1

不管你是多厉害的创业者,你都不可能在自己的车库里造出一架全复合材料的客机,至少不会是你想坐的那种。

No matter how good an entrepreneur you are, you're not going to build an all-composite airliner in your garage startup, not one that you'd want to fly on anyway."

Speaker 1

我听了这话有点不服气。

I took that a little personally.

Speaker 1

但我不怪杰夫。

But I don't blame Jeff.

Speaker 1

这就是我们当时的车库。

This is what our garage looked like back then.

Speaker 1

这其实是我们路演时的一张幻灯片。

And this was actually a slide from our pitch deck.

Speaker 1

那确实是用纸板、胶合板和从Office Depot买的座椅做成的超音速客机模型。

That is, in fact, a supersonic airliner mockup made from cardboard plywood and seats from Office Depot.

Speaker 1

但大事往往始于微末,快进到去年,Boom成了史上第一家造出超音速喷气式飞机的私人公司。

But big things often have humble beginnings, and fast-forward to last year, and Boom became the first private company ever to build a supersonic jet.

Speaker 1

那些大公司可能会动用几千人的项目,我们只靠50个非常投入的男女就完成了。

Something that the big companies would've put thousands of people on, we did with just 50 really dedicated men and women.

Speaker 1

当我们驾驶那架飞机飞行时,我们首次实现了星链的超音速安装,所以世界各地的人们都能通过星链观看用iPhone拍摄的视频直播,而我最喜欢的部分是人们从教室里发给我的照片。

And when we flew that airplane, we had the first supersonic installation of Starlink, so people around the world could tune in, watching video filmed on an iPhone, streamed via Starlink, and my favorite part was the pictures that people started sending me from classrooms.

Speaker 1

那些本来会对飞行不感兴趣的孩子,现在反而被吸引了。

Kids that would've tuned out on flight instead tuned in.

Speaker 1

有的孩子站了起来,有的甚至跳了起来。

Some of them stood up, and some of them even jumped up and down.

Speaker 1

是不是很棒?

Isn't that great?

Speaker 1

我敢保证,其中有一个就是未来的总工程师。

One of those is a future chief engineer, I guarantee it.

Speaker 1

现在,我想邀请你们和我一起重温那个时刻。

I'd like to invite you now to relive that moment with me.

Speaker 2

从基蒂霍克那个决定性的时刻起,我们就努力飞得更高更快。

From that fateful moment at Kitty Hawk, we strove to fly higher and faster.

Speaker 3

这位飞行员和这架飞机即将成为史上第一个飞得比音速还快的。

This pilot and this airplane are about to be the first ever to fly faster than the speed of sound.

Speaker 2

协和式飞机在1969年向我们展示了客运航班的未来。

Concorde showed us the future of passenger flight in 1969.

Speaker 2

但在2003年,我们失去了这一切。

In 2003, we lost all that.

Speaker 0

早上好。

Good morning.

Speaker 0

最后一次,英航协和2号-

For the last time, Speedbird Concorde 2-

Speaker 2

音障又回来了。

The sound barrier was back.

Speaker 2

但我们仍然是先驱者,人类总是渴望飞得更高。

But we are still pioneers, and humanity will always want to reach higher.

Speaker 2

小团队,大梦想。

The small team with a big dream.

Speaker 2

2025年,XB-1成为首架突破音障的私人研发喷气式飞机。

In 2025, XB-1 became the first privately developed jet to break the sound barrier.

Speaker 3

你可以进行尾部到1.1马赫的飞行。

You are go for a tail to Mach 1.1.

Speaker 2

但这次,我们证明了超音速飞行可以做到无音爆。

But this time, we demonstrated that supersonic flight could be boomless.

Speaker 2

而现在,音障可以继续保持被打破的状态。

And now, the sound barrier can stay broken.

Speaker 1

谢谢。

Thank you.

Speaker 1

我以为这会变得无聊,但永远不会。

I thought that would get old, but it never does.

Speaker 1

XB-1实际上使用了比其他人讨论的更简单的技术来解决音爆问题。

XB-1 uses actually a far simpler technique than others have talked about to solve sonic boom.

Speaker 1

我们称之为无音爆巡航,它利用大气层的自然折射力将音爆向上引导。

We call it boomless cruise, and it uses the natural refractive power of the atmosphere to redirect the sonic boom upwards.

Speaker 1

所以这就像,如果一棵树在森林里倒下,但没人听见,那它真的发出声音了吗?

So it's like if a tree falls in a forest, but no one was there to hear it, did it really make a sound?

Speaker 1

我们在突破音障后不久就和总统谈过,他也同意。

And we talked to the President shortly after breaking the sound barrier, and he agreed.

Speaker 1

如果没有音爆,就不应该禁止超音速飞行。

If there's no sonic boom, there should be no ban on supersonic flight.

Speaker 1

所以那个从1973年开始的禁令,实际上在去年6月6日就结束了。

So that ban that started in 1973 actually ended June 6th of last year.

Speaker 1

但这只是行政命令,理论上,某个白痴可能会推翻它,对吧?

But this was just an executive order, and theoretically, some idiot could reverse it, right?

Speaker 1

所以我们去找国会说:'你们应该让它永久化。'

So we went to Congress and we said, "You should make that permanent."

Speaker 1

然后《超音速合法化法案》在众议院通过了。

And the Supersonic Legalization Act passed the House.

Speaker 1

有人能猜到投票结果吗?

Anybody can guess what the vote was?

Speaker 1

其实是一致通过的。

It was actually unanimous.

Speaker 1

全票通过。

It's unanimous.

Speaker 1

最近参议院商务委员会也全票通过了,现在我们要让它在参议院其他部分通过,我觉得就应该全票通过,对吧?

And it got out of Senate Commerce unanimously recently, and now we have to get it through the rest of the Senate, and I think we should just do it unanimously, right?

Speaker 1

因为那太酷了。

Because that's badass.

Speaker 1

所以,好的。

So, okay.

Speaker 1

所以一切都在全速推进,对吧?

So it's all full speed ahead, right?

Speaker 1

我们很快就能期待超音速客运航班了。

And we get to look forward to supersonic passenger flight soon.

Speaker 1

但是等等,其实有个问题。

But wait, there was actually a problem.

Speaker 1

就在不久前,人们还宣称Boom已经完蛋了。

Not that long ago, people declared Boom dead.

Speaker 1

我做过最蠢的事情之一,就是试图把发动机研发外包给一家大公司,结果那个计划没成。

One of the dumbest things I ever did was try to outsource our engine development to a big old company, and that plan didn't work out.

Speaker 1

我们和罗尔斯·罗伊斯公开闹翻了,大家都说我们没救了。

And we broke up with Rolls-Royce very publicly, and people said we were doomed.

Speaker 1

所以我们决定做大家认为几乎不可能的事,自己从头造发动机,让它和飞机完美匹配。

So we decided to do the thing everyone said was really impossible, to make our own engine from scratch to pair perfectly with the airplane.

Speaker 1

结果证明,这个努力真的见效了。

Turns out that effort's actually working.

Speaker 1

我们不仅有机会自己造喷气发动机,还能用全球最先进的数字设计工具重新发明发动机的设计方式,并且用数字制造的力量改变实际的生产方式。

And we had an opportunity not just to build our own jet engine, but to reinvent how engines are designed with the world's most advanced digital design tools, and then to change how they're actually manufactured, also with the power of digital manufacturing.

Speaker 1

所以我们不只是自己设计发动机,不只是自己制造发动机,我们连涡轮叶片这样的发动机零件都自己做。

So we're not just designing our own engines, we're not just making our own engines, we're making our own engine parts down to the turbine blades.

Speaker 1

今天早上我就带了一个来。

I have one of those with me this morning.

Speaker 1

我女朋友当时就说:‘你口袋里揣的是涡轮叶片吗?还是说见到我太高兴了?’

My girl was like, "Is that a turbine blade in your pocket, or are you happy to see me?"

Speaker 1

所以我们的理念是,工程设计和制造必须紧密配合。

So our philosophy is that engineering and manufacturing have to work together.

Speaker 1

如果我们想推动美国制造业重新崛起,就得在这里研发下一代制造技术,并用它来打造令人惊叹的新产品,而不是仅仅试图把失去的东西从中国抢回来。

And if we want to re-industrialize America, we need to invent the next generation of manufacturing technology here and use that to build the most incredible new products, not just try to bring back what we lost to China.

Speaker 1

就在我们说话这会儿,我们的第一款垂直整合喷气发动机核心部件正在组装中,下个月就会上测试台。

So as we speak, our first vertically integrated jet engine core is getting assembled, and it's going to be in a test stand next month.

Speaker 1

所以事情开始变得相当令人兴奋了。

So things are starting to get pretty exciting.

Speaker 1

现在,历史开了个玩笑,大家原本以为会让我们倒闭的那件事——也就是没有大公司帮我们造发动机——结果反而让这家超音速初创公司具备了财务上的可行性。

Now, in a bizarre twist of history, the thing that everyone said would kill us, that we didn't have a big company make us an engine, actually turns out to be the thing that makes a supersonic startup financially viable.

Speaker 1

因为事实证明,如果我们把为在1.7马赫、高温环境下长时间满功率运行而设计的超音速发动机技术拿来,去掉前面的风扇,改在后面装一个发电机,它就能做到这一点。

Because it turns out if we take our supersonic engine technology that's designed to run full duration at high power in a hot environment at Mach 1.7, and we take the fan off the front and instead we put a generator in the back, it does this.

Speaker 1

所以我们的发动机第一个应用场景不是在天上,而是在地面,用于数据中心。

So our first application of our engine isn't in the sky, it's actually on the ground for data centers.

Speaker 1

我们可以把它装进几个拖车里,用这款专为高温运行设计的超音速发动机核心,在用户侧实现42兆瓦的发电,而且完全不需要用水。

And we can wrap this up in a couple trailers, and we can deploy 42 megawatts for behind the meter power generation with a supersonic engine core that's designed to run hot so it doesn't need any water.

Speaker 1

我想大家都知道缺水是个挺让人头疼的问题,那为什么不干脆让它不再是问题呢?

And I think we all know the water thing is kind of a objection, but why not make it go away?

Speaker 1

眼下,我们正在一个未公开的地点建造全球最先进的喷气涡轮工厂。

So as we speak, we are building, in an undisclosed location, the world's most advanced jet turbine factory.

Speaker 1

我们的理念跟那些老牌大公司截然相反,他们到处外包,还奉行什么净资产回报率那一套,结果连最核心的宝贝都拆出去卖了。

And our philosophy is the exact opposite of what you find at every legacy big company, with lots of outsourcing and a return on net assets philosophy that makes you spin out your crown jewels.

Speaker 1

所以我们要从零开始,用原材料大规模制造自己的发动机,先做成零件,包括最难的那些,比如叶片和静叶,然后组装起来,最后在自己的测试台上进行运转测试。

So we are manufacturing our own engines at scale, starting from raw materials, then going to the parts, including the most difficult ones, like blades and vanes, and then assembling them and then running on our own test stand.

Speaker 1

你们现在看到的这家工厂上周刚生产出第一批零件,之后产能会逐步提升,达到每年生产多个吉瓦的规模。

And the factory you're looking at here made its first parts last week, and it will scale to making multiple gigawatts per year.

Speaker 1

在未来五年里,我们的目标是为电网增加十多个吉瓦的装机容量。

And over the next five years, we aim to add 10 plus gigawatts to the grid.

Speaker 1

这意味着,作为未来的乘客,我们可以期待以超过音速的速度飞行,在水上速度翻倍,在陆地上快50%,而且没有音爆。这一切都建立在一款经过充分验证的新型喷气发动机之上,因为它先在陆地上得到了实际测试和证明。

What this means is, as future passengers, we get to look forward to flying faster than the speed of sound, twice as fast over water, 50% faster over land with no sonic boom, and doing it on what will actually be the most tested new jet engine ever made, thanks to being proven on the ground first.

Speaker 1

所以还有很多难题需要解决。

So there's still many hard problems to solve.

Speaker 1

成功不是必然的。

Success is not guaranteed.

Speaker 1

但我认为有很多理由对未来更快、更互联的世界以及美国在航空领域的领导地位感到兴奋。

But I think there's a lot of reason to be excited for a faster future, a more connected world, and American leadership in aviation.

Speaker 3

干得好,布莱克。

Nicely done, Blake.

Speaker 3

我们聊一会儿,你留在这里。

We're going to talk for a sec, so stay here.

Speaker 3

问你几个问题。

So a couple of questions for you.

Speaker 3

说真的,我们什么时候能坐上那架飞机?

Really, when can we get on that plane?

Speaker 3

要花多少钱?

How much will it cost?

Speaker 3

就两件很简单的事。

Two very simple things.

Speaker 3

我想要一个日期和一个数字。

I'm looking for a date and a number.

Speaker 1

日期和数字,对。

A date and a number, right.

Speaker 1

这是我最喜欢回答的问题了。

These are my favorite questions.

Speaker 1

不,我是说,那个——

No, I mean, the-

Speaker 3

我猜你的董事会偶尔也会问吧。

I'm sure your board asks once in a while.

Speaker 1

关于更快的飞行,大家都想要,只要它安全、舒适、价格合理。

The thing about faster flight is everybody wants it so long as it's safe, comfortable, and affordable.

Speaker 1

而协和式飞机在这三方面真的一个都没占。

And Concorde was really zero out of three.

Speaker 1

我们应该能做到三项全占。

And we should be able to do three out of three.

Speaker 1

那我给你数据。

So I'll give you the numbers.

Speaker 1

以1.7马赫的速度跨大西洋往返,三个半小时,盈亏平衡票价大约是3500美元。

Round trip across the Atlantic at Mach 1.7, three and a half hours, and the break-even fare is about $3,500.

Speaker 1

所以如果——

So if-

Speaker 3

单程吗?

Each way?

Speaker 1

往返。

Round trip.

Speaker 3

不会吧。

No.

Speaker 1

往返。

Round trip.

Speaker 3

那不可能。

That's not possible.

Speaker 1

那就是盈亏平衡点。

That's the break even.

Speaker 3

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 1

所以当然,价格可能会更高。

And so of course it will probably go for more than that.

Speaker 3

对,翻倍、三倍。

Yeah, double, triple.

Speaker 1

但超过那个价格的每一美元,美联航都能赚不少钱。

But any dollar above that, United's making some good money.

Speaker 3

好的,太棒了。

Okay, fantastic.

Speaker 1

那什么时候?

And when?

Speaker 1

我们的目标是四年。

Our goal is four years.

Speaker 1

但我觉得一路走来学到的是,速度比可预测性更重要。

But I think I've learned along the way is it's more important to be fast than to be predictable.

Speaker 1

那实际上要花多久呢?

So how long will it actually take?

Speaker 1

我不能确定地说,但我们正在尽可能快地推进,而且我们会确保在最早可能的时间点让它可用。

I can't say with certainty, but we're moving as fast as we can, and we'll make sure that it's available at the earliest date that it's physically possible.

Speaker 3

所以我们可能看到的是2030年,前后浮动,布莱克,而不是像埃隆那样的时间表。

So we're looking at potentially 2030, give or take Blake versus, say, Elon timing.

Speaker 3

所以当你在做不可能的神奇事情时,可能需要多花一点时间。

So when you're doing the impossible, magical thing, it can take a little extra.

Speaker 3

你一直说跨洋,但我的理解是,你早先在《本周创业》节目里说过几次,你是在让音爆消失,变成像音爆闷响或者音爆……砰之类的。

You keep talking about over oceans, but my understanding, you were on "This Week in Startups" a couple times early on, was that you're making it that the sonic boom is going to go away and become like a sonic thump or a sonic ... pow or something.

Speaker 3

那会小很多。

It's going to be a lot less

Speaker 1

其实,它听起来就像没有声音一样。

It's sonic nothing, actually.

Speaker 3

所以——

So-

Speaker 1

所以,人们用来减少音爆的技术有两种,我们用的是其中一种,我们称之为‘无音爆巡航’。

So there are two different techniques that people use for boom mitigation, and the one we're using, we call it boomless cruise.

Speaker 1

那些书呆子管它叫‘马赫截止’。

The nerds call it Mach cutoff.

Speaker 1

音爆从飞机上传来。

The boom comes off the airplane.

Speaker 1

它差不多是正常强度的音爆。

It's kind of a normal strength boom.

Speaker 1

它在天空中划出一个大大的U形转弯,永远不会落到地面上。

And it makes a big U-turn in the sky and never touches the ground.

Speaker 1

这适用于大约1.3马赫,也就是比我们现在的飞行速度快50%。

And that works up to about Mach 1.3 or 50% faster than how we can fly today.

Speaker 1

所以你不能全速无声飞行——

So you can't go full speed boomless-

Speaker 1

……但你仍然可以飞得足够快,比如早上9点从纽约出发,大约9点半就能降落在旧金山。

... but you could still go fast enough that you could leave New York, say, at 9:00 a.m. and land in San Francisco around 9:30 a.m.

Speaker 1

所以这仍然会非常棒。

So it's still going to be pretty great.

Speaker 1

然后在水面上,你可以全速飞行,但那里没有人会听到音爆。

And then over water, you can go full speed, but no one's there to hear a boom.

Speaker 3

这是关键。

This is the key.

Speaker 3

我想每个人都想知道从纽约到洛杉矶、旧金山的时间。

I think everybody wants to know the New York to Los Angeles, San Francisco time.

Speaker 3

数据中心项目进展如何?

How is the data center project going?

Speaker 3

这个产品已经有客户了吗?

Do you have customers for this product already?

Speaker 3

那有多少?

And how many?

Speaker 3

现在有多少收入?

How much is coming in?

Speaker 3

咱们来谈谈钱吧,因为正如贝索斯先生指出的,运行协和式飞机的建造非常昂贵。

Let's talk dollars here because running a build in the Concorde's quite expensive, as Mr. Bezos pointed out to you.

Speaker 3

但这看起来像是一台印钞机。

But this seems like a money-printing business.

Speaker 3

它是在印钱吗?

Is it printing money?

Speaker 1

这绝对是一台印钞机。

It's an incredible money-printing business.

Speaker 1

我这辈子从没见过任何东西有这么大的需求。

I've never seen demand like this for anything else in my life.

Speaker 3

有多少订单?

How many orders?

Speaker 3

告诉我们,你是拿到10个客户还是100个?

Give us, you get 10 customers or 100?

Speaker 1

我收到的需求有几十吉瓦。

There are tens of gigawatts of demand in my inbox.

Speaker 1

我们下个月就会启动第一台发动机,然后我们会把所有的都拍卖掉。

We're going to run that first engine next month, and then we're going to auction it all off.

Speaker 3

你跟埃隆谈过这件事吗?

Did you talk to Elon about it?

Speaker 3

他对“巨像”感兴趣吗?

Is he interested for the Colossus?

Speaker 1

你应该去问埃隆。

You should ask Elon.

Speaker 3

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 3

那就是答应了。

That's a yes.

Speaker 3

好的,够好了。

Okay, good enough.

Speaker 3

你有没有想过,作为一家航空公司的名字,Boom——

Do you ever think that as a name of a company for an airline, Boom- ...

Speaker 3

——会不会是在挑战命运?

might be tempting the fates?

Speaker 3

我给你提个建议。

I have a punch-up for you.

Speaker 3

叫Zoom怎么样?

How about Zoom?

Speaker 1

以前从来没人问过我这个问题。

No one's ever asked me about this before.

Speaker 1

不,就像“轰”的一声,你就到了。

No, it's like boom and you're there.

Speaker 1

挺有意思的。

It's fun.

Speaker 3

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 1

我们把公司叫做Boom,是因为我觉得音爆从来都不是问题所在,所以公司就叫Boom。

And we called the company Boom because I thought that the sonic boom was never going to be the blocker, and so Boom is the company.

Speaker 1

飞机叫Overture。

The airplane is Overture.

Speaker 1

我们想给公司起一个创新的品牌名,同时给飞机本身取一个真正有分量的名字。

We wanted an innovative brand for the company and something for the airplane itself that would have real gravitas.

Speaker 3

有些人可能会看着这个说:“2.0版本有没有可能出个私人航空的选择?”

There are some individuals who might look at this and say, "Any chance at a private aviation option in the 2.0?"

Speaker 3

跟湾流和猎鹰竞争,这生意好做吗?

Is that a good business for you to be in to compete with Gulfstream and Falcon?

我希望那些私人飞机的公司能造出超音速飞机。

I hope the private jet guys will make a supersonic jet.

Speaker 1

他们应该这么做。

They should.

Speaker 1

如果他们不做,我想那就我们来做。

If they don't, I guess we'll do it.

Speaker 3

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 1

不过我们来聊聊未来吧。

But let's talk about the future.

Speaker 1

我讲个故事。

I'll tell a story.

Speaker 1

我小女儿现在四岁半,她18个月大的时候,我们就一起看火箭视频。

So my youngest daughter, who's four and a half now, when she was 18 months old, we'd watch rocket videos.

Speaker 1

她两岁半的时候,我带她去看模型火箭,我这个人就是这样,买了个最小的火箭,然后装了个最大的D型发动机。

When she was two and a half, I took her to watch a model Estes rocket, and I'm just the person I am, so I get the smallest little rocket, and I put the big D motor in it.

Speaker 1

结果那火箭飞出去,最后挂在了三块田之外的树上。

And so that thing goes, and it ends up in a tree three fields over.

Speaker 1

我觉得挺酷的,但她不高兴了,我过了一会儿才反应过来她为什么不高兴——她以为火箭会飞回发射台。

And I thought it was pretty cool, but she was upset, and it took me a moment to realize why she was upset, which is she expected the rocket to come back to the pad.

Speaker 1

因为我这辈子除了跟她一起看火箭着陆的视频,什么都没干过。

Because I had done nothing but watch rocket landing videos with her literally her entire life.

Speaker 1

我意识到,对于超音速飞行来说,也有类似的情况。

And what I realized is for supersonic, there's an analogous thing.

Speaker 1

当我们让每一位乘客的飞行速度都提升时,我们就赢了——从超音速的空军一号上的总统,到超音速的私人飞机,再到各个舱位乘客都能乘坐的超音速商业航班。

We will have won when we've sped up flights for every passenger, from the president on a supersonic Air Force One to a supersonic private jet to supersonic commercial flights that are available to every class of passenger.

Speaker 1

所以,当你不得不让孩子们相信,以前横跨全国要花六个小时,而他们会说:“爸,你在说什么呢?

And so when you have to convince kids that it used to take six hours to cross the country, and they're like, "What are you talking about, Dad?

Speaker 1

谁会那么干啊?”

Who would even do that?"

Speaker 1

“如果去纽约要六个小时,那就不值得去。”——到那时候,我们就赢了。

"New York's not worth it if it takes six hours to get there," that's when we've won.

Speaker 1

这需要好几代飞机的更迭,但我们不会放弃。

And so that will take many generations of airplanes, but we're not giving up.

Speaker 3

太棒了。

Amazing.

Speaker 3

最后一个问题。

Final question.

Speaker 3

公司现在快成立10年了。

The company's now getting close to 10 years.

Speaker 1

实际上,是12年。

12, in fact.

Speaker 3

实际上,是12年。

12, in fact.

Speaker 3

好的,那很接近了。

Okay, so very close.

Speaker 3

你已经超过了。

You passed it.

Speaker 3

你不得不和好几届政府打交道。

You've had to work with multiple administrations.

Speaker 3

大多数时候这不是政治秀。

It's not a political show most of the time.

Speaker 3

当特朗普的支持率高的时候,这节目就变成政治秀了。

When Trump's ratings are high, it's a political show.

Speaker 3

如果支持率低了,我们就少聊点这个。

If they go low, we talk a little less about it.

Speaker 3

不过还是谢谢你。

But thank you.

Speaker 3

和上一届政府相比,这一届政府在接纳你们做的事情上怎么样?

How has this administration compared to the last one in terms of embracing what you're doing?

Speaker 3

因为你们能在监管方面这么快取得进展,这真的很让人兴奋,而且这对你们公司来说是个大问题。

Because this is pretty exciting that you've been able to make such quick inroads in terms of regulations, and that it's a big issue for your company specifically.

Speaker 1

首先,我觉得超音速飞行不是个党派问题,而且我们能一致通过国会,这真的很酷。

Well, first off, I think it's really cool that supersonic flight is not a partisan issue and that we're able to get stuff through Congress unanimously.

Speaker 1

不过话说回来,我喜欢这届政府办事的速度。

That said, I love how fast this administration moves.

Speaker 1

真的,我们周一就突破了音障。

Literally, we broke the sound barrier on Monday.

Speaker 1

我发了条推文。

I tweeted about it.

Speaker 1

埃隆转发了我的推文。

Elon reposted my tweet.

Speaker 1

我当晚就飞往华盛顿,开始推动合法化的活动。

I flew to DC that night to start the legalization campaign.

Speaker 1

我落地的时候,就已经收到了去白宫的邀请,所以那是周二的事。

By the time I landed, I had an invitation to the West Wing, so that's Tuesday.

Speaker 1

到了周四,我们的飞机模型已经进了椭圆办公室,而且顺便说一句,它现在还在那儿。

By Thursday, our airplane model has made it to the Oval Office, and by the way, it's still there.

Speaker 1

这真是史上最牛的植入广告之一。

It's one of the greatest product placements of all time.

Speaker 1

椭圆办公室里摆着一架超音速飞机模型。

There's a supersonic jet model in the Oval Office.

Speaker 1

我挺喜欢这个的。

I kind of love it.

Speaker 1

然后花了115天才签下行政命令。

And then it took 115 days to get the executive order signed.

Speaker 1

对我来说,这算慢了,但换一个政府可能花的时间更长。

To me, that felt slow, but it probably would've taken longer in a different administration.

Speaker 3

我觉得拜登会在你八年前给他打电话后的两到三周内给你回电话。

I think Biden's going to call you back in about two or three weeks from when you called him eight years ago.

Speaker 3

开个玩笑。

It's a joke.

Speaker 1

听起来挺快的。

Sounds fast.

Speaker 3

这是关于拜登的玩笑。

It's a Biden joke.

Speaker 3

好了,让我们再次为布莱克鼓掌。

All right, let's give it up for Blake one more time.

Speaker 1

好的。

All right.

Speaker 3

干得好。

Great job.
