Hello. I'm Emily Thomas with the BBC News. Japan's first woman prime minister, the conservative Sanae Takaiichi, has been naming members of her cabinet. Despite promising Nordic levels of female representation, she's only named two other women. Mariko Oi has been gauging reactions.
A lot of people that I would usually consider feminists, you know, they're not actually celebrating her appointment. One person saying, I've been longing. I've been waiting for that day when Japan has the first female prime minister, but Takaiji isn't just that. And that's partly because of her policies that are seen to be more kind of conservative. Also, comments from the past where she was seen to kind of object the use of word, for example, invasion, to describe what Japan did during the Second World War.
The World Food Programme says it still cannot deliver its daily target of supplies into Gaza because not all of the crossings are open. A spokesperson said only two crossings were functioning. From Geneva, here's Imogen Folks.
The World Food Programme is now delivering around seven and fifty tonnes of food a day to Gaza, far more than before the ceasefire, but far short of the 2,000 tonnes a day it says are necessary. No significant supplies have reached the north, where tens of thousands of people are thought to remain and famine has been declared. The distance from south to north is more than 30 kilometers. The roads are blocked with rubble and unexploded weapons. Frustratingly for the UN, its teams have cleared the shorter route from the northern crossings towards Gaza City, but Israel has not opened the border.

crowd of about a 100 who gathered outside mister Sarkozy's house in Paris, chanted their support as he and his wife, Karna Bruni, walked down to the car that then took him the short way across town to La Sante Prison. The former president is now going through the routine of any normal prisoner, being interviewed by the prison director, receiving his bedding and crockery, getting a prison ID card. He's in an 11 square meter cell in the isolation section in which he'll spend all his time apart from an hour a day of solitary exercise. His sentence is five years, but already his lawyers have lodged an appeal for early release.

A drone attack has hit an area near Khartoum International Airport in Sudan. In Ukraine, hundreds of thousands of residents in the northern city of Chernihiv have been left without power and water following intense overnight strikes by Russia. Ballistic missiles and waves of explosive drones hit electricity infrastructure supplying the city and much of the surrounding region.

Jorayd Sintula denies trying to kill Mr. Fizo, saying he deliberately aimed away from his head and vital organs. Sarah Rainsford reports.

Now the gunman has been found guilty of terrorism and sentenced to twenty one years in prison.
