Speaker 2

嘿,Lindsay。

Hey, Lindsay.

Speaker 2

你好吗?

How are you?

Speaker 2

我还行,米歇尔。

I'm doing alright, Michelle.

Speaker 2

你呢?

How about you?

Speaker 2

我挺好的。

I'm doing well.

Speaker 2

我挺好的。

I'm doing well.

Speaker 2

还不错,没什么可抱怨的。

Not too can't complain.

Speaker 2

没什么可

Can't

Speaker 1

抱怨的?

complain?

Speaker 1

那挺好的。

That's good.

Speaker 2

太棒了。

Awesome.

Speaker 2

所以,各位,我们最近刚做了一期关于失物招领的节目。

So, guys, we did an episode just recently about Lost and Found.

Speaker 2

那今天呢,我们想聊聊另外两个词,give 和 take。

So today, we wanna talk about two other words, give and take.

Speaker 2

我喜欢这个想法。

I like that idea.

Speaker 1

Give 和 take 在英语里是非常常见的动词,对吧,所以很适合在这里练一练。

Give and take are very common verbs, right, in the English language, so good ones to work on here.

Speaker 2

太棒了。

Awesome.

Speaker 2

对,基本上我们就是做这个的。

So, yeah, that's basically what we're doing.

Speaker 2

今天我们要用这个来聊一聊工作。

And we're gonna use this to talk about jobs today.

Speaker 2

那你在工作中怎么用give和take呢?

So how can you use give and take at work?

Speaker 2

问得好。

Good question.

Speaker 2

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 2

但你要小心,因为你得考虑你所在公司的文化。

But you have to be careful because you have to think about the culture of the company you're working for.

Speaker 2

所以有些说法可能合适,有些可能不合适,这取决于你们公司的文化,因为有些说法比较随意,或者可能带点讽刺意味。

So some of these may be appropriate and some of these may not be appropriate depending on your company culture because some of these are a little bit more casual or a little bit more maybe sarcastic in a way.

Speaker 2

但你得注意,别在非常正式的场合一直用这些。

But you just wanna be careful that you aren't using these all the time in, like, very formal situations.

Speaker 2

如果你的办公室氛围比较正式,你知道的,用这些短语的时候可能就得小心一点。

If your office is more formal, you know, you might wanna be careful with some of these phrases.

Speaker 2

明白了吗?

Okay?

Speaker 2

好建议,米歇尔。

Good tip, Michelle.

Speaker 2

我喜欢这个。

I like it.

Speaker 2

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 2

行。

Alright.

Speaker 2

所以我们有一些带give的短语,也有一些带take的短语。

So we have some phrases with give, and we have some phrases with take.

Speaker 2

对吧?

Alright?

Speaker 2

准备好了吗?

Are you ready?

Speaker 2

我准备好了。

I am.

Speaker 2

你呢?

Are you?

Speaker 2

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 2

我准备好了。

I am ready.

Speaker 2

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 2

那么第一个是什么,Lindsay?

So the first one is what is it, Lindsay?

Speaker 1

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 1

就是这个。

So here it is.

Speaker 1

歇会儿吧。

Give it a rest.

Speaker 2

歇会儿吧。

Give it a rest.

Speaker 2

这句话在工作内外都能用。

And you can use this outside of work or in work.

Speaker 2

但再说一次,得看场合合不合适。

But again, it has to really be appropriate.

Speaker 2

所以它可能有点不礼貌。

So it could be kind of rude.

Speaker 2

你可以跟朋友开玩笑时用。

You could use it with a friend as a joke.

Speaker 2

比如,我可以对我那个所谓的朋友说,他老是不停地吃薯条,就说“歇会儿吧”。

Like, for example, I could say to my friend who, like, will my friend, quote, unquote, who won't stop eating french fries, give it a rest.

Speaker 2

就像说“够了”一样。

Like, enough.

Speaker 2

你懂吧?

You know?

Speaker 1

你得跟那个人非常熟、关系很近,才能这么说,因为如果对老板说这种话,确实有点不礼貌。

It has to be you have to be very familiar with the person and close to them, you know, to be able to talk to them because it's it is kind of rude if you say it to a boss.

Speaker 1

就是不能那么说。

You just can't.

Speaker 1

太随意了。

It's too casual.

Speaker 2

你得特别小心。

You wanna just be really careful.

Speaker 2

所以这个表达适合那种,怎么说呢,可能更像创业公司那种氛围,团队很小,可能都是你的好朋友之类的。

So this would be for, like, that super, you know, maybe even more like a startup type feeling where you have a small team, maybe the people are your close friends, things like that.

Speaker 2

我们之后会给你更多例子。

We'll give you more examples later.

Speaker 2

完全同意,Michelle。

Totally, Michelle.

Speaker 2

那第二个是什么?

And the second one is?

Speaker 2

给我点提示。

Give me a clue.

Speaker 1

所以那意思是,比如说,告诉我,给我点提示?

So does that mean, like, like, tell me give me a hint?

Speaker 1

就像,给我点线索?

Like, give me a clue?

Speaker 2

给我点提示。

Give me a clue.

Speaker 2

就像,你是什么意思,你想表达什么?

Like, what are you, like, what are you getting at here?

Speaker 2

你在说什么?

What are you talking about?

Speaker 2

重点是什么?

What's the main point?

Speaker 1

我喜欢这个。

I like that.

Speaker 2

说得好。

Good one.

Speaker 2

谢谢。

Thank you.

Speaker 2

接下来一个是“给我一点时间”。

And then the next one we have is give me a second.

Speaker 2

给我一点时间。

Give me a second.

Speaker 2

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 2

这个也要小心。

Also be careful with this.

Speaker 2

要看具体语境。

It depends on the context.

Speaker 2

这取决于你跟谁用这句话。

It depends on who you use it with.

Speaker 2

这算是个争取点额外时间的好办法。

Kind of a good way to get some extra time with something.

Speaker 1

这个非常随意,但我们得小心,因为如果你的老板来敲你办公室的门,说,哦,我想跟你谈谈。

This one is super casuals, but we gotta be careful because if your boss comes and knocks on your door in your in your office and says, oh, I'd like to speak with you.

Speaker 1

你知道,如果是在非常正式的职场,你不能说,给我一秒钟。

You know, if it's a very formal workplace, you can't say, give me a second.

Speaker 1

就给我一秒钟。

Just give me a second.

Speaker 1

这对老板来说太随意了。

It's way too casual for your boss.

Speaker 1

但有时候你也可以这么说,比如你跟老板关系很亲近,或者你在一个年轻的公司,你可能能这么说,但还是要小心。

But sometimes you could, you know, if you have a close relationship with your boss or you're in a young company, you might be able to say that, but just be careful.

Speaker 2

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 2

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 2

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 2

很好。

Good.

Speaker 2

那我们继续讲下一个短语吧。

So let's move on to take.

Speaker 2

所以“take a hint”在某些情况下也可能显得不礼貌,但换个方式说,其实也不会。

So take a hint can also be rude depending on the context, but in a certain way, it it isn't.

Speaker 2

比如说,你可以说,哦,我觉得我们应该从竞争对手的做法中吸取一些暗示,看看他们是怎么做的,好为将来找些灵感之类的。

Like, so for example, you could say, oh, I think we should take a hint by what our competitors take a hint about whatever our competitors are doing to get ideas for the future or something like that.

Speaker 1

或者我喜欢用“take a hint”来表达别人在暗示你什么。

Or I like to use take a hint in the sense of, like, people are trying to tell you something.

Speaker 1

但你没领会到。

But you're not picking it up.

Speaker 1

比如,哦,这个人就是不懂别人的暗示。

Like, oh, this person can't take a hint.

Speaker 1

你懂吧?

You know?

Speaker 1

我们一直在暗示说,该走了,但那个人就是想在酒吧多待一会儿之类的。

We keep on suggesting that, you know, it's time to go, but the person wants to stay at the bar or something like that.

Speaker 2

你懂吧?

You know?

Speaker 2

对,没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 2

下一个是什么,Lindsay?

The next one is what, Lindsay?

Speaker 2

Take a chance。

Take a chance.

Speaker 2

那是什么意思?

So what is that?

Speaker 2

所以,去冒

So to take

Speaker 1

险,去冒险,对吧,就是做一些有风险的事情,去碰碰运气。比如在工作中,我们可以说,哦,我们打算在这个人身上赌一把,雇他,但我们不知道他是不是这份工作的合适人选,但我们还是要碰碰运气。

a risk to take a risk, right, to do something that's risky, to take a chance like, we could say at work, for example, oh, we're gonna take a chance on this person and hire them, but we don't know if they're the right person for the job, but we're gonna take a chance.

Speaker 2

哦,太好了。

Oh, excellent.

Speaker 2

太好了。

Excellent.

Speaker 2

完美。

Perfect.

Speaker 2

然后我们还有几个。

And then we have a couple more.

Speaker 2

所以我们有“take a second”。

So we have take a second.

Speaker 2

所以我们之前说了“give me a second”和“take a second”。

So we did give me a second and take a second.

Speaker 2

那有什么区别呢?

So what's the difference?

Speaker 1

嗯,我可能会在要短暂休息一下的时候用这个。

Well, I would use this maybe when I'm gonna take a quick break.

Speaker 1

take这个词到处都在出现。

Take take is coming up everywhere.

Speaker 1

我要稍微休息一下。

I'm gonna take a quick break.

Speaker 1

比如,哦,我要花点时间去喝杯咖啡。

Like, oh, I'm gonna take a second and just grab a coffee.

Speaker 1

我要出去一下。

I'm gonna step out for a second.

Speaker 1

你知道,我需要一点时间。

You know, I need some time.

Speaker 1

让我花点时间想想。

Let me take a second to think.

Speaker 1

所以像这些,都是表达花点时间的方式。

So things like this, like ways of taking time.

Speaker 2

或者你也可以告诉别人花点时间去做某件事。

Or you could be telling someone to take a second to do something.

Speaker 1

你能花点时间帮我处理一下这个吗?

Could you take second and help me out with this?

Speaker 2

或者你能不能花点时间想想这件事?

Or could you, like, take a second to think about it?

Speaker 1

我喜欢这个。

I like that.

Speaker 2

不错。

Cool.

Speaker 2

最后,我们还有“take your time”这个表达。

And then finally, we have take your time.

Speaker 1

慢慢来。

Take your time.

Speaker 1

就是别着急。

Like, don't rush.

Speaker 1

你懂吧?

You know?

Speaker 1

我喜欢这个说法,欲速则不达。

I like that expression, haste makes waste.

Speaker 2

哦,我喜欢这个。

Oh, I like that.

Speaker 2

这个不错。

That's good.

Speaker 1

这有点像八十年代的说法,但欲速则不达。

That was kind of like an eighties expression, but haste makes waste.

Speaker 1

我觉得这句话总是对的。

I find that that's always true.

Speaker 1

你知道吗,如果我们匆匆忙忙地做事,最后反而会花更多时间,因为出错后还得回头重做。

You know, we end up taking more time if we rush through things because we have to go back and do them again because we've made mistakes.

Speaker 1

你知道吗?

You know?

Speaker 1

所以慢慢来。

So take your time.

Speaker 2

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 2

是的。

So yeah.

Speaker 2

再说一次,各位,这一切都归结于公司文化。

Again, guys, this all goes back to the company culture.

Speaker 2

你处于那种可以用更随意语言交流的环境吗?

Are you in this kind of situation where you can kind of throw around, you know, more casual language?

Speaker 2

还是不是?

Or are you not?

Speaker 2

你真的得好好想想,注意办公室里其他人是怎么做的。

And you really have to think about it, you know, pay attention to what other people in your office are doing.

Speaker 1

对。

Exactly.

Speaker 1

先从观察开始吧,你知道,当你刚来的时候,也许你刚从自己的国家过来,你在公司里是新人,你得花点时间。

Start by observing, you know, when you're new and maybe you just came over from your country, you're new in your company, you have to take some time.

Speaker 1

花点时间,观察一下公司文化,先退一步看看。

Take your time and observe the culture and sit back.

Speaker 1

不急着马上加入对话是没关系的。

It's okay to not jump into conversations right away.

Speaker 1

看看大家是怎么互动的,然后你就能决定自己需要多随意或多正式。

See how people interact with each other, and then you can decide how casual or formal you need to be.

Speaker 2

对。

Exactly.

Speaker 2

这真的很重要。

That's really important.

Speaker 2

所以,别忘了这么做,因为就像我们说的,你需要从职场里的其他人那里得到提示,看看情况是怎样的。

So don't, you know, don't forget to do that because, like we said, you need to take a hint from the other people in the workplace to see what's going on.

Speaker 2

我该怎么和同事建立联系呢?

How am I gonna connect to people at work?

Speaker 2

哪些话我可以对谁说?

Who can I say certain things to?

Speaker 2

也许你和老板关系特别好。

May maybe you're really close friends with your boss.

Speaker 2

你懂吧?

You know?

Speaker 2

确实有这种情况,尤其是在那种小创业公司里,大家和老板关系很铁,说话可以随便一点。

People do have these situations, like, especially, I think, in a small startup type thing where they're, you know, really close friends with their boss and they can be a little bit more free with what they say.

Speaker 2

但你在冒险之前,一定要先确认这样没问题。

But you you definitely you wanna make sure that that's okay before you, you know, take any chances.

Speaker 1

关键是要主动。

It's all about take.

Speaker 1

主动、主动、再主动。

Take take take.

Speaker 2

付出付出付出,然后索取。

Give give give and take.

Speaker 2

索取和付出。

Take and give.

Speaker 2

付出和索取。

Give and take.

Speaker 2

付出和索取。

Give and take.

Speaker 1

你得有付出有索取。

You have to give and take.

Speaker 1

一段好的关系,不管是生意上还是其他方面,总是建立在付出和索取之上的。

In a good relationship, business or otherwise, is always based on give and take.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 2

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 2

太棒了。

Awesome.

Speaker 2

好的。

Alright.

Speaker 2

那我们要不要试试看?

So should we should we give it a try?

Speaker 1

米歇尔,今天这个角色扮演是什么情况?

What's happening in this role play today, Michelle?

Speaker 2

好的,林赛。

Okay, Lindsay.

Speaker 2

我们现在是在开会,气氛比较轻松随意一些。

So we are in a meeting here, and we're kind of a little bit more casual here.

Speaker 2

然后我们在开会讨论事情,而你……

And, so we're in a meeting, and we're discussing things, and you

Speaker 1

用你的母语说话时,你是有个性的。

In your first language, you have personality.

Speaker 1

你会开玩笑,会打断别人,也会反驳。

You joke, you interrupt, you push back.

Speaker 1

但用英语的时候,你可能会觉得自己变小了,变得更谨慎,表达也不如真实的自己那么丰富。

But in English, you might feel smaller, more careful, less expressive than you really are.

Speaker 1

如果英语让你感觉自己的个性被过滤掉了,那可能是时候弄清楚原因了。

If English feels like it's filtering your personality, it may be time to understand why.

Speaker 1

我们免费的2分钟流利度测试能帮你看到是什么阻碍了你自由、自然地进行交流。

Our free two minute fluency quiz helps you see what's holding you back from speaking freely and naturally and connecting.

Speaker 1

另外,你还能知道自己的当前英语水平。

Plus, you get your current English level.

是B1、B2还是C1?

Is it b one, b two, or c one?

现在就去 allearsenglish.com/fluencyscore 参加测试。

Speaker 2

你会让我,嗯,就是,稍微展示一下东西。

You're going to ask me to, you know, like, kind of present something a little bit.

Speaker 1

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 1

来吧。

Let's do it.

Speaker 1

开始了。

Here we go.

Speaker 1

你会看到的。

So you'll see.

Speaker 2

你会看到的。

You'll see.

Speaker 2

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 2

我们开始吧。

Here we go.

Speaker 1

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 1

那我们来看一些数据,这些数据应该能让我们了解客户对最新产品的看法。

So we're gonna look at some figures that should give us a clue as to how our customers feel about the newest product.

Speaker 2

你觉得呢,米歇尔?

What say you, Michelle?

Speaker 2

谢谢,林赛。

Thanks, Lindsay.

Speaker 2

哦,抱歉。

Oh, sorry.

Speaker 2

抱歉。

Sorry.

Speaker 2

给我一点时间。

Give me a second.

Speaker 2

我正在调取这些信息。

I'm pulling up the information.

Speaker 2

好的。

Sure.

Speaker 2

慢慢来。

Take your time.

Speaker 2

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 2

我们开始吧。

Here we go.

Speaker 2

各位,让我们花点时间想想,这家公司从创立之初到现在发生了哪些变化。

Everyone, let's take a second to think about how this company has changed from the beginning.

Speaker 2

看看我手上的这些数据,似乎当我们冒险推出第二代产品时,客户们是很满意的。

Looking at these figures I have here, it seems, our customers were happy when we took a chance and came out with the second edition of our product.

Speaker 2

我们的销售额一下子飙升了。

Our sales went through the roof.

Speaker 1

太好了。

Excellent.

Speaker 1

很明显,我们应该从中得到启发,经常更新我们的产品。

Clearly, we should take a hint and continue to revamp our product often.

Speaker 1

我同意。

I agree.

Speaker 1

那我们就全力以赴,

So let's give

Speaker 2

把第三版做好。

it our best shot for version three.

Speaker 1

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 1

今天就到这里吧。

We're done here.

Speaker 1

我们休息一下吧。

Let's give it a rest.

Speaker 1

大家回家吧。

Go home, everyone.

Speaker 2

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 2

会议真短。

Very short meeting.

Speaker 1

这里的会议主持人有点古怪。

It's kind of a quirky meeting leader here.

Speaker 1

我说,你觉得怎么样,米歇尔?

I said, what say you, Michelle?

Speaker 2

其实,那是个有点额外的短语。

Actually, that's kind of a little bonus phrase.

Speaker 2

我到处都听到这句话。

I've been hearing that everywhere.

Speaker 2

真的吗?

Really?

Speaker 1

我还没听过这个说法。

I have not heard that.

Speaker 1

真有意思。

That's so interesting.

Speaker 2

我以前从来没听过,现在开始听到了。

I had never heard it, and now I'm starting to hear it.

Speaker 2

我也不知道怎么回事。

And I I don't know what's going on.

Speaker 2

我是说,我主要是在电视上听到的。

I mean, I've really heard it mostly on TV.

Speaker 1

有意思。

Interesting.

Speaker 2

但以前真没听过,现在到处都能听到。

But I had never heard it before, and now I'm hearing it all around.

Speaker 1

那你在纽约周围听到过吗?

So Have you have you heard it around New York?

Speaker 2

没有。

No.

Speaker 2

不太多,但我在电视上听过。

Not so much, but like, I've heard it on TV.

Speaker 2

所以理解它是件好事,而且我有种感觉,它会慢慢渗透到更多人的对话中。

So it's a good thing to understand, and I and I have a feeling that it's gonna creep its way into more people's conversation.

Speaker 2

这只是我的猜测。

That's just my guess.

Speaker 1

确实,事情就是这样。

I mean, that's what happens.

Speaker 1

词典是动态的。

The die the dictionary's dynamic.

Speaker 1

你知道,新短语一直在被添加进来。

You know, we you know, new phrases are added all the time.

Speaker 1

我刚读到韦氏词典正在添加一堆新短语,比如FOMO和TMI,这些现在都被收录进词典了。

I was just reading how Merriam Webster was just adding a bunch of new phrases, things like FOMO and TMI, and those are being added to the dictionary now.

Speaker 1

你

You

Speaker 2

知道吗?

know?

Speaker 2

所以我不知道这个“what say you”是从哪儿来的,但它基本上就是“你怎么看?”的意思。

So I don't know where this what say you came from, but it basically just means like, what do you think?

Speaker 2

这是一种挺可爱的说法,表示“你觉得呢?”。

It's kind of a cute way of saying, what do you think?

Speaker 1

就像是“你说呢?”

It's like, what do you say?

Speaker 1

就是“what say you?”

Just what say you?

Speaker 2

我不知道

I don't know

Speaker 1

为什么。

why.

Speaker 1

那个的语调应该是什么样的?

What's the intonation supposed to be for that?

Speaker 1

我不太知道该怎么读。

I didn't really know how to.

Speaker 1

我觉得应该是,你怎么看,米歇尔?

I think it's like, what say you, Michelle?

Speaker 1

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 1

有意思。

Interesting.

Speaker 2

你怎么看?

What say you?

Speaker 1

所以你们不一定非要用这个,但得准备好遇到它。

So you guys don't you don't have to use that, but just be ready for it.

Speaker 1

明白吗?

You know?

Speaker 1

你可能会听到。

You might hear it.

Speaker 2

你可能会听到。

You might hear it.

Speaker 2

而且很明显,这不是——我不会说这是最符合语法的说法。

And obviously, it's not a I wouldn't say it's the most grammatically correct phrase.

Speaker 1

嗯,听起来像是会在莎士比亚戏剧里用到的那种话。

Well, it sounds like it would be something that would be used, like, in a Shakespearean play.

Speaker 1

在莎士比亚戏剧的那个年代,就像我们读过的那些东西。

Way back in the times of, you know, Shakespeare's plays, like, something we would have read.

Speaker 1

什么是“你”?

What's a you?

Speaker 2

你知道吗,这挺有趣的,因为我听到的时候,我觉得更像是——我是说,是的,我能理解你为什么这么说。

You know, makes It's funny because when I hear it, I think it's more I mean, yeah, I can see why you said that.

Speaker 2

但当我听到它,比如在周围听到的时候,我觉得它听起来更像是随意的、可爱的。

But when I hear it, like, around, I I think it sounds more, like, casual and cutesy.

Speaker 1

哦,哇。

Oh, wow.

Speaker 1

有意思。

Interesting.

Speaker 2

我不知道。

I don't know.

Speaker 2

那咱们看看。

So let's see.

Speaker 2

我不知道。

I don't know.

Speaker 2

我猜这会是个新短语,一个更大的新短语,但我不确定。

I have I have a guess that this is gonna be a new phrase, like a new bigger phrase, but I don't know.

Speaker 1

也许我……不过这个还没定论。

Maybe I'm The jury's still out on that, though.

Speaker 2

还没定论。

The jury's still out.

Speaker 2

好的。

Alright.

Speaker 2

我们来看看我们用的这些短语吧。

Let's give let's take a look at the phrases that we use.

Speaker 2

第一个是,你说我们要看一些数据,这些数据应该能让我们了解客户对最新产品的感受。

So the first one is, you said we are going to look at some figures that should give us a clue as to how our customers feel about the newest product.

Speaker 1

然后我说,抱歉。

And then I said, sorry.

Speaker 1

给我一点时间。

Give me a second.

Speaker 1

或者你说,抱歉。

Or you said, sorry.

Speaker 1

给我一点时间。

Give me a second.

Speaker 2

这样是可以的。

And that was okay.

Speaker 2

就像我刚才在翻资料,从文件夹里把信息拿出来,这没什么问题。

Like, I was just kind of pulling up the information, getting it out of my folder, and that's okay.

Speaker 2

我的意思是,虽然有点随意,但我觉得这没什么不对的。

I mean, it's casual, but it's I mean, I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

Speaker 2

就是说,那只是拖延时间的一种说法,并不是真的说“给我一秒钟”。

I mean, it said in a very just stalling for time way, not like, give me a second.

Speaker 2

你明白吗?

You know?

Speaker 1

哦,对。

Oh, yeah.

Speaker 1

没问题。

It's fine.

Speaker 1

我觉得这完全取决于上下文。

I mean, I think it's all about context.

Speaker 1

所以我们的听众真的需要在工作会议中保持专注,理解什么可以,什么不可以。

So our listeners really have to be present in their meetings at work and understand what's okay and what's not.

Speaker 1

就是去感受一下别人对你的反应。

Just get get a sense of how people are reacting towards you.

Speaker 1

他们是不是特别着急地在等你?

Are they very, like, very much waiting for you?

Speaker 1

他们是不是不耐烦?

Are they impatient?

Speaker 1

那如果你说“给我一点时间”,他们可能会觉得挺烦的。

Then maybe if you said give me a second, it would be frustrating for them.

Speaker 2

然后你人很好,你说“当然可以”。

So and then you were very nice, you said, sure.

Speaker 2

慢慢来。

Take your time.

Speaker 1

我确实这么说了。

I did.

Speaker 1

没错。

That's true.

Speaker 1

然后你说,好的。

And then you said, okay.

Speaker 1

我们花点时间。

Let's take a second.

Speaker 1

来想想这个

To think about how the

Speaker 2

公司,那个什么

company Blah

Speaker 1

什么的。

blah blah.

Speaker 2

从一开始到现在有什么变化。

Has changed from the beginning.

Speaker 2

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 2

然后我说,看起来我们的,哦。

And I said it looks like our oh.

Speaker 2

你说了声“嗯”。

You said mhmm.

Speaker 2

我们在Catalina的客户当时是很满意的。

Our customers were happy at Catalina.

Speaker 2

但当我们冒险推出了产品的第二版时。

But when we when we took a chance and came out with a second edition of our product.

Speaker 1

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 1

所以我就说,很明显,我们应该从中吸取教训。

So then I said, clearly, we should take a hint.

Speaker 1

吸取教训,对吧,从那次经历中,然后经常改进我们的产品。

Take a hint, right, from that experience and revamp our product often.

Speaker 2

然后我说,那我们就全力以赴吧。

And then I said, so let's give it our best shot.

Speaker 2

我觉得这个我们还没讨论过。

I don't think we went over this one.

Speaker 2

我觉得有点,啊,是的。

I think it's somehow ah, yes.

Speaker 2

它不见了。

It went missing.

Speaker 2

全力以赴吧。

Give it our best shot.

Speaker 2

那是什么意思?

So what does that mean?

Speaker 2

全力以赴是什么意思?

To give something your best shot?

Speaker 1

让我们全力以赴吧。

Let's give it our best shot.

Speaker 1

我们尽力而为。

Let's do the best we can.

Speaker 2

对。

Exactly.

Speaker 2

对。

Exactly.

Speaker 2

所以,各位,这又是一个关于“give”的表达。

So that's another one, guys, with give.

Speaker 2

然后最后,你用一种挺搞笑、很随意的语气结束了会议。

And then finally, you ended the meeting, you know, in kind of a funny funny way, very casually.

Speaker 2

你说:“咱们歇会儿吧。”

You said, let's give it a rest.

Speaker 2

大家回家吧。

Go home, everyone.

Speaker 1

我对“give it a rest”的另一种理解是,比如有人在做很烦人的事,你可能会对青少年说这种话。

Another way that I think about give it a rest is, like, if someone's doing something annoying, you know, you might say that to, like, a teenager.

Speaker 1

拜托。

Come on.

Speaker 1

消停会儿吧。

Give it a rest.

Speaker 1

就像,停下来,别再用头撞墙了。

Like, stop stop, like, banging your head on the Right.

Speaker 2

撞门或者什么的。

On the door or something.

Speaker 2

还有一个额外的短语。

And one little bonus phrase.

Speaker 2

你说,嗯,让我想想。

You said well, let's see.

Speaker 2

哦,对。

Oh, yes.

Speaker 2

我说了。

I said it.

Speaker 2

我们的销售额飙升了。

Our sales went through the roof.

Speaker 1

飙升了。

Through the roof.

Speaker 1

哦,非常好。

Oh, very good.

Speaker 1

非常好。

Very good.

Speaker 1

这是个好兆头。

That's a good sign.

Speaker 1

这是件好事。

That's a good thing.

Speaker 2

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 2

销售额非常高。

Very high sales.

Speaker 2

总之,各位,这些是你们可以在给予和接受时使用的一些好短语。

Anyway, so guys, these are some good phrases you can use with give and take.

Speaker 2

但再说一次,最重要的是要小心,观察别人在做什么,听他们说什么,看看你们公司的文化是什么样的。

But, again, the most important thing, be careful, observe what other people are doing, listen to what they say, and see what is the culture of your company.

Speaker 2

对。

And yeah.

Speaker 2

但这些确实是一些很实用的表达。

But these can be some really useful phrases.

Speaker 1

你说得对,米歇尔。

You got it, Michelle.

Speaker 1

就是这样。

That's it.
