嘿,Lindsay。

Hey, Lindsay.

Speaker 0

你最近怎么样?

How are doing?

Speaker 1

挺好的,Aubrey。

Good, Aubrey.

Speaker 1

你呢?

How are you?

Speaker 1

最近过得怎么样?

How's it going?

Speaker 0

非常好。

Excellent.

Speaker 0

我们今天要聊聊商务着装,也就是衣服。

We are talking about business attire today, Clothing.

Speaker 0

特别是有些词可能带有性别色彩,或者专门针对某一性别,还有一些很好的中性选项。

Especially some words that can be gendered or specific for one gender or the other and some great options that are gender neutral.

Speaker 0

林赛,你觉得呢,你的工作风格是什么样的?

Would you say, Lindsay, what is your work style?

Speaker 1

天哪。

Oh my gosh.

Speaker 1

嗯,在家工作的时候,我穿得很随意,尤其是如果没有会议或者要见学生的话。

Well, when I work from home, I'm very casual, especially if I don't have any meetings or meeting with students or anything.

Speaker 1

但去参加学术会议的时候,我喜欢穿西装外套配运动鞋。

But when I go to a conference, I like to wear like a blazer and sneakers.

Speaker 1

所以挺休闲的,但我觉得,嗯,可能还是整洁利落的那种。

So pretty casual, but I I'd say, like, probably neat neat and tidy.

Speaker 1

就是合身的衣服。

Like, fitted clothing.

Speaker 1

我喜欢衣服穿起来合身。

I like to have my clothes fit well.

Speaker 1

我不喜欢宽松的,就算流行也不喜欢,不喜欢穿那种松松垮垮的。

I don't like loose even if it's in style, don't like to wear loose baggy things.

Speaker 0

对,你的风格就是整洁利落。

Yeah, you're like, my style is neat and tidy.

Speaker 0

整整齐齐的。

Tidy tidy.

Speaker 1

没错。

That's it.

Speaker 1

那你呢,Aubrey?

What about you Aubrey?

Speaker 0

嗯,我觉得我穿得正式的时候,就是录课程的时候。

What's Well, your I'm gonna say when I dress up, it's when we're recording for a course.

Speaker 0

如果你报名过我们的任何课程,可能会看到我们穿西装外套和带领子的衬衫,因为我想看起来更专业一点。

If any of you have signed up for any of our courses, you might see us in a blazer and a, collared shirt because I'm trying to look a little more professional.

Speaker 0

即使在播客里,我也穿得很随意。

Even on the podcast, I'm like pretty casual.

Speaker 1

对,因为我们在这里是自然对话,对吧?

Yeah, because we're doing natural conversation here, right?

Speaker 1

太棒了。

Love it.

Speaker 1

那我们今天聊点什么?

So what are we getting into today?

Speaker 1

聊聊穿衣风格。

Talking about clothing styles.

Speaker 0

我很期待。

I'm excited.

Speaker 0

这个话题挺有意思的。

This is interesting.

Speaker 0

穿衣打扮当然是个热门话题。

Clothing is, of course, a huge topic of conversation.

Speaker 0

这个想法就冒出来了。

And this came up.

Speaker 0

我们正在回答一位学生在问答环节提出的问题。

We're answering a student's question from one of our Q and A sessions.

Speaker 0

我们个人教练课程里的学员,只要方便,每周都会参加一次问答环节。

Anyone in our personal coach classes attends a weekly Q and A if they're able.

Speaker 0

他们问到了关于工作服装、衣服的性别化用词。

And they asked about gendered words for work attire, for clothing.

Speaker 0

首先,有几位学员穿着非常漂亮的衬衫,稍微有点飘逸,颜色很鲜艳。

The first was a couple of them were wearing these really beautiful blouses that were a little more flowy, very colorful.

Speaker 0

我说你们的衬衫真漂亮,但他们没听过“blouse”这个词。

And I said oh your blouses are so beautiful and they hadn't heard that word blouse.

Speaker 0

所以我们讨论了那个词,然后他们又提出了很多后续问题。

So we talked about that word and then they had all of these follow-up questions.

Speaker 0

所以我们今天就来聊聊这个,因为我突然意识到,有些词我们确实专门用于工作服装,比如女性或男性的商务着装。

So we're going to talk about it today because I sort of realized, I hadn't realized that there are some words that we really use specific with work attire, business attire for women's or men's clothing.

Speaker 1

天哪,这么多好问题。

Oh my gosh, so many great questions.

Speaker 1

那我们今天从哪儿开始呢,Aubrey?

But where should we start today then Aubrey?

Speaker 0

对,所以今天我们就来回答那些问题,就是之前大家提出来的那些问题。

Yeah, so today we are going to answer those questions, the questions that came up.

Speaker 0

我们还会分享一些不分性别的服装词汇,特别是当你想表达得比较得体的时候,对吧,文化上得体。

And we're also going to share some gender neutral words for clothing, especially when you're wanting to be sensitive, right, culturally sensitive.

Speaker 0

你不太清楚工作环境里有没有跨性别或顺性别的同事。

You don't know in your work environment that might have trans or cisgender employees.

Speaker 0

你可能不想用带有性别色彩的词汇来描述他们的穿着。

You might not want to be using gendered clothing to describe their clothing.

Speaker 0

所以我觉得掌握一些通用的、不分性别的词汇挺好的,随着我们意识提高,这些词也越来越常用了。

So I think it's good to have some general gender neutral words that we're starting to use more as we're more aware.

Speaker 1

太好了。

Perfect.

Speaker 1

你也可以在评论里提出你的问题。

So you can ask your question in your review as well.

Speaker 1

对吧?

All right?

Speaker 0

当然。

Absolutely.

Speaker 0

好,那我们就开始吧,来回答大家提出的一些问题,我相信听众朋友们也会很好奇。

All right, let's dive in and answer some of the questions that we got, which I'm sure everyone out there would also be curious.

Speaker 0

首先,关于“blouse”这个词。

So first of all, the word blouse.

Speaker 0

我把它描述为一种宽松的上衣,传统上用来指女性的衬衫,通常颜色鲜艳,可能还有花朵图案,对吧?

I kind of described this as a flowy shirt that is traditionally used to describe a woman's shirt often would be colorful, might have flowers, right?

Speaker 0

对。

Yes.

Speaker 0

对。

Yes.

Speaker 0

所以就算一个男人穿了一件宽松飘逸的衬衫,一件比较宽大的衬衫,我也不会叫它blouse,因为这个词很有性别指向。

So like even if a man were wearing a flowy shirt, a more oversized shirt, I wouldn't call it a blouse because it's a very gendered word.

Speaker 1

是的,所以学生问的问题是,我们会不会用blouse来形容男式衬衫?

Yeah, so the question the question the student asked is would we ever say blouse for a men's shirt?

Speaker 1

不会,基本不会,对吧?

No, not really, right?

Speaker 1

所以当我想到blouse的时候,我确实会想到像你说的那种女性化的衣服。

so when I think blouse, I do think like you said a feminine piece of clothing.

Speaker 0

通常面料更精致,更飘逸,对吧?

That's usually more delicate fabrics, flowy, right?

Speaker 0

而且这挺有意思的。

And it's interesting.

Speaker 0

我都不买衬衫的,因为通常都得干洗。

I avoid buying blouses because they often have to be dry cleaned.

Speaker 0

它们可能不能机洗,而我不会买任何不能用洗衣机洗的东西。

They might not be a machine wash and I won't buy anything I can't wash in my washing machine.

Speaker 1

对,完全说得通。

Yeah, that makes total sense.

Speaker 1

看材质,容易起皱,挺麻烦的。

They get wrinkly depending on the material and it's just a mess.

Speaker 1

是的,我同意。

Yes, I agree.

Speaker 1

但有时候穿在西装外套里面确实好看。

But they do look good under a blazer sometimes.

Speaker 1

如果可以的话,我会尽量买。

I will try to, try to get them if I can.

Speaker 1

但如果你去开会,一到酒店房间就得马上把衣服挂起来。

But if you go to a conference, you gotta hang your stuff up right away in a hotel room.

Speaker 0

带衬衫出门旅行太麻烦了。

To travel with a blouse is dangerous.

Speaker 0

你很可能得带个挂烫机,因为它们确实容易皱。

You're gonna need to bring a steamer probably because they do.

Speaker 0

那种面料特别容易起褶子。

It's fabrics that wrinkle easily.

Speaker 0

不过咱们来举几个例子吧。

But let's give a couple example sentences.

Speaker 0

你可能会说,哦,我在找一件上班穿的好看的衬衫。

You might say, oh, I'm looking for a nice blouse I can wear to work.

Speaker 1

或者说她的衬衫看起来很职业。

Or her blouse looks very professional.

Speaker 0

对。

Yes.

Speaker 1

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 1

那么,奥布里,男士那边类似的东西是什么呢?

So then what about the men's item that's similar to that, Aubrey?

Speaker 1

你会怎么称呼它?

What would you call it then?

Speaker 1

你不会叫它……那它叫什么?

You're not gonna call it a So what is it called?

Speaker 0

男士的正装衬衫,你可以这么叫它,正装衬衫,也可以叫纽扣衬衫、带领衬衫、长袖衬衫。

So a men's dress shirt, which you could call it that, a dress shirt, might be called a button up, a collared shirt, a long sleeve shirt.

Speaker 0

这些都可以。

Any of these things.

Speaker 0

你觉得呢,林赛?

What do you think, Lindsay?

Speaker 1

不。

No.

Speaker 1

我同意。

I agree.

Speaker 1

所以“button up”这个词,我其实不太用。

So button up, I I don't really use that term.

Speaker 1

“Collared shirt”我觉得也可以用来形容女式衬衫。

Collared shirt, I think think you could call a collared shirt a woman shirt too.

Speaker 1

不过那种衬衫会稍微正式一点。

Like but it's a little bit more structured.

Speaker 1

它不是那种宽松的女士衬衫。

It's not a blouse.

Speaker 1

关键就在这儿。

That's the thing.

Speaker 1

它通常有扣子,而且材质一般是棉的,不像丝绸那种滑滑的。

It usually has buttons, and it's just a bit more it's usually cotton, not so much like a silky fabric.

Speaker 0

很多时候主要看面料,看它是不是更精致、更飘逸。

A lot of it's about the fabrics and if it's more delicate and flowing or not.

Speaker 0

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 0

很多时候更看它是不是合身的。

A lot of it's more if it's fitted or not.

Speaker 0

这挺有意思的。

That's interesting.

Speaker 0

然后“button down”这个词,我男女款都听过。

And then button down, I have heard for both.

Speaker 0

我想你也听过。

I think you have as well.

Speaker 0

男士或女士的有领扣衬衫,都可以叫“button down”。

You would call a collared shirt that buttons up for a man or a woman.

Speaker 0

但我觉得现在越来越多的人用“button up”来专指男士的有领扣衬衫。

You can call it a button down, but I feel like more and more I'm hearing button up used just for like a men's collared buttoned up shirt.

Speaker 0

你觉得呢,Lindsay?

What do you think, Lindsay?

Speaker 1

对,我觉得可能是这样。

Yeah, I think that's probably true.

Speaker 1

有道理。

That makes sense.

Speaker 1

那就这么定了。

We'll go with that.

Speaker 1

我觉得这很有道理。

I think that makes a lot of sense.

Speaker 1

所以,button up单独用指男士衬衫,而button down shirt男女都能用。

So button up, just button up alone being for men, but a button down shirt being for women and men.

Speaker 1

这个说法挺具体的。

This is very specific here.

Speaker 0

确实很具体。

It is very specific.

Speaker 0

挺有意思的。

It's interesting.

Speaker 0

有可能这很地域化。

There's a chance this is very regional.

Speaker 0

如果你在英国或者美国,而且可能还分东西海岸,这种说法会因地区而异。

If you're in The UK or if you're in The States and maybe east versus west, this is the kind of thing that changes depending on where you are.

Speaker 0

所以,可能在我这里某些说法更常见,但有些是商务着装的标准用语,比如blouse通常指女性的衬衫,那些更飘逸的款式。

So it might be, you know, more common where I am to say certain things, but some of these are very sort of standard for all business attire, blouse being very much associated with women's shirts, these more delicate flowing shirts.

Speaker 0

如果你想指男士衬衫,可以说button up或者collared shirt。

And then if you want to refer to a man's shirt, you could call it a button up or a collared shirt.

Speaker 0

这两种说法都可以。

Either of those would work.

Speaker 1

比如,你可以说面试时应该穿一件扣领衬衫,或者那条裤子配一件扣领衬衫会更好看。

So for example, you could say you should wear a button up shirt to the interview or those pants would look better with a button up.

Speaker 1

所以这是有人在给伴侣一些穿搭建议。

So someone giving their partner maybe some fashion tips.

Speaker 0

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 0

这很有意思。

And this is interesting.

Speaker 0

这也让我想到了我们描述西装时用的语言。

It's also making me think about the language we use for suits.

Speaker 0

比如,女性的西装,我们可能会叫它裤装。

Whereas for a woman's suit, we might call it a pantsuit.

Speaker 0

我记得希拉里·克林顿因为穿裤装而出名,但我们绝不会把男性的西装叫做裤装。

I remember Hillary Clinton was famous for wearing pantsuits, but we would never call a man's suit a pantsuit.

Speaker 0

就直接叫西装。

Just call it suit.

Speaker 1

因为当然他们穿的是裤子。

Because of course they're wearing pants.

Speaker 1

他们很可能穿的是裤子。

More than likely they're wearing pants.

Speaker 1

对。

Yes.

Speaker 1

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 0

对,就是这样。

And it's yes.

Speaker 0

因为通常来说,传统上女式西装更多是配裙子的。

It's because often, traditionally, women's suits did have skirts more.

Speaker 0

所以现在我们说“裤装西装”是为了区分裙装西装和裤装西装。

So now we're saying a pantsuit to distinguish between a suit with a skirt and a suit with pants.

Speaker 0

所以确实有区别。

So it is different.

Speaker 0

我们只是根据衣服的类型使用不同的术语。

We just have these different terms that are used depending on the type of clothing.

Speaker 1

我很喜欢我们的听众关心如何用包容性的语言让每个人都感到被接纳。

And I love that our listeners are concerned about making sure that we are making everyone feel included using inclusive language.

Speaker 1

所以我们的听众问你们,比如说,为了避免同事是跨性别者或顺性别者,我们是否应该避免使用带有性别指向的服装词汇?

So our listeners asked you, should we avoid gendered clothing words in case coworkers are trans or cisgender, for example?

Speaker 1

或者,我们就说,有不同的性别认同,这些认同可能不符合常规。

Or different, let's just say, have different gender identities that are outside the norm.

Speaker 1

那么,什么是

So And what is

Speaker 0

有趣的是,你并不总是知道。

what's interesting the is you won't always know.

Speaker 0

你可能有跨性别或顺性别的同事,他们还没有向办公室公开身份。

You may have coworkers that are trans or cisgender who haven't come out to the office.

Speaker 0

所以为了表示尊重,我确实尽量使用中性语言,因为

So in order to be respectful, I really try to avoid to use neutral language whenever possible just because

Speaker 1

我不知道,我也不想

I don't know and I don't want to

Speaker 0

做出假设。

make an assumption.

Speaker 0

所以我觉得这里有一些好的选择,而不是告诉别人,你知道,我喜欢你的衬衫。

So I think there are some good options here instead of telling anyone, you know, I love your blouse.

Speaker 0

以防万一他们可能会因为某种原因感到冒犯,我通常会直接说衬衫。

Just in case there's a chance they could be like offended for some reason, I would just go with shirt most often.

Speaker 0

就比如说,哦,注意一下。

Just be like, oh, make sure.

Speaker 1

用最中性的词,最宽泛的词,那个大伞一样的词。

Go with the most neutral term, the broadest term, the big umbrella term.

Speaker 0

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 0

那我们稍微休息一下,接下来我们会给你更多中性的、宽泛的词,用来描述任何人的穿着,这样就不会有性别上的假设,也不会替你下判断。

So let's take a quick break and we're going to give you some more gender neutral broad terms that you could use to describe anyone's clothing that never would potentially be, you know, gendered and and make an assumption on your behalf.

Speaker 1

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 1

听起来不错。

Sounds good.

Speaker 1

用你的母语说话时,你很有个性。

In your first language, you have personality.

Speaker 1

你会开玩笑,会打断别人,也会反驳。

You joke, you interrupt, you push back.

Speaker 1

但是用英语的时候,你可能会觉得自己变小了,更小心翼翼,表达得没有真实的自己那么丰富。

But in English, you might feel smaller, more careful, less expressive than you really are.

Speaker 1

如果英语让你感觉像在过滤你的个性,那可能是时候去理解为什么了。

If English feels like it's filtering your personality, it may be time to understand why.

Speaker 1

我们免费的“两分钟流利度测试”能帮你看到是什么阻碍了你自由自然地说话和与人交流。

That's allearsenglish.com/fluencyscore.

Speaker 1

哦,奥布里。

Oh, Aubrey.

Speaker 1

那你觉得,有哪些不分性别的词可以用来描述上衣呢?

So what are those gender neutral words that we can use to describe tops, would you say?

Speaker 0

我觉得“纽扣衬衫”肯定算一个。

So I think button down for sure.

Speaker 0

我们之前也提到过这一点。

First, we kind of mentioned that Mhmm.

Speaker 0

说“纽扣衬衫”的时候,并不特指男式或女式衬衫。

When you say button down, it doesn't really assume a men's or women's shirt.

Speaker 0

根据面料和款式,这种衬衫可以休闲也可以正式。

These can be casual or more formal depending on the fabric and style.

Speaker 0

就是那种从上到下都有纽扣的衬衫。

This is just any shirt that has buttons all the way down.

Speaker 1

对。

Yes.

Speaker 1

对,我是说,我确定,因为如果你做过那种盘发,有时候比如你去参加舞会什么的,提前做好头发,他们会告诉你穿一件纽扣衬衫,这样头发做好后就不用套头穿了,对吧。

And, yeah, I mean, I know for sure because if you get I've gotten, like, updos done and sometimes if you got like, if you go to the prom or something and you get your hair done beforehand, they'll tell you to wear a button down shirt so you don't have to pull a shirt after your hair is done up over Right.

Speaker 1

你知道,就是不用从头上套下去。

You know, over your head.

Speaker 1

所以我觉得这肯定可以用在女性身上,但那是最好的说法。

So I think that definitely can be used for women, but that would be the best one.

Speaker 1

它很宽泛。

It's broad.

Speaker 1

还有什么?

What else?

Speaker 0

那我就举几个例子吧。

So I'm just gonna give a couple of examples with that.

Speaker 0

你可以说,所有在会议上发言的人都被要求穿纽扣衬衫,或者我为我们下周的商务旅行打包了两件纽扣衬衫。

You might say everyone presenting at the conference was asked to wear a button down shirt, or I packed two button downs for our business trip next week.

Speaker 0

所以任何人都可以这么说。

So anyone could say this.

Speaker 0

而且你也可以说带领子的衬衫。

Just and you could also say collared shirt.

Speaker 0

我觉得说带领子的衬衫不一定指性别。

I think this doesn't necessarily imply gender for someone to say a collared shirt.

Speaker 1

或者你也可以直接说衬衫,就像我们休息前说的那样。

Or you could just say shirt as we as we suggested before the break.

Speaker 1

用那个总称是最安全的,因为不会指向任何性别。

Just going with that umbrella term, will be kind of the safest way because that won't point to any gender.

Speaker 1

对吧?

Okay?

Speaker 0

对。

Yes.

Speaker 0

比如说,如果你想夸人,可以说我喜欢你的衬衫,或者他们让我们带几件衬衫?

So for example, you might say, you know, like if you want a compliment just to say, I love your shirt or how many shirts did they tell us to pack?

Speaker 0

这就是一个通用词,不会涉及性别。

This is just a general term that is not going to assume gender.

Speaker 0

但我有个问题想问你,Lindsay。

But I have a question for you, Lindsay.

Speaker 0

“top”这个词,有时候我们会用“top”来指代很多不同的上衣,但我觉得这个词也有性别倾向。

The word top, sometimes we'll use top to refer to lots of different shirts, but I think that also is gendered.

Speaker 0

我不会把男士衬衫叫做“top”。

I wouldn't call a man's shirt a top.

Speaker 0

你觉得呢?

What about you?

Speaker 1

我一想到“top”,就想到女性。

When I think top, I think female.

Speaker 0

那挺有意思的。

That's interesting.

Speaker 0

你可以说,比如,“我喜欢你的上衣”。

You should be like, I like your top.

Speaker 0

“上衣真可爱。”

Cute top.

Speaker 0

但我不会对

But I wouldn't say that to

Speaker 1

一个男生说。

a guy.

Speaker 1

对,可能是因为女性之间交流更多,也更容易互相夸赞对方的穿着。这很有意思。

Yeah, maybe it's because women talk more and compliment each other more on their That's interesting.

Speaker 0

所以这是另一个例子。

So that's another one.

Speaker 0

我会把它归为衬衫那一类,对吧?

I would put that in the category of a blouse, right?

Speaker 0

虽然“top”可以指很多东西,比如毛衣、夹克、背心。

Even though to say top could be anything, it could be a sweater, a jacket, a tank top.

Speaker 0

它可以指任何东西,但实际上大多用来指女性的上衣。

It could be anything, but it really is mostly used to refer to a woman's shirt.

Speaker 0

所以如果有人对我说“我喜欢你的上衣”,我也不会觉得奇怪。

So if someone said to me, I wouldn't be surprised like, oh, I like your top.

Speaker 0

但比如我就不会对我丈夫这么说。

But I wouldn't say that to my husband, for example.

Speaker 1

有意思。

Interesting.

Speaker 1

这真的非常细致和具体,对吧?

This is incredibly nuanced and specific, right?

Speaker 1

非常非常……你可以说公司着装要求员工穿职业衬衫。

Very, very You could say the company dress code requires employees to wear professional shirts.

Speaker 1

所以,用衬衫而不是上衣,也许吧。

So again, to shirts instead of instead of tops maybe.

Speaker 1

或者,那件上衣真不错。

Or that's a nice top.

Speaker 1

见客户穿正合适。

It's perfect for client meetings.

Speaker 0

你可能会对朋友或女同事这么说,但如果对方是男的,我就直接说衬衫。

And you might say that to a friend, to like a woman you work with, but if it's a man, I would just say shirt.

Speaker 0

哦,那件挺好看的。对。

Oh, that's a nice Yeah.

Speaker 1

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 1

或者叫正装衬衫。

Or dress shirt.

Speaker 1

现在,我觉得正装衬衫,让我想想。

Now, I think dress shirt let's see.

Speaker 1

这个可能男女都能用。

This could be for both.

Speaker 0

我也这么觉得。

I think so too.

Speaker 0

我会都这么叫,你知道,这可能是件更好的衬衫,通常有领子和扣子。

I would call both, you know, and this is a nicer shirt probably with a collar and buttons.

Speaker 0

但是,对,我不觉得正装衬衫这个词有性别之分。

But, yeah, I don't it doesn't feel gendered to me, dress shirt.

Speaker 1

只是穿法不一样而已。

It just gets dressed up in a different way.

Speaker 1

就是,怎么说呢,衬衫通常男女款式不一样。

It just like, I don't know, a a dress shirt is obvious is usually different for men and women.

Speaker 1

对。

Yes.

Speaker 1

但衬衫这个词还是通用的。

But dress shirt works.

Speaker 1

所以是的。

So yeah.

Speaker 1

那还有什么?

So what else?

Speaker 1

那个词还有其他例子吗?

Any other examples there for that one?

Speaker 1

或者你

Or do you

Speaker 0

是的,需要。

need Yeah.

Speaker 0

可以说,我见新客户时总是穿正装衬衫,或者你需要一件合适的正装衬衫来搭配那套西装。

Might say, I always wear a dress shirt when meeting new clients or you'll need a proper dress shirt to go with that suit.

Speaker 0

我其实挺喜欢这个说法的,因为如果我们只说衬衫,那可能是T恤。

I like this actually as because if we say shirt, that could be a t shirt.

Speaker 0

可能是任何类型的衬衫。

That could be any kind of shirt.

Speaker 0

如果你想表达得更具体,又不想说女式衬衫或纽扣衬衫,你可以说正装衬衫,这样就避免了性别区分。

If you're wanting to be specific without having to say blouse or button up, you can say dress shirt and that removes the gender from it.

Speaker 1

对,或者你可以说有领衬衫。

Yes or you could say collared shirt.

Speaker 1

是的,男女都可以穿有领衬衫。

Yeah, women or men could wear a collared shirt.

Speaker 1

对,你觉得呢?

Yeah, don't you think?

Speaker 0

对,这个描述的就是衬衫有领子这个特点。

And this yeah, this describes this feature of the shirt that it has a collar.

Speaker 0

有意思的是,比如女士穿的那种很精致、飘逸的衬衫,就算领子很软,叫它有领衬衫好像也有点奇怪,对吧?

So it is interesting how it for like, if you have a blouse for a woman that's very, delicate and flowy, like it would sort of be strange to call it a collared shirt even if it had like a soft collar, right?

Speaker 0

我们说“有领衬衫”的时候,脑子里想的其实是那种更商务、更有型的款式。

When we say collared shirt, we really are envisioning that more business y color with something more structured.

Speaker 0

有意思。

Interesting.

Speaker 0

有型。

Structure.

Speaker 1

就是领子能自己立起来。

That it can stand up on its own.

Speaker 1

确实。

For sure.

Speaker 1

所以我们可以说,着装要求是员工应该穿有领衬衫。

So we could say the dress code says employees should wear a collared shirt.

Speaker 1

或者在办公室里,大多数人穿有领衬衫而不是T恤。

Or at the office, most people wear collared shirts instead of t shirts.

Speaker 1

这是上班穿得正式一点的一个快速简单的方法。

That's a quick and easy way to get dressed up for work.

Speaker 1

只要穿上有领衬衫和一条裤子就行了。

Just put on a collared shirt and a pair of pants.

Speaker 0

所以这提供了一些很好的选择。

So this gives some great options.

Speaker 0

现在你知道了,或者也许你一直都知道,blouse通常指非常女性化的衬衫,button-up通常指男式衬衫,但还有其他说法可以表达同样的意思。

If now that you realize now that you know or maybe you always knew that a blouse is really for like very feminine shirts, button up really is for men's shirts, there are these other ways to say the same thing.

Speaker 0

我们还有这些中性的选择。

We have these other gender neutral options.

Speaker 0

另外还有polo衫,当然男女都会穿polo衫。

And then we also have polo shirt, which of course men and women wear polo shirts.

Speaker 0

我觉得这很像高尔夫服装,就是那种短袖、有领子、领口有几颗扣子的衬衫。

This is very much like golf attire is what I think of it as it's that short sleeve shirt with a collar and a couple of buttons at the neck.

Speaker 0

林赛,你认识很多穿Polo衫的人吗?

Do you know a lot of people who wear polo shirts, Lindsay?

Speaker 1

我不太确定,不一定吧,但我知道有穿Polo衫的人,他们去打高尔夫球时会穿,但我不觉得我很多朋友穿Polo衫。

I wouldn't say that I not necessarily, but I know that people who have them, so they so they wear them if they do go golfing or but I don't know that a lot of my friends wear polo shirts.

Speaker 1

就是有点学院风。

Just it's a little preppy.

Speaker 0

是有点学院风。

It's little preppy.

Speaker 0

这绝对是一种不同的、特定的风格。

It's a definitely different style specific style.

Speaker 0

你可能会在会议上看到有人穿。

You might see people wearing them at conferences.

Speaker 0

他们想穿得正式一点,但穿Polo衫还是属于商务休闲。

They're trying to dress up a little bit, but it's still kind of business casual to wear a polo.

Speaker 1

所以再说一次,我通常在休闲星期五穿Polo衫,那是个不错的选择。

So again, I usually go for a polo shirt on casual Friday, so that's a good choice on a casual Friday.

Speaker 1

或者我们公司的制服里就有Polo衫。

Or our company branded attire includes a polo shirt.

Speaker 1

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 0

行。

Alright.

Speaker 0

我们来做个角色扮演吧。

Let's do a role play here.

Speaker 0

我们是工作上的朋友,要一起出差,讨论一下该带什么衣服。

We are work friends, and we're going on a business trip together and discussing what clothing we should bring.

Speaker 1

好的。

Alright.

Speaker 1

开始吧。

Here we go.

Speaker 1

你先来,奥布里。

Go ahead, Aubrey.

Speaker 0

好的。

Alright.

Speaker 0

嘿。

Hey.

Speaker 0

我对这次旅行很期待。

I'm excited for the upcoming trip.

Speaker 0

你开始收拾行李了吗?

Have you started packing yet?

Speaker 1

还没有。

No.

Speaker 1

但我觉得我知道要带什么。

But I think I know what I'm bringing.

Speaker 0

哦,那你打算带什么样的衬衫?

Oh, what are you thinking in terms of dress shirts?

Speaker 1

我可能会带几件纽扣衬衫,搭配正装裤去开会。

I'll probably go with a few button downs paired with dress pants for our meetings.

Speaker 0

哦,好主意。

Oh, good idea.

Speaker 0

我打算带几件有领子的衬衫和一件轻薄的毛衣。

I'm packing a couple of collared shirts and a lightweight sweater.

Speaker 1

带毛衣是个好主意,尤其是晚上冷的时候。

Sweater is a good idea, especially if it gets cold at night.

Speaker 1

你会带一些更休闲的上衣,用于下班后的晚餐和喝酒吗?

Are you bringing more casual tops for after work dinners and drinks?

Speaker 0

可能就带一两件好看的上衣吧。

Probably just a nice blouse or two.

Speaker 1

不错。

Nice.

Speaker 1

哦,别忘了带公司的polo衫。

Oh, don't forget to bring your company polo shirt.

Speaker 1

我们得在初次见面活动上穿它。

We're supposed to wear it for the initial meet and greet event.

Speaker 0

谢谢你提醒我。

Thanks for reminding me.

Speaker 0

我差点就忘了。

I would have forgotten that.

Speaker 1

哦,别客气。

Oh, no worries.

Speaker 1

明天飞机上见。

I'll see you tomorrow on the flight.

Speaker 0

好的。

Sounds good.

Speaker 0

到时候见。

See you then.

Speaker 0

公司把品牌印在polo衫上是很常见的。

This is very typical that a company will put their brand on a polo shirt.

Speaker 0

每个人都有

Everyone has

Speaker 1

都得穿。

to wear it.

Speaker 1

我们All Ears English还没这么做。

We haven't done that yet at All Ears English.

Speaker 1

也许有一天吧。

Maybe one day.

Speaker 1

我们还没。

We're not.

Speaker 1

所以你问我关于衬衫的想法。

So I you asked me what are you thinking in terms of dress shirts?

Speaker 1

所以那是中性款的选择。

So that was the gender neutral option.

Speaker 0

我就是具体一点。

Just being And this I'm getting specific.

Speaker 0

我一般问你,比如,你穿什么不是T恤的?

I'm asking you in general, like, what are you wearing that's not t shirts?

Speaker 1

在商务场合,你会穿什么衣服来撑场面?

What are you wearing that you can pull off in a business scenario?

Speaker 0

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 0

对。

Yep.

Speaker 0

然后你说,我可能会带几件纽扣衬衫,搭配正装裤去开会。

And you said, I'll probably go with a few button downs paired with dress pants for our meetings.

Speaker 0

所以这就是那种……

So this is yeah.

Speaker 0

就是那种有领子、从上到下扣扣子的衬衫。

Some kind of collared shirt that buttons all the way down.

Speaker 1

然后你说,好主意。

And then you said, good idea.

Speaker 1

我打算带几件有领衬衫和一件薄毛衣。

I'm packing a couple of collared shirts and a lightweight sweater.

展开剩余字幕(还有 56 条)
Speaker 1

对吧?

Okay?

Speaker 0

然后你提到了你的上衣,你知道,就像你或我会说,哦,我要带几件休闲上衣,但那更多是那种……

And then you referred to your tops, you know, like you or I would say, oh, I'm gonna bring some casual tops, but that is more for Yeah.

Speaker 0

女式的

Women's

Speaker 1

然后还有衬衫,我说的是衬衫。

And then blouse, I said blouse.

Speaker 1

你说了衬衫。

You said blouse.

Speaker 1

可能就带一两件好看的衬衫。

Probably just a nice blouse or two.

Speaker 1

那是出门穿的。

That's for going out.

Speaker 1

通常你会看到,如果你去参加会议之类的,白天大家会穿得稍微正式一点。

Often what you'll see is if you go to a conference or something, people will wear something a bit more structured during the day.

Speaker 1

而且通常会有派对或晚宴,人们会换衣服,也许女性会换上衬衫之类的。

And then usually there's parties or dinners, and people will change into maybe women will change into, like, blouses or something.

Speaker 1

更轻便一些,更适合外出,更社交一些。

Something a little lighter, more going out y, more social.

Speaker 0

有意思的是,我丈夫经常出差,他带的行李少得多,因为他白天开会和晚上吃饭可能穿一样的衣服。

And it is interesting because, so my husband travels a lot for work and he has to pack a lot less because he'll wear the same thing during the day to the conference probably as to dinner.

Speaker 0

差别不大。

Like that's not that different.

Speaker 0

而女性可能就会换一下。

Whereas women probably would change.

Speaker 1

可能吧。

Probably.

Speaker 0

也不一定,但通常,特别是如果你觉得热,穿了一整天,你可能会想换上无袖上衣。

That's not necessarily, but often, Especially if you're like hot, you've been in something all day, you want to put on a sleeveless top maybe.

Speaker 0

所以,这挺有意思的。

So yeah, this is interesting.

Speaker 0

我越想越觉得,哇,有好多词是专门针对某个性别的,这要是想做到包容的话确实挺麻烦的。

The more I looked in, when I was thinking about this, I'm like, wow, there are so many words that are specific to one gender or another, which does make it tricky if you are trying to be inclusive.

Speaker 0

你知道,如果你不想在工作中对别人的性别做假设的话。

If you know, you don't want to make assumptions about someone's gender at work.

Speaker 1

对,确实。

Yeah, for sure.

Speaker 1

所以要小心。

So be careful.

Speaker 1

大家别担心,如果觉得有点多的话。

Don't worry if this feels overwhelming, guys.

Speaker 1

这里的词汇量确实很大,可能你是第一次听到这些。

There is a lot of vocabulary here and it might be the first time you're hearing this.

Speaker 1

所以只要挑我们今天学的一两个短语,用起来,试试看。

So just take one or two of the phrases we've learned today and run with them and try them out.

Speaker 1

我们就是这样学习的。

That's how we learn.

Speaker 0

没错,对吧?

Exactly, right?

Speaker 0

这些词肯定都不是特别正式,对吧?

These are definitely not overly formal, none of them, right?

Speaker 0

而且我们确实经常聊到衣服,你也希望能进行这些对话。

And we do talk about clothing a lot and you want to be able to have these conversations.

Speaker 0

幸运的是,我觉得大多数人,尤其是在你学语言的时候,他们知道你在努力,所以就算你把衬衫叫成女式衬衫,他们也不会太在意,这也不是什么大不了的事。

And luckily, you know, I think most people especially where you're learning a language they know you're trying, no one's going to be stressed out if you call their shirt a blouse and they identify It's as a not the end of the world.

Speaker 0

但我很感激,你知道,我们的听众和学生们经常考虑这个问题。

But I appreciate that, you know, our listeners, our students are often thinking about that.

Speaker 0

他们想使用性别包容的语言。

They want to use gender inclusive language.

Speaker 0

所以,现在你就有了一些很好的选择了。

And so, like, now you have some really good options.

Speaker 1

谢谢大家提出这么好的问题。

Thanks, guys, for asking good questions.
