This is Sophia Karpman, host of the Dream Big Podcast show, place to learn, laugh, and grow.

Speaker 0

Big dreamers, have you ever felt something before anyone has even said a word?

Speaker 0

Like, you walk into a room and you know something is off, or you feel happy without even knowing why.

Speaker 0

And have you ever noticed that animals seem to understand you even when you don't say anything at all?

Speaker 0

Like, they can feel when you're calm, nervous, or excited.

Speaker 0

Today, we're going to talk about something really interesting, how energy works, how some people feel it more than others, and how animals can feel it too.

Speaker 0

This is exactly what we're going to uncover in this episode, so make sure to stay with me till the very end.

Speaker 0

Welcome back, Big Dreamers.

Speaker 0

Today's episode is one of those things that once you start noticing it, you can't unnotice it because we're talking about something that you feel all the time but you might not always understand, energy, how you feel it, how other people feel it, and even how animals respond to it.

Speaker 0

And I'm going to share a horseback riding story that honestly surprised me and made me think about this in a completely different way.

Speaker 0

But first, let me ask you something.

Speaker 0

Have you ever walked into a room and before even opening the door, you kind of feel something, like, somewhere in the back of your spine.

Speaker 0

That's where I feel it.

Speaker 0

And that little feeling, like something is going on, I get that a lot.

Speaker 0

Sometimes I can feel someone's energy before they even say anything, even before they really walk into the space.

Speaker 0

And when they do, it matches.

Speaker 0

That's energy.

Speaker 0

It's not something that you see, something that you notice.

Speaker 0

You feel it in your body.

Speaker 0

You feel it in your reaction.

Speaker 0

And the more you pay attention, the easier it is to notice.

Speaker 0

And here's something important.

Speaker 0

You don't just feel energy.

Speaker 0

You bring it everywhere you go.

Speaker 0

Some people feel this even more.

Speaker 0

These people are called empaths.

Speaker 0

It means that you are really good at noticing how others feel, sometimes even too good.

Speaker 0

For example, I can feel my mom's mood really fast like this.

Speaker 0

And I don't know if you can relate, but I feel my mom's energy really fast.

Speaker 0

Like, even if she doesn't say anything, I already know.

Speaker 0

And sometimes I feel like if I say one more word, it might turn the whole situation upside down.

Speaker 0

That's being tuned in.

Speaker 0

And it can actually be a really powerful thing because it helps you understand people better, helps you be kind, it helps you be aware.

Speaker 0

But here's the important part.

Speaker 0

You can feel someone's emotions without taking them on.

Speaker 0

You don't have to carry everything.

Speaker 0

You can notice and stay calm inside yourself.

Speaker 0

Okay.

Speaker 0

I actually have a really funny story about what happened with my horse.

Speaker 0

This was my second horseback riding lesson, and I was really thinking about jumping a hurdle.

Speaker 0

I was not close to being able to jump a hurdle, but I was really thinking about it.

Speaker 0

Like, really thinking about it.

Speaker 0

I was also excited but also a little scared.

Speaker 0

You know that feeling?

Speaker 0

Where it's like, I really wanna do this, but also, what if I mess up?

Speaker 0

So we start walking, and I'm already imagining the jump.

Speaker 0

So when my coach tells me to start trotting, I do.

Speaker 0

And suddenly, my horse Blueberry starts heading straight towards the hurdle.

Speaker 0

And in that moment, I felt both things at once, excited and scared.

Speaker 0

Like, wait.

Speaker 0

I wanted to do this, but not yet.

Speaker 0

And before I could even decide, she jumped.

Speaker 0

And somehow, someway, without any training or any context of how to do it, I held on so tight and stayed on.

Speaker 0

And I remember kinda sitting there thinking, did she feel what I was thinking?

Speaker 0

Did Blueberry feel my excitement?

Speaker 0

Because I never told her to go.

Speaker 0

Well, I never told her to go jump, but I was thinking about it so much.

Speaker 0

That big humorous is because animals notice energy in a really strong way.

Speaker 0

They don't need words.

Speaker 0

They don't need explanations.

Speaker 0

They just feel it.

Speaker 0

Like my bunny.

Speaker 0

Sometimes if I get a little frustrated or upset, she can feel right away.

Speaker 0

But sometimes she's not very helpful because she also gets frustrated or upset.

Speaker 0

But that's a totally different thing.

Speaker 0

And I can tell right away when she feels my energy because she reacts differently.

Speaker 0

And then I talk to her.

Speaker 0

I calm down, and she relaxes again.

Speaker 0

And sometimes when animals come close and you feel their little whiskers or movements, you feel, like, something in your body, like a reaction.

Speaker 0

Me, personally, whenever something, like, light and airy touches me, I told you this before.

Speaker 0

I talked about my spine.

Speaker 0

My spine kinda goes, like, not relaxed, but kinda, like, tightens, like a reaction.

Speaker 0

That's energy too.

Speaker 0

Animals feel you, and you can feel them.

Speaker 0

Here's a little challenge for you.

Speaker 0

This week, pay attention.

Speaker 0

Notice what you feel before people speak.

Speaker 0

Notice your body and notice your reactions.

Speaker 0

Notice how animals respond to you, and try one thing.

Speaker 0

Before you walk into a room, pause for a second and choose how you wanna show up.

Speaker 0

Calm, kind, steady, because that's the choice that changes more than you think.

Speaker 0
