搬出去…还是不搬

Moving Out... Or Not

Speaker 0

你好。

Hello.

Speaker 0

欢迎收听eatyourcrustpodcast。

Welcome to eatyourcrustpodcast.

Speaker 0

我是Crystal。

I'm Crystal.

Speaker 0

我是Jisoo。

I'm Jisoo.

Speaker 1

我是Avi。

I'm Avi.

Speaker 0

今天,我们带来了我们的朋友Avi,他讨厌我们,逃到了华盛顿特区。

Today, we brought our friend Avi who hates us and ran away to DC.

Speaker 0

我们觉得这是一个

And we thought it would be a

Speaker 2

很好的主意,来聊聊我们不同的生活经历,因为Crystal目前和父母住在一起。

good idea to talk about our different living experiences because Crystal currently lives with her parents.

Speaker 2

我和我男朋友住在一起,而Avi独自一人生活。

I live with my boyfriend and Avi lives in utter solitude.

Speaker 2

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 2

像是

Like a

Speaker 1

一个小工作室公寓。

little Oh my have a studio apartment.

Speaker 1

你们过得还行吗?

You guys chill?

Speaker 0

开玩笑的。

Just kidding.

Speaker 0

我真心也想一个人住。

I honestly would love to live alone too.

Speaker 1

这其实比我想象的要好得多。

It's also a lot better than I thought.

Speaker 2

嗯嗯。

Mhmm.

Speaker 2

真的吗?

Really?

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

或者就是说,是的。

Or it's like Yeah.

Speaker 1

工作日的时候真的很不错,因为你上班,回家后把事情做完,就不用操心别人在你空间里留下的乱七八糟的东西。

It's really nice during the week cause like you go to work, you come home and you get your shit done and you don't really need to worry about anyone else's like mess in your space.

Speaker 2

嗯嗯。

Mhmm.

Speaker 1

所以就是,嗯嗯。

So it's like Mhmm.

Speaker 1

一切都得靠你自己。

Everything is dependent on you.

Speaker 1

但到了周末,你得自己主动把事情搞定。

But like during the weekend, you gotta like make your own shit happen.

Speaker 0

嗯。

Mhmm.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

我可以。

I can

Speaker 2

我能理解。

see that.

Speaker 2

你是个内向的人,阿维,还是外向的人?

Are you introverted, Avi, or extroverted?

Speaker 1

我会说,差不多居中吧。

I would say, like, pretty in the middle.

Speaker 1

确实有些日子,我会想,操。

Like, there are definitely days where I'm, like, fuck.

Speaker 1

我简直不敢相信我得去跟人说话。

I can't believe I have to go talk to people.

Speaker 1

但还有些日子,我会觉得天啊,我必须离开家,不然我会疯掉。

And then there's other days I'm, like, oh god, I need to leave my home or I'm gonna go crazy.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

如果我一个人住,我可能会不知不觉一个月都见不到人。

If I lived alone, I I could probably go accidentally a month without seeing people.

Speaker 1

会是无意的吗,Crystal?

Would it be accidental, Crystal?

Speaker 0

我知道。

I know.

Speaker 2

把我们隔开吧。

Block us off.

Speaker 2

我

I

Speaker 0

我知道我属于稍微极端的内向型人格,所以完全独自生活对我来说有点危险。

know that I am more on the slightly extreme introvert side, so it's a little dangerous to live completely alone for me.

Speaker 0

这种危险在于我可能会无意中切断所有的人际联系,但最近我在与人联系或不联系方面做得更好了,会主动联系别人并和他们一起出去玩。

Dangerous in that I might accidentally cut off all human connection, but I think I've been better in recent times with just connect or not connecting, but reaching out with other people and hanging out with them.

Speaker 2

我男朋友也是个极端的内向者。

My boyfriend's an extreme introvert too.

Speaker 2

而我是个外向者。

And I'm an extrovert.

Speaker 2

所以我总觉得是我把他拉出家门,或者不得不强迫他出来计划和社交。

So I feel like I draw him out of the house a lot or I have to, like, force him to come out to plan and stuff.

Speaker 1

我觉得詹姆斯在内向和外向之间会有波动。

I feel like James has waves of going like, being introvert and extrovert.

Speaker 2

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 2

但你有没有注意到,詹姆斯从来不会主动发起任何聚会?

But do you ever notice that James will never initiate any hangout?

Speaker 1

哦,是的。

Oh, yeah.

Speaker 1

他从来不会主动这么做。

He will never do that.

Speaker 1

他唯一主动发起的聚会就是,嘿,我们来玩2K吧。

The only hangout he initiates is, hey, let's play 2k.

Speaker 2

或者ST。

Or ST.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

或者ST。

Or ST.

Speaker 0

每当我下班后去Jisoo和James家,因为我工作的地方离他们住的地方很近,有时候我们会一起待着,我就早点过去,我和James常常一玩就是两个小时的2K。

Whenever I go to Jisoo and James' place after work, because I work near where they live and then sometimes we're hanging out so I just go early, me and James just end up playing 2K for, like, two hours.

Speaker 1

谁赢了?

Who wins?

Speaker 0

通常是詹姆斯。

Usually James.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

但比赛总是很接近。

But they're always they're always close games.

Speaker 1

我就让詹姆斯赢。

I just son James.

Speaker 2

你说什么?

You what?

Speaker 1

我让他赢。

I son him.

Speaker 2

哦,我还以为你说的是他输呢。

Oh, I thought you said sucked.

Speaker 2

哦。

Oh.

Speaker 2

我

I

Speaker 0

我当时就想,真的吗?

was like, really?

Speaker 0

我的意思是,我一点都不觉得他们干不出来这种事。

I mean, I wouldn't put it past them.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

什么?!

What the fuck?

Speaker 2

总之

Anyway

Speaker 0

所以跟我们多讲讲你一个人在华盛顿特区生活的情况吧,你是怎么适应的,怎么照顾自己的,诸如此类的事情。

so tell us a little more about living alone in DC and how you are adjusting how you take care of yourself, stuff like that.

Speaker 1

所以当我刚搬进去的时候,大概是九月到十月左右。

So when I first started living so I moved in, like, the September to, like, the October.

Speaker 1

但我在那里的头几个月并不真的觉得自己住在华盛顿特区,因为我经常回湾区。

But the first couple months I was there, I don't really consider living in DC just because I came back to The Bay so often.

Speaker 1

我把整个住处都安顿好了,但总觉得不像家,因为我总去纽约或者别的地方,然后又回到湾区。

I got my whole place settled, but it didn't really feel like home just because I was going to New York or going to all these different places, then I would come back to The Bay.

Speaker 1

所以直到一月,我都觉得那只是个睡觉的地方。

So until January, I was like, this is just another place I sleep.

Speaker 1

但从一月到二月,一个人住确实很难,因为缺乏人际接触——大家都因为天冷而不愿出门。

But January to February, living alone was definitely tough because I was lacking a lot of human contact because no one wanted to do anything because it was cold.

Speaker 1

而且,我在那里也不认识多少人。

And also, I didn't know that many people there.

Speaker 1

哎。

Aw.

Speaker 1

但我也意识到,回到家后,如果家里有什么乱七八糟的地方让我觉得不舒服,那完全是自己的责任。

But I also realized it was really nice to, like, come home and if there's, like, a mess or something I'm not okay with in my own home, it's, like, my own fault.

Speaker 1

所以这让我开始对自己的居住环境负责起来。

So it, like, made me take responsibility for my living space.

Speaker 2

那你为什么决定独自居住,而不是找室友呢?

So why did you decide to live alone and not get a roommate?

Speaker 1

当我搬过去的时候,我知道有一个人也打算搬过去。

So when I was moving out there, I I knew one person who was moving out there too.

Speaker 1

嗯。

Mhmm.

Speaker 1

他是我在大学时的室友。

So it was my roommate from college.

Speaker 1

他从小长大的地方的一个好朋友也打算搬到华盛顿特区。

His really good friend from where he grew up was also moving to DC.

Speaker 1

但时间上没对上,因为他七月份就开始工作了。

But the timings just didn't work out because he started working in July.

Speaker 1

所以他七月份搬过去了,而我是在九月份搬过去的。

So he moved there in July and I moved towards the September.

Speaker 1

但他也在我的楼里租了一间单间公寓。

But he also got, like, a studio apartment in my building.

Speaker 1

所以,我就是这么找到我的公寓的。

So, like, that's how I found my apartment.

Speaker 2

哦,明白了。

Oh, okay.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

所以如果你的入住时间能对上,你本来可能会和那个家伙一起住。

So you might have lived with that guy if timing

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

所以,如果当时……好吧。

So like if Okay.

Speaker 1

他今年其实要搬到纽约去。

So he's actually moving to New York this year.

Speaker 1

但如果他没搬去纽约,而我今年继续留在华盛顿特区,我们很可能就会一起住了。

But if he didn't move to New York and I stay in DC this year, then we probably would have lived together.

Speaker 1

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 1

哦,我明白了。

Oh, I see.

Speaker 1

但确实如此。

But yeah.

Speaker 1

比如,我曾在Craigslist上找过室友,或者随便哪里,比如Facebook群组之类的。

Like, I looked on Craigslist for like a roommate or like just wherever, like Facebook groups and stuff.

Speaker 1

但我对室友有过很好的经历,也有过相当糟糕的经历。

But I I've had, like, good experience with roommates and then also, like, pretty negative ones.

Speaker 0

嗯。

Mhmm.

Speaker 1

所以对于一个陌生人,我宁愿自己住,也不愿和一个糟糕的室友住在一起。

So especially for a random person, I would rather live by myself than have a bad roommate.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

这很有道理。

That is some sound logic.

Speaker 2

你现在的公寓离工作地点有多近?

So how close is your current apartment to where you work?

Speaker 1

我觉得通勤时间大概在四十到五十分钟之间,具体要看等地铁的时间有多长才能到公司。

It's like I would say it's anywhere between like forty to fifty minute commute depending on how long I have to wait for Metro to get to work.

Speaker 1

走到地铁站大概要五到十分钟,取决于我的步速和红绿灯情况。

It's like a five to ten minute walk to the metro station depending on my pace and the lights.

Speaker 1

然后等火车大概五到十分钟。

And then wait for the train five to ten minutes.

Speaker 1

地铁车程三十分钟,之后我就到公司了。

Thirty minute train ride, and then I'm basically at work.

Speaker 1

但我其实挺喜欢通勤的,因为那是我唯一能专心看书的时间,上下班路上都这样。

But I actually really like to commute because it's like time where I can I that's where I do most of my reading, going to work and coming back?

Speaker 1

我在火车上的时间,我觉得正好能让我沉浸到书里,完全投入并着迷其中。

The amount of time that I'm on the train on, I think is like the perfect amount to like get into the book and like have time to like be invested and enthralled.

Speaker 1

着迷。

Enthralled.

Speaker 1

该死。

Damn.

Speaker 2

真是个博学的小伙子。

What a well read boy.

Speaker 1

我觉得我更喜欢坐三十分钟的地铁,而不是那种只有十到十五分钟的行程——那种情况下你刚坐下,没过五分钟就到站了。

I think I would prefer to have like a thirty minute metro ride than something like ten or fifteen minutes where it feels like you sit down and then you're basically just off like five minutes later.

Speaker 2

那就会变成浪费时间,因为是的。

That becomes like dead time then because Yeah.

Speaker 2

没时间做任何事。

Have no time to do anything.

Speaker 1

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 1

比如,我可能会在这段时间里刷手机,看看Reddit或者Twitter之类的东西。

Like, I would probably just spend that time on my phone like going through Reddit or Twitter or something.

Speaker 2

我通勤时就是这样。

That's me on my commute.

Speaker 2

整个通勤时间都坐着。

Sit my whole commute.

Speaker 1

接受了大约三个小时的培训。

Got trained for like three hours.

Speaker 2

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 2

但下班后我太累了,没法看书,

But I'm too tired to read stuff after work,

Speaker 0

比如在

like, in the

Speaker 2

早上,你知道的。

morning, you know.

Speaker 1

其实,确实如此。

Actually, That's true.

Speaker 1

下班回来的时候,我经常对自己说,好吧。

Coming back from work, there's a lot of times where I'll just I'll tell myself, alright.

Speaker 1

我打算玩一会儿手机,然后再开始看书,结果一抬头,天哪。

I'm gonna go on my phone for a little bit and then start reading and then I'm like, oh, shit.

Speaker 1

我已经快到家了,只差两站了。

I'm like two stops away from home.

Speaker 1

我还是继续玩手机吧。

Let me just stay on my phone.

Speaker 2

我懂。

I know.

Speaker 2

感觉我就是直接放空了。

Feel like I just zone out.

Speaker 2

早上因为我要走得太早,大概七点就出门了。

And in the morning, since I leave so early, I leave around 7AM.

Speaker 2

我累得什么都干不动。

I'm like way too tired to do anything.

Speaker 1

是的

Yeah.

Speaker 1

你的通勤怎么样?

What's your commute like?

Speaker 2

我的通勤基本上是开车二十分钟或十五分钟到车站,然后坐一个多小时的火车,再从火车站步行二十分钟到公司。

So my commute is basically twenty minutes or fifteen minutes of driving to the station, and then a little over an hour of a train ride, then twenty minutes from the train station to my job, walking.

Speaker 2

所以路程挺长的。

So it's pretty long.

Speaker 2

我觉得步行那段区域还不算太差,但我没法看书或做其他事。

I think the walking part the area isn't too bad to walk in, but I can't read or do anything.

Speaker 2

所以有时候我纯粹就是听播客或者音乐。

So sometimes I'm literally just listening to like a podcast or music.

Speaker 2

但有时候确实感觉像浪费了一点时间。

But sometimes it does feel like a little bit of dead time.

Speaker 1

你在旧金山的哪个区域工作?

What part of San Francisco do you work in?

Speaker 2

波特罗山地区。

Potrero Hill area.

Speaker 2

就在密逊湾附近。

Like, near Mission Bay.

Speaker 1

哦,好的。

Oh, okay.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

我有点怀念以前能坐在火车或BART上的时光。

I kind of miss being able to sit on a train or a BART or Yeah.

Speaker 0

我怀念那种感觉,因为现在我开车上班,交通太糟了。

I I miss that because right now I drive to work and traffic sucks.

Speaker 0

所以早上通勤要花四十分钟到一小时。

So it takes me in the morning, it takes, like, forty to an hour.

Speaker 0

而下班回家通常要一小时到一小时二十分钟,最糟的时候就是这样。

And then coming home takes usually about an hour to an hour twenty at at its worst.

Speaker 0

有时候,如果我早点出发,或者可能是周五,可能只需要五十分钟。

Sometimes, if I leave early or maybe it's a Friday, it might take, like, fifty.

Speaker 0

所以开车堵车时唯一糟糕的就是,你实际上只能听点东西。

So the only bad thing is that when you're driving in traffic, the only thing you can really do is listen to stuff.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

最近我没能读太多书,但我可以听播客之类的东西,这还挺不错的。

I haven't been able to read as much lately, but I can consume podcasts and stuff, which is pretty nice.

Speaker 1

你平时都这么做吗?

Is that what you normally do?

Speaker 1

听播客?

Podcasts?

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

我会听播客,或者听音乐,有时候我真会打开比赛直播,然后听解说员讲话。

I'll I'll listen to podcasts or I'll listen to music or Are you honestly, sometimes I I put on the game and then I I listen to the announcers.

Speaker 1

听吧,或者放到手机上边开车边看。

Listen or put it on your phone and watch while driving.

Speaker 0

definitely 看吧。

Definitely watch it.

Speaker 0

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 0

我偶尔会看一点,嗯。

I I watch a little bit Uh-huh.

Speaker 0

在FFN上。

In in At FFN.

Speaker 0

就是在堵车的时候,车真的完全停住了。

In the, you know, in the in the stop and go traffic where it's really really, like, stopped.

Speaker 0

你这是想说服我吗?

Who are you trying to convince me?

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

但,是的。

But, yeah.

Speaker 0

至少它能帮我们打发更多时间,而且幸运的是,还有播音员。

At least it helps pass the time a bit more and then it's I'm luckily, there's announcers.

Speaker 0

所以当我,怎么说呢

So when I How do

Speaker 1

你对有声书有什么看法?

you feel about audiobooks?

Speaker 0

有声书?

Audiobooks?

Speaker 0

我之前确实听过一本。

I actually listened to one before.

Speaker 0

就一本。

Just one.

Speaker 0

哦,其实没有。

It oh, actually, no.

Speaker 0

大概是两本或三本。

Was like two or three.

Speaker 0

其中一本是童话故事,因为全是喜剧内容,所以听起来很容易。

One of them was like a a storybook and it was easy to listen to because it was all comedy.

Speaker 0

等等。

Wait.

Speaker 0

童话故事?

A storybook?

Speaker 0

或者我说的是,像小说那样的。

Or I mean, like Like fiction.

Speaker 0

一本小说。

A fiction book.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

所以

So

Speaker 2

业余的。

Amateur.

Speaker 2

我还以为你在说,比如,

I thought you were talking about, like,

Speaker 0

完全是独自一人。

literally alone.

Speaker 0

不。

No.

Speaker 0

不。

No.

Speaker 0

不。

No.

Speaker 0

像灰姑娘。

Like Cinderella.

Speaker 0

那是一本小说,而且就是一种搞笑的喜剧。

It it was a fiction book and it was just kinda a silly comedy.

Speaker 0

这本书叫《一百岁老人跳窗而出的那些事》。

It's the book called The 100 Year Old Man Who Jumped Out of the Window and Something Something Something.

Speaker 0

它就是一堆

And it's just like a bunch of

Speaker 1

那就是这本书的标题。

his That's title of the book.

Speaker 1

这标题真够长的。

It's a really long title.

Speaker 2

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 2

那些事那些事。

Something Something Something.

Speaker 2

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

这不是什么‘那些事’,这确实是个很长的标题。

It's not something it it is a long title.

Speaker 0

但那是书名的开头部分。

But that's the beginning of the name of the title.

Speaker 0

所以这本书讲的都是他那些倒霉经历的故事。

And so it's just a bunch of stories about his misadventures.

Speaker 0

而且全是喜剧内容,所以听起来很容易,有时候我会稍微走神。

And it's all comedies, so it was easy to listen to because sometimes I would zone out a little.

Speaker 0

但当我重新集中注意力时,并没有错过太多内容。

And when I zone back in, I didn't miss too much.

Speaker 0

但我试着听安东尼·波登的《伟大的厨房》,却实在提不起兴趣。

But I tried to listen to Anthony Bourdain's Great Kitchen But I couldn't really get into it.

Speaker 0

我觉得这是因为需要高度集中注意力。

I think because it required so much concentration.

Speaker 0

我觉得这本书我可能更喜欢直接阅读。

And I think that might be a book that I would I would prefer to just read.

Speaker 2

这是一本传记吗?

Is that a biography?

Speaker 2

像自传吗?

Like autobiography?

Speaker 1

不是。

No.

Speaker 1

我不确定。

I I don't know

Speaker 0

它不一定是一部传记。

if it's like necessarily a biography.

Speaker 1

它更像是一天生活的记录,只不过是以数月为单位的厨师生活。

It's more just like a day in the life of except like months in the life of being Yeah.

Speaker 1

一名厨师。

A chef.

Speaker 2

哦,我明白了。

Oh, I see.

Speaker 1

还有他为什么成为厨师,以及他对生活的感受,我想。

And like why he became a chef and how he feels about his life, I guess.

Speaker 0

我想这有点像一本回忆录。

I guess it's kind of like a memoir.

Speaker 0

可以

Can

Speaker 1

你对。

you Yeah.

Speaker 1

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 1

我会说回忆录是

Would say memoir is a

Speaker 2

一个合适的词吗?

good Is it good word for?

Speaker 0

叙述性的。

Narrated.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

我觉得是的。

I think so.

Speaker 2

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 2

我觉得那种类型的有声书更容易听下去。

I feel like those kinds of audiobooks I find easier to listen to.

Speaker 2

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 2

因为感觉就像我在和

Because it feels like I'm talking to

Speaker 0

他们说话。

them.

Speaker 0

嗯。

Mhmm.

Speaker 0

当他们在跟我讲话的时候。

While they're talking to me.

Speaker 0

我听了安娜·肯德里克的书《小无名之辈》,她亲自朗读了这本书。

I listened to Anna Kendrick's book, Scrappy Little Nobody, and she narrates it.

Speaker 0

她朗读得非常好。

And she's very good at narrating it.

Speaker 0

她的语音语调非常出色。

She has very good, like, vocal inflection.

Speaker 0

她的说话方式非常有她自己的风格。

And the way she's talking, it's just very her.

Speaker 0

她很好地捕捉到了自己的讽刺、机智以及那种轻松愉快的调侃风格。

She captures her own, like, sarcasm and wittiness and that kind of jovial banter esque thing.

Speaker 0

所以当我听这本有声书时,非常容易听进去,也很容易消化。

And so when I listen to that audiobook, it was really easy to listen to and really easy to consume.

Speaker 0

但没错。

But yes.

Speaker 0

我不知道。

I don't know.

Speaker 0

我只是还没找到最适合听有声书的类型。

I just haven't found my perfect genre to listen to audiobooks in.

Speaker 0

所以我只听过几本。

So I've only listened to a couple.

Speaker 1

《厨房机密档案》是安东尼·波登自己朗读的吗?

For Kitchen Confidential, does Anthony Bourdain narrate it?

Speaker 1

还是别人朗读的?

Or is it someone else?

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

我觉得是安东尼·波登。

I think it is Anthony Bourdain.

Speaker 1

我觉得如果是别人朗读的话会很奇怪。

I feel like it would be weird if it was someone else.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

只是因为他讲故事的声音特别好听

Just because he has such a good voice for

Speaker 0

。

telling stories.

Speaker 0

没错。

Definitely.

Speaker 0

我非常喜欢他的节目,当是的。

I loved his shows when Yeah.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

我们曾经

We used

Speaker 2

当他还在世的时候。

When to he was alive.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

今天早上我和妈妈在看《未知之旅》。

I was watching Parts Unknown this morning with my mom.

Speaker 0

嗯。

Mhmm.

Speaker 0

我记得高中时有一位老师经常放他的节目,我觉得是《没有》。

I remember actually one of my teachers in high school would show his think it was No.

Speaker 1

不是。

No.

Speaker 1

那是高一地理课吗?

It was was it freshman year geography?

Speaker 0

AP人文地理。

AP human geo.

Speaker 0

这让我第一次认识了安东尼·波登。

And that's what first introduced me to Anthony Bourdie.

Speaker 0

我当时就想,这家伙太酷了。

And I was like, dude, this guy's so cool.

Speaker 0

他走遍世界,吃遍各地,我们跑题了。

Just travels the world and eats hell of your We digress.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 1

我们刚才在聊什么?

What were we talking about?

Speaker 1

Jisoo,说到你的通勤,你去旧金山,为什么不住在那里?

Jisoo, speaking of your commute, going to SF, how come you don't just live there?

Speaker 2

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 2

我的男朋友和我正在考虑这件事。

I mean, so my boyfriend and I are thinking about it.

Speaker 2

不过旧金山的房租太疯狂了。

It's so crazy expensive up in SF though.

Speaker 2

我们现在住在南湾,住的是一个非常不错的公寓,租金还是比在旧金山租一个大小和条件只有一半的公寓便宜。

Right now we live in South Bay in a really nice apartment and the rent is still cheaper than what it would be to live in an apartment half the size and half as nice in SF.

Speaker 2

我们目前正在权衡各种选择,是的。

We re weighing our options right now and yeah.

Speaker 2

通勤时间很长,但为了住在那里而支付高这么多的房租真的值得吗?

The commute is long but also is it worth it to pay so much more rent to be there?

Speaker 2

你知道的。

You know?

Speaker 2

我不确定。

I don't know.

Speaker 2

阿维,你房租多少钱?

How much do you pay for rent, Avi?

Speaker 1

我付1700美元。

I pay 1,700.

Speaker 1

刚超过1700美元。

Like a little over 1,700.

Speaker 1

但我认为住在城市里比住在南湾值多了。

But I think it's easily worth to to live in a city versus living in South Bay.

Speaker 0

你在市中心吗?

Are you in downtown?

Speaker 0

华盛顿特区有市中心吗?还是说……

Does DC even have a downtown or is it There's

Speaker 1

有一个市中心区域。

a downtown area.

Speaker 1

完全在市中心。

Entirely downtown.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

真的吗?

Really?

Speaker 1

大部分区域都是不同的街区。

Most of it is just like different neighborhoods.

Speaker 2

嗯。

Uh-huh.

Speaker 1

所以我住在这里是为了有个视角,我想,我的公寓就在白宫正北方向十分钟车程的地方。

So I live for perspective, I guess, I live ten minutes directly north of the White House.

Speaker 1

哦。

Oh.

Speaker 1

所以如果你从我的公寓往南走,那里全是政府大楼,或者一些非常高档的餐厅,游说者会带人去那里吃饭,比如牛排馆、海鲜餐厅。

So if you go south of my apartment, then it's all government buildings or like super nice restaurants where lobbyists would take these people out to eat, like steak houses, seafood places.

Speaker 1

所以我通常不去那里。

I So normally don't go there.

Speaker 1

但如果你往北走五分钟,无论哪个方向,都会有两个不同的区域。

But if you go five minutes north in any direction, there's like two different circles.

Speaker 1

我想是杜邦环岛和洛根环岛,这两个地方都有很棒的酒吧、餐厅,是休闲的好去处。

I guess there's Dupont Circle and Logan Circle, which both have really good like bars and food or restaurants, just place to hang out.

Speaker 1

那里有很多活力。

So there's like a lot of life there.

Speaker 0

嗯。

Mhmm.

Speaker 1

而且华盛顿特区足够小,如果你想从城市的一端到另一端,花不了多少时间。

And then DC is small enough where if you wanted to go end to end in the city, it wouldn't take much time at all.

Speaker 1

嗯。

Mhmm.

Speaker 1

而且你大概可以乘地铁往返。

And you could probably metro each way.

Speaker 2

所以你基本上住在城市的中心位置。

So you're basically in like the middle of the city.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

我住在一个相当中心的地点。

I'm in a pretty central location.

Speaker 1

我是真的很喜欢我住的区域。

Like, I really like my area.

Speaker 0

哦。

Oh.

Speaker 0

所以你的房租还算合理,我觉得。

So your rent is reasonable, I would say.

Speaker 2

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 2

太疯狂了。

Crazy.

Speaker 0

100美元租一间单间。

100 for a studio.

Speaker 1

所以在我这个区域,我住的是最差建筑里最好的那栋。

So in my area, it's I'm in the best of the worst buildings in my area.

Speaker 1

因为我的楼外观看起来很旧很破,但里面的单元都翻新过了,如果你走过走廊,就会发现它还是老建筑。

Because my building is the outside looks pretty old and shitty, but the ins like they renovated all the units, but if you walk through like the hallway, then you'll see that it's still an older building.

Speaker 1

嗯。

Mhmm.

Speaker 1

但我的一个朋友就住在街对面,住的是个好很多的公寓楼。

But one of my friends, he lives right across the street in a lot nicer of a building.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

那就是那种豪华公寓楼。

And that's like one of those luxury apartment buildings.

Speaker 1

就像南湾、比尔·皮图斯那些地方新冒出来的公寓一样。

Like all the ones that are popping up in South Bay, Bill Peetus, wherever.

Speaker 1

就是那种类型的。

It's like that.

Speaker 1

所以他每个月要付2300美元左右。

So he pays 2.3 k or something like that.

Speaker 1

他和别人合租。

He has roommates.

展开剩余字幕(还有 480 条)
Speaker 2

一个单间?

A studio?

Speaker 1

不。

No.

Speaker 1

不。

No.

Speaker 1

他住的是三居室。

He has a three bedroom.

Speaker 0

哦。

Oh.

Speaker 0

那太……等等。

That's so He wait.

Speaker 0

他,哦。

He Oh.

Speaker 1

给他自己的房间。

For his own room.

Speaker 1

他付了钱,呃,天啊,真是的。

He paid, like, that's Oh his god.

Speaker 1

哦。

Oh.

Speaker 1

这太多了。

That's a lot.

Speaker 1

所以华盛顿特区的花费确实比我想象的要高得多。

So DC was definitely a lot more expensive than I thought it would be.

Speaker 1

嗯嗯。

Uh-huh.

Speaker 1

但我查了一下之后发现,这里的房价和波士顿差不多。

But I guess after looking it up, was like it's like the same housing market prices as Boston.

Speaker 1

也就是仅次于旧金山和曼哈顿。

So which is just after, like, San Francisco and Manhattan.

Speaker 2

哦。

Oh.

Speaker 2

我不知道。

I don't know.

Speaker 2

租金。

Rent.

Speaker 0

嘿,你猜怎么着?

Hey, guess what?

Speaker 0

我不用付房租。

I pay no rent.

Speaker 1

我真他妈讨厌你。

I fucking hate you.

Speaker 2

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 2

水晶住在地下室。

Crystal is the basement baby

Speaker 0

我们这群人里最底层的。

of our group.

Speaker 0

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 0

但公平地说,好吧。

But to be fair okay.

Speaker 0

首先,我毕业后找到工作时,告诉父母说:嘿,我现在有工作了,可能要搬出去了。

One first of all, when I got a job after graduating, I told my parents, I said, hey, I have a job now so I might move out.

Speaker 0

他们说:等等,别闹了。

And they're like, hold the fuck up.

Speaker 0

我当时说:他们说……

And I was like, They're like

Speaker 1

这不就是你刚说的吗。

That's what just said.

Speaker 0

实际上,他们确实就是那样,只不过想象一下,这一切都是用中文说的,而且没骂人,我想。

Actually, You actually they kind of were like that except also imagine this all in Chinese with no swearing, I guess.

Speaker 0

他们就是说:等等,别闹了。

They're just like, hold the fuck up.

Speaker 0

你不能搬出这个家。

You are not moving out of this house.

Speaker 0

我当时说,为什么?

And I was like, why?

Speaker 0

我要独立了。

I am gonna be independent.

Speaker 0

我现在有工作了,所以我会,你知道的,去住外面。

I have a job now, so I'll, you know, go live.

Speaker 0

他们说,好吧。

And they're like, okay.

Speaker 0

首先,你搬出去会浪费很多钱,因为你完全可以和我们一起住在这里。

First of all, you're wasting so much money by moving out when you can just live here with us.

Speaker 0

而且也不算远,因为我工作在南湾。

And it's not even that far because I work in South Bay.

Speaker 0

只是交通耗掉了大部分时间。

It's just traffic that takes most of the time up.

Speaker 0

于是他们说,你必须待在家里。

And so they said, you have to stay home.

Speaker 0

我们不让你搬出去。

Like, we're not letting you move out.

Speaker 0

我当时想,哦,他们想我了。

And I was like, oh, and they miss me.

Speaker 0

他们希望我待在家里。

They want me to stay at home.

Speaker 0

然后我跟他们谈了这件事。

And then I confronted them about that.

Speaker 0

我当时说

I was like

Speaker 1

你自己在骗自己。

Telling yourself that.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

我真的是认真地问了他们。

I I legitimately asked them.

Speaker 0

我说:哇,你们喜欢我待在家里吗?

I said, wow, do you like having me home?

Speaker 0

我妈妈说:你疯了吗?

And my mom was like, what the fuck?

Speaker 0

我们这是在帮你。

We're we're doing you a favor.

Speaker 0

我当时说:哦,好吧。

And I was like, oh, okay.

Speaker 0

我被击垮了。

Destroyed.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

我的意思是,老实说,是的。

I mean Honestly, Yeah.

Speaker 1

确实有这种感觉。

Feel that though.

Speaker 1

如果我住在湾区或者在湾区工作,我很可能在最初的六个月左右都会住在家里,嗯。

If I lived in or if I worked in The Bay, there's probably a pretty good chance I would've spent the first like six months or so living at home Mhmm.

Speaker 1

然后搬出去。

And then moved out.

Speaker 2

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 2

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 2

我原本也是这么计划的。

That was my plan too.

Speaker 2

如果我父母还住在湾区,我肯定会在家住上一年左右。

If my parents had stayed in The Bay, then I definitely would have stayed at home for, like, a year

Speaker 0

或者两年。

or two.

Speaker 0

至少是这样。

At least.

Speaker 0

Jisoo,她父母抛弃了她。

Jisoo, her parents ditched her.

Speaker 0

到底发生了什么?再讲一遍?

What what exactly happened again?

Speaker 0

好像是在我们快毕业的第四年的时候。

It was something I think it was in fourth year when we were almost graduated.

Speaker 0

你父母给你扔了个重磅炸弹。

Your parents dropped a bomb on you.

Speaker 2

基本上,在我们大学第四年刚开始的时候,我计划搬回湾区和父母一起住,然后在那里慢慢找工作,因为不用付房租。

Basically, break of our fourth year of college, I had plans to move back move back home to with my parents in the bay and then look for jobs there at, like, a leisurely place because I wouldn't have to pay for rent.

Speaker 2

但在寒假期间,我父母告诉我,我爸爸在韩国得到了一个很好的工作机会,所以他们决定接受并搬回去。

And then winter break, my parents told me that my dad had a really good job offer in Korea so they were gonna take it and move back.

Speaker 2

于是他们卖掉了我从小长大的房子和所有东西,我不得不自己找地方住。

So they sold my childhood or they sold our house and everything that I was there from a child and I basically had to find housing for myself.

Speaker 2

但我的父母至少愿意为我提供一年的房租。

But my parents did offer to provide rent for me for at least a year.

Speaker 2

嗯。

Mhmm.

Speaker 2

这样我就能有时间找工作、安顿下来,至少还能存点钱。

That way I would have time to, like, job hunt and settle down and I would have at least some savings.

Speaker 2

但从八月起,我就得靠自己了。

But, yeah, from August, I'm on my own.

Speaker 2

这真不容易。

That's tough.

Speaker 1

他们当时说:‘天哪,耶稣要回家了。’

They were like, oh god, Jesus coming home.

Speaker 1

我们得赶紧走。

We need to leave now.

Speaker 2

紧急撤离。

Emergency escape.

Speaker 2

说到这个

Speaking of

Speaker 0

父母,你们是怎么平衡看望父母或与父母保持联系的呢?

parents, how do you all balance visiting your parents or, like, keeping in contact with your parents?

Speaker 0

就拿我来说,有时候我就把自己关在房间里,都不见父母,这样不好。

I guess even for me, sometimes I just stay hold up in my room and I don't see my parents, which is bad.

Speaker 0

但总的来说,对我来说,只要走下楼,说声‘嘿,妈妈’就容易多了。

But it's easier in general for me to just, you know, walk downstairs and be like, hey, mom.

Speaker 0

嘿,爸爸。

Hey, dad.

Speaker 0

你今天怎么样?

How's your day?

Speaker 0

那你们俩是怎么和父母保持联系的?尤其是阿维,你现在远在美洲的另一端。

So how how do you two keep in contact with your parents and especially for Avi because you're all the way on the other side of America now.

Speaker 1

尤其是对我而言。

Especially for me.

Speaker 1

她的父母根本不在家

Her parents are literally not in

Speaker 2

我在南方,不好意思。

I'm the South sorry.

Speaker 2

AP人文地理。

AP human genie.

Speaker 2

对不起。

I'm sorry.

Speaker 0

我是说Avi,他就在国家的另一端。

I meant Avi who is, you know, only across the country.

Speaker 0

还有Jisoo,她几乎在地球的另一端。

And then Jisoo who is, like, halfway across the globe.

Speaker 1

自从上大学以来,我就没在家住了,因为我在伊利诺伊州上学,离湾区很远。

Well, I haven't been at home since college because I went to school in Illinois, pretty far from the Bay.

Speaker 1

但我觉得,自从我高中毕业离开家后,我和父母的关系反而更亲密了。

But I feel like my like my relationship with my parents got a lot closer since I left since like I graduated high school.

Speaker 1

因为我记得在高中时,我是个很糟糕的孩子。

Because I remember in high school, was like a shitty kid.

Speaker 1

我整天待在房间里,不怎么和父母说话。

I would just stay in my room, hold up all day, like not really talk to my parents.

Speaker 0

你是在想说什么吗,Avi?

Are are you trying to say something, Avi?

Speaker 1

我在做个小播客。

I'm sub podcasting.

Speaker 1

哦。

Oh.

Speaker 1

哦,不。

Oh, no.

Speaker 1

我可能每周会和妈妈聊四到五次。

I probably talk to my mom four to five times a week.

Speaker 0

哇。

Wow.

Speaker 0

这真的很

That's really

Speaker 2

好。

good.

Speaker 2

这真的很频繁。

That's really often.

Speaker 1

因为她经常给我打电话。

Because she calls me a lot.

Speaker 1

如果我连续两天不接电话,她就会说,天啊,你从来不接电话。

And then if I don't pick up for like two days in a she's like, oh my god, you never pick up your phone.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

她总是跟我抱怨我哥哥从不接电话。

She always like complains to me about how my brother never picks up his phone.

Speaker 0

哦,天哪。

Oh, no.

Speaker 2

你哥哥比你大吗?

Is your brother older?

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

他大两岁。

He's two years older.

Speaker 1

自从我搬出去后,我和父母的关系明显更亲近了。

My parents and I have definitely gotten closer since I've moved away.

Speaker 1

当我回家时,如果我和父母都在家,我会 downstairs 坐着。

And then when I come back home, if I'm at home and they're at home, I'll, like, sit downstairs.

Speaker 1

我们会一起看电视,只是待在一起聊聊天。

Like, we'll watch TV together, just, like, hang out and chat.

Speaker 0

真温馨。

How wholesome.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 1

前几天我和我妈妈一起看了《权力的游戏》。

I watched Game of Thrones with my mom the other day.

Speaker 0

天哪。

Oh my.

Speaker 0

你妈妈也看?

Your mom watches?

Speaker 1

所以她看到山丘那边的奥伯伦了。

So she's on she got to the mountain v Oberyn.

Speaker 1

哦。

Oh.

Speaker 1

当演到战斗场景或者打斗的时候

And when it got to the battle scene or like the fight

Speaker 0

第一季第四集的剧透场景。

Spoilers scene first season Four episode.

Speaker 0

如果有人回来了,什么?

If anyone is back What

Speaker 2

我们现在到哪一集了?

are we on?

Speaker 2

我们现在进行到第几季了?

What season are we on right now?

Speaker 2

第八季。

Eight.

Speaker 2

哦,好的。

Oh, okay.

Speaker 2

四年前的季了。

Four seasons ago.

Speaker 2

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

所以当剧情发展到他们即将开战时,我突然说:等等,暂停一下。

So it got to the point where they're about to fight and I was like, wait, pause it.

Speaker 1

我要走了。

I'm leaving.

Speaker 1

我不想看这个。

I don't wanna see this.

Speaker 1

哦。

Oh.

Speaker 1

她就说:等等,你什么意思?

And she was like, wait, what do you mean?

Speaker 1

我说:十五分钟后跟我聊聊。

I was like, talk to me in, like, fifteen minutes.

Speaker 1

她过了五十到十五分钟后下楼,说:我简直不敢相信刚才发生了那种事。

She comes downstairs, like, fifty to fifteen minutes later, she's like, I can't believe that just happened.

Speaker 1

什么?你平时看什么类型的节目?

What, like, what kind of shows you watch?

Speaker 0

那件事发生的时候,我正躺在床上,半夜里看的。

When when that happened, I was watching a like, in my bed at midnight or something.

Speaker 0

当那个场景发生时,我太震惊了,不得不倒带重看一遍。

And when it happened, that scene, I I was I was so shocked I had to rewind and watch it again.

Speaker 0

等等。

Wait.

Speaker 0

发生什么事了?

What happened?

Speaker 1

就为了听这个。

Just to hear that.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

basically,天啊。

Basically oh my god.

Speaker 0

basically,这个巨大的家伙,好吧。

Basically, this giant guy okay.

Speaker 0

有个叫‘山’的巨汉,嗯。

There's a giant dude called the Mountain Uh-huh.

Speaker 0

对抗那个叫奥伯隆的瘦弱家伙。

Versus this like skinnier guy called Oberon.

Speaker 1

嗯。

Uh-huh.

Speaker 1

一个讲究技巧的人。

A man of finesse.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 0

然后呢,这个小个子,他更快、更聪明。

And then this, you know, the smaller guy, he's like quicker and smarter.

Speaker 0

所以他智胜了那个大个子。

So he outsmarts the big guy.

Speaker 0

但接着

But then

Speaker 1

他的傲慢占了上风,是的。

His hubris takes over Yes.

Speaker 1

当他把山人压制住的时候。

When he has the mountain pinned.

Speaker 0

嗯。

Mhmm.

Speaker 0

山人躺在地上,那个瘦小的家伙心想:好了,我赢了。

The mountain is on the ground and the skinny guy, he's like, okay, I've won.

Speaker 0

然后他就带着这种傲慢到处走来走去。

And he's, you know, just marching around with this arrogance.

Speaker 0

嗯。

Uh-huh.

Speaker 0

接着山人突然醒过来,把他绊倒,然后取得优势,真的就像

And then the mountain, he just wakes up and he trips him and then he gains advantage and he literally, like

Speaker 1

用手抓住奥伯伦——那个瘦小家伙的头颅,直接捏碎了。

Takes Obrien, like, the skinny guy's skull in his hands and just He crushes it.

Speaker 1

你能听到骨头碎裂的声音

And you can, like, hear the crunch of

Speaker 0

所有的骨头,他用拇指按进他们的眼睛里。

all the bones in And the he does it with his thumbs in his eyes.

Speaker 0

所以有血从他们的眼睛里流出来,当他们被压住时。

So there's blood, like, dripping out of his eyes as they get gate in.

Speaker 1

镜头确保你看到每一个细节,听到每一个声音。

And the camera make sure you see every single part of it and hear every single part of it.

Speaker 0

那是一个血腥的场景。

It was a gruesome scene.

Speaker 0

太恶心了。

That's disgusting.

Speaker 1

确实是一些令人难忘的《权力的游戏》时刻。

Definitely some very memorable Game of Thrones moments.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

总之

Anyway

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

你和父母的关系怎么样?

How about how how's your relationship been with your parents?

Speaker 0

你试着去探望他们,尽可能多见面,感觉如何?

How has it been trying to visit them and just, like, see them as much as possible?

Speaker 2

嗯,我父母搬过来没多久。

Well, so my parent it hasn't been that long since my parents moved.

Speaker 2

他们实际上是在一月搬的。

They actually moved in January January.

Speaker 2

所以我们还没来得及互相探望。

So we haven't had time to visit each other yet.

Speaker 2

但下周我妈妈要来看我,太好了。

But my mom is coming up next week Yay.

Speaker 2

来看我。

To visit me.

Speaker 2

太好了。

Yay.

Speaker 1

调高音量。

Turn up.

Speaker 2

然后我打算在夏天结束时去韩国探望家人。

And then I'm and then I'm going to visit my family in Korea at the end of summer.

Speaker 2

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 2

我觉得现在有点奇怪,因为有时差。

I think it's like a little bit weird now because there's time zones.

Speaker 2

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 2

哦,是的。

Oh, yeah.

Speaker 2

所以我基本上只能在早上很早或者晚上很晚的时候和妈妈通话。

So I basically have to talk to my mom really early in the morning or really late at night.

Speaker 2

而且基本上都是发短信。

And it's really mostly just texting.

Speaker 2

我的意思是,我不是那种喜欢打电话的人,我妈妈也不是。

I mean, I'm not a big phone call kind of person and neither is my mom.

Speaker 2

自从她搬走后,我们根本没通过电话。

So we haven't called each other on the phone at all since she moved.

Speaker 2

但我们经常发短信。

But we text like a lot.

Speaker 2

比如,好的。

Like Okay.

Speaker 2

每隔两三天吧。

Every two, three days.

Speaker 2

我们会进行很长的聊天之类的。

Like, we'll have like a long conversation and stuff.

Speaker 0

在你这种情况下,发短信要好得多。

In your situation, having texting is so Much better.

Speaker 0

是的

Yeah.

Speaker 0

它

It

Speaker 2

是的

is.

Speaker 2

她经常发给我我们狗狗的照片。

She sends me a lot of pictures of our dog still.

Speaker 2

哎呀。

Aw.

Speaker 2

然后她还会发给我她和我爸爸一起的自拍。

And then she sends me like selfies of what her and my dad are up to.

Speaker 1

那你会把这些狗狗的照片转发给我吗?

So do you like forward those dog pictures to me?

Speaker 2

但情况不同,因为我是个独生子女,一直和家人非常亲密。

It's different though because I was always really really close to my family because I'm an only child.

Speaker 2

但现在父母不在了,我就只剩下贾斯汀了,你知道的。

But now that my parents aren't here, then I don't have, you know Justin only.

Speaker 2

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 2

比如,我没有妈妈可以去寻求建议了。

Like, I I don't have my mom to go to for advice.

Speaker 2

而且,我爸爸也不会跟我讲很长的商业故事,带我去打高尔夫或者徒步了。

And, you know, my dad doesn't tell me, like, long business stories and, like, take me golfing or hiking.

Speaker 2

所以。

So

Speaker 0

天啊。

Oh my god.

Speaker 0

但你难道不

But don't you

Speaker 2

讨厌打高尔夫吗?

hate golfing?

Speaker 2

等等。

Wait.

Speaker 2

不。

No.

Speaker 2

我喜欢打高尔夫。

I love golfing.

Speaker 0

哦。

Oh.

Speaker 0

好吧。

Okay.

Speaker 0

不错。

Nice.

Speaker 0

因为我也很喜欢打高尔夫。

Because I I also love golfing.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 2

我们可以去打高尔夫。

We can go golfing.

Speaker 2

小时候。

As a kid.

Speaker 2

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 2

我们可以去打高尔夫。

We can go golfing.

Speaker 2

太棒了。

Lit.

Speaker 1

我才不想去呢。

The fuck I wanna come.

Speaker 2

哦。

Oh.

Speaker 2

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 0

阿维,下次你回湾区的时候,我们一起去打高尔夫吧。

Avi, next time you're back in the bay, we can all go golfing.

Speaker 0

我喜欢打高尔夫。

I love golfing.

Speaker 0

我们走吧。

Let's go

Speaker 2

去辛纳巴尔。

to Cinnabar.

Speaker 2

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 2

但是,是的,确实不一样了。

But, yeah, it's definitely different.

Speaker 2

我现在感觉自己更像个成年人了,我觉得。

I feel like a lot more of an adult now, think.

Speaker 2

我就像被扔进了成年世界一样。

I I'm like I was like thrown into adulthood.

Speaker 2

但确实,我就是很喜欢自己照顾自己。

But, yeah, I just like a lot of taking care of myself.

Speaker 2

回家后没人给我做饭。

No one to really cook for me when I come home.

Speaker 2

我肯定Obi也有同样的感受。

And I'm sure Obi feels the same way.

Speaker 2

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 2

就是得自己照顾自己。

It's like taking care of yourself.

Speaker 1

当你自己付账单,而父母不在身边作为后盾时——我父母总体上还是我的后盾,但不再是即时的后盾了。

When you pay your own bills and you don't have your parents nearby as a safety net like, still have my parents as a safety net in general, but not as an immediate safety net.

Speaker 1

嗯。

Mhmm.

Speaker 1

这简直让人吓一跳。

That's like, oh shit.

Speaker 1

我现在是成年人了。

I'm an adult now.

Speaker 1

我必须为自己的行为负责。

I have to be responsible for my own actions.

Speaker 1

关于发短信给父母和打电话的问题,我 definitely 更喜欢打电话,因为父母发短信时语法特别差。

To that thing about texting my parents versus calling, I definitely prefer calling my parents just because my parents use terrible grammar when they text.

Speaker 1

真的吗?

Oh, really?

Speaker 1

这让我特别困扰。

And it bothers me so much.

Speaker 0

我妈妈有时候会用中文发短信。

My mom sometimes just texts in Chinese.

Speaker 0

实际上,我有时候也会用中文给我妈妈发短信,这样她能更好地理解,然后她会回复一个‘好的’或者‘k’

Actually, sometimes I'll text my mom in Chinese so that she can understand better and then she'll respond with an okay or a k

Speaker 2

一直这样。

all the time.

Speaker 2

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 2

我和我妈妈只用韩语发短信。

Me and my mom only text in Korean.

Speaker 1

我很高兴。

I'm glad.

Speaker 1

你的父母会不会看了却不回复你?

Do your parents ever read but no reply you?

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

就像我和我爸爸之间那样。

It's like me and my dad's.

Speaker 1

真的吗?

Really?

Speaker 1

每当我给我爸发消息时,如果你看我和我爸爸的对话,就全是我在说,我在说,我在说。

Whenever I text my if you look at my conversation with my dad, it's just like me me me.

Speaker 1

哦,好吧。

Oh, okay.

Speaker 1

然后他可能偶尔会发一次,比如:嘿,给我打个电话。

And then he'll maybe once, like, one sense be like, hey, call me.

Speaker 1

就这样了。

And that's it.

Speaker 0

哇。

Wow.

Speaker 0

我和我妈的聊天就是我一直在说一堆话,然后她的回复就一个‘嗯。’

My for my text with my mom, it's just like me saying all this shit and then her response is k period.

Speaker 0

下一次还是这样,‘嗯。’

And then the next time, same thing, k period.

Speaker 1

就像给教授发邮件一样。

Like trying to email a professor or something.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

我只是说,好吧,妈妈。

I'm just like, okay, mom.

Speaker 0

我喜欢你们俩和父母的关系都这么好,甚至更好。

I I like that you both have still such a good, if not better relationship with your parents.

Speaker 0

我现在住在家里,反而在家里还会想家,这对我来说很奇怪,因为我通常从来不觉得想家。

Me currently living at home, I actually get homesick living at home, which is weird for me because I normally don't ever get homesick.

Speaker 1

等等。

Wait.

Speaker 1

解释一下。

Explain that.

Speaker 1

怎么是啊。

How Yeah.

Speaker 1

这怎么

Does that

Speaker 0

那这是怎么运作的?

So How does that work?

Speaker 0

我看着我的父母,心里想,哇,我真应该珍惜毕业后这段和父母在一起的时光,因为我知道将来我肯定会搬出去住。

I look at my parents and I think to myself, wow, I should really cherish this time that I'm spending with my parents post grad because I know in the future I'm definitely gonna move out.

Speaker 0

所以我发现自己经常做的一件事就是和父母开玩笑。

And so what I've caught myself doing a lot is I'll joke around with my parents.

Speaker 0

我会说:嘿,妈妈,爸爸,我要永远和你们住在一起。

I'll be like, hey, mom, dad, I'm gonna live with you guys forever.

Speaker 0

他们说:好吧。

And they're like, okay.

Speaker 0

他们说:不行。

They're like, no.

Speaker 2

起来。

Get up.

Speaker 2

我的我的

My my

Speaker 0

爸爸说:哦,你不会结婚吗?

dad was like, oh, you're not getting married?

Speaker 0

我当时说:哦,你们真的不希望我永远和你们住在一起吗?

I was like, oh, you you don't want me to live with you guys forever?

Speaker 1

他们说:好吧,我们要搬到师大去了。

They're like, okay, we're moving to Shida.

Speaker 1

但是

But

Speaker 0

我只是不经意间会开玩笑地说这些话。

it I just, like, kinda catch myself jokingly saying these things.

Speaker 0

但我内心的感受是,我应该更加珍惜和他们在一起的时光。

But how I'm feeling is like, oh, I I should cherish this time with them more.

Speaker 0

我应该更主动地花时间陪他们,因为我现在真的和他们住在一个屋檐下。

I should try to make more of an effort to spend time with them because I literally am living in the same house with them right now.

Speaker 0

这最近一直是我思考的问题,我正试着慢慢改变,而不是总把自己关在房间里。

That's something that I've been thinking about lately and trying to work on slowly instead of holding myself up in my room all the time.

Speaker 1

不过我能理解你的感受。

I kinda see where you're coming from though.

Speaker 1

因为我觉得,如果你和他们住在一起,可能会对这段关系感到过度饱和。

Because I think if you live in the same house as them, you can get that over saturation of the relationship.

Speaker 1

嗯哼。

Mhmm.

Speaker 1

比如,我绝对不能再和父母住在一起了,就拿去年夏天回家那两周,或者只要我回家待上两周,我就会觉得:好了,够了,我想回到我自己的空间了。

Like, I definitely can't live with my parents anymore based on the two weeks or like last summer when I was back home or just like if I've been back home for like a two week period of time, I'm like, okay, this is enough and I'm ready to like go back to my own space now.

Speaker 1

因为我真的会被他们的一些行为气到,是啊。

Because I just get so annoyed Oh, yeah.

Speaker 1

因为他们做的某些事情。

From some of the things that they do.

Speaker 0

我很幸运,我父母基本不会打扰我,他们并不烦人。

I'm I'm lucky enough that my parents don't really bother me in like, they're not overly bothersome.

Speaker 0

他们就是觉得,Crystal在房间里,管她干嘛呢。

They they're just like, oh, Crystal's in her room doing whatever the fuck she does.

Speaker 0

我的房间基本上就像一个没有厨房的工作室,我一个人在房间里也能过得去。

My room is basically like a studio without a kitchen and I can survive in this room.

Speaker 2

所以你的房间就是一个房间。

So your room is a room.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

或者说,你知道的,我根本不需要离开房间去上厕所。

Or I mean, you know, I I don't even have to leave my room to go bathroom.

Speaker 0

我也不需要离开房间去工作。

And I I don't have to leave my room to do my work.

Speaker 0

我所有的游戏都在房间里。

All my games are in my room.

Speaker 0

所以有时候我一整天都见不到父母。

So sometimes it's I don't see my parents for a day.

Speaker 0

我正努力做得更好,多离开房间,多陪陪家人。

I'm trying to be better about exiting my room and being with my family a little more.

Speaker 0

我最近做的一件挺酷的事是,和我妈一起看一部中国剧。

One one cool thing that I've done lately is I've been watching this Chinese drama with my mom.

Speaker 2

但这对我来说很有趣,因为当我跟父母住在一起的时候

That's so interesting to me though because when I was living with my parents

Speaker 1

嗯。

Mhmm.

Speaker 2

我们基本上每天晚饭后都会一起度过两三个小时的家庭时光。

We basically had family time every night for, like, two, three hours after dinner.

Speaker 2

所以通常是六点到七点吃饭,然后七点到十点一起看电视,或者聊天、交流。

So it would be, like, eat from, like, six to seven and then seven to ten was watching TV together or, like, catching up and talking.

Speaker 2

嗯。

Mhmm.

Speaker 2

所以如果我整天都在家,却一整天都见不到父母,这简直让我难以想象。

So the idea of not seeing my parents for a day, especially if I was at home the whole time, like Yeah.

Speaker 2

这让我觉得不可思议。

That's, like, mind boggling to I

Speaker 0

我觉得这是因为我会跑上楼,然后想:我有一些个人项目要做,或者有工作要处理,或者有作业,你知道的。

think it's just because I'll I'll run upstairs and be, like, I I have, like, personal projects to do or I have work to do or, like, homework, you know.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

我觉得这几乎成了一种习惯,从我上高中或初中时就开始了,那时候就是得上楼做作业,做自己的事情。

I I think it was almost a habit that was grown from when I was in high school or junior high where it's just like, I gotta go upstairs and do my homework and, like, do my own stuff.

Speaker 0

我会在周末或者有空的时候才和家人一起度过家庭时光。

I'll we'll do family time on the weekends or something when I have quote unquote time.

Speaker 0

因为你

Because you

Speaker 1

知道吗,你觉得呢?

know do you think Mhmm.

Speaker 1

你有没有从高中时那种必须上楼做自己事情的心态中走出来?

You've never fallen out of that mentality of I need to go just run upstairs and do my own thing from that high school mentality?

Speaker 1

是这样吗?

Is that what it is?

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

有点吧。

Kind of.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

因为我在高中时就是这样,我们从来没有什么家庭时光,我想。

Because that was me in high school and like because we never had family time, I guess.

Speaker 1

因为我爸爸总是回来得特别晚。

Because my dad would always come home super late.

Speaker 1

所以高中时,我记得有些日子会连续三四天,我可能只在早上见到我爸。

So a lot of days I remember in high school there would be maybe like three to four day periods where I just would maybe see my dad in the morning.

Speaker 1

如果早上没见到他,我可能一整天都见不到他。

If I didn't see him in the morning, I probably wouldn't see him at all.

Speaker 1

所以我完全理解克里斯为什么会有这种感受。

So I definitely understand where Chris is coming from for this.

Speaker 2

我在想,这会不会也跟有没有兄弟姐妹有关。

I wonder if that's also like a having siblings versus being an only child thing.

Speaker 2

哦。

Oh.

Speaker 2

因为可能吧。

Because Maybe.

Speaker 2

你们俩都有兄弟姐妹。

You guys both have siblings.

Speaker 2

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 2

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 2

所以家庭时光就是四个人一起度过。

So family time would be all four people together.

Speaker 2

相比只有我、妈妈和爸爸的情况,要抓住这样的时间难多了。

And, like, catching that kind of time is a lot harder than if it was just me, my mom, and my dad.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

我哥哥和我很像。

My brother is similar to me.

Speaker 0

他也总是待在房间里玩游戏或者做自己的事情。

He also stays hold up in his room and plays games or does his own work.

Speaker 1

我哥哥做了什么?

What did my brother do?

Speaker 1

我想我待在房间里太久,都没注意他做什么。

I guess I was holding up in my room too much to know what he was doing.

Speaker 1

所以

So

Speaker 0

之前,我们刚聊了关于和父母的关系,以及这在成长过程中是如何影响我们目前的生活状况的。

earlier, we just talked about our relationship with our parents and a little bit about how that was growing up and how it's affected our current living situation.

Speaker 0

现在我们想转到如何让你的家更有家的感觉,或者在我这种情况中,如何让你的房间更有家的感觉。

And so now we're trying to move on to how to make your house a home or I guess in my case, your room a home.

Speaker 1

我想在我这种情况中,一个

I guess also in my case, a

Speaker 2

房间变成家。

room a home.

Speaker 2

哦,是的。

Oh, yeah.

Speaker 2

所以对我来说,我有一个室友,他是我男朋友。

So in my case, I have a roommate who is my boyfriend.

Speaker 2

把我们的一居室公寓变成家是一个有趣的过程,因为我们得找既符合预算又符合我们审美风格的便宜家具。

Us turning our one bedroom apartment into a home was an interesting process because we had to find cheaper furniture that would fit our budget, but then it also had to match the aesthetics that we wanted for ourselves.

Speaker 2

所以詹姆斯,他的审美偏好是喜欢极简风格,颜色统一,全是灰色、全是黑色。

So James, the aesthetic preference he has is he likes really minimalistic, same color, like, gray, everything, black, everything.

Speaker 2

而我则更喜欢可爱、温馨风格的东西。

And for me, I feel like I like more cutesy, homely looking stuff.

Speaker 2

嗯。

Mhmm.

Speaker 2

所以我有很多毛绒玩具和很多书。

So I'm the one with a lot of stuffed animals, a lot of books.

Speaker 2

我的毯子是我妈妈给我做的被子,上面到处都是鲜艳的色彩。

My blanket is like this quilt that my mom made me and everything has like a colorful touch.

Speaker 2

而詹姆斯,他所有的东西都是黑色的。

And then James, everything that he owns is black.

Speaker 2

太好了。

Oh, great.

Speaker 2

有时候是白色的。

Or sometimes white.

Speaker 2

有时候吧。

Sometimes.

Speaker 2

哇。

Wow.

Speaker 1

我正在稍微伸展一下。

I'm stretching out a little there.

Speaker 2

所以当我们试图装饰房子时,我想挂很多照片,把艺术品贴在墙上。

So definitely when we try to decorate the house, I wanted to hang up a lot of pictures and like put up art on the wall.

Speaker 2

我以前在墙上挂了很多和朋友的照片,用绳子串起来之类的。

I used have like a lot of my pictures with friends just hung up on like strings on the wall and stuff like that.

Speaker 2

但是一起搬进来后,我们就把所有这些东西都取下来了。

But once we moved in together, we took all of it down.

Speaker 2

现在布置得简单了一些,但我还是在各处保留了我自己的个性装饰。

And now it's a little bit more simple, but I still have all my personal touches everywhere.

Speaker 2

所以这其实是一个彼此妥协的过程。

So that was like a process of meeting each other in the middle.

Speaker 0

现在你住的是出租房,不能在墙上打洞,挂东西会不会很困难?

Is it is it hard to hang stuff up because your apartment right now is rented and I think you're not allowed to make holes in the walls.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 1

或者,比如,去问问看。

Or if, like, ask Yeah.

Speaker 1

房东

The landlord

Speaker 0

哦,是的。

Oh, yeah.

Speaker 1

你可以这么做。

What you can do.

Speaker 2

你可以钉钉子,只要事后填平就行,嗯。

You could probably put in nails as long as you fill it or Mhmm.

Speaker 2

或者付点钱之类的。

Pay for it or anything like that.

Speaker 2

但我们太懒了,没去弄。

But we were too lazy to do that.

Speaker 2

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 2

一样。

Same.

Speaker 2

我们发现了免钉胶,哦,是的。

And we found that command hooks Oh, yeah.

Speaker 2

那种背面有强力胶带的。

The ones that have, like, the strong tape on the back.

Speaker 2

这种几乎适用于所有东西。

That pretty much worked for everything.

Speaker 2

所以我们挂了一些带钩子的,可以放钥匙。

So we hung up some with, like, a hook that we could put our keys on.

Speaker 2

如果我想挂照片,我就会再买这种。

And then if we wanted to hang up pictures, I would just buy that too.

Speaker 1

我公寓里没什么装饰品,因为我一直懒得弄。

I don't have much decor or decorations in my apartment just because I've been super lazy about that.

Speaker 1

就像我

Like I

Speaker 0

我是极简主义。

have minimalist.

Speaker 1

这就是我对别人说的。

That's what I tell people.

Speaker 0

比如詹姆斯。

Like James.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

我确实拥有所有的家具。

I definitely have all my furniture.

Speaker 1

你一进门,就能明显看出这里有沙发、地毯、咖啡桌、床,所有这些东西。

When you walk in, it's definitely a place where you have like couch, rug, coffee table, bed, all that stuff.

Speaker 1

你有

Do you

Speaker 2

地毯吗?

have a rug?

Speaker 1

我确实有一块地毯。

I do have a rug.

Speaker 2

那很不错,那很不错。

That's pretty That's pretty good.

Speaker 2

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 2

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 2

颜色太完美了。

Color is Perfect.

Speaker 1

你妈妈是建筑师兼设计师。

Of your mom being an architect slash designer.

Speaker 1

哦。

Oh.

Speaker 0

我有时候会忘记这一点。

Sometimes I forget that.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

你妈妈帮你设计过房间吗?

Did your mom help you design your room?

Speaker 1

哦,是的。

Oh, yes.

Speaker 2

天哪。

Oh my god.

Speaker 2

哦,等等。

Oh, wait.

Speaker 2

真好啊。

That's so nice.

Speaker 2

很可爱。

Cute.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

所以我搬过去的时候,她要么去了宜家,要么陪我去,然后我们买了好多东西。

So when I moved out there, she like, went to Ikea or she came with me and then we went to Ikea, bought a bunch of shit.

Speaker 1

基本上,买完这些东西后,我们就把它们都布置好了。

Basically, after we got all that stuff, we set it up.

Speaker 1

还有一两件事我想补充一下,或者她会说,哦,你应该在这里放这个,那里放那个。

There's still like a couple things I wanted to fill in or she was like, oh, you should do this here or this there.

Speaker 1

所以从那以后,我做的每一个决定都会问:‘妈妈,你觉得这个行吗?’

So basically every decision I made after that, I'd be like, hey mom, do you think this will work?

Speaker 1

天啊。

My god.

Speaker 1

真的吗?你觉得这个放在这里合适吗?

That's so Do you think this will fit here?

Speaker 2

我能要你妈妈的同意吗?

Can I get your mom's Yes?

Speaker 1

我发你一张名片。

I'll send you a business card.

Speaker 1

关于装饰,我 definitely 想挂一些我去过的地方的照片,或者任何我觉得酷的东西。

In terms of decorations, I definitely wanna put up pictures and shit of, I don't know, places I've been or just whatever I think is cool.

Speaker 1

但我在这方面真的特别懒。

But I'm incredibly lazy with that.

Speaker 1

嗯嗯。

Mhmm.

Speaker 1

而且我也不知道在墙上钉钉子之类的事情该怎么做才合适。

And I also don't know what the protocol is for nails in the wall and things like that.

Speaker 1

因为我试过那种塑料挂钩,比如3M钩子,但它们总是掉下来,根本不适合我。

Because I've tried using like those plastic hooks, like the three m hooks, and those have just fallen and don't really work out for me.

Speaker 0

也许你方法用错了。

Maybe you're doing it wrong.

Speaker 1

我确实有可能用错了方法。

There's a chance I'm doing it wrong.

Speaker 1

这当然是有可能的。

It's, you know, it's definitely in the realm of possibilities.

Speaker 1

但我真的很想自己种些香草。

One thing I really wanna do is grow my own herbs though.

Speaker 1

我觉得香草

I feel like that herbs

Speaker 2

你要说大麻。

You're gonna say weed.

Speaker 2

香草。

Herbs.

Speaker 2

不是。

No.

Speaker 2

我正想试着

I'm trying to

Speaker 1

种点罗勒,兄弟。

grow some basil, dude.

Speaker 2

罗勒?

Basil?

Speaker 2

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 2

我听说这很容易。

I heard it's really easy.

Speaker 2

唯一的问题是,我听说它会招虫子。

The only thing is like it I heard it brings in bugs.

Speaker 1

哦。

Oh.

Speaker 1

哦,那算了。

Oh, never mind then.

Speaker 1

我们把它拿掉吧。

We'll take that back off.

Speaker 2

我知道。

I know.

Speaker 0

我觉得小葱应该很容易种。

I think green onion is supposed to

Speaker 2

特别容易。

be really easy.

Speaker 2

哦,你只要把葱头放进像广口瓶这样的容器里就行。

Oh, you just put the bulb in until like a mason jar.

Speaker 0

然后你就可以直接剪下来,它还会继续长。

And then you can literally just snip it right off and then it'll just keep growing.

Speaker 0

就像格鲁特一样。

It's like groot.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

哦,对。

Oh, yeah.

Speaker 1

基本上是这样。

Essentially.

Speaker 1

我听说种罗勒和其他香草时,得用荧光灯。

I've heard for basil and like other herbs, you have to get the the fluorescent lamps.

Speaker 2

哦。

Oh.

Speaker 2

我们说的是罗勒,还是罗勒?

Because we talking about basil or are we talking about basil?

Speaker 1

我们不是在谈论大麻,这一点要给大家澄清一下。

We are not talking about marijuana to clear that up for everyone.

Speaker 1

因为华盛顿特区的阳光不如这里多,或者根本没多少阳光。

Because there's not much sunlight or there's not as much sunlight in DC as there is here.

Speaker 1

哦。

Oh.

Speaker 1

而且我也没有露台之类的地方,所以只能养在公寓里。

And plus I don't have a terrace or anything, so it has to be inside my apartment.

Speaker 1

我知道我一个朋友,她种薄荷、罗勒,还有香茅之类的。

So I know one of my friends, she grows mint, basil, lemongrass too, think.

Speaker 1

哇。

And Wow.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

所以她们就用那种荧光灯,24小时不停地照着所有植物。

So they just have one of those fluorescent lamps just pointing at all plants like twenty four seven.

Speaker 1

而且看起来似乎有效。

And it seems to be working.

Speaker 1

这是我要去了解一下的事情。

That's something that I'll look into.

Speaker 2

它可能比水晶得到的阳光更多。

It probably gets more sunlight than crystal.

Speaker 1

百分之百。

100%.

Speaker 0

老实说,大概是。

Honestly, probably.

Speaker 0

你知道吗,我正在办公桌上尝试种一小片多肉植物。

You know, I am trying to grow a little succulent garden at my desk at work.

Speaker 2

是等待吗?

Is it the wait.

Speaker 2

所以它们都死了,还是都还是幼苗?

So did they all die or are they all babies?

Speaker 2

因为我看了你的 Snapchat,

Because I saw your Snapchat and

Speaker 1

就像是

it's like

Speaker 0

哦,不不不。

Oh, no no no.

Speaker 0

我是从多肉植物上摘了一些叶子。

It's I took, like, leaves off of succulent plants.

Speaker 0

我只是把它们放进土里。

I just put them into soil.

Speaker 0

这样就是在进行扦插,让它们最终长出根来,然后变成独立的植株。

And so it's like propagating them so that they the roots will come out eventually and then it'll become its own plant.

Speaker 1

哦,原来是这样操作的吗?

Oh, is that how it works?

Speaker 1

你就是对。

You just Yeah.
