Speaker 0

嘿,大家好。

Hey, chat.

Speaker 0

欢迎收听HealthyGamerGG播客。

Welcome to the HealthyGamerGG podcast.

Speaker 0

我是奥洛·卡诺查医生,但你可以叫我K医生。

I'm doctor Olo Kannocha, but you can call me doctor k.

Speaker 0

我是一名精神科医生、游戏玩家,也是HealthyGamer的联合创始人。

I'm a psychiatrist, gamer, and cofounder of HealthyGamer.

Speaker 0

在这个播客里,我们探讨数字时代的心理健康和生活,拆解一些大问题,帮助你更好地了解自己和周围的世界。

On this podcast, we explore mental health and life in the digital age, breaking down big ideas to help you better understand yourself and the world around you.

Speaker 0

那我们就直接开始吧。

So let's dive right in.

Speaker 0

所以,如果你的智商高,你的认知能力就更强。

So if you have a high IQ, your cognitive ability is better.

Speaker 0

如果你的认知能力更强,你就能进行更多的计算。

If your cognitive ability is better, you are able to perform more calculations.

Speaker 0

如果你能进行更多的计算,你就能建立更强大的未来预测模型。

If you can perform more calculations, you can develop a stronger predictive model of the future.

Speaker 0

随着你构建未来稳健模型的能力增强,你的焦虑也会随之成比例增加。

And as your ability to make robust models for the future increases, your anxiety increases directly in proportion to that.

Speaker 1

有很多人,小时候被归类为天才之类的,你知道吗?

There are a lot of people who, when you were kids, we were classified as gifted and all this, you know what?

Speaker 1

你是自闭症。

You're autistic.

Speaker 0

抱歉。

I'm sorry.

Speaker 0

我不是故意要笑,但是……

I don't mean to laugh, but

Speaker 1

你知道吗?

You know?

Speaker 1

这是真的。

It's true.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 1

所以我做了测试,因为我一直想,为什么我会这样表现,等等等等?

So I I took the test and because I've always thought, why do I act this way and da da da?

Speaker 1

但后来你换个角度看,这也是你的超能力。

But then you flip it, and it was also your superpower.

Speaker 1

这就是为什么你能站在舞台上,创造那些世界,做那些事情。

That's why you could stand on stage and make up these worlds and do these things.

Speaker 0

天赋异禀和与众不同。

Giftedness versus special.

Speaker 0

你是哪一种?

Which are you?

Speaker 0

所以我有一个有趣的问题想问大家,这个问题我自己之前也想过。

So I have an interesting question for y'all that I asked myself some time ago.

Speaker 0

为什么不是每个人都是天才呢?

Why is it that everyone isn't a genius?

Speaker 0

为什么人类的平均智商不是200呢?

Why is the average IQ of human beings not 200?

Speaker 0

你们觉得这是为什么?

Why do y'all think that is?

Speaker 0

当然,这是相对的。

So sure, it's relative.

Speaker 0

但为什么平均智商是100,而不是200呢?

But why is the average IQ, like, 100 instead of 200?

Speaker 0

高智商其实也是个负担。

High IQ is also a liability.

Speaker 0

我捐了一个肾。

I gave a kidney transplant.

Speaker 0

现在我只剩下一个肾了。

Now I've only got one kidney left.

Speaker 0

为什么我没有三个肾呢?

Why don't I have three kidneys?

Speaker 0

为什么我没有两颗心脏?

Why don't I have two hearts?

Speaker 0

为什么我没有三只眼睛?

Why don't I have three eyes?

Speaker 0

为什么我有两只眼睛?

Why do I have two eyes?

Speaker 0

为什么不是只有一只眼睛?

Why not just one eye?

Speaker 0

为什么不是一个视觉器官?

Why not one ocular organ?

Speaker 0

我有一个鼻子。

I have one nose.

Speaker 0

为什么是两只眼睛?

Why two eyes?

Speaker 0

一张嘴,两只耳朵。

One mouth, two ears.

Speaker 0

为什么?

Why?

Speaker 0

所以它是一个度量标准。

So it it is a metric.

Speaker 0

你们说得对。

Y'all are right.

Speaker 0

所以你可以对它取平均值。

So you could average it.

Speaker 0

智商是一个标准化的分数。

IQ is a scaled score.

Speaker 0

所以说得过去。

So fair enough.

Speaker 0

为什么计算能力停留在现在的水平,而不是高得多得多?

Why is there computational power where it is instead of being way higher higher?

Speaker 0

然后人们说是进化。

And people say evolution.

Speaker 0

没错。

That's correct.

Speaker 0

但进化选择了这个水平的智商。

But evolution selected for this level of IQ.

Speaker 0

不多不少,正好是这个水平。

Not a little bit more, not a little bit less.

Speaker 0

这就是平均值。

This is the average.

Speaker 0

也许存在一个神经元层面的差距。

And maybe there's a neuronal gap.

Speaker 0

就像是有某种硬件问题。

Like maybe there's a certain there's like a there's a hardware issue.

Speaker 0

我们大脑的“内存”就那么多。

We've only got so much RAM in the brain.

Speaker 0

我们能做的计算也就那么多。

There's only so much computation we can do.

Speaker 0

但对于那些说这有代价的人来说,你们说得完全正确。

But for those of y'all who are saying there's a cost that is exactly right.

Speaker 0

我们在天才儿童身上也看到了这一点。

So we see this with gifted kids.

Speaker 0

天才儿童不一定表现更好。

Gifted kids don't necessarily perform better.

Speaker 0

我们在自闭症学者身上也看到了这一点,我们知道在自闭症的大脑中,有些人能够做出令人难以置信的事情。

We see also see this with autistic savants, where we know that in the autistic brain, some of these people are capable of incredible things.

Speaker 0

但这种能力是以巨大的代价换来的。

But that capability comes at a terrible cost.

Speaker 0

我不知道你们是否知道这件事,但这已经是旧闻了。

So I don't know if you guys know this, but this is now old news.

Speaker 0

真不敢相信这已经是二十年前的事了。

So now I can't believe it's twenty years ago.

Speaker 0

在2007年和2008年,发生了所谓的次贷危机。

In 2007 and 2008, there was something called the subprime mortgage crisis.

Speaker 0

基本上就是,经济崩盘了。

Where basically what happened there, like, economy crashed.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Okay?

Speaker 0

而崩盘的原因,是因为人们在做一件非常有意思的事。

And basically, the reason it crashed is because people were doing something really interesting.

Speaker 0

他们把贷款发给了那些根本还不起钱的人。

They were giving out loans to people who could not afford them.

Speaker 0

然后他们又把所有这些贷款打包,转卖给了别人。

Then what they were doing is packaging all of those loans, and selling them to somebody else.

Speaker 0

我借你100美元,你有10%的几率违约。

I am gonna loan you a $100, chance that you'll default is 10%.

Speaker 0

我会这么操作100次。

And I'm gonna do that a 100 times.

Speaker 0

所以其中一些贷款肯定会出问题。

And so some of these loans are gonna go bad.

Speaker 0

我会亏很多钱。

I'm gonna lose a lot of money.

Speaker 0

但然后我会把它们打包起来,然后卖给其他人。

But then I'm gonna package them all up, and I'm gonna sell them to somebody else.

Speaker 0

然后我用卖来的钱,再去找另外一百个人做同样的事。

And then with the money that I get from that sale, I'm gonna go out and do it to another 100 people.

Speaker 0

因为现在我有这么多钱,对吧,都在银行里。

Because now I've got all this money, right, in my bank.

Speaker 0

所以我可以说,好,现在我把钱给你。

So I can be like, okay, now I'm gonna give it to you.

Speaker 0

所以人们在做这种事,或者有些猫腻,基本上是在制造巨大的违约风险。

So people were doing this or some shenanigans going on, basically was creating a huge risk of default.

Speaker 0

有一个人,本来是放射科医生,后来转行搞金融,他有点自闭症谱系。

And there was a guy who was a radiologist, who got into finance, who is on the spectrum.

Speaker 0

我不知道在电影里他是不是很重要。

I I don't know if in the movie he's essential.

Speaker 0

我不知道。

I don't know.

Speaker 0

但是关于这件事,有人写过书。

But there there were books written about this.

Speaker 0

基本上就是他发现了问题所在。

And he's basically the one who figured it out.

Speaker 0

所以其他人都觉得,天哪,这就是赚钱的方法。

So the rest of the world was like, oh my god, this is the way to make money.

Speaker 0

这就是赚钱的方法。

This is the way to make money.

Speaker 0

这就是赚钱的方法。

This is the way to make money.

Speaker 0

但这个人却说,等一下。

This guy was like, hold on a second.

Speaker 0

这里头有猫腻,他基本上看穿了。

This is there's something shady going on, and he basically figured out.

Speaker 0

所以他属于自闭症谱系。

So he's on the spectrum.

Speaker 0

而且这种情况我们会一次又一次地看到。

And we'll see this time and again.

Speaker 0

我不太确定这个人具体是谁,但你知道,在那个片段里,一个非常有天赋的人恰好是自闭症患者。

I'm not sure exactly who this person was, but, you know, in the clip, someone who's incredibly gifted happens to be autistic.

Speaker 0

也有严重的自闭症,那种情况下就没有任何积极的好处了。

There's severe autism as well, where, like, there's no positive trade off.

Speaker 0

比如无法说话的人,或者有自残行为的人。

People who are nonverbal, people who engage in self injurious behavior.

Speaker 0

在我看来,有些自闭症谱系的情况并不会带来任何优势。

There's some versions of being on the spectrum that don't confer any advantage in my mind.

Speaker 0

比如,我没见过。

Like, I haven't seen.

Speaker 0

我见过这样的案例。

I've seen cases like this.

Speaker 0

我接触过的很多病人,他们确实有一些优势,但总的来说,这些优势并没有让他们的生活变得更轻松。

Many of the patients that I've worked with will have some advantages, but on balance, it's like doesn't make their life easier.

Speaker 0

你知道,用自闭症去换那种天才能力,其实并不划算,因为这会带来很多关系上的问题,诸如此类的。

You know, what you get when you trade the autism for the savant is not worth it, because it causes so many problems in relationships and things like that.

Speaker 0

但最重要的是要明白,高智商是有代价的。

But the main thing to understand is that intelligence comes at a cost.

Speaker 0

比如说,看看这篇论文,真的很有意思。

So for example, if we look at this paper over here, this is really fascinating.

Speaker 0

高智商是心理和生理过度兴奋的风险因素。

So high intelligence, a risk factor for psychological and physiological over excitabilities.

Speaker 0

研究表明,高智商可能是情感障碍、多动症、自闭症谱系障碍的潜在风险因素,并且与免疫失调相关的疾病发病率增加有关。

Implicates high IQ as being a potential risk factor for Affective Disorders, ADHD, ASD, and for increased incidence of disease related to immune dysregulation.

Speaker 0

这真的很吸引人,但我想给大家解释一下这是怎么回事。

So it's really fascinating, but I wanna explain to you all how this works.

Speaker 0

所以,如果你的智商很高,你的认知能力会更强。

So if you have a high IQ, your cognitive ability is better.

Speaker 0

如果你的认知能力更强,你就能进行更多的计算。

If your cognitive ability is better, you are able to perform more calculations.

Speaker 0

如果你能进行更多的计算,你就能构建出更准确的未来预测模型。

If you can perform more calculations, you can develop a stronger predictive model of the future.

Speaker 0

随着你构建未来可靠模型的能力增强,你的焦虑也会按比例增加。

And as your ability to make robust models for the future increases, your anxiety increases directly in proportion to that.

Speaker 0

所以高智商的人焦虑感更强,因为当他们进入一个情境时,他们能看到所有可能出错的地方。

So people with high IQ have higher anxiety, because when they go into a situation, they are able to see all of the things that could go wrong.

Speaker 0

如果我们想想焦虑是什么,焦虑就是展望未来并能够预见到问题。

And if we think about what is anxiety, anxiety is looking into the future and being able to predict problems.

Speaker 0

我担心自己考试会不及格。

I'm worried that I could fail the test.

Speaker 0

我担心回家路上会堵车。

I'm worried that I could get stuck in traffic on the way home.

Speaker 0

焦虑本质上就是预见问题的能力。

Anxiety is literally the ability to predict problems.

Speaker 0

不过,高智商人群的焦虑有个问题,那就是我们预测的问题数量,通常需要和我们解决问题的能力相匹配。

There's a problem, though, with anxiety in giftedness, which is that normally, the way that the number of problems that we want to predict needs to be in proportion with our ability to do something about it.

Speaker 0

我们为什么会焦虑?

Why do we get anxious?

Speaker 0

就是为了能预见到问题,然后采取行动。

So we can predict a problem and do something.

Speaker 0

天哪。

Oh my goodness.

Speaker 0

我考试可能会挂。

I could fail my test.

Speaker 0

哦,为了避免这个,我得去学习。

Oh, to avoid that, let me study.

Speaker 0

所以,预测问题,解决问题,是一一对应的。

So prediction of problem, implementation of solution, one to one.

Speaker 0

智商100的人,他们预测的大多数问题都是能解决的。

And at a 100 IQ, the problems that most human beings predict are solvable.

Speaker 0

但高智商有个大问题,就是如果我有能力,但我只有两只手,一天只有二十四小时,而我却能预见到一百个问题,我根本解决不了所有这些问题。

But IQ has a big problem, which is that if I'm capable if I only have two hands, and I only have twenty four hours in a day, but I can predict a 100 problems, I can't solve all of those problems.

Speaker 0

就像,真的,我希望你们都能明白这一点。

Like, literally, there is I want you all to understand this.

Speaker 0

我发现问题的能力和实施解决方案的能力之间,存在一个差距。

There is a gap between my ability to detect problems, and for me to be able to implement solutions.

Speaker 0

因为我受限于时间、空间和现实。

Because I am bounded by time, space, and reality.

Speaker 0

但我的大脑却能构建预测模型。

But my mind can make predictive models.

Speaker 0

这就是为什么天赋异禀的人会与焦虑作斗争。

This is why people who are gifted struggle with anxiety.

Speaker 0

嘿,大家好。

Hey, y'all.

Speaker 0

如果你有兴趣运用我们分享的一些原则,真正在生活中带来改变,可以去看看Doctor。

If you're interested in applying some of the principles that we share to actually create change in your life, check out Doctor.

Speaker 0

K的心理健康指南。

K's guide to mental health.

Speaker 0

焦虑其实有两个来源。

There are actually two sources for anxiety.

Speaker 0

一个是认知上的,一个是生理上的。

One is cognitive and one is physiologic.

Speaker 0

对大多数人来说,安慰会变成你依赖的东西。

For the majority of people, reassurance becomes something that you become dependent on.

Speaker 0

你并没有真正处理焦虑的根源,然后这有点像自我实现的预言——你越社交焦虑,就显得越尴尬,接着就陷入这种恶性循环。

You're not really dealing with the root of the anxiety, and it sort of becomes a self fulfilling prophecy where the more socially anxious you become, the more awkward you appear, and then it kind of becomes this vicious cycle.

Speaker 0

所以去看看简介里的链接,今天就开启你的旅程吧。

So check out the link in the bio, and start your journey today.

Speaker 0

然后这就产生了另一个问题,对吧,就是我现在做出了一百个预测。

And then this creates another problem, right, which is now I'm making a 100 predictions.

Speaker 0

但我只能解决十个。

I can only do 10 solutions.

Speaker 0

然后我就能预测出那90个没有解决方案的问题的后果。

And then I'm able to predict the consequence of 90 problems that have no solutions.

Speaker 0

天哪。

Oh my god.

Speaker 0

我要做的事情太多了。

I need to do so much.

Speaker 0

我该从哪里开始?

Where do I start?

Speaker 0

要做的事情太多了。

It's too much to do.

Speaker 0

我怎么知道这能行得通?

How do I know it's going to work?

Speaker 0

压力山大。

Overwhelm.

Speaker 0

所以这就像火上浇油,这就是为什么我们看到这些研究显示高智商与患多动症、自闭症谱系障碍等风险相关。

So that then fuels the fire, which is why we see these papers that show that high IQ results in a risk of ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, things like that.

Speaker 0

接下来要理解的一点,也很有意思,就是高智商的人更容易反复琢磨。

Next thing to understand, just this is another interesting point, is that people who have high IQ are more likely to ruminate.

Speaker 0

他们更容易陷入自己的思绪里,一遍又一遍地想着同样的事情。

They're more likely to get stuck in their head thinking the same thoughts over and over and over again.

Speaker 0

因为如果有一百个问题要解决,而我的手只能解决十个,一天只有二十四小时,聪明人会怎么做呢?

Because if there are a 100 problems to solve, and my hands can only solve 10, if I only have twenty four hours in a day, what is the smart person gonna do?

Speaker 0

他们会发挥自己的优势。

They're gonna lean into their strengths.

Speaker 0

让我看看能不能通过计算把一百个问题减少到九十九个。

Let me see if I can perform a calculation to reduce a 100 problems to 99.

Speaker 0

我怎么能搞清楚这个情况,这样我就能少做点事?

How can I figure out this situation, so that I have to do less?

Speaker 0

因为只有这样才行,我只能做十件事,还剩九十件。

Because the only way this works, I can only I can only do 10 things, and there's 90 left.

Speaker 0

所以让我看看能不能通过计算把一百减到九十,九十减到八十,八十减到七十,六十减到五十,五十减到四十,三十,四十减到三十,一直减到二十,最后到十,然后我就可以干活了。

So let me see if I can perform some calculations to reduce a 100 to ninety, and ninety to eighty, and eighty to seventy, and sixty to fifty, fifty to forty, thirty, 40 to 30, down to 20, and then eventually 10, and then I can work.

Speaker 0

他们确实更容易陷入反复思考,不停地想啊想啊想,想通过思考来解决问题。

They're literally more prone to rumination, and thinking thinking thinking thinking thinking to solve problems.

Speaker 0

然后最后就卡住了。

And then they end up getting stuck.

Speaker 0

因为现在的情况是,他们不去解决那十件事,因为那十件事不够,那怎么办呢?

Because now what's happening is instead of solving those 10, because those 10 isn't enough, then what?

Speaker 0

他们把精力都花在把一百件事缩减到九十件上。

They spend their energy in reducing a 100 to 90.

Speaker 0

他们把时间都花在试图把问题缩小到可以解决的程度,而不是去解决、去行动。

They spend all of their time trying to whittle down their problem to something solvable instead of solving, instead of working.

Speaker 0

他们专注于压缩问题。

They focus on compressing the problem.

Speaker 0

我怎么去参加聚会还能自信满满?

How do I go to a party and be confident?

Speaker 0

我怎么去参加聚会而不感到焦虑?

How do I go to a party and not feel anxious?

Speaker 0

我该怎么选一个合适的专业,既能让我保持兴趣不觉得无聊,毕业时又有好的就业机会呢?

How do I figure out which major is going to be right, so that I stay engaged with it, I don't get bored, and has good job opportunities by the time I graduate?

Speaker 0

他们总是试图把问题塑造成可以解决的样子,而不是向前迈一步,因为这就是他们的解决策略。

They're always trying to shape mold the problem into salt something solvable instead of take one step forward, because that is their solution strategy.

Speaker 0

大脑学会了这样做,而且他们很小的时候就学会了。

The the brain learns how to do this, and they learn how to do this at a very young age.

Speaker 0

这就是为什么他们被称为天才。

That's why they're called gifted.

Speaker 0

所以早期这样做是有效的。

So early on this works.

Speaker 0

哦,我想整天打游戏。

Oh, I wanna play video games all day.

Speaker 0

我不想为数学考试复习。

I don't wanna study for my math test.

Speaker 0

我该怎么解决这个问题呢?

How do I solve this problem?

Speaker 0

哦,我知道了。

Oh, I know.

Speaker 0

我只要在学校认真听讲,就不用回家复习了。

I'll just pay attention in school, so that I don't have to study.

Speaker 0

如果我在学校认真听讲,回家就完全不用学习了。

And if I pay attention in school, then I can come home and I never have to study.

Speaker 0

问题来了。

Problems.

Speaker 0

我是说,他们能想出解决办法。

I mean, they figure out solutions.

Speaker 0

但问题在于,他们发展出的策略只在低级别时有效。

And this is the problem is that they develop a strategy that only works at low rank.

Speaker 0

我每局游戏都要快速扩张。

I'm gonna rapid expand every game.

Speaker 0

就快速扩张,因为和我同级别的人从来不用快攻战术。

Just gonna rapid expand, because people at my rank never use rush strats.

Speaker 0

所以他们开始养成坏习惯。

So they start to develop bad habits.

Speaker 0

为什么他们会养成坏习惯呢?

Why do they develop bad habits?

Speaker 0

因为他们能侥幸过关。

Because they can get away with it.

Speaker 0

基础代谢率高、新陈代谢快的人,往往饮食习惯很差。

People who have a high basic metabolic rate, a fast metabolism, oftentimes have terrible eating habits.

Speaker 0

因为不管他们吃的是零食还是沙拉,他们都能保持苗条。

Because whether they eat Twinkies, or whether they eat salad, they stay thin.

Speaker 0

所以他们没机会意识到——这就是生活最棘手的地方。

So they're not given the opportunity to this is what's so tricky about life.

Speaker 0

我接触的很多人,能力越强,就越难发挥出自己的潜力。

So many of the people that I work with, the higher the capability is, the harder it is to live up to your potential.

Speaker 0

因为你背负了所有这些坏习惯,而这些习惯从来没有受到过任何纠正性的进化压力。

Because you're saddling all of these bad habits that there was never any, like, corrective evolutionary pressure for.

Speaker 0

这就是为什么我们会看到一些非常有意思的数据。

And that's why we get to some of these really interesting statistics.

Speaker 0

让我看看能不能找到这些数据给你们。

Let me see if I can find them for y'all.

Speaker 0

理性思考意味着设定合适的目标。

To think rationally means to adopt appropriate goals.

Speaker 0

根据目标和信念采取合适的行动,并且持有与现有证据相符的信念。

Take appropriate action given one's goals and beliefs, and hold beliefs that are commensurate with available evidence.

Speaker 0

智力测试衡量了思维中许多重要的方面,但它们并不直接评估思维的理性程度。

Intelligence tests measure many important things about thinking, but they do not directly assess the degree of rationality of thought.

Speaker 0

因此,智力与理性思维的某些方面关联很弱,这也许并不令人意外。

Thus, it is perhaps not surprising that intelligence is quite weakly related to at least some aspects of rational thought.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Okay?

Speaker 0

我知道这听起来很奇怪。

This I know sounds weird.

Speaker 0

但基本上,如果我们看智力,这就是有点难理解的地方。

But basically, if we look at intelligence, this is what's kinda hard to understand.

Speaker 0

所以我觉得高智商就像一头非常强壮的野兽,你想把它拴住。

So I think about high IQ is a very strong beast that you're trying to leash.

Speaker 0

所以高智商容易导致反复思考。

So high IQ is prone to rumination.

Speaker 0

所以真正聪明的人会发生什么,对吧,就是他们会走进我的办公室,然后说,哦,我有焦虑。

So what happens with people who are really intelligent, right, is like they'll come into my office, and they'll say like, oh, I have anxiety.

Speaker 0

问题在于,他们会说,我知道这是焦虑,但我停不下来。

And the problem and they're like, I know it's anxiety, but I can't get it to stop.

Speaker 0

所以他们拴着的动物比他们自己强壮得多。

So the the animal at the end of their leash is so much stronger than they are.

Speaker 0

当它开始以某种方式思考时,他们有一个不自律的头脑。

When it starts to think in a particular way, they have an undisciplined mind.

Speaker 0

而一个不自律的头脑,如果非常非常强大,就像我拴着一只两百磅或八百磅的老虎,那比拴着一只六十磅的金毛猎犬要难控制得多。

And an undisciplined mind that is really, really strong, if I have a two hundred pound or eight hundred pound tiger at the end of a leash, it's gonna be harder to control than, like, a 60 pound golden retriever.

Speaker 0

这就是聪明人面临的问题。

This is the problem that people with intelligence face.

Speaker 0

在这篇论文里,他们谈到了理性,也就是调节自己思维的能力。

And in this paper, they talk about rationality, which is like the ability to regulate your thinking.

Speaker 0

这一点我们是知道的。

And we know this.

Speaker 0

因为如果我们聪明的话,我们会意识到自己的思维其实有点……我们不会觉得它不理性,但它确实是不理性的。

Because if we're smart, we sort of realize that our thinking is kind of like, we don't think of it as irrational, but it is irrational.

Speaker 0

那不是我们会用的词。

That's not the word that we would use.

Speaker 0

我们觉得自己是超级理性的。

We think we're hyper rational.

Speaker 0

在这里,他们把理性定义为能够设定合适的目标并坚持执行,这算是理性,对吧?

In in this way, they're defining rational as being able to set appropriate goals and follow them through, which is like rational, right?

Speaker 0

但我们知道自己在这一点上有困难,却还是觉得自己在理性思考。

But we're like, and we know we have trouble with that, but we think we're thinking rationally.

Speaker 0

但是当我们的智商强到我们控制不住的时候,它就会变得不受约束。

But when our IQ is kind of too strong for us to control, it becomes undisciplined.

Speaker 0

我觉得用这个词更合适,然后它就失控了,我们就开始跟它较劲。

That I think is a better word to use, and then it gets out of our control, and then we struggle with it.

Speaker 0

我们很难去限制它。

We have trouble restricting it.

Speaker 0

所以这才是真正有意思的地方。

And so this is what's really interesting.

Speaker 0

如果你看收入,如果你看智商,世界上智商最高的那2%的人,赚的钱比前10%的人还少。

If you look at income, if you look at IQ, the top 2% of IQ people in the world earn less money than the top 10%.

Speaker 0

赚得更少。

Earn less money.

智商越高,到某个点的时候,就好像,你知道,收入是随着智商线性增长的,大概就像这样。

The higher you go on the IQ scale, at some point, it's kinda like, you know, income increases with IQ linear, like maybe like something like this.

Speaker 0

然后到某个点,就变成这样了。

And then at some point, goes like this.

Speaker 0

在智商很高的上层,收入会急剧下降。

It craters really hard at the upper levels of IQ.

Speaker 0

有趣的是,有时候人们会发帖说,哦,K医生,你总是谈论有天赋的孩子。

Now the interesting thing, sometimes people will post, and they say like, oh, doctor K, you always talk about gifted kids.

Speaker 0

但我不是有天赋的人。

But I'm not gifted.

Speaker 0

我实际上智商只有80或70。

I'm actually like 80 IQ or 70 IQ.

Speaker 0

那我该怎么办呢?

What do I do then?

Speaker 0

如果我真的是低智商,我该怎么办?

What do I do if I am I am literally I have a low IQ?

Speaker 0

我也和这样的人打过交道。

And I've worked with those people as well.

Speaker 0

所以真正有趣的是这个。

So here's what's really interesting.

Speaker 0

如果你的智商低,情商或者情绪能力就能弥补这个差距。

If you have low IQ, EQ or emotional capability is able to buffer that gap.

Speaker 0

所以,那些不是通过认知智力获得的工作表现,可能通过情商,借助多种互补机制来实现。

So job performance that is not attained through cognitive intelligence, may be attained through emotional intelligence via multiple complementary mechanisms.

Speaker 0

第一个机制是关于识别和理解他人情绪的专业能力。

The first mechanism concerns expertise at identifying and understanding the emotions of other individuals.

Speaker 0

这意味着什么呢?

So what does this mean?

Speaker 0

这意味着,即使你无法胜任工作,理解愤怒、悲伤等情绪,理解同事的情绪,也是你在工作中取得成功的重要途径。

This means that even if you can't do the job, understanding anger, sadness, things like that, understanding the emotions of your colleagues is a huge way for you to succeed at your job.

Speaker 0

帮助你的团队成员,即使你无法完成工作本身,也与更好的工作表现相关。

Helping your team members, even if you are incapable of doing the work, correlates with improved job performance.

Speaker 0

在大多数工作中,甚至所有工作中,组织成员都会与上司、同事、支持人员以及外部人员,比如客户、顾客或病人互动。

In most, if not all jobs, organization members interact with supervisors, co workers, support staff, outsiders, such as customers, clients, or patients.

Speaker 0

这些信息反过来可以被那些情商高但智商低的人转化为高绩效的工作表现。

This information may in turn be converted into high task performance by individuals with high emotional intelligence and low cognitive intelligence.

Speaker 0

所以即使我在客户支持的技术方面不是特别擅长,但如果我擅长和人打交道,那也能行。

So even if I'm not quite as good at the technical side of customer support, if I'm good at dealing with people, that'll work.

Speaker 0

第二种机制是,情商可能通过情绪调节影响社交关系的质量,从而提升低智商个体的工作表现。

A second mechanism by which emotional intelligence may enhance the job performance of individuals with low cognitive intelligence, concerns how regulating emotional influences regulating emotion influences the quality of social relationships.

Speaker 0

很多时候,和我一起工作的那些智商很高的人,我们之前聊过,他们容易焦虑、多动,甚至抑郁。

Oftentimes, people that I work with who are very high IQ, we we talked about how they're predisposed to anxiety, ADHD, even depression.

Speaker 0

关于这方面的论文很多,我甚至做过整场讲座。

There are lots of papers about that, that I've done whole lectures on.

Speaker 0

所以,智商越高,调节情绪就越难。

So being able to regulate your emotions becomes harder, the higher you climb in IQ.

Speaker 0

因此,即使智商不高,如果你能管理好自己的情绪,那也会提升工作表现。

And so if you can manage your own emotions even at low IQ, that will improve job performance.
