I believe that every major innovation that has propelled humankind forward, behind all of those innovations, there's late night dining, late night snacks.
When I was in college, I swear to God, I don't know why we paid for like an entire meal plan.
I think it was like mandatory because we only ate late night.
Like, we didn't like the lunch, we didn't like the breakfast, no, we weren't even awake for breakfast.
But the late night snacks, we had buffalo wings, chicken tenders, like pizza, fries Everything tastes better when your nutritionist or personal trainer says you shouldn't eat.
Like the time frame that you should never eat, anything is the time where everything tastes good.
But let me just say, the king, the absolute cream of the crop for late night dining or late night snacks is Korea.
We have our yashik, which is seriously just just Hey, Tableau.
So Korea boasts some of the best late night snacks in the world.
Like, we call it yashik, and it just even sounds tasty.
Yashik.
Right?
And we all know that we shouldn't be eating it and we should not be on Coupang Eats ordering it.
But it's like the moment you decide to order it is when the taste begins.
You know, because you always have a ten minute debate.
Like, Should we?
Ah, maybe not.
Should we?
Ah, maybe not.
Should we?
We shouldn't.
We should not.
We should not be What do you want to eat?
And then you order it and the food arrives and you know you've selected a movie to watch or like some K drama and then the food hits just in time and then you like, Oh my God, friendship is better, relationships are better and like whatever conundrum you had in your mind just goes away and you couldn't figure something out, now you can figure it out over chicken and beer, or what we call 'chimak'.
Okay?
This is the of everything.
Okay?
And here's the thing, I'm speaking Konglish right now, and even if you're not a Korean speaker, you understood what I said.
That's the power of yashik.
And today we're gonna compare some famous Korean yashiks, and then we're gonna choose the king of them while actually eating some yashik.
If you're watching the YouTube video right now, if you're only listening on audio, you won't know.
But if you're watching the video, you know that I have some tasty Korean chicken and beer next to me.
So please tune in to the video if you would like.
If you're listening on audio though, it still works because you get to hear this.
Oh my gosh.
It's so good.
Oh, the sound you hear in the back, that motorcycle revving up, is the guy who gave me this chicken.
You know it's a Korean late night snack, the party when you hear this.
That's the sound of all your troubles, your weekday troubles going away and your health troubles beginning.
Oh my god.
If Two Cuts is watching this right now, he's gonna be like, hey, Tableau has just become YouTube.
I thought you were doing a podcast.
Potato wedges.
Oh my god.
Potato wedges.
Like, there are no language barriers when late night snacks pop up.
Alright, let's go.
Best Korean late night snacks.
Oh shit.
Fried chicken versus pizza?
Fried chicken versus pizza.
Okay.
Well, first of all, you might be saying to yourself, Wait, chicken and pizza, they're not Korean snacks?
Well, you haven't had chicken and pizza in Korea then because we've turned them into something new.
Like the fried chicken here, I don't know what they do to it, but it just tastes different.
That's why even if you go to New York or you go to LA, they legit have certain chicken places called Korean chicken Korean fried chicken, right?
It just because it just tastes different.
And also, something we have done to pizza here, we have innovated pizza to the point where I'm not even sure if it's pizza anymore.
Like the dough is a mix of like just the traditional pizza dough and also a little bit of dduck.
Sometimes it's just, you know the Chapagetti pizza?
It's like sticky rice crust dough.
And if you're like watching or listening right now and you haven't had any of what I'm talking about, you have to try this pizza.
There was this band that came to Korea for like this huge band.
I can't remember the name right now, but they came for this huge festival in Korea.
They're famous for always going to this one pizza place that's not even like one of the biggest franchises.
They always go to this one like neighborhood pizza place in Korea because they love it so much.
So this is difficult, but come on.
I have chicken in front of me.
No pizza is gonna beat fried chicken at this point.
So chicken.
By the way, speaking of Korean chicken places, we recently had like two major events that propelled the popularity of Korean chicken in Korea.
One was when Jensen Huang from Nvidia visited Korea and he got together with like the Samsung head and also the Hyundai car head.
They went to of all places they could have gone to they went to a particular neighborhood chicken place.
Jensen Huang
And Jensen Huang loved it so much.
I don't know if that chicken place is publicly traded, but I'm sure that day, and that week, and that month, and even till now, that stock probably went up more than Nvidia.
Okay?
Because like everyone was like, Oh my God, see?
Everyone loves chicken.
It doesn't matter if you're a billionaire or if you're just a student in middle school.
Everyone loves Korean chicken.
So that was one event.
And the second event was Tyler, the Creator, came to Korea and had a show.
And at the show, he praised this one neighborhood chicken place another chicken place like multiple times during the show, right?
Like how good it was.
So these global celebrities and titans of industry all praising Korean chicken really really made me feel like, Oh my god, I'm so lucky I could eat that every day if I want.
But I won't because I gotta think about my health too.
Okay.
So the next one is Jokbal versus Dakbal.
This is the Bal versus Bal.
Okay?
Bal v Bal.
好的。
Okay.
First of all, Jokbal is braised pig's feet.
Okay.
That might sound disgusting to you, but it's not.
It's really good.
And there's a French dish that is basically Jokbal.
It's exactly the same.
It's served a lot in French restaurants.
The reason why I know this, I went to a the first time I went to like a French restaurant because, you know, like I'm not gonna be at a French restaurant, like I had no money, right?
And then this one time, you know, when I first like got my proper pay cheque, we went to a French restaurant.
So we get there and we've never been to a French restaurant, right?
So we don't know what the hell to order.
It was in Korea, it was a French restaurant in Korea, in Jeongdam Dong.
We're like, What do you recommend?
Because we don't know shit but we're trying to hide that fact.
So we're like, What's the special tonight?
And he explains something in French.
Like he says the French name of it and he's like, This is really good.
This is really good tonight.
So we order it.
It comes out and it's just this huge chunk of Jokbal.
It's just this late night snack that we can always just get really cheap.
And I'm like, It's just Jokbal.
We're gonna pay so much money for this Jokbal.
And we're like, It must taste different.
So we taste it, and it's just Jokbal.
It's literally the same thing, but just much more expensive.
So that's why I remember I think it's like a French dish and probably a German dish.
It's probably like, you know, in multiple cultures.
Right?
But it's good because it comes with this special type of kimchi that just goes so well when it's paired with Gopag.
I'm sorry.
I'm like eating while talking and I just can't do both because I just want to eat.
Oh my god, this is so good.
Okay.
Good thing I have to work out tomorrow morning.
So it's Jokbal versus Tteokbal.
Okay.
So what is Tteokbal?
Jokbal is pig's feet, Tteokbal is chicken feet.
And let me just be honest with you here.
I don't really like Tteokbal because the whole point of Tteokbal is that it's actually just this stick that is just covered with something that is super spicy.
That's literally like, there's not that much meat on it.
It's just, it's basically you go on hot ones and that's what, you know, that's what it is.
Okay?
It's just a sauce, basically.
Like, you you put it in your mouth and the the first time I had it, I put it in my mouth and I was like, what the hell?
There's no meat.
It's just really spicy and I'm dying.
And they're like, that's the point.
I was like, then why don't I just like drink spicy like hot sauce?
But the thing is it's really popular when paired with soju and like, you know, it's a popular like drinking place kind of snack.
So I recommend that you try it, especially if you like spicy things.
Because you're not just gonna be having Tteokbal, you're gonna be having like, you know, Korean places, they always have a lot of banchan, you know, a lot of side dishes.
It comes with like chmokbap, which is like punch rice.
Fist rice.
It's just rice made like with your hand, like into a ball.
And with some seaweed, and it's Oh my god, just talking about it.
Maybe I do like Tteokbok.
Okay.
So Jokbal versus Tteokbok.
Okay.
I'm gonna go with Jokbal.
Okay.
I'm going with Jokbal.
So far, chicken has beat pizza and Jokbal has beat Dakbal.
Okay.
So the next one is tacochi, which is chicken skewers skewers skewers versus yachae gokbap chang is stir fried gokbap chang Oh my god, stir fry.
Stir fry is triggering me.
For those of you who don't know, when I was living in Canada as a kid, there weren't that many Asians there and it was a different time.
And some kid called me stir fry in class and my nickname became stir fry because I'm Asian and it tormented me for a long time, right, up until I kicked them in the nuts and then it stopped because other people see sometimes you have to make an example out of the person bullying you because other people realize that, you know, it's more important for them not to be kicked in the nuts than to like feel the joy of making fun of somebody racially, right?
Anyways, So stir fried Gopchang is stir fried pork intestines with vegetables.
If you're watching the video right now, you can see a picture of it right in front of me.
Chicken skewers are, I think, more recommendable for first time Korean late night snack eaters, for first time Korean yashikers because, you know, it's familiar.
Like chicken on a stick, Right?
Like chicken on a stick.
What more do you have to explain?
But it's got like this sauce that's like brushed on, like this flavoring and sometimes they'll have different flavors and you cook it and you eat it.
It's like Korean barbecue but with chicken on a stick.
And I've you know, sometimes I'll have friends come from Europe or The US or other countries and I'll take them to a Korean restaurant.
I'll always try to take them to a Korean restaurant because they don't want to just eat like, you know, hamburgers.
I'll take them and not gonna lie, sometimes certain dishes will make them sort of like, you know, take a step back because they're like, What is that?
And then you have to explain it to them, right?
And you're like, so it's like intestines?
And you you lose them at intestines.
But the minute they try it, they're like, Yo, Gopchang all the way!
Gopchang,
Gopchang for life!
So if you're a first time Yashiker, I recommend Tteokchi But if you're a little more experienced and you want to take the next step, it's definitely stir fried Gopchang.
Yapchae Gopchang, baby!
Tteokchi?
So Tteokochi is out.
Not gonna lie, I'm so glad we shot this at night because like, I didn't eat dinner.
Yogurt Ice Cream versus Bingsu Bingsu is Korean shaved ice.
Come on.
We're doing Korean late night snacks.
So yogurt ice cream, I mean we can't really say this is a Korean snack.
I mean we've turned it into something amazing but I can't say it's more Korean than Bingsu.
Isn't Bingsu pop?
I've seen some Bingsu places pop up in The States now and there are some popular places.
Bingsu is basically like shaved ice and then there's like either fruit or like, you know, all sorts of things on top and ice cream on top and it's just the best thing to eat during hot seasons or after you eat chicken and get drunk.
Or have Gopchang and you get drunk because it's so refreshing right after.
To put it simply, night before Christmas.
You've been praying for a white Christmas.
You look out the window, it's fucking snowing.
First snow of the year and it's happening right before Christmas.
You run out there.
Oh my God, I'm gonna be the first person to step on snow this year and instead of stepping on snow, you like you pour a little bit of chocolate syrup on it and then you put like, you know, you put like a Bizu karu, right?
Like, you put like these bean powder things and then sometimes like some fruit, you put it on the snow and then you fucking bite into it.
That's exactly what a Bingsu tastes like every time.
Every time you eat Bingsu, it's like you're eating first snow of the year right before Christmas.
And this year, you've been a good boy, And Santa is coming with some gifts for you.
You still believe Santa because you can't believe that a world that has this tasty Bingsu doesn't have Santa in it.
In other words, yogurt ice cream is out.
好了。
Alright.
Oh shit.
The next one I think is the battle of the OGs.
Like the classics.
Next one is basically Nas versus Jay Z.
Gimbap versus Ramyeon.
Let me just tell you.
By the way, Gimbap has become like super popular in The States because that Trader Joe's Gimbap became super popular, right?
You know, Epikaze, our YouTube show, Epikaze YouTube show, we did an episode where we went to Trader Joe's and we got the Gimbap and it tasted honestly like pretty bad, right?
And we said it and everybody that loves that Trader Joe's Gimbap, they were saying that like, We did it wrong.
We cooked it wrong.
Sorry.
But I'm saying, this is a difficult battle.
It's like choosing between mom and dad.
Like I said, it's a battle between Nas and Jay Z because these are like the classic it's like they represent Korean snacks to the fullest.
They are the OGs.
They're like Snoop Dogg versus M and M.
Okay?
This is like, I can't even come up with any more metaphors.
You know what I mean?
Gimbap goes so well with Ramyeon.
That's the problem.
Like I have never imagined a table with just ramen on it and I can't imagine just ordering Gimbap.
I have to have both.
And right now the Hey Tableau crew is making me decide and splitting up like the perfect duo.
How we do that?
It's just not right.
Gimbap is so good with Ramyeon and Ramyeon is so good with Gimbap.
This one time someone asked like, I think it was during an interview or something, like what would you have as your last meal?
You know how like people who like get executed like there's this, you know, there's an urban legend that they can eat whatever they want.
If they want lobster, they can have that.
They can have like a full course meal if they want, they can have a hamburger.
I would choose Ramyeon any day over anything.
I don't want like the most I don't want some like French Jokbal.
I don't want don't need some like Michelin three star whatever.
I just want Ramyeon just cooked normally according to the directions on the back of the, you know, the thing.
I don't need like any new ingredients in it.
I don't need it to be like modified.
I just want straight up Ramyeon.
I love Ramyeon.
I legit can eat Ramyeon three meals out of the day every day for three sixty five days and still be perfectly fine except my body will like go to shit.
Like I will like I won't be able to sing two songs on stage.
Right?
That's the only thing.
My love for the fans is the only thing keeping me away from eating ramyeon every single moment of my life.
That's how much I love it.
And let me just say, if you if you if anybody fucking says that ramyeon is not the best food in the entire world like compared to everything, Fuck you!
I will ride and die for Ramyeon.
Gimbap is out.
I love Gimbap, but you ain't shit without Ramyeon.
Gimbap gang!
I'm sorry, but Ramyeon all the fucking way.
Ramyeon is the best.
Next.
Oh damn.
Another OG versus OG situation.
It's Gamjatang versus Makchang Gooey.
First of all, Gamjatang.
First of all, let me just tell you, explain to you what Gamjatang is.
Gamja
Gamja is potatoes.
Tang
Tang Tang is soup.
What's funny is I always thought that it was called Gamjatang because it has kamjatang in it.
Is it called Gamjatang because it has potatoes in it?
The bone of the pork is called Called Gamjatang, right?
Which is weird, right?
Because it's got Gamjatang in it.
It always has like three or four big chunks of like full potato in there, right?
So when I first had Gamjatang as a kid, assumed it was because there was Gamjatang in it, there was like, you know, potatoes in it.
So I went first for the potatoes because I was like, If this is representative of the dish, it must be the best part of it.
But I did not know that the pork part is the part that's so good.
And I didn't know that was what they call the part of the pork.
So technically it's like a double Gamjatang.
And then there's a Makchang gooey.
Okay?
The Makchang gooey, Makchang gooey, is grilled pork intestines.
And let me just tell you, this tastes way better than it sounds in English.
Okay?
It tastes so good.
It's like how do I describe this thing?
It's like when you chew on it, it's like crispy but soft at the same time and chewy.
At first bite, you know this is bad for you.
Like you know this is probably terrible for you, and that you worked out for no reason today.
Because you didn't know you were gonna be eating Makchang gooey, but now you're here after like a two hour workout and you're eating Makchang gooey.
Say goodbye to whatever calories you burned because this shit is not good for you and you know it, but you're gonna keep eating it because it's so good and you order more and more and more.
And it doesn't like you have to eat a lot for it to fill you up.
It is so good.
Makchang goo is so good.
So this is also a difficult battle because Makchang goo is good to eat with soju, with alcohol, but afterwards you want that Gamjatang.
It cures your hangover BEFORE you have the hangover.
So you gotta eat the Makchang Gwi and then eat the Gamjatang, but I have to choose one of them, which is really hard.
But here, you know what, I'm gonna go with the Makchang Gwi.
Sorry to Gamjatang.
But Gamjatang is out.
Makchang Gwi.
If people hear this and then they go to a Korean restaurant?
And they're like, Can we have some Makchang Gwi?
Gamjatang.
Ain't nothing to fuck with.
Can I get some Makchang gooey?
By the way, if I have anything in my teeth, please let me know.
Next is Sotteok Sotteok, which is sausage and rice cake skewers.
We'll seriously, we'll put anything on a stick.
You give us some food, you give us some ingredients, you give us some, like, some anything edible, and we'll put it on, like, a really thin stick and sell it to you, and it'll just taste the 10,000 times better than when you first gave us the ingredients.
Okay?
That's what Korea does.
Korea will turn anything into a skewer and it'll taste fucking awesome.
Versus Yukhoe, which is beef tartare.
It's just straight up beef tartare but it tastes different from beef tartare.
It's more meaty, less spiced, I think, than tartare.
If you think beef tartare is a little too strong, like the taste, you will love yukhoe.
And yukhoe comes with When you go to a Korean barbecue place, you usually get yukhoe at the beginning as an appetizer, even if you don't order.
Sometimes they just give it to you.
And it's really confusing because you go to KBBQ and they give you raw meat that you have to cook, but they also give you raw meat.
So I'll sometimes go with friends from The States and they'll immediately begin cooking the yukhoe, which is meant to be eaten raw.
Which actually tastes pretty good, not gonna lie.
So if you cook it, I mean, go ahead.
It's gonna go into your stomach anyways.
Sotteok Sotteok is more like a dessert kind of snack.
It's less filling.
Yukhoe is more like legit dinnertime kind of food.
I'm gonna go with Sotteok Sotteok because we're talking about snacks, and Yukhoe is more like a meal.
Okay.
Next.
Korean hot dog versus Tteokbokki.
Some of you might be thinking, Wait, what the hell is a Korean hot dog?
Isn't a hot dog a hot dog?
It is not!
Korean hot dogs are different.
First of all, Korean hot dogs are usually on a stick.
If it's on a stick in The States, we call it a corn dog.
A hot dog is in a bun that you hold.
And like I just said, give us anything.
Give us anything.
We'll put it on a stick, sell it back to you, and you'll be completely satisfied because it tastes 1,000 times better.
Honestly, we're like amazing at this.
Versus Tteokbokki, which is the most popular snack for like elementary school kids, middle school kids, high school kids.
I'm not exaggerating when I say it raised me Because Tteokbokki was the cheapest option at those kinds of like, we call them bunshik places, which is like, you know, snap place, right?
And it was the cheapest option.
We usually couldn't buy Tteokbokki and Ramyeon or Tteokbokki and Gimbap.
You would get Tteokbokki and then it might pop up later, it might not.
This thing called Sundae, which is like steamed intestines.
A lot of intestines here.
But tastes so good.
Tteokbokki
And Tteokbokki is like our spicy rice cake like this thing.
This right here.
I'm showing you on video.
This is Tteokbokki.
But it's usually Tteokbokki is like longer and it's more like fluid liquid spice but it's just perfect.
I don't know who made it, I don't know why they made it, but it's just amazing.
You can't bring hot dogs to a Tteokbokki fight.
Tteokbokki is going to win any time, every single time.
Next two challengers.
Sundae.
I just mentioned Sundae.
Sundae.
It's not a sundae.
Here's the thing with Korean dishes.
When you explain in English what it is, it sounds a lot less appetizing.
It is not a problem with the dish.
It is a problem with the English language not being adequate enough to describe what this actually is or how awesome it is.
Okay?
Sundae
So Sundae is Korean blood sausage.
There's two words in here that are not appetizing at all.
Blood and sausage.
There should never be the word blood on a menu.
Sundae is much more than that.
There's no blood involved when you eat it.
So don't worry.
Sundae versus Gukbap.
Gukbap is Korean beef or pork soup.
And it's literally just like this clean soup broth with like some pieces of beef in it and like maybe a little bit of noodles and then you put rice in it and then you eat it.
And it's so good when you're hungover.
It's also very hearty.
Like after you eat it, like on a cold day, it's very popular because after you eat it, like you feel like really warmed up.
Sundae is more like a snack to be paired with Tteokbokki from before, right, or some Ramyeon, and with a little bit of salt.
And you know how the salt that they give with it isn't just white salt, it's got a little bit of pink in there.
It looks sort of like Himalayan salt and it tastes so good.
Oh my god, I should not be doing this at this time.
I'm going with Sundae.
This is a snack battle.
You can't be bringing Gukbap to a snack battle here, to a Yashik battle.
Okay, Next up, I I would say this is a Drake Kendrick kind of battle.
Okay.
The guy the contender next is the only one that can maybe step up to Ramyeon.
It's Chapagetti and Green Onion Kimchi.
Oh, shit.
Which is Chapagetti and Pagimchi versus Chanchi Guksu.
Anchi
Chanchi guksu is banquet noodles.
Chanchi means banquet, like a party, like a, you know, to serve at those kinds of gatherings, I guess.
Chapagetti
Chapagetti is basically how do I describe this?
It's like ramen without any of the soup and it's black bean sauce.
So it's like pasta, but with black bean sauce.
It's put on see the picture here if you're watching YouTube, there's an egg on top.
Egg with Chapagetti is like it's just a banger.
It's possibly the greatest thing to happen to human kind.
Like whoever first was like, Yo, let's put an egg on top of this shit was a genius!
But you add green onion kimchi to it?
Oh my God!
Like, you know, people talk about pairing wines with a certain food and all this like whatever, award winning food, flying to Paris to, you know I can open my fridge and just take out some pagimchi, okay?
And just like open the drawer, take out a Chapagetti, crack an egg on top.
Four minutes later, I am happier than the person who took a private jet to Paris to pair some like, you know, 130 year old wine with some French Chopal.
Like, Chapagetti, pagimchi all the way.
I love Chanji Guksu too but it has nothing on Chapagetti.
Okay, Chanji Guksu is out.
Chapagetti wins.
Next is Kun Mandu, which is fried dumplings versus Yangpuni.
Kunmandu fried dumplings versus Yangpuni bibimbap, which is homemade bibimbap.
Yangpuni bibimbap.
Yangpuni gakkul is like a bucket.
And it's like it's like this metallic silver metallic bucket and you put you just put a bunch of, you know, like rice and, like, a bunch of vegetables and, like, different ingredients, sesame seeds and some eggs and then you mix that shit up and you also pair this with kimchi and you're like, Oh my god!
We have so much to eat!
Fried dumplings, not gonna lie, doesn't stand alone as a meal.
It's gotta just stay as like an appetizer or like a side dish.
This is really tough.
Two types of people in the world.
People who like Gummandu and people who like steamed mandu I like soft.
The soft, watery type.
Gummandu for me, I don't know, it's hard to just bite into.
Plus Old Boy, like the movie Old Boy.
After watching Old Boy, just like, Geumann do just represents something else.
Okay.
So I'm going with Yangpuni Bibimbap.
Next is Ojinogui, which is grilled squid, and Maktae, which is grilled dried pollock.
Yo.
You know how much I love Maktae?
Did I tell you about this?
Maktae is one of my favorite snacks.
There's a place nearby here that I always order from.
They give you Maktae with this little container that has soy sauce, mayo, and Cheongnyeon Gochu, which is like really hot Korean peppers, right?
And you mix it together to make the dip, and then you dip Moktae in there.
Heaven.
Heaven on Earth!
Do you know that at Korean movie theatres you can order popcorn and Moktae?
You can get Moktae at CGV.
So I always get Moktae with my popcorn and I'm like dying.
I'm legit dying.
Like I went with Haru and Haru ordered a humongous iced tea.
I can't even believe they sell it in that size.
It's so fucking big.
And I'm like, Why did you get that?
We're gonna be watching like a two and a half hour movie, we're gonna go to the bathroom like twice.
And why would you drink that much, right?
And I ordered like just a small regular sized iced tea and Hotteok was like, You watch, Daddy.
You watch.
And I'm like, What do you mean?
And then we go into the theater and I, of course, again have my popcorn and my Maktae, and I'm eating the shit out of it, right?
And it gets really dry, so I'm like drinking my iced tea and I finish my iced tea.
But I still have a lot of Maktae left.
And I'm eating the Maktae and then I'm chasing it with popcorn.
So I'm like, Oh my God, need to drink.
I'm like, Haru, can I have a little bit of your thing?
And she's like, Si?
啥?
Si?
What would you do without me?
Now you understand, right, why I need this?
Maktae is so good.
So I'm going with Maktae.
Obviously grilled squid is like fire, but Meoktae is like a different level of good.
But it really depends on the sauce that they give you.
If they don't give you the combination, like the soy sauce, mayo with Cheongyang gochu with the peppers, If they don't give you that, then you need to move to a different Maktae place because they're not Maktae ing right.
Let me just say something.
So when we first went on our US tour, like Epik High, like way back in the day, we worked with mostly the same crew.
And our crew is entirely they're all American.
We don't have many Korean people on the staff, so they weren't used to Korean food or snacks.
They had like galbi or they had Korean barbecue, but they've never had specific snacks.
But after working with us for years, they've tried pretty much everything because we always go to Korean spots and now when we go, we do a show, get into the backstage and we're like What do you guys want to eat?
You'll see some white dude screaming out Yo, let's get some of that Gopchang!
That's what it's like now.
They know all of this.
They know the Maktae.
They know the Gopchang.
Okay?
They know the Makchang.
Okay, next is Jeon which is Korean pancakes versus Dubu Kimchi which is tofu with stir fried kimchi.
Okay, Jeon is not doing it justice by calling it Korean pancakes because it has nothing to do with dessert.
It's not a pancake, it's not sweet.
We just call it pancake because it's flat.
But then a pizza is a pancake.
Okay?
This makes no sense.
It's just like vegetables and different ingredients turned into a very, very thin pancake versus Dubu Kimchi which is literally tofu with kimchi on the side.
And you might be like, What?
That's just tofu and kimchi.
Yeah it is, but somehow it's not just that.
Somehow it's its own thing.
It tastes so good.
There's also another place nearby that has really good tuba kimchi because Haru loves tuba kimchi.
Haru's taste is very harmony.
I don't know where she got it but she likes Tteokanitang.
Tteokanitang is like joint soup.
Okay.
Like I said, a lot of our dishes sound terrible when you say it in English, but the English is inadequate.
Tastes really good.
And she loves Dubu Kimchi.
So I'm going go with Dubu Kimchi because Dubu Kimchi is just You know, for some reason, I don't really like Cheon that much.
Next is Goldbangy Songyeon, which is a spicy sea snail salad with noodles.
We need to come up with different English translations for these dishes because seriously, it just sounds like not as good in English.
Gopang y Songyeon versus Gpo and beer.
Which is Gpo is dried foul fish fillet?
Foul fish?
And some kind of fish flatten, like you flatten the shit out of some fish and then you dry it.
Okay?
And then you rip it up and you eat it like you eat it like beef jerky, basically.
It's like it's like Korean beef jerky, but there's no beef and it's like fish.
And you you usually have it with some beer and it's really good.
Okay.
First of all, gold banging, Sotteokyeon, is a must at every dinner table when you're eating meat especially.
It just tastes good with everything.
And let me just say, they could they they should call it gold banger, Sotteok, because it's a banger and it's gold.
Okay?
And Gipo and beer is just a light snack.
It's just something to have on the side like peanuts.
So I'm going with Gold Banger, Sotteok.
Gold Banger, Sotteok.
Next is Goon Garaetteok and Gul, which is roasted rice cake.
So basically, this without the sauce.
This without the sauce.
It's like Tteokbokki, but thicker.
It's like a rice cake kind of.
With honey.
You dip it in honey and eat it.
Or Hotteok which is Korean sweet pancake.
See how we use the word pancake for everything because we don't have enough words to describe what these things are.
Not a actually it kind of isn't.
Hotteok is like a pancake but it's got like this sweet thing inside the thing and you bite into it and you do NOT bite into it as soon as you get it.
If you're visiting Korea and you buy Hotteok, do not bite into it as soon as you receive it because it may seem cool down enough on the outside, but when you bite into it, you're in for a world of pain.
Like, you will seriously fucking burn your tongue off.
So wait a little bit or rip it and like to get the insides to cool down and then eat it.
Gopdog is a street food.
You'll usually buy it on the street and eat it like as you walk or right there at the stall.
And roasted rice cake and honey is usually like like at a sit down place, right?
I'm gonna go with Garaetteok and Gul.
Okay, now we're in the semi finals I think.
Okay, it's Chicken versus Jokbal.
So fried chicken versus braised pig's feet.
Chicken, there's no point in thinking about it.
Korean chicken just wins.
Okay, now it's stir fried Gopchang which again is stir fried pork intestines with vegetables.
It sounds like that but it tastes so good Versus Bingsu which is a terrible matchup.
It's like having a battle rapper go against like a polka singer.
I mean, if you must choose, you can, but you're like, What do you base this shit on?
Okay.
Gopchang versus Bingsu.
I'm going with Gopchang.
I mean, I'm not a dessert person.
I'll eat dessert, but Gopchang wins.
Okay.
Ramyeon versus whoever just wins.
Ramyeon versus Tteokbokki?
Oh shit.
Oh shit.
There's basically two puffers is Biggie.
How am I supposed to choose?
But like I said, I ride and die for Ramyeon all day.
Put Ramyeon up against anything, anything, and Ramyeon wins.
Tteokbokki out.
Okay, next, Makchang versus Sundae.
Oh, this is tough.
Sundae is a classic.
Makchang is also a classic, but as readily available.
But I'm going with Makchang Gooey.
I have a lot of good memories.
Thanks to Makchang Gooey.
Okay, next is Chapagetti and Green Onion Kimchi versus Corbang is Woman Is that even a question?
Chapagetti all the way!
Dubu Kimchi versus Yangpuni Bibimbap which is homemade bibimbap.
You know what?
I'm going with tubu kimchi.
I'm going with tofu and kimchi.
Because it's also very good for you.
You're literally eating vegetables.
Tubu kimchi is like a vegan meal that like people don't even think that it's a vegan meal.
They just aren't aware of it, but they're eating a lot of vegetables and it's really good.
Okay, next is Meoktae versus Sotteok versus Roasted Rice Cake and Honey, Gung, Garaetteok and Gul.
Okay, one of these has to go out.
Yo, to be honest, I can do without Sotteok.
I'm getting rid of Sotteok.
I don't know what like, do you like Sotteok?
I don't know why it's so popular.
It's too sweet for me.
Okay, fried chicken versus Yacha Gopchang 100% Fried Chicken.
Ramyeon versus Chapagetti.
Ramyeon versus Chapagetti is crazy.
This matchup should not happen right now.
This is like these are the World Cup finals right now, like at the beginning.
This is not right.
It kills me to let one go.
You know, quite often I'll mix the both of them into one dish because I love it so much.
天哪
Damn.
You know what's crazy?
This morning I had Chapagetti.
It was so good.
Yeah.
Let me think.
Let's say I am, like, I am on a diet and I'm I've been working out all week and I'm allowed one cheat meal.
Would I eat Ramyeon or would I eat Chapagetti?
Damn!
This is not easy.
Can the Ramyeon also have an egg and pagimchi?
Really?
To make it fair?
对。
Yep.
This is not easy.
This is possibly the most difficult thing I've ever had to do in my life.
Damn, bro.
You know what?
This is gonna sound crazy.
It's gonna it's honestly gonna it might get me cancelled.
Some people are gonna be mad, but you know, I gotta make a decision.
I'm going with Chapagetti.
What is your reason?
If I'm allowed only one meal, Chapagetti is just more filling.
Ramyeon is great for my taste buds but not as filling as Chapagetti.
Chapagetti
Chapagetti just embraces my insides.
You know, it's just it's like Chapagetti is just fuller.
I like Chapagetti because it's fuller.
It was not easy!
Okay, now I have to do Makchang versus Tubeugimchi.
Makchang Gooey all the way.
I mean it's got meat!
Okay, and now it's Meoktae versus Okay, so this is like the battle that no one really cares about.
So this is like, you know, like you go to a like a boxing match and then you have like a side match that like, you know, you'll watch and but you don't really care who wins.
So it's Maktae versus roasted rice cake and honey.
I'm going with Maktae all the way.
I have never or like, I love Roasted rice cake and honey, but I will I will I've never ordered it at night.
But Meoktae, I order it all the time, so that's out.
Okay.
Now for the final four.
First, let me introduce the contestants again.
The final four is Korean fried chicken.
So, let's say, with beer.
Okay?
And then there's Chapagetti with egg and Da Kimchi and we have Makchang Gwi which is grilled pork intestines, and we have grilled dried pollock.
Okay, well I know who the weakest contestant is.
Honestly, Ramyeon should have been here, but Ramyeon unfortunately went against Chapagetti in an earlier round.
And it was like a split decision.
It was very difficult.
So let's go.
First, I'm gonna do Makchang versus Makpae.
好的。
Okay.
Let's look at it from different angles here.
Makchang is tasty as hell, but on the health side, would think that maktae is better.
But maktae seems like a dried snack, like chips almost.
So you would think that it doesn't have a lot of calories.
Oh my God!
It has a lot of calories.
So you're on a date.
What would you eat?
You would eat Makchang.
But you're in a movie theater on a date.
What would you eat?
You would eat Makchang.
You're watching YouTube at night.
Oh, you're watching YouTube and you're watching Epic Kaze at night.
Shit, both would work honestly.
You know what?
I'm going with Makchang.
Maktae。
Maktae.
You knew you didn't have a chance.
Big match: Fried Chicken versus Chapagetti.
I know I'm gonna be dragged for this and I'll be letting down a lot of people.
But Chicken is out!
Can I eat fried chicken every day?
I cannot.
I personally cannot.
And I have to switch up chicken places a lot because every chicken place in Korea tastes a little bit different.
Like after two-three times in a row at one chicken place, I can't just keep eating it.
But Chapagetti is the same Chapagetti.
Every time you open it up, it's the same Chapagetti, but I can eat it literally every day and be fine.
Okay?
So I'm going with Chapagetti.
And like, Chapagetti works so well with Netflix.
I believe a Netflix subscription in Korea should come with Ramyeon or Chapagetti.
Or some spam or something, you know?
Like Netflix needs to thank all the Korean late night Yajik places because like the reason why Netflix revenue in Asia, in Korea specifically has been like going up.
It's not just because like, you know, Korean shows have been doing amazing and we create really good shows.
It's because we have like such good snacks to eat while you watch or like while you try to decide what to watch on Netflix.
Now we're down to the final two.
It's Chapagetti and Green Onion Kimchi versus Makchang Gwi.
Not gonna lie, I just wanna eat both right now.
I just wanna put some Chapagetti on top of the Makchang Gwi.
Oh, shit.
Just imagine.
Or put the Makchang Gwi inside the Chapagetti, mix it up, and then you just like you put it in a Yangpuni and just mix it up.
Oh my god.
This is difficult because it's so different.
I'm going with Chapagetti.
It's super cheap.
It's like fucking less than a dollar for a meal.
A meal you can get for a dollar just beat all these different snacks and desserts and dishes.
Right?
Of course, it's a personal preference, but if it wasn't Chapagetti, it would have been Ramyeon, which is also the same price.
So it's incredible that we have like this the most tasty thing is the most affordable option.
And if it wasn't for the fact that it's probably very bad for you to eat this every single day, I would eat it every single day.
And I am just waiting for technology to catch up to the point where like somehow turned into something magically good for me.
That's all I need.
Will eat it literally every day.
And if you're watching Chapagetti, if you're watching or Ramyeon places like Ramyeon companies, if you're watching, just know that Hey!
Tableau can be bought with just a lifetime supply of Chapagetti and lifetime supply of Ramyeon.
See you next week.
