Today is Thursday, 04/30/2026, and we begin with Timmy the Whale officially on the move.

就像我们一周前报道的，德国近海有一头44英尺长的座头鲸，搁浅一个多月了，最近一大群救援队赶去营救。

As we reported a little over a week ago, a huge rescue operation descended on the shallow waters near Germany to save the 44 foot long humpback who's been beached just offshore for more than a month.

之前试过用气垫把它抬离沙地，但没成功，后来挖通的一条水道才派上用场。

Inflating pillows to lift him off the sand didn't work, but a recently dredged channel did.

这条水道让提米自己游进了艘大型平底货船，船里注满了水，现在正往北海方向拖去。

It allowed him to swim right into a huge water filled flat bottomed barge, which is now being propelled into the North Sea.

截至昨天，这趟旅程已经把提米带到了丹麦附近。

As of yesterday, the whale's ride had taken Timmy as far as Denmark.

大家希望，等它被放归大海后，能自己找到回家的路，回到大西洋的故乡。

It's hoped that once Timmy is released, he'll find his way back to his native habitat in the Atlantic.

一些海洋学家觉得这头鲸鱼救不回来了，但资助这次私人救援行动的人相信，它现在状态还不错，至少值得一试。

Some oceanographers are doubtful the whale can be saved, but those financing the private mission believe he is well enough to at least try.

And as one German official put it, Something like this has never happened before in Germany, where a life saving operation of this kind has been carried out.

A food fight of sorts is shaping up in the military.

The Navy told USA Today that it's common to run out of fresh produce on ships but that the only complaints they received were from sailors who didn't care for the vegetable of the day.

The California Adventure Park has added facial recognition to some entry lanes, a move that the Walt Disney Company says will prevent fraud and speed up re entry into the park.

According to The Guardian, the technology can be used determine whether someone has already entered Disneyland or its companion, California Adventure Park, and can crack down on unauthorized annual pass sharing.

这一举措正值执法部门、体育场馆和其他娱乐场所纷纷试用人脸识别技术，同时也因侵犯隐私而饱受批评之际。

The move comes at a time when law enforcement, sports parks and other entertainment venues are experimenting with facial recognition and facing criticism over privacy infringement.

The San Francisco Chronicle asked the public for help in naming five new fully electric Bay Ferry vessels, the first in The US, that will be joining the current fleet over the next few years.

Readers submitted more than 1,500 names.
