I'm moving all of my episodes of Luke's English Podcast from Podomatic to a new host.

从现在开始，播客的每一集都会上传到Audioboo。

From now on, the episodes of the podcast will be uploaded to Audioboo.

Well, it's audioboo.fm.

你要是上audioboo.fm，搜一下‘Luke的英语播客’，就能找到一个专门的频道，里面几乎包含了我所有的节目。

If you visit audioboo.fm, then you'll find, well, if you search for it, if you just search for Luke's English Podcast, you'll find a channel devoted to Luke's English Podcast, and there are all of the episodes, all of my pretty much all of the episodes.

可能几年前的视频集没被迁过来。

You might find that the video episodes from a couple of years ago didn't get transferred.

So I'm leaving Podomatic.

Why?

Why am I doing that?

首先，Podomatic现在的费用对我来说太高了。

Well, firstly, Podomatic is now just too expensive for me.

继续把节目上传到Podomatic，还维持它作为我的主要托管平台，这花销实在太大了。

It's too expensive for me to just continue posting episodes onto onto Podomatic and to keep sort of maintaining that as my main host for the podcast.

每年花一大笔钱给Podomatic，我实在觉得不值，因为 elsewhere 我能以更低的价格获得更好的服务。

I can't really justify paying a large sum of money every year to Podomatic when I can actually get a much better service for a lower price elsewhere.

我四年前半开始用Podomatic，没多久就得升级服务。

So, I mean, I started with Podomatic four and a half years ago, and quite quickly, I had to upgrade.

你知道的， podcast越来越火，我不得不一再升级，传的数据量 huge，他们收了我一大笔钱。

You know, I had to upgrade and then upgrade again because the podcast got more and more popular, and I ended up transferring a massive amount of data across Podomatic's servers, and they charged me a lot of money for that.

所以这是其中一个原因。

So that's one of the reasons.

其实去年这个时候，Podomatic自动从我账户扣了一大笔钱，作为续费。

I just in fact, last year around this time, Podomatic took a large lump sum from my bank account automatically as a as a kind of continuation of my subscription with them.

当时我吓了一跳，心想不能再让这种事发生第二次。

And when that happened, it was kind of a shock, and I thought I'd I must not let this happen again.

所以我去年就答应自己，到今年这个时候，一定要离开Podomatic，换个平台。

So I promised myself last year that by this time, this year now, I promised myself that I'd move away from Podomatic and go somewhere else.

现在这个时间到了，我不得不兑现自己一年前定下的目标，而且真的做到了。

And that time has come, and so I've I've I've had to meet my own deadline, which I set myself a year ago, and it's actually happening.

所以我特别开心，因为这事终于成了。

So I'm I'm very happy because it's really happening.

我正在离开Podomatic，转到一个更好的平台。

I'm moving away from Podomatic and moving to somewhere better.

所以说实话，我觉得Podomatic已经不适合我了。

So, yeah, really, I don't think Podomatic are appropriate for me anymore.

他们更适合那些播放量没那么高的创作者。

They are more suitable for people with, you know, fewer downloads.

而且他们主要托管音乐混音之类的节目，而我做的是纯口语类的教育和知识类内容。

Also, they tend to, host kind of music mixes and stuff, and I'm really a spoken word educational sort of entertainment education, service.

正如我所说，Podomatic的带宽收费太贵了。

Podomatic, as I've said, they charge too much for bandwidth.

我去年就答应过自己要换平台，现在我做到了。

I promised myself last year that I would move, and so I've done that.

去年他们收了我一大笔钱，我当时就下定决心不能再被宰一次。

So, yeah, they they charged me a lot of money last year, and I thought I'm not gonna let that happen again.

Was quite a shock.

It was a shock to me, and it was a shock to my bank account.

I mean, really, should be more organized so that I can account for these things, but I'm not that organized.

Not everyone is some kind of super organized accountant.

So I don't like getting shocks, and my bank account doesn't like getting shocks.

So I thought it's time to move, and that's exactly what I've done.

But that's not the only reason.

It's not just for the money.

Although, you know, obviously, that's kind of a fairly reasonable consideration.

I also believe that Audioboo, my new host, will actually be a better service for you, my listeners.

First of all, I think it should work better.

技术问题也会少很多。

There should be fewer technical problems.

你们可能遇到过在Podomatic上听播客时，音频加载特别慢的情况。

You might have experienced some problems with episodes of the podcast on Podomatic kind of taking a long time to to stream.

下载时也可能遇到过各种问题之类的。

You might have had some downloading problems and stuff like that.

另外，我发现他们的网站功能也太简单了。

Also, I found that their website is just a little bit kinda basic.

所以希望 Audioboo 能提供稍微好一点的服务。

So hopefully, Audioboo will provide just a slightly better service.

界面看起来也会更精致一些。

It should look a little bit slicker.

整体视觉效果也会更美观。

It should look a little bit nicer too.

这样我往不同网站嵌入音频播放器也更方便了。

And so it's it's slightly easier for me to embed the audio players onto different websites.

It should be easy for you as well if you want to embed episodes of Luke's English Podcast onto your website or other places.

It's quite easy to do that with Audioboo.

It's it's really easy to navigate the page where all the episodes are uploaded.

And also, something that's really cool is it gives you the opportunity to leave audio comments on episodes of Luke's English Podcast, which are posted on Audioboo.

They are registered in The UK, and its head office is in London on Tower Bridge Road, which is a very central London location just just next to Tower Bridge, which, of course, is one of London's famous landmarks.

It's just there, just near the river next to City Hall, Tower Bridge Road.

Teachers like me, for example, and there are other educational services on Audioboo.

And and also broadcasters like the BBC who use Audioboo to share audio from their radio programs.

So you can find BBC Radio four's Today program.

They post audio onto onto Audioboo and other other BBC broadcasters too.

所以，说白了，我要搬去Audioboo，和一群志同道合的人住在一起，而不是继续在Podomatic上发布我的节目，那边主要都是DJ在活跃，虽然也挺酷的。

So, basically, I'll be moving in with a community of like minded people at Audioboo instead of kind of posting my episodes onto Podomatic, which is mainly frequented by DJs, which is cool.

我是说，我很喜欢DJ，也喜欢他们放的音乐，但那毕竟不是一回事。

I mean, I love, like, you know, DJs and the music they play, but it's not exactly the same thing.

In fact, every friend who almost everyone who added me as a friend on Podomatic was a house DJ.

And there's me trying to record episodes of Luke's English Podcast, and there's just lots of DJs mixing and scratching all over the place.

所以搬到Audioboo，就意味着我能和一群真正志同道合的人做邻居了。

So moving to Audioboo just means I'll be, surrounded by like minded people.

It'll be it'll be like moving into some kind of broadcasting house, let's say.

It's not the it's not like moving into the BBC, but I'll be sharing some spaces.

You know, I'll be sharing the same space as some BBC broadcasters.

So I just think generally it's more appropriate.

In fact, you can use Audioboo to find plenty of other listening resources and great things to listen to as a way of keeping your British English up to date and fresh.

So if you if you're kind of on Audioboo, you can surf around, look at the categories, you know, search for things in the search bar, and just have a look, and you might find other interesting bits of audio that you can listen to.

So I think it's an improvement.

So what about Podomatic, you might be asking yourselves?

What about all the amazing episodes of Luke's English Podcast that are already uploaded onto Podomatic?

它们会怎么样？

What's gonna happen to them?

这些内容都会自动迁移到 Audioboo 上。

Well, they are all being moved over to Audioboo automatically.

这正是 Podomatic 能做到的事情之一。

This is one of the things that Podomatic can do.

实际上，只要能访问 RSS 订阅源，几乎任何网站都能这么做。

In fact, pretty much any website can do this if they have access to the RSS feed.

So in fact, they're all going through right now, and if I keep checking, find that more episodes have been added.

So, yes, as I said, they'll all be moved over to Audioboo automatically.

You'll be able to to to listen to them through Audioboo and download them just like you could before.

In fact, if you want to download an episode of Luke's English Podcast from Audioboo, what you need to do is just find that episode on Audioboo.

这其实很简单。

It's pretty simple.

比如说，如果我把帖子发到Facebook上，你只要点一下Facebook里的那集节目，就会直接跳转到Audioboo上的那一集。

You know, if for example, if I've posted it onto Facebook, you just click on the episode on Facebook, and it'll take you to that episode on Audioboo.

打开播放器后，你会看到一个播放按钮。

And then when you've got the player, you can see there's a a play button.

你只要在播放按钮上右键点击，就能选择下载文件。

You just right click on that play button and then you can choose to download the file like that.

如果你是在我WordPress页面上看到的Audioboo嵌入播放器，操作就有点不一样。

If you have if you're looking at an embedded player from Audioboo on my WordPress page, that's slightly different.

在WordPress的嵌入播放器里，你不能右键点击播放按钮。

You can't right click on the play button on an embedded player on WordPress.

你得点一下显示‘Audioboo’的那个链接，它会带你跳到Audioboo上对应那集的页面，然后你再右键点击播放按钮就行。

Instead, have to click on the click where it says Audioboo, and that will take you to the the page on Audioboo for that episode, and then you can just right click on the play button.

This is I know this is extremely exciting information.

This kind of technical stuff is just riveting and fascinating and very sexy.

So, if you choose to, download episodes of Luke's English Podcast from WordPress, simply click on where it says Audioboo on the embedded player.

点击后会跳转到Audioboo的对应页面，你只要像平常一样右键点击播放按钮，就能下载了。

That will transfer you across to the relevant page on Audioboo where you will then be able to simply download by right clicking on the play button in the normal way.

If you're using Windows, you would right click and then select save file as.

如果你用的是苹果电脑——说实话，我个人不太认同这种选择，我本人就是个Windows派——那就右键点击播放按钮，选‘下载链接文件’。

If you're an Apple Mac user, which, you know, I personally disagree with, I'm I'm definitely a Windows kinda guy, then you should right click on the play button and then just select download linked file as.

我不会整集都用这种语气说话，那样只会更无聊。

I'm not gonna speak like that for the rest of the episode because it just makes it even more boring.

也许我该在背景里加点活泼的音乐，让整体听起来更带点活力，更轻松有趣一点。

Maybe maybe what I should do is add some sort of sort of vibrant music to the back of this to make it sound even more well, to try and make it sound more upbeat and fun.

Because let's face it, this kind of technical news could bore the pants off you.

Well, the iTunes service should not be disrupted at all.

我的计划是把 iTunes 连接到我新的 RSS 订阅源。

The plan is that I will connect iTunes to my new RSS feed.

所以你依然能从 iTunes 自动获取新旧集数。

So you'll still be able to get new and old episodes automatically from iTunes.

如果你已经在 iTunes 上订阅了 Luke 的英语播客，别担心。

So if you've if you subscribe to Luke's English Podcast on iTunes, don't worry.

只要一上传新内容，它就会自动下载下来。

It'll continue to download episodes whenever they are uploaded.

There's a way for me to basically kind of connect the old RSS feed with the new RSS feed, and eventually iTunes will just start downloading from Audioboo instead of Podomatic, and everything will just transfer smoothly without any problems.

So how do you post an audio comment to an episode?

你可以先在 WordPress 上听一集，或者从 iTunes 下载下来，随便哪种方式都行。

Well, what you can do is listen to an episode on on WordPress, or you can download it from iTunes or whatever.

就用平常的方式听一集，说不定听了之后就想回应了。

Just listen to an episode the normal way, and you might be inspired to respond.

你可能会对这集内容有想法，或者想发表点评论。

You might have something to say about the episode or you might wanna comment.

你应该去 Audioboo 上找这一集。

What you should do is visit the episode on Audioboo.

我之前说过，你只要点击 WordPress 上嵌入播放器里写着 'Audioboo' 的地方就行。

So as I've said before, you click on where it says Audioboo on the embedded player on WordPress.

点一下就会跳转到那个页面。

You click there and it will take you to the page.

到了 Audioboo 上找到这集后，你会在节目下方看到一个选项，写着 '添加评论' 或 '录制评论'。

And once you've found the episode on Audioboo, you will see below the episode, it says add a comment or record a comment.

So if you just add a comment, you can type one.

If you record a comment, that's where you can actually upload your voice.
