Speaker 0

我觉得每个人都在听Luke's English Podcast。

I think everyone listens to Luke's English Podcast.

Speaker 1

外星人不懂英语,所以这节目对他们来说很重要。

Aliens, they don't know English, so it's important.

Speaker 0

现在他们懂了。

They do now.

Speaker 1

他们正在学呢。

Well, they're learning it.

Speaker 0

他们一直在听卢克的英语播客,我估计再过几年,外星人就会觉得自己已经准备好加入我们了。

They've they've they've been listening to Luke's English Podcast, and I I expect within the next, I don't know, the next few years, the aliens are gonna feel that they're ready to join us.

Speaker 0

我们可下不去。

We can't come down.

Speaker 0

他们会来,你知道他们会怎么说吗?

They'll they'll they'll the aliens will arrive, and you know how they'll talk?

Speaker 0

他们会说得跟我一模一样。

They'll talk like me.

Speaker 0

他们会全都下来,说:你好。

They'll they'll all come down and say, hello.

Speaker 0

我来自太空,特地过来见见卢克,卢克英语播客的那个卢克。

I'm here, from space and I've come down in order to, meet, Luke from Luke's English Podcast.

Speaker 0

带我去见你们的首领。

Take me to your leader.

Speaker 0

卢克在哪儿?

Where is Luke?

Speaker 1

卢克就是领导者。

Luke is the leader.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

看起来是这样。

Apparently.

Speaker 0

因为他们只听过卢克的英语播客。

Because this they're they've only listened to Luke's English Podcast.

Speaker 0

这是他们自己的选择。

It's their own

Speaker 1

这责任可不轻。

It's a lot of responsibility.

Speaker 0

我知道。

I know.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

但愿他们是和平的外星人。

Let's just hope that they're peaceful aliens.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

要是他们不友好,肯定会露馅的,毕竟他们懂英语。

Like, well, they'll tell you if if they're not because they will know English.

Speaker 0

他们会来找我,说:‘你就是卢克,卢克英语播客的那个对吧?’

They'll come to me and they say, you're Luke from Luke's English Podcast, aren't you?

Speaker 0

那你就举手吧,因为我们准备接管地球了。

Well, put your hands up, because we're we're we're we're taking over the world.

Speaker 0

明白吗?

Okay?

Speaker 0

我会说:‘你说话怎么跟我一模一样?你们该不会一直在听卢克英语播客吧?’

And I'd say, this is really weird that you speak like me because, what, have you been listening to Luke's English Podcast?

Speaker 0

他们都会说:‘是的。’

And they'll all go, yes.

Speaker 0

这集的开头可真够奇怪的,不过我们Luke's English Podcast一向就这么随意。

This is a very strange beginning to the episode, but, it's just the way we do things here at, at Luke's English Podcast.

Speaker 0

这集叫《一杯咖啡》,没错。

So, this episode is called a cup of coffee Yes.

Speaker 0

嘉宾是莎拉·唐纳利。

With Sarah Donnelly.

Speaker 1

你好。

Hello.

Speaker 0

你好,莎拉。

Hello, Sarah.

Speaker 0

嗨。

Hi.

Speaker 0

通常这系列节目都叫《一杯茶》,但这一回我们喝的是咖啡。

Now, normally, these episodes are called a cup of tea with someone, but we're drinking coffee in this this one.

Speaker 1

我们喝咖啡是因为我是美国人,美国人最爱喝咖啡了。

We're having coffee because I'm American and Americans love coffee.

Speaker 0

确实如此。

They do.

Speaker 0

美国的咖啡文化非常成熟。

America is is very well developed in terms of its coffee drinking culture.

Speaker 0

你们开发出了各种各样的产品,很多周边设备,真的吗?

You've in you've innovated all kinds of products, lots of peripheral products Really?

Speaker 0

都是为了更好地喝咖啡。

To help in the coffee drinking Well process.

Speaker 1

我家里有四台不同的咖啡机。

I actually own four coffee four different kinds of coffee makers.

Speaker 0

非得有四台吗?

Is that absolutely necessary?

Speaker 0

怎么会有四台呢?

Well Have four?

Speaker 1

因为每种都能做出不一样的口感,我有一台意式咖啡机。

Well, you get a different so I have an espresso machine.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 0

奈斯派索。

Nespresso.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 1

它能做意式浓缩咖啡和真正的欧洲风味咖啡。

Which does your espressos and your actual your good European coffees.

Speaker 0

嗯,没错。

Mhmm.

Speaker 0

顺便说一下,还有其他类型的咖啡机。

Other other coffee makers are available, by the way.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 1

不过说起来,是这样的。

But in the same vein, you know Mhmm.

Speaker 1

我还有一个摩卡壶,用来煮手冲咖啡。

I have a Mr.

Speaker 1

它就是用来做滴滤咖啡的。

Coffee, which does your filter drip coffee.

Speaker 0

明白了。

Okay.

Speaker 0

就是那种美式咖啡的味道。

Americano type thing.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

这是美式风格的咖啡。

It's the American style coffee.

Speaker 1

你得用滤纸来冲。

You have a filter.

Speaker 1

你把咖啡粉放进去。

You put it in the grounds.

Speaker 1

然后让水一滴一滴地滤过。

You have the water drip through it.

Speaker 1

所以喝起来味道比较淡,我觉得。

So you have a a lighter coffee, I guess.

Speaker 1

对。

Mhmm.

Speaker 1

我用的是意大利浓缩咖啡壶。

I have an Italian espresso machine.

Speaker 1

那不是一台机器。

It's not a machine.

Speaker 1

它是个

It's a a

Speaker 0

我知道。

I know.

Speaker 1

就是放在炉子上煮的那种壶。

A pot you put on the stove.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

就像以前学校食堂用的那种。

Like an old school cafeteria yeah.

Speaker 1

法式压滤壶。

Cafetiere.

Speaker 0

我特别喜欢这种东西。

I love those things.

Speaker 0

它分成三个部分。

That's that's like it's in three parts.

Speaker 0

没错。

Yep.

Speaker 0

你先把水倒进那个部分,对。

So you've got the bit that you pour the water Yeah.

Speaker 0

水倒进去,放在炉子上,然后把那个小滤器放进去。

Into, and that goes on top of the stove, and then you lower a little sort of filter into that.

Speaker 1

用它来做意式咖啡,盖上顶部,水从下面烧开,往上走。

With the espresso, and then you put the top part on and the water boils from the top and goes from the bottom and goes to the top.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

水会慢慢穿过咖啡粉,

It kind of comes through the coffee and

Speaker 1

差不多是这样,

sort of

Speaker 0

然后溢出来,流进下面的壶里。

spills spills over over into into the the Yep.

Speaker 0

对。

Yep.

Speaker 0

流进壶里。

Into the kettle.

Speaker 0

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 0

这样一来就大功告成了。

And then Bob's your uncle.

Speaker 0

你就能喝上一杯香醇的咖啡了。

You've got a lovely cup of coffee.

Speaker 1

我还有一个法式压滤壶,就是个带压杆的玻璃壶。

And I also have a French press, which is just a glass jar that has a press.

Speaker 1

把咖啡粉和水放进去,直接浸泡,然后往下压,把渣子压到壶底。

So you put the coffee in the water, they brew directly, and you just press it down to push the grounds down to the bottom.

Speaker 1

明白了。

Okay.

Speaker 1

这样煮出来的咖啡特别浓,而且分量也大,

So it gives a really strong cup of coffee but in the bigger size that

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

我更喜欢。

I prefer.

Speaker 1

美国人更喜欢。

That Americans prefer.

Speaker 0

我特别喜欢法式压滤壶,就是因为可以亲手把咖啡渣压下去的那个瞬间。

Do you I love those French press style coffee makers because of that moment where you can press the coffee down.

Speaker 0

这难道不妙吗?

Isn't that brilliant?

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

你平时用什么方法冲咖啡?

Do you what's your preferred method for doing that?

Speaker 0

我有两个问题。

Two questions.

Speaker 0

第一,你什么时候压下滤杆?

One, when do you choose to press the coffee down?

Speaker 0

第二,你压得有多快?

And secondly, how quickly do you do it?

Speaker 1

我从不计时。

So I don't time myself.

Speaker 1

我敢肯定真正的咖啡行家听了会说我,你得精确计时,看咖啡豆在热水里泡了多久。

I'm sure the true coffee aficionados would yell at me and say, you know, you need to time the amount, you know, time how long the beans and stuff are sitting in the hot water.

Speaker 1

我就凭感觉来。

I just go when it feels right.

Speaker 1

我觉得差不多了。

I'm like, yeah.

Speaker 1

时间够了吗?

Has it been enough time?

Speaker 1

因为是早上,你还要忙一堆事。

Because it's in the morning, you're doing a bunch of stuff.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

然后你就想,糟了。

And you're like, oh, crap.

Speaker 1

我的咖啡。

My coffee.

Speaker 1

我得赶紧处理一下。

I need to okay.

Speaker 1

我轻轻但坚定地往下压。

I gently and but firmly push down.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

我不觉得需要赶时间,因为那样容易让咖啡粉穿过滤纸漏上来。

I don't feel a need to rush through because I think then you risk the chance of having more of the grounds come up through the filter.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

所以我只是慢慢但稳稳地

So I just kind of slowly, firmly

Speaker 0

只要持续稳定地施加压力在手柄上就行。

Just apply a a steady amount of pressure pressure onto the Yeah.

Speaker 0

手柄。

Handle.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

我也不清楚。

I don't know.

Speaker 1

我甚至想不出该怎么形容。

I don't even know the words.

Speaker 1

在法语里我也不知道该怎么说这个。

I didn't know the words for this in French.

Speaker 1

在英语里我同样说不上来。

I didn't know the words for this in English.

Speaker 1

我就想着,就是上面那个东西,往下压,然后就这样。

I'm like, the thing on top of the thing and you push it down and then yeah.

Speaker 0

是的

Yeah.

Speaker 0

你只需要知道这些就够了。

That's all you need to know.

Speaker 0

有时候‘东西’这个词是语言里最有用的。

Sometimes thing is the most useful word in the language.

Speaker 0

东西啊,还有各种东西。

Thing and and stuff.

Speaker 1

各种东西。

Stuff.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

我未婚夫是法国人。

My fiance is French.

Speaker 1

他老用‘各种东西’这个词,我觉得挺有意思。

He uses stuff a lot, which I find funny.

Speaker 0

是的

Mhmm.

Speaker 1

因为他会用'stuff',就像我用'thing'一样。

Because he would use stuff as maybe I would use thing.

Speaker 1

但总感觉不太准确,总是对不上。

It doesn't it never fits exactly right in I the

Speaker 0

我知道他在说什么。

know what he's doing.

Speaker 0

他是法国人,对他来说,'stuff'和'thing'差不多是一个词。

He's French and so for him, stuff and thing are like the same word.

Speaker 0

对

Yeah.

Speaker 0

所以他管单个东西也叫'stuff'。

So he will refer to one singular item as a stuff.

Speaker 1

没错

Yes.

Speaker 1

对。

Yes.

Speaker 1

对。

Yes.

Speaker 1

对。

Yes.

Speaker 0

所以,比如说,他会有多少个‘stuff’呢?

So, how many stuffs, for example.

Speaker 0

或者,你能把桌上的那个‘stuff’拿过来吗?

Or, can you get that stuff on the table?

Speaker 0

你心里想:哪个‘stuff’啊?

And you're thinking, what stuff?

Speaker 0

就是所有的糖、所有的咖啡,或者别的什么东西?

Well, all the sugar, all the all the coffee or whatever?

Speaker 0

但他指的只是一个东西。

And he's talking about one thing.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

所以,我女朋友也是这么做的。

So, yeah, my girlfriend does exactly the same thing.

Speaker 1

我喜欢这样。

I I I like it.

Speaker 1

我觉得挺可爱的。

I mean, I think it's cute.

Speaker 1

我从不纠正他,因为第一,这也不是什么大事。

I I never correct him because it's, one, not that big of a deal.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

第二,我喜欢了解这些小差异。

And two, I like to know these little differences.

Speaker 1

我觉得挺有意思的。

I think it's cool.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

就是日常生活中这些小小的细节。

Just these small things that happen in our daily life.

Speaker 1

所以我挺喜欢的。

So I like it.

Speaker 0

而且确实给生活增添了一点个性。

And, yeah, adds a little bit of character to

Speaker 1

而且让我觉得特别暖心。

And it makes me smile.

Speaker 1

就像他说的,在法语和英语里,我们说‘头发’的时候,单数和复数形式是一样的。

Like he said, in French in in English, we say hair as a singular and the plural.

Speaker 1

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 1

你有一头头发。

You have your hair.

Speaker 0

对。

Yes.

Speaker 1

比如我去做头发护理,或者头上掉了一根头发。

Like, I'm getting my hair cut, or there's one hair on my head.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 1

但在法语里,头发确实有单数和复数形式。

But in French, you do have a singular and a plural.

Speaker 1

所以法国人说到头发时,会用复数形式。

So when French people, they refer to hair as hairs.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

所以他们会说‘你去剪头发了’,用的是复数。

So, oh, you're getting your hairs cut.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

每一根头发。

Each individual hair.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

我觉得这特别有意思,我未婚夫老这么说,我一直没好意思纠正他,直到有一天我终于说了。

And I think that's so I think it's so funny, and I really and my fiance was he was saying this a lot, and I never wanted to correct him till finally one day I told him.

Speaker 1

他问我:你为啥不早点告诉我?

He's like, why didn't you tell me this?

Speaker 1

因为我觉得吧,英语里本来就挺模糊的,单数复数有时候分不清。

Because I was like, one, it doesn't you know, in English, we can be confusing, and we're like, it's the singular and the plural.

Speaker 1

不过其实你也可以用 hairs 来表示复数。

But if there's but you can also use hairs as a plural too.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

我就跟他说:你这样讲完全没问题。

And I was like, just you're good.

Speaker 1

我明白你的意思,我也挺喜欢的。

I understand what you're saying, and I like it.

Speaker 0

对,没错。

So Yeah.

Speaker 0

有时候最重要的就是把意思传达到位。

Sometimes that's the most important thing, just to get the message across.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

没错。

Right.

Speaker 0

来,我简单给你介绍一下,Sarah。

Now let's let me just, introduce you a little bit, Sarah.

Speaker 0

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 0

Sarah Donnelly,我们之前也说了,你是来自华盛顿特区那边,对吧?

So Sarah Donnelly is we as we've already established, you're from you're from the Washington DC area, aren't you?

Speaker 1

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 1

我来法国之前,住在华盛顿特区,差不多七年了。

I live my the last before I came to France, I was living in DC for about seven years.

Speaker 0

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 0

明白了。

So Okay.

Speaker 0

你现在住在法国,待的时间也跟我差不多。

And so now you live in France and you've been here roughly the same length of time as I have.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 0

那你在这儿也大概一年了。

So you've been here about a year now.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 0

除了做单口喜剧,你还做了

And so as well as doing stand up comedy, which you've been doing for

Speaker 1

多久了?

how long?

Speaker 1

六年了。

Six years.

Speaker 0

到现在六年了。

Six years now.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

除了做单口喜剧,你在这儿还教英语。

Well as doing the stand up thing, you're also an English teacher here in France.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

那你教英语到现在有多久了?

But how long have you been English teaching now?

Speaker 1

我从到法国之后才开始专门教英语的。

I've only been teaching English specifically since I came to France.

Speaker 0

明白了。

Okay.

Speaker 0

那你为什么会来法国呢?

What made you come to France as well?

Speaker 1

我来法国啊,是因为爱情,就像人们常说的那样,对。

Well, I came to France, you know, for love, as one does Mhmm.

Speaker 1

为了和我现在的法国未婚夫在一起。

To be with my now French fiance.

Speaker 1

嗯。

Uh-huh.

Speaker 1

所以我决定,用法国人的话说,就是彻底重新开始。

So I decided to, as they say in French, you quit your life.

Speaker 1

我辞掉了在华盛顿的工作,搬到了巴黎。

I quit my life in DC, and I came to Paris.

Speaker 1

我不只想和他在一起,更想换个节奏,换个生活方式。

I wanted not only to be with him, but to have a change of pace, a change of life.

Speaker 1

我当时想做一些个人项目,就觉得,为什么不试试呢?

I was looking to work on some personal projects, and I thought, why not?

Speaker 1

我懂法语吗?

Do I know French?

Speaker 0

不懂。

Nope.

Speaker 0

你那时候根本不会法语。

You didn't know French

Speaker 1

你那时候根本不会法语。

You didn't know French.

Speaker 0

你刚到的时候。

When you arrived.

Speaker 0

没有。

No.

Speaker 0

但你现在一直在学法语,对吧?

But now you've been studying French, haven't you?

Speaker 1

我从一年多前刚到这儿起,就一直在学法语,基本上没断过。

I've been studying I I've been a student of French basically since I arrived over a little over a year ago.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

我每天去法语学校上两个小时的课。

And I go to French school every day for two hours.

Speaker 0

对。

Mhmm.

Speaker 1

刚开始的时候,我还跟着学校的课程一起学。

And in the beginning, I was also going as part of my school.

Speaker 1

他们有一些讲座和研讨会,我也会去参加。

They had different, like, lectures and seminars, and I would go to those as well.

Speaker 1

但现在我工作更忙了,时间没以前多了。

But now that I'm working more, I don't have as much time.

Speaker 1

所以。

So

Speaker 0

这挺有意思的,因为你不仅是英语老师,还是美式英语的母语者。

So this is interesting because not only are you an English language teacher, teacher, a native speaker of, in this case, American English Yeah.

Speaker 0

你本身也是一个语言学习者。

You're also a language learner yourself.

Speaker 1

我也在学一门外语。

I am learning a foreign language as well.

Speaker 0

明白了。

Okay.

Speaker 0

从某种角度说,你就像我们的听众一样。

So in a sense, you are like, well, like our listeners.

Speaker 0

我们也在学习或者精进一门外语,那就是英语。

We're also learning or or perfecting a a foreign language, in that case English.

Speaker 0

好的。

Alright.

Speaker 0

现在,好吧。

Now alright.

Speaker 0

几周前,我在Facebook上发了一条状态,说第二天要去见我的朋友莎拉,为播客采访她。

So a couple of weeks ago, I actually put on Facebook I I wrote a a status on Facebook saying, tomorrow, I'm going to see my friend Sarah and interview her for the podcast.

Speaker 0

你有什么问题想问她吗?

Do you have any questions for her?

Speaker 0

她是来自华盛顿特区的英语老师,也是一名喜剧演员,目前正在巴黎学法语。

She's an English teacher from Washington DC, a comedian, and a learner of French in Paris.

Speaker 0

把你的问题发给我。

Send me your questions.

Speaker 0

采访定在明天上午11点半。

The interview is scheduled for tomorrow at 11:30AM.

Speaker 0

现在

Now

Speaker 1

结果不幸的是,我得了流感,整整三天都没下床。

And then, unfortunately, I got flu, and I did not leave my bed for three days.

Speaker 1

所以,大家对不起。

So I apologize, everyone.

Speaker 1

对不起啊,Luke。

I'm sorry to Luke.

Speaker 1

谢谢你让我临时取消。

Thank you for letting me cancel last minute.

Speaker 0

没关系。

It's alright.

Speaker 0

完全没问题。

It's absolutely fine.

Speaker 0

不过你现在来了,Facebook上的问题还在呢。

But you're here now, and the questions are still here on Facebook.

Speaker 0

我们收到了大约三十条听众的提问或评论。

We got something in the region of 30 questions or 30 comments from my listeners.

Speaker 1

这样好吗?

Is that good?

Speaker 0

是的,没问题。

That's yeah.

Speaker 0

这很常见。

That's pretty standard.

Speaker 1

常见?

Standard?

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

这个评论数量算是平均水平。

It's pretty average number of number of comments.

Speaker 0

我之前对塞巴斯蒂安也做过同样的事。

I did the same thing with Sebastian.

Speaker 0

我觉得他收到的评论数量差不多。

I think he got a very similar number of comments.

Speaker 0

不知道为什么,我脑子里突然冒出28这个数字。

For some reason, the number 28 springs to mind.

Speaker 1

不过咱们还是查一下吧,我想超过塞巴斯蒂安。

But Well, let's check cause I wanna beat Sebastian.

Speaker 1

塞巴斯蒂安,我想问些问题。

I Sebastian wanna questions.

Speaker 0

如果你的问题比塞巴斯蒂安还多,我一点都不意外。

I wouldn't be surprised if you have more questions than Sebastian.

Speaker 0

但从某种角度说,他作为美国人,比你先一步做到了。

But in a way, he, being an American too, kind of beat you to it.

Speaker 0

我觉得他是我这个播客里第一个邀请的美国人。

He I think he's the first American I ever had on this this podcast.

Speaker 1

但你本来可以先问我啊。

But you could have asked me first.

Speaker 1

我不是想主动打扰你。

That's not I wasn't gonna impose myself

Speaker 0

在播客里。

on podcast.

Speaker 0

我本来一直都想请一位。

And I I always intended to.

Speaker 1

但我可是第一个上节目的美国女性。

But I'm the first American woman.

Speaker 0

没错,确实如此。

Indeed, you are.

Speaker 0

你不是第一个上节目的女性,但绝对是第一个我邀请的美国女性。

You're not the first woman to to be on the show, but you're definitely the first American woman that I've had on this this podcast.

Speaker 0

说实话,我平时请女性嘉宾的次数比我想的要少,所以你来真的很棒。

And I don't, you know, I don't feature women's voices on this program as often as I'd like, so it's very nice to have you here.

Speaker 1

谢谢。

Thank you.

Speaker 1

能来这儿我特别开心。

I'm very happy to be here.

Speaker 0

很好。

Good.

Speaker 0

我们来回答几个问题吧?

Let's get through some of these questions, shall we?

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

好的。

Alright.

Speaker 0

开始吧。

Let's do it.

Speaker 0

那么,看看啊。

So, let's see.

Speaker 0

纳迪尔说:您好,先生。

So Nadir says, hello, sir.

Speaker 0

我注意到美国人有时候很难听懂英国各地的口音。

I am Americans find any difficulty in understanding the regional accents of The UK.

Speaker 0

我也在想,普通人能不能看懂小说,尤其是莎士比亚那种作品。

I also wonder if ordinary people can understand the language of novels, Shakespearean ones.

Speaker 0

提前谢谢您的解答。

Thanks a lot in advance.

Speaker 0

所以第一个问题其实是:作为美国人,您觉得理解英国各地的口音很难吗?

So the first question there really is, do you, as an American, find it difficult to understand different regional accents of The UK?

Speaker 1

对此,我的回答是:确实很难。

And to that, I say yes.

Speaker 1

我曾经在北爱尔兰住过一年。

I actually lived in Northern Ireland for a year.

Speaker 1

那是英国的一部分。

Part of The United Kingdom.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

但你知道,跟不同的人聊,有人会说‘爱尔兰’,其实他们并不知道北爱尔兰并不是一个独立国家。

But when, you know, depending on who you talk to, some people are like, Ireland, some people that don't realize Northern Ireland is a separate country.

Speaker 1

跟人解释这个总是挺有意思的。

That was always fun to explain to people.

Speaker 1

哦,你住在爱尔兰?

Oh, you're living in Ireland?

Speaker 1

其实是北爱尔兰。

Well, it's Northern Ireland.

Speaker 1

它属于英国的一部分。

It's it's actually part of The UK.

Speaker 1

不管怎么说吧。

It's anyways.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

从技术上讲,北爱尔兰属于英国,但它和爱尔兰岛是连在一起的。

Technically, Northern Ireland is part of The UK, but it's connected to the island of Ireland.

Speaker 1

对。

Right.

Speaker 1

从地理上讲,它是分开的。

So geographically, it's separated.

Speaker 0

地理上属于爱尔兰,但政治上属于英国。

Geographically, it's it's Ireland, but politically, it's The UK.

Speaker 0

对。

Right.

Speaker 0

而且,确实过去因此引发过不少问题。

And, yes, that has caused various problems in the past.

Speaker 0

有些人觉得应该和爱尔兰其他地区重新统一,也有人认为应该继续留在英国。

Some people believe it should be reunited with the rest of the country, and other people think that it should stay part of The United Kingdom.

Speaker 1

所以,在那个小地方生活挺有意思的,你知道吗?那时候它根本没有自己的议会,议会早就停摆了。

So the so that was interesting to be in this little a small country, you know, that doesn't at the time, it didn't have its own parliament as parliament had stopped.

Speaker 1

那真是一段很有意思的学习经历。

So it was really interesting learning experience.

Speaker 1

不过回到你刚才的问题,是的,我确实很难听懂各种口音。

But to get back to the question, yes, I have a hard time understanding accents.

展开剩余字幕(还有 480 条)
Speaker 1

不是全部。

Not all.

Speaker 1

北爱尔兰口音和爱尔兰共和国的口音差别很大。

The Northern Irish accent is very different than the Republic Of Ireland accent.

Speaker 1

就连北爱尔兰内部,不同城镇的人说话方式都不一样。

And then even in each region of Northern Ireland in different towns, people sound different.

Speaker 0

对。

Yes.

Speaker 1

这确实容易让人混淆。

So it definitely can be confusing.

Speaker 1

我在那儿待了一年,每次觉得自己终于能听懂了。

And I was there for a year, and every time I think I could understand someone.

Speaker 1

然后我就想,哎,这次我总算搞懂这个口音了。

And I'd be like, yes, I finally I've mastered listening to this accent.

Speaker 1

我都明白了。

I know everything.

Speaker 1

因为我们说的都是英语。

Because we're speaking English.

Speaker 1

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 1

是的。

So Mhmm.

Speaker 1

我是个英语母语者。

I'm an English speaker.

Speaker 1

他们也是英语母语者。

They're a native English speaker.

Speaker 1

按理说我们应该能听懂彼此。

Like, we should be on the same page.

Speaker 1

可每当我觉得自己终于听明白了,

And then whenever I'd have that moment of, alright.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

我都懂。

I understand everything.

Speaker 1

然后突然从哪儿冒出来一个人,谁啊?

Then someone from somewhere, who?

Speaker 1

比如说,某个词就莫名其妙冒出来了。

Like, a word would come from somewhere.

Speaker 1

我就想,啥?

I'd be like, what?

Speaker 1

你刚说啥?

So what did you say?

Speaker 1

抱歉,你说什么?

Excuse me?

Speaker 0

你能举个例子吗?

Can you give us an example?

Speaker 0

也许吧。

Perhaps.

Speaker 1

我可以。

I can.

Speaker 1

有个小说法,叫‘how now brown cow’?

So there's a a little saying of, how now brown cow?

Speaker 1

对。

Yes.

Speaker 1

而且。

And

Speaker 0

等一下。

Wait a minute.

Speaker 0

‘How now brown cow’这句话是用来练习发音的。

How now brown cow is a a sentence which people use as a way of sort of improving pronunciation.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

我觉得这句出现在电影《窈窕淑女》里。

It's I think it's in that film, My Fair Lady.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

我也这么觉得。

I think so.

Speaker 0

brown cow?

How brown cow?

Speaker 1

how now brown brown cow。

How now brown brown cow.

Speaker 1

cow?

Cow?

Speaker 1

明白了。

Okay.

Speaker 1

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 1

但如果你用北爱尔兰口音来说,就会是:hi, nye, Brian, Kai。

But if you were to say it using a Northern Irish accent, it'd be, hi, nye, Brian, Kai.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

嗨,奈。

Hi, nye.

Speaker 0

嗨。

Hi.

Speaker 1

嗨。

Hi.

Speaker 1

所以,呃,嗨,你好吗,奈?

So, like, or hi, how are you, nye?

Speaker 1

就是,你现在怎么样?

Like, how are you now?

Speaker 0

你九号怎么样?

How are you nine?

Speaker 0

你会

Would you

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

好。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

去那里吃还是九?

Dine there or nine?

Speaker 1

去吃。

Dine.

Speaker 1

你来自那个县吗?

Are you from the county dine?

Speaker 1

县下面。

County down.

Speaker 1

所以是不一样的。

So it's it's different.

Speaker 0

所以是这样。

So Yeah.

Speaker 0

比如说,坐下来——按我的口音,我会说‘坐下来’,你可能会说

For example, sit down as I mean, I'd say with my accent, sit down, you would say

Speaker 1

坐下来。

Sit down.

Speaker 0

明白了。

Okay.

Speaker 0

但在北爱尔兰,

But in Northern Ireland,

Speaker 1

是说‘Dine’。

it's Dine.

Speaker 1

说‘Set dine’。

Set dine.

Speaker 1

Dine。

Dine.

Speaker 0

是的

Yeah.

Speaker 0

你就在那儿坐下吧,好吗?

Set yourself dine there and I, would you?

Speaker 0

是的

Yeah.

Speaker 0

你现在坐下吧,好吗?

Sit yourself down now, would you?

Speaker 0

是的

Yeah.

Speaker 0

我在大学时和来自北爱尔兰的人住在一起

I lived with, people from Northern Ireland

Speaker 1

哦,原来如此。

Oh, okay.

Speaker 0

好多年了,所以说实话,这挺有意思的。

For for years at university and so I basically I mean, it's it's it's it's fun.

Speaker 0

我喜欢模仿北爱尔兰口音。

I like doing the Northern Irish accent.

Speaker 1

我也是,其实挺喜欢的。

Me too, actually.

Speaker 0

但我现在很少遇到北爱尔兰人了。

But I don't meet people from Northern Ireland enough anymore.

Speaker 0

所以我觉得自己的口音有点生疏了。

So I feel it's slipping.

Speaker 0

后来我练到能模仿得特别像,听起来就跟他们一模一样。

But I got to a point where I could copy it so well that I actually sounded exactly like one of these guys

Speaker 1

真有意思。

Oh, so fun.

Speaker 0

喂,奈,最近怎么样?

So, like, alright there, Nye.

Speaker 0

你好。

Hi.

Speaker 0

嗨。

Hi.

Speaker 0

你啊,奈。

You, Nye.

Speaker 1

是啊。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 1

你好。

Hi.

Speaker 1

你是不是,奈。

Are you, Nye.

Speaker 0

咬你一口,大个子。

Bite you, big man.

Speaker 1

是啊。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

哦,那关于

Oh, what about

Speaker 0

那关于

What about

Speaker 1

你呢,大个子?

you, big man?

Speaker 1

你呢?

What about you?

Speaker 0

你呢?

What about you?

Speaker 1

太好了。

Yay.

Speaker 1

他们呢?你看到韦恩兄弟了吗?

Are they, did you see the Wayans?

Speaker 0

韦恩兄弟。

Wayans.

Speaker 0

韦恩斯。

Wayans.

Speaker 0

那是个他们用得特别多的词,就在那儿。

Now that's a specific word that they use in Yeah.

Speaker 0

在北爱尔兰。

In Northern Ireland.

Speaker 0

韦恩斯是什么意思?

What's a Wayan?

Speaker 1

意思是孩子。

It's a a means a child.

Speaker 0

就是小的意思。

Meaning small.

Speaker 0

小。

Small.

Speaker 0

孩子就叫韦恩斯。

Is a child and a Wayan.

Speaker 1

所以叫 Weyen。

So it's a Weyen.

Speaker 1

你看到那些 Weyen 了吗?

Did you see the Weyen's?

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

从学校回来。

Coming from school.

Speaker 0

Weyen 就是孩子的意思,我总觉得特别有趣的是,有人会说:‘你瞧她那背影’,就是‘你瞧瞧她那背影’。

So a Weyen is a child and, one I always found very funny was something like, would you look at the beck on her, like, would you look at look at her beck.

Speaker 0

背影?

Beck?

Speaker 0

背影。

Beck.

Speaker 1

那是什么?

What's that?

Speaker 1

鸟喙。

Beak.

Speaker 0

就像鸟的嘴一样。

Like a bird's beak.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

你知道的,就像鸟的嘴巴。

You know, like a the mouth of a bird.

Speaker 1

嗯嗯。

Uh-huh.

Speaker 0

鸟喙。

A beak.

Speaker 0

这个词在我的英语里根本不存在,我说的鸟喙,我是有这个词的,但只是

And that is a word that we I don't even have in my version of English and a beak I mean, I have the word beak for the

Speaker 1

鸟。

A bird.

Speaker 0

你知道的,这是鸟身上的一部分。

You know, for a part of a bird.

Speaker 0

但他们用‘beak’这个词来形容人的脸部某个部位。

But they use the word beak to refer to a a part of someone's face.

Speaker 0

就是脸的下半部分,围绕嘴巴那一块儿。

So it's the whole it's like the bottom part of the face, like around the mouth and that part

Speaker 1

就是如果你是鸟,那里会是你的喙的位置。

of the Where maybe you would have a beak if you were a bird.

Speaker 0

如果你是鸟,你就会有喙。

If you were a bird, you would have a beak.

Speaker 0

但他们看的样子是这样的。

So but they look.

Speaker 0

他脸上长了个大鼻子,意思就是说。

He's got a querbeque on him, like, means

Speaker 1

哦,他们说完事之后也这么说。

Oh, and they say like after everything too.

Speaker 0

是的

Yeah.

Speaker 0

他有个相当明显的喙部特征。

He's got a he's got a fairly he's got a querbeque.

Speaker 0

是的

Yeah.

Speaker 0

意思是他的下颌部位非常特别。

That means he's got a really, very sort of, unique lower part of his mouth.

Speaker 1

你说奇怪,我说特别。

I say strange, you say unique.

Speaker 1

这说法不错。

That's good.

Speaker 0

是的

Yeah.

Speaker 0

但‘querbeque’并不总是表示奇怪的意思。

Quer but querra doesn't always mean strange.

Speaker 0

它也可以表示‘不’。

It can mean No.

Speaker 0

它只是表示‘特别的’。

It just means particular.

Speaker 1

哦。

Oh.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

嘿。

So, hey.

Speaker 0

他有个古怪的后背。

He's got a Queer back.

Speaker 0

他身上有个古怪的后背,意思是他的嘴巴长得有点怪。

She he's got a Queer back on him, like, means he's got a he's got a odd looking mouth.

Speaker 1

这真是挺

That's a pretty that's

Speaker 0

还不错。

pretty good.

Speaker 0

脸。

Face.

Speaker 0

不太行。

Not very good.

Speaker 0

不行。

No.

Speaker 0

我做不到。

I can't do that.

Speaker 0

不行。

No.

Speaker 0

背。

Back.

Speaker 1

还不错。

Pretty good.

Speaker 1

比我的好。

Better than mine.

Speaker 1

如果有来自北爱尔兰的朋友在听,我表示歉意。

I'm sorry if there's anyone from Northern Ireland listening in.

Speaker 0

我也是。

Me too.

Speaker 1

如果我们模仿你们的口音有点夸张,那也只是图个乐子。

If we're butchering your accent but this is we're having fun.

Speaker 1

纯粹是开玩笑,别当真。

It's all in good fun.

Speaker 1

我特别喜欢北爱尔兰的人。

I love the people of Northern Ireland.

Speaker 1

他们总是很友善,那段经历非常美好。

They're always very nice, and it was a wonderful experience.

Speaker 1

不过,是这样的。

But, yeah.

Speaker 1

是的

Yeah.

Speaker 1

听懂其他英语口音确实不容易。

It can be difficult to understand other English dialects.

Speaker 1

然后就是关于莎士比亚的问题。

And then the question about Shakespeare.

Speaker 0

对。

Yes.

Speaker 0

他接着问,普通人能看懂小说里的语言吗?

He he follows up with a question about, do you, you know, do ordinary people understand the language of novels?

Speaker 0

比如莎士比亚时代的那种。

For example, Shakespearean ones.

Speaker 1

莎士比亚

Shakespeare

Speaker 0

说莎士比亚?

say Shakespeare?

Speaker 1

莎士比亚的作品,我觉得对大家都挺难的。

Shakespeare's I it's difficult for everyone, I think.

Speaker 1

你知道,我们在学校学过。

You know, we studied it in school.

Speaker 1

我想第一次接触大概是14岁的时候,当时我们在学《罗密欧与朱丽叶》。

And when you're I think the first one maybe was 14, and we were learning Romeo and Juliet.

Speaker 1

当然,大家都熟悉这个故事,但第一次读原文的时候,确实挺难理解的。

And, of course, everyone knows story, but when you're reading the text for the first time, yeah, that's it's difficult to understand.

Speaker 1

它写于不同的时代。

It's written in a different time.

Speaker 1

所以有一次,我未婚夫来华盛顿特区看我,

So actually when, my fiance was visiting me once in Washington, D.

Speaker 1

那里有几家很棒的莎士比亚剧团。

C, there's a couple of great Shakespeare theater companies.

Speaker 1

我自己学过戏剧,我觉得读剧本是一回事,但最好的还是看它们在舞台上活灵活现地呈现出来。

And having studied theater myself, I love I think reading plays is one thing, but the best is to see them come to life on stage.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 1

我们去福尔杰莎士比亚图书馆看了《驯悍记》,那里收藏了很多来自莎士比亚和伦敦环球剧院的文物,你知道的,他们在华盛顿特区也设了一个小图书馆。

We went to go see The Taming of the Shrew at the Folger Shakespeare Library, which has a bunch of artifacts from Shakespeare and The Globe in London, you know, but they've put them they have a little library here in Washington, DC.

Speaker 1

对。

Mhmm.

Speaker 1

我未婚夫是法国人,英语说得特别好。

And, you know, my fiance is French, and he's an excellent English speaker.

Speaker 1

但作为非英语母语者,他看这部剧还是觉得特别吃力。

But it was very challenging for him as a non native English speaker.

Speaker 1

我本人看的时候也觉得特别吃力。

It was very challenging for me.

Speaker 1

反过来,我们还去看了莫里哀的戏剧。

And then on the inverse, we actually went to go see Moliere play.

Speaker 1

哦,没错。

Oh, yeah.

Speaker 1

莫里哀就像是法国的莎士比亚。

Moliere is like the Shakespeare of France.

Speaker 1

他写的是一种非常古老、典雅的法语。

And he also writes in a very old, high level French And case.

Speaker 1

我其实没太看懂,但……

I that's enjoyed no, but

Speaker 0

你大概只是喜欢那种韵律感,没错。

You enjoyed probably just hearing the rhythm of Exactly.

Speaker 0

还有那种氛围。

And just the yeah.

Speaker 0

就是整体沉浸在聆听这样一部伟大作品的感觉里。

Just the the the whole atmosphere of like listening to these this great work.

Speaker 0

不过回到刚才的问题,我觉得纳迪尔应该读过一些小说,觉得很难懂,对吧。

But going back to that the the the point of the question which I think is basically, I I imagine that Nadir has read some novels and found them difficult Yeah.

Speaker 0

而且觉得特别晦涩,根本读不进去。

And found them probably sort of really impenetrable and difficult to get into.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

我同意,纳迪尔,你并不是一个人这样觉得。

I would agree, Nadir, I think that you're not alone.

Speaker 0

事实上,有很多经典小说都很难懂,因为它们用的是过时的表达方式。

In fact, there are loads and loads of classic novels which are really hard to understand because they're written in an old fashioned style.

Speaker 1

对。

Right.

Speaker 0

莎士比亚没写过小说,他写的是剧本。

Now, Shakespeare didn't write novels, he wrote plays.

Speaker 0

但如果你读莎士比亚的作品,经常会遇到一些改编成小说的版本。

But if you read Shakespeare, often there are novelizations

Speaker 1

对。

Right.

Speaker 0

这些版本都是基于原始剧本改写的。

Using the original script.

Speaker 0

如果你读这些内容,那确实会特别特别难。

If you read that stuff, then yes, it's gonna be really really hard.

Speaker 1

对。

Right.

Speaker 0

它和我们今天的英语其实差别没那么大,只是特别诗意,有点……

It's it's not too different to the English that we have today, but it's so poetic and so kind of

Speaker 1

它是用抑扬格五音步写的。

It's written in iambic pentameter.

Speaker 1

所以它有节奏感,你知道的,没错。

So it's got beats to it, you know Yeah.

Speaker 1

我们平时根本不会这么说话,我记得网上有人说过,有人用现代音节写了一部抑扬格剧本,这本身就已经是一种艺术了。

That we just we don't actually, I think I read somewhere online that someone has written a play in iambic a modern syllables and it's, you know, an art form in and of itself.

Speaker 1

所以确实是这样。

So Yeah.

Speaker 1

不过我刚才不是故意打断你的。

Anyways, I didn't mean to cut you off.

Speaker 1

不是。

No.

Speaker 0

你说得完全对。

You're you're absolutely right.

Speaker 0

我觉得大多数人很难理解莎士比亚。

I think it's difficult for most people to understand Shakespeare.

Speaker 0

但莎士比亚的特别之处在于,只要你能走进去,认真研究并理解他的作品,你会发现所有人类关心的重大问题都在里面——那些深刻的哲学思考、激烈的辩论、内心的挣扎,全都在他的文字里。

But the thing is about Shakespeare is that if you can get into it and if you can study it and understand it, then everything is there, you know, like all of the sort of great questions, all of the great sort of things that we know as people are in his work, you know, like, you know, great philosophical ideas or quick big debates or, intellectual struggles.

Speaker 0

所有这些都在莎士比亚的作品里。

It's all in Shakespeare.

Speaker 0

这就是为什么他的地位如此崇高,因为他几乎把人类能想到的一切都写尽了。

That's why it's considered to be so great because it just he he kind of he's he's already done everything.

Speaker 0

他早就想透了所有事情。

He's thought of everything.

Speaker 0

比如《哈姆雷特》,讲的其实就是俄狄浦斯情结。

Like, you know, Hamlet, it's all about the Oedipal complex.

Speaker 0

对。

Mhmm.

Speaker 0

还有弗洛伊德,那位精神分析学家,就是因为提出这个观点而闻名。

And Freud, Sigmund Freud, the psychoanalyst, was celebrated for kind of coming up with this idea.

Speaker 0

但实际上,莎士比亚早就已经做到了。

But really, Shakespeare did it already.

Speaker 0

我想在希腊神话里,这些主题也早就出现了。

And I suppose in Greek mythology, they also covered Right.

Speaker 0

很多这类故事都是如此。

A lot of these narratives too.

Speaker 1

没错。

Right.

Speaker 1

比如俄狄浦斯,对。

Like Oedipus Mhmm.

Speaker 1

这一切的源头。

Where it all began.

Speaker 1

是的

Yeah.

Speaker 1

对

Yes.

Speaker 1

我觉得挺有意思的一点是,作为学法语的学生,我总在找法语书读,尤其想读法国作家的作品,还有那些经典法语文学。

I think one thing that I found interesting is, as a student of French, I'm always looking for French books to read, and especially I wanna read French authors, and I wanna read the French classics.

Speaker 1

能读一本法语经典小说,比如《三个火枪手》,简直是我的梦想。

It would be a dream of mine to read a French classic novel, like The Three Musketeers.

Speaker 1

所以我去了书店,找了一本用我这个水平的法语写的《三个火枪手》。

So what I've done is I went to the bookstore and I found a version of The Three Musketeers that's written in the level of French, on my level of French.

Speaker 1

我想英文里应该也有类似的书吧。

So I assume that they have these books in English too.

Speaker 1

那些伟大的英文作品,被改写成适合初学者或中级学习者的版本,好让学英语的人也能轻松欣赏和体会。

Great English works that are written in more beginner or intermediate levels so students of English can have the opportunity to enjoy and appreciate the work.

Speaker 1

是的

Yeah.

Speaker 1

所以

So

Speaker 0

他们确实有这类书。

They definitely do have those.

Speaker 0

这些叫分级读物。

They're called graded readers.

Speaker 0

太好了。

Perfect.

Speaker 0

企鹅出版社出的分级读物系列非常不错。

And, Penguin do a very good range of graded readers.

Speaker 0

比如你想读《德古拉》,但又觉得古旧的语言太难懂,那就可以找《德古拉》的分级读物版本,也就是布拉姆·斯托克的《德古拉》来读。

So, yeah, if you wanna read Dracula, for example, but you can't quite get past the old fashioned language, then, yeah, you can find the graded reader version of Dracula, Bram Stoker's Dracula, and you can read that.

Speaker 0

一方面,这样确实更好,因为你能看懂、跟得上情节;但另一方面,这也算是简化版了。

I mean, on one hand, that's better because it means that you're gonna be able to understand it and follow On the other hand, it's kind of like a watered down version.

Speaker 0

没错。

Right.

Speaker 0

所以它不会像原著那样有那么丰富的语言和诗意的表达。

So it's not gonna have the same depth of language and poet poet poetic content.

Speaker 0

但至少你能把故事读完。

But at least you'll be able to, you know, read the story.

Speaker 0

根据你的英语水平,一个不错的方法是先从分级读物开始,读完之后再尝试看原著。

What what can be good, depending on your level of English, is if you start with a graded reader, read that first and then you can sort of try the original version afterwards.

Speaker 0

等你对故事有了一定了解之后,就会容易多了。

Once you're familiar with the story Mhmm.

Speaker 0

这样你就不会完全摸不着头脑,能靠着之前从分级读物里学到的内容慢慢理清情节。

And that way you won't be completely lost, you'll be able to kind of work it out from your your knowledge, that you've you've picked up from the the graded version.

Speaker 1

这正是我打算做的。

And that's what I'm hoping to do.

Speaker 1

我刚开始读《三个火枪手》,但还是觉得有点难,就先放一边了。

I haven't I started reading The Three Musketeers, and it still was a little bit too difficult for me, so I just set it aside.

Speaker 1

对。

Mhmm.

Speaker 1

我打算再拿起来读。

And I'm gonna pick it up again.

Speaker 1

我现在在看另一本书,但之后还是会回头读它。

I'm reading another book now, but I'm gonna pick it up again.

Speaker 1

然后读一读,把故事弄明白,再用原文读一遍。

And then, yeah, read that, understand the story, read it in the native tongue Yeah.

Speaker 1

这样你就能慢慢体会到它的味道。

So you get a feel for it.

Speaker 1

接下来,我还想继续读下去。

And then, yes, I would like to read.

Speaker 1

我觉得这是个很好的过渡方式。

I think it's a good stepping stone.

Speaker 0

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 0

最后,再看一遍DVD。

And then, at the end, just watch the DVD.

Speaker 1

是的

Yeah.

Speaker 1

我们以前是不是

Did we

Speaker 0

在英国电视上播过一部叫《达达尼昂和三剑客》的动画片。

used to have this show on TV in England called Dogtanion and the and the Three Musker Hounds.

Speaker 0

你看过吗?

Did you ever see that?

Speaker 0

美国那边有播过吗?

Did you have that in America?

Speaker 1

没有。

No.

Speaker 1

不过我们那边好像播过一个叫什么的?

But we had what was it?

Speaker 1

我一时想不起来了。

I'm drawing a blank.

Speaker 1

没有。

No.

Speaker 1

我不清楚。

I don't know.

Speaker 0

没有。

No.

Speaker 0

我得跟你讲讲《狗丹东和三只猎犬侠》。

I've gotta tell you about Dog Tanion and and the three Muskethounds.

Speaker 1

狗丹东。

Dog Tanion.

Speaker 0

不是狗达丹尼昂,是狗塔尼昂。

Dog Not Not Not Dartanion, but Dog Tanyan.

Speaker 0

也不是三剑客,是三只猎犬侠。

And not the three Musketeers, but the three Musketehounds.

Speaker 1

猎犬侠。

Musketehounds.

Speaker 0

所以 basically,就是《三个火枪手》,只不过角色都是狗,而且是个动画片。

So basically, it was the three Musketeers, but they were dogs and it was a cartoon.

Speaker 0

其他我就真记不清了。

And that's really all I remember.

Speaker 0

具体情节我都忘了,但故事背景是法国的哪个历史时期来着?

I don't really remember what happened, but it was all set in, you know, sort of what when when what era of French history is that?

Speaker 0

不管怎样,故事是发生在法国那个该有的历史年代,三个火枪手,但全是狗。

Anyway, it was set during the the appropriate era of of French history and there they are, the three musketeers, but they're dogs.

Speaker 0

我很喜欢这部片子,莎拉。

I enjoyed it, Sarah.

Speaker 0

我真的挺喜欢的。

I enjoyed it.

Speaker 0

这事儿一直留在我脑子里。

It stuck with me.

Speaker 0

所以每当我听到别人聊《三个火枪手》,我脑子里浮现的总是那几条猎犬的样子。

So whenever I whenever I hear people talking about the the three musketeers, I always just imagine them as being sort of like these hounds.

Speaker 1

狗。

Dogs.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

片头字幕里有个场景,不知为啥我印象特别深,就是塔尼翁狗进店买苹果,想在一只漂亮的母狗面前耍帅,你也懂的。

There's a scene in the opening credits, which for some reason is stuck in my memory, where dog Tanion has gone into a shop to buy an apple and he wants to show off in front of some pretty young female dog, as you do.

Speaker 1

没错。

Right.

Speaker 0

他把苹果往空中一抛,拔剑一挥。

And he throws the apple in the air and he slices it with his, with his sword.

Speaker 0

他挥剑快得惊人,切得也准,苹果片居然像羽毛一样缓缓飘落。

And he slices it so quickly and so well that the, the slices of apple actually float down to the ground like feathers.

Speaker 0

是啊。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

不知为啥,这个画面我一直记得。

For some reason, that stuck with me.

Speaker 0

这

It's

Speaker 1

直接翻译自大仲马的原文。

Translated directly from Dumas himself.

Speaker 0

你觉得他写过达达尼昂用这种方式博取女士青睐的场景吗?

Do reckon that he wrote about the moment where D'Artagnan impresses a lady by

Speaker 1

对。

Right.

Speaker 0

切苹果

Slicing an apple

Speaker 1

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 1

用剑。

With a sword.

Speaker 1

第一卷里没有。

In the first volume, no.

Speaker 0

好的,纳迪尔。

Alright, Nadir.

Speaker 0

所以就是这样。

So there you go.

Speaker 0

希望这回答了你的问题。

I hope that answers your question.

Speaker 0

下一个问题是蒂姆·基特·陈提出的:在美国怎么才能学会伦敦口音?

The next question comes from Tim Kit Chan and the, question is, how can we acquire a center London accent in The US?

Speaker 0

我猜蒂姆·基特·陈人在美国,但他想说得像英国人。

So I am assuming that Tim Kit Chan is in The USA, but he wants to speak like a British person.

Speaker 0

明白了。

So okay.

Speaker 0

第一个问题。

First first question.

Speaker 0

你觉得这主意怎么样?

Do you think that's a good idea?

Speaker 0

你觉得,如果蒂姆·基特·陈住在美國,他有必要學英國口音嗎?

Do you think that Tim Kit Chan should, if he's living in America, learn to speak with a British accent?

Speaker 0

口音?

Accent?

Speaker 0

其次,他該怎麼學呢?

Or and secondly, how should he go about doing this?

Speaker 0

你怎麼看?

What do you think?

Speaker 1

我覺得,除非純粹圖個樂子,否則這麼做沒什麼實際意義,如果這能讓他有動力,那也行

Well, I think I don't know what what purpose that would serve other than just having fun, and if if that's something that motivates that's

Speaker 0

有道理

that's

Speaker 1

真的很重要

really really

Speaker 0

關鍵在於

important

Speaker 1

确实很重要。

important

Speaker 0

对我而言。

me.

Speaker 0

对我来说。

Me.

Speaker 1

学口音却学不好,确实如此。

Accent and not really being successful with it Yeah.

Speaker 1

别人可能听不懂你说话。

People might not understand you.

Speaker 1

这样可能会让人有点困惑。

So that that could be a little confusing.

Speaker 0

不过我觉得,从接触的人和上网的经历来看,很多在美国的人觉得讲英国口音挺酷的。

But I guess I I've noticed just from meeting people and, you know, being on the Internet, that a lot of people, even in America, think that it's kind of cool to speak with a British accent.

Speaker 0

但也不是所有人都这么想。

I don't think that everyone does.

Speaker 0

但确实有些人觉得,要是我有英国口音,我肯定停不下来,这个观点我倒是挺认同的。

But there are some people who kind of, you know, say, if I had a British accent, I'd I would never stop talking, which is an idea that I have subscribed to,

Speaker 1

确实如此。

in fact.

Speaker 1

这也就是我们做这个播客的原因。

Which is why we're on this podcast.

Speaker 1

不是的。

No.

Speaker 0

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 0

所以我现在才一直说个不停,看来是这样。

It's why I never stop talking, apparently now.

Speaker 0

这种口音就像一种小众时尚,有些美国人还挺想学的。

But so it's kind of like this boutique accent which some people in America like to would would like to acquire.

Speaker 0

也许蒂姆·基特陈就是这种人。

Maybe Tim Kit Chan is one of these people.

Speaker 1

我觉得确实如此。

I think it's yeah.

Speaker 1

我觉得很多人,尤其是美国人,都很喜欢英国口音。

I think that's definitely people I mean, I think Americans, we are quite fond of the British accent.

Speaker 1

但该怎么学会呢?

But and how to acquire that?

Speaker 1

刚才卢克和我试着模仿北爱尔兰口音,不过你是英国人,你大概应该

As Luke and I were just putting on our Northern Irish accents, I mean, I guess well, you're the British person, so you should probably

Speaker 0

我觉得

I think

Speaker 1

给点建议。

give your advice.

Speaker 0

这其实挺复杂的。

It's it's pretty complicated.

Speaker 0

如果你真想在美国学会英国口音的话。

If you really really want to acquire a British accent in The US.

Speaker 0

我觉得这很难,因为众所周知,最好的办法就是整天跟英国人待在一起,尤其是身边都是说伦敦口音的人。

I guess it's hard because, as we know, maybe the best way to do it is to be around British people, be around people with that London accent all the time.

Speaker 0

如果你住在一个全是伦敦人的房子里——我不知道为什么,我突然想象蒂姆·基特陈住在一个满是考克尼口音的人的屋子里。

If you if you live in a house with a bunch of people from London I'm just imagining for some reason, I'm imagining Tim Kit Chan living in a house full of Cockneys.

Speaker 1

对。

Right.

Speaker 1

就在俄克拉荷马州的中心地带。

In, like, the middle of Oklahoma.

Speaker 0

是啊。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 0

你能想象在俄克拉荷马有一栋满是考克尼口音的人的房子吗?

Can you imagine this Cockney house in Oklahoma?

Speaker 0

我不知道他们为什么会住那儿,不过其实也不一定非得是考克尼口音。

I don't know why they would be there, but anyway, it doesn't have to be Cockneys.

Speaker 0

我的意思是,伦敦可不只是有科克尼口音的人。

I mean, you know, London is not just populated by Cockneys.

Speaker 0

没错。

No.

Speaker 1

但你觉得奇怪吗?比如麦当娜。

But would you think it is strange though for example, Madonna.

Speaker 1

她嫁给了盖·里奇。

She was married to Guy Ritchie.

Speaker 1

她长期定居在伦敦。

She based herself in London.

Speaker 1

现在她说话时,口音里已经带了一点英国腔。

And now when she speaks, she has a little touch of a British accent,

Speaker 0

对,确实如此。

which Yeah.

Speaker 1

我觉得这种口音有点不自然。

I feel like that's a little in unauthentic inauthentic.

Speaker 1

不真实。

Inauthentic.

Speaker 1

不真实。

Inauthentic.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

你怎么看这个问题?

What what's your opinion

Speaker 0

关于这个?

on that?

Speaker 0

我们稍后会回到蒂姆·卡特或蒂姆·基特·陈的问题,但没错,关于虚假习得口音这个问题。

My we'll come back directly to Tim Kat Tim Kit Chan's question in a moment, but, yes, the the question of the inauthentic acquisition of an accent.

Speaker 0

举个例子,麦当娜。

So case in point, Madonna.

Speaker 0

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 0

麦当娜,好吧。

Madonna, alright.

Speaker 0

她显然是美国人,但搬到英国后,好像就几天工夫,说话就带上了英式口音。

So she obviously is American but she moved to The UK and within well, it felt like it's just a couple of days.

Speaker 0

她那时候说话完全是那种英国腔。

She was speaking with this sort of English accent.

Speaker 0

你能模仿一下吗?

Can you do it?

Speaker 1

不行。

No.

Speaker 1

因为我最近没怎么听过麦当娜说话。

Because I feel like I haven't heard Madonna talk recently.

Speaker 0

她以前口音特别重,就是那种纽约腔,你知道的。

She used to be very sort of broad, you know, what, New York?

Speaker 1

她是的。

She's yeah.

Speaker 1

她来自纽约。

She's from New York.

Speaker 1

她姓氏听起来特别意大利风格,对。

Her last name's like a very Italian yeah.

Speaker 1

奇科内。

Cicchione.

Speaker 1

但我突然想到,那会不会是Lady Gaga的姓?

But then I'm like, maybe that's Lady Gaga's last name.

Speaker 0

不是。

No.

Speaker 0

我觉得那是麦当娜的姓。

I think it's I think it's Madonna's last name.

Speaker 0

好吧。

Okay.

Speaker 0

麦当娜以前口音特别重,典型的美式口音,后来搬到英国,突然就变成一种柔和的、带点上流社会味道的英式口音了。

But yeah, Madonna used to be have this very strong American accent and then she moved to Britain and suddenly she was speaking with these silent sort of this sort of soft English, slightly posh English accent.

Speaker 0

说实话,我觉得大多数人觉得那有点做作。

And to be honest, I think most people found it to be a little bit fake.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

在我看来,我觉得她确实有点装的成分。

I think, in my opinion, I reckon she was faking it a bit.

Speaker 1

我也是这么感觉的。

That's how I felt too.

Speaker 1

但我们真的能知道吗?

But will we ever know?

Speaker 0

是啊。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

我们永远都不会真正知道。

We'll never really know.

Speaker 0

也许她就像一块海绵,能迅速吸收周围所有的影响。

Maybe she's maybe she's just like a sponge and she just absorbs all influences around her very quickly.

Speaker 0

但我怀疑她表现得有点过头了。

But I suspect that she was trying a bit too hard.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

她这么拼命的原因其实不是。

And the reason that she was trying hard no.

Speaker 0

不是。

No.

Speaker 0

大家不喜欢的原因是太做作了,她明显是在装英国口音。

The reason that people didn't like it was because it was contrived, like she was faking this British accent.

Speaker 0

所以这点得小心点。

So that's you gotta be careful with that.

Speaker 0

我的意思是,当然了,你想怎么做都行。

I mean, obviously, you can do whatever you want.

Speaker 0

你可以成为你想成为的任何人。

You can be whoever you wanna be.

Speaker 0

但你要明白,如果你突然开始用不一样的口音说话,别人肯定会想:你干嘛这样说话?

But be aware that if you just suddenly start speaking differently, people are gonna think, a, why are you speaking like that?

Speaker 0

不过话说回来,你还是做自己最好。

But then again, you just be who you wanna be.

Speaker 1

我觉得在生活的方方面面,都要忠于真实的自己。

I I say, in all areas of life, be authentic to yourself.

Speaker 1

所以啊,你不是英国人,就没必要非得学英国口音。

So, you know, you don't need a British accent if you're not British.

Speaker 1

如果你真想掌握一个口音,那又有什么不可以呢?

If if you want to achieve one, why not?

Speaker 1

去尝试吧,但与此同时,你也得知道……

Go for it, but at the same time, like

Speaker 0

我觉得你可以大胆去试,但也要有心理准备,可能会引来一些批评。

I would say just go for it, but at the same time, be aware that then you may attract a few critics.

Speaker 1

没错。

Right.

Speaker 0

就这样了。

That's all.

Speaker 0

不过好吧。

But okay.

Speaker 0

不管怎样,如果你住在美国,却想学伦敦口音,该怎么做到呢?

Anyway, if you wanna get a London accent and you live in The U US, how are you gonna do it?

Speaker 0

这挺难的,因为你身边的人说的都不是这个口音。

Well, it's difficult be it's gonna be difficult because you're gonna be surrounded by people with that accent.

Speaker 0

这大概是最有效的方法了。

That's probably the the best way to do it.

Speaker 0

所以你得让自己多接触各种说伦敦口音的人。

So you're gonna have to try to expose yourself to lots of lots of examples of people who speak with a London accent.

Speaker 0

你得下载很多集《卢克英语播客》。

So you're gonna have to download loads of episodes of Luke's English Podcast.

Speaker 1

或者看《东区人》。

Or watch Eastenders.

Speaker 0

《东区人》

Eastenders.

Speaker 0

《东区人》

Eastenders.

Speaker 0

没错。

Yes.

Speaker 1

我14岁的时候演过一部剧,叫《小公主》。

I was in a play when I was 14, A Little Princess.

Speaker 1

这原本也是一本小说。

It's also a novel.

Speaker 1

我们得扮演英国女学生。

And we had to be British school girls.

Speaker 1

所以我们要学口音。

So we had dialect.

Speaker 1

我们请了语音教练,每天和他一起做口音练习,好让表演时的发音更地道。

We had the dialect coach, and we would do dialect exercises with our dialect coach so we would have a more authentic sounding accent when we were performing.

Speaker 1

但这是在演戏的背景下发生的。

But, you know, this was in the context of a play.

Speaker 1

所以我知道确实有很多练习方法可以帮助你掌握口音。

So I know there are definitely exercises out there you can do to help you with that.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 0

你可以找一位语音教练。

You can see a voice coach.

Speaker 0

很多好莱坞演员都有非常专业的语音教练,他们会从多个方面帮你,比如学会某种口音,或者你也可以自学。

A lot of Hollywood actors have very very good voice coaches who will work with you in a number of ways to help you, you know, to pick up the accent or you can self study.

Speaker 0

你可以直接研究标准英式英语的音标系统,学会怎么准确发出每一个音。

You can just look at the phonemic alphabet of standard British English and learn that and then sort of learn how to make all the sounds effectively.

Speaker 0

你可以在网上找BBC英语学习频道,他们有关于发音的专题页面,里面有很多练习和音频样本,帮你慢慢熟悉标准英式英语。

You can go to BBC Learning English on the internet and find their pages about pronunciation and there are lots of exercises, lots of audio samples that you can listen to as a way of just sort of picking up standard British English.

Speaker 0

你也可以去大英图书馆的网站看看。

You can also visit the British Library website.

Speaker 0

你不妨搜一下‘大英图书馆口音’,有个叫‘Sounds Familiar’的页面,内容特别全面,涵盖了英国各地的各种地方口音。

So I I would Google British Library accents and there's a page, I think it's called sounds familiar, and that's a really, really comprehensive guide to all the different regional accents all over The UK.

Speaker 0

你可以专门挑伦敦口音来听,听听样本,再看看对这种口音的分析。

So you can focus on the ones from London, you can listen to some samples, you can look at some analysis of that accent.

Speaker 0

这样你就能对伦敦口音有个真实的整体了解,然后开始模仿,多听多练,尽量多接触地道的伦敦口音。

So you get you get a genuine general understanding of the accent and you can then start copying it, try to, listen as much as possible to examples of London accents.

Speaker 0

就这样。

There you go.

Speaker 0

我觉得关于这个问题,说的差不多了。

I think that's probably enough on that question.

Speaker 0

祝你好运。

So good luck.

Speaker 0

祝你好运,Tim Kat Chan,如果你真是这么打算的话。

Good luck, Tim Kat Chan, if that's what your your intention is.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 0

好的。

Right.

Speaker 0

那我们接着看下一个问题。

So let's move on to the next question.

Speaker 0

你准备好了吗?

Are you are you ready?

Speaker 1

我准备好了。

I'm ready.

Speaker 0

好的。

Right.

Speaker 0

所以,Francesco,我想你是叫Francesco吧。

So Francesco I think it's Francesco.

Speaker 0

不知道为什么,每次我做这个的时候,每次我需要我的iPad

For some reason, whenever I'm doing this, whenever I need my iPad

Speaker 1

来用的时候。

To work.

Speaker 1

它总是

It's to

Speaker 0

说,不行。

work, it just goes, no.

Speaker 0

我可不会给你干活,卢克。

I'm not gonna work for you, Luke.

Speaker 0

有时候评论加载得比较慢。

So sometimes the comments don't load very quickly.

Speaker 0

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 0

弗朗切斯科说,既然英格兰和法国都是很棒的国家,尤其是英格兰,我想请莎拉说说她在哪儿遇到了最热情好客的人。

Francesco says, provided that both England and France are wonderful countries, which they are, especially England, I would like Sarah to say where she met the most welcoming people.

Speaker 0

他还说,就我而言,我觉得英国人确实是最友善的。

And he adds, as far as I'm concerned, I find English people are definitely the kindest ones.

Speaker 0

谢谢你,弗朗切斯卡。

Well, thank you, Francesca.

Speaker 0

我当然同意你的看法。

I I would agree with you, of course.

Speaker 0

英国人真的很、真的很厚道。

The English are deeply, deeply decent people.

Speaker 0

等等,你听出这话里的讽刺意味了吗?

There's a again, did you pick up the irony in that?

Speaker 0

因为这话说得并不完全对。

Because it's not entirely true.

Speaker 0

也不是所有英国人都好。

They're not all nice.

Speaker 0

有些英国人其实并不怎么友善。

Some English people are not very nice.

Speaker 0

我以前在伯明翰上学,那时候有个同学叫卡格。

There was a guy called I used to I used to go to school in Birmingham that there was a kid at school called Cag.

Speaker 0

对。

That

Speaker 1

就是卡格。

was Cag.

Speaker 0

那是他的外号。

That was his was his nickname.

Speaker 0

哦。

Oh.

Speaker 0

糟了。

Cag.

Speaker 0

他基本上挺不友善的。

He wasn't very kind, basically.

Speaker 0

他是个霸凌者,而且他父母

He was a bully and his parent

Speaker 1

不过这外号确实挺带感的,Cag。

That's a great bully nick name though, Cag.

Speaker 1

Cag。

Cag.

Speaker 1

哦,Cag。

Oh, Cag.

Speaker 1

小心点。

Watch out.

Speaker 1

他正从走廊那边过来。

He's coming down the hallway.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

我

I

Speaker 0

我偶尔会去电脑室跟那些书呆子待一会儿。

used to every now and then, I used to hang out with the geeks in the computer room.

Speaker 1

时不时?

Every every now and then?

Speaker 0

对,时不时。

Every now yeah.

Speaker 0

时不时去一趟,因为我啥都沾点边。

Every now and then because I'm an all rounder.

Speaker 0

明白吧?

Okay?

Speaker 0

我有点书呆子气。

I'm a bit geek.

Speaker 0

我也不完全是个书呆子。

I'm a bit not geek.

Speaker 0

你看,我也踢足球。

You know, I'm I play football.

Speaker 0

我也可以是个书呆子。

I can be a geek.
