大家好,各位听众。

Hello, listeners.

Speaker 0

这是系列节目的第二部分,我将与我的朋友莎拉·唐纳利对话,她是一名英语老师、单口喜剧演员,也是美国人。

This is part two in a two part series in which I talk to my friend Sarah Donnelly, who is an English teacher, stand up comedian, and American.

Speaker 0

在本期节目中,我们会针对听众在 Facebook 上发给卢克英语播客的问题,聊很多不同的话题。

In this episode, we talk about lots of different things in response to questions which were sent in by listeners to Luke's English podcast on Facebook.

Speaker 0

所以请认真听,我们会谈到各种各样的内容。

So listen closely, and you'll hear us talking about all kinds of things.

Speaker 0

希望你们喜欢这期节目。

I hope you enjoyed the episode.

Speaker 0

今天就先到这里。

That's it for now.

Speaker 0

弗朗切斯科说,嗨,莎拉,嗨,卢克。

Francesco says, hi, Sarah, and hi, Luke.

Speaker 1

你好。

Hello.

Speaker 0

在意大利,我们以美食、美酒和历史遗产闻名,但英语学习者可没这名气。

Here in Italy, we're famous for our food, wine, and our historical heritage, but not certainly as English learners.

Speaker 0

我的意思是,没人觉得意大利人英语学得好。

I mean, they're not famous for learning English.

Speaker 0

我不太确定。

I don't know.

Speaker 0

老师也一样。

Or teachers.

Speaker 0

好吧。

Alright.

Speaker 1

英语老师还是老师?

English teachers or teachers?

Speaker 0

不是。

No.

Speaker 0

他说她在说他,她,一会儿。

He's saying she's saying he, she, one minute.

Speaker 1

弗朗切斯科?

Francesco?

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

那是男生。

That's a man.

Speaker 0

他说在意大利,人们并不以英语学得好而闻名。

He's saying that in Italy, they're not famous for being good English learners.

Speaker 0

行吗?

Alright?

Speaker 0

在你看来,你觉得哪里的教学方法或技巧比较好?为什么?

In your opinion, where do you think they have a good teaching method or technique and why?

Speaker 0

哪里的老师最棒?

Where are the best teachers?

Speaker 1

英语老师?

Of English?

Speaker 0

对。

Yes.

Speaker 1

我我不确定

I I don't

Speaker 0

我觉得就在这间屋子里。

In this room, I think.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

就在这儿。

Right here.

Speaker 1

答得不错。

Good good answer.

Speaker 1

不是那样。

That no.

Speaker 1

卢克之所以是最好的英语老师,就是因为他是想出这个答案的人。

That's why Luke's the best English teacher because he came up with that answer.

Speaker 1

我真的不知道这个问题的答案。

I don't I don't think I know the answer to this question.

Speaker 0

我觉得可能是……天啊。

I I would say probably oh god.

Speaker 0

这个问题太难了。

That that's a very difficult question.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

谁是最好的老师?

Who who are the best teachers?

Speaker 0

我的

My

Speaker 1

我倒想问问,你为什么想知道这个?

question to you would be why do you do you want to know that?

Speaker 1

你是想去那些老师最厉害的地方吗,还是

Do you wanna go to the place where they have the best teachers or

Speaker 0

我只是好奇想看看我们的答案是什么。

I'm just curious to see what our answer.

Speaker 0

他就是想知道我们对这个问题怎么看。

He just wants to know what we think about that question.

Speaker 0

我觉得可能要看情况。

I think probably depends.

Speaker 0

教学方法本来就不止一种,对吧?

There are different methods, aren't there, for teaching.

Speaker 0

依我看,我确实偏向某种教学方式,那是我当年考剑桥教学证书时学过的。

In my opinion, I think that well, see, I'm biased towards a certain approach to teaching, which has been sort of which I studied when I did like Cambridge teaching certificates.

Speaker 0

所以我觉得,可能在英国比较好。

So I think probably in England.

Speaker 0

我不能说其他国家教得不好,我相信他们的方法也很出色。

I I can't say that other countries teach badly because I'm sure that they're brilliant as well.

Speaker 0

但我知道,英国在语言教学方面已经发展出了一套成熟的体系。

But I know that in England, we've developed approaches to teaching a language.

Speaker 0

你知道,英语教学现在是个大产业,而且已经持续了很多年。

You know, it's quite advanced because English teaching is now a big industry and it's

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

这么多年下来,全国有大量学者在研究第二语言习得,研究各种教学方法。

It's been going on for many years.

Speaker 0

而且这些研究一直在不断深入。

And so there are academics, many many academics all over the country studying the, you know, acquisition of second languages, studying the methods for for teaching.

Speaker 0

所以,从学术角度来看,这方面的研究已经相当成熟了。

And so, you know, it's academically, it's quite a in in quite an advanced stage.

Speaker 0

我觉得英国在第二语言教学方面有着非常丰富的专业经验。

So I'd say that I think there's a lot of expertise in The UK when it comes to teaching a second language.

Speaker 0

不过我也相信,法国和美国同样有他们的专家。

But then again, you know, I'm sure the French have got their their their experts too, and and America too.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

美国在英语作为第二语言的教学上投入了很多精力。

America has a lot of focus on teaching English as a second language.

Speaker 1

我一个好朋友就是在美國拿到的这个领域的硕士学位。

One of my good friends got her masters in this in The United States.

Speaker 1

所以。

So

Speaker 0

对不起,我插一句。

I would sorry.

Speaker 0

插一句。

Just to interrupt.

Speaker 0

好的。

Sure.

Speaker 0

其实我觉得,美国人可能在二语习得研究方面比我们还领先,因为一些开创性的学者都是美国人。

I would say, actually, think the Americans are probably maybe even ahead of us in in The UK because some of the groundbreaking academics in the study of of learning a second language have been American.

Speaker 0

比如诺姆·乔姆斯基。

Like someone like Noam Chomsky Oh.

Speaker 0

他被认为是该领域顶尖的学者之一。

Was considered, you know, he was one of the the the leading academics on the whole subject.

Speaker 0

所以如果你去研究英语教学的历史,或者第二语言习得的研究历史,尤其是在西方世界,可能主要是英语国家,

And so if you look at the history of teaching English or the history of the understanding of second language acquisition, certainly in in in the Western world, maybe just in English.

Speaker 0

美国人确实是率先

It's the Americans first who kind

Speaker 1

对,确实如此。

of Yeah.

Speaker 0

他在学术研究方面开创了很多新领域。

You know, broke a lot of ground in terms of academic research.

Speaker 0

这个问题要平衡地回答确实不容易。

It's difficult question to answer in a balanced way.

Speaker 1

这其实取决于你作为学生需要什么、期待老师怎样,还有你平时的习惯。

You know, it really depends on what works for you as a student and what you expect from your teachers and what you're used to as well.

Speaker 1

我觉得美国学生在课堂上习惯的那种风格,是我们在美国上学时从老师身上学来的。

Because I think Americans in the classroom have a certain style that we've learned through going through school in The US through our teachers.

Speaker 1

对有些人来说,这种风格可能有点让人不适应。

So to some people, that could be unnerving, maybe.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

可能太随意了。

Too maybe casual.

Speaker 0

没错。

Yes.

Speaker 0

太随意了。

Too informal.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

太随意了。

Too informal.

Speaker 1

所以,你看,就是这样。

So, you know, there you go.

Speaker 0

作为英语老师,你得克服的一个障碍就是,你有自己的学术背景,也清楚什么样的英语课才算好课。

That's kind of one of the the barriers that you have to get over as a an English language teacher is that you have your all of your academic background and all of your understanding of what makes a good English lesson.

Speaker 0

但当你走进教室,面对来自不同国家的学生时,每个人都有自己对老师该怎么做的一套理解和期待。

And then when you get a room full of students who come from different countries, they all have their own version or understanding of what you should be doing.

Speaker 0

没错。

Right.

Speaker 0

当你没按他们以为的那样做时,他们有时就会有点慌,心里想:这是怎么回事?

And when you're not doing this thing that they think you should be doing, they kind of sometimes they can freak out a little bit and they can be like, oh, what's this?

Speaker 0

这人根本不知道自己在干嘛。

This this this guy doesn't know what he's doing.

Speaker 0

比如说,有些人的想法是,老师的地位并不比学生高。

So for example, if the approach is like, well, that let's say the understanding is, well, the teacher is is not high higher in status than the the students.

Speaker 0

老师和学生,大家地位都一样。

The the the students, the teacher, everyone is on the same level of status.

Speaker 0

所以老师没必要穿西装。

Therefore, the teacher doesn't have to wear a suit.

Speaker 0

穿牛仔裤和T恤就行,跟房间里其他人一样,这没问题,因为大家地位平等。

He can wear a pair of jeans and a t shirt just like everyone else in the room, and that's fine because everyone's on the same level of status.

Speaker 0

但有些来自特定文化背景的学生,看到老师穿着T恤出现,马上就会觉得:这种人怎么可能教得了我东西。

Now some students from some cultures might see the teacher turn up in a in a t shirt and kind of immediately think there's no way I can learn anything from this person.

Speaker 1

对。

Right.

Speaker 0

你看,他就穿了件T恤。

Look, he's just wearing a t shirt

Speaker 1

对。

Right.

Speaker 0

还有牛仔裤。

And jeans.

Speaker 0

有时候,学生期待的和老师认为有效的方法之间会产生冲突。

So sometimes you get this sense of conflict between what the students expect, what the teacher understands to be a good method.

Speaker 0

归根结底,这其实是课堂上当时所有人和老师之间的一种协商。

Ultimately, it's a negotiation between the people in the class in that at that moment and the teacher.

Speaker 0

你得试着从学生的角度去想,找到阻力最小的路径——一方面尽可能用你认为最好的方式教学,另一方面也要满足他们的期待,避免出现文化上的不适。

You've got to try and again, think of it from the students point of view and just find the the path of least resistance and what's the most direct way of, on one hand, trying to teach in the best way that you think is possible, and on the other hand, meeting their expectations in order to avoid some kind of, you know, culture shock in in the

Speaker 1

课堂上的文化冲击可能是双向的。

can be a little culture shock in the classroom both in both directions.

Speaker 1

我觉得这很合理。

So I think, you know, and it makes sense.

Speaker 1

你面对的是来自不同国家的人,大家本来就习惯不同的教学方式。

You're with people from different countries and, you know, we're all used to different methodologies.

Speaker 1

所以作为老师和学生,你都得保持开放的心态。

So you both as a teacher and a student, you just have to keep an open mind.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

而且你还得有耐心。

And you gotta be patient as well.

Speaker 0

我们看看。

Let's see.

Speaker 0

格洛丽亚。

Gloria.

Speaker 0

嗨,卢克和莎拉。

Hi, Luke and Sarah.

Speaker 1

嗨。

Hi.

Speaker 1

有

Have

Speaker 0

你有没有过特别糟糕的教学经历?

you had nightmare teaching experiences?

Speaker 0

我确实有,而且已经在播客里详细讲过了,不过我想问问你,Sarah,你有没有?

I have and I've already gone through them in great detail on the podcast, but wonder if you have, Sarah.

Speaker 1

我从来没遇到过什么糟糕的教学经历,我觉得自己在教学路上挺幸运的。

I haven't had any nightmare teaching experiences and I think I'm very lucky at this point in my teaching career.

Speaker 0

对啊。

Mhmm.

Speaker 1

所以我说,没有。

So I say, no.

Speaker 1

Luke倒是提过一些。

Luke's talked about them.

Speaker 1

咱们就别纠结这个了,反正这儿啥事儿都没有。

Let's let's just sail on and say, no problems here.

Speaker 1

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 1

一切都很好。

Everything's great.

Speaker 0

格洛丽亚还问了,你能以喜剧演员的身份分享一两个吗?

Gloria says also, can you share one or some of them, but as a comedian?

Speaker 0

我说,还是回头听听播客之前的几期吧。

Well, I would say go back to the previous episodes of of of the podcast.

Speaker 0

说实话,我谈那些艰难教学经历的那些期,根本不是喜剧类的节目。

To be honest, the the episodes where I talked about my difficult teaching experiences weren't really comedy episodes.

Speaker 0

它们本来就是。

They were were supposed to be Yeah.

Speaker 0

就是一些个人经历,目的是反思教学方法,以及当一名语言教师的整体处境。

Just, I don't know, just like personal experiences and with a with a view to reflecting on on on ways of teaching and the whole situation of being a language teacher.

Speaker 0

不过这倒是个不错的主意,对吧?

But it could be good, couldn't it?

Speaker 0

你不觉得吗?

Don't you think?

Speaker 0

我是不是该拿教学经历编个脱口秀段子?

Should I build a comedy routine out of a teaching experience?

Speaker 1

我的意思是,当然可以。

Of I mean, sure.

Speaker 1

你完全可以。

You can.

Speaker 1

这完全做得到。

It's possible.

Speaker 0

我确实有个关于教机场工作人员的段子。

Well, I've I've got one about teaching airport staff.

Speaker 1

对。

Yes.

Speaker 1

特别有意思。

Which is very funny.

Speaker 1

不过我觉得你应该在脱口秀的场合讲这个,顺便引导听众去关注你的其他内容。

But I would say you should share that, you know, in your comedy context and invite your listeners to find you in that way.

Speaker 0

是的

Yeah.

Speaker 0

我会的

I would.

Speaker 0

很难把握怎么把英语播客和我的喜剧内容结合起来

It's difficult to know how to mix the two things up, mixed English podcast and my comedy stuff.

Speaker 0

有时候这两者确实合不到一块儿

Sometimes they don't mix up.

Speaker 1

这相当于换了一顶帽子

It's a different hat.

Speaker 0

确实换了一顶帽子

It is a different hat.

Speaker 0

没错

Exactly.

Speaker 0

没错

Exactly.

Speaker 1

我

I

Speaker 0

我戴上喜剧的面具,就跟大家说:嘿,各位。

put on my comedy hat and I'm like, hey, everybody.

Speaker 0

我其实不是这么说话的,但你知道的。

I I don't speak like that, but, you know.

Speaker 1

他是这样的。

Does.

Speaker 1

他确实如此。

He does.

Speaker 1

这不对。

It's not true.

Speaker 0

嘿,各位。

Hey, everybody.

Speaker 1

他其实是穿上了一套巨大的恐龙玩偶服。

He's actually he actually just puts on a big dinosaur costume.

Speaker 1

没错。

That's right.

Speaker 0

我的胳膊怎么这么细?

Why are my arms so small?

Speaker 0

然后呢,我穿上我的西装,就说:大家好。

And then and then, you know, I wear my my suit, and then it's like, hello.

Speaker 0

欢迎来到英语课。

Welcome to the English lesson.

Speaker 0

咱们认真点吧。

Let's get serious.

Speaker 0

该学点英语了。

It's time to learn some English.

Speaker 1

这可太严肃了。

That's very serious.

Speaker 1

这很好。

That's very good.

Speaker 1

很有权威感。

Very authoritative.

Speaker 0

没错。

Right.

Speaker 0

所以就是这样。

So there you go.

Speaker 0

也就还行吧。

And just alright.

Speaker 0

阿蒂斯说,嗨,萨拉和卢克。

Artis says, hi, Sarah and Luke.

Speaker 0

嗨。

Hi.

Speaker 1

嗨。

Hi.

Speaker 0

我在伦敦攻读学位,打算毕业后当一名西班牙语老师。

I'm studying I'm studying a graduation in London, so studying a degree I expect in London to become a Spanish teacher.

Speaker 0

好的。

Alright.

Speaker 0

所以我在伦敦修一门课程,为将来当西班牙语老师做准备。

So studying a qualification, doing a course in London to become a Spanish teacher.

Speaker 0

我以前没教过书,但非常期待未来开始这份新工作。

I don't have any previous experience in teaching, but I'm really looking forward to starting this new job in the future.

Speaker 0

关于这个,你有什么建议给我吗?

What advice would you give me about that?

Speaker 0

你刚开始教书的时候,觉得难吗?

Was it hard for you for your first days of teaching?

Speaker 0

非常感谢。

Thank you very much.

Speaker 0

再见!

Bye!

Speaker 0

别走啊,我们还没说完呢。

Don't go yet, we haven't finished.

Speaker 0

再见!

Bye!

Speaker 0

对新老师有什么建议吗?

Any advice for a new teacher?

Speaker 1

我觉得你的动力很不错。

Well, I think your motivation is good.

Speaker 1

这一点很重要。

That's key.

Speaker 1

你很有热情。

You're excited.

Speaker 1

就像我说的,我还在学习中,所以我来问问卢克。

Like I said, I'm still learning, so I'm gonna go to Luke.

Speaker 1

卢克,你有什么建议?

Luke, what's your advice?

Speaker 0

对第一次当老师的人,我的建议是,刚开始别害怕尝试新方法。

My advice for, first time teachers, I would say at the beginning, don't be scared to try new things.

Speaker 0

明白吗?

Alright?

Speaker 0

刚开始的时候,要真正教好课其实挺难的。

So at the beginning, you know, it's it's hard to become really good at teaching.

Speaker 0

确实如此。

It is.

Speaker 0

关键是要有勇气。

And the way you do it is to but be brave.

Speaker 0

鼓起一点胆量,大胆尝试一些新的方法。

Take a you know, have a bit of courage and try and do some new some new things.

Speaker 0

坚持你认为对的做法,同时也要享受这个过程,试着用不同的方式来教语言。

Follow what, you think is the right thing to do, but also enjoy it and enjoy experimenting with different ways of teaching the language.

Speaker 0

好吗?

Okay?

Speaker 0

别害怕在教学中加入一点你的个性。

Don't be afraid to bring your personality into it a bit.

Speaker 0

别太强势,你没必要主导整个课堂,但也要把自己的热情带进来,这样能让课程更有味道,也给课堂增添一点活力。

Not too much, you shouldn't be the dominating force in the room, but, you know, bring your enthusiasm into the classroom as well because that will give the give a bit of spice to the lesson and maybe give a bit of energy to proceedings.

Speaker 1

我总觉得,我不必做到完美。

I kind of feel like I don't have to be perfect.

Speaker 1

我不需要知道所有问题的答案。

I don't have to know all of the answers.

Speaker 1

而且要让自己明白,确实如此。

And just to reassure yourself that Mhmm.

Speaker 1

我觉得学生并不要求你样样都懂。

I I don't think students expect that.

Speaker 1

也许有少数人这么想,但……

Maybe some do, but

Speaker 0

确实有那么一点。

Some do, a little bit.

Speaker 1

但我觉得,学生也会尊重你这样说:‘我得回去查一下,下节课再告诉你。’

But I think at the same time your students can respect the fact that you say, you know, I'm going to double check for you and I'm going to get back to you at the next class.

Speaker 1

只要你信守承诺,你的信誉自然就回来了。

And then when you follow through with that, then you've won your credibility back.

Speaker 1

也不是说你失去了信誉,只是我总会担心,天啊,我又不是什么都知道,你知道的,也许有些人觉得老师就该什么都知道,但那其实不太合理。

Not that you lost it, but because I get nervous about, oh, I don't know everything about everything and, you know, okay, maybe some people expect that that's not reasonable.

Speaker 1

我们都是普通人。

We're people.

Speaker 1

我们也在不断学习。

We're learning.

Speaker 1

所以。

So

Speaker 0

是的。

yeah.

Speaker 0

还有件事要记住,阿蒂,如果你教西班牙语,你最大的优势就是你是母语者,这一点一定要善加利用。

Another thing to remember, Artie, is I guess if you're teaching Spanish, the main advantage you've got is that you're a native speaker of Spanish, and you should always fall back on that.

Speaker 0

如果有人问你一个语言问题,你心里一惊,天哪,这语法点我也不太拿手。

And if someone asks you a question about the language and you think, my god, that's a bit of an area of grammar that's difficult for me.

Speaker 0

你完全可以依靠直觉来判断对错。

You can always fall back on the the fact that you just know what's right and wrong through instinct.

Speaker 0

你只要说:‘在我国家,人们平时都是怎么说的?’

And you can just say, well, what do people actually say in my country?

Speaker 0

然后你就说:‘其实大家不这么说,而是这么说的。’

And then you just say, well, people don't say that, they say this.

Speaker 0

你的学生可能会问:‘那为什么呢?’

And your student might say, well, why?

Speaker 0

有时候最好的回答就是:‘就这么回事,没为什么。’

And sometimes the best answer you can give is just, well, just because they don't.

Speaker 0

你知道,这可能跟搭配有关。

You know, again, it could be collocation.

Speaker 0

就是这些词天生就爱凑在一起。

It just these words go together.

Speaker 0

这种现象很常见,没错。

This is very common Yeah.

Speaker 0

这是一种非常常见、经常出现的语言表达。

Very frequent frequently occurring piece of language.

Speaker 0

本来就是这么用的。

That's just the way it works

Speaker 1

因为在西班牙语里。

because in Spanish.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

有时候你没法解释语言里每个细微差别,为什么人们非这么说不可,就是因为大家都这么讲。

You sometimes you can't you can't explain every nuance of language why people say things like this because they do.

Speaker 1

而且它可能从语法上讲并不完全正确。

And it might not even be technically grammatically correct.

Speaker 1

我学法语的时候,刚开始也遇到过一些人特别想搞懂理论,这也没问题。

I I found for myself when I was learning French, in my beginner levels, there were people who really wanted to know the theory, which is fine.

Speaker 1

但我自己其实没那么在意。

But for me, I was like, I was less interested.

Speaker 1

我不需要搞懂为什么非得这么说,这么细微的差别。

I don't need to know why at the very nuanced level we have to say things like this.

Speaker 1

我只想知道,平时说话就该这么讲。

I just want to know that that's what I say.

Speaker 1

只要我能明白这一点,我就心满意足了。

And if I can understand that, I'm happy.

Speaker 1

我觉得对很多学生来说,这样也足够了。

And I think that's satisfactory for a lot of students as well.

Speaker 0

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

完全没错。

Absolutely.

Speaker 0

没错。

Right.

Speaker 0

迈克尔·亚历山大·里斯说,你们能多采访一些英国人吗?

Michael Alexander Rees says, could you interview more British people?

Speaker 1

他还说了什么?

What else does he say?

Speaker 1

我看到这条评论的时候,心里就想,哦?

I read I read this comment, and I was like, hey.

Speaker 0

他说,老师卢克,你们能多采访一些英国人吗?

He said, could you interview more British people, teacherluke, please?

Speaker 0

你知道,大概是因为听这个节目的人,某种程度上就是想多听听英式英语。

Well, you know, I guess that's because people who listen to this to an extent they they they want to get their fix of British English.

Speaker 0

真的吗?

Wow.

Speaker 0

但我觉得,正如我所说——

But I think as I

Speaker 1

抱歉,我说错了。

said Sorry.

Speaker 0

我回应了这个说法,觉得吧,我理解他的意思。

I I responded to that by saying, well, I think, you know, I understand.

Speaker 0

我明白他为什么这么写,但我觉得还是多点变化比较好。

I understand why he's written that, but I also think that it's good to get some variety.

Speaker 0

如果总是只讲英式英语,视角就有点太局限了。

And if it's just British English all the time, that's gonna be a slightly narrow view.

Speaker 0

当然,这个播客主要是讲英式英语的,但我觉得这并不意味着不能请美国嘉宾来。

Obviously, it's a it's a British English podcast mainly, but I think that doesn't mean that that I can't have American guests on the show.

Speaker 1

毕竟这是你的节目。

Well, it's your show.

Speaker 1

你想怎么做都行。

So you can do whatever you want.

Speaker 0

我想怎么做就怎么做。

I can do whatever I want.

Speaker 0

我很乐意在节目里呈现各种英语口音,包括美式英语。

I think it's I I I'm very happy to have different variations of English on the show, and that includes American English.

Speaker 0

我要是能多认识些澳大利亚人就好了,这样就能请我的澳大利亚朋友来节目,还有南非的、新西兰的,等等。

If I you know, I wish I knew more Australian people because I'd have, you know, my Australian friends on the show, South Africans, New Zealand, you know.

Speaker 0

我还真希望能多认识些苏格兰朋友。

I wish I had more Scottish friends.

Speaker 0

我一定会多邀请他们来参加节目。

I'd invite more of them to the show.

Speaker 0

说实话,我就希望节目里能涵盖各种英语口音。

And I'd love to have you know, I just want to have every variation of English in the show, to be honest.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

现在这节目是英式英语为主,因为我是卢克,来自英国。

Now it's a British English show because I'm Luke and I'm from The UK.

Speaker 0

英国的。

British.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

所以,当然,这是《卢克英语播客》的默认风格,但我认为能邀请不同英语口音的人来参加特别棒。

So, of course, that's the default setting for Luke's English podcast, but I think it's great to have people who speak the different versions of English in

Speaker 1

这才是生活的精彩之处。

the the spice of life.

Speaker 0

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 0

多样性强。

Variety.

Speaker 0

多样性强。

Variety.

Speaker 1

也许他并不是想表达负面的意思。

Well, maybe he didn't mean it in a in a negative way.

Speaker 0

我觉得不是。

I I don't think so.

Speaker 0

在卢克英语播客的世界里,我觉得没人会故意说负面的话。

I don't think anyone means anything in a negative way in Luke's in the world of Luke's English podcast.

Speaker 0

如果真有这种情况,那我可能会直接把奶油派扔他脸上。

And if they do, then, you know, then I might throw a custard pie in the face.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

这确实很英式。

Very English thing to do.

Speaker 0

没错。

Yes.

Speaker 0

确实如此。

Indeed.

Speaker 0

对。

Right.

Speaker 0

Nail Nail Nalle问,你能问问她,怎么才能更高效地完全听懂英语新闻吗?

Nail Nail Nalle says, could you please ask her how to entirely understand English news more efficiently?

Speaker 0

我听BBC新闻播客已经好几个月了,但还是有时听不太懂。

I've listened to the BBC News podcasts for several months, but I still sometimes find it difficult to understand.

Speaker 0

好吧。

Alright.

Speaker 0

所以,用不超过十句话,你该怎么更高效地完全理解英语新闻?

So in no more than 10 sentences, how can you entirely understand English news more efficiently?

Speaker 0

我觉得这问题挺中肯的,你说呢?

I think it's a fair question, I suppose, because, you know, but but what do you think?

Speaker 0

如果你愿意,也可以把问题抛回给我。

You could throw it back to me if you

Speaker 1

我觉得这现在简直是个挑战。

I would say well, this is like a challenge now.

Speaker 1

多重复。

Repetition.

Speaker 0

对。

Uh-huh.

Speaker 1

我每天都会看法语新闻,读法国报纸,也会看《纽约时报》。

I personally read both the French news and I read a French paper and the New York Times every day.

Speaker 1

所以我觉得重复是关键。

So I'd say repetition is key.

Speaker 0

对。

Mhmm.

Speaker 0

对。

Mhmm.

Speaker 1

你已经在这么做了,这很好。

And you're already doing that, which is good.

Speaker 1

我觉得你可能已经取得了进步,只是自己没意识到。

I think you probably have made gains that you maybe don't realize.

Speaker 1

如果你已经坚持了几个月,那肯定已经产生了效果。

If you're doing if you've been doing this for several months, that certainly has to be having an impact.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

我确信是这样。

I'm sure it is.

Speaker 0

我觉得你继续坚持下去就好。

I I would say keep going.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

就坚持做下去吧,因为成果往往不是马上能看到的,得等一段时间。

Just keep doing it because, you know, results you don't often see the results until later on.

Speaker 0

这可能需要很长的时间。

It can take a long time.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

还有第二点,很多人把BBC新闻当作学习英语的标准材料。

And the second thing is a lot of people use the news, particularly BBC News, as their sort of standard for learning English.

Speaker 0

但你要明白,这并不一定是最地道的英语表达。

But, you know, you have to understand that that's not necessarily the most natural example of English.

Speaker 0

事实上,BBC新闻里用的词特别丰富多样。

And in fact, the BBC News, they use lots and lots of colorful language.

Speaker 0

他们是记者。

They're journalists.

Speaker 1

没错。

Right.

Speaker 0

你知道的。

You know?

Speaker 0

你听的那些内容,其实都是事先写好的。

They, often, the things that you're listening to are have been written as well.

Speaker 0

不是即兴发挥的,不是。

It's not, improvised No.

Speaker 0

口头说的。

Orally.

Speaker 0

都是先写下来,然后再复述的。

It's written down first and then repeated.

Speaker 0

他们毕竟是记者。

And they're journalists.

Speaker 0

他们用的是新闻体表达,有时候挺难懂的。

They are they're writing in a sort of journalistic register, which is difficult to understand sometimes.

Speaker 0

也可能是话题本身比较难。

Also, it could be that the subject matter is hard.

Speaker 0

也许是复杂的政事、经济问题,或者错综复杂的社政争议,这些内容本来就不容易理解。

Maybe these are complicated political stories or economic issues or complex sort of sociopolitical disputes, and of course that that's difficult to understand for anyone.

Speaker 0

我有时候听BBC新闻,听不懂很多内容,不是因为语言难,而是因为事情本身太复杂。

Sometimes I listen to the BBC News, and I don't understand a lot of it just not because of the language itself, but just because the story is complex.

Speaker 0

对。

Mhmm.

Speaker 0

所以跟起来确实有难度。

And so that's difficult to follow.

Speaker 0

如果你听BBC新闻播客时没完全听懂,也不用太自责。

So I wouldn't feel too bad if you can't understand absolutely everything in a BBC News podcast.

Speaker 1

也许BBC新闻播客并不适合你。

Maybe the BBC News podcast is not the podcast for you.

Speaker 0

我觉得它还是适合的,关键是要有耐心,坚持听下去,就算听不懂也没必要灰心。

Well, I I I think it probably is, but persistence and patience, and also don't be downheartened if you can't understand everything.

Speaker 0

继续听下去。

Keep going.

Speaker 0

不过如果你愿意,也可以找点别的内容试试。

But if you if you like, try and find something else that

Speaker 1

这正是我想说的。

That's what that's only what I'm saying.

Speaker 1

也许你可以试试别的节目。

Maybe you want to try something else.

Speaker 1

换一种不同的内容可能会更好。

That you maybe something different might be good.

Speaker 1

或者你干脆说,算了。

Or maybe you say, no.

展开剩余字幕(还有 427 条)
Speaker 1

我喜欢这个。

I like this one.

Speaker 1

我想继续听下去。

Keep I wanna keep on it.

Speaker 0

我不太明白,Nail Nalle为什么会选BBC新闻播客?

I wonder why Nail Nalle has chosen the BBC News podcast.

Speaker 0

是因为你对新闻特别感兴趣吗?

Is it because you have a specific interest in news?

Speaker 0

我的意思是,你平时会经常听母语的新闻吗?

I mean, do you listen to the news in your language a lot?

Speaker 0

你是不是那种特别爱听新闻的人?

Are you like a real news sort of addict?

Speaker 0

如果你平时就爱听母语的新闻,那我完全能理解你为什么选BBC新闻播客了。

Because if you like news in your first language, then sure, I understand why you've chosen the BBC News podcast.

Speaker 0

但如果你对时事没太大兴趣,或者根本不喜欢听新闻,那可能真该换个播客。

But if you're not really that interested in current events or if you don't really enjoy listening to news itself, then maybe you need to find another podcast.

Speaker 0

BBC的播客做得真不错,制作精良,水准一直很稳定。

BBC podcasts are really good because they're very well produced and they're very well made and there's a standard of quality.

Speaker 0

所以我建议你去谷歌搜一下BBC播客。

So I would suggest that you go on to Google BBC podcasts.

Speaker 0

你可能已经知道了,不过还是说一下,搜BBC播客,就能看到他们全部的播客目录。

You might know this already, but anyway, BBC podcasts, and you'll find a whole directory of all of their podcasts.

Speaker 0

他们有好多不同主题的播客,数量多得不得了。

And they have, you know, podcasts on loads of different subjects, loads of them.

Speaker 0

不只是新闻。

Not just news.

Speaker 0

还有娱乐、体育,各种类型都有。

You can have entertainment, sports, all kinds of things.

Speaker 0

你去看看吧,说不定能找到更符合你个人兴趣的。

So have a look, and you might find one that is more appropriate to your personal preferences, you know.

Speaker 0

也许你会遇到一个你特别喜欢的主题,就算听不懂全部内容,你也不在意,因为光是听就觉得有意思。

You might find one on a subject that you really like and you might just you might find that even if you don't understand everything, you don't mind because you just enjoy listening to it.

Speaker 1

明白了。

Right.

Speaker 0

这特别重要。

That's really important.

Speaker 0

你得只是

You gotta just

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

你得喜欢自己在做的事情。

You have to enjoy what you're doing.

Speaker 1

那会难很多。

It's gonna be a lot harder.

Speaker 1

当然了,学英语、学外语,有些部分确实不太有趣。

I mean, of course, there's parts of learning English, learning a foreign language, are, you know, not the most fun.

Speaker 1

但如果你是想补充学习,那确实该选你感兴趣的内容。

But if you're trying to supplement your studies, yeah, it should be something that interests you.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

我还想对各位听众说,确实如此。

Also, would say to this listener that yeah.

Speaker 0

总之,别放弃。

So in in summary, don't give up.

Speaker 0

继续听这些播客,但也要明白,你正在听的这些内容特别有挑战性。

Keep listening to those podcasts, but also understand that they're they're particularly difficult ones that you're trying to to understand.

Speaker 0

第三,听不懂也没关系。

And thirdly, don't feel bad if you don't understand everything.

Speaker 0

这很正常。

That's kind of normal.

Speaker 0

明白吗?

Okay?

Speaker 0

对。

Right.

Speaker 0

好了。

Done.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

我们继续吧。

Let's move on.

Speaker 0

彭恒说,卢克,我想知道,两个好久没见的朋友终于重逢时,他们通常会聊些什么?

Peng Heng says, well, Luke, I want to know when two friends didn't see each other for a long time and they have and they meet finally, what do they always talk about?

Speaker 0

天气、电影,还是别的事情?

Weather, movies, or other things?

Speaker 0

我不太确定西方文化里人们常聊哪些话题。

I'm not sure about the talking points in Western culture.

Speaker 0

对。

Right.

Speaker 0

现在,莎拉,我们不解释了,直接演示一下。

Now rather than explaining this, Sarah, let's demonstrate.

Speaker 0

我们开始吧?

Shall we?

Speaker 1

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 0

假设我已经有四周没见到你了。

Let's imagine that I haven't seen you for like four weeks.

Speaker 1

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 0

嗯。

Okay.

Speaker 0

四周了。

Four weeks.

Speaker 0

我们就想象一下这种情况吧。

So let's let's just imagine that.

Speaker 0

我现在走开,然后回来,坐下,咱们聊聊最近怎么样。

So I'm gonna I'm gonna walk away I'm gonna come back and we're and I'm gonna sit down and we're just gonna catch up.

Speaker 0

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 0

然后彭恒,你仔细听,看看我们是怎么做的。

And then Peng Heng, listen carefully and you can just see how we do it.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 0

你能大概说说现在发生了什么吗?

Can you just sort of explain what's happening?

Speaker 1

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 1

卢克现在已经走到他的楼梯那儿了。

So Luke has now walked over to his stairs.

Speaker 0

我要出去一下。

I'm gonna go out.

Speaker 1

我本来打算出去的。

I was gonna go outside.

Speaker 1

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 1

他正要离开公寓。

He's he's leaving the apartment.

Speaker 1

哎呀,不好了。

Oh, no.

Speaker 1

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 1

你在我家干什么?

What are you doing in my apartment?

Speaker 0

是Luke。

It's it's it's Luke.

Speaker 1

哦,嗨,Luke。

Oh, hi, Luke.

Speaker 1

不是。

No.

Speaker 1

对不起。

Sorry.

Speaker 1

我刚才是开玩笑的。

That was just a joke.

Speaker 1

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 1

那真是个玩笑。

That was a joke.

Speaker 1

那是个测试。

It was a test.

Speaker 1

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 1

你好,Luke。

Hi, Luke.

Speaker 1

见到你真好。

So good to see you.

Speaker 0

嗨,莎拉。

Hey, Sarah.

Speaker 0

你最近怎么样?

How are you?

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

我挺好的。

I'm good.

Speaker 1

还行。

Alright.

Speaker 1

天哪。

My god.

Speaker 1

我们好久没见了。

It's been like so long since we've seen each other.

Speaker 0

不是。

No.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

咱们确实有好长时间没见了,

It's been ages, hasn't

Speaker 1

是吧?

it?

Speaker 1

你假期过得怎么样?

Did you have a nice vacation?

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

特别棒。

It was great.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

是的

Yeah.

Speaker 0

对

Yeah.

Speaker 1

我记不清了。

Where I forgot.

Speaker 1

你之前说你去哪儿了?

Where did you say that you you went?

Speaker 0

我们去了曼岛。

We went to we went to the Isle Of Man.

Speaker 0

是的

Yeah.

Speaker 1

你们去了曼岛?

You went to the Isle Of Man?

Speaker 0

对

Yeah.

Speaker 0

我们去了曼岛。

We went to the Isle Of Man.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

还不错。

It was it was pretty good.

Speaker 0

天气挺冷的。

It was quite cold.

Speaker 0

你去过那里吗?

But have you ever been there?

Speaker 1

我从来没去过,那地方到底在哪儿?

I've never been that where is that exactly?

Speaker 0

我不清楚。

I don't know.

Speaker 0

它在海里。

It's in the sea.

Speaker 1

是在爱尔兰海那边。

It's in the Right.

Speaker 1

那是个岛。

It's an island.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

我是想问具体在哪儿。

But I meant specifically located

Speaker 0

哦,到底在哪儿?

Oh, it's Where?

Speaker 0

它就在英格兰和爱尔兰之间。

It's it's it's sort of between England and and and Ireland.

Speaker 1

哦,原来如此。

Oh, oh, okay.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

我知道它在哪儿。

I know where is.

Speaker 0

就在海上的一个岛上。

Island in the in the sea there.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

所以我们去了那儿。

So we went we went there.

Speaker 1

那太好了。

Oh, that's great.

Speaker 0

待了几个星期。

Couple of weeks.

Speaker 0

你有去哪儿旅行吗?

Did you go away somewhere?

Speaker 1

去了。

I did.

Speaker 1

我回了美国。

I went back to The US.

Speaker 1

见了几个朋友。

I saw my friends.

Speaker 1

陪了父母一段时间。

I spent time with my parents.

Speaker 1

过得特别舒心。

So it was really nice.

Speaker 1

现在正慢慢适应回来,想从度假状态切换到工作模式,挺不容易的。

I'm having a, you know, interesting time adjusting back, trying, you know, get out of vacation mode into, like, work and everything.

Speaker 0

回来之后感觉怎么样?

How's it been getting back?

Speaker 1

挺慢的。

Oh, it's been slow.

Speaker 1

是啊。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

但我接下来的日程排得很满。

But I've got a busy schedule ahead.

Speaker 1

对。

Mhmm.

Speaker 1

要教几门新课。

Teaching a few new classes.

Speaker 1

这挺让人期待的。

So that's exciting.

Speaker 0

是啊。

Oh, yeah.

Speaker 0

怎么样?

How's it?

Speaker 0

教课还顺利吗?

How's the teaching going?

Speaker 1

还行。

It's going good.

Speaker 1

到目前为止,我特别喜欢我的学生们。

I love my students so far.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

他们真的很好,特别积极。

They're really great, really eager.

Speaker 1

所以我现在教得很开心。

So I'm having fun.

Speaker 1

那你现在还在哪儿教书?

And are you still where are you teaching?

Speaker 1

你在哪儿

Where are

Speaker 0

教书呢?

you still teaching?

Speaker 0

我现在在大学教书。

I'm I'm at the university now.

Speaker 1

哦,是啊。

Oh, yeah.

Speaker 0

开始新工作了。

Started the new job.

Speaker 0

那太好了。

Just That's great.

Speaker 0

其实就几周前的事。

Just just a couple of weeks ago, actually.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

不错。

Cool.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

挺不错的。

It's pretty good.

Speaker 0

是的

Yeah.

Speaker 0

挺不一样的,但特别有意思

It's it's it's different, but it's it's really interesting.

Speaker 0

是的

Yeah.

Speaker 0

完全是另一种教学环境

Totally a totally different teaching context.

Speaker 0

挺棒的

It's cool.

Speaker 0

是的

Yeah.

Speaker 0

我目前还在慢慢适应

So I'm just getting used to it at the moment.

Speaker 0

刚调整时有点压力,不过真的很好

It's been a bit stressful just adjusting to the the differences, but no, it's great.

Speaker 0

挺好的。

It's good.

Speaker 1

你女朋友怎么样?

And How's your girlfriend?

Speaker 0

哦,是啊。

Oh, yeah.

Speaker 0

她挺好的。

She's fine.

Speaker 1

她还好吗?

She's good?

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

她挺好的。

She's fine.

Speaker 0

谢谢。

Thanks.

Speaker 0

是的

Yeah.

Speaker 0

她也很忙。

She's quite busy too.

Speaker 0

不过我们假期玩得特别开心。

But we had we had a great time on a holiday.

Speaker 1

真不错。

Cool.

Speaker 0

她很喜欢马恩岛。

She she likes the Isle Of Man.

Speaker 0

我是说,这事儿挺意外的。

I mean, she it was a surprise.

Speaker 0

她根本不知道我们要去哪儿。

She didn't know where we were going.

Speaker 1

哦。

Oh.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

挺有意思的。

That's fun.

Speaker 0

所以她心想,我们这是要去哪儿啊?

So she thought, oh, where are we going?

Speaker 0

巴哈马?

The Bahamas?

Speaker 0

还是?

Or?

Speaker 0

不是。

Nope.

Speaker 0

我们要去曼岛。

We're gonna go to Isle Of Man?

Speaker 0

悉尼。

Sydney.

Speaker 0

根本不是那样。

It's like, no.

Speaker 0

不是。

No.

Speaker 0

不是。

No.

Speaker 0

比那还要好。

Even better than that.

Speaker 0

我们要去曼岛。

We're gonna go to the Isle Of Man.

Speaker 0

她问:曼岛?

She's like, the Isle Of Man?

Speaker 0

真的吗?

Wow.

Speaker 0

那地方在哪?

Where is that?

Speaker 0

太平洋?

The the Pacific?

Speaker 0

我当时就说,不是。

I was like, no.

Speaker 0

它在北海。

It's in the North Sea.

Speaker 0

它就在……而且

It's in it's in And

Speaker 1

她挺喜欢的。

she liked it.

Speaker 1

你这么一说,好像你让她特别失望,我有点怀疑你的话。

You're making it sound like the way you're setting this up is you really disappointed her, so I'm not sure I believe you.

Speaker 1

她本来想去悉尼。

She wanted to go to Sydney.

Speaker 1

你却带她去了那个岛。

You took her to the island.

Speaker 0

我就是开个玩笑,真的。

I'm just kidding, really.

Speaker 1

她特别讨厌那里。

She hated it.

Speaker 1

不是。

No.

Speaker 0

不是。

No.

Speaker 0

嗯,好吧。

We well, okay.

Speaker 0

回到现实吧。

Back to reality.

Speaker 1

所以。

So

Speaker 0

再回到现实。

Back to reality again.

Speaker 0

所以,彭恒,事情就是这样。

So there you go, Penheng.

Speaker 0

我想,如果我们跟一个人关系很好,就会问问他们最近在忙什么。

I guess what we do is we if we're friend if we're quite good friends with a person, we ask them about what they've been doing.

Speaker 0

所以我们通常会关心他们最近的活动。

So we ask them about their recent activities.

Speaker 0

比如,你最近在做什么?

So, you know, for example, what have you been doing?

Speaker 0

我会说我去度假了,或者在工作,我们经常聊这些个人经历。

So I've been on holiday or I've been working, and we ask about often about personal experiences.

Speaker 0

还有家人的情况。

Family.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

我觉得很容易就能换个话题,这正是我刚才想做的。

And I think you can easily change the subject, which is what I tried to do.

Speaker 1

比如你刚说教书挺顺利的,我就顺口问了一句,你女朋友怎么样?

Like, you were talking about teaching's going well, and then I just said, oh, and how's your girlfriend?

Speaker 1

对啊。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

听别人说话时转个话题,完全没问题。

It's perfectly acceptable to listen to someone and then change the subject to something else.

Speaker 0

只要你表现出对对方生活的关心,真心在意他们的幸福和状态,我觉得这其实是个不错的建议——多问问‘你最近怎么样?’

As long as you're as long as you're sort of showing interest in the per in the other person's life and as long as you're showing interest in in their happiness and their well-being, I think that's kind of a good bit of advice, I think, is to focus on, you know, how are you?

Speaker 0

你过得好吗?

Are you well?

Speaker 0

简单说就是一切还顺心吧,尽量往积极的方向聊。

Basically, is everything And keep it positive.

Speaker 0

多问些能让对方谈谈自己的问题。

Ask sort of ask questions that allow the person to talk about themselves a little bit.

Speaker 0

有时候我们会问一些关于感受的事,比如‘你新工作感觉怎么样?’

Sometimes we we ask about, you know, our feelings, like, how is your new job?

Speaker 0

你知道的。

You know?

Speaker 0

哦,挺好的。

Oh, it's good.

Speaker 0

谢谢。

Thanks.

Speaker 0

我最近有点压力,估计你也挺不容易的。

I'm having a you know, it's it's a little bit stressful or that must be difficult.

Speaker 0

所以要带着同情心和友好态度,问问对方的个人经历,或者朋友家人之类的事情。

So sort of sympathetic, friendly, asking about personal experiences and maybe asking about friends or relatives, things like that.

Speaker 0

明白吗?

Okay?

Speaker 0

对吧?

Yes?

Speaker 1

我觉得这样挺好。

I think that's okay.

Speaker 0

好的。

Alright.

Speaker 0

那我们接着说说奥马尔·达比,奥马尔说,谢谢你的工作,卢克。

So let's move on to Omar Dabi, and Omar says, thanks Luke for your work.

Speaker 0

其实我没什么特别的问题要问。

In fact, I don't have particular questions to ask.

Speaker 0

我就等着听一听,学点东西。

I'm just waiting to listen and learn.

Speaker 0

现在不就在进行吗,奥马尔。

Well, it's happening now, Omar.

Speaker 0

你一边听着,一边也在学。

You're listening and you're learning at the same time.

Speaker 1

希望你真学到点什么。

I hope you're learning something.

Speaker 0

希望你没把以前懂的东西给忘了。

I hope you're not forgetting things that you used to know.

Speaker 0

对。

Right.

Speaker 0

没错。

Right.

Speaker 0

塔蒂亚娜说:

Tatiana says

Speaker 1

你好,卢克。

Hi, Luke.

Speaker 1

感谢你的付出。

Thanks for your work.

Speaker 1

你的播客真的帮我在听力上进步不少。

Your podcast really helps me to improve my skills in listening.

Speaker 1

希望萨拉早日康复,流感没那么严重。

I hope that Sarah will be okay soon and the flu isn't serious.

Speaker 1

谢谢你,塔蒂亚娜。

Thank you, Tatiana.

Speaker 1

我感觉好多了。

I'm I'm feeling much better.

Speaker 1

其实没那么严重,但你知道,天气一变就容易感冒。

It was not very serious, but, you know, when the weather changes, you get sick.

Speaker 0

现在到处都在传这种病。

It's going round at the moment.

Speaker 1

请你问她,每天要花多少时间学英语,才能流利地说出来?

Please ask her how much time is it necessary to spend learning English every day before you can speak English fluently?

Speaker 1

塔蒂亚娜。

Tatiana.

Speaker 1

考虑到我从婴儿时期就开始接触了,那可是花了好多年。

Well, considering that I started doing this when I was a baby, it took years.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

一直都在学。

All the time.

Speaker 0

那你那时候还是个婴儿?

And that's when you were a baby?

Speaker 0

全天候都在学。

Twenty fourseven.

Speaker 0

婴儿学东西的方式是不一样的。

You learn differently as a baby.

Speaker 1

所以我觉得,我们之前提到的一些要点,当然,如果完全不管现实情况,能吸收多少就吸收多少,但现实是,你有生活,我不清楚你住哪儿,你有工作,有朋友,有家人。

So I would say kind of some of the themes that we've already touched on, know of course in a vacuum, you know, just take it all in as much as you can, but then that's, you know, you have a life, I don't know where you live, you have a job, you have friends, you have family.

Speaker 1

所以我的建议是,尽量以有意义的方式去学。

So I would say try to do as much as you can in a meaningful way.

Speaker 1

意思是,别以为开个英文电影当背景音,一边做家务一边听,就能自然学会。

Meaning, don't think that you can just turn on a movie in English and have it playing in the background and be cleaning your house and just think that way it's, you know, it's gonna get in there.

Speaker 1

你得真正投入进去,说实话,得多种方式结合才行。

It has to be engaging for you, and I think it takes a little bit of everything, honestly.

Speaker 1

得读一点,听一点,也许再写一点,综合起来才有效。

You need to to read a little, listen a little, maybe write a little, a kind of a mix.

Speaker 0

我觉得塔蒂亚娜具体问的是,到底需要花多少时间。

I think I mean, Tatiana's actually specifically asked how how long, like, how much time is necessary.

Speaker 0

说实话,很难给出一个确切的天数或者

It's I mean, it's to be honest, it's difficult to give, like, a specific number of days or

Speaker 1

对。

Right.

Speaker 0

小时数来保证你能流利掌握,这完全因人而异。

Specific number of hours before you can get fluent, and it depends it depends on each individual.

Speaker 0

有些人学语言特别快,很快就说得流利了。

Some people seem to pick the language up really fast, and they get fluent really quickly.

Speaker 0

但有些人就得花上更长的时间。

Others, it takes a lot longer.

Speaker 0

所以,塔蒂亚娜,这大概还是得看你个人的性格。

So, Tatiana, I guess it sort of depends on you and your your your personality.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

但你说得对。

But you're right.

Speaker 0

萨拉说得没错。

What Sarah is right.

Speaker 0

我的意思是,我们确实知道,只要你主动参与学习过程,就会有帮助。

I mean, what we do know is that actively, you know, engage with the learning process, that's gonna help.

Speaker 0

如果你多尝试、尽可能多地投入,保持积极、耐心,并且积极参与学习,这都会很有帮助。

And if you do lots you know, do as many things as you can, stay positive, be patient, and get involved with the learning process, that's gonna help.

Speaker 0

我想我几年前做过一期节目,叫《你是英语学习的高手吗?》

I think I did an episode a couple of years ago, which is called, are you a good learner of English?

Speaker 0

我建议你回头去听一下那期节目,里面有很多关于如何成为优秀英语学习者的实用建议。

And I I recommend that you go back to that episode and listen to it because it's full of bits of advice on how to be a good learner of English, basically.

Speaker 1

不好意思。

There sorry.

Speaker 1

我最近看到一项研究,说要在社交层面达到英语流利水平,大概需要三到五年。

There was a study that I saw recently that said in order to gain fluency on a social level in English, it can take three to five years.

Speaker 0

哇哦。

Woah.

Speaker 0

但这三年到五年具体是指什么呢?

Three to five years of what, though?

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

我认为关键是能持续地深入参与其中。

I I think engaging in a meaningful way on a regular basis.

Speaker 1

至于学术层面,大概需要五到七年。

And for academic, you know, five to seven years.

Speaker 1

不过我们这里说的是双语能力。

But this is we're talking bilingual.

Speaker 1

双语意味着你能够完全自如地使用两种语言。

Bilingualism, like you're 100%.

Speaker 1

但这并不意味着你不能更早达到很高的水平。

It doesn't mean you can't have a very high level sooner than that.

Speaker 1

对我来说,有一件事挺让人烦的。

I think for me, something that's quite annoying.

Speaker 1

我搬到了法国。

I moved to France.

Speaker 1

我在法国已经待了一年多。

I've been in France for over a year.

Speaker 1

我一直学法语,别人总说:‘你现在肯定很流利了吧。’

I've been a a student of French, and people say, oh, you must be fluent by now.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

但我其实并不觉得我流利。

And I'm like, no.

Speaker 1

学一门外语真的很难,不可能这么快就达到流利的程度。

It's very difficult to learn a foreign language, and you don't gain fluency like that.

Speaker 0

塔蒂亚诺夫,假如你整天只用英语,说话、学习、听英语,而且课余时间也全都是英语环境。

Tatianov, if if you if you did nothing but operated purely in English, you spoke English all day, you studied English, you listened to English, and then outside of your classes, everything was in English.

Speaker 0

事实上,你根本听不到也读不到你的母语,塔蒂亚娜,我不知道你的母语是什么,但你完全沉浸在英语环境中。

In fact, was no Russian or no I don't know what your first language is, Tatiana, but there's no you you never hear or read your first language.

Speaker 0

你一整年都只用英语交流、学习、听英语,离开课堂后也全是英语,这显然比一年里只在课堂上学六个小时,一出教室就又回到母语环境要有效得多,那种方式效果肯定差很多。

You just operate for, like, a whole year just in English, that obviously is going to be a lot more effective than a year in which you spend six hours studying in a class, and then as soon as you leave that classroom it's back to your first language again, Then, you know, that's not gonna be as effective.

Speaker 0

所以关键在于你怎么安排你的时间。

So it really depends on how you spend the time.

Speaker 0

因此,很难给出一个具体的天数来衡量。

So it's very hard to, you know, give a specific number of days.

Speaker 1

而且我觉得卢克并不是说你必须完全这么做,因为这不现实,生活也不是这样的。

And I don't think Luke is saying you do the first thing because that's not realistic, and that's not how life is.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

这没关系。

And that's okay.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

这其实就是一个平衡的问题,你知道的。

You can you can it's just a question of balance, you know.

Speaker 0

很多人不可能完全用英语生活。

Often people can't do everything in English.

Speaker 0

这得看情况。

It depends.

Speaker 0

但一般来说,我觉得至少得花上一年,当然这取决于你的起点,但总之是个长期的过程。

But generally speaking, it I think it takes about a year or at least a year, I think, to again, it depends where your starting point is, but it's a long term.

Speaker 0

这绝对是件需要长期坚持的事。

It's a long term thing, definitely.

Speaker 1

比如我暑假带的学生,我建议他们——这是针对中级英语学习者的。

I mean, for my students over the summer, I recommended, and this is for a intermediate English student.

Speaker 1

我让他们每天写十分钟日记,主题可以自己选,有时候我会给个题目。

I just gave an exercise, write for ten minutes in a journal every day of a topic of your choice, sometimes I gave him topics.

Speaker 1

同时每天读一个小时的书。

And also read for an hour.

Speaker 1

这孩子正在放暑假,所以他们知道这不是在干活。

And this was for a child on summer break so they know they're not working.

Speaker 1

每天读一个小时。

And read for an hour every day.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

很好。

Good.

Speaker 1

在课堂之外这么做,我觉得对他很有帮助。

And to do that, when you're not in the classroom setting, I think was helpful for him.

Speaker 1

我的意思是,如果你给自己定个目标,每天一个小目标。

So my point is, if you create a goal for yourself, a daily goal, and it can be small.

Speaker 1

比如,我每天要读十五分钟英文材料。

It can be just, I'm going to read in English for fifteen minutes every day.

Speaker 1

这很有意义。

That's meaningful.

Speaker 1

是的

Yeah.

Speaker 1

这样很好

That's good.

Speaker 1

没错

Yeah.

Speaker 1

别以为当然能做多少就做多少,要对自己现实一点,定一个切实可行的目标,有挑战但能实现。

Don't think, you know, of course, obviously, the more you can do, but be realistic to yourself and make a goal that's achievable, that's hard but achievable.

Speaker 0

我觉得设定现实的目标是非常有帮助的。

I think setting realistic goals is a very useful thing to do.

Speaker 0

很多时候,问题在于有没有条理。

Often, it's a question of being organized.

Speaker 0

如果你学习时有条理,给自己设定切实可行的目标,就能更容易地一步步前进。

You're If organized about your learning and you set yourself some realistic goals, then that kind of allows you to make steps more more easily.

Speaker 0

但塔蒂亚娜,我们其实并不了解你的学习方式。

But Tatiana, we don't know what your learning process is as a matter of fact.

Speaker 0

所以,你不妨说说你是怎么学习的。

So, you know, feel free to share your your approach to learning.

Speaker 0

我很想知道你平时是怎么做的。

I wonder how you how you're doing it.

Speaker 0

也许你就是听听卢克的英语播客,这就够了,谁知道呢?

Maybe it's just Luke's English podcast and that's enough and who knows?

Speaker 0

也许有一天你会当上你们国家的总统,说话还说得跟我一样。

Maybe you're gonna be like the the president of your country one day, and you'll you'll speak like like me.

Speaker 0

那样的话,还挺有意思的。

You know, that would be interesting.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 0

想象一下一位总统的样子。

Imagine the president.

Speaker 0

接下来,让我们欢迎俄罗斯总统塔蒂亚娜·波塞耶尔。

And we now welcome the president of Russia, Tatiana Possevier.

Speaker 0

我不确定塔蒂亚娜是不是来自俄罗斯,这可能有点冒犯,但她一上来就说:大家好。

I don't know if Tatiana's from Russia, though, so I I and that might be very offensive, but she comes along and goes, hello, everyone.

Speaker 0

欢迎来到我的国家。

Welcome to my country.

Speaker 0

这位是塔蒂亚娜,来自塔蒂亚娜的国家。

This is Tatiana from Tatiana's country.

Speaker 1

塔蒂亚娜的国家播客。

Tatiana's Country podcast.

Speaker 1

我是说,塔蒂亚娜的国家。

I mean, Tatiana's Country.

Speaker 0

今天,我要签署一项和平协议。

Today, I'm I'm today, I'm ratifying a peace agreement.

Speaker 0

你可能会想,和平协议是什么东西?

You might think to yourself, what's a peace agreement?

Speaker 0

那大概就是当一个国家的总统,英语是从那个混杂的英语播客里学来的吧。

Well, that would be if if the president of a country had learned their English from the mixed English podcast.

Speaker 0

这肯定会

That's gonna

Speaker 1

是个段子。

be a sketch.

Speaker 1

没关系,因为接下来我们会和莎拉·唐纳利喝杯咖啡,她会来解释一下她批准和平协议的方法。

It's okay because we're gonna have a cup of coffee with Sarah Donnelly, who's gonna explain her methods of ratifying a peace agreement.

Speaker 0

在座的各国代表们,今天齐聚于此,欢迎随时在这段演讲下方留言评论。

Feel free, delegates from other countries who have gathered here today, feel free to leave a comment under this this speech.

Speaker 0

我知道这不太可能,不过我们还是继续吧。

I know that's not possible, but nevertheless, let's carry on.

Speaker 1

继续吧。

Let's carry on.

Speaker 0

好。

Alright.

Speaker 0

所以我们快问完了,下一个问题是来自Mohammed Reza的,他说:为什么我有时候说话会感到困惑?

So we're near the end of these questions, and the the next one is Mohammed Reza who says, why he says, why do I get confused sometimes when I speak?

Speaker 0

我懂这些词,但一开口就想不起来。

I know the words, but I can't remember them at the time of speaking.

Speaker 0

有什么办法能解决这个问题吗?

Is there any method to tackle this?

Speaker 0

天哪。

Oh, dear.

Speaker 0

好吧。

Okay.

Speaker 0

我听过一个说法,是迈克尔·弗朗西斯的一位老师朋友告诉我的,他说人脑其实分成两部分。

I've heard this thing which is that something a a teacher friend of Michael Francis told me once or I heard him explain it that the there are two parts of the brain.

Speaker 0

明白吗?

Okay?

Speaker 0

一部分是负责说话的嘴巴,另一部分是负责语法的脑区。

There's well, there's there's your mouth, which does the speaking, and then there's the grammar section of your brain.

Speaker 0

这两部分是连着的,但连接得很细。

And they are connected, but they're connected by a very thin line.

Speaker 0

明白吧?

Okay?

Speaker 0

有时候这个连接会断掉。

And sometimes the connection breaks.

Speaker 0

所以当你说话的时候,就会失去与大脑中负责语法规则和词义部分的联系。

So when you're speaking, you know, you lose the connection with the parts of your brain that understands the rules of grammar and the meaning of words.

Speaker 0

我想这就是为什么你会把语言知识储存在大脑的另一个区域。

So I guess that's what happens is that you store knowledge of the language in a different place in your of your brain.

Speaker 0

就是那个负责即时表达和组织话语的部分。

So the part which deals with speaking and and creating discourse on the spot.

Speaker 1

当你用第二语言、第三语言,或者任何非母语回应时,真的特别难,因为你得现场构造句子。

Well, it's very difficult when you're responding in a second language or third language or whatever or language that your non native language, and you have to you're creating the sentence.

Speaker 1

你想表达一种感受或者观点,尤其是当你一边说一边自我检查的时候,比如:

You know, you're trying to express a feeling that you have or an opinion, especially if you're trying to kind of check yourself as you go along and say, okay.

Speaker 1

我这个动词的位置对吗?

Am I am I putting the verb in the right place?

Speaker 1

我动词变位用对了吗?诸如此类的问题?

Have I conjugated this correctly and all these things?

Speaker 1

我在学法语的时候就有过这种经历。

I I experienced this in French.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

真的很让人沮丧。

And it is frustrating.

Speaker 1

你就是想把话说出来,可就是表达不出想说的意思。

You're just trying to get the words out or you can't say what you wanna say.

Speaker 1

但我觉得在这些时刻,我也得提醒自己这一点。

But I think in those moments and I have to remind myself this as well.

Speaker 1

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

你可以花一分钟想想。

You can take a minute.

Speaker 1

不用非得停一分钟,但你可以停几秒钟,深呼吸一下,再重新试一次。因为你知道,当我们情绪上来、感到沮丧的时候,就像跟人吵架一样。

Not not a minute but you can take a few seconds and take the pause and then try again because you know, when we get worked up, when we get frustrated, even, you know, it's like when you're having an argument with someone.

Speaker 1

如果你急了、烦了,话就是说不出来,跟你想的完全不一样。

If you get worked up and you get frustrated and things aren't coming out the way that you want them to.

Speaker 1

所以试着给自己一点时间冷静下来,哪怕只是停一下,等一等。

So try to maybe take a moment to calm yourself down, you know, even just a beat to wait.

Speaker 0

对。

Yes.

Speaker 1

然后重新开始,再试一次。

And then try and then go for the second time.

Speaker 1

你学得越多,越放松,这种情况就会越来越少。

And the more you learn and the more comfortable you become, that happens less.

Speaker 1

但说实话,就是说英语的时候,我也常忘了词,或者说到一半忘了自己想表达什么。

But, of course, even when I speak English, there are times I forget words or the end of what I'm trying to say, the point I'm trying to make.

Speaker 1

这很正常。

I mean, it's just normal.

Speaker 1

我们都是普通人。

We're humans.

Speaker 0

我觉得这也是靠练习。

I think also it's practice.

Speaker 0

就是不断地练习,练习,再练习。

Just practice, practice, practice.

Speaker 0

你练习说话越多,就是在越频繁地锻炼大脑的这部分。

The more you you practice speaking, the the the more you're exercising that part of your brain.

Speaker 0

有点像去健身房一样。

It's like going to the gym in a way.

Speaker 0

一遍又一遍地练,自然就会越来越轻松。

Practice it again and again, and it'll become easier.

Speaker 0

就是多练,多练,多练,多练。

Just practice practice practice practice.

Speaker 0

我打算放弃用iPad了,说实话,我觉得问题出在那个应用上。

My I'm giving up on the iPad because for some reason I think to be honest, it's the app.

Speaker 0

不是iPad的问题。

It's not the iPad.

Speaker 0

是我用的那个Facebook应用有问题。

It's the Facebook app that I'm using.

Speaker 0

所以我打算换到手机上用。

So I'm switching to my mobile.

Speaker 0

你知道吗,莎拉?

You know what, Sarah?

Speaker 0

我们漏掉了一些问题。

We missed out some questions.

Speaker 1

是啊,我们确实漏了。

We did.

Speaker 1

我知道漏了,因为我看到有一个问题我读过,但还没提到。

I know we did because there was one that I read and hasn't been addressed.

Speaker 0

我试着把这些漏掉的问题补上。

I'm gonna try and deal with them.

Speaker 0

所以豪尔赫问你好。

So Joaquin says, hi.

Speaker 0

恭喜你做了这个播客。

Congratulations for the podcast.

Speaker 0

挺棒的。

It's cool.

Speaker 0

谢谢。

Thanks.

Speaker 0

我想知道英国和美国的老师在教学上是不是有同样的方法。

I'd like to know if British and American teachers have the same approach to teaching.

Speaker 0

我的英国老师总是把语法和他们国家的文化习俗紧密结合来教语言,而美国老师更关注教你怎么在日常生活中交流,而不是太学术化地使用英语。

My British teachers have always taught the language with a high dose of grammar together with their country culture and customs, while the Americans have been more worried about teaching how to communicate in daily life rather than being very academic in the use of language in the use of English.

Speaker 0

我觉得我其实可以很快回答,而且反过来讲也说得通。

I I think I can probably answer that pretty quickly and say, I find you could say it the other way around as well.

Speaker 0

我觉得在英国,我们通常也是结合日常英语、习俗和文化来教的。

I think in Britain we often teach with reference to everyday English and customs and culture.

Speaker 0

在英国,课程类型多种多样,有些更偏学术,注重语言本身的理论,有些则更实用,主要教你怎么在实际生活中完成特定任务。

I I I know in Britain you you get lots of different types of course, some which are more academic folk have a more academic focus on the language, and others which are a lot more practical and based on generally just how to achieve certain functional things in

Speaker 1

对于那些想知道教学风格差异的人来说,也许你是在找英语课吧?我建议你多了解一下不同学校,因为每家的教学方式都不一样。你可以先判断一下,这门课是更侧重语法、基础训练和重复练习,还是别的方向?

I the think for people who are asking questions about differences in teaching styles, and maybe you're asking this because you're looking to find an English class, yeah, I think look into different schools because there's going to be different approaches and I think you can get the sense of, you know, is this going to be more academic and focused on really the nuts and bolts and repetition?

Speaker 1

他们会组织小团体外出活动吗?

Do they offer things like, you know, small group outings?

Speaker 1

这些课程之间主要有哪些区别?

What what are kind of the differences in the programs?

Speaker 1

我会在一个五十人的大教室里听课,还是会分在小班里学习?

Am I going to be in a class with 50 people In a lecture type setting or am I going to be in a smaller group?

Speaker 0

这要看具体学校,甚至具体老师。

It depends on the individual institution or even the teacher.

Speaker 0

确实很难对这些事情一概而论。

Yeah, it's very hard to make generalizations about these things.

Speaker 0

没错。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

大家好。

Hello, everybody.

Speaker 0

不好意思打断一下,但很遗憾,由于技术问题,这段录音就只剩这些了。

Sorry to interrupt the episode, but I'm afraid due to a technical problem, that's all I have of that recording.

Speaker 0

原本我和莎拉还聊了至少二十分钟,专门回应大家的问题,但因为我的老电脑出了故障,不知怎么的,最后二十分钟的录音丢了。

Now, originally, Sarah and I talked for at least another twenty minutes, in response to your questions, but because of my old and, malfunctioning computer, for some reason, I lost the last twenty minutes.

Speaker 0

所以这一期就到这里了,很遗憾,我过段时间再和大家见面。

So, that's all for this episode, I'm afraid, and I will speak to you again at some point in the near future.

Speaker 0

就这样了。

So that's it.
