Speaker 0

大家好。

Hello, everybody.

Speaker 0

欢迎来到本播客。

Welcome to the podcast.

Speaker 0

我想这应该是第181期。

This is, I believe, episode number 181.

Speaker 0

其实这一期只是想帮大家梳理和解释一下,如果你听了第180期,可能会听到的一些词汇、短语和表达。

And really, it's just a chance for me to explain and clarify some of the vocabulary phrases and expressions that you may have heard if you've listened to episode 180.

Speaker 0

第180期其实是我和我兄弟的一次Skype通话,我跟他聊了聊他滑板受伤的事。

Episode 180 was basically a Skype call with my brother in which I talked to him about his skateboarding injury that he's that he'd experienced.

Speaker 0

他从滑板上摔下来,肩膀脱臼了。

He fell off his skateboard and he dislocated his shoulder.

Speaker 0

哎哟。

Ouch.

Speaker 0

如果你听了那一整段,我不知道你是不是全听懂了。

So if you listen to all of that, I wonder if you understood it all.

Speaker 0

没听懂也没关系,毕竟你是在学习嘛。

It's not a problem if you didn't understand it all because ultimately, you're trying to learn.

Speaker 0

你得让自己接触那些不完全明白的东西,不然怎么学得会新语言呢?

So, you know, you have to expose yourself to things that you don't completely understand because otherwise, how are you gonna pick up new language?

Speaker 0

不过,有个人帮忙确实挺有帮助的,对吧?

It helps though, doesn't it?

Speaker 0

如果有像我这样的老师,帮你指出那些不懂的地方,或者至少解释清楚你困惑的部分。

If you have someone like a teacher, maybe me, for example, who can point out the things that you don't understand or at least explain the things and clarify the bits that you're not understanding.

Speaker 0

我现在特别想把对话里的每一件事都解释清楚,全部都讲明白。

Now what I would love to do is explain absolutely everything in the conversation, all of it.

Speaker 0

那段对话大概持续了四十五分钟,可能有一个小时。

The conversation was about forty five minutes long, maybe one hour.

Speaker 0

但我还没能把整期节目都解释完。

But what I have I I haven't managed to explain the entire episode.

Speaker 0

我做不到。

I can't do that.

Speaker 0

时间不够。

There isn't time.

Speaker 0

我又不是超人。

I'm not Superman.

Speaker 0

连蝙蝠侠都不是,你知道的。

I'm not even Batman, you know.

Speaker 0

我根本不是什么超级英雄。

I'm not any of the superheroes.

Speaker 0

我只是卢克,卢克英语播客的主持人。

I'm just Luke from Luke's English podcast.

Speaker 0

你或许会觉得,光是这一点就已经够厉害了。

You might consider that to be a kind of superpower in itself.

Speaker 0

我的确有点绝活儿。

I mean, I do have some Jedi skills.

Speaker 0

你可能会问,卢克,你有什么绝活儿?

What Jedi skills do you have, Luke?

Speaker 0

你可能在想。

You might be thinking.

Speaker 0

我 basically 能让某些事别发生。

Well, I can basically make things not happen.

Speaker 0

就像绝地武士那样,能让事情发生,比如欧比旺说的,‘你看到的这些不是你要找的机器人。’

You know, the way Jedi's can can make things happen like like Obi Wan Kenobi says, you know, these aren't the droids you're looking for.

Speaker 0

你该干嘛干嘛去,他就能让人说出那些话来。

You can go about your business and he kind of makes people say things.

Speaker 0

你知道吗,绝地武士能用意念搬动物体,还能让人做事情。

You know, Jedis can lift objects objects with with the the power of their mind and make people do things.

Speaker 0

我呢,就有本事让某些事情根本不会发生。

Well, I have the ability to make things not happen.

Speaker 0

比如,我可以对一个女孩说:你今晚不会跟我睡觉,结果真就不睡。

For example, I could say to a girl, you will refuse to sleep with me tonight, and it and it happens.

Speaker 0

她真的就没跟我睡觉。

She does refuse to sleep with me.

Speaker 0

这招挺巧妙的。

It's it's it's clever.

Speaker 0

我觉得大多数人其实都有这本事。

I think most people have that ability.

Speaker 0

不过话说回来,等等。

But anyway oh, hold on.

Speaker 0

我得把笔记本插上电了,只剩百分之几的电量了。

I've got to plug in my laptop into the power because it's only got a couple of percent battery.

Speaker 0

我先去插上电源。

Let me just get the power supply.

Speaker 0

咔哒。

Click.

Speaker 0

好了。

Okay.

Speaker 0

总算恢复了。

We're back in.

Speaker 0

真是谢天谢地。

Thank goodness.

Speaker 0

卢克英语播客的总部刚才差点就瘫了。

The headquarters of Luke's English podcast nearly broke down there.

Speaker 0

不过我扯远了。

Anyway, I'm rambling.

Speaker 0

集中点,卢克。

Get it together, Luke.

Speaker 0

你得冷静下来。

Get to get get yourself under control.

Speaker 0

你到底想表达什么?

What are you trying to say?

Speaker 0

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 0

这期节目是我来解释和澄清上期节目中你听到的、我和我兄弟对话的前十五分钟内容。

This episode is a chance for me to explain and clarify the first fifteen minutes of the conversation with my brother that you heard in the previous episode.

Speaker 0

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 0

我列了个清单,把詹姆斯在那前十五分钟里说的一些话,还有我自己说的一些话都写下来了,现在一一给你们说明。

So I've made a list of some things that James or or James said or some things that I said in the first fifteen minutes of that conversation and I'm now gonna explain them to you.

Speaker 0

这些表达在网站上都能看到,要么在这期节目页面,要么在上期节目页面。

You can see all of these phrases written on the website either for this episode or the previous one.

Speaker 0

上期是第一集,而这期是第181集,你们都知道。

That's episode one and this this is episode 181 as you know.

Speaker 0

Speaker 0

去那里看看。

Go there.

Speaker 0

如果你想轻松一下,就去那儿,那里有很多适合学英语的内容。

If you wanna have a good time, just go there and you can find stuff out if you wanna learn some English.

Speaker 0

对。

Right.

Speaker 0

那我们开始吧?

So let's get started, shall we?

Speaker 0

首先,我想为我弟弟那些小动作道歉。

First of all, I'd just like to say sorry for my brother's fiddling and fidgeting.

Speaker 0

你可能听到了一些声音,比如轻轻敲击或者坐立不安的响动。

You might have heard noises, you know, little tapping noises and fidgeting sounds.

Speaker 0

说实话,确实挺烦人的。

You know, it's it's very annoying.

Speaker 0

就是这种事。

You know, that kind of thing.

Speaker 0

对你来说确实挺烦的。

It's very annoying for you.

Speaker 0

我希望你没被这些事太多打扰到。

I sincerely hope that you weren't distracted by that too much.

Speaker 0

第180期的内容难度不小。

There were quite a lot of challenges in episode 180.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

中间有不少地方可能让你听不下去。

Lots of barriers that could have prevented you from listening to the entire episode.

Speaker 0

比如我兄弟捣鼓时发出的噪音,还有对话里你听不懂的内容,再加上Skype通话的音质问题。

Those barriers being noises that my brother was making while fiddling around, and the other barriers being just stuff in the conversation that you didn't understand, and maybe the sound quality of the Skype call.

Speaker 0

这些因素都可能让你中途放弃听下去。

All of these things could have stopped you listening to it.

Speaker 0

如果真是这样,你中途停下来不听了,那也没关系。

If that's the case and you did stop listening to it, well, you know, never mind.

Speaker 0

这么说的话,确实有点遗憾。

That's a kind of a fail there, suppose.

Speaker 0

对某个人来说,这算是一种失败。

A kind of a failure for someone.

Speaker 0

可能是我做得不够好,没让你听得很轻松。

Maybe me because I didn't make it easy enough for you.

Speaker 0

也可能是你没耐心坚持听完,这才算失败。

Maybe it's a failure for you because you didn't have the patience to keep listening to it.

Speaker 0

我不是说你不行。

I'm not saying that you're no.

Speaker 0

当然不是。

Of course not.

Speaker 0

我从不觉得我的听众会缺乏耐心。

I wouldn't suggest that any of my listeners are impatient.

Speaker 0

对。

Right.

Speaker 0

好了,咱们继续吧。

Anyway, let's let's get back to it.

Speaker 0

我只是想说声抱歉,我弟弟刚才一直在那儿摆弄个不停。

I just wanted to say sorry that my brother was fiddling and fidgeting around.

Speaker 0

他这个人比较敏感,你知道的。

But he's a bit of a sensitive guy, you know.

Speaker 0

有时候他反应会有点过头。

Sometimes he can overreact.

Speaker 0

我要是让他别闹了,他就会立刻说:‘对不起啊。’

If I tell him to stop fiddling, then he kinda goes, oh, I'm sorry.

Speaker 0

搞得跟天塌了一样。

And it's a big drama.

Speaker 0

所以我一般不敢多说,怕惹他不高兴。

So I can't do it too much because I don't want to piss him off.

Speaker 0

因为我要是惹他不高兴,他就会说:算了,我不录了,他一向这样。

Because if I irritate him, then he's just gonna say, oh, I don't wanna do this anymore because that's the way he does things.

Speaker 0

哦,算了算了,你懂的。

Oh, oh, just forget it then, you know.

Speaker 0

我不希望事情变成这样。

I don't wanna I don't want that to happen.

Speaker 0

我希望他能继续跟我一起做这个播客。

I want him to keep, you know, talking to me for the podcast.

Speaker 0

但同时我也在想,对听众来说,这肯定特别烦人。

But at the same time, I'm thinking for my listeners, this must be really annoying.

Speaker 0

你知道的,做免费时间做的播客,本来就会这样。

You know, but that's just what happens when you, you know, when you do podcasts in your free time.

Speaker 0

我没有录音棚。

I don't have a studio.

Speaker 0

这事儿你懂的。

You know the story.

Speaker 0

你懂的。

You know the deal.

Speaker 0

现在没必要再细说了。

No need to go into it in any more detail now.

Speaker 0

没错。

Right.

Speaker 0

那你觉得我们刚才说了些什么?

So what are some of the things that you heard us saying?

Speaker 0

我其实还行,考虑到情况的话。

Let's start with I'm not too bad, thanks, considering.

Speaker 0

这是我兄弟说的。

So that's something my brother said.

Speaker 0

你可能得再把这一集,第180集,重新听一遍,专门听听对话的前半段,大概前十五分钟,帮自己回忆一下。

What you might have to do here is go through the episode again, episode one eighty again, and just listen to the first part of the conversation, first fifteen minutes or so, and just refresh your memories.

Speaker 0

不过这里有一些重点。

But here are some of the things.

Speaker 0

总之,我问我兄弟最近怎么样。

Anyway, so I said to my brother, how are you doing?

Speaker 0

他说,还行吧。

He said, I'm not too bad.

Speaker 0

谢谢关心。

Thanks.

Speaker 0

毕竟情况也不算太糟。

Considering.

Speaker 0

嗯,明白了。

Okay.

Speaker 0

毕竟情况也不算太糟。

Considering.

Speaker 0

你要把这句话补全,应该是:我最近还行。

Now you would to complete that sentence, it would be, I'm not too bad.

Speaker 0

谢谢关心。

Thanks.

Speaker 0

毕竟我刚脱臼了肩膀。

Considering I've just dislocated my shoulder.

Speaker 0

但我还行。

But I'm not too bad.

Speaker 0

谢谢。

Thanks.

Speaker 0

考虑到。

Considering.

Speaker 0

就这样了。

Full stop.

Speaker 0

这种说法挺常见的,就是一个人经历了糟心事之后,还说自己过得不错。

That's that's the sort of thing it's a fairly common thing that someone would say if they are okay after having experienced something bad.

Speaker 0

哦,还行吧。

Oh, not too bad.

Speaker 0

谢谢,考虑到这些。

Thanks considering.

Speaker 0

好吗?

Okay?

Speaker 0

行吧。

Alright.

Speaker 0

还行。

Fine.

Speaker 0

想象一下,有个人刚出了事故。

So imagine someone has just had an accident.

Speaker 0

嘿,你怎么样?

Hey, how are you?

Speaker 0

还行吧,毕竟情况也没那么糟。

Oh, I'm alright, considering.

Speaker 0

他们其实没把话说完。

They don't actually finish the sentence.

Speaker 0

这句话就停在‘毕竟’这儿了。

This just ends with considering.

Speaker 0

还好吧。

Fine.

Speaker 0

前天我滑滑板时摔了一跤。

Next, we had the day before yesterday, I came a cropper on my skateboard.

Speaker 0

‘Come a cropper’就是指发生意外。

If you come a cropper, it means you have an accident.

Speaker 0

你摔倒了,或者被什么东西撞到了。

You fall over, something hits you.

Speaker 0

这只是表达发生意外的另一种说法。

It's just another way to say that you have an accident.

Speaker 0

‘Cropper’指的是受伤的人,或者摔倒的人。

A cropper is like someone who someone who's injured or someone who's fallen over.

Speaker 0

所以,这其实是个固定搭配。

So basically, it's a fixed phrase.

Speaker 0

‘Come a cropper’就是发生意外的意思。

To come a cropper means to have an accident.

Speaker 0

明白吗?

Okay?

Speaker 0

前天我滑滑板时摔了一跤,肩膀脱臼了。

The day before yesterday, I came a cropper on my skateboard and dislocated my shoulder.

Speaker 0

你应该知道脱臼是什么意思。

Now, you know what dislocated means.

Speaker 0

就是肩膀的骨头从关节窝里脱出来了,或者胳膊的骨头从肩关节里脱出来了。

It just means that the the the shoulder came out of its socket or the arm came out of its shoulder socket.

Speaker 0

你知道,骨头之间是靠球窝结构连接的。

You know, the bones are connected with ball and socket ball and socket.

Speaker 0

比如拿腿来说,腿是怎么连到髋关节上的。

So for let's take just a simple one like your leg, the way your leg is attached to your, what do you call it, your hip.

Speaker 0

明白吗?

Okay?

Speaker 0

腿骨的末端是个球状结构,正好嵌在髋骨的窝里,对吧?

So the the leg the end of the bone, there's a ball and that fits into a socket in in your hip, right?

Speaker 0

所以就是球窝结构。

So ball and socket.

Speaker 0

如果球从窝里脱出来,出了严重事故,那就是脱臼了,胳膊脱臼了,肩膀脱臼了。

Now if the socket if the ball comes out of the socket and you have a terrible accident, that means that you've dislocated it, you've dislocated your arm, dislocated your shoulder.

Speaker 0

肩膀是身体里最容易脱臼的部位之一。

The shoulder is one of the most common parts of the body to be dislocated.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

事实上,你们当中可能有人以前就脱过臼。

In fact, some of you may have had dislocated shoulders in the past.

Speaker 0

手指也很容易脱臼。

You can dislocate your fingers as well quite easily too.

Speaker 0

另一种说法是,我的胳膊从 socket 里弹出来了。

Another way to say it is my arm popped out of its socket.

Speaker 0

胳膊从 socket 里弹出来了,简单说就是胳膊直接从窝里滑了出来。

The arm popped out of its socket, which is basically, if you can imagine the arm went and just came out of the socket.

Speaker 0

我敢打赌,实际情况没那么轻松友好,也没那么轻松自在。

I'm sure it wasn't as fun and and friendly and sounding as that.

Speaker 0

我觉得事情不是这样的。

I don't think that's what happened.

Speaker 1

我觉得

I think

Speaker 0

更可能是这样,那声音大概就是这样的。

it was probably more like, that's that's probably the sound it made.

Speaker 0

不过想象我哥哥从滑板上摔下来,胳膊咔哒一声弹出来,还挺可爱的。

But it's quite cute to imagine that my brother fell off his skateboard and his arm went like that.

Speaker 0

但我肯定,实际要疼得多,也严重得多。

But I'm sure it was a lot more painful and serious than that.

Speaker 0

但我的胳膊确实从关节里脱出来了。

But my arm popped out of its socket.

Speaker 0

明白了。

Okay.

Speaker 0

它就脱臼了。

It popped out.

Speaker 0

他说他感觉有点疲惫,我想这个词最合适。

He said, I feel a bit sort of run down, I suppose would be the word.

Speaker 0

我感觉有点疲惫。

I feel a bit run down.

Speaker 0

如果你觉得疲惫,那就是说你累了,有点精疲力尽,没平时那么有精神。

If you feel run down, it means you feel tired, you feel a bit exhausted, you don't have the full energy that you normally have.

Speaker 0

比如,如果你最近工作特别忙,或者感冒了,就可能会觉得特别累。

So if, for example, you've been working really hard recently or if you're if you're suffering from a cold, you might feel a bit run down.

Speaker 0

其实就是特别累的意思。

Just means very tired, basically.

Speaker 0

累,而且没力气。

Tired and low on energy.

Speaker 0

我感觉有点疲惫。

I feel a bit run down.

Speaker 0

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 0

他说,他有点累,浑身酸痛。

He said, I feel a bit tired and achy.

Speaker 0

我有点浑身酸痛。

I feel a bit achy.

Speaker 0

嗯,酸痛算是一种疼痛,对吧?

Well, an ache is a kind of pain, isn't it?

Speaker 0

比如头痛、胃痛之类的。

You know, like headache, stomach ache.

Speaker 0

我有点累,浑身酸痛。

I feel a bit tired and achy.

Speaker 0

我猜他肩膀、背部和手臂周围的地方,肌肉应该都在疼。

I imagine that the area around his shoulder, around his back and his arm, and the muscles are probably aching.

Speaker 0

所以我有点浑身酸痛。

So I feel a bit achy.

Speaker 0

好了。

There you go.

Speaker 0

接下来剧情里,外面有点吵,我哥哥就问:‘我关下窗你介意吗?’

Then what happened in the episode is that there was some noise going on, and my brother said, do you mind if I just close the window?

Speaker 0

然后他砰地一声把窗关上了。

And he closed the window loudly.

Speaker 0

那就是我哥哥关门的方式,声音特别响。

It went bang like that, which is just my brother's way of closing a window.

Speaker 0

估计比听起来还要大得多。

It probably was a lot louder.

Speaker 0

就是听起来特别响。

It just sounded loud.

Speaker 0

他说了声‘对不起’。

And he said, sorry.

Speaker 0

那个讨厌的房东又把花园当垃圾场用了,跟往常一样。

It's just the twatty landlord using the garden as some sort of rubbish tip as usual.

Speaker 0

所以这么说的话,他的房东大概是把东西扔到花园里,可能是把一些木头或者其他从家里清理出来的杂物都堆在那里。

So I suppose what this means is that his landlord was sort of discarding things into the garden, maybe using the garden as a place to throw away some bits of wood or other things that he's discarding from his house.

Speaker 0

意思是房东真的把东西直接往花园里扔,当作垃圾处理吗?

Does this mean that the landlord is is literally throwing things into the garden as a way of disposing them?

Speaker 0

有可能吧。

Maybe.

Speaker 0

也可能只是房东在楼下我哥哥公寓下面搞装修,把从屋里清出来的废料暂时堆在花园里,等会儿再运走。

Maybe it just means that the landlord is doing some work on his house below my brother's apartment and he's all of the stuff that he's getting out of the house, all of the waste and everything he's just throwing into the garden temporarily before then disposing of it somewhere else.

Speaker 0

但很可能,只是弄出点动静而已。

But probably, it was just making noise.

Speaker 0

这个讨厌的房东。

So the twatty landlord.

Speaker 0

‘twat’是个脏话。

Well, a twat is a swear word.

Speaker 0

挺难听的一个词。

It's quite a rude word.

Speaker 0

这不算太严重。

It's not very serious.

Speaker 0

算是个挺轻的脏话。

It's quite a low level swear word.

Speaker 0

那个讨厌的房东。

The twatty landlord.

Speaker 0

我现在得小心点,要是我兄弟的房东听了这个,他肯定会觉得被冒犯了,因为我兄弟叫他‘混蛋’。

Now I've got to be careful here because if my brother's landlord listens to this, then then he's gonna feel offended that my brother referred to him as a twat.

Speaker 0

不过,房东先生或房东太太,如果您在听的话,我想解释一下,我兄弟其实不是真心这么想的。

But mister landlord or missus land landlady, if you are listening to this, then can I just explain that my brother didn't really mean it?

Speaker 0

他只是因为太烦了才这么说的。

He's just saying it because it was frustrating him.

Speaker 0

那噪音在播客里让他特别恼火。

The noise was was annoying him on the podcast.

Speaker 0

他并不是真这么认为的。

He doesn't really mean it.

Speaker 0

而且他刚脱臼了肩膀,现在情绪有点敏感。

And anyway, he he just dislocated his shoulder, so he's feeling a bit sensitive at the moment.

Speaker 0

他真不是觉得你是个混蛋。

He doesn't really think you're a twat.

Speaker 0

我肯定他没那个意思。

I'm sure he doesn't.

Speaker 0

我弟弟一烦躁就爱这样说话。

He just tends to react like that when he's feeling a bit irritable, my brother.

Speaker 0

你别往心里去啊。

So don't take it personally.

Speaker 0

明白吗?

Okay?

Speaker 0

反正他就是说了个‘讨厌的房东’。

Anyway, the twatty landlord is what he said.

Speaker 0

说他把花园当垃圾场用了。

Using the garden as some sort of rubbish tip.

Speaker 0

垃圾场就是扔垃圾的地方,你知道的,就是一大堆垃圾堆在那里。

A rubbish tip is a place where rubbish gets discarded, you know, like a big pile of rubbish.

Speaker 0

通常垃圾场都在城镇边上,你开车把垃圾放在车后头,开到那儿,打开后备箱,把垃圾全倒进去。

Usually, the rubbish tip will be on the edge of the town somewhere and you drive out with all the rubbish in the back of your car and you open up the back of the car and you throw out all the rubbish onto the tip.

Speaker 0

明白吗?

Okay?

Speaker 0

垃圾场。

Rubbish tip.

Speaker 0

接下来,我滑的是那种像长条水泥台子的东西。

Next, I was skating us I was skating a block sort of bar thing.

Speaker 0

他滑的是个水泥台子。

He was skating a block.

Speaker 0

水泥台子就是那种长方形的混凝土结构,滑板爱好者常在上面做动作,你知道的。

A block is just like a rectangular like a rectangular piece of concrete that skateboarders do tricks on, you know.

Speaker 0

但他刚说啥?

But he I said, what?

Speaker 0

你是在那个平台上滑板?

You were skating on a block?

Speaker 0

他说不是。

And he said, no.

Speaker 0

不是。

No.

Speaker 0

我是沿着那个平台滑的。

I was skating the block.

Speaker 0

我觉得这对滑板手来说差别挺重要的。

So I think the difference is quite important if you're a skater.

Speaker 0

滑一个平台和在平台上滑,听起来是两回事。

Skating a block and skating on a block apparently is different.

Speaker 0

我觉得区别在于,如果你是在平台上滑,那就是你直接在平台上面做动作。

I think the difference is that if you're skating on a block, it means that you are on top of the block and you're doing tricks on top of the block.

Speaker 0

但如果说滑一个平台,那其实是你主要在地面上滑,偶尔才跳上平台做个小技巧。

But skating the block means that you are actually on the ground, and every now and then you you jump onto the block to do a trick on it.

Speaker 0

但大多数时候,你还是在地面上滑。

But most of the time, you're on the ground.

Speaker 0

明白了。

Okay.

Speaker 0

这是滑板圈里的说法。

It's a skateboarding thing.

Speaker 0

如果你是滑板手,这些细节可很重要。

The details are are important if you're a skater.

Speaker 0

他说他当时在上面做板滑,但老是卡住。

He said, I was doing a board slide on it, but it kept sticking.

Speaker 0

板滑。

A board slide.

Speaker 0

嗯,懂了。

Okay.

Speaker 0

你肯定看过不少滑板视频。

You've seen skateboarding videos.

Speaker 0

你们当中有些人可能自己也滑滑板。

Some of you might be you might skate yourselves.

Speaker 0

板滑是指你骑着滑板冲上某个物体。

A board slide is when you come up to an object on your skateboard.

Speaker 0

可能是块石头。

It could be a block.

Speaker 0

也可能是路边的路缘石。

It could be just a curb on the side of the road.

Speaker 0

路缘石就是路面和马路交界处的那条混凝土边缘。

The curb is the concrete bit where the pavement meets the road.

Speaker 0

那儿有一块厚厚的石头或混凝土,滑板爱好者特别喜欢在路缘石上做动作。

It's a there's like a thick piece of stone or concrete and skateboarders like to do tricks on the curb.

Speaker 0

明白吗?

Okay?

Speaker 0

就是路缘石。

The curb.

Speaker 0

过马路的时候要是被绊了一跤,很可能是因为脚撞到了路缘。

If you're crossing the street and you've you you you trip up on when you're crossing the street, it might be because you hit your foot on the curb.

Speaker 0

对。

Okay.

Speaker 0

路缘。

The curb.

Speaker 0

如果你做板滑,就是骑着滑板冲向路缘或者路障,然后转个身,让板子在脚底下沿着边缘滑行。

So if you do a board slide, it means that you you come up to the curb or come up to a block and you turn and you slide the board along while you're standing on it.

Speaker 0

让板子底部、轮子之间的部分贴着路缘或路障滑过去,滑完之后再继续用轮子前进。

So that the underside of the board between the wheels is sliding along the block or the curb and you slide along and then you you carry on using the wheels.

Speaker 0

明白吗?

Right?

Speaker 0

这就叫板滑。

That's a board slide.

Speaker 0

这是一种特技动作。

It's a kind of trick.

Speaker 0

所以他当时在那个路缘上做板滑,但板老是卡住。

So he was doing a board slide on this block, but it kept sticking.

Speaker 0

也就是说,板子滑得不太顺。

So that means that the board wasn't sliding very well.

Speaker 0

板子老是停住或卡住,他不断摔下来,这通常说明要么表面不够光滑,要么他速度不够快。

The board kept sort of stopping or sticking and he kept falling off, which usually suggests that a either a, the the surface is not slidey enough, it's not slippery enough, or that b, he's you're not going fast enough.

Speaker 0

因为如果你滑板的速度够快,基本上什么都能滑过去。

Because if you go fast enough on a skateboard, you can kinda you can you can slide along anything.

Speaker 0

我觉得我哥哥加速试了一次,但这次还是摔了。

So I think my brother sped up and did it again, but this time he came off.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

他说他身体往后仰得更多了。

And he said, I lent back a little bit more.

Speaker 0

那到底是谁后仰得太厉害了?

So who's leaning back too much?

Speaker 0

你知道什么叫倾斜吧?

To lean, you know what that is, don't you?

Speaker 0

你知道的,在意大利有个地方叫比萨,那儿有座比萨斜塔。

You know, in in Italy, they have that place called Pisa and they have they have the Leaning Tower Of Pisa.

Speaker 0

明白吗?

Okay?

Speaker 0

那就是倾斜。

That's leaning.

Speaker 0

就是不是直着站,而是往一边歪着。

It just means sort of not standing straight, but standing to one side.

Speaker 0

所以他当时是往后仰了。

So he was leaning back.

Speaker 0

你可以想象,做这个动作的时候身子往后倾。

You'd imagine just sort of leaning back while doing the trick.

Speaker 0

他说,从坡上滑下来的时候,我落地是稳的,只是稍微压在了板尾上。

And he said, as I was coming off the block, I landed fine but slightly on the tail of the board.

Speaker 0

所以他落地的时候,体重没均匀分布。

So he didn't land perfectly with his weight distributed properly.

Speaker 0

他的大部分体重都压在了板尾上。

He landed with a lot of his weight on the back, on the tail of the board.

Speaker 0

这就导致他有点失去平衡。

And this meant that he was slightly off balance off balance.

Speaker 0

我们不说‘on balance’这种说法。

We don't say on balance.

Speaker 0

实际上,我们不用这个词来表示体重分布均匀。

We don't actually say that to mean that your weight is distributed properly.

Speaker 0

如果说你有点失去平衡,那就是说你的重心没放好,可能会摔倒。

But if you're slightly off balance, it means that your, you know, your your weight isn't properly distributed and it you might fall over.

Speaker 0

明白吗?

Okay?

Speaker 0

比如你在船上,船左右晃动,你端着一托盘饮料走过去,肯定会很难,因为你根本站不稳。

For example, if you're on a boat and the boat is moving from side to side and you try and walk across the boat with a tray of drinks, then it's gonna be difficult because you're really off balance.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

所以他完成了板面滑行。

So he was he'd he'd done the board slide.

Speaker 0

他身体往后仰得更多了。

He was leaning back a bit more.

Speaker 0

他落地了,但体重全压在了板尾,导致他有点失去平衡。

He landed, but he he was his weight was on the tail of the board, and that meant that he was slightly off balance.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

记住这些表达方式。

Try and remember these expressions.

Speaker 0

明白吗?

Alright?

Speaker 0

失去平衡、感觉疲惫、浑身酸痛、糟糕透顶,还有往后仰、往前倾、往侧面歪,以及失去平衡。

Off balance and to feel a bit run down, to feel achy, a rubbish tip, you know, to lean back, lean forwards, lean to the side, and to to be off balance.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

所以他当时因为要摔倒,就伸手撑地想稳住自己。

So what he did was he put his because he was falling, he put his hand down to stop himself falling.

Speaker 0

他说:我伸手撑地想阻止自己摔倒,可还是继续滑了出去。

He said, I put my hand down to stop myself falling, but I carried on sliding out.

Speaker 0

你可以想象一下,他的手撑在地上没动,但身体的重量却继续往前冲,同时人还在往下倒。

So if you can imagine, his hand was on the floor, not moving, but his body weight was carrying him forwards, and yet he was also falling down.

Speaker 0

所以他提到,脚突然从身下滑了出去,手臂往后伸得过头,整个人重重地砸在了地上。

So he said, my feet slid underneath me, and I overextended my arm behind my head and kind of slammed down on my body.

Speaker 0

我的体重全压在了手臂上。

My weight came down on my arm.

Speaker 0

明白了。

Alright.

Speaker 0

伸手撑地想阻止自己摔倒,可还是继续滑了出去。

Put my hand down to stop myself falling, but I carried on sliding out.

Speaker 0

我的脚从身下滑了出去。

My feet slid underneath me.

Speaker 0

滑了。

Slid.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

这个动词是 slide。

The verb is slide.

Speaker 0

所以是 slide,slid,slid。

So slide, slid, slid.

Speaker 0

我的脚从身下滑了出去,手臂还往后伸到了头后面。

My feet slid underneath me, and I overextended my arm behind my head.

Speaker 0

伸展手臂就是把胳膊往身体外侧伸,拉到最大限度。

To extend your arm means that you move your arm out away from your body so that it's stretching out.

Speaker 0

明白吗?

Okay?

Speaker 0

如果你把手举起来,比如做瑜伽的时候,就是把双手向上伸展。

If you put your hands in the air, if you're doing yoga, you extend your your hands up.

Speaker 0

在这种情况下,他的身体往后倒,手撑在地上,但身体继续往前滑,手臂被强行向后拉到头顶上方。

And in this case, his body had fallen for his was leaning back and his hand fell on the floor and his body kept sliding forwards and his arm overextended all the way back over his head.

Speaker 0

你可以想象一下,如果你自己试着把胳膊伸到脑后,总会有一个极限点,再往后就动不了了。

And you can imagine that, you know, if you try and do it with your arm, if you try and extend your arm behind your head, there's a point where it stops.

Speaker 0

那想象一下,如果胳膊被强迫继续往后拉呢?

Well, imagine if you if the arm was forced to continue.

Speaker 0

比如你摔倒了,全身的重量都压在手臂上,把它往回拽,会怎么样?

If it was forced because maybe you'd fallen, you know, and all your body weight was pushing it back.

Speaker 0

结果会怎样?

What's gonna happen?

Speaker 0

关节就会脱臼。

It's gonna go and come out of its socket.

Speaker 0

所以我当时手臂向后过度伸展,整个人重重地砸了下来。

So he overextend I overextended my arm behind my head and kind of slammed down on my body.

Speaker 0

就这么猛地砸下来。

Slammed down like that.

Speaker 0

我的体重压在手臂上,他说我立刻跳了起来,感觉特别怪异。

My weight came down on my arm, and he he said, I immediately jumped up and it felt really really weird.

Speaker 0

天哪。

Wow.

Speaker 0

他一定身体素质很好。

He's quite he must be quite physically fit.

Speaker 0

我觉得滑板对他挺有帮助的,至少能让他马上跳起来,但那感觉真的特别奇怪。

I think skateboarding's probably quite good for him because he it allowed him to jump up immediately, and it felt really, really weird.

Speaker 0

据说一开始并不疼。

Apparently, it wasn't painful at the beginning.

Speaker 0

就是觉得不对劲。

It just felt strange.

Speaker 0

我能想象,要是胳膊脱臼了,肯定感觉特别古怪。

I can imagine if your if your arm has popped out of its socket, it's gonna feel pretty strange.

Speaker 0

感觉肯定不会正常。

It's not gonna feel normal.

Speaker 0

他说,我感觉到肩胛骨那里有个平台似的停住了。

He said, I felt a shelf where the shoulder blade stopped.

Speaker 0

我觉得他这里说的不是肩胛骨。

I don't think he means shoulder blade here.

Speaker 0

他应该说的是锁骨,我觉得。

He's actually talking about the collarbone, I think.

Speaker 0

明白了。

Alright.

Speaker 0

我来给你简单讲讲手臂和肩膀周围骨骼的生理结构。

Let me try and tell you a little bit about the physiology in the bones around the arm and the shoulder.

Speaker 0

我会尽量只用语言来解释清楚。

I'm gonna try and explain this to you just using words.

Speaker 0

如果这是个视频,我能用手比划着肩膀给你看,那会简单得多,但现在我只能靠嘴说了。

It it would be much easier if I could just show you if this was a video and I could just show you with my finger using my shoulder, but I'm gonna have to try and explain it.

展开剩余字幕(还有 480 条)
Speaker 0

这就是音频带来的挑战,而我正好喜欢挑战。

These are the challenges of audio, and I like a challenge.

Speaker 0

好。

Alright.

Speaker 0

你先想想你的肩膀。

So you got your shoulder.

Speaker 0

明白吗?

Right?

Speaker 0

肩膀的顶部。

The top of the shoulder.

Speaker 0

想象一下,假设你要在肩膀上扛点东西。

Imagine, let's say, imagine you had to carry something on your shoulder.

Speaker 0

比如扛个孩子,或者扛一袋很重的大米,得放在肩膀上。

Let's say you've got like a child on your shoulder or you're carrying a heavy bag of rice and you've got to put it on your shoulder.

Speaker 0

明白吗?

Right?

Speaker 0

你肩膀上这个部位的骨头叫锁骨。

That part of your shoulder there, that bone is called the collarbone.

Speaker 0

明白吗?

Alright?

Speaker 0

锁骨就是横在肩膀顶端的那根骨头。

The collarbone, it goes across the top of your shoulder.

Speaker 0

这根骨头特别容易断。

That's very easy to break.

Speaker 0

很多人都会摔断锁骨。

People break the collarbone all the time.

Speaker 0

断了这根骨头肯定疼得厉害。

It must be very painful to break that bone.

Speaker 0

所以我猜我哥哥说的就是锁骨。

So I think my brother's talking about the collarbone.

Speaker 0

他不是在说肩胛骨。

He's not talking about the shoulder blade.

Speaker 0

也许我弄错了。

Maybe I'm wrong.

Speaker 0

我可能搞错了。

I might be wrong.

Speaker 0

但不管怎样,这其实不重要。

But anyway, it doesn't matter.

Speaker 0

最重要的是,你要分得清锁骨和肩胛骨。

The main thing is that you need to know what a collarbone is and what a shoulder blade is.

Speaker 0

所以你知道锁骨是什么了。

So you know what the collarbone is.

Speaker 0

就是那根横在肩膀上方的骨头。

It's the bone that goes across the top of the shoulder.

Speaker 0

肩胛骨,对吧。

The shoulder blade right.

Speaker 0

我该怎么解释这个呢?

How am I gonna explain that?

Speaker 0

它在后面,环绕着整个区域。

It goes around it's it's at the back.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

就是你肩膀的后侧。

The back of your shoulder.

Speaker 0

想象一下,如果你长了一对翅膀,翅膀会长在哪儿?

And imagine if you had a pair of wings, where would your wings go?

Speaker 0

它们大概会连在你的肩胛骨上。

Well, they kind of they'd probably be attached to your shoulder blades.

Speaker 0

当你把胳膊往前伸的时候,我是不是该解释一下肩胛骨是什么?

If you move your arms forward am I gonna explain what shoulder blades are?

Speaker 0

简单说,后背上方有两块骨头,当你往前伸手或者转动胳膊时,它们会凸出来。

Basically, at the top of your back, there are bones that can stick out if you move your arms forward or if you move your arms around.

Speaker 0

这两块骨头就在你后背的上端凸出来。

These like bones stick out of your back at the top.

Speaker 0

那就是你的肩胛骨。

Those are your shoulder blades.

Speaker 0

明白了吗?

Alright?

Speaker 0

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 0

没问题。

Fine.

Speaker 0

他说他感觉到肩胛骨末端像有个平台,接着有两英寸的空隙,然后才是手臂。

So he says that he felt a shelf where the shoulder blade stopped, and then there was a two inch gap and then the arm.

Speaker 0

因为手臂脱出了关节,所以中间出现了一段空隙。

So because the arm had come out of his socket, there was like a gap.

Speaker 0

我觉得他不是说肩胛骨或者后背上有空隙。

I don't think he means a gap at the shoulder blade or on his back.

Speaker 0

他是想说锁骨和手臂之间有一段空隙。

I think he means a gap between the collarbone and the arm.

Speaker 0

所以,你的锁骨末端、肩膀的边缘,其实就是手臂开始的地方。

So the the edge the the edge the corner of your shoulder where the collarbone ends, basically, is where your arm begins.

Speaker 0

这两者之间是完全连贯的。

And there's it's seamless.

Speaker 0

那里不应该有缝隙。

There's no gap there.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

如果有缝隙,那就说明有问题。

There shouldn't be a gap.

Speaker 0

如果你现在摸着胳膊,感觉到中间有空隙,那肯定出问题了。

If there's a gap, if you're feeling your arm now and there's a gap there, then there's a problem.

Speaker 0

明白吗?

Okay?

Speaker 0

这可能意味着你的胳膊脱臼了,你知道的。

It might mean that your arm is is come out of its socket, you know.

Speaker 0

总之,我哥哥感觉到肩膀那里有个台阶似的凸起,像是有个凹陷。

So anyway, but my brother felt a shelf, you know, a shelf like a sort of step down, a gap.

Speaker 0

为什么会这样?

Why?

Speaker 0

因为他肩膀脱臼了,就是这个原因。

Because his arm had come out of his socket, that's why.

Speaker 0

两英寸的缝隙,这已经算挺大的了。

So a two inch gap, two inches is quite big.

Speaker 0

两英寸嘛,咱们算一下。

Two inches is well, let's see.

Speaker 0

一英尺等于十二英寸。

12 inches in one foot.

Speaker 0

三十厘米大约是十二英寸。

There's 12 inches in 30 centimeters.

Speaker 0

亲爱的,一英寸是多少厘米?

Dear, how big is an inch in centimeters?

Speaker 0

这事儿挺复杂的。

This is complicated.

Speaker 0

在英国特别麻烦,因为我们同时用英制单位比如英寸,也用公制单位。

It's complicated in The UK because we have imperial measurements like inches and we have the metric system as well.

Speaker 0

大概五厘米多,快到六厘米了。

It's about five it's it's nearly six centimeters.

Speaker 0

明白吗?

Okay?

Speaker 0

两英寸差不多就是六厘米。

Two inches is about six centimeters.

Speaker 0

所以他的肩膀、锁骨和手臂之间有个六厘米的空隙。

So there's a six centimeter gap between his shoulder his collarbone and his arm.

Speaker 0

行了。

Fine.

Speaker 0

他说,那时候他就知道自己的肩膀脱臼了。

And he said, I knew at that point that I dislocated my shoulder.

Speaker 0

我在这儿记下这一句,是因为值得注意,他在这里用了过去完成时。

And I wrote that one there because it's interesting to note that he uses past perfect tense there.

Speaker 0

就在那一刻,我知道自己脱臼了。

I knew at that point that I dislocated my shoulder.

Speaker 0

我之前已经脱臼了。

I had dislocated my shoulder.

Speaker 0

其实这里并不明显能看出用了过去完成时。

It's not clear that past perfect is being used there.

Speaker 0

为什么呢?

Why?

Speaker 0

因为‘had’里的‘had’几乎听不见了。

Because the had almost disappears.

Speaker 0

我脱臼了。

I dislocated my shoulder.

Speaker 0

首先,‘dislocated’开头的‘d’,和‘I’d’里的‘d’是同一个音。

First of all, the d at the beginning of dislocated means that the d of had, I'd, the d that you get in I'd.

Speaker 0

它们连在一起了。

They link together.

Speaker 0

它们是怎么连在一起的?

How do they link together?

Speaker 0

简单来说,它们合成了一个/d/音。

Basically, they combine to create one d sound.

Speaker 0

所以不是说 'I'd dislocated my shoulder',而是直接说 'I dislocated my shoulder'。

So instead of I'd dislocated my shoulder, it's I dislocated my shoulder.

Speaker 0

你能听出来吗?

Can you hear that?

Speaker 0

有三种说法。

Three ways of saying it.

Speaker 0

你可以把每个词都清清楚楚地念出来。

You could say it with all the words completely pronounced.

Speaker 0

你可以说 'I had dislocated my shoulder',或者说 'I'd dislocated my shoulder',也可以很流利地说成 'I dislocated my shoulder'。

I had dislocated my shoulder or I'd dislocated my shoulder or very fluently, I dislocated my shoulder.

Speaker 0

所以这简直就像一种看不见的时态?

So it's almost like an invisible tense tense tense?

Speaker 0

时态到底是什么?

What's a what's a tense?

Speaker 0

肖恩·康纳利突然附身了。

Sean Connery just invaded my personality.

Speaker 0

其实就是一种看不见的时态。

It's basically an invisible tense.

Speaker 0

不是的。

No.

Speaker 0

是看不见的时态,肖恩。

It's an invisible tense, Sean.

Speaker 0

瞧,肖恩·康纳利又来了。

Sean Connery there.

Speaker 0

要是肖恩·康纳利当你的英语老师,那该多带劲。

Imagine if Sean Connery was your English teacher, that would be exciting.

Speaker 0

各位女士们、先生们,大家好。

Hello ladies and gentlemen.

Speaker 0

我叫007,今天我要教你们一些英语。

My name is o o seven and today I will be teaching some of you English.

Speaker 0

我会和一部分人亲密接触,然后解决掉剩下的,因为这就是我的工作。

I'll be having sex with some of you and killing the rest of you because that's my job.

Speaker 0

来吧,邦德先生,你教英语的快感一点不比我少。

Come come mister Bond, you derive as much pleasure from teaching English as I do.

Speaker 0

总之,没错。

Anyway, right.

Speaker 0

那时候我就知道,我的肩膀脱臼了。

So I I knew at that point that I'd dislocated my shoulder.

Speaker 0

好吧。

Fine.

Speaker 0

我脱臼了,那玩意儿像个幽灵,我之前管它叫什么来着?

I dislocated it's it's a ghost what what did I call it before?

Speaker 0

幽灵英语?忍者词汇?

Ghost English, ninja words?

Speaker 0

幽灵词。

Ghost words.

Speaker 0

好吧。

Alright.

Speaker 0

关于发音的那些内容,我留到下一期再讲。

I'll come back to that stuff about pronunciation in another episode.

Speaker 0

一开始,一点感觉都没有。

To start with, there wasn't any pain.

Speaker 0

后来才开始疼。

The pain came in.

Speaker 0

几分钟后,疼痛才出现。

The pain came a few minutes in.

Speaker 0

这还挺简单的。

That's that's pretty easy.

Speaker 0

我平时不会因为自找的伤叫救护车。

I don't normally get an ambulance for a self inflicted injury.

Speaker 0

自找的。

Self inflicted.

Speaker 0

如果一件事是自找的,那就是你自己干的。

If something is self inflicted, it means that you you do it to yourself.

Speaker 0

自找的伤害。

Self inflicted injury.

Speaker 0

明白了。

Okay.

Speaker 0

有时候人们会说,哎呀,我今天宿醉得厉害。

Sometimes people say things like, oh, I've got I've got a terrible hangover today.

Speaker 0

别人就会回,我可不心疼你,这可是你自找的。

And the person would say, well, I'm not not giving you any sympathy because it's self inflicted.

Speaker 0

明白了吧?

Okay?

Speaker 0

宿醉是自己造成的,对吧?

A hangover is self inflicted, isn't it?

Speaker 0

因为你选择喝酒,结果得了宿醉,这当然是自己惹的。

Because you choose to drink and then the result hangover is self inflicted.

Speaker 0

这次是受伤,但也是自己造成的伤害。

In this case, an injury, it was a self inflicted injury.

Speaker 0

嗯,我想是这样的,詹姆斯。

Well, I suppose so, James.

Speaker 0

不过,我也觉得是这样。

But, yeah, I suppose so.

Speaker 0

他不是故意的。

He didn't do it on purpose.

Speaker 0

他把这称作自己造成的伤害。

He calls it a self inflicted injury.

Speaker 0

我想是因为这不怪别人吧。

I suppose because it wasn't anyone else's fault.

Speaker 0

这完全是他的错。

It was just his fault.

Speaker 0

但这么做还真是挺低调的。

But that's quite that's quite a modest thing to do.

Speaker 0

根本不需要叫救护车。

It's like, no no need for an ambulance.

Speaker 0

这都是我的错。

It was my fault.

Speaker 0

这充分体现了他多么有社会责任感。

It just shows what a civically minded person he is.

Speaker 0

他不想让救护车浪费时间来接他,而本可以去救别人的生命。

He doesn't want the ambulance service to waste their time picking him up when they could be saving someone else's life.

Speaker 0

这话说得有道理。

It's a good point.

Speaker 0

他真是个好人。

What a good person he is.

Speaker 0

这是自找的。

Self inflicted.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

这话说得真贴切,自作自受的伤。

There's a phrase for you, a self inflicted injury.

Speaker 0

他说,我平时去急诊都是坐公交或打车,但这次实在动不了,觉得非得叫救护车不可。

He said, I normally get a bus or a taxi to A and E, but this time I thought it warranted it because I couldn't move at all.

Speaker 0

我平时去急诊都是坐公交或打车。

I normally get a bus or a taxi to A and E.

Speaker 0

这话可不是咱们每天都会说的,对吧?

That's not a phrase that all of us use on our daily basis, is it?

Speaker 0

我平时去急诊都是坐公交或打车。

I normally get a bus or taxi to A and E.

Speaker 0

嗯,确实不是。

Well, no.

Speaker 0

我想咱们平时也不会天天脱臼吧?

I suppose we don't dislocate our shoulders every day, do we?

Speaker 0

我就不曾。

I don't.

Speaker 0

不过呢,也许你经常这样。

Anyway, maybe you do.

Speaker 0

如果你真这么干过,天哪。

If you do, then you know, god.

Speaker 0

你到底在干什么?

What what what are you doing?

Speaker 0

你这是在对自己做什么?

What are you doing to yourself?

Speaker 0

你是特技演员吗?

Are you a stuntman?

Speaker 0

说不定你真是特技演员。

Maybe you're a stuntman.

Speaker 0

我不禁想,有多少特技演员在听这个节目。

I wonder how many stuntmen are listening to this.

Speaker 0

如果你是特技演员,你就明白特技演员是怎么回事。

If you are a stuntman, you know what stuntman is.

Speaker 0

就是那些在电影里替演员做危险动作的人,因为演员自己不想做,或者万一受伤了,制片方损失太大。

Those are those guys in movies who do all of the dangerous things that the actors don't wanna do or can't do because, you know, the the studio would lose too much money if they got injured.

Speaker 0

特技演员。

Stuntman.

Speaker 0

我猜特技演员脱臼肯定是家常便饭,毕竟他们干的就是这行,对吧?

I expect stuntmen dislocate their shoulders all the time because that's what the that's what stuntmen do, isn't it?

Speaker 0

不过我平时去急诊室,一般坐公交或者打车。

Anyway, I normally get a bus or taxi to A and E.

Speaker 0

急诊室是什么?

What's A and E?

Speaker 0

急诊室。

A and E.

Speaker 0

就是急诊科啊。

Well, it's accident and emergency.

Speaker 0

就是医院里处理意外伤害或紧急情况的地方。

It's basically the part of the hospital where you go if you've had an accident or if there's an emergency.

Speaker 0

明白了。

Okay.

Speaker 0

A和E。

A and e.

Speaker 0

A E。

A e.

Speaker 0

A和E。

A and e.

Speaker 0

你能说一遍吗?

Can you say it?

Speaker 0

我平时坐公交或打车去急诊科,但这次我觉得真得去一趟。

I normally get a bus or taxi to a and e, but this time I thought it warranted it.

Speaker 0

如果某件事值得做,那就是说它配得上这么做,或者这么说才合适。

If something warrants something, it basically it it deserves it or it's appropriate.

Speaker 0

明白吗?

Okay?

Speaker 0

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 0

这事确实值得这么做。

It warranted it.

Speaker 0

这么做才是合适的。

It's it's it was appropriate for it.

Speaker 0

这才是恰当的处理方式。

It was the the appropriate level.

Speaker 0

明白吗?

Okay?

Speaker 0

这事确实值得这么做。

It warranted it.

Speaker 0

可能伤得挺严重,所以叫救护车是应该的。

Maybe it's quite serious injury, so it warranted an ambulance journey.

Speaker 0

明白吗?

Okay?

Speaker 0

也就是说,这事值得这么处理。

So it's like it deserved it.

Speaker 0

这种情况确实合适这么办。

It was an appropriate occasion.

Speaker 0

伤得够重,必须用救护车送医院。

It was serious enough to be taken to hospital by by ambulance.

Speaker 0

我完全动不了。

I couldn't move at all.

Speaker 0

好的。

Alright.

Speaker 0

那是极度的肌肉疼痛。

It was extreme muscular pain.

Speaker 0

肌肉的

Muscular.

Speaker 0

我们的肌肉,大家都知道是什么。

So your muscles, we know what they are.

Speaker 0

去健身房的时候,我们都会努力锻炼肌肉。

We try and build our muscles when we go to the gym.

Speaker 0

肌肉和肌肉的,这个词就是用来形容肌肉的。

Muscles and muscular, that's the adjective that we associate with muscles.

Speaker 0

所以这里说的是剧烈的肌肉疼痛。

So here we have extreme muscular pain.

Speaker 0

明白了。

Alright.

Speaker 0

肌肉。

Muscles.

Speaker 0

我们也会吃肌肉,对吧?

We also eat muscles, don't we?

Speaker 0

我的意思是,不是那种僵尸之类的,当然不是。

I mean, not like not like a zombie or something, But no.

Speaker 0

我是说,贻贝。

I mean, I'm talking about mussels.

Speaker 0

它们也是一种海鲜。

They're also a kind of seafood.

Speaker 0

去海边的时候,你可能会吃贻贝。

If you go to the seaside, you might eat mussels.

Speaker 0

它们是黑色的贝类,里面肉是橙色的,长在肌肉里。

They're like black shellfish and they have orange flesh inside muscles.

Speaker 0

很好吃。

Delicious.

Speaker 0

不过,我说的剧烈肌肉疼痛,是指像韧带撕裂或脚踝扭伤那种。

Anyway, I it was extreme muscular pain like when you tear ligaments or sprain an ankle.

Speaker 0

韧带撕裂或者脚踝扭伤。

Tear ligaments or sprain an ankle.

Speaker 0

好吧。

Alright.

Speaker 0

韧带是什么东西?

Ligaments, what are they?

Speaker 0

韧带嘛,就是那样。

Ligaments are okay.

Speaker 0

如果你有一块肌肉,那肌肉是连在骨头上的。

If you got a muscle, the muscle is attached to a bone.

Speaker 0

明白吗?

Okay?

Speaker 0

韧带就是那种把肌肉连到骨头上的结构。

And ligaments are the sort of things that attach the muscle to a bone.

Speaker 0

好,我们有韧带,还有肌腱。

Alright, we have ligaments and we have tendons.

Speaker 0

肌腱和韧带有什么区别?

What's the difference between a tendon and a ligament?

Speaker 0

你可以想象一下,有一根骨头,肌肉长在骨头上面,而且这肌肉还连着另一根骨头。

So if you can imagine, right, you've got a bone just imagine a bone, and there's a muscle on the bone, and the muscle is attached to another bone.

Speaker 0

我们就拿你的手臂来打个比方。

Let's let's imagine your arm.

Speaker 0

你有肱二头肌。

You've got your bicep.

Speaker 0

那就是大臂上那块大肌肉,尤其是男性肌肉发达的时候。

That's the big muscle if you're a bloke and you're well built.

Speaker 0

就想象超人那样。

Imagine Superman.

Speaker 0

明白吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

就是他肘部前面那块特别明显的肌肉。

The big muscle on his arm before the elbow.

Speaker 0

清楚了吗?

Okay?

Speaker 0

就是胳膊上肘关节前面最大的那块肌肉。

You know, the biggest muscle before the elbow on on on the arm.

Speaker 0

如果你参加掰手腕,那块明显鼓起来的肌肉就是肱二头肌。

If you are doing an arm wrestle, it's the bicep which you can see really clearly.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

这就是肱二头肌。

So that's a bicep.

Speaker 0

肱二头肌附着在骨头上面,一端连着上面的骨头,另一端也连着下面的骨头。

The bicep is there on the bone, and the bicep is attached to the top of one bone, and it's attached to the the next bone as well.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

所以当肌肉收缩时,就会把胳膊拉起来。

So that when the the muscle flexes, when it contracts, it pulls the arm up.

Speaker 0

明白吗?

Okay?

Speaker 0

你明白我的意思吧?

You know what I mean?

Speaker 0

那肌肉是怎么连在骨头上的呢?

So how is the muscle attached to the bone?

Speaker 0

它是靠一些特别结实的纤维连接的,这些纤维叫肌腱,或者韧带。

It's attached by, like, strong muscle muscle fibers, which are called tendons or ligaments.

Speaker 0

肌腱和韧带其实是不一样的。

There is a difference between a tendon and a ligament.

Speaker 0

嗯,对。

Okay.

Speaker 0

它就像一根绳子,把肌肉和骨头拴在一起。

But that it's a bit like rope or string, which attaches a muscle to a bone.

Speaker 0

肌腱或韧带拉伤是很常见的。

It's very common to tear a ligament or tear a tendon.

Speaker 0

嗯,明白了。

Okay.

Speaker 0

韧带连接骨头和骨头。

Ligaments bind bone to bone.

Speaker 0

原来如此。

I see.

Speaker 0

对。

Right.

Speaker 0

韧带负责把骨头连在一起,而肌腱则是把肌肉连到骨头上的。

Ligaments are what attach bones to each other, and tendons are what attach muscles to bones.

Speaker 0

明白了吗?

Okay?

Speaker 0

比如,你的手上有很多韧带,把各个指骨连在一起,同时也有大量肌腱连接着肌肉和骨头。

So for example, you've got you've got lots of ligaments in your hand because they attach the different bones of your hand together and you've got lots of tendons attached to between muscles and bones.

Speaker 0

好的。

Alright.

Speaker 0

没问题。

Fine.

Speaker 0

好的。

Fine.

Speaker 0

好的。

Fine.

Speaker 0

好的。

Fine.

Speaker 0

所以如果你拉伤了韧带或者扭伤了肌肉,这也是一种损伤。

So if you if you tear a ligament or or pull a muscle, it's just another form of injury.

Speaker 0

足球运动员经常遇到这种情况。

Footballers experience this all the time.

Speaker 0

比如,如果你突然伸展手臂或腿太猛,可能不会骨折,但会伤到连接肌肉和骨头的肌腱或韧带。

It's for example, if you stretch an arm out or leg out too quickly, rather than breaking a leg, you might just injure the tendons or ligaments that attach the muscle to the bone.

Speaker 0

好的。

Fine.

Speaker 0

好,我们继续。

Okay, let's carry on.

Speaker 1

还有别的吗?

What else have we got?

Speaker 0

当你拉伤韧带或者扭伤脚踝的时候。

When you tear ligaments or sprain an ankle sprain an ankle.

Speaker 0

比如你跑步时不小心踩歪了脚,可能是在跑的时候脚陷进了地上的一个小坑里。

You know if you're running and you just sort of step on your ankles badly, maybe you're running and you put your foot in a small hole in the ground.

Speaker 0

你没把脚踝摔断,但还是伤到了。

You you don't break your ankle, but you injure it.

Speaker 0

脚踝周围可能会出现很多淤青,导致脚踝动不了,走路时特别疼。

And maybe there's lots of bruising around the ankle, and it means that you can't move the ankle, and it's very painful to walk on.

Speaker 0

骨头没断,只是所有的韧带,或者肌腱受到了损伤。

It's not broken, it's just that all of the ligaments or maybe muscle tendons have been damaged.

Speaker 0

我们管这个叫扭伤。

We call that a sprain.

Speaker 0

扭伤脚踝或者崴了脚,都叫扭伤。

To sprain your ankle or to twist your ankle, a sprain.

Speaker 0

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 0

他说那种疼痛特别剧烈,就像韧带撕裂或者脚踝扭伤一样。

So he said it was extreme muscular pain like when you tear ligaments or sprain an ankle.

Speaker 0

而且据说医院的工作人员看到后都倒吸一口凉气。

And apparently, the staff in the hospital were going, oh.

Speaker 0

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 0

那就是你看到特别糟糕或特别疼的画面时会发出的声音。

Which is the noise you make when you see something nasty or painful.

Speaker 0

哦。

Oh.

Speaker 0

你看看这个。

Look at that.

Speaker 0

天啊,看着真疼。

Oh, that looks painful.

Speaker 0

所以所有护士都发出‘哦’的声音,这种反应真让人心里发毛,你知道的。

So all of the nurses were going, oh, which which makes you feel uncomfortable if someone's wincing, you know.

Speaker 0

他描述的是,医生和护士一看他的伤,全都倒吸一口凉气,‘哎呀,这伤太严重了’。

So he's describing when the doctors and nurses had a look at his injury, and they were all going, oh, oh, that looks bad.

Speaker 0

当专业人士看到你的伤,反应这么强烈,确实挺让人没安全感的,对吧?

Now it's not very comforting when professionals look at your injury and they have that reaction, is it?

Speaker 0

对。

No.

Speaker 0

当一个人皱眉缩脸的时候,这就是‘皱眉’的表现。

If someone is wincing, this is when wincing is an expression on on someone's face.

Speaker 0

你可以想象,看到车祸或者什么特别疼的画面,你下意识地‘哎哟’一声,对吧?

If you can imagine when you see an accident or see something that looks painful and you go, oh, ah, right?

Speaker 0

那种情况下你脸上的表情,就叫‘皱眉’。

Then the expression on your face in that situation, that is known as wincing.

Speaker 0

皱眉,或者皱眉的动作。

To wince or wincing.

Speaker 0

明白吗?

Okay?

Speaker 0

哦。

Oh.

Speaker 0

哦。

Oh.

Speaker 0

天哪。

Oh, god.

Speaker 0

我一看,哎呀,这看着真疼。

I look oh, that looks painful.

Speaker 0

皱眉。

Wincing.

Speaker 0

明白吗?

Okay?

Speaker 0

他们想给我插针打点滴。

They try to get a needle into me for a drip.

Speaker 0

就是通过点滴把药物输入血液里。

A drip that's for for administering medicine into your blood.

Speaker 0

他们插了一根小管子。

And they put a little tube.

Speaker 0

把管子接到手臂或手背的静脉上,这样药物就能直接进入血液循环。

They attach it to a vein on your arm or on your hand, and, it allows them to, put, medicine directly into your bloodstream.

Speaker 0

这叫点滴,或者叫静脉输液。

It's called a drip or an IV drip.

Speaker 0

找不到合适的静脉,血流不畅,说白了就是这个意思。

They couldn't get a vein to bleed properly, so they couldn't find a vein, it's another way of saying it.

Speaker 0

找不到能让点滴顺利输入的静脉。

They couldn't find a vein that allowed the drip to to go in properly.

Speaker 0

最后总算找到一根静脉,把点滴接上了,对吧?

So they eventually they found a vein, they attached a drip to him and they a vein, right?

Speaker 0

你知道静脉是什么吧?

You know what a vein is, don't you?

Speaker 0

静脉就是输送血液到全身的血管。

Veins are the blood vessels, the things that carry the blood around your body.

Speaker 0

其实血管一共有三种类型。

There's actually three types of blood vessel.

Speaker 0

这些内容我上学学生物的时候都记得。

I remember all this stuff from from studying biology at school.

Speaker 0

我当时一定挺专心的。

I must have been concentrating.

Speaker 0

考虑到我的成绩,这还真有点意外。

Surprising considering my results.

Speaker 0

我成绩并不好,但有些东西还是记住了。

My results were not very good, but I seem to pick up some of it.

Speaker 0

动脉、毛细血管和静脉,明白吗?

Arteries, capillaries and veins, okay?

Speaker 0

动脉是把含氧血液输送到身体各处的血管。

Arteries are the blood vessels that carry oxygenated blood to your body.

Speaker 0

毛细血管是非常细小的血管,负责给肌肉和其他身体组织输送血液。

The capillaries are the tiny little blood vessels that actually feed the muscles and other parts of the body.

Speaker 0

毛细血管特别小、特别细、壁很薄。

So very small, tiny, little, very thin blood vessels, capillaries.

Speaker 0

血液用完氧气之后,就会流回另一种叫静脉的血管,静脉把血液送回心脏,然后心脏再把血液通过主动脉泵出去。

And then once the blood has been used and the oxygen's been taken from it, the blood flows back into other blood vessels known as veins, and the veins take the blood all the way back through your body back into your heart, and then the heart pumps the blood back up through the, I suppose, the aorta.

Speaker 0

我记不清心脏连接着哪些具体的血管了。

I can't remember the different blood vessels that are attached to the heart.

Speaker 0

不过总的来说,静脉把缺氧的血液送回心脏,动脉把含氧的血液从肺部输送到全身,再通过毛细血管分配到肌肉等部位。

But anyway, veins carry blood with no oxygen back to the heart and arteries carry oxygenated blood from the lungs to the body and then they're distributed to muscles and things via very small blood vessels known as capillaries.

Speaker 0

明白了。

Okay.

Speaker 0

这期聊了点生物学知识。

A bit of a biology lesson this episode.

Speaker 0

我们再看看还有什么。

Let's see what else.

Speaker 0

我们现在在哪儿?

Where are where are we?

Speaker 0

好吧。

Okay.

Speaker 0

我刚才把列表看到哪儿给忘了。

I've just lost my place in this list.

Speaker 0

好吧。

Okay.

Speaker 0

所以,静脉,就这些了。

So veins, that's it.

Speaker 0

他们终于找到了静脉,把输液管接上了,给他打了静脉注射的对乙酰氨基酚。

They finally, they found a vein and they attached the drip to him, and they put some intravenous paracetamol.

Speaker 0

他说,他们给我打了静脉注射的对乙酰氨基酚,但根本没什么效果。

He said, they put some intravenous paracetamol into me, which didn't really do anything.

Speaker 0

于是他们给他打了静脉注射的对乙酰氨基酚。

So they gave him some intravenous paracetamol.

Speaker 0

静脉注射就是直接打进静脉里。

Intravenous means directly into a vein.

Speaker 0

对乙酰氨基酚,你知道的,就是一种止痛药。

Paracetamol, which you know, you know it's a pain killer.

Speaker 0

我之前讲了个特别烂的笑话,关于鹦鹉和座位的,不过我现在不重复了。

I did say a joke, a terrible joke about the parrot seat them all, but I'm not gonna repeat that now.

Speaker 0

不用了。

No.

Speaker 0

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 0

如果你真想知道那个笑话,回头再听第180期,结尾我有解释。

If you really wanna know that joke, listen to episode 180 again and you'll hear me explain this at the end.

Speaker 0

我觉得也没必要再浪费时间讲了,对吧?

And I think you'll agree, it's not really worth spending any more time on, is it?

Speaker 0

对。

No.

Speaker 0

接下来是一种非处方止痛药。

Next, it's an over the counter pain relief pill.

Speaker 0

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 0

非处方药。

Over the counter.

Speaker 0

说到药品时,这是个常用说法。

This is a common phrase when talking about medicine.

Speaker 0

明白吗?

Okay?

Speaker 0

或者叫药品。

Or pharmaceuticals.

Speaker 0

药品分两种。

There's two types of pharmaceutical.

Speaker 0

一种是非处方药,另一种是货架药。

There's over the counter and there's off the shelf.

Speaker 0

明白吗?

Okay?

Speaker 0

非处方药和处方药,不是‘货架药’!

Over the counter and off No!

Speaker 0

我说错了!

My mistake!

Speaker 0

非处方药和处方药,这两种类型。

There's over the counter and prescription.

Speaker 0

处方药是指必须由医生开处方才能拿到的药。

A prescription medicine is one that you can only get if you've been given a prescription by a doctor.

Speaker 0

你不能随便走进药店就买得到。

You can't just go into a chemist or a pharmacist and buy it.

Speaker 0

必须得有医生开的处方才行,对吧?

You have to be given a prescription from a doctor, right?

Speaker 0

除此之外,还有一种药我们叫非处方药。

Otherwise there are other types of medicine that we call over the counter.

Speaker 0

应该是吧,除非我兄弟这儿弄错了。

Think so, unless my brother made a mistake here.

Speaker 0

非处方药就是你直接去药房就能买,不用医生开处方。

Over the counter just means that you can go into a pharmacy and just buy it without needing a prescription.

Speaker 0

非处方药,哦,等一下。

Over the counter and okay, hold on.

Speaker 0

非处方药和处方药的区别。

Difference between over the counter and prescription.

Speaker 0

我觉得我没说错。

I think I'm right.

Speaker 0

我早说对了。

I think I was right.

Speaker 0

好。

Okay.

Speaker 0

来吧。

Here we go.

Speaker 0

这里是美国食品药品监督管理局,也就是FDA。

This is the FDA Food and Drug Administration Service of America here.

Speaker 0

他们用的都是同样的说法。

They use the same language.

Speaker 0

处方药和非处方药,常见问题解答。

Prescription drugs and over the counter drugs questions and answers.

Speaker 0

处方药和非处方药有什么区别?

What's the difference between prescription drugs and over the counter drugs?

Speaker 0

药物是指用于诊断、治疗、缓解、治愈或预防疾病的物质。

A drug is a substance intended for use in the diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment or prevention of disease.

Speaker 0

非常感谢。

Thanks a lot.

Speaker 0

这个我们早就知道了。

We already knew that.

Speaker 0

以下是非处方药和处方药的主要区别。

Here are the main differences between OTC drugs and prescription drugs.

Speaker 0

处方药必须由医生开具。

Prescription drugs are prescribed by a doctor blah blah blah blah blah.

Speaker 0

非处方药不需要医生的处方就能购买。

OTC drugs are drugs that do not require a doctor's prescription.

Speaker 0

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 0

我猜对了。

I was right.

Speaker 0

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 0

那我们继续吧。

Let's carry on then.

Speaker 0

那为什么丛林里找不到阿司匹林呢?因为鹦鹉都吃光了?

So why are there no aspirins in the jungle because the parrots eat them all?

Speaker 0

真烦人。

Damn it.

Speaker 0

这个笑话又出现了。

That joke came in again.

Speaker 0

我咬紧牙关,努力不去理会眼前发生的事。

I gritted my teeth and tried to ignore what was going on.

Speaker 0

这是我哥哥在救护车里,强忍着情绪,他也咬紧了牙。

This is my brother in the ambulance trying to hold himself together, and he gritted his teeth.

Speaker 0

如果你感受到疼痛,会怎么处理你的牙齿?

If you imagine you're feeling pain, what do you do with your teeth?

Speaker 0

你会把牙齿咬紧。

You grit them together.

Speaker 0

别这样。

Come on.

Speaker 0

我能撑得住吗?

Can I make it?

Speaker 0

就咬紧牙吧。

Just grit.

Speaker 0

咬紧牙关。

Gritting gritting your teeth.

Speaker 0

意思是为了忍住疼痛,把牙齿紧紧咬在一起。

You know, it means clenching your teeth together in order to try and take the pain.

Speaker 0

明白了。

Alright.

Speaker 0

很好。

Good.

Speaker 0

有时候,人们会在你嘴里放个东西,防止你咬得太紧,把牙齿弄坏,特别是疼得厉害的时候。

Sometimes people put something between your teeth to prevent you from, you know, damaging your teeth because you grip them together so hard, if you're experiencing a lot of pain.

Speaker 0

接下来,他说,他们开着警报器送我走。

Next, he said, they drove me with the woo woos on.

Speaker 0

警报器。

The woo woos.

Speaker 0

这里的警报器,指的是救护车上的鸣笛。

Now the woo woos, by this he means the sirens on an ambulance.

Speaker 0

你知道的,呜呜声。

You know, woo.

Speaker 0

那玩意儿到底是干嘛的,就是那个呜呜声。

What do they do in in or you know, woo woos.

Speaker 0

呜呜声。

The woo woos.

Speaker 0

这可不是什么专业术语。

Now it's not a technical term.

Speaker 0

警察可不会说‘呜呜声’这种话。

The police don't use the expression woo woos.

Speaker 0

我当时开车时速只有三十英里,就为了追上那个罪犯。

You know, I was, I was driving at, 30 miles an hour in order to apprehend the criminal.

Speaker 0

那时候我决定打开警报器。

At that point, I decided to turn on the woo woos.

Speaker 0

不。

No.

Speaker 0

他们不会说‘woo woos’这个词,但这个词大概算是一种孩子气的说法,指救护车上的警报器。

They don't use the word woo woos, but it's a sort of, I guess it's a childish term to talk about the siren on an ambulance.

Speaker 0

很多人会说‘woo woos’,但其实那只是警报器。

A lot of people say woo woos, but really it's a siren.

Speaker 0

所以他们开着警报器送他,可他根本享受不到那种感觉。

So they drove him with the woo woos on, but he wasn't able to enjoy it.

Speaker 0

通常情况下,如果你在救护车里,警报器一响,你就会想:‘哦,我坐上了开着警报的救护车。’

Because normally, if you're in an ambulance and they put the woo woos on, you're like, oh, we're I'm in an ambulance with the woo woos on.

Speaker 0

那感觉挺刺激的,但他疼得太厉害,根本顾不上这些。

It's exciting, but he was in so much pain that he had to just ignore it.

Speaker 0

到了这一集的这个部分,我让我弟弟别再捣鼓了。

At this point in the episode, I told my brother to stop fiddling.

Speaker 0

明白吗?

Okay?

Speaker 0

于是我让他别再捣鼓了,结果他老实了大概五分钟。

So I told him to stop fiddling and it that worked for about five minutes.

Speaker 0

大概过了五分钟,他又开始捣鼓起来了。

It's about five minutes before he started fiddling again.

Speaker 0

说实话,你又能怎么办呢?

Honestly, what can you do?

Speaker 0

对这个人,你还能怎么着?

What can you do with this guy?

Speaker 0

我也不清楚。

I don't know.

Speaker 0

后来他说,我现在记不清我们在哪儿了。

Anyway, he then said, I can't remember where we are now.

Speaker 0

不是。

No.

Speaker 0

他说,我记不得我们刚才在哪儿了。

He said, I can't remember where we were now.

Speaker 0

对。

Right.

Speaker 0

你能把那句话里的每个词都挑出来吗?

Do can you pick out all the words in that phrase?

Speaker 0

我记不清我们刚才说到哪儿了。

I can't remember where we were now.

Speaker 0

我记不清我们刚才说到哪儿了。

I can't remember where we were now.

Speaker 0

我记不清我们之前说到哪儿了。

I can't remember where we were.

Speaker 0

就是说,我们之前说到哪儿了。

Meaning, where we were.

Speaker 0

就是指在对话或者故事里,我们当时讲到哪个部分了。

Meaning, at what point in the conversation or at what point in the story we were.

Speaker 0

人们经常说类似‘我们刚才说到哪儿了?’这样的话。

It's quite common to say things like, so where were we?

Speaker 0

我们刚才说到哪儿了?

Where were we?

Speaker 0

说一遍。

Say it.

Speaker 0

我们刚才说到哪儿了?

So where were we?

Speaker 0

我们说到哪儿了?

Where were we?

Speaker 0

我想不起我们说到哪儿了。

I can't remember where we were.

Speaker 0

好的。

Alright.

Speaker 0

行吧。

Fine.

Speaker 0

接下来,他们推着我进了医院。

Next is they wheeled me into the hospital.

Speaker 0

他们推着我进去了。

They wheeled me in.

Speaker 0

也就是说,他们很可能用带轮子的担架把他推进了医院。

That means that they probably pushed him into the hospital on a stretcher with wheels on it.

Speaker 0

就像电影里那样,有人被推着进急诊室,就是那种推着人走的带轮子床。

You know, like in the movies when someone is wheeled into the emergency room in a hospital, they get wheeled in to wheel someone into some place.

Speaker 0

明白了。

Okay.

Speaker 0

轮子,就像汽车上的轮子一样。

Wheel just like the wheels on a on a vehicle.

Speaker 0

滑板上有轮子,汽车上有轮子,医院的担架上也有轮子。

Wheels on a skateboard, wheels on a car, wheels on a hospital stretcher.

Speaker 0

他们用担架把我推进了医院。

They wheeled me into the hospital.

Speaker 0

说到这儿,我想点出一个讽刺的地方:我是在一个带轮子的交通工具上受伤的,结果又被带轮子的担架送进医院。

At this point in the conversation, I attempted to highlight the irony of getting injured on a wheeled vehicle and then being taken into a hospital on another wheeled vehicle.

Speaker 0

我本想开个玩笑,但没成功,不过你也知道,算了,不提了。

I tried to make a joke out of it but it was unsuccessful but net as you know, so never mind.

Speaker 0

接下来他说,有个看起来是印度人的医生看了我一眼。

Next thing was he said, an Indian looking doctor looked at me.

Speaker 0

一个看起来像印度人的医生。

An Indian looking doctor.

Speaker 0

所以这位医生长相有点印度裔的样子。

So the doctor looked a bit Indian.

Speaker 0

不是说他真是印度医生,只是长得像印度人。

Not that he was an Indian doctor, he just looked Indian.

Speaker 0

所以我哥哥也不太确定。

So I guess my brother wasn't sure.

Speaker 0

他可能是印度人,也可能是巴基斯坦人,或者英国人,但看起来确实有点印度裔。

Maybe he was Indian, maybe he was Pakistani, maybe he was like, you know, British, but he looked a bit Indian.

Speaker 0

不过后来在谈话中,我哥哥说,这位医生长得像是印度版的马克·沃尔伯格。

Anyway, it turns out later on in the conversation, my brother said that this doctor looked like a a combination he looked like an Indian Mark Wahlberg.

Speaker 0

你知道他是谁吗?

And you know who he is?

Speaker 0

他是个演员。

He's an actor.

Speaker 0

他演过《变形金刚4》和其他一些片子。

He's in Transformers four and some other things.

Speaker 0

这让我忍不住笑出来,我想,我哥哥在打针、胳膊复位的时候,脑子里想的居然是这个?

So it just makes me it made me laugh because I thought, is that what my brother was thinking while he was having his his shot his shoulder you know, his arm put back into his shoulder.

Speaker 0

他当时心想:这医生长得有点像印度版的马克·沃尔伯格。

He was thinking, oh, he looks a bit like a he's like an Indian Mark Wahlberg.

Speaker 0

说真的,他们给他用了不少吗啡和笑气。

To be fair, they had given him quite a lot of morphine and laughing gas.

Speaker 0

所以,他有这种想法我也能理解。

So, you know, I don't blame him for having that kind of thought.

Speaker 0

哦,这挺有意思的。

Oh, that's interesting.

Speaker 0

他确实长得有点像印度版的马克·沃尔伯格。

He looks a bit like an Indian Mark Wahlberg.

Speaker 0

你还有吗啡吗?

Have you got any more morphine?

Speaker 0

他说,只要医生看起来很有把握,你就可以放松一点。

He said, you can relax a bit when the doctor seems quite in control.

Speaker 0

医生们看起来都很自信,掌控得很好。

So the doctors seem to be quite self assured, quite in control.

Speaker 0

如果一个人掌控局面,那就说明他自信、有条理,一切都在掌握之中。

If someone is in control, it means that they are, you know, self assured, they're organized, everything's under control.

Speaker 0

有个掌控全局的医生,是不是让人安心多了?

It's good to have a doctor who's in control, isn't it?

Speaker 0

让人感觉放松。

Makes you relaxed.

Speaker 0

要是医生看起来完全乱了阵脚,那就糟了。

It's bad if you have a doctor who seems to be completely out of control.

Speaker 0

这可不是什么好兆头。

That's not a very good sign.

Speaker 0

想象一下,你住进医院,肩膀脱臼了,医生却一副无所谓的样子,说:行了。

Imagine it going into hospital, you've got a dislocated shoulder and the doctor's like, right.

Speaker 0

好吧。

Okay.

Speaker 0

那到底怎么了?

So what is it?

Speaker 0

腿断了?

A broken leg?

Speaker 0

不是。

No.

Speaker 0

不是。

No.

Speaker 0

不是。

No.

Speaker 0

是肩膀脱臼。

It's a dislocated dislocated shoulder.

Speaker 0

对。

Right.

Speaker 0

当然。

Of course.

Speaker 0

没错。

Right.

Speaker 0

等一下。

So just a second.

Speaker 0

等等。

Oh, hold on.

Speaker 0

我刚想起来。

Just realized.

Speaker 0

我得走了,还得去拿我的白大褂。

I've got to go and I've gotta go and get my white coat.

Speaker 0

我还没穿白大褂呢。

I haven't got my white no.

Speaker 0

你穿着白大褂啊,对,没错。

You you you white you are wearing a white oh, yeah.

Speaker 0

我穿着白大褂。

I am wearing a white coat.

Speaker 0

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 0

出什么事了?

What's going on?

Speaker 0

你们还有笑气吗?

Have you got any more laughing gas?

Speaker 0

不好意思,医生,上班时不能用笑气。

Sorry doctor, you shouldn't be using the laughing gas while you're at work.

Speaker 0

哦,对。

Oh yeah.

Speaker 0

抱歉。

Sorry.

Speaker 0

别跟任何人说。

Don't tell anyone.

Speaker 0

那会是个完全失控的医生。

That would be a doctor who's out of control.

Speaker 0

但我猜这位医生其实是有分寸的。

But I imagine this doctor was in control.

Speaker 0

他说:‘汤普森先生,您的肩膀脱臼了。’

He said, okay, mister Thompson, it seems that you've dislocated your shoulder.

Speaker 0

没关系。

No problem.

Speaker 0

我再给您打一点吗啡。

Let me just give you a little bit more morphine.

Speaker 0

好了。

There you go.

Speaker 0

现在感觉怎么样?

How does that feel?

Speaker 0

不错吧?

Nice, isn't it?

Speaker 0

好,咱们把胳膊复位吧,怎么样?

Okay, let's get that arm back into the socket, shall we?

Speaker 0

医生就该这么跟病人说话。

That's the sort of way that a doctor should speak to you.

Speaker 0

接下来,他详细告诉我接下来会发生什么。

Next, he told me exactly what was going to happen.

Speaker 0

得先拍个X光,确认骨头没断,要是没断,就再打点药,然后把关节复位。

I'd need an x-ray to check that nothing was broken, then if nothing was broken, they'd give me some more drugs and then put it back in.

Speaker 0

复位完还得再拍一次X光,看看复位过程中有没有造成新的骨折,这让我觉得,复位过程估计挺疼的。

And then they'd give me another x-ray to check that nothing had broken while they were putting it back in, which kind of made me think that it might be quite a painful process having it set back.

Speaker 0

那里头没什么难懂的地方。

There's not really anything in particular that you don't understand there.

Speaker 0

就是一段很地道的描述性英语。

It's just a nice bit of descriptive English.
