47. 越南旅行

绝对令人惊叹。

Absolutely amazing.

我还参观了胡志明市周边的一些地方。

I also visited some of the places around Ho Chi Minh City.

比如，古芝地道。

For example, the Gucci tunnels.

那是一个地道网络，距离胡志明市大约两到三小时车程，那里是越共——代表共产主义北越、与南越和美军作战的越南士兵——活动的区域。

Now that's a tunnel network, about two or three hours away from Ho Chi Minh City, and that's where some of the, the Viet Cong, the Vietnamese soldiers, who, were representing the communist North, fighting against the the South Vietnamese and the Americans.

他们在柬埔寨和胡志明市之间的一个叫古芝的地区，利用这套地道网络与南越和美军作战。

And they had an area between Cambodia and Ho Chi Minh City called Gucci, and they, there, fought against the South Vietnamese and American forces by using this tunnel network, a system of tunnels.

And this is a huge network of tunnels that went very deep underground.

有些地道深达九英尺，而且非常狭窄，美军士兵根本无法通行。

Some of them went about nine feet underground, and they were very small tunnels, Too small for American soldiers to use.

Just small enough, just big enough for the Vietnamese troops to use.

So I saw them, and that was very interesting.

几天后，我实际上飞往了越南的首都河内，并在那里待了几天。

And after a few days, I actually then flew north to Hanoi, which is the capital city of Vietnam, and spent a few days there.

Now compared to Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi is still very, very busy and very crowded and lots of scooters driving around and lots of noise.

但气候有些不同。

But the the climate is a bit different.

胡志明市非常炎热潮湿，而河内在一月却相当凉爽，多雨、阴沉，天空布满灰云。

Ho Chi Minh City was very hot and humid, but, Hanoi is quite cool, in January and quite wet, quite rainy, overcast, lots of gray cloud.

所以河内典型的一天就是灰蒙蒙、寒冷、细雨绵绵。

So basically, a typical day in Hanoi would be gray, cold, and drizzling, like raining.

这并不太理想，但那里依然是个非常有趣的地方，有着不同的氛围。

So that wasn't great, but it it was still a very interesting place and a different atmosphere.

会说英语的人更少。

Fewer people speak English.

他们在河内似乎对你这个外国人没那么感兴趣，因此这是一个非常有趣的地方。

They they seem to be less interested in you as a foreigner in Hanoi, and so it's quite a a fascinating place.

Plus, there's lots of kind of old communist architecture, lots of old communist buildings and things, and as well as that lots of French colonial architecture because the the French had a colony in Vietnam before the the American war.

There was a a French colony there.

So lots of French buildings.

我和一位叫米克的朋友住在一起，他曾经和我在伦敦英语学校共事。

And I stayed there with a friend of mine called Mick, who I used to work with at London School of English.

我住在他家，我们一起度过了除夕夜，在街上喝啤酒，吃当地一种叫pho的面条。

I stayed with him, and we spent New Year's Eve together, drinking beer in the street and eating the local noodles called pho.

这是一种越南人常吃的汤面。

This is kind of soup noodles that they eat in Vietnam.

我们喝了当地的啤酒，在街头吃面条，乘坐摩托车出租车穿梭全城，玩得很开心。

And we we kind of drank the local beer and then ate the noodles in the street and took scooter taxis around the city and had a good time.

我还去了下龙湾，它位于河内以东约三到四个小时车程的沿海地区，是一个世界遗产地。

And I also visited Long Bay, which is about three or four hours away from Hanoi on the coast, and it's a world heritage site.

这是世界上你所能参观的最令人印象深刻的地点之一。

It's one of the most impressive places in the world that you can visit.

它是一个广阔的沿海海湾，海中有许多岛屿。

And it's a a large coastal bay, which has lots of islands in the sea.

So you just take a boat out to out into the sea, and there are lots of these very tall islands, and they're incredible looking.

The local people say that the whole area was created by a massive dragon, which swam into the sea at that point, and it dragged lots of rocks into the sea and created these incredible islands.

And, I stayed on a boat, in Halong Bay overnight, which was an interesting experience.

我睡的那艘船并不怎么样。

The boat that I I slept in, wasn't very nice.

It had, I think it had mice or rats on the boat, which is quite disgusting.

淋浴坏了，但我有一群其他游客作伴，有德国人、俄罗斯人、法国人和一些以色列人，我们在船上一起喝啤酒、打牌、聊天，过得非常开心。

The shower didn't work, but, I was accompanied by a group of other tourists, some Germans, some Russians, French guys, and some Israelis, and we we all had a good time on the boat together drinking beer, playing cards, and talking to each other, and that was good fun.

And so then after Halong Bay, I went back to Hanoi and spent another evening with my friend Nick.

第二天，我飞往另一个沿海城市顺化。

And then the next day I flew to another coastal city called Hue.

And that's kind of the old ancient capital of Vietnam, and there's an old imperial city there, which is kind of a ancient old city.

那里有许多古老的建筑和寺庙，实际上是个美丽的地方。

And there are these old buildings and temples there, and it's a beautiful place actually.

与河内和胡志明市不同。

Different to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

非常宁静，游客不多，更安静、更小，当地人也更友好。

Very peaceful, not very touristy, quieter, smaller, the people are friendlier.

那里气候更温暖、更阳光明媚，天气很好，阳光充足。

The climate is much warmer and sunnier down there, so nice good sunny weather.

我租了一辆自行车，骑着它游览了这座古皇城，观赏那些古老的废墟建筑，拍了些照片，享受阳光，晒黑了皮肤。

And I rented a bicycle, and I rode around the old imperial city looking at the old ruined buildings and taking photographs and getting some sunshine and a suntan.

And I even went to the beach.

我坐了一辆摩托车出租车，行驶了大约15公里到达海滩，独自坐在沙滩上读了一本书。

I took a scooter taxi about 15 kilometers to the beach, and I sat in sat on the sand and read a book there alone.

I was the only person on the beach.

It felt very strange to be out there on my own just looking out across the sea.

那种感觉有点像世界尽头一样。

It felt a bit like the end of the world or something.

Very interesting experience.

And then, the scooter driver took me back, to my hotel, and we rode while the sun went down, so I could see the sunset.

And we rode through the countryside, across the paddy fields, past rivers, and through little villages.

And really amazing to to watch the Vietnamese countryside like that.

It's really beautiful place, absolutely beautiful.

我在顺化待了几天，然后出发去……让我想想。

So I spent a couple of days in Hue, and then I traveled, let's see.

我坐长途汽车前往越南东海岸的另一个小镇，那里叫会安。

I traveled by coach down to another town, which is on the East Coast Of Vietnam, and that was called Hoi An.

我真的很喜欢会安。

And I really loved Hoi An.

我觉得那是个美丽的地方。

I thought it was a beautiful place.

那里非常宁静，相当放松，距离海滩大约两三公里。

Very peaceful, very kind of relaxing place, and it's about two or three kilometers from the from the beach.

But there's a river which runs through Hoi An.

And there are lots of really nice shops and cafes and restaurants and bars, and the riverside is is beautiful.

There's a very lovely river which runs through, and you get these old boats that go up and down the river.

开船的老奶奶会带你乘船在河上往返游览。

And old ladies who who run the boats will take you on a boat trip up and down the river.

那里有很多非常美味的餐厅，提供绝佳的当地美食，你可以坐在餐厅外，望着河流，享受宁静放松的氛围。

And there are lots of really delicious restaurants that serve fantastic local food, and you can sit outside the restaurants and look at the river and just enjoy a very relaxed peaceful atmosphere.

It's fantastic.

Also in in Hoi it's famous for tailors.

裁缝是做衣服的人。

Now, tailors are people who who make clothes.

They usually make suits or dresses.

And so, there are lots of tailors in Hoi An.

And so I actually went into a tailor there, and I had two suits made.

They measured my body, and then they they made two very, very nice suits for me.

One of them is is a nice black business suit, which I can wear to work, and it fits perfectly.

It's fantastic.

And the other one, is actually a white suit, and it's it's really beautiful, white cotton suit.

And that's that looks fantastic.

I don't know when I'm going to wear it, but it looks really great.

它很适合参加派对，或者一些娱乐活动之类的。

It would be great for parties or maybe sort of, entertainment events or something.

A really great white suit, and they were both very cheap as well to to to make.

他们连夜赶制，第二天就做好了。

And they they made them overnight, so the next day they were ready.

那真是太好了。

And that was great.

So I spent a few days in Hoi An and really enjoyed it there.

是个可爱的地方。

Lovely place.

然后我坐火车南下，去了一个叫芽庄的地方。

Then I took the train south to a place called Nha Trang.

这趟火车旅程非常迷人，因为它长达九个小时，一路沿着东海岸南下直到芽庄。

Now the train journey was fascinating because, it was nine hours long and it went all the way down the coast, the East Coast down to Nha Trang.

所以从车窗望出去，越南乡村的景色美不胜收，我拍了很多照片。

So there were fantastic beautiful views of, the Vietnam countryside, from the windows, and I took lots of photos.

那里真的很美，绝对是个美丽的地方。

It's really beautiful, absolutely beautiful place.

不过，当我眺望乡村风光时，有时会让我想起在电视上看过的越南战争电影。

Although, when I looked at the countryside, sometimes it made me think of like Vietnam war movies that I'd seen on on TV.

I expect that, a lot of people think that when they go there.

But despite that, the country is beautiful in its own right.

而且我认为它现在正努力超越过去那种战争地带的形象。

And I think that it's it's managing to now, go beyond, the image that it used to have, which was a kind of war zone.

And now it's it's a really spectacular, beautiful, interesting, exciting holiday destination.

In fact, the tourist industry in Vietnam, I think, is the biggest industry there, and most of its economy gets its money from tourism.

In fact, I mean, there are lots and lots of tourists there.

I mean, it's it's great.

So, yeah, the train journey was interesting, and the train was was comfortable but quite dirty.

Like, I did notice a few cockroaches on the train, and that wasn't very nice.

Plus, the toilets were quite disgusting and smelly.

And, the food was awful on the train.

And, stupidly, I ate some of the food, and, it wasn't very good.

I had a few beers as well to just help me relax, but I did have a slightly bad stomach for a couple of days after my train journey.

I shouldn't have eaten the the food on the train.

And I met a few Australian people on the train, and we we sat together and talked and had some beers and things, and that was good fun.

And then we arrived in Nha Trang.

芽庄是一个海滨小镇，有点像海滨度假胜地。

And Nha Trang is a beach side town, kind of a beach resort.

这里非常旅游化，真的非常旅游化。

And it's quite touristy, Really quite touristy.

但这里的海滩很好，是一片长长的海滩，你可以躺在沙滩上晒太阳。

But it's it's a good beach, good long beach, and you can lie on the sand and just get a suntan.

我就这样待了一天。

And I did that for a day.

在另一天，我乘船出海，那里有一些岛屿。

And on another day, I took a boat ride out, into the sea, and there are some islands out there.

这次船游真的非常有趣。

And the boat ride was really, really good fun.

我在船上玩得很开心，还遇到了很多人。

I had a great time on the boat, and I met lots of other people.

一些英国人，还有几个英国女孩。

Some English people, a few English girls.

再次遇到英国女孩真是太好了，因为我已经有几周没和来自英国的女生说过话了。

It was great actually to to meet some English girls again because I hadn't spoken to any girls from England for a few weeks.

所以能遇到一些英国女孩真的很棒，她们人很好，非常漂亮迷人。

And so it was good to meet some English girls, and they were really nice and very gorgeous and beautiful.

和她们聊天非常愉快。

And that was good fun to talk to them.

And some Australian guys and some German guys as well.

我们在海里游泳，吃了美味的海鲜，在船上度过了非常愉快的时光，还喝了啤酒，晒了太阳，一切都很好。

And we swam in the sea and we ate some delicious seafood and just had a really, really good time on the boat and drank beer on the boat and got suntans and everything.

So that was really good fun.

离开芽庄后，我乘坐长途大巴，经由另一个叫大叻的城镇，返回了胡志明市。

And after Nha Trang, I then took a long coach journey back to Hano back to Ho Chi Minh City via another town called Dalat.

我没有在大叻待太久。

I didn't stay in Dalat very long.

但最终，我在大约两个半月后回到了胡志明市，然后再次经由卡塔尔飞回伦敦。

But eventually, I got back to Ho Chi Minh City after about two and a half weeks, and then I flew back to London via Qatar again.

我很幸运能降落在伦敦盖特威克机场，因为那几天下了大雪，跑道上积了很多雪。

And I was very lucky to be able to land in Gatwick Airport in London because it had been snowing a lot, and there was a lot of snow on the runway.

我到达的前一天，机场关闭了。

And the day before I arrived, the airport was closed.

我到达的后一天，机场又关闭了。

And then the day after I arrived, the airport was closed again.

所以我很幸运，赶上了唯一一个天气晴朗的日子着陆。

So luckily enough, I managed to to land on the the only clear day.

因此我度过了一个非常愉快的假期。

And so I had a really great holiday.

Basically, the impressions I got there were that the people are friendly.

Most of them speak some basic English, especially in the main cities.

They're they're they're very the economy is very quickly developing, and I definitely get the impression that the people are very, very happy to take your money as a tourist.

And that, you know, that's kind of understandable because they are just trying to make a living.

But at the same time, sometimes it feels like they just want your money, which can be a little bit unfriendly.

But but it's only a small complaint.

It's actually a very friendly place.

And, you know, it makes you think about what is the effect of my traveling to that country.

So it's it's a bit like this the the sort of Vietnam area in Disneyland.

But nevertheless, a really great place.

Some beautiful landscapes, beautiful scenery, and definitely definitely a great place to go on holiday.

Things like, so where are you from?

How long have you been here?

All those sorts of things.
