I think that's actually a very, very good, very effective way to learn.

In fact, in a classroom situation, language feedback is something that the teacher will often do, and it's like a central part of learning a language, getting feedback on the mistakes that you're making.

But also in those mixed culture, mixed nationality groups, you end up sort of learning things about grammar or vocabulary from other people's mistakes quite a lot.

It ends up becoming kind of a workshop where you actually learn various bits of remedial grammar just from hearing everyone in the room being corrected.

It's a really good way of kind of getting to grips with the language and and working out the difference between your language and another language.

I just want to say about your competition.

So the two podcasts I'd like to talk about are the first one, which is about your interview to Vicky, the Chinese student who's studying Oxford University.

Well, that's interesting that is because some people actually do kind of try to put on an accent, but they do it, you know, in a in a subtle way, like the way actors can learn how to to use a different accent in a movie, you know, like an English accent actor like Kate Winslet might do an American role, and she does a perfect American accent.

So it is kind of possible.

But in learning English, perhaps, you know, that just raises the question, do you really need a kind of English accent?

And as long as it's kind of correct and it's understandable, then it's fine to have a bit of an accent, a bit of a regional accent, I think, because that's part of your identity.

I I noticed that you were sort of dropping the t sound in that one, Luigi.

Which is very natural as how a lot of English people speak.

I think that, you know, a company would still say competition, but because if you drop the t in that word, it doesn't sound right.

So comp I think a company would say competition.

You know what?

Do you know what I mean?

Cockney would say noticed.

So really, if you're thinking about your accent, you really need to sort of carefully pick what kind of accent it is that you want, and then just try and focus on listening to that and copying the sounds of that.

So it might be BBC English or it might be even just listening to me on this podcast.

You would just listen to that and try and copy it.

But if you would like to speak in a certain way, if you'd like to speak that kind of Cockney dialect, then, yeah, find some examples of it and and go for it.

And especially the kind of Cockney you see in films, there aren't really many people who who speak like that.

Hi everyone, this is Marco from Italy and I wanted to reply to Luke's podcast about idioms because I find it brilliant and I love idioms because they I think they are the funniest thing about English.

实际上，意大利语中也有我们时不时会用的俗语，但即使它们表达的意思与英语俗语相同，听起来却完全不同。

Actually, also in Italian, we have our own sayings that we use every now and then, but they sound completely different from the English ones, even when they share the same meaning.

I'm here to give you the Italian corresponding of two idioms, which are the part calling the cattle black, which in Italian would be the ox calling the donkey horned.

另一个是‘不要在蛋孵化前就数小鸡’，在意大利语中则是‘别在猫进袋子前就喊猫’。

And the other one is don't count your eggs before they're hatched, which in Italian would be don't say cat before it's actually in your bag.

So they as you can see, they are totally different.

I remember a guy from UK once told me that he thought that Italian sayings are more colorful and imaginative.

Idioms are kind of pretty amusing aspects of the language, aren't they?

A couple of idioms you mentioned there.

The pot calling the kettle black.

That's when someone is being hypocritical, you'd say, that's the pot calling the kettle black.

Well, I can't say that I know many Italian idioms except the ones that you just taught me then.

So I can't really say, but I know that Italian is definitely a very beautiful language.

So I'm sure that there are some really fantastic idioms in in Italian.

It really bugged me because what I was expecting was for someone who didn't know English that well well I was expecting that to be taught things like I don't know basic things like I woke up in the morning I went to the bathroom I took a shower, and I got ready to go to school, things like that, but instead of this, they taught you things like I don't grab my stuff, like, how to tell the difference between, present perfect tense and the predatory tense, and, I don't know, people who don't know English really well what they don't they don't want to know this they just want to know how to say hello how to do some fine things how are you and so on and in a way university kind of sucks I'd say because of this but I don't say you mustn't go to university no of course go to the university if you've got the opportunity to go but it's my call you know don't think university in the beginning least that wasn't what I was expecting to be, to be honest.
