But a person can be haunted by something as well, which just means that there's like a bad feeling or something, a bad experience that stays with that person through their life and that stops them from being happy.

So Wallace was haunted all through his life by a specific and very vivid memory from his childhood, a time when he was about five years old and he walked away from his home on his own.
