I have Shannon Delheimer, Board Game Ambassador and fellow OKIE.

Speaker 0

I had to be...

Speaker 0

Had to reach out when I saw that we were in the same state.

Speaker 0

So, welcome to the show.

Speaker 2

Well, excellent.

You can find me at Shannon Delheimer, that's d e l h e I m e r, on Facebook.

Speaker 2

我只用Facebook。

I'm only on Facebook.

Speaker 2

I'm a board game lifestyle content creator.

Speaker 2

I do board game reviews.

Speaker 2

I do clips.

Speaker 2

I do funny reels and memes, that I find funny.

Speaker 2

Obviously, that's very objective, but you know how that goes.

Speaker 2

But my real goal is building up the board gaming community in Oklahoma, where I want people to feel welcomed and have a free to come and make friends and memories.

Speaker 2

I host several board game events, and that's what I'm known for.

Speaker 2

We also work at TokenCon, and I'm volunteer a lot at the board game board game community.

Speaker 0

I was gonna say if there's any kind of organized board game event in Oklahoma City Metro Area, there's a great job...

Speaker 0

A great chance that Shannon is there or organized.

Speaker 2

对。

There.

Speaker 2

I will be there teaching games, giving game suggestions.

Speaker 2

That's my favorite.

Speaker 2

I love it when they put me at the booth and somebody come...

Speaker 2

I'm just waiting around for somebody to come and ask me about board games so I could talk for hours.

Speaker 2

Give them, like, 20 games they need to play and why they need to play them.

Speaker 0

The game sommelier.

Speaker 0

所以……

So...

Speaker 0

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 0

And you mentioned TokenCon, which is one of my favorite conventions in the, it's in the Oklahoma City area during the spring time.

Speaker 0

So if you find yourself in that part of town or that part of the country, it's definitely worth checking out.

Speaker 0

It's got, the the big con stuff, but the small con feel, I think.

Speaker 2

It is actually one of my favorite cons.

Speaker 2

Not only do I know pretty much everybody there, but it's 1,700 people of your new best friends that you haven't met yet, and we're all just playing games.

Speaker 2

It's very, very friendly, very laid back.

Speaker 2

It is my favorite con, obviously.

Speaker 2

It's my favorite Definitely.

Speaker 0

Well, Shannon, have you played anything interesting or noteworthy lately?

Speaker 2

I've played...

Speaker 2

I'm really getting back to the older games, the games I know I love because I'm a...

Speaker 2

Everyone would know that follows me a board game collector, I buy the everything that comes out, I'll buy it and play it.

Speaker 2

I'm an omni player, but I'm really getting back lately to the games that I love that I already know the rules on.

Speaker 2

So I've been playing Castles of Burgundy.

Speaker 2

I've played Cavernon lately.

Speaker 2

I've been...

Speaker 2

I played Clans of Caledonia a couple of times, Trajan, Great Western Trail.

Speaker 2

But as far as new games go, because everybody's looking for the most exciting, I played Final Titan.

Speaker 2

It is a draft building card game by Richard Garfield.

Speaker 2

You build a team of super overpowered monsters, mechs and creatures, and you face 1v1 on a dice battling system, but you can upgrade them with tokens.

Speaker 2

And basically, it's a last standing Titan wins.

Speaker 2

It's fast, but it's super chaotic, and we were having a blast with it.

Speaker 0

That is awesome.

Speaker 0

That sounds fun.

Speaker 0

You know, it's funny that you mentioned playing a lot of older games because that's literally what I've been doing.

Speaker 0

I've been breaking out some older games.

Speaker 0

I've actually brought For Sale out, introduced it to some some people who had never played it before, and I hadn't played that game, oh my gosh, probably in a decade.

Speaker 0

But, it is such a fun and interesting little auction game because you have essentially two auctions going on.

Speaker 0

You're first bidding to get properties, and then you're bidding to sell them for the most amount of money.

Speaker 0

And so I think it's a it's a fun, quick little game.

Speaker 2

That's what I...

Speaker 2

Every time I play a game recently, I spend like all day learning it, and then all day, you know, setting it up and playing it.

Speaker 2

And at the end, I'm like, well, I like this, but I like this other game better.

Speaker 2

Why aren't I just playing that game?

Speaker 2

And then I, why can't we just normalize playing games that we love?

Speaker 2

I don't know.

Speaker 2

I think that's my new path that I'm on.

Speaker 2

That's my playing games that I already love era right now.

Speaker 0

I love that.

Speaker 0

Any other games that you wanna talk about recently?

Speaker 0

I I thought it was funny that you had castles of Burgundy, Caverna, and clans of Caledonia like you're just going through the alphabet, so I'm playing the seas today.

Speaker 2

Oh, that...

Speaker 2

I could do that.

Speaker 2

That would be great.

Speaker 2

But that was not planned.

Speaker 2

不是。

No.

Speaker 2

It just happened to be...

Speaker 2

I'm going through my, like, top 20.

Speaker 2

You know?

Speaker 0

Actually, you know, I noticed that you had played Diamonds recently.

Speaker 0

Think I saw a post where you were playing Diamonds.

Speaker 2

I played that, yeah, last night in my board game group at Wizards.

Speaker 2

We play every Tuesday.

Speaker 2

And they also were starting to bring back games we...

Speaker 2

They loved.

Speaker 2

Games that brought them into the hobby and made them love the hobby and that they brought that.

Speaker 2

It's the first time I'd have played it.

Speaker 0

Stronghold

I had played it when Stronghold first released it.

Speaker 0

So it's a it's a trick taking game, obviously.

Speaker 0

But, there's some some fun little twists to it as well.

Speaker 0

But it's one of those games where I really enjoyed it, and it just sat on my shelf.

Speaker 0

And when I saw you playing it, I was like, why?

Speaker 0

You know, didn't ever reach that threshold of I gotta play it multiple times, and now people will say, oh, let's play that game, you know, because they'll remember it.

Speaker 0

And so I'm like, I need to start grabbing something like that out and playing it again.

Speaker 2

We always try to play one easier game at the end of the night, you know, so he brought that out and said, just give it a shot.

Speaker 2

It was fun.

Speaker 2

I I did not win.

Speaker 2

That's not uncommon.

Speaker 2

我……

I...

Speaker 2

I'm there...

Speaker 2

It's there for a good time.

Speaker 0

But I did I did play a new game yesterday with some friends, and that is Thunder Road Ignition.

Speaker 0

Have you seen this one?

Speaker 2

见过。

I have.

Speaker 2

I've played it.

Speaker 2

It's good.

Speaker 0

对。

Yes.

Speaker 0

It is good.

Speaker 2

So I like Thunder Road, and I have all the...

Speaker 2

Everything that goes with that, and this is just a shorter non player elimination.

Speaker 0

So to me, it sounds like restoration games are like, alright.

Speaker 0

We really want to be able to have the game that you can just grab off the shelf and play and not have just a monster box and and, you know, which options to put on.

Speaker 0

So it's a mildly streamlined version of Thunder Road Vendetta.

Speaker 0

As you mentioned, there's no there's no player elimination.

Speaker 0

So it's a true race where even if you get beat up, you come back the next round.

Speaker 0

I'm I'm curious.

Speaker 0

When you played it, did you find cars were falling apart faster than they do in the regular Thunder Road?

Speaker 2

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 2

But that adds to the chaos and the fun.

Speaker 2

And I play with people that deliberately try to make it happen too.

Speaker 2

So I think it was by choice.

Speaker 2

We are getting pricked because there's no consequences.

Speaker 2

不如

You might as

Speaker 0

well have the most fun.

Speaker 0

You might as well have

Speaker 2

the most fun possible with it.

Speaker 0

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 0

And and and the damage rules and all that are fairly the same, as the base game.

Speaker 0

The map tiles, I think, are a little narrower, so they encourage...

Speaker 0

Basically causes more conflict and and and shooting and things.

Speaker 0

And so it was fun because we were playing it and there was just so much carnage, at the very beginning.

Speaker 0

And that's obviously what you're playing Thunder Road for.

Speaker 0

It's carnage.

Speaker 2

I don't know if you've played, it is Jibber Jabber.

Speaker 2

It's an Oklahoma owned.

Speaker 2

It's gonna go to Target, so it's gonna be mainstream soon.

Speaker 2

Have you played that?

Speaker 0

I have not, but I'm excited.

Speaker 0

I like a good word game.

Speaker 2

It is kind of a end of the night again party game word game, where one player has a card.

Speaker 2

They don't see the answers.

Speaker 2

You pick, obviously we're trying to guess what the word is and each player says one letter of the word trying to make them guess the word.

Speaker 2

So I'm not explaining it very well.

Speaker 2

I promise you it's a very good game.

Speaker 0

So it's a cooperative game, right?

Speaker 0

Where you're trying

Speaker 2

to It is.

Speaker 0

Yeah, but there's obviously rules on what you can and can't say.

Speaker 2

Yeah, if I had the card you could see it, but there'll be three words and you'll pick like snacks is the answer.

Speaker 2

And the person in left will say, C, the next person says H, I, P, and then third person says stop.

Speaker 2

And they say, Oh, chips.

Speaker 2

And then you get three chances to spell a word for the...

Speaker 2

And then the guesser has to guess what you're trying to say.

Speaker 2

Oh, it's snacks.

Speaker 0

Gotcha.

Speaker 0

But the group doesn't know what word they're spelling.

Speaker 2

对。

Yes.

Speaker 2

And it goes so off the rails.

Speaker 2

You may be thinking chips, somebody else is thinking cheese, somebody else is thinking a thousand other things.

Speaker 2

So even maybe halfway through the word, somebody's spelling something completely different and you keep having a go with it.

Speaker 0

That's so funny because I can easily see someone say c, someone say h, and then someone say a, and everyone's like, what?

Speaker 2

The faces.

Speaker 2

The people's faces.

Speaker 2

And then the guesser is always looking so confused.

Speaker 2

We have been just cracking up with that one, and it has been a very, very good time.

Speaker 0

I like that.

Speaker 0

That sounds fun.

Speaker 0

So do you happen to know when it'll be available?

Speaker 2

Well, you can buy it right now.

Speaker 2

I think it's from All Play.

Speaker 2

I think you buy it from All Play right now.

Speaker 2

但它……

But it go...

Speaker 2

It's gonna be mass marketed, which is pretty exciting because she is from Oklahoma.

Speaker 0

That is exciting.

Speaker 0

Oh, man, that sounds fun.

Speaker 0

That's such a simple concept, it just seems...

Speaker 0

I can see how quickly it goes off the rails.

Speaker 0

And it's easy to use in just about any group, I think.

Speaker 2

It is small box too and with a small price tag.

Speaker 0

不错。

Nice.

Speaker 0

Let's see here.

Speaker 0

Oh, I did get Kingsburg back to the table speaking of older games as well.

Speaker 0

My wife and I had recently been up in Milwaukee at the Stronghold convention...

Speaker 0

Or Strong Tower convention.

Speaker 0

Excuse me.

Speaker 0

And I saw as I was walking by the table, somebody was playing Kingsberg.

Speaker 1

I was like,

Speaker 0

I haven't played Kingsberg in forever.

Speaker 0

So I don't know if you've ever played it because it's it's pretty old.

Speaker 0

But, basically, you have four or three three dice, and you roll them, and then you're trying to influence different people in the king's castle.

Speaker 0

And, basically, the the dice that you roll are the ones you can influence.

Speaker 0

So if you roll a 17, you can influence the queen and get a whole bunch of stuff.

Speaker 0

But, otherwise, you can kinda pick and choose which dice you wanna use and kind of spread them across the board and use it to gain resources and you build stuff and then you have to defend the castle.

Speaker 0

But ultimately, you're just trying to earn victory points.

Speaker 0

But it's like a...

Speaker 0

It's a worker placement type game.

Speaker 0

So if I put something here, that means somebody else can't put it there.

Speaker 0

So you can you have that that joy of stymieing people accidentally or intentionally.

Speaker 2

That is...

Speaker 2

Sounds right up my alley.

Speaker 2

I wrote it down.

Speaker 2

I put it I put it on my list.

Speaker 2

Somebody in my game game group has gotta own that.

Speaker 0

Surely.

Speaker 0

There was a...

Speaker 0

An original edition.

Speaker 0

It was like an FFG game, and then there was an expansion, which I never picked up.

Speaker 0

And then it sort of went out of print, and then some company, it might have been FFG reprinted it with the expansion, and then it sort of went out of print.

Speaker 0

So I'm sure there's plenty of copies floating around somewhere.

Speaker 0

But it's pretty fun.

Speaker 0

Any any other games you wanna talk about or mention?

Speaker 2

The only other game that I've been playing a lot, ever getting to the table a lot is Pocket Wingspan.

Speaker 2

And it is just a shorter, smaller version of the regular Wingspan that is super easy to table and thirty minutes to play, but it's got all the feel of the the car drafting and tableau building that Wingspan does, and it's been a huge hit.

Speaker 0

Interesting.

Speaker 0

So have you played FinSpan?

Speaker 2

Yes.

Speaker 0

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 0

So can you compare the two?

Speaker 0

Because I always think of FinSpan as sort of like the distilled version of Wingspan.

Speaker 0

Like, it has all the things you wanna do except, of course, fish instead of birds.

Speaker 2

It is not much like Fenceman and a lot like Wingspan.

Speaker 2

I mean, yeah, I mean, other than the fact that you do trigger off...

Speaker 2

That you're building tableaus that work together to trigger, big plays, you know, and get fun stuff.

Speaker 0

Well, cool.

Speaker 0

So so much for that theory.

Speaker 0

Out the window.

Speaker 0

Excellent.

Speaker 0

Well, the last one that I wanna talk about was just that, we got Return to Dark Tower to the table once again, and that's one of my all time favorite games.

Speaker 0

I love The Dark Tower, and I've loved loved Return to Dark Tower.

Speaker 0

And just...

Speaker 0

这个……

The...

Speaker 0

Just everything about it is so much fun.

Speaker 0

The gameplay is fun.

Speaker 0

整个……

The whole...

Speaker 0

Of course, the tower, the app, the the story that builds up, and and whatnot.

Speaker 0

So we had a good time and we successfully defeated the Empress of Shades.

Speaker 0

So good on us.

Speaker 2

That is one that I've always been wanting to play.

Speaker 2

I'm always on the lookout for it, to find it.

Speaker 2

I don't know anybody that owns it.

Speaker 0

Well

Speaker 2

Well, now I do.

Speaker 0

I was gonna say I might have to bring it to TokenCon.

Speaker 0

Set her up and let her go.

Speaker 2

Because I am...

Speaker 2

I've always been interested in it.

Speaker 2

Like I said, it's always been one of my shortlist to get played.

Speaker 0

Awesome.

Speaker 0

Well, let's take a quick break.

Speaker 0

When we come back, we're gonna talk about games that make a diff...

Speaker 0

What are we gonna talk about?

Speaker 0

We're gonna talk about games that play different that second time.

Speaker 0

Hey.

Speaker 0

我是Erik。

This is Erik.

Speaker 0

I just wanted to let you guys know that since 2020, we've been using Zencastr to do all of our recording, which has been a huge help to us because what it allows you to do is have your basic website where you can connect with one another and communicate with one another, you know, like your Zooms and your Teams, but it also records everything in a separate track, which is critical when editing time comes around.

Speaker 0

So, hey, I encourage you.

Speaker 0

去zencastr.zencastr.com看看吧。

Check out zencastr.zencastr.com.

Speaker 0

Thanks.

Speaker 0

好了。

Alright.

Speaker 0

We're back.

Speaker 0

我还是Erik。

I'm still Erik's.

Speaker 0

她还是Shannon。

She is still Shannon.

Speaker 0

And so the concept for this episode that I pitched to Shannon was the idea of that there are these games that you play, and then the second time you play them, the play experience is completely different.

Speaker 0

And there's lots of different reasons why.

Speaker 0

And so I thought we'd just kind of delve into what makes a game like that happen.

Speaker 0

And I'll give I'll give a really easy example, then we can delve into some some bigger ones.

Speaker 0

But about a month ago, I played Camp Grizzly again for the second time.

Speaker 0

You know, the Kickstarter had finished.

Speaker 0

It had delivered.

Speaker 0

And so I was a little hesitant to play it a second time because the first time we played it with the original version did not care for it at all.

Speaker 0

And so we played the second time and I had a lot more fun.

Speaker 0

And part of it was because I now knew what to expect.

Speaker 0

And I was talking with the guys I played with the first time yesterday, and the other issue was that we were right off the bat trying to look up some sort of rule at the beginning of the game and could never find a definitive answer for it in the rule book.

Speaker 0

And that was so insanely frustrating to me because I didn't know if we were playing right or not.

Speaker 0

And if...

Speaker 0

And the game wasn't going as smoothly as I was kind of hoping to.

Speaker 0

So fast forward, you know, six months to a year later playing the new version, the rules are roughly the same, but they're written better.

Speaker 0

And we didn't have that experience, and I was able to just kinda lean in on just the wackiness of the game itself.

Speaker 0

And now I find it far more enjoyable.

Speaker 0

And and, you know, in essence, the game itself didn't change, but my experience changed completely.

Speaker 0

And so there's a lot of games that that that kind of thing can happen, and a lot of different reasons why as well.

Speaker 0

所以……

So...

Speaker 0

但是……

But but...

Speaker 0

So I I kinda feel like there's different categories where this happens in a game because, you know, we'll take something like, oh, well, let's just take Castles of Burgundy for an example.

Speaker 0

The second time you play it, you have a little more knowledge of what's going on, but there's still so many options in the game and so much going on in that game that your second play is only gonna be, I feel, slightly different than your first play.

Speaker 0

You're just gonna iteratively get better or at least have a better idea of strategies and tactics.

Speaker 0

Would you would you agree?

Speaker 0

You can disagree, by the way.

Speaker 2

不。

No.

Speaker 2

I would absolutely agree.

Speaker 2

When I was thinking of this question, I was thinking, well, that's most heavyweight board games, and I play a lot of heavyweight crunchy euros, big games.

Speaker 2

But I understand the game pretty much.

Speaker 2

The second time, I'm just thinking strategy, like how to win or how to be better or how to go a different route.

Speaker 2

And I looked at something completely different for this question.

Speaker 2

I had a lot of fun with it.

Speaker 0

That's even better.

Speaker 0

What was your viewpoint of it?

Speaker 2

I was thinking games that I did not understand the first time or understand the scoring or did not know what to expect.

Speaker 2

And the second time, it was an moment at scoring or somewhere during the game.

Speaker 2

And obviously then I liked it far better the second time.

Speaker 0

Excellent.

Speaker 0

So what are some examples?

Speaker 0

They Kinnitsia games by any chance?

Speaker 2

Oh, I do like Kinnitsia, most Kinnitsia games.

Speaker 2

但是……

But...

Speaker 2

不是。

No.

Speaker 2

The first one was gonna be Moon Colony Bloodbath because I had not done...

Speaker 2

I played it, like, at a convention before it even came out.

Speaker 2

And I'm gonna tell you half.

Speaker 2

I was like, oh, Tableau Builder having the time of my life because I love that.

Speaker 2

I love simultaneous play.

Speaker 2

I love playing off one deck.

Speaker 2

I love the fact that I was putting in these very mean cards and getting these huge rewards.

Speaker 2

I did not, however, realize that it was going to

Speaker 0

Fall apart.

Speaker 2

The engine was gonna fall apart.

Speaker 2

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 2

Until halfway through the game, and I...

Speaker 2

There was a real moment where I said, oh, I've...

Speaker 2

Did not see this coming, and I like it even better because of it.

Speaker 2

I have a blast with that game, but that is one game that I very much the second time, not only was I better at it, but I understood it way better.

Speaker 0

That is a primo example because we had the exact same experience.

Speaker 0

We we were on a board game cruise.

Speaker 0

My wife and I, we're like, oh, let's play this.

Speaker 0

This sounds this sounds fun.

Speaker 0

We liked, you know, we liked the Dominion.

Speaker 0

Let's give this a go.

Speaker 0

And I wasn't really sure where the bloodbath came in in the story.

Speaker 0

But so...

Speaker 0

We start playing and then, yeah, you're exactly right.

Speaker 0

You're like, oh, this is great.

Speaker 0

I've got this on hand.

Speaker 0

And then it all falls apart.

Speaker 0

And you realize it will always all fall apart.

Speaker 2

对。

Yes.

Speaker 2

Now when I teach it, I tell people this is a...

Speaker 2

Because this is an engine builder, you're gonna have a blast with that and be prepared that this engine will...

Speaker 2

That there's bloodbaths for reason.

Speaker 2

它会……

It will...

Speaker 2

You will end up with two to three people still living in your colony, and if so, you've done a really great job.

Speaker 2

That's how it's designed.

Speaker 2

So they know upfront, but I have the the best time with that game.

Speaker 0

It is...

Speaker 0

It's really funny because it's...

Speaker 0

It doesn't ever really let you know what's going to happen even though it's right in the title.

Speaker 0

Moon colony bloodbath.

Speaker 0

And there's a lot of tongue in cheek sort of, you know, art where these weird things are happening.

Speaker 0

And you're like, oh, let's put a robot in.

Speaker 0

And you're like, well, this robot apparently kills people.

Speaker 0

And you look at the rest of the robot deck, you're like, they all kill people.

Speaker 0

Oh, okay.

Speaker 0

Now I see what's going on here.

Speaker 0

And the other thing that sort of surprises me about that game is normally, especially in an engine builder like that, I love to build my engine and run my engine and just take satisfaction in building and running something successfully.

Speaker 0

And this game will, you know, will let you do that for the first two or three turns and then says, alright.

Speaker 0

The wheels are about to come off, but it's still fun.

Speaker 0

And, so I think, yeah, that is just an amazing, an amazing example.

Speaker 0

I, so I kinda put three sort of categories that kinda cause this effect.

Speaker 0

One is just learning about the game, game knowledge, and I think Moon Colony Bloodbath is a is a good example of that.

Speaker 0

The other is understanding the tactics and the strategy in the game.

Speaker 0

In most of the games that you play, that becomes apparent early on in the game.

Speaker 0

But there are some where it's not until the end where you understand, oh, what I did in the beginning really had a big impact at the end.

Speaker 0

And so it kinda changes how you would play it.

Speaker 0

And we'll talk about some of those here in a minute.

Speaker 0

And then the last one is just preconceived notions.

Speaker 0

I know I expected x, and I ended up getting y.

Speaker 0

And there's a lot of times where that will just kill your desire.

Speaker 0

At least for me, it'll just kill my desire for the game because I was like, oh, what I wanted to do was this, but the game doesn't...

Speaker 0

Isn't built like that at all.

Speaker 0

Do you have any, any other categories or thoughts on your mind...

Speaker 0

On your end for that?

Speaker 2

有。

I did.

Speaker 2

I I was thinking the same thing.

Speaker 2

I think we're kind of in the same route, with what makes a game feel like, you know, this is not what I expected.

Speaker 2

The next one I had that really threw me for a loop, and to this day, I cannot teach this game successfully the first time around.

Speaker 2

It's definitely a two player.

Speaker 2

I would say we're gonna play with it the first time, then we're gonna actually play it the second time we play it.

Speaker 2

And that's far away because you play a deck of cards or you play eight cards in your tableau left to right to represent your journey.

Speaker 2

But the score when you score is backwards right to left.

Speaker 2

So you're setting these objectives you have to meet, but you've already played the cards to meet them.

Speaker 2

And it is very, it really throws the first time I'm like, I hate this game.

Speaker 2

I don't understand it.

Speaker 2

I was very upset.

Speaker 2

No matter how I teach it, it never goes well.

Speaker 2

It's always a bad experience.

Speaker 2

The second time we play it, it's always a great experience.

Speaker 0

对。

Yes.

Speaker 2

Have you played that one?

Speaker 0

I've watched it play, but I've never actually played it.

Speaker 0

But yeah, I love that idea.

Speaker 2

It is a very classic case of if you don't play the cards first two, three cards right, you could potentially score almost nothing.

Speaker 0

对。

Yes.

Speaker 0

You know, back in the in the eighties for when there were...

Speaker 0

When you're playing video games like the the online puzzle games or role playing games, it was notorious for if you didn't pick up this bread at the...

Speaker 0

In the beginning of the game, you know, three quarters of the way through, you're gonna find out, oh, you needed that.

Speaker 0

You're dead.

Speaker 0

So you gotta start over kind of thing.

Speaker 0

And you don't see it too much now in game design, obviously, but it does pop up in board games every now and then.

Speaker 2

Oh, I...

Speaker 2

The last game I...

Speaker 2

Exactly.

Speaker 2

I know exactly what you're talking about.

Speaker 2

The last game I played like that was Food Chain Magnet.

Speaker 0

Oh, yes.

Speaker 2

I made some one, bad decisions first off and, it never recovered.

Speaker 0

That's that's a...

Speaker 0

That's an interesting...

Speaker 0

It made me think because there's sometimes there's games where I'm just behind the whole time, and it's not because I'm playing poorly.

Speaker 0

It's because I'm just not as optimally playing as the others.

Speaker 0

I'm thinking like heat.

Speaker 0

There are some games of heat where, you know, I'm just last all the time, and there's nothing I can do to get ahead, but I'm not playing super poorly.

Speaker 0

But then there's other games where, you know, it's like, I'm playing...

Speaker 0

I should be...

Speaker 0

My score should be higher.

Speaker 0

It should be more accurately representing how well I'm playing this game.

Speaker 2

That's funny.

Speaker 0

So I I had two completely different games for two completely different versions of this.

Speaker 0

We'll call it a phenomena.

Speaker 0

So let's start with the easy one, and that is Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective.

Speaker 0

Have you ever played any other Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective?

Speaker 2

没有。

I haven't.

Speaker 0

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 0

So the concept is real simple.

Speaker 0

You are...

Speaker 0

You have a a Holmesian mystery that you have to solve.

Speaker 0

There's all kinds of evidence and clues, and you need to go around London talking to certain people and trying to figure out what the mystery is.

Speaker 0

And, you know, there's a book that you kinda follow through on that.

Speaker 0

Meanwhile, Sherlock Holmes is doing the exact same thing.

Speaker 0

So when you finally have solved the mystery, you compare how quickly and how well you did it to how well Holmes does it.

Speaker 0

It's like, oh, this is kind of fun.

Speaker 0

My wife and I like solving mysteries.

Speaker 0

So we break it out.

Speaker 0

We go and we solve the first mystery and we feel pretty good.

Speaker 0

And let's just say our our score was like a 60 or something like that, and low is better.

Speaker 0

So then we turn...

Speaker 0

好。

Alright.

Speaker 0

Let's see how Holmes does.

Speaker 0

Well, little did we know Holmes always does it perfectly.

Speaker 0

So, know, his was like a 15 or something like that.

Speaker 0

Oh, wow.

Speaker 0

Okay.

Speaker 0

So we have now learned that it doesn't matter.

Speaker 0

We're not competing with Holmes because we'll never beat them.

Speaker 0

So now it's just let's enjoy the mystery kind of thing.

Speaker 0

And so now that we sort of learned about the game, now we can we can enjoy it more.

Speaker 2

Yeah, I love that.

Speaker 2

I am especially on the crunchier harder games, I am know for a fact and I'll say as I'm learning a game, I'll say this isn't optimal, but I'm gonna have fun or I wanna try out every part of the game or every mechanic.

Speaker 2

And then the second time I play it, maybe I'll just go one route or make sure, you know, that I score one track or go all in on a strat.

Speaker 2

But I like to enjoy the whole game, and that doesn't serve me well as far as scores go sometimes.

Speaker 0

Hey.

Speaker 0

If they give me a bunch of buttons and dials, I wanna push and turn them all.

Speaker 2

I mean, I have said they...

Speaker 2

The game was meant to be enjoyed, and I wanna enjoy all of it, especially if I'm gonna tell somebody whether or not they should play it.

Speaker 0

确实。

Definitely.

Speaker 0

So the next the the next game that I wanna talk about completely opposite of that is code names.

Speaker 0

And we could have thrown in Hanabi or Bombusters as well.

Speaker 0

But the idea here is not so much that the gameplay changes over time, but if you play with the same people over time, you end up building up a...

Speaker 0

Almost a second language or assumptions of how to play within your group.

Speaker 0

And, you know, I know how you think, and so therefore, when you give a clue about something, I have a better way of tying it all together kind of kind of way.

Speaker 0

And you almost...

Speaker 0

Like, Hanabi is is almost the the worst about this because if you play it a lot with the people, you end up developing almost a shorthand to communicate how the cards are laid out in your opponent or your...

Speaker 0

They're not opponents, your compatriot's hands.

Speaker 0

Because of the way you're like this, oh, it's it's a two.

Speaker 0

And just using inflection helps you know that, oh, okay.

Speaker 0

I don't need to worry about that card, you know, these kinds of things, that just sort of build up organically over time by playing with the same people in these kinds of games.

Speaker 0

Have you experienced that yourself in in in games like that,

Speaker 2

game gaming?

Speaker 2

Absolutely.

Speaker 2

Absolutely.

Speaker 2

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 2

It's actually code names that, you triggered for me when you were talking about that because that's the last time.

Speaker 2

We played a code game, that legacy critical role game, and we played it all the way through, which we were not good with the characters.

Speaker 2

Also, I didn't know these people, I was at a convention.

Speaker 2

We played the entire game and by the end, we were just in sync like a real team would be, just knocking out.

Speaker 2

We won the whole thing, it was a blast.

Speaker 2

I'm still friends with them to this day, so it was time well spent.

Speaker 2

I had a really good time with them.

Speaker 0

That is awesome.

Speaker 0

So you played the Legacy game with strangers all the way through, and they weren't strangers by the end.

Speaker 0

That is fun.

Speaker 2

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 0

That reminds me actually the last token con we went to.

Speaker 0

My wife and I wanted to play Ito with people we didn't know because we've only played it with people we knew, and so giving clues and whatnot were were fairly straightforward.

Speaker 0

And so this one was real interesting because it was just another couple we just kind of met in the library and sort of browbeat them into playing with us.

Speaker 0

And like the husband thought like my wife and I did, but the...

Speaker 0

His wife was just kind of, I'll say at left field.

Speaker 0

There was nothing wrong with her answers, but she wasn't in sync with the rest of us.

Speaker 0

And it was just kind of an interesting...

Speaker 0

To me, it was sort of an interesting social experiment just to kinda see these games where you have to internally rate things, and you don't know how another person values anything because you don't know anything about them other than they like games like you do.

Speaker 2

没错。

Exactly.

Speaker 2

I mean, really...

Speaker 2

We really learned a lot about each other and had some...

Speaker 2

It's a camaraderie or when you beat something like that or when you reach a combined goal with people.

Speaker 2

Like I said, they're still friends today.

Speaker 2

Still messaged them and had a best time with them.

Speaker 2

One of the, it's funny that you bring that up too because one of them said medium for one of the clues.

Speaker 2

They said medium three and...

Speaker 2

Or large, and then they changed it to large.

Speaker 2

We're like, but all of those are very crit.

Speaker 2

Like, it could be...

Speaker 2

I don't...

Speaker 2

You know, like, it was it was pretty much everything on the board could have been that.

Speaker 0

That's funny.

Speaker 0

Let's see here.

Speaker 0

What other games do I have?

Speaker 0

Oh, so this one was an interesting one.

Speaker 0

It's a Turing machine.

Speaker 0

So in Turing machine, you're you're basically trying to figure out a code, and you can only ask yes or no questions and only specific types of yes or no questions, and the machine will give you the answers.

Speaker 0

And normally, it's a race amongst one another, but we like to play it cooperatively.

Speaker 0

But, you know, that game is like you just...

Speaker 0

That first game, you're just trying to understand what the heck how this thing even works because it's it's not complicated, but it is complex.

Speaker 0

Have you have you played Turing Machine?

Speaker 2

I have.

Speaker 2

I own it.

Speaker 2

It is my...

Speaker 2

I have five worst games I've ever played, and that is one of them because I am simply just not smart enough to play that game.

Speaker 2

I do not get it.

Speaker 2

And my husband codes for a living, and he finishes within the first one, two, three rounds of guessing.

Speaker 2

And I'm like, okay, game over.

Speaker 2

I still don't know one single digit.

Speaker 2

It's not the game's fault.

Speaker 2

The game is great.

Speaker 2

It's well executed.

Speaker 2

Whoever designed it, designed it very, very well.

Speaker 0

It's amazing.

Speaker 2

I just don't...

Speaker 2

I just can't do it.

Speaker 2

My brain doesn't think like that.

Speaker 0

I get it.

Speaker 0

I'm pretty much the same way with Trick Takers, to be honest with you.

Speaker 0

It's like, I know exactly what I'm supposed to be doing, and I'm always picking the...

Speaker 0

Not the best card for the time.

Speaker 0

It's just just the way my brain works, I think.

Speaker 0

So what other games have you had this sort of experience with this deja vu?

Speaker 0

不。

No.

Speaker 0

It's not even a deja vu.

Speaker 0

就是

It's

Speaker 2

The other one that I had is Ayers Children of the Sun, and I may be mispronouncing that, so I'm surely have lots of people telling me whether or not I'm pronouncing that correctly.

Speaker 2

But the players are traveling, picking up paths and trying to balance the sun and moon actions.

Speaker 2

The kicker to this game is the lowest score counts at the end, either your sun or moon, and there's a thousand different strats and paths you can take.

Speaker 2

And I did not realize until scoring that I had played that game completely wrong.

Speaker 0

You're like, man, I'm just rocking these suns, man.

Speaker 0

No one's gonna touch me.

Speaker 2

I thought I was doing so good.

Speaker 2

But you have to almost get them to almost touch, so you have to balance it out.

Speaker 2

I really...

Speaker 2

So long story short, the second time I played it, I was far better because I actually understood what was going going on in the scoring.

Speaker 0

See, and I think that's an interesting one.

Speaker 0

Games that have different type of scoring, I I mildly picked on Kenitzia because he often has the...

Speaker 0

Your score is the best of your second group, you know, or something like that.

Speaker 0

But anything that's not inherently, you know, the highest or lowest, if you don't sort of grasp how all the the numbers are making that work, yeah, you get to the end, you're like, oh, well, if I had known that or if I had realized that, I would have, you know, done something different.

Speaker 0

And so, hopefully, it's the game you're like, alright.

Speaker 0

Let's do it again.

Speaker 0

Let's just play it right now.

Speaker 0

Now that we know it, let's play it again.

Speaker 2

I would have to play that one again.

Speaker 2

We have all three in this series.

Speaker 2

They're all good games, but that one threw me for a loop on the end.

Speaker 0

I bet.

Speaker 0

So let's look at something big.

Speaker 0

And by big, I mean, Gloomhaven.

Speaker 0

So, that game was real interesting because I think almost everybody experiences the...

Speaker 0

Has the same experience because they all play the same scenario...

Speaker 0

First scenario.

Speaker 0

But I just remember, you know, first of all, understanding how the game works.

Speaker 0

So you figure out the rules, and then there's this...

Speaker 0

The the scenario, and you open the door.

Speaker 0

And when you open the door, the monsters...

Speaker 0

There's like two or three monsters that just come out and following the AI, they just start, mauling you.

Speaker 0

And a very common question on BGG was like, well, how on earth do you win on the first, you know, the first scenario?

Speaker 0

And then you start to learn some of the nuances of the game.

Speaker 0

Oh, well, if you're invisible and then you're in the doorway, you actually block line of sight.

Speaker 0

It doesn't make sense, but that's how it works.

Speaker 0

And then you're like, oh, okay.

Speaker 0

And then you start kind of...

Speaker 0

You know, from that point forward, you start to understand the tactics that are involved in the game.

Speaker 0

Like, you already knew how to play, but now you understand the tactics, and and then you sort of go off from there.

Speaker 2

That's a great example of that.

Speaker 0

Do you do you remember...

Speaker 0

I assume you played Gloomhaven at least a little bit.

Speaker 2

I have.

Speaker 2

I have.

Speaker 2

Every time I play a boss battler, which I do love boss battlers, I always wanna play Cthulhu death may die.

Speaker 2

So I've almost gone to just playing Cthulhu death may die when I wanna play one of those types games, but it's the same exact thing.

Speaker 2

You get better as you go.

Speaker 2

You learn your characters as you go or what's gonna be best in battling what bosses.

Speaker 2

Have you played Cthulhu?

Speaker 0

I have not played Cthulhu.

Speaker 0

Death must die.

Speaker 2

Why?

Speaker 2

我……

I...

Speaker 2

I encourage you to do so.

Speaker 2

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 2

Now we have two games we gotta play.

Speaker 0

There we go.

Speaker 0

But I I I feel like those kinds of things are are more than just, oh, I need to learn how to, you know, how to play the game better.

Speaker 0

It's really...

Speaker 0

It kind of changes the the fundamental understanding of what's going on in the game as opposed to, oh, well, maybe I shouldn't have opened the door at this time.

Speaker 0

I should have opened the door later.

Speaker 0

You're like, when I open the door, I now understand the repercussions of whatever is in this particular room kind of thing.

Speaker 0

And then Gloomhaven's good because it's like, oh, you know, now that I've sort of really gotten the hang of this, oh, I could change characters up or, you know, of course, the story branches off into, I never have finished it now that I think about it.

Speaker 0

I get...

Speaker 0

I got somewhere and then it got stalled.

Speaker 0

And then now the thought of trying to figure out where I left off is kind of intimidating, so I might just have to start the whole thing over.

Speaker 2

How do you...

Speaker 2

I've been taking pictures some to try to help myself remember where we were.

Speaker 2

How do you keep track of that when you're playing a legacy and you haven't played for a while?

Speaker 0

Oh my gosh.

Speaker 0

这……

And that's...

Speaker 0

It's it's hard.

Speaker 0

I for Gloomhaven, I tried to find a there's like a a map of the scenarios.

Speaker 0

If you go from scenario one to two and then two branches to four or five and then I tried to kind of circle the the pathway that I want so that I kind of knew where I was.

Speaker 0

But, like, when we first played Pandemic Legacy season one, I wanna say there was maybe an 11...

Speaker 0

It took us eleven months to play the whole thing, and that's because there's, a six month gap.

Speaker 0

And so trying to remember what happened in those six months is is quite a bit of a challenge.

Speaker 0

I don't know.

Speaker 0

I'm worried because I have Iridia, and we're kind of in the similar boat.

Speaker 0

We're about halfway through it maybe, and we haven't played it for two or three months.

Speaker 0

And so it's gonna be a a big refresher of where we were when we last left off.

Speaker 2

一样。

The same.

Speaker 2

I posted recently that I just picked up my legacy game too after about nine months.

Speaker 2

I've only got...

Speaker 2

I'm down to three months left.

Speaker 2

You think we would have just finished it, but instead we waited almost a year to play it again.

Speaker 2

And we equally didn't know the characters didn't really...

Speaker 2

It took a minute to get reaccumulated to what was going on.

Speaker 0

我

I

Speaker 2

What powers we had or what what it would take to win.

Speaker 0

How does this game even work?

Speaker 0

I can't remember.

Speaker 0

Actually, I hadn't even considered that, but legacy games are a real interesting sort of version of this because it's not so much that now my knowledge or my thinking has changed, but actually the game itself will change.

Speaker 0

And so and so, yeah, one of our favorite legacy games was Betrayal Legacy.

Speaker 0

My son loves Betrayal and just embraces the the wackiness of it.

Speaker 0

And so playing the legacy game just enhanced the wackiness over and over again.

Speaker 0

And and...

Speaker 0

And as the game's kind of morphing along its its path, you're just kind of like, alright.

Speaker 0

Let's kinda roll roll with the changes there.

Speaker 0

And, of course, you know, like Pandemic Legacy, there's that major big, you know, shift number one that happens a couple of couple of months in.

Speaker 0

If you played it, you know what we're talking about.

Speaker 0

He was like, oh, it's gonna be that kind of game.

Speaker 0

I see.

Speaker 0

好的。

Alright.

Speaker 0

Do you have another game on your list that you wanted to talk about?

Speaker 0

If not, I've got a few more.

Speaker 2

I have one, but I figured everybody would say this.

Speaker 2

So, it's Spirit Island.

Speaker 2

And a 100%, had to play that a second time to truly grasp it and truly see what we're working with.

Speaker 2

Again, it's a...

Speaker 2

I don't know how to...

Speaker 2

I mean, everybody's played it.

Speaker 2

Also, that's a game where I tell people I don't like it.

Speaker 2

It's probably in my bottom 10.

Speaker 2

And they say, well, don't understand it.

Speaker 2

No, I do understand it.

Speaker 2

You can understand a game and know how to play it dislike I

Speaker 0

don't like it.

Speaker 2

All those things can exist.

Speaker 2

But every time I say that, that's what people say.

Speaker 0

I get that.

Speaker 0

Totally understand where you're coming at because there's multiple games where like, I get why people like it and I understand completely why I don't like it.

Speaker 0

I don't think it's necessarily a bad game, but it is not a game for me.

Speaker 0

So one that I was kinda debating about whether or not to put in here, but I I went ahead and did anyway, and that is, Terraforming Mars.

Speaker 2

Oh, that's one of my favorite games.

Speaker 0

我……

I...

Speaker 0

好。

Good.

Speaker 0

But the the thing with it, the second play that I really appreciated is that first of all, you have a better idea of the cards.

Speaker 0

Because when you first are learning the game, you just kind of understand how everything works and then...

Speaker 0

But you're not gonna go through that deck and understand what the cards are.

Speaker 0

So by the end of your first game, which will have taken quite a while because one of the things I think Terraforming Mars does really well is it just sets the end game when the players are effectively ready to end it.

Speaker 0

There's no arbitrary suddenly it's over.

Speaker 0

就是……

It's...

Speaker 0

就是……

It...

Speaker 0

Somebody's going to to know what they're doing.

Speaker 0

And so consequently, that first game usually takes a while, especially if everyone is new because, you know, they're just sort of moving along at the pace that they want to move at.

Speaker 0

And then after that, now you get it.

Speaker 0

好。

Okay.

Speaker 0

I see the different paths that I can take and, you know, I can lean more into the corporations that I happen to be in.

Speaker 0

And then it becomes not necessarily more competitive, although it certainly can, but it certainly becomes tighter, I think is a better way to put it.

Speaker 2

同意。

Agreed.

Speaker 2

Because Terror Mystic is is my top 10 and Terraforming Mars is on there too, but I agree.

Speaker 2

It's a super...

Speaker 2

I love that game.

Speaker 2

It's one of my top 10.

Speaker 2

Now Age of Innovation when it came out did take its place because I like Age of Innovation slightly better because it's like both that and Gaia Project like had a baby and made Age Innovation.

Speaker 2

So it took the things I like from both those games and added it to one, but it would be the same.

Speaker 2

You gotta know your fraction...

Speaker 2

Factions and how to No.

Speaker 2

Play to your factions after that, which you don't get on the first time.

Speaker 2

I don't even get it the first time I play the faction.

Speaker 2

I almost have to...

Speaker 2

我……

I...

Speaker 2

To really truly optimize a game, I have to play this...

Speaker 2

That not only that game, but that faction twice.

Speaker 0

Because it's it's not that they're subtle, but you don't understand the repercussions.

Speaker 0

Like, oh, so I can turn heat into, you know, whatever.

Speaker 0

I can't remember what that company does.

Speaker 0

Turns heat into money maybe.

Speaker 0

And you're like, well, yeah, but I need the heat to raise up the volume, you know, the temperature so I can get my thing later.

Speaker 0

Then at some point you realize, oh, at some point heat's a dead resource to you.

Speaker 0

This is where this guy really comes into play and whatever.

Speaker 0

So, and again, with the the permutations between the size of the deck and the number of corporations, and then if you add like Prelude, which why wouldn't you?

Speaker 0

Then it becomes it becomes a lot of neat little paths that you can take.

Speaker 0

And I think that's that's a big key here is like it's not a game where you're gonna play the same way every single time.

Speaker 0

You you start to kind of experience some of the different paths that make it make it kind of interesting.

Speaker 2

I think that's what keeps that on my list because it's an evergreen because it's always going to be exciting to me because I'm always going to try to do something different.

Speaker 0

And the other thing that I kind of like about it is that it is player dependent as well as the kind of experience you're going to have Because you may have a group of players that are like, oh yeah, we just want to kind of take our time and really, you know, build up our engine and then we'll we'll terraform Mars.

Speaker 0

Then there's, you know, other players that are like, it's a race and they're going to they're going to try and terraform it as quickly as possible.

Speaker 0

So you can almost tailor it to your sort of play style if you wish.

Speaker 0

So then there's one other sort of aspect of this kind of phenomena that that happens to me all the time, and I assume it happens to you as well.

Speaker 0

And that is you play the game and it's over and you're like, Now I get it.

Speaker 0

Let's play it again.

Speaker 0

And you play it again and you do horribly worse than you did the first time when you didn't know what you were doing.

Speaker 0

Brass Birmingham is one of the ones for me that does it.

Speaker 0

I'm like, oh, okay.

Speaker 0

I get it.

Speaker 0

I need the beer barrels.

Speaker 0

I need, you know, to build the trains, and I realize they're gonna go away and, you know, alright.

Speaker 0

Now I get it.

Speaker 0

And now that I think that I know what I'm doing, I start building more stuff and trying to do things and realize that my score is 20 points less than it was the first time I played when I didn't know what I was doing.

Speaker 2

I have had that happen.

Speaker 2

I'm trying to think of some games.

Speaker 2

I can't think of any off the top of my head, but I know that's happened to me too.

Speaker 0

So every once in a while, it's because the other players grabbed onto it faster than I did.

Speaker 0

But a lot of times, it's like, okay.

Speaker 0

Now I think this is an optimal strategy.

Speaker 0

And then as I start running, you know, three quarters of way through the game, I realize the limitations of the strategy that I've applied.

Speaker 0

And brass is particularly brutal about it because halfway through the game, everything you built kinda goes away or not everything, but at least all the connectivity that you built goes away.

Speaker 0

Like, oh, I gotta start from scratch again just as I got this the way I wanted.

Speaker 2

What you said made me think of Nucleum because the second time I played it, I had a really great strategy, but it blocks off because of player count, and I was going to blocked off areas.

Speaker 2

Like I had a huge plan to go to something that was blocked off at the top, so basically wasted two hours of my life like trying to get to somewhere that I can't even get to.

Speaker 0

对。

Yep.

Speaker 2

Like, I wasn't following it up properly.

Speaker 0

When I play some of the foreign maps, you know, non US maps on Ticket to Ride, that happens a lot.

Speaker 0

It's like, oh, I was going to Bremen.

Speaker 0

I thought I was going to Berman.

Speaker 2

I've never played foreign maps.

Speaker 2

哦。

Oh.

Speaker 2

That would be cool.

Speaker 0

They're pretty fun.

Speaker 0

We we really like to Marklin because it adds this passenger and stuff.

Speaker 0

So you're going all over Germany.

Speaker 0

But trying to keep track of what parts of Germany go where, it's a bit of a challenge sometimes.

Speaker 2

You've given me a lot of games on my list.

Speaker 2

I'm writing them down because I love new games.

Speaker 2

I love to play games.

Speaker 2

So this has been a fun experience for me.

Speaker 0

Fantastic.

Speaker 0

So then lastly, you've got the games that that, you have your preconceived notions.

Speaker 0

And I've said lastly probably three times in this conversation because I keep thinking of something else.

Speaker 0

But, for me, the classic example of this one was the...

Speaker 0

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 0

I'm gonna say Batman Gotham City Chronicles.

Speaker 0

I talk about this a lot where it's a really fun miniature game.

Speaker 0

You're Batman, and you're going up against, you know, Bane and all these bad guys, and and you got Robin and stuff.

Speaker 0

And what you wanna do is run around and beat up bad guys and do Bat man stuff.

Speaker 0

But what you're actually involved in is a really tight puzzle.

Speaker 0

And if you don't kind of follow through sort of the optimal strategy, you're gonna run out of time and you're not going to win.

Speaker 0

And the optimal strategy is often not beating up Bane, for instance, or or or whatever.

Speaker 0

And so there's a bit of a a disconnect there between what you think you wanna do with the game and then what you...

Speaker 0

The game actually wants you to do.

Speaker 0

And I would actually throw in the Marvel or DC United games as well where you're like, oh, I'm gonna be a superhero, and I'm gonna go fight the supervillains.

Speaker 0

And and you do that in a very abstract manner.

Speaker 0

You're you're you're collecting tokens or symbols to fill in boxes to, you know, do other things.

Speaker 0

And it it...

Speaker 0

It's superheroesque, but it's...

Speaker 0

I don't know that it actually feels like you're you're Batman or or Wolverine or or whoever.

Speaker 0

I don't know.

Speaker 0

Have you you experienced any of those issues with United?

Speaker 2

I own all United.

Speaker 2

Every card that's ever been made because I'm a completionist.

Speaker 0

That is a waste.

Speaker 2

They call me.

Speaker 2

I know they're real c list characters now, but I still...

Speaker 2

We're still buying them because, you know, why stop now?

Speaker 2

But don't know.

Speaker 2

I always fantasize that I am that character when I play it.

Speaker 0

Well, I'll definitely say the miniatures help a lot.

Speaker 0

And and and I don't want it to sound like the game isn't fun.

Speaker 0

I definitely enjoy the game.

Speaker 0

I just have to temper some of my superhero ness or superhero expectations.

Speaker 2

I like it because it is the puzzle.
