Hi, and welcome back to The Breakdown With Bethany.

Speaker 2

I'm Bethany Bronsilva, and today my guest is Maria Sansone.

Speaker 2

Maria is a veteran TV broadcaster, and she just wrote her first book, Oh What's for Dinner?

Speaker 2

It is truly a fantastic cookbook and we're gonna dive into how Maria came up with these fantastic recipes, all about her journey to television and to writing this book.

Speaker 2

So check it out.

Speaker 2

Maria, let's dive in.

Speaker 2

You and I have talked a few times and usually it's like the other way.

Speaker 2

You are the pro interviewer, woman extraordinaire, but I'm really excited to be talking to you.

Speaker 2

But for people who might not know who you are, you know, who might be living under a rock somewhere, give us some background about your, you know, your your journey to television and all of that.

Speaker 3

Oh my gosh.

Speaker 3

Never give a television personality the floor to tell a story about their life because you'll be like, gotta pick the kids up from school now.

Speaker 3

I'll try to give you the brief synopsis.

Speaker 3

I have been in the business a long time because I started in the television industry when I was 11 years old.

Speaker 3

So when I tell people, I've I've been in this business thirty years.

Speaker 3

I've seen it all.

Speaker 3

They're like, how is that possible?

Speaker 3

Did you start when you were, like, a kid?

Speaker 3

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 3

I actually did.

Speaker 3

So I got my start very, very young, completely by accident.

Speaker 3

I was at a basketball game, and I was involved in a slam dunk contest, and I got interviewed by a local television reporter.

Speaker 3

Boom.

Speaker 3

Boom.

Speaker 3

Boom.

Speaker 3

The rest is history.

Speaker 3

They put me on local TV, and, I was interviewing kids and things like that.

Speaker 3

Next thing you know, I got picked up by ABC Sports, and things kind of snowballed.

Speaker 3

I explain it as I kind of went viral before viral was a thing.

Speaker 3

So next thing you know, there was an article written about me in The Wall Street Journal.

Speaker 3

And then I came home from school one day, and my parents were like, we need you to sit down.

Speaker 3

We got a call from David Butterman, Jay Leno, Good Morning America, Dateline NBC.

Speaker 3

I was like, what?

Speaker 3

And so this was all within, like, three to six months' time that I got my start on this local TV station in Erie, Pennsylvania that I was a guest on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno for being the youngest sportscaster in the history of America.

Speaker 3

So I like to say I've lived, like, nine lives, you know, because that was that was then.

Speaker 3

And then I went and did normal high school.

Speaker 3

I went to Syracuse University.

Speaker 3

Kinda didn't know what I wanted to do with my life professionally.

Speaker 3

I was just loving, like, just being normal normal kid, doing the college thing.

Speaker 3

And then an opportunity came up to fill in for Kelly Ripa when she was pregnant with Lola.

Speaker 3

So she had just started with Regis, and she got pregnant kind of quickly, and they were looking for a college student to fill in.

Speaker 3

And I sent I made a tape.

Speaker 3

I it was ridiculous.

Speaker 3

I sent in a tape.

Speaker 3

They say there was 10,000 tapes that they received, which, you know, who knows?

Speaker 3

At this point, it's folklore because it was so long ago.

Speaker 2

So probably probably 10,000.

Speaker 2

I I yeah.

Speaker 3

And this was the advent of go online and vote.

Speaker 3

So because this was oh my gosh.

Speaker 3

I was in college.

Speaker 3

I was, like, I was twenty years old, so this is twenty something years ago.

Speaker 3

And so you had to go online and vote.

Speaker 3

And long story short, which I'm obviously not good at, I'm not good at soundbites.

Speaker 3

I'm used to getting sound bites.

Speaker 3

是的

Yeah.

Speaker 3

I got chosen, and I I I filled in for one day with Regis, and it changed my life forever.

Speaker 3

And it it made me realize that that was the path that I wanted to pursue.

Speaker 3

And because I wasn't a kid anymore.

Speaker 3

I was I was 20.

Speaker 3

I got there on my own merit.

Speaker 3

It wasn't because I was a novelty act anymore, and that was really special for me.

Speaker 3

And I really, really loved being in front of a live studio audience.

Speaker 3

And a lot of things happened on that day.

Speaker 3

One, I worked with a legend, but the other thing was I got my first laugh from a live studio audience.

Speaker 3

Did you

Speaker 2

it was like right.

Speaker 2

That was it.

Speaker 2

It was over.

Speaker 3

It's people describe it as a drug.

Speaker 3

Like, the it it's it truly I mean, there was nothing like it.

Speaker 3

So I'm constantly chasing chasing that feeling that I had that day on that platform.

Speaker 3

And so after that, I pursued TV, and I after college, got my first job as an MTV UVJ, where I traveled to campuses and got to live the college dream for a few more years and then went on to do a lot of red carpet stuff nationally.

Speaker 3

I was a red carpet correspondent for the Oscars and the Grammys and all that for years.

Speaker 3

Then I went on to work at NBC in New York, and then I went to LA and did Good Day LA, which was truly like the dream job.

Speaker 3

It's the the big morning show out in LA for people who don't know.

Speaker 3

And then had two kids and wanted to raise a family closer to family.

Speaker 3

And so we did the unthinkable in this industry.

Speaker 3

I mean, the pandemic has changed things, but at this even I mean, my son is six now, and he's my youngest.

Speaker 3

When he was born, I was like, we gotta get out of here.

Speaker 3

I have two kids now.

Speaker 3

You know?

Speaker 3

I just we've gotta be somewhere where we can raise a family.

Speaker 3

And people in our industry, you had to be in New York or in LA.

Speaker 3

Like, that's how it was.

Speaker 3

And I kind of was like, I don't care.

Speaker 3

I'm moving to a tiny, like, seaside sailing village outside of Boston and taking a gamble, and hopefully, we'll see what happens.

Speaker 3

I'm leading here with my heart for the first time and not with my career as a focus, and, the universe really responded in a nice way.

Speaker 2

I love that because you I mean, I I, you know, really discovered, you know, you in my own life for my own self, like, during the pandemic when you launched mom to mom.

Speaker 2

And it was really just this show that I think was so so needed, but just to pivot a little bit.

Speaker 2

So I'm actually writing a book and one of the chapters is bet on yourself.

Speaker 2

So I'm really excited to hear that you did that, that you led with your heart, you know, and it worked.

Speaker 2

Like you took a chance, you know your value, you know your skills, you know what you bring to the table.

Speaker 2

And I think personally any place would be lucky to have you and you found a home at NBC Boston.

Speaker 2

But okay, so just to go back a little bit, we first met.

Speaker 2

I, like, desperately pitched myself to be on mom to mom because I was like, I need to talk to this woman.

Speaker 2

She's so cool.

Speaker 2

And one of the things we discussed was burnout.

Speaker 2

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 2

And I know we're kind of you know, we're sort we're at, like, you know, the tail end.

Speaker 2

I don't know what you call this time, Like but how are you doing?

Speaker 2

I love to check-in with moms, working moms especially.

Speaker 2

Like, how are they how are you doing now with everything that that has happened?

Speaker 3

Today, I'm good.

Speaker 3

It's a it's a day to day.

Speaker 3

I I tend to get very overwhelmed, and that's something on mom to mom that we talk about all the time.

Speaker 3

I realize that's not unique to me.

Speaker 3

That's a common thread for a lot of women, a lot of moms, a lot of parents.

Speaker 3

And I think that during the pandemic, it really escalated, because of what was happening in our world, and people we loved were sick, people were dying.

Speaker 3

It was it was tough.

Speaker 3

You know?

Speaker 3

We all of a sudden became teachers.

Speaker 3

We were wearing, you know, 25 hats when we we normally wear a whole bunch, but this was next level.

Speaker 3

So, to make things more interesting, I decided to start writing a book during that time in a world which, you know, I mentioned how long I've been in the TV industry.

Speaker 3

As much as I know about television, that's how little I knew about being an author.

Speaker 3

I knew nothing about publishing.

Speaker 3

I knew nothing about pitching a a book or writing a proposal.

Speaker 3

But during the pandemic, I'm a very creative person, and I think that that that helped me get through the tougher times was to find those little pieces for me to just create.

Speaker 3

Like, I was ultra productive, maybe a little manic during those times if we were to sit down with a therapist.

Speaker 3

But that was the time that I found to sit down and bang out a proposal, which I never had time to do that.

Speaker 3

I never had the bandwidth for that, and so I was able to do that.

Speaker 3

But to answer your question, I mean, it's like it never ends.

Speaker 3

Know?

Speaker 3

My kids it's always something new.

Speaker 3

Just when I think we're turning a corner with either a, you know, a project professionally or something that's going on with the kids or something that's going on with the family, something else inevitably happens.

Speaker 3

So what I'm trying to do and what I've learned from all of the wonderful experts, including yourself that I've talked to over the years on mom to mom, is to lay some groundwork and get some systems in place for myself so that when things do happen, we're we're a little bit prepared.

Speaker 3

You know what I mean?

Speaker 3

Like, there there's a foundation there, including things like self care and, you know, talking to somebody and, you know, just staying organized or whatever it is that that makes you feel secure, because we don't know what's around the corner, aka the pandemic.

Speaker 3

Right?

Speaker 3

No one no one saw that coming, but we all have little versions of pandemics that go on on our lives on a daily.

Speaker 2

I mean, I think you're absolutely right.

Speaker 2

And something that I really admire about you is, like, your sense of humor.

Speaker 2

I think that you have a really great way to kind of, like, bring in a laugh when we maybe you're feeling low or burnt out or overwhelmed.

Speaker 2

So do your kids have that as well?

Speaker 3

I mean, if we couldn't laugh, we would all go insane in the words of our dear Jimmy Buffett.

Speaker 3

My kids are their sense of humor is very funny.

Speaker 3

So my daughter my daughter is in third grade, and I always called her her name is Grace, but I always called her serious Susan because she's just very serious.

Speaker 3

She's kinda hard to get a laugh out of.

Speaker 3

So if I get a laugh out of Grace, I know, like, okay.

Speaker 3

She has a dry sense of humor in this.

Speaker 3

She's very intellectual, and so she likes, like, clever humor and things, but she's very dry.

Speaker 3

Tougher to get a laugh out of.

Speaker 3

My son, on the other hand, prefers a little bit more slapstick.

Speaker 3

Goofball, comedy.

Speaker 3

And he is he likes to make people laugh.

Speaker 3

He likes to entertain.

Speaker 3

He likes to be the goofball, and he's the baby of the, you know, the family.

Speaker 3

He's five.

Speaker 3

He's in kindergarten.

Speaker 3

He's young for kindergarten, so he's he's five and a half.

Speaker 2

Oh my gosh.

Speaker 2

I love doing it.

Speaker 2

好的。

Alright.

Speaker 2

So let's talk about the book because Okay.

Speaker 2

When I was reading it, I was shocked to find out that you're not a professionally trained chef because as long as I've been following you on Instagram, like, you've been you've been throwing together these incredible recipes.

Speaker 2

And so I was shocked, and I went through every single recipe.

Speaker 2

I'm telling you, okay.

Speaker 2

The lazy lasagna, 100% making that this week or next.

Speaker 2

But, like, tell us about the book.

Speaker 2

Tell us about the inspiration of just know, you said you mentioned you were putting it together in the pandemic.

Speaker 2

So tell us how it came to fruition.

Speaker 3

Well, I'm so surprised to hear that too because I feel like I always wanna be completely authentic to what I am and what I do, and what I am is truly a home cook.

Speaker 3

Like, I just I love to cook at home.

Speaker 3

I love to throw stuff together.

Speaker 3

I find the kitchen to be a really relaxing place for me, and I know that that's not the case for a lot of people.

Speaker 3

And I know it's not the case for a lot of moms who are coming home and finding that 05:00 is their toughest time a day, and I wanna change that.

Speaker 3

I want to empower people and let them know that, like, guys, it's not that complicated.

Speaker 3

We can do this.

Speaker 3

There are cookbooks out there that make you feel like this is really complicated, and they have millions of ingredients, and those books are great.

Speaker 3

I consider those like my, like, cocktail dresses.

Speaker 3

My book is your your comfy pair of worn out jeans with the holes in it that you feel really good in and are really comfortable that

Speaker 2

you could wear five times in a row right like in one week

Speaker 3

and not wash.

Speaker 3

This is the book that you're pulling out.

Speaker 3

I I am so happy because now that the book I'm pretty much the only one that has it so far because it hasn't been released yet, and I got an early copy.

Speaker 3

Bethany, I cook out of this book four days a week.

Speaker 2

I love it.

Speaker 3

The days I'm cooking, I'm cooking out of this book.

Speaker 3

I am I feel like it's a success because I have I have it for me now.

Speaker 3

Like, this is my my go to.

Speaker 3

But the really, the the way it happened was very organic.

Speaker 3

When my son was born so I now had two kids, and I told you I had this job I absolutely loved in LA and, on the morning show.

Speaker 3

It was, like, the show, the it show.

Speaker 3

I got the job.

Speaker 3

I beat out all these people to get it, and I had this wonderful job.

Speaker 3

And now I'm pregnant with my son, and I got cut from the show.

Speaker 3

And I didn't really see it coming.

Speaker 3

It was really kind of traumatic, but I kinda didn't have time to deal with it because I was pregnant with my son.

Speaker 3

I really, really had a lot of I had a hard time getting pregnant in between, had a lot of miscarriages.

Speaker 3

Just like I had the blinders on.

Speaker 3

Like, my my thing right now is to get this family situated, have a healthy pregnancy, have a healthy baby.

Speaker 3

So I couldn't couldn't process what had just happened.

Speaker 3

It was really hard, but I couldn't process it.

Speaker 3

So once my son was born, now I have, like, a six month old son, and I've got a four year old daughter, and I really missed connecting with my audience.

Speaker 3

I missed live TV so much, and I was getting messages from from people who used to watch me every day who were like, what where'd you go?

Speaker 3

And between postpartum anxiety and, you know, having two kids and losing a job, I didn't even know what to do.

Speaker 3

And so I did what I do.

Speaker 3

I was just in my kitchen cooking, which I do every single night, and I thought, I'm gonna just do this Facebook Live thing and see what happens.

Speaker 3

So I had Benny on my hip, basically.

Speaker 3

I had Gracie sitting up on the countertop as she always was, and I just flipped the phone around on me, and I was like, hey.

Speaker 3

We're making spaghetti carbonara.

Speaker 3

My daughter's like, spaghetti carbonara.

Speaker 3

She kept interfering and everything.

Speaker 3

I'm like, shh.

Speaker 3

We're alive.

Speaker 3

And to my surprise, people loved it.

Speaker 3

And so I started doing it every week, and it really fulfilled the need for me to kind of, like, do that live TV and get that adrenaline and connect with the fans again and, like, let them know where I was.

Speaker 3

And they absolutely loved being in the kitchen with me.

Speaker 3

And, really, I was shocked because each week I would put out a little poll and I'd say, what should we make?

Speaker 3

Do you want me to make quick and easy chili, or do you want me to make you know?

Speaker 3

And I would name something that was a little bit more advanced because I thought everyone can make chili that mean, my chili is five ingredients.

Speaker 3

And each week, to my dismay, they would choose the quick and easy simple meal.

Speaker 3

And then, you know, I continued to do this for years through the pandemic and everything.

Speaker 3

Through the move from LA to my in law's house before we were before we moved into this house, like, were living with my in laws, I was still committed to doing the live cooking shows every single week, so it changed so many times.

Speaker 3

But the one thing that was consistent was I would get messages all the time like, your chili is in my rotation each week because it's so easy.

Speaker 3

Your spaghetti carbonara is in my rotation.

Speaker 3

I make it, like, twice a month.

Speaker 3

And so I saw this pattern, and I always wanted to write a cookbook.

Speaker 3

I always wanted to write a book, but I didn't know my angle.

Speaker 3

It was right in front of my face the whole time, the whole time, but it wasn't until literally my viewers had to say to me, listen.

Speaker 3

Are you gonna put all these into a cookbook?

Speaker 3

You've been doing this for three years.

Speaker 3

Where can we find them?

Speaker 3

They had to slap me across the face with it.

Speaker 3

And finally, I thought, oh, there's my angle.

Speaker 3

Quick and easy weeknight dinners.

Speaker 3

That's what you guys want.

Speaker 3

So I finally it just it took it was it was just talking to everybody and realizing that there was a need for this within my own friend groups.

Speaker 3

I'm shocked that women my age who have a bunch of kids, they don't feel confident that they can put a meal on the table.

Speaker 3

Like, they don't feel they know how to do it.

Speaker 3

And I just want to say, you can.

Speaker 3

It's not that complicated.

Speaker 3

We need to debunk how how unapproachable food has become in some ways.

Speaker 3

So I just I wanna make it easy.

Speaker 3

I wanna make it fun.

Speaker 3

I wanna make this dinner time not so stressful for everybody and kinda, like, get that off the table because we have enough stress out there.

Speaker 2

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 2

I mean, I did go through and the recipes are easy and it's such so such vibrant pictures that when I do get, like, my hard copy, I just plan to keep it on my kitchen counter and kind of just, like, let my kids, like, pick.

Speaker 2

对。

Yes.

Speaker 2

It is kind of just like it feels like that to me.

Speaker 2

Not like like you said, this very, like like, fancy schmancy cookbook.

Speaker 2

This is like a book you don't put away.

Speaker 2

Like, it's there, and it's like, here's what here's the plan for the week.

Speaker 2

Like, you you guys have a say, and then maybe we could do it together, you know, like how you do it it with great sources.

Speaker 2

And so I

Speaker 3

I I wrote this to be a kitchen table book.

Speaker 3

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 3

You know?

Speaker 3

Like, this is meant to be in the trenches with you.

Speaker 3

It's a beautiful book, and I believe me.

Speaker 3

I spent a fortune on, like, making sure the photos were fabulous.

Speaker 3

I was at every single photoshoot, like, busting with everything.

Speaker 3

It's a beautiful book, but I'm I'm mean for it to be in the trenches with you.

Speaker 3

I wanna see it earmarked.

Speaker 3

I wanna see grease stains on it.

Speaker 3

Like, this book will be with you on The Daily.

Speaker 3

And one of the things I recommend, because I know it can be really hard, you've worked all day, your hair's on fire, you've got smoke coming out of your ears.

Speaker 3

It's Tuesday night, it's 05:30, you're driving home from work, and you're like, oh, shit.

Speaker 3

What's for dinner?

Speaker 3

So what I recommend actually is when you get the book and you have a little time, like, on a Sunday night or when the day before you do your grocery shopping, like, sit down and let the kids get involved because then they'll feel more involved with dinner, and they might wanna actually eat it.

Speaker 3

Let everybody kinda go through it.

Speaker 3

Figure out what you're gonna eat for the week.

Speaker 3

Make yourself a little list.

Speaker 3

Figure out, like, your meal plans for the week.

Speaker 3

See if where you can double dip.

Speaker 3

See where you can use leftovers.

Speaker 3

I even have I've suggested ways that you can, like, reinvent some of the meals, some of the sauces that you can make, like, on a Sunday, and then you've got what I call money in the bank for the rest of the week.

Speaker 3

I do recommend, like, getting a little bit ahead of it so it's not a total stress.

Speaker 3

But if you do find yourself in a situation where you're, oh, shit.

Speaker 3

What's for dinner?

Speaker 3

You just pick this up too because the meals are, like, twenty minutes.

Speaker 3

Some are fifteen, thirty.

Speaker 3

There's one that's 10.

Speaker 3

I mean, this is for in a pinch.

Speaker 2

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 2

And it's just you know, I have to just and I speak for my own experience because I didn't grow up with a mother who cooked, and, you know, my husband did.

Speaker 2

So it was always kind of like a point of contention for us.

Speaker 2

But once I did sort of, you know, taking that time in the kitchen, you know, it's, you know, it's love and hate obviously, but I was it was was really fulfilling and empowering to see see my family eat something that I made.

Speaker 2

So I'm really trying to get my hands on this book.

Speaker 2

And something that you do mention also or what and I'm I don't know if you even mentioned it outright, but, like, food is such an experience.

Speaker 2

Right?

Speaker 2

You talk about your grandparents.

Speaker 2

You recommend a certain kind of tomatoes that you want us to get.

Speaker 2

Like, it's a whole thing from our sensory to our memory.

Speaker 2

Talk to me a little bit about that because I think that we kinda know it, but we don't, like, know it

Speaker 3

懂。

know it.

Speaker 3

Oh, it gives me chills when you say that because I'm a very like, smell and taste really takes me back.

Speaker 3

Like, I can walk past someone wearing a certain type of perfume, and it brings me back to a certain place.

Speaker 3

Or I can smell spring coming, and it takes me back to being a kid and playing outside.

Speaker 3

Like, that's how I that's how I find memories in my file cabinet, and taste and smell go hand in hand.

Speaker 3

And I grew up in my I was so blessed.

Speaker 3

I grew up with both sets of grandparents two blocks away from me.

Speaker 3

I was, like, sandwiched in between my maternal and paternal grandparents.

Speaker 3

So jackpot right there.

Speaker 3

I spent a lot of time with my maternal grandmother, and she was the cook.

Speaker 3

I pull from a lot of different people in my family, but I learned a lot from her because we spent My parents worked in retail, so they worked six days a week.

Speaker 3

They worked really long hours.

Speaker 3

They owned a bridal shop, so they were very busy doing that.

Speaker 3

And so I got to hang with my grandma, and she made three square meals a day and a pie every day, Bethany.

Speaker 3

And people think that's not true.

Speaker 3

I'm like, this woman made a pie every day of her life.

Speaker 3

I don't know where they went.

Speaker 3

My grandfather was skinny as could be.

Speaker 3

I don't know where where these pies were going.

Speaker 3

She'd bring them to neighbors and things, but she loved being in the kitchen.

Speaker 3

And I called it Italian preschool because I would sit there with her, and we would cook, and we would talk, and she would play the music on the radio, and we it was just a wonderful experience.

Speaker 3

So so many of these recipes take me back to that little kitchen with my grandma.

Speaker 3

And I explain a lot of this in the book, how each of these things, take me back.

Speaker 3

And so just writing this really put me back in touch with my my all my grandparents had passed away now.

Speaker 3

They were they were old even when we were they were always old grandparents.

Speaker 3

Like, people had, like, young grandparents.

Speaker 3

Mine were always, like, pushing a 100.

Speaker 3

So it it's really taken me back.

Speaker 3

And when I cook and I smell garlic, it takes me right to my paternal grandparents' house.

Speaker 3

Like, I can smell them cooking sauce on Sundays.

Speaker 3

And so I think that's why I personally love being in the kitchen so much.

Speaker 3

I have actually found days when I'm really stressed that I can go in there and decompress, put music on, just start.

Speaker 3

I love to create.

Speaker 3

I love to make something out of nothing.

Speaker 3

And and so for me, it's it's a stress reliever.

Speaker 3

And so I feel so bad when there's people out there that are like, dinner is my point of contention.

Speaker 3

Dinner is the time when I'm, like, insane.

Speaker 3

It's my trigger.

Speaker 3

And so that's what I'm trying to to help people with.

Speaker 3

I hope that they can find some peace in the kitchen like I have.

Speaker 2

I love that.

Speaker 2

I love that.

Speaker 2

And certainly, I think with this book, you know, we will because like I just like I said, just like it doesn't it feels so approachable.

Speaker 2

But I have to ask also I mean, you might not be able to pick, but I think we all wanna know, like, what's your favorite what's your favorite thing

Speaker 3

to cook?

Speaker 3

Oh my goodness.

Speaker 3

Oh gosh.

Speaker 3

There's, like, so many categories.

Speaker 3

There's the things I cook all the time, then there's my favorite things.

Speaker 3

Tonight, I'm making the egg roll bowl, which was a big hit when I did it live for my audience way back when.

Speaker 3

And it's basically all the things you love from an egg roll but dumped into a bowl, and it takes no time.

Speaker 3

And the kids are gonna help me, and and that's easy.

Speaker 3

I'd say the crown jewel, really, of the book is the Sansone Sundae sauce, which is kind of it almost didn't make the book because the whole premise is quick and easy weeknight dinners.

Speaker 3

Right?

Speaker 3

No fuss recipes you're gonna swear by that you can cook in twenty to thirty minutes.

Speaker 3

The Sansone Sundae Sauce, which I make every Sunday practically, takes three hours.

Speaker 3

So that doesn't really go with this.

Speaker 3

However, I just felt like and anyone who follows me on Instagram sees my sundae.

Speaker 3

It's ceremony.

Speaker 3

It's like going to church.

Speaker 3

It's you know, you make the sauce.

Speaker 3

You stir the sauce.

Speaker 3

You smell the sauce.

Speaker 3

You know?

Speaker 3

It's like it just felt like I had I had to include it.

Speaker 3

And so I think that that's really the crown jewel for me because it's the backbone for a lot of other recipes.

Speaker 3

So if you do make that on Sunday, then you can make your lazy lasagna on Monday.

Speaker 3

You could do some meatballs maybe on Thursday.

Speaker 3

You know, I make enough so that I have a pint that I can put either in the freezer or the refrigerator.

Speaker 3

And like I said, we call that money in the bank.

Speaker 3

When I have sauce, homemade sauce in the refrigerator, that's money in the bank.

Speaker 3

But if the Sansone Sundae sauce doesn't work, I have a Monday Maria's Monday Marinara, which only takes, like, forty five minutes, forty minutes.

Speaker 2

So How fun was it to, like, name these things?

Speaker 2

I think you already had the sundae sauce named, I'm sure.

Speaker 3

是的

Yeah.

Speaker 3

So Sansone's Sundae Sauce.

Speaker 3

The the easiest thing, everything about this book had its own challenges because I had never done anything like this before.

Speaker 3

So each each chapter, so to speak, had its own set of interesting challenges.

Speaker 3

I loved the entire process.

Speaker 3

The only thing, though, that I would say is easy, because nothing about writing a cookbook is easy, the only thing that came super easy to me was coming up with the table of contents, which was one of the first things I did.

Speaker 3

What is going to be in this book?

Speaker 3

I sat in the backyard on a sunny day, and I wrote it down in, like, ten minutes because I just pulled I I drew upon everything that I had done the last three years or so with my Instagram audience and my my social media audience.

Speaker 3

I knew the ones that they liked.

Speaker 3

I knew the ones that resonated with them.

Speaker 3

So I just feel like I know I know my people so well that it just it just came together.

Speaker 3

Because I was like, oh, I wanna want, like, 10 chicken.

Speaker 3

I wanna want a handful of fish, and then we'll we're gonna have to have, like, beef and then some veggie options.

Speaker 3

So that's the what do I call that one?

Speaker 3

Meatless Meatless Monday chapter.

Speaker 3

And then just naming the chapters was so fun.

Speaker 3

Once we came up with the title of the book, then then I had really a a really good time, like, naming all the chapters in the food.

Speaker 3

It all just came together.

Speaker 3

The name came together at the very end too.

Speaker 3

That was the girl ski trip where the name itself.

Speaker 2

I love that.

Speaker 2

And then are we I'm sorry.

Speaker 2

Am I frozen a little bit?

Speaker 3

Oh, yeah.

Speaker 3

You're there.

Speaker 3

You were frozen, but you're good now.

Speaker 2

Well, this was so fantastic.

Speaker 2

Speaker 2

Maria, tell us where we can get it, and then also where where can we see you on our television?

Speaker 3

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 3

So the great thing about the book is it's available in all the places that you'll find them.

Speaker 3

So Pick Your Poison.

Speaker 3

It's available on Amazon.

Speaker 3

在Target.com、Walmart.com、BarnesAndNoble.com这些网站也都有。

It's available on target.com, walmart.com, barnesandnoble.com.
