And so, me and pastor Brown have a great opportunity to share, what the Bible says about it, maybe just from our own experiences too as well.

I'll start off.

Maybe I'll start off because I preached on this just recently.

And, you know, I just wanna first start off with this because I think we all have an opportunity to work in this life, and work is a huge part of our our life.

And Ecclesiastes nine ten says, whatsoever thy hand finds to do, do it with all your might.

But we also have to understand our limits.

Like, need wisdom in our goals, wisdom in our work, and this is what we're talking about today.

Wisdom on what to pick up.

Picking up whatever your hand finds.

And, so we have to have wisdom in that, because some things shouldn't even be picked up at all.

That's a good point.

I think, in life, when you're young, you wanna do everything.

Yeah.

I mean, your life is about investigation.

What can I do?

But as you get older, your life kind of morphs into concentration.

You you learn what you can do.
你学会了自己不能做什么。
You learn what you can't do.

You learn that some of the things you wanna do even, you shouldn't do.

Yeah.
你年纪越大，所做的事情就越少。
But what you do gets narrower at the older you get.

And then it's it's kind of a juxtaposition when you get to a certain age, you're kind of shocked that you do so little.

And you're kind of like, I used to do so much, but trust me, the doing part of your life is go starts to wane.

It starts to get narrower and narrower until at a certain point, it's really positive.

Cause I can really be I can excel at four or five things.

I can't excel at 300 things.

So the narrower helps me with focus.

But at a certain point, I'd be like doing one thing.

But I'm used to doing four things, which is another conversation.

But work, 480 times in the Bible.

Work and toil is mentioned.

So work is huge.

And we talked about this, I think, last week on Tuesday of Career and Calling, we said that work was part of the design of man.

Wisdom for work we say wisdom, we mean the Bible.

Ecclesiastes nine ten.

Not so much wisdom for work, but wisdom in work.

Like, wisdom as I'm doing work.

And we talk about our jobs, but it could be anything like you said in Ecclesiastes nine ten, anything, but wisdom in our jobs.

Sometimes what we do is just what we do.

But I need God's mind for it because maybe the way I do it needs to have a different moke motivation, different focus, a different intention.

Because here's the reality.

We are Christians, and our audience is Christian.

And we're in a world, and we and most of us don't have the opportunity to work for a Christian employer.

Sure.

Or most of us have a business.

Let's say we have a business.

Most of a business that employs Christians and non Christians.

So there's this blending, this mixing, this cultural countercultural blending where you have unsaved people and saved people, Christians and non Christians working in a in in the same environment.

Shared goals is, order.

Shared goals is, a certain amount of excellence and a moral integrity.

There's certain things that are shared goals with you, with anybody you work with.

But then there's different goals.

I wanna give the sister verse or the corollary verse to the Ecclesiastes nine ten.

It's so funny you brought that verse because I'm thinking of the New Testament version of that, which is first Corinthians ten thirty one, which says, whatever whatsoever you, whatever you eat or drink, whatever you shall do, do all to the glory of God.

So, okay, I find it with my hands and do it with all my might, but then the deeper motivation is that I'm also doing it to the glory of God.

The profit of the situation.

I'm I'm fully engaged.

And how many things in your life are you all the way in on?

Very few.

Like most of us struggle with being all the way into anything.

Yeah.

So Ecclesiastes nine ten says, all of you all the way in.

But second but but first Corinthians ten thirty one says, pump the brakes before you go all in, be selective what you're all in.
要谨慎选择你如何全心投入。
Be selective on how you're all in.

Like, okay, it's my job.

And maybe the the goals of my job are not, they're aligned somehow, they're shared goals.

Right?

Mhmm.

We want profitability.

We want a successful business or successful company.

Those are shared goals.

But then I have different goals that are personal goals that may not be the company's goals, this is where the rub comes in.

My goal is what is my goal?
认识神。
To know God.

Yeah.

Right?

So when I go on my job and give them eight hours or ten hours, that goal doesn't change.

What's my second goal?

To make God known.

So those are not shared goals.

Yeah.

And the rub for us as Christians, and this is where I really need God's wisdom.
当我在与神的关系中设定的目标，未必是我的工作所认同的目标时，我需要神的智慧。
I need God's wisdom when the goals that I have in my relationship with God are not necessarily shared goals of my job.
我该如何在职场中尊崇我作为基督徒的目标，而这些目标在职场中可能不被期待、不被接受，甚至不被允许？
How do I honor the goals that I have as a Christian while operating in a a work environment where those goals may not be wanted, accepted, or allowed?
所以我需要智慧来应对这种情况。
So I need wisdom in how to navigate that.

Yeah.

Right?

Like someone said to me, well, I wish I worked for the church.

Well, I'm kinda glad you don't.

Because if everybody works for the church, then who's gonna work in the world?

Where is the witness?
是的。
Yeah.

Where is the gospel at?
我认为基督徒应该在医疗行业、社会学领域、警察、消防员和教师中都有。
I I I think we should have Christians in the medical profession, the social sociology profession, policemen, firemen, teachers.
我们需要基督徒出现在生活的每一个领域。
We need Christians in every area of life.
为什么？
Why?
因为我们有与基督共享的独特目标，而这些目标可能不是其他人所共有的。
Because we have unique goals that are shared with Christ that may not be shared those opportunities.
如果我们没有被派往任何地方去担任大使，我们就不能在哥林多后书5章20节中说自己是大使。
And we can't say in second Corinthians five twenty that we're ambassadors if we haven't been sent out to any place to be an ambassador to.
你代表的是谁？
Who are you representing?
是的。
Yeah.

So we gotta there's nothing wrong with working in the world.

But part of what we're talking about today on the program that you're bringing out is I need wisdom for that.

But as Christians, we have a bigger purpose beyond that and is serving the Lord.

And this is amazing verse that we could maybe talk about a little bit.
罗马书12章11节。
Romans twelve eleven.

不要懒惰，要殷勤，心存热忱。
Be not slothful in business or zeal.
在灵里火热，服事主。
Fervent in spirit serving the Lord.

Mhmm.
所以第一点是：在事务或热忱上不要懒惰。
So one first point is not slothful in business or in zeal.
你要积极追求，比如在工作中行善、爱人。
So you're actively pursuing, you know, good works, love in your workforce.
嗯。
Mhmm.
第二点是热忱。
Number two is fervent.
这回到一句话：无论你手所找到的事，都要尽心去做。
And that goes back to just like whatever your hand finds a do, do it full heartedly.

Absolutely.
就像一种热忱的灵。
Like a fervent spirit.
‘热忱’这个词意味着沸腾或燃烧。
And that word fervent means boiling or on fire.

Mhmm.

Boiling over like there's energy.

It's energized by the Holy Spirit, and there's spiritual enthusiasm in your work.

And I love that.

Like, I could have that in my work field, or my place of work wherever I'm working.

Like, I could have just like this overall joy, even though maybe I'm a garbage man and I'm doing the same thing, the same routes.

Like, you never have, like, maybe a mailman you see and this guy's just so happy,

You got something going on because you're looking at jury duty and all these different Yeah.

You know, things, the same route every day, but there's great joy.

And that's an amazing to see someone just maybe just a low low job, but he has so much joy in it.

And so the third point is, and this is what that verse really points at, is serving the Lord.

And that's what gives purpose to the first point.

Not slothful business or zeal.

And too fervent spirit.

Serving the Lord is the purpose.

And so my our intentions as Christians, our purpose in our workforce is not, yes, we want to do a good job.

Whatever we have, like, do it with our full heart, but we also wanna include, add God, and and have a ministry in our work.

That's a good question.

That maybe that's the question I could bring back to you is how do you have a ministry in your work?

I mean, there's some jobs you can do that, because the job lends itself to you have permission in the conversation to go anywhere you want to.

And then there's some jobs where you might not have such an opportunity.

So how do you have a ministry in your work?

I would say, like, work is a I always think of work.

I don't know who told me this, but work is just a tool.

I don't want it to be my life.

And a lot of the world is put, I need to have a good job, a good career, and they focus on that.

Of an opportunity to serve me.

So when the job is your identity, okay, what's the number one place you look for validation?

So many people want validation for life choices at their workplace.

So I'm saying all this to say there's this tension that happens with a believer in a workplace because now a lot of people make different life choices, and the number one place they want validation is the workplace.

I know one person was telling me a story about how there was a female on their job who suddenly began to, to, identify as a man.
然后开了一次大型会议，大家都聚在一起，说：好吧。
And there was a big meeting, and I would talk gathered together and said, okay.

Now you have to call her the him.
这是强制性的。
And it was mandatory.
如果你不这么做，就构成歧视，因为这是他们为自己选择的称谓。
And if you didn't, it was a form of discrimination because they this is the title that they've assumed to call them.

So as a believer, on the one hand, we're called to love our neighbor.

But on the other hand, the scripture is very clear about gender design and sexuality.

So the difficulty comes when culturally people seek affirmation or validation in the workplace.

And where do you stand as a Christian?

That's the tension.

What's interesting is if your coworker was an alcoholic, you would not be forced to celebrate that life choice.

You don't have to be blow a trumpet and jump with the lunchroom table and start quoting Isaiah 53, but the consistency of your character.

And that's two things.

There's two things that are, that who I am in wisdom workplace is my calling and my character.

Was Aquila and Priscilla his intention?

They're not gonna be losing they're not they're gonna have a certain character, higher, higher standard of character than the other nonstate people.

But, unfortunately, today, we don't have that.

So Christians can Christians on the workplace often engage in the very same things that non Christians do.

And this is how I find wisdom in the workplace.

I walk in the character of God, the grace of God, and I express who the person of God.

I express the person of God through my interaction with people.

And they'll mock you.

They may test you.

Correct.

They'll tell dirty jokes around you.

They'll offer you drinks.

They'll they'll they might even hit on you.

They'll just try to draw you into sin because the goal is to corrupt you.
