But Rapp isn't the only one responsible for the inaccuracies that appeared in the story.

These apparently encouraging responses from John Baramond probably emboldened Rapp to continue telling his story and to sue Spacey in court.

So how do we square this assertion with the inaccuracy about Barrowman's age and his overall absence from the article?

Because if Vary had spoken to Barrowman, his story about Spacey would have been very, very different.

For a start, in the BuzzFeed article, Rapp recounted how Baraman, although he didn't name him, was just 17, below the age of consent and definitely below the legal drinking age.

This meant that Spacey was initially going out to dinner and a nightclub with two people who were legally minors.

It painted a picture that made Rapp's description of what allegedly happened all the more believable by setting up Spacey as someone who could behave inappropriately with teenage boys.

All very damning stuff.

It would have been difficult for Spacey and his legal team to rebut claims of inappropriate behavior against two minors who had similar stories but had not talked in twenty years.

Except that when Barreman was asked the most basic questions, it quickly became apparent that Rapp's description of Barman and his interactions with Spacey was completely wrong.

Here's Barman's vivid memory of that night given during his deposition.
