You informed mister Rapp that you had read in the British publication that he was suing mister Fowler, and he said, if you need if you need me, I will stand for you in court.
I didn't feel threatened.
I just knew it was in a a situation that was probably not the best one to be in if Anthony came out of the bathroom because I knew of his age.
You take your job seriously, right?
You take pride in being an ethical journalist.
I'm my attorney's adviser.
I'm not answering
that question.
Welcome to the Kevin Spacey trial unfiltered.
This is episode four, The Collaboration.
My name is Anne McElhinney.
In the last episode, we heard how Kevin Spacey's lawyers made sure Anthony Rapp swore in his deposition that every detail in the BuzzFeed article was correct.
This locked him into testimony they knew wasn't true.
But Rapp isn't the only one responsible for the inaccuracies that appeared in the story.
The reporter Adam Vary and BuzzFeed also had roles to play and questions to answer.
We'd also mentioned that along with the paper trail proving the apartment wasn't as Rapp described, there was a key witness who Vary hadn't contacted and who could have confirmed part of Rapp's story.
That's John Barrowman, who we've mentioned briefly before.
He was a friend from Rapp's hometown and was staying with them whilst he was in New York.
He was also an aspiring actor and along with Anthony Rapp met Spacey backstage after a performance of Long Day's Journey Into Night.
According to Rapp and BuzzFeed, Barreman accompanied them to dinner and the Limelight Club afterwards.
John Barreman could have been Rapp's eighth in the hole.
His proof that everything had happened just as he claimed.
As the alleged incident happened over thirty years ago, it would always be a he said he denied case unless there was a third party who could give an independent version of events.
Barman wasn't completely independent, but he was pretty close.
Rapp and Barman did go to the same high school, but they were not close friends.
They hadn't spoken in decades and had only met intermittently before that.
If Barman could verify Rapp's memory or confirm parts of an alleged incident that happened over thirty years ago, then it could be much tougher for Spacey to plead innocence.
That's why everyone was very interested when Bahraman was subpoenaed and agreed to give deposition testimony in the run up to the trial.
Bahraman has had a very successful career as a talented actor and entertainer.
We've managed to obtain recordings of the depositions.
Here's Bareman introducing himself.
Career started first off in the theater in 1989.
And if
I were to summarize that, I did probably thirteen to fourteen years of West End and Broadway shows.
I was also doing children's television for the BBC.
I was on two of the most popular children's TV shows for a number of years.
But I've been able to, and quite proud to say that I've consistently worked for all those years, maybe having time down between jobs.
I've done a TV show called Doctor Who.
I did that for four or five seasons.
Had my own spin off called Torchwood, which was for four seasons, a stint on Desperate Housewives.
I played a main character for the last eight, nine years on a show called Arrow for The CW here in The US.
And I was also on two of their spin off shows as the same character as a series regular called The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow.
Oh, and one thing I should say, and it was one of the few points of agreements among everyone involved in the case, John Barryman is an incredibly good looking man.
He is remarkably handsome in his 50s and was apparently mesmerizing when he was 19 when he met Spacey with Rapp in 1986.
Spacey's lawyers, Chase Skolnick and Jennifer Keller, said anyone who saw him was struck by his looks.
Objectively, he's a very handsome man, and his his looks have held up.
In fact, we served him with a subpoena at his home in Palm Springs, and I heard from the lady who served him, and it was a very unusual conversation.
She told me, I served the subpoena, and I just wanted to let you know that he's the most handsome man that I've ever seen in my life.
He's really good looking.
Even our process server, when she went to serve him in Palm Springs said, oh my god, you didn't tell me that the guy I was serving was so incredibly good looking.
是的。
Yeah.
And he was even better looking, of course, as a young man.
You might wonder why how beautiful John Barman is or was matters in this otherwise very serious case.
But it turns out the attractiveness of mister Barman was to emerge as a very relevant point in the case of Rapp versus Spacey.
Initially, Barman's involvement looked promising for Anthony Rapp.
As he was speaking to reporter Adam Vary, Rapp reached out to Barman asking for assistance with the BuzzFeed article.
This is the message sent by Rapp to Barman on October 2017 and read by an actor.
Hey there.
I hope you're well.
I realize a Twitter DM is an odd forum in which to have this sort of interaction.
But in the wake of all the Harvey Weinstein stuff, I've been thinking so much about Kevin Spacey and a move to do something about it.
I was wondering whether you might consider coming forward with me about your experience of his inappropriate behavior toward you.
I hope you're well.
Until that DM, the pair had not spoken since they'd had dinner together in 1998, almost twenty years before.
Baraman replied that he was in Fiji and would give a proper answer when he returned.
Rapp wrote again on October 21 and then again on October 29.
It was this October 29 message that prompted Barman to respond.
At that point the BuzzFeed article had just been published and Spacey's life was in meltdown.
Barrowman's message back was encouraging.
This is him in his deposition being questioned about those messages by Chase Skolnick.
On the 10/29/2017, you responded to mister Rapp saying, all is good on a plane at the moment from Dallas to LA.
Saw the news, very eloquently put.
I have a full day of meetings tomorrow, but I'm calling my lawyer and will give you a ring if that's okay at some point.
JB?
JB?
是的。
Yes.
That was what I said.
The messages became even more encouraging in 2020.
Again, this is Barman being questioned in his deposition.
And it seemed he was aware that something inappropriate had happened between Spacey and Rapp.
A quick note of clarification you will sometimes hear Kevin Spacey referred to as Mr Fowler in depositions and court reenactments.
That's because Fowler is his legal last name.
Spacey
Spacey is his middle name, which he adopted as a stage name.
And you informed Mr.
Rapp that you had read an abridged publication that he was suing Mr.
Fowler。
Fowler.
And you said, if you need me, I will stand for you in court, etcetera, As I know that he knew you were a minor from the prior incident that happened in his apartment, he knew what he was doing.
These apparently encouraging responses from John Baramond probably emboldened Rapp to continue telling his story and to sue Spacey in court.
However this begs the question as to why BuzzFeed reporter Adam Vary did not pursue Barreman for his memories of the night at the club and its aftermath.
Article only mentions a 17 year old friend in passing and not even by name.
Why did Vary not name Barman or pursue him to confirm the story?
Barman had even written about the night at the limelight with Spacey in his memoir, though he kept Spacey anonymous.
So why didn't they ask Barman?
It's a question that hung over this case and proved pivotal in determining which version of events was credible.
Spacey's lawyers were also keen to know why Vary hadn't investigated such a crucial part of the story.
He swore during his deposition that he took his work as a journalist seriously and he held himself to a code of ethics.
So we touched earlier on your work as a journalist, and you've been a journalist now since at least 2000 I'm sorry, since at least 1999, it sounds like, right?
对。
Correct.
And you take your job seriously, right?
对。
Correct.
You take pride in being an ethical journalist?
对。
Correct.
There are codes of ethics that journalists follow, correct?
对。
Correct.
So how do we square this assertion with the inaccuracy about Barrowman's age and his overall absence from the article?
Because if Vary had spoken to Barrowman, his story about Spacey would have been very, very different.
For a start, in the BuzzFeed article, Rapp recounted how Baraman, although he didn't name him, was just 17, below the age of consent and definitely below the legal drinking age.
This meant that Spacey was initially going out to dinner and a nightclub with two people who were legally minors.
It painted a picture that made Rapp's description of what allegedly happened all the more believable by setting up Spacey as someone who could behave inappropriately with teenage boys.
Rapp also claimed in his deposition that after the night at the limelight, Spacey had stalked Barreman, sending him flowers and phoning him and his family so often that parents ordered him to stop.
He said Barraman told him about this many years later.
All very damning stuff.
It would have been difficult for Spacey and his legal team to rebut claims of inappropriate behavior against two minors who had similar stories but had not talked in twenty years.
Except that when Barreman was asked the most basic questions, it quickly became apparent that Rapp's description of Barman and his interactions with Spacey was completely wrong.
First, the age issue.
Barman was not 17 and not a minor when he was visiting Rapp and his mother in New York in 1986.
Barman explained in his deposition that he was 19, had left high school, and was in his first year of college.
It's unlikely that Rapp would have been unaware of this, given that they went to the same high school, had similar interests, and had even starred in high school musicals together.
On 03/11/1986, would you have been 19?
03/11/1986 Yes, I think so.
Your birthday is March 11, correct?
March 11 is correct, yes.
I'm trying to think how the school year worked because yes.
So I would have been 1986, you said, yes?
是的。
Yes.
Yes, I would have been 19, sorry.
So by the 1986, you had already graduated from high school, right?
对。
Yes.
And by the 1986, you had already gone off for a semester to the University of Iowa, correct?
To my recollection, yes.
While Barman was staying with Rapp in New York, they would have likely discussed his college life in Iowa.
Barman was an adult and Rapp should have known that.
And for that matter so should Adam Varry and BuzzFeed.
Barraman's date of birth is right at the top of his Wikipedia profile, but still the BuzzFeed piece claimed he was a minor.
If Anthony Rapp and Adam Vary could get something so basic and so important wrong, what else did they miss by not speaking with John Barman?
A lot as it turns out.
We've already established that Barryman is an exceptionally good looking man.
Everyone on the case went out of their way to comment on his looks.
So in 1986, this tall, handsome 19 year old with a dream of being an actor was on his first solo trip to New York.
He stays with Rapp and his mother exploring the city and going to Broadway shows with Rapp who knew the theater scene and could get them backstage in other shows.
Both Spaces and Rapp's lawyers would point out that though Rapp was rubbing shoulders with Broadway bigwigs and tripsing around New York City without his mother, he looked very much like a child.
He barely looked his 14 years and weighed maybe a hundred pounds.
One Sunday afternoon, they go to see Long Day's Journey into Night, and this is where they encounter Kevin Spacey.
Rapp and Spacey had met briefly before at an industry event, but their meeting hadn't been notable.
It was only with the dashing John Barrowman at his side that Spacey extended more than pleasantries to rap.
Everyone agrees Spacey invites both of them to dinner and then takes them to the Limelight Club.
Up to this point, raps and Barreman's memories are basically the same.
Though Barreman says he and Spacey got up to dance at the club, while Rapp said they were at the table together the whole time.
When they're done with the club, their stories diverge completely.
In Rapp's account, Spacey invited him to a party a few days later and wrote down his address on a slip of paper.
Then everyone went home.
But Barrowman said that's not where the night ended.
He claimed that instead of going home, they all went back to Spacey's apartment to meet his dog.
Bahraman testified that it was a short visit, maybe thirty minutes at most, where they played with the beautiful Labrador and admired the view of the New York skyline.
Here's Barman's vivid memory of that night given during his deposition.
We all sat down and we played with the dog and small talk.
I don't recall what was discussed.
And I do remember looking at the window, because I could see across Manhattan to what would be Jersey.
And if you look down to the left, could see where Times Square and the Empire State Building down to the left hand side.
I thought the view was spectacular.
That's why I remember it was my first impression of that.
That's why I recall that.
And like, you know, again, I couldn't believe that I was where I was in New York City, blah, blah, blah.
And Bahraman had another reason to remember that night.
He said that while Anthony Rapp was in the bathroom, he and Spacey shared a flirtatious moment.
先生。
Mr.
Spacey and I were sitting on the bed and playfully Mr.
Spacey pushed me back and we were laying down and he leaned to the side to talk to me with his arm on top of me.
And that was, didn't, I'm saying this, it didn't affect me in a bad way.
I didn't feel threatened.
I just knew it was in a situation that was probably not the best one to be in if Anthony came out of the bathroom because I knew of his age.
And when Anthony, I heard him coming out of the bathroom, I then pushed Mr.
Spacey's hand off, sat up, and we both sat up.
They both felt it wasn't appropriate to flirt in that way in front of Rapp, who in their eyes was a child.
Barreman maintained there was nothing inappropriate about the interaction.
He was an adult, flattered by the attentions from Spacey, and attracted to him.
I would have interpreted it as a flirtatious pass that if was no one else in the room or no one else there, it could have been moving towards a sexual pass.
According to Barreman, the evening ended soon after that and all three went their separate ways.
But Rapp would claim in his deposition that Spacey went on to exhibit harassing behavior toward Barreman.
Rapp said Barramin was uncomfortable when Spacey sent him flowers a few days later and kept calling his house so often that his parents had to step in and tell Spacey to stop.
But according to Barramin, these details were exactly backwards.
He said he was extremely flattered by the attention Spacey showed him.
Here's Spacey's lawyer, Jennifer Keller.
And Barrowman's gay, rap is gay.
Barrowman was already it wasn't any big deal to him.
And he also, rap also had told Spacey's attentions to Berryman were really unwelcome and that Berryman had later complained that Kevin kept calling his house and his father had to get on the line and tell him not to call anymore.
And that turned out to be wrong too.
It turned out that he had called Berrowman's house and had gotten into a wonderful chat with his mother who was from Scotland as Kevin's forebears were, and a long talk about Scotland.
His mother thought he was just darling, enjoyed speaking with him.
So that, which Berriman memorialized in a letter that he sent to Kevin about, you know, my mom still talks about how she enjoyed speaking with you.
Kevin kept the letter.
The letter proving it was in a trove of documents Spacey held onto.
Barman sent it sometime in 1998 or 1999 when Spacey performed in The Iceman Cometh in London.
Barman had been acting in the West End for about eight years at that point and working on some of his own productions.
He sent Spacey a letter asking to discuss a role Spacey might be interested in.
Here's how he began that letter, read by an actor.
首先,
First,
may I congratulate you on your performance in The Iceman Cometh.
I had the pleasure of being in the audience on Monday evening.
The last time I saw you live on stage was on Broadway in Long Day's Journey Into Night.
You were kind enough to entertain myself and my friend Anthony Rapp after the performance.
My mother still talks about the lengthy conversation she had with you on the phone two days later.
Don't get her talking about Scotland.
And what about Rapp claiming Spacey sent Barryman flowers?
Even that detail was completely wrong.
This is a recording of Barryman's deposition describing what actually happened.
I must have taken his address down because I then the next day, I can't remember if it was the next day or the second day after, I sent to thank him for the evening, I sent him flowers and again saying I felt no threat whatsoever or anything bad from it.
So I was sending him the flowers to say thank you.
And he confirmed there were no stalking phone calls.
And what I didn't realize, what I didn't know until I then returned home that Mr.
Fowler had spoken to my mother on the phone.
I can't remember, but I know he spoke with my mom And at that time I wasn't out to my parents and they had a lengthy conversation.
Did your mom at any point
tell Mr.
没有。
Fowler not to call your house?
No.
Did you ever tell Mr.
Rapp that your mom and dad told Mr.
Fowler not to call your house again?
Not to my recollection.
Jennifer Keller interrogated Rapp about this during his cross examination at trial, forcing Rapp to admit that the assertions he made about Spacey harassing Barreman were wrong.
Here is that exchange performed by actors.
But nothing about going to Mr.
Spacey's apartment with John Barrowman?
对。
Correct.
And you claim, or you did claim, maybe that's changed, that Mr.
Spacey harassed Mr.
Barrowman after the evening you went to the limelight, right?
I don't know the language that I used to describe.
Well, you said that Mr.
Spacey had sent unwanted flowers to Mr.
Barrowman, right?
That was my memory of what Mr.
Barrowman told me.
Well, your memory of what Mr.
Barrowman told you turned out to be backwards, didn't it?
It's possible.
So until he testified, you were portraying mister Spacey as something of a harasser or a stalker in terms of sending these unwanted flowers and all the unwanted calls.
Right?
是的。
I had.
I don't think I ever used the word stalker, harasser.
Well, didn't you say that mister Barrowman's parents at one point had to get on the phone and tell Kevin to stop calling because he was calling so often?
That was my memory of what John shared with me.
That turned out to be wrong too.
Right?
Seems possible.
是的。
Yes.
How did none of Barrowman's recollections, which contradicted rap sensational allegations, make it into the BuzzFeed article?
A lot of it came down to Adam Vary's reporting.
There's more to the relationship between Vary and Rapp than just journalists and source.
You see, the two are friends going back to the beginning of Vary's journalism career.
Maybe not especially close friends, but they've kept in touch for over twenty years.
They chat every few months about pop culture movies and video games and exchange Christmas cards.
Here's Vary during his deposition.
Anthony came to speak at, my university as part of Gay Lesbian Bisexual Awareness Week, and I interviewed him for the school paper.
What school was that?
Miami University.
So did you and Mr.
Rapp makes friends instantly?
We discovered that we were like minded about pop culture and liked talking about that a great deal.
There were a lot of missing or inaccurate details in Vary's reporting, some that could have been more easily checked than others.
Spacey's lawyers wanted to see if Vary and Rapp had collaborated to make the story favorable to Rapp, and if there were any violations of widely accepted journalistic ethics.
Or perhaps Vary was just a lazy journalist.
They already knew that Vary hadn't pursued John Barrowman, a crucial witness, and had even gotten his age wrong.
They needed to know why and they needed to know what else he had gotten wrong.
It turned out there was very little they could get from Vary himself.
He was subpoenaed and sat for a deposition, but mostly refused to talk about how he gathered and verified, or failed to verify, facts for the Kevin Spacey story.
Vary claimed he was protected by the, quote, reporter's privilege, a First Amendment protection that means journalists cannot be forced to testify about their work.
But just because you have a privilege as a reporter doesn't mean you have to use it, Particularly since rap, the main source, was also talking about the story and his decision to speak to BuzzFeed.
And Vary himself had given interviews to media outlets detailing his news gathering process.
It was starting to look like he was picking and choosing when to assert his reporter's privilege.
We're joined now by webcam by by BuzzFeed's Adam Vary.
He spoke to Anthony Rapp, and he wrote the story in which the allegations against Kevin Spacey were made.
Thank you very much for joining us.
Why did Adam Rapp speak out?
It quickly became clear.
Vary had some very difficult questions to answer.
Spacey's team could not get the emails and texts between Vary and Rapp because Vary claimed journalistic protection.
But they could get access to some of their communications from Rapp's side.
They revealed that Vary seemed to be willing to collaborate with Wrap to cover up discrepancies between his memory and provable facts.
Here's lawyer Chase Skolnick questioning Vary about how he decided to present, or rather not present, an inconsistency in Wrap's account.
Page 31 is an exchange on October 2737, starting at 05:01PM.
Do you see that?
Yes, I do.
Your text is in gray, right?
先生。
Mr.
Rapp's appears in blue?
没错。
Correct.
And you wrote to Mr.
Rapp, One thing to make you aware of, we can't seem to play Spacey at the Tonys in 2008.
He didn't present.
Tonys in 2008, He didn't present and it wasn't nominated, and there's no photos we can find.
We don't doubt he was there, but we don't want to nail down a specific date that Spacey could then just flatly deny.
So Mr.
对。
Rath provided you a detail about the last time he had seen Mr.
对。
Fowler, right?
是的。
Yes.
You determined that detail was not accurate?
And what did Vary do with this problem?
The article ultimately made no mention of the February.
没错。
That's right.
When confronted with evidence that Anthony Rapp was just plain wrong in his recollection of recent events, Vary covered for him.
This happened again when it came to Rapp's scant details about the alleged party the night he says Spacey assaulted him.
Vary told Rapp in a text, quote, Similarly, we're also going to steer away from exact specificity in the story for the party, unquote.
Varrie told Rapp that he was going to be vague about these details to prevent Spacey from coming up with facts that would mean he could, quote, specifically deny, unquote, the allegations.
This is the very opposite of what journalists are supposed to do, And it puts Spacey in an impossible position of facing damning but deliberately vaguely written allegations designed to make it almost impossible to answer and refute them, especially given the tight deadline.
But BuzzFeed's readers and the world knew none of this.
Instead, Vary and BuzzFeed presented Rapp as a reliable narrator of an event thirty years previous, whilst neglecting to mention he was completely wrong about something dramatic he said had happened less than a decade ago.
When questioned in the deposition about this apparently unethical behavior, that is hiding seemingly exculpatory evidence from Spacey and his team and BuzzFeed's readers, Vary suddenly clammed up.
反对。
Objection.
To the extent that calls for the disclosure of unpublished material, object on the basis of the reporter's privilege and the reporter shield and instruct the witness not to answer.
But he may answer if he believes he can.
I, on the advice of my attorney, I'm not answering that question.
And what was the explanation for the glaring and very damaging error about John Barryman's age?
Adam Vary and Buzzfeed had said he was a minor when the simplest of checks would have revealed otherwise.
And why didn't he reach out to contact Bahraman?
Again, Varrie refused to answer questions when asked about it under oath in the deposition.
Have you ever tried googling mister Barron to determine his birthday?
反对。
Objection.
To the extent it calls for the disclosure of unpublished information, protected from disclosure by the end news gathering information, protected from disclosure by the, reporter's shield and reporter's privilege, I instruct the witness not to answer.
Otherwise, he may do so.

I, on the advice of my attorney, I declined to answer.
Reporters' privilege is meant to protect journalists from being forced to reveal their anonymous sources.
But here was Adam Vary using it to refuse to answer if he had ever used Google.
And this is how Vary answered almost every question Skolnick put to him.
In total, he refused to answer almost a 100 questions.
Same objection, same instruction.
On the advice of my attorney, I'm declining to answer that question.

Answer The advice advice of my attorney, that question.
Prompted Spacey's legal team to appeal to the judge to force Vary to answer questions.
They argued that by hiding Rapp's faulty memory, Vary was behaving as a friend or an activist, not a legitimate reporter.
In his decision, Judge Lewis Kaplan agreed that Vary had decided to be vague to avoid Spacey producing a factual rebuttal of the allegations and hide Rapp's faulty memory.
This is part of his judgment read by an actor.
Very suggested that the way to handle this in his story was to, one, avoid saying that the alleged incident related by Rapp had occurred at the 2008 Tony Award program, and two, be vague about where and when the alleged incident had occurred to avoid Spacey flatly denying the accuracy of the story.
Vary went on to suggest that he would steer away from exact specificity in the story for the party.
In due course, Vary's BuzzFeed story came out.
It asserted that the last time that Rapp had interacted with Spacey was at the nineteen ninety nine Tony Awards.
It did not mention that Rapp previously had told Very that he last had interacted with Spacey at the two thousand eight event.
For judge Kaplan, this raised major questions about whether Vary was really an independent journalist.
As discussed in further detail below, a number of the documents Vary withheld from Fowler raised serious questions about the reliability of Vary's reporting and his independence from Rapp.
To be sure, those questions do not arise merely from the fact that Vary and Rapp apparently have been personal friends since 1999.
Rather, what calls Wrap and other documents indicating Wrap's willingness to shape the story to Wrap's objectives, to overlook or massage unverified details, or to directly advise rap on public relations strategy.
These statements go far beyond a point of view about the subject matter.
In some instances, they come close to painting Vary as a commissioned agent.
Kaplan did say there were other instances of Vary behaving professionally, but ultimately ordered that Vary sit for a new deposition and answer questions about his news gathering.
However, that deposition saw Vary still refuse to answer, but in a different way for slightly different reasons.
In the end, Specy's lawyers decided that their resources were better spent on other issues with Rapp's story.
We put a series of questions to Adam Barrie asking why he had colluded with Anthony Rapp to disguise his bad memory and why he had agreed to be vague to avoid Kevin Spacey being able to quote, flatly deny unquote the story.
We also asked why he had never reached out to John Baramond in advance of publishing the article.
We also asked if he was considering correcting the piece given that he now knew John Barman was an adult at the time.
Vary, who has since become a reporter at variety, declined to answer any questions.
We put a lengthy list of similar questions to BuzzFeed, but they declined to answer also.
Rapp and BuzzFeed have also never published a correction.
To this day, John Baramond is still erroneously described in the article as a 17 year old.
Spacey's lawyers speculated that BuzzFeed's financial situation in 2017 meant Vary felt pressured to write a high performing article, generating clicks and cementing himself as a writer valuable to the company's bottom line.
BuzzFeed fell short of its financial goals that year, but Vary denied that he feared layoffs.
The stories you remember going around in late twenty seventeen related to BuzzFeed missing its financial targets, right?
Same objections.
Yes, these stories existed, yes.
Fair to say you as a BuzzFeed author, journalist, you were interested in writing articles that would be widely viewed by BuzzFeed?
Objection, vague.
As any journalist will tell you, they want their stories to be as widely read as possible.
BuzzFeed News struggled financially for several more years and shut down in April 2023.
But regardless of what came out in the depositions, Anthony Rapp still wanted his day in court and was going to get it.
And his case still had a lot going for it.
For one the jury would be from Manhattan.
This mostly liberal jury pool would probably be sympathetic to the believe all victims sentiment that had gained currency in the media and society.
And it was a court case.
Who knows what could emerge when the witnesses took the stand?
The human factor could not be discounted.
Rapp also had the expert testimony of the psychologist.
We heard from her in the first episode.
She had found that Rapp suffered tremendously from PTSD related to the alleged incident.
Not only would New Yorkers likely be sympathetic to believing the victim, but they could also be predisposed to believing experts.
Rapp's team also only had to make the jury 51% certain things happened the way he said they did.
It was a low bar.
But Spacey's lawyers were confident in their case and they trusted juries.
Would their trust be vindicated?
In the next episode, we hear how they chose a jury and started to make their case.
