你现在能做的最好的事情就是关掉这个播客,拿起你的装备,去钓鱼。

The best thing you could do right now is to turn off this podcast, grab your gear, and go fishing.

Speaker 0

如果你不能马上走开,比如你正在工作,或者好的钓点离得很远,那我想你可以听听我接下来要说的话,但最后的道理还是一样的。

If you can't just up and leave, maybe you're in the middle of work or any good fishing is a long drive away, then I suppose you can listen to the rest of what I've got to say, but the lesson at the end is gonna be the same.

Speaker 0

起来,去探索吧。

Get up and go explore.

Speaker 0

这里是Untangled,为所有人准备的飞钓节目,由Ventures FlyCo呈现。

This is untangled, fly fishing for everyone, presented by Ventures FlyCo.

Speaker 0

大家好。

Hey, everybody.

Speaker 0

欢迎收听。

Welcome to it.

Speaker 0

这里是Untangled,我是主持人Spencer Durant,又一周的播客精彩内容,我回来了。

This is Untangled, and I am your host, Spencer Durant, back at it for yet another week of podcasting excellence.

Speaker 0

这周的技巧分享,我想先坦诚一点,因为这正好为我要讲的技巧、我想说的话、这周需要传达的信息,打下了很好的基础。

And I am going to start this tip of the week out with some vulnerability because it really sets the stage well for the tip I've got, what I wanna say, the message that needs to get communicated this week.

Speaker 0

我觉得我们就从这里开始说吧,2025年和2026年,这两年真是既精彩又糟糕。

And I I think we'll just start right here with it that 2025 and 2026, these last two years, they have been simultaneously awesome and horrible.

Speaker 0

就是那种让你不知道该怎么继续、该做什么的感觉。

It's just the the sort of stuff that leaves you feeling like you're not sure how or what to keep keep doing.

Speaker 0

然后在2024年底,我和我妻子发现我们要有宝宝了,这真是太棒了。

And in late it was late twenty twenty four, my wife and I found out we were gonna have a baby, which was awesome.

Speaker 0

这不算坏事。

That's not part of the bad stuff.

Speaker 0

这不是一直以来的挑战的一部分。

It's not part of the challenge that's been going on.

Speaker 0

但几乎在我们知道我妻子怀孕之后,她就生病了。

But almost immediately after we found out that my wife was pregnant, my wife got sick.

Speaker 0

医生诊断她得了一种比较罕见的病。

And the docs diagnosed her with this relatively rare condition.

Speaker 0

我连名字都念不出来。

I can't pronounce it.

Speaker 0

我甚至都不太记得它叫什么了。

I can't even really remember what it's called.

Speaker 0

我只知道它的缩写是HG。

I just know that it's abbreviated h g.

Speaker 0

简单来说,就是你能想象到的最严重的孕吐,直接拉满到极致,而且一直不停。

And what it is is it's basically the worst morning sickness that you can think of turned all the way up to eleven, and then it never stops.

Speaker 0

整个孕期都这样。

So it's there for the entire pregnancy.

Speaker 0

所以整个怀孕期间,我妻子基本上都得卧床休息,因为她一直恶心、一直吐,吐到我们到处都藏了那种小呕吐袋,因为她不知道什么时候就需要一个。

And that meant that throughout the entire pregnancy, my wife's basically on bed rest because she was always nauseous, always throwing up to the point where we had, like, those little puke bags stashed everywhere because she never knew when she was gonna need one.

Speaker 0

到她怀孕七个月的时候,我想她整个孕期总共才长了大概十磅,这么少确实让人担心。

And by the time she was seven months pregnant, I think she'd put on, like, 10 pounds total for the pregnancy, which is concerning that it's that little.

Speaker 0

这真的让我很心疼,因为我唯一能做的就是去药房给她拿止吐药,而且那些药其实对恶心也没什么太大作用,然后回家给她做饭。

And it was really heartbreaking for me because all I could do was go refill the anti nausea meds at the pharmacy, and they really just barely put a dent in the nausea anyways, and then make her food when I got home.

Speaker 0

那真的是我唯一能为她做的事了。

And that that was literally all I could do for her.

Speaker 0

然后大概再过六周孩子就要出生了,所以那时候已经是2025年中了。

And then it was about six weeks before our kid was due, so we're well into 2025 at this point.

Speaker 0

我们当时在犹他州。

And we were down in Utah.

Speaker 0

她去看家人,而我和亚历克斯在外面拍东西、忙工作。

She was visiting family while Alex and I were out filming and getting some work done.

Speaker 0

我出差回来,回到她父母家。

And I get back from that trip to her to her parents' house.

Speaker 0

我们正准备开车八小时回怀俄明,结果我老婆的脚突然疼得厉害。

We're getting ready to make that eight hour drive home back to Wyoming, and my wife's foot just starts killing her.

Speaker 0

她说感觉像脚骨折了,但其实她根本没怎么走路,因为HG让她一直躺着。

She said it felt like she'd broken her foot, except she really hadn't been walking very much at all because, again, the HG had her laid up.

Speaker 0

我当时真不知道该怎么办。

And I didn't really know what to do with it.

Speaker 0

那天是周六。

It was on a Saturday.

Speaker 0

我就问她,疼吗?

I was like, does it hurt?

Speaker 0

要不要去急诊?

Do we need to go to the ER?

Speaker 0

她说,不用。

She's like, no.

Speaker 0

没那么严重。

It's not that bad.

Speaker 0

所以我们就决定,等回到家再去检查。

So we decided that we'd get it checked out as soon as we got home.

Speaker 0

她也同意了。

She agreed to that.

Speaker 0

然后我们把东西都装上车。

So we finished loading the truck up.

Speaker 0

把狗也带上了。

We got the dogs.

Speaker 0

我们出发了,开了二十分钟。

We set off, and we're twenty minutes into the drive.

Speaker 0

我们开到帕利斯峡谷半路,熟悉犹他州地理的人应该知道这个地方,然后我的卡车开始过热。

We're halfway up Parley's Canyon for those who are familiar with Utah geography, and my truck starts overheating.

Speaker 0

所以我就靠边停车了。

So I pull over.

Speaker 0

我试着搞清楚怎么回事。

I try to figure out what's going on.

Speaker 0

我没看到冷却液泄漏。

I don't see a coolant leak.

Speaker 0

卡车里还有一些冷却液。

I still have some coolant in the truck.

Speaker 0

我真的很生气。

I'm really mad.

Speaker 0

显然,我对卡车说了很多难听的话。

A lot of words were said to the truck, obviously.

Speaker 0

我当时真的不知道该怎么办。

I just I didn't know what to do.

Speaker 0

所以我就把车掉头,直接开回了我岳父岳母家。

So I turned the truck right around, drove back to my in laws.

Speaker 0

而且因为是星期六,我也没什么办法,只能等到星期一修车店开门。

And since it was Saturday, there wasn't a lot I could do except wait until Monday when the shop's open.

Speaker 0

到时候我再把车送去检查,等车修好了我们就回家。

Then I'd go have it looked at, and we'd go home once the truck finally got fixed.

Speaker 0

结果星期一到了,我老婆的脚还是疼得厉害。

Well, Monday rolls around, and my wife's foot is still killing her.

Speaker 0

所以这又是个问题。

So that's an issue.

Speaker 0

于是我就把车送到修车店,顺便处理了一些工作上的事,然后去接她,我们直接去了急诊。

So I go drop a truck off at the mechanic, get a few other work things done, and then I go grab her, and we just run to the urgent care.

Speaker 0

他们做了所有看医生时常规的检查。

And they do all the normal stuff when you go see the doctor.

Speaker 0

他们量了血压和心率。

They take the blood pressure, the heart rate.

Speaker 0

她老婆的血压读数一出现在屏幕上,护士明显就不对劲了。

And as soon as her blood pressure reading pops up on the screen, the nurse is visibly not well.

Speaker 0

她眼睛瞪得老大。

She's like, her eyes get big.

Speaker 0

她什么也没说。

She doesn't say anything.

Speaker 0

只是眼睛瞪得特别大。

Her eyes just get really big.

Speaker 0

她又量了一次血压,看起来还是很紧张,然后她叫来了医生。

She takes the blood pressure again, still looks really nervous, and then she calls the doctor.

Speaker 0

我看了看屏幕,我老婆的血压是140/110。

And I look at the screen, and my wife's blood pressure was, like, one forty over one ten.

Speaker 0

医生看到后,就说:对。

And the doc sees that, and he's like, yeah.

Speaker 0

我们来做另一个检查吧。

Let's do this other test.

Speaker 0

他做这个检查的时候,完全没管脚的事。

And he's doing this other test, completely ignores the foot.

Speaker 0

他不担心脚,因为那个检查结果出来了,显示我妻子有一些蛋白质,结合血压和这些蛋白质,说明她得了子痫前期。

He's not worried about the foot because that other test comes back, and it showed that my wife had some proteins that indicated between the blood pressure and those proteins that she had preeclampsia.

Speaker 0

医生说,你们得马上去医院。

And the doctor said, you need to go immediately to the hospital.

Speaker 0

所以我们赶紧去了医院。

So we haul off to the hospital.

Speaker 0

我们直接去了产房。

We go right up to labor and delivery.

Speaker 0

他让我们跳过急诊,这真是他做得非常对的决定。

He told us to skip the ER, which was a really good move on his part.

Speaker 0

我们到了产房。

And we get to labor and delivery.

Speaker 0

这时候大概过了二十分钟。

It's maybe twenty minutes later at this point.

Speaker 0

他们又给她量了一次血压,结果是一百六到一百二。

They take her blood pressure again, and it's one sixty over one twenty.

Speaker 0

医生就说,对。

And the doc's like, yeah.

Speaker 0

你得把孩子生下来,因为子痫前症唯一的治疗方法就是分娩。

You're gonna have this baby because the only treatment for preeclampsia is to deliver the baby.

Speaker 0

所以你现在三十四周,提前六周,那就只能这样了。

So and you're thirty four weeks, six weeks early, so that's what's gonna happen.

Speaker 0

我们本来还想着回家,结果突然就被告知要生孩子了。

And we went from just wanting to go home to you're having the baby just dropped on us.

Speaker 0

那是在晚上,然后第二天十一点半左右,我们的女儿就出生了。

And about oh, that was in the evening, and our daughter was born 11:30 something the next day.

Speaker 0

所以差不多十二个小时多一点,女儿就出生了。

So not not much more than twelve hours later, daughter's born.

Speaker 0

她早产了六周,所以我们不得不在新生儿重症监护室待了一段时间。

She's six weeks early, so we got to spend time in the NICU.

Speaker 0

我们在新生儿重症监护室陪了她二十九天,她在那儿学着怎么吃奶,做那些本该在妈妈肚子里完成的事情,但她决定,嗯,知道吗,

We were there for twenty nine days in the NICU with her while she learned how to eat and did all those things she was supposed to finish in the womb, but decided, yeah, know.

Speaker 0

我得现在见爸爸妈妈,所以就提前出来了。

I need to see mom and dad now, and had to come see us.

Speaker 0

终于我们回到了怀俄明州的家里,准备重新开始正常生活。

Well, we finally get back home to Wyoming, and we're ready to settle back into life.

Speaker 0

我们有了孩子。

We've got the kid.

Speaker 0

我们很开心。

We're happy.

Speaker 0

但结果这孩子根本不睡觉,一点都不睡。

But it turns out the kid doesn't sleep, like, at all.

Speaker 0

她就是不肯睡。

She's just not sleeping.

Speaker 0

结果发现她胃食管反流特别严重,吃的东西全吐出来了,还有肠绞痛。

It turns out that she's got really bad reflux, so she's puking all her food up, and she's got colic.

Speaker 0

所以我晚上就开车带她出去转,因为只有这样才能让她睡着。

So I'm taking her on these late night drives because that's the only thing that would get her to sleep.

Speaker 0

她只有在车开动的时候才能睡着。

She only sleep in the car when it's driving.

Speaker 0

我这么做也是想让我老婆能歇一歇。

I'm trying to do that to give my wife a break.

Speaker 0

同时我还得继续工作什么的。

I'm also trying to still, you know, continue working and stuff.

Speaker 0

那时候我们真的是勉强撑着。

We're barely surviving at this point.

Speaker 0

如果你们听众里有带过孩子的,估计听到这儿都在点头,因为照顾小婴儿的辛苦是真的,而且你根本不知道是怎么熬过来的。

And if any of y'all listening have had kids, you're probably nodding right along with all of this because the struggle of these tiny babies is real, and it makes no sense at all how you get through it.

Speaker 0

后来呢,我们的女儿终于慢慢好了一些。

Now, eventually, our our daughter does start doing a little bit better.

Speaker 0

她开始长体重了,睡得也好一点了。

She starts, you know, putting the weight on, sleeping a little bit better.

Speaker 0

她最后变成了一个特别开心、特别爱笑的宝宝。

She ends up being a really happy, really smiley baby.

Speaker 0

到了2026年,她终于熬过了那个难关。

And it's 2026 at this point that she's finally turned that corner.

Speaker 0

今年早些时候,我灵机一动,觉得这是卖房子搬家最好的时机。

And I get the bright idea earlier this year that, you know, this is the best time to to sell our house and move.

Speaker 0

我们准备好了。

We're ready.

Speaker 0

干吧。

Let's do it.

Speaker 0

你知道,我们以前住在怀俄明州最偏远的地方之一,我知道这听起来有点矛盾,因为整个怀俄明州都很偏远。

You know, we used to live in one of the most remote parts of Wyoming, and I know that sounds like an oxymoron because all of Wyoming is remote.

Speaker 0

到处都是小城镇,分散在各处,但有些角落离文明更远,我们就在其中一个角落住过一阵子。

It's all tiny towns just spread out everywhere, but there are corners of it that are further from civilization than others, and that's one of the we lived in one of those corners for a bit.

Speaker 0

我们离我妻子的父母有八小时车程。

We were eight hours away from my wife's parents.

Speaker 0

离我父母有十二小时车程。

We were twelve hours from my parents.

Speaker 0

在那片偏远地区,我们没有任何亲戚。

We had no family up in that neck of the woods.

Speaker 0

而且我在VFC工作,是团队的一员,VFC的总部在奥勒姆,离我家大约八个半小时车程。

And then with me working with VFC and and being part of the team here, the headquarters for VFC is in Orem, which was about eight and a half hours away from home for me.

Speaker 0

我只是想离得近一些,这样每次我和亚历克斯决定出去拍摄、制作内容时,就不用开那么远的路了。

I I just wanted to be a lot closer so that it wasn't an insane drive every time Alex and I decided that we needed to go out and film and get content.

Speaker 0

我妻子想离家人近一点,这样宝宝就能享受爷爷奶奶的陪伴。

My wife wanted to be closer to family so, you know, the the baby could have the grandparent experience.

Speaker 0

而且我们早就想搬家了。

And we've been wanting to move for a while.

Speaker 0

这件事一直在计划之中。

It had been in the cards.

Speaker 0

我们知道怀俄明州那个地方不是我们永远的家,我只是觉得现在是时候实现这个计划了。

We knew that part of Wyoming wasn't our forever home, and I just felt like this was the right time to pull it off.

Speaker 0

所以我们把房子准备好,挂到市场上,一切都很顺利,结果房子大概两周就卖掉了,这意味着我们还没选好新房子,因为我们需要先让房子进入合同阶段,才能真正开始找新的。

So we got the house ready, we put it on the market, and everything was going great, except the house sold in, like, two weeks, which meant we didn't have a new house picked out because we needed the house to go under contract first before we could really find a new one.

Speaker 0

而且,真的,大概两周就卖了。

And, again, it was sold in, like, two weeks.

Speaker 0

我们没想到会这样,因为怀俄明州那个角落,房地产市场很冷清。

We were not expecting that because that corner of Wyoming, the real estate market's pretty slow.

Speaker 0

我们本来以为要花几个月时间。

We were expecting it to take a couple of months.

Speaker 0

结果两周就卖了。

It sells in, like, two weeks.

Speaker 0

所以我们唯一的办法就是先搬去和我岳父母住,同时再找新的住处,我们现在还住在那里。

So the only option we had was to move in with my in laws while we figured out a new housing situation, and that is where we currently still are.

Speaker 0

我们还在他们地下室。

We're still in their basement.

Speaker 0

而且如果你买过房子或者建过房子,你就知道那过程在那儿真的很糟糕。

And if you've ever bought or built a house, you know the process really sucks there.

Speaker 0

我们决定不买了,因为实在找不到想要的,现在我们在建房子。

We decided to skip buying because we just couldn't find what we wanted to, and now we're building.

Speaker 0

然后就是各种压力,各种担心。

And there's all that stress, all that worry.

Speaker 0

你会特别纠结,担心自己做的决定对不对。

You're you're you're really concerned if you're making the right decision.

Speaker 0

再加上,我们在怀俄明州那个县住了四年,那儿总共就两个红绿灯,全县大概一万人。

And then add into all of that that where we lived in Wyoming for the last four years up in that county, there were two traffic lights and about 10,000 people total in the county.

Speaker 0

而现在我们住在犹他州的盐湖县,光这个县就有一百多万人,红绿灯估计也多得数不清。

And then now we're living in Salt Lake County in Utah, where there's more than a million people just in the county and probably just as many traffic lights it comes it comes to see.

Speaker 0

所以以前我从家门口出发,二十七分钟就能到当地的小溪,现在想去钓鱼,得花一个小时跟车流搏斗才能到地方。

So I went from being able to be on the local creek in twenty seven minutes from my doorstep to the creek in Wyoming to needing, like, an hour to fight the traffic to get anywhere to fish.

Speaker 0

而且除了这些,一月份我滑雪的时候伤了膝盖,医生也不太确定我到底伤到哪儿了。

And then on top all this, in January, I hurt my knee while I was skiing, and the doctors weren't quite sure what I'd done to it.

Speaker 0

我得做核磁共振和X光,那些检查都做了。

I had to get MRI and X rays, all that stuff.

Speaker 0

最后终于确诊了,然后开始做物理治疗,确实有帮助。

Finally got a diagnosis, so started physical therapy on it, which has helped.

Speaker 0

但膝盖的问题挺严重的,导致我整个夏天原本计划的徒步、背包旅行和露营都没法真正进行。

But having the knee issue, it it's been severe enough that I haven't really been able to do the hiking, the backpacking, the camping that I had on tap for my entire summer.

Speaker 0

所以2026年真的什么都没按计划来。

So nothing's really gone to plan in 2026 at all.

Speaker 0

我说这些不是想让你同情我。

And I'm I'm saying all of this not because I want you to feel sorry for me.

Speaker 0

我不是在博取同情或什么的,但这确实为我要说的下一件事做了铺垫,那就是过去两年的大部分时间里,我一直在透支自己,精疲力尽,而且还在应对相当严重的境遇性抑郁。

I'm not, you know, trying to garner sympathy or anything like that, but it does set the stage for what I need to say next, which is that for most of the past two years, I've been running on fumes, I've been exhausted, and then I've also been dealing with some pretty nasty situational depression.

Speaker 0

我这一辈子都在和抑郁作斗争。

And I've had to deal with depression for my entire life.

Speaker 0

我做过心理治疗。

I've done therapy.

Speaker 0

药我也吃过了。

I've done the meds.

Speaker 0

我现在最喜欢的应对方式就是去最近的鸡翅店大吃一顿,把情绪都吃进肚子里。虽然这样对身体不太好,但吃完后我总是感觉特别爽,所以我会继续这么干。

My favorite form of coping with it right now is eating my feelings at the nearest wing joint, which isn't healthy in other ways, but I always feel great afterwards, so I'll keep doing it.

Speaker 0

不过,玩笑归玩笑,尤其是因为宝宝不睡觉导致我睡眠不足,抑郁情绪真的就一下子涌上来了。

But, you know, jovial bits aside, especially with the sleep deprivation from the baby not sleeping, the the depression just really kicked in.

Speaker 0

而且我们搬到了犹他州,一边在盖房子,希望年底能搬进去,祈祷一切顺利。

And since we moved down to Utah while we're building our house and hopefully moving in, fingers crossed, we're gonna do that at the end of end of this year.

Speaker 0

对我来说,保持头脑清醒比平时难多了。

It's been a lot harder than normal for me to keep my head on straight.

Speaker 0

感觉就像过去两年里发生的所有这些大事,终于一下子全压到我身上了。

It's almost like the past two years of all these giant life events have finally caught up with me.

Speaker 0

我不知道是不是我一直没好好处理自己的情绪,还是怎么回事,但那种感觉就像被抑郁的大锤狠狠砸中,然后所有随之而来的焦虑也一起涌上来。

And I don't know if I just haven't dealt with my emotions very well or what, but it is it has been like getting sledgehammered with depression and then all the anxiety that comes along with that.

Speaker 0

情况严重到,说实话,这个夏天有很长一段时间我连钓鱼都不想去了。

And it's been so bad that I honestly haven't wanted to fish for a good chunk of the summer either.

Speaker 0

我就是得逼着自己去。

I just I've had to force myself to go.

Speaker 0

和Alex拍内容的时候,我得强迫自己起床去干这些事。

When I've had shoots for content with Alex, I have had to force myself to get up and go and do this stuff.

Speaker 0

我今天开场就劝大家关掉设备去钓鱼,然后我又讲了这么多背景,说实话,我可能有点说多了。

And the reason that I opened this show today with that admonition to just turn it off and go fishing, and then I gave you all this background info and, you know, let let's be honest, I probably over shared a little bit.

Speaker 0

但我做这些的原因,是希望这个信息能真正打动你,能让你记住。

But the reason I do all this is I want the reality of this message to hopefully land with you, hopefully stick with you.

Speaker 0

那就是,到户外去,感受大自然,以某种方式参与其中,是对健康最好的事情之一。

And that is that being outside and experiencing the natural world, participating in it in some fashion is one of the best things that you can do for your health.

Speaker 0

而且碰巧的是,对我们大多数人,尤其是听这个播客的人来说,我们是通过飞钓来获得这种疗愈机会的。

And it just so happens that for most of us, especially those who are listening to this podcast, we access that healing opportunity via fly fishing.

Speaker 0

约翰·吉拉克写过,解决生活中任何问题的办法就是去钓鱼,问题越大,钓鱼的时间就该越长。

And it was John Gearock who wrote that the solution to any problem in life is a fishing trip, and the larger the problem, the longer the trip should be.

Speaker 0

我不知道约翰写这句话时是否知道自己说得有多对,但这可能是他写过的最真实的话,考虑到他是我心中最棒的钓鱼作家,这已经很了不起了。

I don't know if John knew quite how right he was when he wrote that sentence, but it might be the truest thing that he ever put on paper, which is saying something as the best fishing writer who's ever done it, in my opinion.

Speaker 0

他写了很多非常真实的话。

He wrote a lot of very true things.

Speaker 0

所以我提起这些,是因为昨天我在水边度过了一天,这真的让我深刻体会到,要好好利用飞钓本身那种能让心灵平静、帮助你看清事物的能力。

So I bring all this up because yesterday, I had a day on the water that really just drove home the importance of taking advantage of fly fishing's inherent ability to calm the mind and help put things into perspective.

Speaker 0

我知道我需要出去钓鱼,因为我当时心情特别低落。

And I knew I needed to get out and fish because I was in such a bad funk.

Speaker 0

我感觉自己很可怜。

I was feeling so I I was feeling sorry for myself.

Speaker 0

我觉得隧道尽头没有光。

I was feeling like there wasn't light at the end of the tunnel.

Speaker 0

这些都是抑郁来袭时的典型表现,你会对自己撒谎。

All those classic things when the depression sets in and you lie to yourself about it.

Speaker 0

我能看到这一点,也能客观地说,是的。

I I could see that, and I could objectively say, yes.

Speaker 0

我现在需要一些帮助。

I need some help right now.

Speaker 0

但我也在想,哎,我不知道我的膝盖能不能撑得住。

But I also was like, well, I don't know if my knee's gonna handle it.

Speaker 0

最后我终于到了那个点,我就直接说,听着。

And I finally got to the point where I just said, look.

Speaker 0

我想看看我的膝盖到底能不能应付这个。

I wanna see how my knee is gonna handle this.

Speaker 0

我得出去走走。

I need to get out.

Speaker 0

我会带上我的处方强度布洛芬和护膝,如果实在不行,我就爬出去。

I will take my my prescription strength ibuprofen and my knee brace with me, and if I have to, I will crawl out of there.

Speaker 0

我得去钓鱼。

I need to go fishing.

Speaker 0

现在我得为自己做点什么。

I need to do something for myself at this point.

Speaker 0

所以我决定去一个地方,上次我去那儿钓鱼还是六年前,那时候正是疫情最严重的时候。

So I decided to go pick a spot that the last time I fished, it was, like, six years ago during the height of COVID.

Speaker 0

到那条小溪大概要走三英里半,但大部分路都是平的。

And it's about a three and a half mile hike to get into this creek, but it's mostly a flat walk.

Speaker 0

所以我觉得,就测试膝盖来说,那是个挺不错的地方。

So I felt like as far as trying out my knee goes, it was a a pretty good place to do it.

Speaker 0

那条小溪里鱼也很多,所以我知道钓鱼肯定会很爽。

This creek's also full of fish, so I knew that the fishing was gonna be good.

Speaker 0

我会很投入的。

I'd be engaged with it.

Speaker 0

还能去看看好久没去的地方。

I'd get to see a place I haven't seen in a while.

Speaker 0

虽然那里的鱼大部分都是很小的溪鳟和割喉鳟,大概就五到七英寸,但我也钓到过不错的茴鱼,还有一次钓到过一条十三英寸的虹鳟。

And even though the fish are most of them are pretty small brookies and cutthroat, like we're talking five to seven inch fish, I have caught some decent grayling out of it, caught a 13 inch rainbow out of it once.

Speaker 0

而且在我去之前几周,我们仓库经理艾登其实已经去那条小溪的下游钓过,他钓到了一条十九英寸的棕鳟。

And then a few weeks before I went on this trip, our warehouse manager, Aiden, had actually gone up and fished the lower portion of this creek, and he put a 19 inch brown in the net when he did that.

Speaker 0

这基本上就像第一次尝试就完美做出了威灵顿牛排一样。

It's basically like cooking a perfect beef Wellington on your first try.

Speaker 0

那让我印象特别深刻。

I was so impressed by that.

Speaker 0

所以我就叫艾登跟我一起去,因为我觉得能沾点好运就沾点。

So I had Aiden come out with me because I thought I could use all the good luck I could get.

Speaker 0

然后我们跟着车流走。

And we followed the traffic.

Speaker 0

到了步道入口。

We got to the trailhead.

Speaker 0

我们就出发了。

We set off.

Speaker 0

这时候我的膝盖其实感觉特别好。

My knees are actually feeling really good at this point.

Speaker 0

外面大概75华氏度。

It's about 75 degrees outside.

Speaker 0

没风,有点云,外面安静得一点声音都没有。

There's no wind, little bit of cloud cover, and it's just dead quiet outside.

Speaker 0

简直完美极了。

Just absolutely perfect.

Speaker 0

我们在小路上走得挺快的,不过遇到了一对老夫妇,他们正往回走,去他们的车那儿,经过我们身边。

And we made pretty decent time on the trail, except for we ran into this older couple who were hiking back to their car as they passed us.

Speaker 0

他们带着一只特别漂亮的短毛柯利犬,我不得不停下来摸了一会儿,因为,谁不想摸摸那只短毛柯利犬呢?

They had this gorgeous short collie that I had to stop and pet for a while because, I mean, who's not gonna pet the short collie?

Speaker 0

嗯,我们在那儿的时候,我到处走着。

Well, as we're out there, I'm walking around.

Speaker 0

我摸着那只狗。

I'm petting the dog.

Speaker 0

我在找野树莓吃。

I'm looking for wild raspberries to eat.

Speaker 0

而不是被房子、房贷利率、办公室里的那些未剪辑的素材压得喘不过气来,真的,那时候我脑子里想的只有,嘿,我的膝盖感觉挺好的。

And instead of being weighed down by the house, the mortgage rates, all the unedited footage that was back in my office, really, only thing on my mind at that point was, hey, my knee feels pretty good.

Speaker 0

我背包里有不错的午餐,而且小溪边有个地方我想去钓鱼。

I've got a decent lunch in my backpack, and then there's a spot on the creek that I wanted to go fish.

Speaker 0

我脑子里就只剩下这些了。

That's all that's running through my head.

Speaker 0

我们其实瞄准的是这条小溪的一段,我以前从没在那儿钓过鱼。

And we were actually targeting a section of this creek that I'd never fished before.

Speaker 0

从地图上看,那段看起来很不错,因为你能看到它稍微变宽,穿过一些更草甸的地方。

On the map, it looks really good because you can see where it opens up a bit, goes through some more meadowy bits.

Speaker 0

它更多是连续的急流,而不是那种小水潭。

It's got more runs than pocket water.

Speaker 0

看起来真的值得走那么远过去。

Looked really worth the hike into that.

Speaker 0

结果我们到了那儿。

Well, we get up there.

Speaker 0

我们到了那个地方。

We'll get to the spot.

Speaker 0

简直完美。

It's perfect.

Speaker 0

这里看起来和卫星照片上一模一样。

It looks just like it does on the satellite photos.

Speaker 0

水很冷。

The water's cold.

Speaker 0

我们看到鱼在跃出水面,艾登一上来就钓到了三条鱼,而我正坐下来。

We see fish rising, and Aiden picks up three fish just right off the bat while I sit down.

Speaker 0

我在吃午饭。

I have lunch.

Speaker 0

我在装我的钓竿。

I'm rigging my rod up.

Speaker 0

我有一条新的蟋蟀拟饵,想先试试,所以我就把它绑上了。

And I I got this new cricket pattern that I wanted to try out first, so I tie that on.

Speaker 0

一开始,就只用一只干蝇。

First thing, just single dry fly.

Speaker 0

真的,第一竿下去,这条小溪里我见过的最大的溪鳟就把我的拟饵吞了。

Literally, on the first cast, the biggest brook trout I have ever seen in this creek just swallows my fly.

Speaker 0

我简直要疯了,因为我不敢相信这家伙这么大。

And I I'm losing my mind because I can't believe how big this thing is.

Speaker 0

我把它弄进网里了。

I get it into the net.

Speaker 0

它不到13英寸长,形状像个橄榄球。

It's just under 13 inches long, and it's shaped like a football.

Speaker 0

这家伙真是又粗又壮。

It is a girthy son of a gun.

Speaker 0

对于一条在海拔9000英尺的小溪里抓到的鱼来说,这简直太疯狂了,尤其是想想我过去的经历,几乎每条鱼都在5到8英寸之间。

Absolutely insane for a fish out of a creek at 9,000 feet above sea level, especially when you look at all my past experiences where almost every fish was in that five to eight inch range.

Speaker 0

它们都是小鱼。

They were just small fish.

Speaker 0

嗯,更疯狂的是,那天接下来的时间也差不多是这样。

Well, what's crazy is the rest of the day plays out just like that.

Speaker 0

我们几乎在每个看过的钓点都不断钓到令人惊讶的大鱼,包括一些将近15英寸长的白鱼。

We kept catching surprisingly great fish from just about every spot that we looked at, including some white fish that were pushing, like, 15 inches long.

Speaker 0

然后艾登钓到了一条特别漂亮的割喉鳟,差不多有一英尺长,好看得不得了。

And then Aiden nails this gorgeous, like, foot long cutthroat that is just pretty as all get out.

Speaker 0

接着我们到了另一段水流,我连续钓到了两条13英寸的溪鳟,都是用干蝇钓上来的。

And then we get to this other run, and I catch back to back 13 inch brookies on dry flies out of it.

Speaker 0

然后等我们把那段我从来没钓过的河段都钓完了,就进入了我以前钓过的区域。

And then by the time we'd fish through all of the stretch of river that I'd never fished before, we were getting into sections that I had fished before.

Speaker 0

到那时候,我们每个人都钓到了溪鳟、虹鳟、割喉鳟、白鲑,还有湖鳟和溪鳟的杂交种——splake。

By the time that happened, we each caught brookies, rainbows, cutthroat, whitefish, and splake, which is a brook trout and a lake trout hybrid.

Speaker 0

所以我们钓到了好多好多鱼。

So we're catching tons of fish.

Speaker 0

这一天简直完美得没法再好了,就算你想编也编不出这样的日子。

It it just you you couldn't have scripted a better day if you tried.

Speaker 0

然后更棒的是,我到了一个地方,那里有棵柳树垂在河面上,柳树下面有个特别漂亮的小水潭。

And then it gets even better because I get to this one spot where there's this willow leaning over the river, and there's this beautiful, pocket under the willow.

Speaker 0

我把鱼饵从蟋蟀换成了泡沫干蝇,还挂了个法式幼虫作为副钩,然后我把饵精准地抛到了柳树下面。

And I'd switched from my cricket over to a foam caddust dry fly with a Frenchie dropper, and I tucked this perfect cast under the willow.

Speaker 0

这一竿必须一次到位,不然就把鱼窝给搅了。

The the the cast that you need to nail it right on the first try or you're gonna ruin the hole.

Speaker 0

结果我居然做到了,这种事一年也就一次,第一竿就抛准了,然后我的干蝇就稳稳地停在水面上。

And somehow, I managed to do that, which this happens like once a year that I get the first cast right on the first try, and my dry fly just stops dead in its tracks.

Speaker 0

我一提竿,立刻感觉到鱼线那头比今天任何时候都沉。

So I set the hook, and instantly, I feel more weight on the end of that fly than anything else I'd felt all day long.

Speaker 0

接着我看到一道漂亮的红色和橙色闪过,然后这条鱼就猛地往下游冲去。

And then I see this beautiful flash of red and orange, and then this fish just tears off downstream.

Speaker 0

我大声喊艾登。

And I'm hollering for Aiden.

Speaker 0

我说,哦,我需要帮忙。

I'm like, oh, I I need help.

Speaker 0

拿你的网来。

Get your net.

Speaker 0

拿你的网来。

Get your net.

Speaker 0

他跑过来,帮我钓上了这条15英寸的割喉鳟,它打扮得跟要去参加舞会似的。

He comes up, and he helps me land this 15 inch cutty that was decked out like it was going to prom.

Speaker 0

它就是这么漂亮,打扮得花枝招展的。

It was that dolled up and beautiful.

Speaker 0

我们给它拍了几张照片。

So we get some pictures of it.

Speaker 0

然后把它放生了。

We release it.

Speaker 0

它游走的时候,我们击了个掌。

We high five if it swims off.

Speaker 0

我就在那儿四处看看。

And I'm just looking around.

Speaker 0

欣赏着周围的风景。

I'm taking in the scenery.

Speaker 0

说实话,那时候我觉得就算今天不再钓鱼也值了,因为那条鱼让我兴奋得不得了。

I was honestly fine at that point to just not even fish the rest of the day because I was on such a high from that fish.

Speaker 0

当然,我还是继续钓鱼了。

Now, of course, I I kept fishing anyways.

Speaker 0

我在找其他的鱼。

I was looking for some other fish.

Speaker 0

我们又网到了几条漂亮的溪鳟。

We put a couple more nice brookies in the net.

Speaker 0

我们还发现了一大片野覆盆子,今年干旱居然还活下来了。

We did find a nice big patch of wild raspberries that had somehow survived through the drought this year.

Speaker 0

我们摘了很多浆果,然后开始往回走,大约走了三英里半才到卡车那儿。

We loaded up on the berries, and we started the about three and a half mile walk back to the truck.

Speaker 0

我的膝盖感觉还是很好。

And my knee's feeling great still.

Speaker 0

我什么都不担心,就担心赶在卷饼店关门前到镇上,因为我需要吃那个来补充那些消耗的卡路里。

I wasn't worried about anything at all except getting to town before the burrito joint closed because I I needed that to replace all those calories.

Speaker 0

然后我还有点担心开车回家路上会犯困,因为是我开车,而且去那个地方的路程可不短。

And then I was a little worried about staying awake on the long drive home because I was driving, and it's a haul to get to this spot.

Speaker 0

但换句话说,我在徒步出去时担心的那些问题,都是钓鱼一天带来的可控问题。

But in other words, all my problems that I was worried about on the hike out, they were the manageable problems that come from a day of fishing.

Speaker 0

对吧?

K?

Speaker 0

它们不是那种,嗯,如果房贷利率上涨怎么办?

They weren't the, well, what if mortgage rates go up?

Speaker 0

或者如果发生这种事怎么办?

Or what if this happens?

Speaker 0

如果发生那种事怎么办?

What if this happens?

Speaker 0

我不再陷入自我怀疑的漩涡了。

I wasn't stuck in the spiral of self doubt anymore.

Speaker 0

但真正让我印象深刻的是,当我们徒步返回时,我有时间反思,真正突出的是我对一切的感觉好了很多。

And what really stood out to me though, as we made the hike back and I had a minute to reflect, what really stood out was just how much better I felt about everything.

Speaker 0

而且我确信外面有一些关于内啡肽和体力消耗的科学解释,那会解释为什么钓鱼总是能让事情变得更好。

And I'm sure there's some scientific explanation out there about endorphins and physical exertion, and that's gonna explain why fishing always makes things better.

Speaker 0

但我觉得,理解它为什么有效并不是那么重要。

But I don't think that understanding why it works is all that important.

Speaker 0

重要的是,当生活变得难以承受时,有一个健康、无害的解决办法,那就是起身去钓鱼,因为其他事情都可以等。

I think what's important is knowing there's a great, healthy, nondestructive solution for dealing with life when it gets unbearable, and that is to just get up and go fishing because everything else can wait.

Speaker 0

这就是我希望你们从这期节目中学到的。再说一次,我分享这些不是为了博取同情。

That's what I hope y'all take away from this that, again, I share all of that stuff not not to garner sympathy.

Speaker 0

这难吗?

It's has it been tough?

Speaker 0

是的。

Yes.

Speaker 0

其他人有没有经历过更糟的?

Have other people had it way worse?

Speaker 0

当然有。

Absolutely.

Speaker 0

发生的一切都不算真正的“糟糕”。

Nothing that's happened has been quote, unquote bad.

Speaker 0

只是充满挑战,跟以前不一样,而且很艰难。

It's just been challenging and different and and hard.

Speaker 0

对。

Yeah.

Speaker 0

我不会否认这一点,但你知道,健康方面,大家都挺好的。

I'm not gonna take that away from it, but, you know, health health wise, everybody's fine on that front.

Speaker 0

就是不好玩。

It's just not fun.

Speaker 0

然后我就会陷入那种抑郁的状态,整个人都不好了。

And then I fall into that that depression funk and get really messed up that way.

Speaker 0

然后我就出去钓鱼,强迫自己,嘿,好好利用钓鱼能带给你的好处。

And then I go out and I fish and I force myself to, hey, take advantage of what fishing can offer you.

Speaker 0

我突然意识到,我做得还不够多。

And it just struck me how I have not done that enough.

Speaker 0

我一直没有用钓鱼来应对压力,没有做到应该做的程度。

I have not been using fishing to deal with the stress in the way that I should have.

Speaker 0

这真的让我深刻体会到,那力量有多强大。

And it it really it really just hit home how powerful that can be.

Speaker 0

所以再说一次,去钓鱼吧,因为其他事情都可以等。

So again, go fishing because everything else can wait.

Speaker 0

我希望这个信息能引起你们的共鸣。

And I hope the message resonates with you guys.

Speaker 0

我希望你们从中得到了我想要的收获。

I hope you took away from this what I intended.

Speaker 0

再说一次,我不是在寻求同情。

And again, not looking for sympathy.

Speaker 0

对吧?

Right?

Speaker 0

我只是想给你们铺垫一下背景,这样你们就能理解这个故事从何而来,以及为什么我觉得这是本周值得和你们分享的要点。
