Waiters are a nice piece of gear and all, but by the time summer rolls around, they get hot.

你会出很多汗。

You get too sweaty.

They're not comfortable to hike in, and you start to wonder if you really need them.

难道不能直接穿上泳裤，更舒服一点吗？

Couldn't you just throw some swimming trunks on and be more comfortable?

Well, yeah.

但如果你要一整天钓鱼，专门的湿涉水装备能给你涉水靴的稳定性和安全性，又不像热乎乎的涉水裤那样笨重、层层叠叠。

But if you're gonna spend all day fishing, a dedicated wet wading setup gives you the stability and safety of wading boots without the bulk and extra layers of hot waders.

所以今天在《Untangled》节目里，我们会分享我们在VFC使用的完整湿涉水装备，包括我们推荐的装备和我们喜欢湿涉水的原因。

And today, we're talk about one of my favorite topics, which is wet waiting.

我很喜欢湿涉水季节的到来，因为这意味着我可以把涉水裤扔到一边。

I love when wet waiting season shows up because it means I get to ditch my waders.

虽然我很喜欢我拥有的涉水裤，但我更不喜欢穿它们，我想很多人都有同感，尤其是天气热的时候，你汗流浃背。

As much as I enjoy the waders that I do own, I love not wearing them even more, and I think a lot of us can attest to that, especially when it gets hot and you're just sweating like a pig.

在水上活动时，少穿一层衣服真是太好了。

It's just nice to to have one less layer to deal with when you're out there on the water.

但是我会讲讲为什么我这么喜欢湿涉水，实际上我们VFC整个团队也都非常喜欢。

But I'll I'll get into why I love wet wading so much, and really the whole team here at VFC, we love it as well.

我一会儿会讲到这个，但我想在开头先提几件事，因为我在节目开头提到过，我们VFC有一套完整的湿涉水装备，而且我们已经分享过几次了。

I'll get into that in a minute, but I want to address a couple of things right at the beginning of this because I mentioned to open the show, you know, we've got a complete wet wading setup that we use here at VFC, and we've shared this a couple of times.

And one of the big pieces of feedback we get from folks is, well, can't I just use whatever?

我就可以穿着泳裤和凉鞋下河，应该没问题吧。

I can just wear, you know, swimming trunks and sandals in the river and I'll be fine.

Right?

这就是湿涉水嘛。

It's wet wading.

其实没那么讲究。

It doesn't really matter.

是的，某种程度上确实是这样，但有很多原因让我们推荐一套专用的湿涉水装备，配上涉水靴，而不是凉鞋。

And yes, that that's true to an extent, but there's a lot of reasons that we recommend a dedicated wet wading setup with your wading boots instead of sandals.

首先最重要的一点就是在河里的稳定性，因为我穿过凉鞋涉水。

And number one on that is stability in the river because I've waded in sandals.

我没穿过洞洞鞋，因为我从来没买过一双洞洞鞋，因为我对自己还有点尊重。

I haven't waded in Crocs because I've never owned a pair of Crocs because I have some respect for myself.

当然，我是开玩笑的。

Of course, I'm kidding.

对吧？

Right?

洞洞鞋没什么不好。

There's nothing wrong with Crocs.

而且据大家说，它们非常舒服，我理解。

And I understand they're very comfortable from what everybody's told me.

我只是从来没买过一双。

I've just never bought a pair.

反正我也不太喜欢穿凉鞋。

Not not much of a sandal guy anyways.

不过话说回来，我在河里的时候，我之前提过，我的平衡感不是很好。

But anyways, when I'm out in the river, I've mentioned this before, I don't have the best balance.

我的脚踝也不是很稳。

I don't have the best ankles.

所以当我穿着凉鞋或者水鞋之类的东西涉水时，那些不是专门为钓鱼时在河里行走设计的。

So when I've been wading in sandals or water shoes or whatever it is, something that's not designed for wading in a river while you're fishing.

我就感觉特别不稳。

I've been a lot less stable.

我在水里走路的时候，信心和舒适感都差很多。

I've been a lot less confident and comfortable in my wading.

所以对我来说，我的涉水靴给我的稳定性和牢固的支撑，我不想放弃，因为我想确保自己有扎实的立足点，能到处走动，而且我在不同的河里都能有足够的抓地力，这些都是我的涉水靴给我的。因为其他那些用来湿涉水的装备，是的，你可以用，可能对你来说也挺好用的，但它们不是为干这个设计的。

So for me, the stability and firm foundation I get of my wading boots, I don't wanna give that up because I want to know that I've got good solid footing, that I can walk around, that I've got the grip I need on the various rivers that I get from my wading boots because all the other gear that you could use to wet wade, yeah, you could use it, and it will probably work fine for you, but they're not designed to to do this stuff.

它们不是为在多种湿滑表面上提供那种极致抓地力而设计的。

They're not designed for that ultimate grip on a lot of different wet surfaces.

They're just, you know, they're designed to just be worn while they're wet really is what it comes down to.

And if you're spending a lot of time, you know, in a lake with a silty bottom or the river's got a kind of a sandy bottom to it, that that's gonna be less of an issue and you can probably get away with it.

Right?

But if you're still waiting big freestone streams or spring creeks, the bottom's uneven, and you want that stability.

So that's why we recommend the wet wading gear setup so much is you don't lose the stability you get out of the wading boot.

你可以保留稳定性，但可以甩掉防水裤。

You get to keep that, but you get to ditch the waders.

这就是我特别喜欢我的涉水靴的第一个大原因，我为什么留着它们，为什么我的装备是这样配置的。

So that's number one big thing that I like with my wading boots, why I keep them, and why I have the setup the way that I do.

我另外喜欢的一点是，当你用涉水靴的时候——我马上会讲到具体的装备——

The other thing that I like as well is when you go with the wading boot, and I'll get into the actual gear here in just a second.

但当你用涉水靴加氯丁橡胶袜的组合时，你得到的好处是，不会有石头、树枝和其他乱七八糟的东西跑到你脚下，然后你整天踩在上面，起水泡，不舒服，而且你走一步，可能就有东西扎进你的脚里。

But when you go with the wading boot and the neoprene sock combo, what you get out of that is you don't have all the rocks and the branches and all the other junk getting under your feet, and then you're stepping on those all day and you get blisters and it's not comfortable, and you take one step and it something stab it into your foot.

你会想，天哪。

You're like, oh my goodness.

我刚被水母蜇了。

I just got stung by a jellyfish.

我在落基山脉钓鱼呢。

I'm fishing in the Rockies.

这里没有水母，但我的脚疼得要命。

There aren't jellyfish here, but my foot hurts, deadgammon.

而且，你知道，那些麻烦都没了。

And, you know, all that's gone.

你不用担心那些乱七八糟的东西进到靴子里，因为氯丁橡胶袜和靴子都能挡住它们。

You don't have to worry about all that junk getting into your boots because the neoprene sock and the boot both work to keep it out.

凉鞋呢，就让那些东西直接穿过去了。

The sandals, they just let all that go right through.

不过凉鞋也挺好的。

Now the sandals are great.

就像我说的，如果你整天待在船上，只是稍微湿一下脚，那这种鞋确实挺合适的。

Like I said, if you're in a a boat all day and you're just gonna wet wait a little bit, yeah, those could be really good for it.

但如果我要一直在水里走，我就要穿靴子。

But if I'm gonna be wading consistently, I want the boots.

同样，如果我要徒步，我肯定要穿涉水靴，因为我们之前也聊过，选靴子要看你平时在水里做什么，要选适合你钓鱼方式的靴子。

And likewise, if I'm gonna be hiking, I definitely want my wading boots because we've talked about as well picking boots that match what you do on the water, picking a boot that that works for how you fish.

我花很多时间从一个钓点走到另一个钓点，所以我的靴子不仅在河里好用，还能在我走一两英里路去钓点的时候给脚踝提供支撑，或者走三四英里路，边走边涉水，走过不想钓的地方，在想钓的地方涉水。

And I spend a lot of time walking from spot to spot, so my boots not only work well for me in the river, but they provide ankle support as I'm walking, you know, a mile or two on the trail to get to where I wanna fish or putting in three or four miles of walking and wading up the river, you know, walking on the spots I don't wanna fish, wading where I do.

所以靴子在这方面也有帮助。

So having the boot helps with that as well.

所以，基于这些，我们才推荐坚持用这套系统。

So with all that said, that's why we recommend sticking with this system.

我不是说这是唯一的方法，也不是说你必须这么做，如果不这么做就会错过什么。

Now I'm not saying that this is the only way to do it and that you have to do it this way, and if you don't do it this way, you're losing out on anything.

我不是这个意思。

Not what I'm saying.

我只是把我们的推荐理由都告诉你。

I'm just giving you all the reasons behind the recommendations that we make.

如果你就想穿着泳裤和凉鞋下水，那随你。

If you just wanna go out and swim in trunks and sandals, go for it.

我相信你会玩得开心的。

I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself.

但如果你发现自己想要更舒服、更稳当，这就是我们推荐这套装备的原因。

But if you find yourself, like, wanting to be more comfortable, wanting more stability, this is why we recommend what we do.

所以你的涉水装备搭配，从涉水靴开始。

So your wet wading gear setup starts with your wading boots.

就是一年到头用的那双靴子。

Just the same boot that you use all throughout the year.

你可以用它来涉水，因为接下来要搭配的装备是涉水袜。

You can use it for wet wading because the next part of the gear is you want to have your wet wading sock.

就是一双氯丁橡胶袜。

It's just a neoprene sock.

穿上去和脱下来真的特别麻烦。

They can be an absolute pain in the butt to put on and to take off.

一点都不好玩。

They're just not fun.

但你穿上它，它会把所有脏东西和杂物挡在靴子外面，因为它会翻下来盖住靴子顶部，形成一个小的防沙罩，至少我们喜欢的那款是这样的。

But you put it on, and again, it's gonna keep all the dirt and junk out of your boot because it folds down over the top of your boot and forms this little gravel guard, at least the ones that we like do.

So you get this little gravel guard, keeps all the junk out.

And then wading boots, they're always sized to accommodate the neoprene boot foot of your wader.

涉水裤上的氯丁橡胶袜脚通常至少有3.5毫米厚。

And that neoprene boot foot on waders is usually at least three and a half millimeters thick.

所以当你穿上涉水靴时，脚外面的材料比你的脚本身还要多。

So there's more material on the outside of your foot than just your foot when you go into the wading boot.

所以如果你只穿涉水靴，不穿袜子或其他东西，你的脚真的会在里面滑来滑去，固定不住，那样的话，涉水靴能给你的稳定性就全没了。

So if you just wore the wading boots without socks or anything, your foot's really gonna slide around and not be locked in place, and you're gonna lose all the stability that you get out of the wading boot if you do that.

穿上氯丁橡胶袜子就能有防碎石护罩，把杂物都挡在外面，还能帮助固定脚，让脚在靴子里稳稳当当的。

Wearing the neoprene sock gives you the gravel guard, so keeps all the junk out, It then also helps lock your foot in place and stay nice and secure in your boots.

另外，这种氯丁橡胶袜子还有个好处，就是特别耐用，能用很久很久。

And the other nice thing about this too is these neoprene socks, they last for, like, ever.

就是别把它们扔在皮卡后斗里，让太阳晒一整个夏天，我之前就这么毁了一双。

Just don't leave them in the bed of your truck to bake in the sun all summer long, because I did that with a pair and ruined them.

那完全是我自己的错。

And that was, you know, completely my fault.

装备可不能这么对待。

You shouldn't do that with your gear.

但如果你每次用完都从车里拿出来挂起来晾干，它们就能用很长时间。

But if you actually take them out of your truck and hang them up to dry in between uses, they're gonna last for a good long time.

而且价格也不贵。

And they're not super expensive either.

给整套装备加上这个，花费很划算。

It's pretty affordable addition to the to the to the setup.

接下来，就是你的靴子和湿涉水袜。

And then after that, you've you've got your boots, your wet wading socks.

湿涉水的时候我喜欢穿长裤，因为我不太想让腿被刮伤，而且我也不想给蜱虫或者其他虫子更多机会咬到我的皮肤。

I like to wear pants when I'm wet wading because I don't like my legs getting scratched up as much, and then I do want to give ticks and whatever else fewer chances to bite my bare skin.

所以我会因为那个原因穿长裤。

So I'm gonna wear pants because of that.

我知道很多人喜欢穿短裤。

I know a lot of folks prefer shorts.

其实这真的无所谓。

It doesn't really matter.

不管你穿什么，一定要穿快干面料的。

Just whatever you wear, make sure you wear a quick drying fabric.

你要找那种，说实话，能在你吃午饭或者走回车子的路上就干掉的料子，这样你就不用整天穿着湿衣服了。

You want something that honestly can dry out while you're eating lunch or on the walk back to the car because then you're just not sitting in wet stuff all day long.

那样从来都不舒服。

That's never very comfortable.

而且快干面料在天气热的时候穿起来舒服多了，反正我们湿涉水的时候天气也热。

And the quick drying fabric is so much more comfortable when it's hot outside, which is when we're wet wading anyways.

这比穿着牛仔裤之类的湿涉水舒服多了，那种感觉太难受了。

It's just much more comfortable than trying to wet wading in, like, jeans or something that's miserable.

我以前试过。

I've done that before.

千万别这么干。

Don't do it.

给自己买一条合适的湿涉水裤，就是快干裤。

Get yourself a decent pair of wet wading pants, just quick drying pants.

不一定非要某个牌子什么的。

It doesn't have to be from a specific brand or anything.

只要是户外款的快干裤就行。

It just need to be a quick drying outdoor style pant.

And then as far as why we love wet wading so much, really, at the end of the day, your waders are getting safe from all the wear and tear because if you can wet wade usually from June, July, August, at least, sometimes into September.

There's been years when it's been warm enough.

I've been able to wet wade, like, all the way into October before.

所以你大概有三四个月的时间可以钓鱼，完全不用磨损你的防水裤。

So you're getting, like, three or four months of fishing without putting any wear or tear on your waders.

So that's a huge bonus in my book because waders, even if you're going with a quote unquote budget pair, right, whatever budget pair means for you, there's still a decent chunk of change.

You see, you know, you're still spending money on them.

You want them to last.

You wanna get the most out of your investment.

So anytime you cannot wear them and then just save them for when it's really cold, that's great.

I love being able to do that.

And then you're a lot more comfortable because no matter how great a pair of waders is, you can't always have the same range of motion.

You can't always move as freely in them.

There's just always gonna be something about them that's not as free and and easy and light as wearing just fishing pants.

So the comfort bit is great there.

还有，像我这样体型偏胖的人，湿涉水的时候也不会出那么多汗，因为不用在太阳底下多穿一层把自己闷着。

And then, you know, for fellows who are on the heftier side of the scale like myself, you don't sweat as much when you're wet wading either because you don't have a whole other layer that's just cooking you when you're out there in the sunlight.

这就是我这么喜欢湿涉水的原因。

So that's why I love wet wading so much.

而且站在河里，感受水流过身体，这种感觉也很特别。

And there's something to be said for just being in the river, feeling the water against you.

在很多方面，这真的能让人平静、放松，有种脚踏实地的感觉。

It it's really calming and relaxing and grounding in a lot of ways too.

I love it.

It really is that nice, especially, I mean, we've had the heat wave.

The heat wave run through lately.

It has been toasty and obviously, you know, you're keeping an eye on river temps to make sure that the water is not too hot and that it's not getting past 68 degrees, so you can still ethically fish for trout.

But, you know, when the river's in the high fifties, low sixties, that's a great temp for wet wading throughout the day, we love it.
